  • Blackwinds - the Flesh Inferno burns..

Blasphemy is the disrespectful use of the name of one or more gods. It may include using sacred names as stress expletives without intention to pray or speak of sacred matters; it is also sometimes defined as language expressing disapproved beliefs, or disbelief.

    This album praises blasphemy exclusively...

Featuring members of longtime black metal cult Setherial, Blackwinds' debut for Regain Records features album art from Watain's Erik Danielsson, Flesh Inferno showcases purely punishing Swedish black metal with no filler, no gimmicks, no bullshit.

    Flesh Inferno tracklist:
    1. Before Time
    2. Enter The Pandemonium
    3. Architecture Of Phantasmagoria
    4. Flesh Inferno
    5. Plague Bringer
    6. Seraphim Ephemeral
    7. The Inquisition
    8. Crimson Thirst
    9. Conceptualizing The Devil
    10. Quintessence Of Hell

    Ave everyone!

So, finally it’s time. On Monday, August 18, Chaq Mol and I will enter the studio together with producer Örjan Örnkloo (Misery Loves Co.) to begin the songwriting process of a new, yet untitled full-length album. Exactly how long it will take is hard to say, but we hope to be done with pre-production within the next 3-4 weeks. We already have quite some material written so I feel that we are as pre-prepared as we can be at this stage.

Montreal’s death metal quartet BENEATH THE MASSACRE has unveiled artwork for the band’s forthcoming record, ‘Dystopia,’ online in conjunction with the launch of pre-orders for the album. "After months of hard work in the studio, we finally have the master version of our new album entitled ‘Dystopia,’” frontman Elliot Desgagnés. “We are all very stoked by the new album as we feel that this is the best release we’ve ever done and we're impatient to share our songs with our fans. You can now pre-order ‘Dystopia’ from Prosthetic Records.”

Recorded again with St-Amand (Despised Icon, Ion Dissonance, Neuraxis) and featuring artwork from Felix Rancourt, ‘Dystopia’ will see an Oct. 28 release through Prosthetic Records. The second in a series of in-studio video blogs online here from the recording process, with more updates to come soon. ‘Dystopia’ is the follow-up to 2007’s ‘Mechanics of Dysfunction,’ the band’s Prosthetic debut, which saw BENEATH THE MASSACRE hit the road with the likes of Necrophagist, Through The Eyes of the Dead, Ion Dissonance, 2007’s inaugural Summer Slaughter tour and last year’s Radio Rebellion Tour alongside Behemoth, Job For A Cowboy, and Gojira, among others.

The band is already hard at work on the road supporting the impending release of ‘Dystopia.’ “We're now ready to hit back the road starting with Canadian Summer Slaughter,” Desgagnés continues. “We'll then be on tour in the US with Necrophagist and back again in the US with Suicide Silence and Dillinger Escape Plan and we cannot wait to both play the new songs live and come back to the United States after a long time staying in Canada."

  • ENSLAVED: U.S. record deal revealed and 'Vertebrae' U.S. Release Date Announced

Nuclear Blast Records is proud to announce the release of “Vertebrae” from Norway’s ENSLAVED on October 28th for the North American territory. The release has been exclusively licensed to Nuclear Blast from Indie Recordings in Norway, whom the band signed to, for a North American release.

Founding member & guitarist Ivar Bjørnson shares his thoughts on the new partnership:

“The U.S. and Canada have become increasingly important territories for ENSLAVED with their increasing sales and feedback from the fans and the scene both within and outside hard-line metal. The two tours we did in 2007 proved our live show qualities to the scene, and the scene proved its dedication to us. We are therefore extremely happy to be working with Nuclear Blast – a formidable force in the record industry. Having met members of the U.S. staff on several occasions, we know that their dedication and professionalism will take ENSLAVED a great step further. Vertebrae is by far our strongest album, one that we are extremely proud to present to the U.S., to Canada, Mexico, and all other territories. We are very pleased to present it in tandem with Nuclear Blast.”

Possessing the reputation as one of the very finest live acts in metal, ENSLAVED’ members knew their latest studio offering for 2008 had to contain the very best material to showcase the pinnacle of their signature Viking/progressive black metal sound. In no uncertain terms, Vertebrae easily meets that incredibly high level of expectation.

Recorded in the first quarter of 2008, mixed by Evil Joe Barresi (TOOL, QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE), mastered by the legendary George Marino (METALLICA, IRON MAIDEN, LED ZEPPLIN) at Sterling Sound, Vertebrae was produced by Ivar Bjørnson, Herbrand Larsen, and Grutle Kjellson themselves. Considered by all band members to be their strongest album in the seventeen years of their existence, Vertebrae’s sound, songs, seasoned guitar tone and time-travelling solos, and overall atmosphere marks a crowning achievement for the band and the genre as a whole.

Seasoned performers, ENSLAVED will be embarking on a European tour of 41 shows in support of Vertebrae that will launch in early November in Copenhagen, Denmark and end in late December in Bergen, Norway.

A tour for the U.S. is in the works and more details will be revealed soon!
  • Beer City Records cause massive HEAD ON COLLISION

Hailing from St. Louis, Missouri, thrash metal miscreants Head On Collision inject every authentic utterance, essence and nuance of the crumbling urban metropolis they call home into their Beer City debut, Ritual Sacrifice. The result is the sick, polluted ennui of a dying city conveniently packaged and shrink wrapped for your listening pleasure.

Ritual Sacrifice rips open with the impeccable "Arise From the Wreckage" and doesn't let up until the titular final track, accumulating eleven straight tracks of sullied, gory gold. These days metal is rarely this unfiltered and unaffected; the boys in HOC let the guitars scream for themselves and manage to make it through the eleven track onslaught with nary a drum loop or a bullshit Taxi Driver sample in the way.

Authentic metal for authentic metalheads, Ritual Sacrifice is a straight shot of 100 proof thrash metal that should thoroughly disintegrate whatever is left of your brain stem come album's end. Commence consumption immediately.

  • Swedish music industry veterans join forces with former Inside Out Music America staff to form Blistering Records.

Stockholm, Sweden – Blistering Records is pleased to announce the launch of their exciting new record label, with a focus on signing and developing recording acts in a wide spectrum of rock music, including but not limited to: Melodic Rock, Hard Rock, Classic Rock, Progressive Rock, Metal and all combinations of these styles.

The label has a simple philosophy: “Treat the artists the way we would like to be treated. We all started out as struggling musicians in bands so we know all-to-well what it feels like to be on the other side of the desk. More than ever with today's tough and ever changing music market survival is determined by understanding, appreciation, innovation, commitment and team-work. We are true supporters of the scene(s) that we help represent and are determined to prove ourselves to be survivors by becoming one of the leading independent record labels for Rock and Metal.”

The principals of Blistering are individuals with self proclaimed life-long love affairs with music, and extensive industry experience to put their philosophy into action.

Chairman of the Board, Tomas Sunmo started his career in 1984 at Tandan/Alpha Records as label manager for artists like Metallica, Sepultura, Frank Zappa etc. Tomas then went on to Reel Records and then MNW ILR before co-founding Scandinavian Record Distribution company, Playground Music where he also acted as the Director of Business Affairs between 1999 and 2007.

Label President Lars Chriss is widely known as a recording and touring artist with his band Lion's Share (Century Media, JVC, AFM Records, Avex etc). Lars has a sound engineering degree at SAE and has extensive industry experience from working at various labels, booking agencies and artist management companies.

North American Managing Director Jim Pitulski has done marketing and artist development for companies like Columbia Records and the Polygram Label Group where he worked hands-on with acts such as Alice in Chains, Judas Priest, Bruce Dickinson (Iron Maiden), Warrant, Britny Fox and Kingdom Come. Jim also started management company Roundtable Entertainment where he handled Dream Theater, Spock's Beard and Fish. He then went on to become the managing director of Inside Out Music America, perhaps the world's top label for progressive rock and metal.

Blistering Records is also looking to generate and foster strategic relationships with like-minded labels for licensing and distribution in North America and Europe. Recent alliances with Italy's Frontiers Records and Germany's Massacre Records are examples.

Blistering will release its first titles in the U.S. through Ryko/Warner Distribution on October 7th. Among those titles will be new releases from Glenn Hughes (Deep Purple), Michael Kiske (Helloween), House Of Lords and Revolution Renaissance which features former Stratovarius guitarist Timo Tolkki.

  • REGAIN RECORDS ISSUES CHALLENGE TO ‘SURVIVE THIS!’

TRENTON, N.J. - "Surive This!," a new film available through Regain Records, is a horrific take on an R-rated reality show gone wrong.

Following the reality television craze, a producer gathers a group of sexy, young contestants to vie for a big prize. It's a typical scenario until the contestants and crew begin to realize the secrets that made Pirates Island legendary.

As the steamy footage racks up, so does the body count as adult film star Gina Lynn, Hatebreed vocalist Jamey Jasta, former Ill Nino percussionist Roger Vasquez, Direct Effect host K.K. Holiday, Sarissa, Playboy/Married by America/CW Channel 11 New York star Jill Nicolini, Wu-Tang Clan's U-GOD, Ivy Supersonic of The Apprentice and Howard Stern fame, the Jerky Boys' Kamal Ahmed, and the infamous Naked Cowboy join a bunch of other hot, scantily-clad men and women in a game of survival no one will ever forget.

"Being in this movie was an experience for me," said Gina Lynn. "I always wanted to be in a horror movie."

"Survive This!" was written by Edward C. Wahl, directed by Wahl and Dale Restaghini, and produced by Resteghini, Kim Resteghini, Paul La Rocca, and Wahl.

"It was lots of fun and relaxed working with Dale," the Naked Cowboy said. "He creates an atmosphere of friends working together and not pieces of a puzzle conforming to a fixed outcome. Everything was just so relaxed, the 'greenery' around the landscape was mind blowing!"

In addition to the film, a companion comic book based on the movie is included with the first 5,000 copies of the DVD. Also written by Wahl and "The Zombie," the comic tells the "Survive This!" story in full-color illustrations by "The Zombie."

Who will win the game? Who will escape the island in one piece (and not a one-piece swimsuit!)? Who will be tonight's meal for an angry pirate zombie? You have to watch "Survive This!" to find out!

Regain Records opened its North American office New York in late 2006. The label plans to expand and develop its diverse roster. Based in Sweden, the label’s European operation has a deep catalog that had previously been licensed out in North America.

  • PRO-PAIN SIGNS AMERICAN DEAL WITH REGAIN RECORDS FOR RELEASE OF ‘NO END IN SIGHT’

TRENTON, N.J. – Pro-Pain has signed a deal with Regain Records for the release of its 11th album, “No End in Sight,” in North America.

“We feel that Swedish-based Regain Records is a solid and up and coming label here in the US,” said Gary Meskil. “They have a professional staff and the resources that are necessary to promote and further develop artists such as Pro-Pain. We look forward to a sound and successful partnership with Regain!”

"'No End in Sight' is a great record track after track," said Dennis Clapp, Managing Director, North America. "This was not a hard decision to make. Pro-Pain are also a very hard working band with a die-hard following and Regain is very happy to be working with them."

Together for 16 years, the New York-based band has developed a niche in the hardcore/metal scene with a sound distinctly its own.

Carrying that sound through the years, Pro-Pain has also taken liberties to grow and expand, and “No End in Sight” has been described as the band’s most melodic offering to date.

“I think that is an accurate description,” Meskil said. “The new CD offers a wide variety of styles, more so than any of its predecessors. However, a fair percentage of the recording is also very traditional - in the Pro-Pain sense - and sonically heavy. ‘No End in Sight’ is exactly the type of album that we wanted to create this time around, so we couldn't be more pleased with it.”

Regain Records opened its North American office New York in late 2006. The label plans to expand and develop its diverse roster. Based in Sweden, the label’s European operation has a deep catalog that had previously been licensed out in North America.

  • AXEMASTER CD delay...

Unfortunately, the new Axemaster CD "The Inner Terror" has been delayed. With work almost completed, the hard drive at the studio that contained all the sound files for the recording recently crashed (very unusual that a 7 month old computer system would have a problem like this!!!!!!). The drive is currently at a data recovery lab. They said they are confident that they can retrieve everything, so right now it's a waiting game. Fortunately all the music is backed up, but if they are not able to get the data back all the vocals and MANY hours of mixing/editing will be lost. The band asks everyone for their patience and hopefully this problem will be resolved soon.

Special thanks to everyone who have helped during this frustrating time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • POROPETRA SIGN WITH OPEN GRAVE

Finnish band Poropetra have signed on with Open Grave Records for the North American release of their debut album, "Sinihirwi". Poropetra features members, Juha Jyrkäs (throat-singing, 12-stringed kantele, distorted kantele-effects), Markus Ylikoski (guitar, backing vocals), Leo Herranen (bass, contrabass, backing vocals), Hittavainen (Korpiklaani) (violin, jouhikko, torupill, keyboards, mandoline, flutes and pipes, mouth harp, backing vocals), Lari Hammarberg (drums, percussions, backing vocals), Elsa Pardonen (vocals), and Nancy (vocals).

Poropetra is ancient Finnish and it means the same as Elk of Hiisi (Hiiden hirvi in Finnish) from the Finnish mythology. Elk is an old totem animal of Finno-Ugrian and Siberian peoples, thus it describes so well Poropetra's unique ethnic fusion music, combining together Finno-Ugrian myths and legends, Finnic kantele- and runo-singing traditions, Tuvan throat-singing, world music, psychedelic rock, blues and heavy rock.

Poropetra was founded by Juha Jyrkäs in 2002. Kuuraparta and Hittavainen joined soon after. The first demo, "Poropetra", was self-published in 2004. It represented an almost pure modern Finnish folk sound. After the demo, the band wanted to electrify the sound and bring in some more influences.

It took two years to record the new songs for "Sinihirwi". After many long recording sessions, Poropetra's debut album, "Sinihirwi" was self released in July of 2007. Now a little over a year since it's original release, "Sinihirwi" will see it's North American release this fall via Open Grave Records.
  • Ehnahre's death-doom molestation...

The first cooperation between Earsplit and the UK's Sound Devastation Records comes in the from of the crushing and tumultuous debut release from Bostonian outfit Ehnahre. The members of the avant-death project culminate from fallout of bands such as Biolich, Kayo Dot, Forcefedglass (went on to form Converge...) and more, here combining their influences into a uniquely infectious, technically-driven, artistically-drunk gut-punch of death/doom experimentation.

A concept record in five parts, based on the writings of Donald Justice, the debut album The Man Closing Up is something that can only be digested, not described accurately... dig, delve, and disgust yourself in it's gutsy glory... clips from the monstrosity are posted on the band's MySpace page now.

Ryan McGuire - bass, double-bass, voice, percussion

  • ORPHAN PROJECT SIGN WITH OPEN GRAVE RECORDS

Open Grave Records is proud to announce the addition of Abingdon, Maryland's Orphan Project to it's roster. Orphan Project was started in 2001, when vocalist Shane Lankford, collaborating with composer John Wenger, conceived the groundwork for a concept album based on spiritual and physical adoption, incorporating progressive, hard rock, and contemporary influences. With a full length album and an EP under their belt, and in addition, Lankford being a veteran of progressive local bands in his hometown such as Visual Cliff, and Fall of Echoes, the band felt they were ready to strengthen their influence, as well as build more of a following in the mainstream market. Lankford states, "We felt this was an excellent opportunity to get our material exposed to a bigger audience. And being with an indie label such as Open Grave allows us to do exactly that, while still retaining that personal relationship that bigger labels can't give you." This addition also takes place on the heels of a change in the style of artists signed by the label. Open Grave Records CEO James Mattern was quoted as saying "We feel that Orphan Project, as a band, has a little something for everyone. Rock fans, progressive fans, even adult contemporary fans will be able to appreciate this music. It's a great addition in support of our recent diversification efforts. I'm very excited about this release." Orphan project is planning to release new material in March of 2009.

  • DECAPITATED - GUITARIST CHECKS IN WITH UPDATE

SeaOfTranquility.org recently conducted an interview with DECAPITATED guitarist Waclaw 'Vogg' Kieltyka, brother of Witold "Vitek" Kieltyka (RIP).

To read the interview, please visit SeaOfTranquility.org.

On October 29, 2007, while travelling to a show in Gomel, Belarus, DECAPITATED and the other band that was on the tour bus, Crionics, were involved in a serious bus accident. The tour bus collided with a truck carrying wood, giving serious head injuries to Witold 'Vitek' Kieltyka and Adrian 'Covan' Kowanek.
The two were taken to a hospital in Novozybkov, Russia. • KATAKLYSM’S PREVAIL NOMINATED FOR 2008 QUEBEC INDIE MUSIC AWARD (GAMIQ)

Prevail, the most recent album by Canada’s hyperblasters KATAKLYSM, has been nominated for Album Of The Year in the “Metal/Hardcore” category.

The Quebec Indie Music Awards (GAMIQ) is an awards show that recognizes achievements by Quebec independent artists. The event is produced by the Quebec Independent Music Association which also produces the Montreal International Music Initiative (MIMI).

Independent and indie Quebec albums released between June 1st, 2007 and May 31st, 2008 were eligible for the GAMIQ 2008. Nominees were decided by a jury (more than 200 people) made up of journalists (newspaper, radio, TV, web), venues and festival bookers, record store owners, and cultural organization members throughout the province of Quebec, both francophones and anglophones. The vote from the jury counted for 100% of the final vote.

Results of the first round are reset and the jury votes again, this time to vote for the best in each category. But the vote from the jury will only count for 50% of the final vote for the second round. The other 50% will be determined by the public who will have the possibility to vote for the winner in this category at www.gamiq.ca, starting Wednesday, August 6th 2008 through Saturday, September 6th 2008 at 11:59 p.m. EASTERN. The public vote and jury vote will be combined and the winner in the various categories will be the ones who receive the highest average.

Only one vote per person will be accepted during the voting period. Each person must sign up on the website and then wait for an e-mail approval before being able to vote. The e-mail address from the voter will allow the GAMIQ committee to ensure that everybody voted only once.

Winners will be announced during an awards show hosted by the actor Rémi-Paquin Paquin on Sunday, September 21st 2008 at the Corona Theatre (2408 W. Notre-Dame Street) in Montreal.

Do your part to make sure metal gets the recognition it deserves: VOTE FOR KATAKLYSM!

"Indy Metal Fest was a well organized event that rivals most festivals in the U.S." said Frank Watkins of Indianapolis Metal Fest I headliner Obituary.

  • Metal Church preach about This Present Wasteland

Celebrated as one of the most outstanding metal talents of today, Metal Church was founded in the early eighties in Seattle, WA. In 1984 they released their debut album Metal Church. The album was hailed by the critics: "The band's amazing musicality is an absolute highlight in itself. This album will always be known as a classic of American straight-ahead heavy metal." The strong praise of Metal Church continued two years later with their next release The Dark.

After the release of The Dark, Metal Church underwent the first of several line-up changes. Frontman David Wayne left the group and was replaced by former Heretic vocalist Mike Howe. Reinforced by Howe and John Marshall (guitar), the riffs became heavier and the lyrics became more ambitious with a number of songs on Blessing in Disguise and The Human Factor dealing with burning political and social issues.

The nineties saw the Metal Church members pursue different and more personal directions. As the decade was coming to an end, 1999 brought about the highly anticipated reunion of the original Metal Church lineup, as well as the release of the album Masterpeace. The release of Masterpeace was followed by appearances at numerous festivals worldwide.

The arrival of The Weight of the World album in 2004 introduced Metal Church's new singer Ronny Munroe to the public. Respectfully characterized by the music press as "Rob Halford meets Dio," Munroe immediately catapulted the band to a new level in terms of vocals and content.

Metal Church continues to be a thoroughly positive band, which you can hear on their new album This Present Wasteland, being released through SPV/Steamhammer on September 23rd. With their new album: This Present Wasteland, Metal Church makes a true return to form with some of their strongest material in years.

  • The Living Fields sign to Candlelight Records

Candlelight Records today confirms the signing of multi-national progressive doom-death outfit The Living Fields. The trio, with members based in Chicago, London and Ottawa, has received early acclaim via their self-released 2004 and 2007 recordings. Now working on their Candlelight debut, currently titled Running Out of Daylight and planned for release in early 2009, the band looks to take the next step in their still developing career.

“Candlelight has been very successful working with bands that defy convention,” says guitarist Jason Muxlow regarding the band’s choice of label. “Their discography is filled with milestones. Their legacy undoubtedly speaks for itself and we're thrilled to be part of their future.”

Originally formed in 2002 by Muxlow, The Living Fields have had their sound likened to that of My Dying Bride, November’s Doom and others. But with a twist. Together with vocalist Jon Higgs (also of Monsterworks) and drummer Chad Walls (Brodequin, Enter Self), Muxlow and The Living Fields explore a wide range of sounds and styles utilizing a palette of guitar, drums, bass, strings, piano, and spine-chilling vocals that will amaze fans and critics worldwide. "True epic metal of a most norm-shattering aspect," says Terrorizer of the band’s self-titled debut. “Mandatory,” adds Metal Maniacs.

The Living Fields are the latest to join London-based Candlelight’s growing US roster, a strong concentration of artist development for the rising label. Home to all catalog from Emperor, Ihsahn, Zyklon, 1349, Insomnium plus early recordings from Opeth and Burzum, Candlelight’s American roster now includes Obituary, Crowbar, Daylight Dies, Abigail Williams (new album this fall), Absu, Averse Sefira, Sothis and Sourvein. The label is distributed exclusively in the United States via Caroline/EMI, PHD Canada for the northern country and Plastichead Music for Europe.

  • ALL THAT REMAINS posts new song from forthcoming album, OVERCOME, video sneak peak

Massachusetts’ ALL THAT REMAINS has unveiled the new track “Chiron,” from the band’s forthcoming album, ‘Overcome,’ online at the official ALL THAT REMAINS MySpace page. In addition to the launch of the audio, the band shot a video to accompany the song earlier this summer while in Los Angeles with director Brian Thompson (As I Lay Dying, Killswitch Engage, Angels And Airwaves) and The Vault LA. There is a behind the scenes sneak peak available here and the finished clip will see a debut online later this week.

“I'm really pumped about Chiron,” frontman Phil Labonte says. “It's one of the favorites on the new disc so we can't wait for people to hear it. We had a really good time working with Brian for the video too, and we're very happy with his work.” In the meantime, ALL THAT REMAINS is currently out on the road as part of this year’s Vans Warped Tour is already busy supporting the Sept. 16 release of ‘Overcome.’ “These shows have been NUTS!” Labonte continues. “Kids come out and go totally bonkers, or wait in line for two or three hours just to say, ‘what's up.’ It's really amazing to be a part of this.”

In addition, ALL THAT REMAINS has confirmed a fall co-headlining tour with Trivium upon completion of the Warped Tour dates, including an a spot at this year’s Lunatic Luau in Virginia Beach, Va. Reappearing at the annual event after last year’s first appearance, the band will play alongside Sevendust, Ratt, Hatebreed, and more at the Verizon Wireless Virginia Beach Amphitheater Sept. 6. Tickets and more information are available at http://www.fm99.com/luau.asp and http://www.livenation.com/luau12.

‘Overcome’ is the follow-up to ALL THAT REMAINS’ hugely-successful and critically-acclaimed breakthrough album, ‘The Fall of Ideals,’ which saw a July 2008 release. The album spawned three music videos as well an appearance on Guitar Hero II with the fan favorite track “Six,” and a follow-up DVD, ‘All That Remains Live,’ which contains footage from two live shows, a slew of the band’s music videos, fan and band interviews, behind the scenes footage and more.
