Italian horror-themed deathcore act STIGMA has inked a deal with Florida’s Pivotal Rockordings. The band’s debut album, When Midnight Strikes, is currently being recorded at Db Studios with producer Ettore Rigotti (DISARMONIA MUNDI).

Commented vocalist Vlad: "This is an important day for STIGMA. We're so damn proud to announce that we've just joined US based Pivotal Rockordings to release our first metal monster in late winter. This is day one of STIGMA's new era and we couldn’t be more excited, cause we have just joined one of the most loyal, hard working and killer labels in the metal community! After having been ripped off by a label 2 weeks before entering the studio, we were shocked, but the guys in Pivotal Rockordings let us feel like a part of their family from the first day and this is sadly not so common these days! We're just about to finish recording our debut, and we really can't wait to let you hear the result of 14 months of writing and recording! So thanks to Leevan, Alexi, Steven, Ian, Hans and all the other guys over there at Pivotal Rockordings for trusting in us as well all of our fans who supported us from the beginning; this means the world to us! See you all very soon, touring is coming next!"

When Midnight Strikes will feature guest appearances from Tim Zlinsky (THE CLASSIC STRUGGLE), Jacob Bredahl (HATESPHERE), Alberto Zannier (SLOWMOTION APOCALYPSE), Ivan Odorico (SLOWMOTION APOCALYPSE), and Mike Lunacy (DARK LUNACY).

SOILWORK, CHIMAIRA and KREATOR are among the confirmed bands for the sixth edition of the Aalborg Metal Festival, set to take place November 2-3, 2007 in Aalborg, Denmark. The festival billing is shaping up as follows:

    For more information, visit

“My heart’s like an open book, for the whole world to read” goes the famous Motley Crue lyric. But few rockers have followed these words as closely as drummer Phil Varone, who over a four year period, allowed a thorough and no-holds-barred window into his personal life – the end result being the unflinching documentary on the ups and downs of rock n’ roll, ‘Waking Up Dead.’ Directed by Emmy Award winning journalist and filmmaker Fabio Jafet, the near hour and a half documentary was first released in 2005, and has now been issued as an expanded DVD, via Demolition Records and MVD Entertainment Group.

The way that the media often portrays rock stars is one of a dream-come-true existence. And while quite a few of Varone’s rock n’ roll dreams came true, it’s certainly not all champagne, caviar, and limos for a working musician, and Varone and Jafet pull no punches throughout ‘Waking Up Dead,’ as such topics as addiction, how to support your family on meager earnings, and business betrayal are all dissected and analyzed. While countless musicians have indulged in ‘the rock n’ roll lifestyle’ over the years, few have had the nerve to document it all as thoroughly as Varone does, which results in a head-on collision you just can’t turn away from…known as ‘Waking Up Dead.’

“Phil was incredibly brave and trustful to allow me to tell his story,” explains Jafet. “The only way this movie could have been done was with all access and no censoring. I was not interested in doing a 'Behind The Music.' There was no point.”

What you get is a flick that truly encompasses sex, drugs, and rock n’ roll – times ten. “I didn’t want to make any ordinary documentary. I think most of them are flat and boring and carry the stigma of being called ‘documentary.’ I wanted to break the rules and make something that stood out visually and emotionally.”

  • Sweden's TYRANT reclaim the flame with Listenable

According a statement from the debut black metal band you must hear:

On the edge of the precipice, there is only one way back, and that is by taking a step forward.

The band that was to become TYRANT was something we had been wanting to create for a long time. But it was nothing we planned, it just happened. But now afterwards we realize that it was inevitable. And when something comes naturally, it's a result of honesty. We were simply pissed off about the development in music today, it needed to be reminded of how it´s supposed to be.

    January 2007.

We were in studio Beast drinking beer like we often do. Peter had been drunk the day before and had recorded an idea, which he shared with the rest of us, and to us it was obvious how we needed to develop it further. Once you start working, the inspiration sets in. We made the songs, recorded them live, most of them in just one take, and barely mixed them. The album was completed in 26 hours! We realized we had created something unique. TYRANT was born. When others talk about perfectionism, we talk about simplicity. When others talk about beautifying, we talk about uglifying. Sometimes it's right to be wrong.

    -D.F.Bragman July 2007

HOLLYWOOD – “The Evacuation Plan” [Black Victory Records] is the sophomore solo works of bassist Piggy D. from Rob Zombie. Taking the opportunity to write and record while the band (Zombie) takes a short hiatus from touring, Piggy D. wrote 35 hard-driving rock songs pulling all the lyrics from journals kept throughout the years.

Hailing from New Orleans Piggy D. experienced the tragedy of the hurricanes that left the state in complete devastation. Diving headfirst into the experience he pulled all the lyrics from journals kept throughout the years. “Living through this disaster and seeing all the real drama prompted me to write this album,” explains Piggy D. The result was a collection of brutally honest rock songs and unexpected classic ballads.

Playing in several bands in his teens, Piggy D. relocated to Boston and met Wednesday 13 of the Murderdolls. Piggy was invited to play guitar in 13's solo band. Piggy stayed with the band until early 2006 when he left the band to join up with rock legend Rob Zombie.

'The Evacuation Plan' is set for release on July 31, 2007. The album features Tommy Clufetos of Rob Zombie on all drums, and Calico Cooper on guest background vocals. The album was co-produced by Dave Spreng (Valient Thor, Damone).

Pre-buy “The Evacuation Plan” on July 24th, be one of the first 200 and receive a signed copy of the CD with a signed full color poster from Piggy D. For more information go to www.piggyd.com

Due to a recently diagnosed injury, DIMMU BORGIR drummer Hellhammer will be unable to play drums for the band on the remaining festival dates this summer and the upcoming European tour with Amon Amarth and Hatesphere.

Hellhammer's x-ray confirmed a severe neck prolapse causing numbness in his right arm. He will be going into treatment soon and could - quite possibly - undergo corrective surgery.

Taking over drum duties for the upcoming shows will be Tony Laureano (Nile, Angelcorpse, Aurora Borealis), who played for DIMMU BORGIR during the band's North American stint on Ozzfest in 2004 and during festival performances throughout 2005.

We wish Hellhammer a swift and successful recovery!
  • ARCH ENEMY - Reveal new album cover artwork, US tour, special “Kerrang!” show!

Metal maestros ARCH ENEMY are proud to present you the artwork of their upcoming, highly anticipated new masterpiece “Rise of The Tyrant”, which will be unleashed upon the metal world on September 24th, 2007.

ARCH ENEMY mastermind Michael Amott (guitars) comments on the artwork created by Niklas Sundin / Cabin Fever Media as follows: “This time around I turned to Niklas Sundin to bring the ‘RISE OF THE TYRANT’ imagery to life, and what a splendid job he did! I am always amazed by this man’s imagination and talent, and his seemingly never-ending patience in dealing with me! We worked closely on the project from the beginning and what we ended up with is something somewhat different to what we have done in the past: Less colours, quite clandestine and very sinister! Wonderful! The track ‘RISE OF THE TYRANT’ is musically the most extreme song we recorded and Angela’s lyrics fitted perfectly the mood of the music so we decided this had to be the name of the album. The cover reflects the atmosphere of total megalomania inspired by that song. The booklet artwork is really lending itself towards intense merchandise and stage production ideas, all of which will be revealed soon. But for now, stare into the all-seeing eye of the rising tyrant!”

Furthermore the band can already announce details of their upcoming live activities. Prior to crushing Europe in Nov./Dec. 2007 on the “Black Crusade” tour with Machine Head, Trivium, Dragonforce and Shadows Fall, ARCH ENEMY will head out for “The Black Tyranny” US co-headliner tour with Machine Head, visit Australia with Machine Head and Trivium, as well as perform an exclusive show at London’s club The Barfly on August 17th, so get your necks prepared for some of the heaviest live shows in 2007!

  • HIMSA - Post New Track Online; Embark On European Tour!

Like a voracious hellion, the mighty HIMSA have returned to annihilate the masses with their scathing new metal assault, “Summon In Thunder”, which is set for a September 17th release. The scathing new track, “Big Timber,” can now be streamed on the band’s official MySpace page www.myspace.com/himsa. The group will also head overseas this September for a month-long European tour alongside As I Lay Dying, Darkest Hour and label mates Maroon.

Johnny Pettibone states: ““Summon in Thunder” - History has repeated itself in nature's vicious circle, giving a warning to the deterioration and collapse of humanity around us all. The heaviness of inspiration and failure, the strive to succeed and the pain of defeat. A call of cleansing for man's evils throughout the ages be it political, environmental, religious, or individual mental being. We all are guilty in the journey of survival.”

“Summon In Thunder” will also include such exclusive extras as a video for the track "Unleash Carnage," a 15-minute making-of-the-album documentary.

This scorching new effort (and debut Century Media offering) also marks the return of original guitarist, Sammi Curr, to the fold. With Curr rejoining and collaborating with Kirby Johnson (guitars), the group's integrity and passion were at an all-time high, resulting in their most dynamic, yet devastating material yet.In 2007, HIMSA are destined to leave a definitive mark on the genre.

  • ALMAH - solo debut album from Angra vocalist

Angra’s vocalist Edu Falaschi has recorded his first solo album. The project is called “Almah” and it relies not only on Edu’s talents as a singer, songwriter, arranger and producer but also on the likes of drummer Casey Grillo (Kamelot), guitarist Emppu Vuorinen (Nightwish) and bassist Lauri Porra (Stratovarius). Almah has participation of several guest musicians, such as Mike Stone (Queensrÿche’s guitar player) and Edu Ardanuy (Dr. Sin’s guitar player), among many others, and was mixed in Brazil by producer Adriano Daga. Daga has worked with many artists during his winning career, including Lenny Kravitz and Silverchair. He’s been awarded a Grammy in 2005.

Edu Falaschi wrote all the songs and lyrics of the album and recorded all keyboards and acoustic guitar parts by himself. Furthermore Edu came up with the guitar, bass, drums, keyboards, vocal and orchestral arrangements. According to him, this was his main motivation when figuring the new project out: “It’s a completely new experience. I was able to fully explore my creative sides as a songwriter, lyricist, arranger and producer”, he said.

Musically, Edu says that, even though the “songs are pretty different from each other”, the album is not too far away from the heavy metal genre that’s made him a successful artist worldwide. “My main goal when doing this album was coming up with something that would not focus that much on the individual musicians, but rather in the music itself.” He believes the Almah repertoire will work live pretty well too. “After all, we’re talking about songs with amazing choruses and exciting harmonies. I would say the melodies are really emotional and build an extremely positive atmosphere.” Furthermore, Almah revolves around a very specific concept. “It discusses our feelings basically”, says the singer. Almah is a so-called universe with a lot of different worlds, namely our feelings. Therefore, each person ‘inhabits’ and grows in his own world. To put it simply, some inhabit the world of greed, others the world of courage, hatred, love and so on. This is what defines the personalities of each one of us.

Each song from the album refers to a particular emotion. In order to illustrate that, Edu Falaschi approached different situations that were directly influential to the paths of history. “I am not willing to resume a historical study of humanity. I'd rather focus on why these feelings occur and what leads human beings into the reactions to them.” Edu also explains the true meaning behind the word ‘almah’. “In Portuguese, the word is instantly linked to the Portuguese term for ‘soul’, which is ‘alma’. The soul is the truest thing that emanates from one’s inner self. And that’s exactly the meaning of this project. As for the actual meaning of ‘almah’, some scholars say it means ‘purity’ or ‘virginity’ in Hebrew. Others sustain it actually stands for ‘malice’ or ‘perversion’, though. Anyway, this is the duality that inhabits everybody’s actual existence, two sides that form the whole, ourselves. The soul.” (Antonio Carlos Monteiro)

The Heavy Metal Box Features 70 Songs Spotlighting the Genre's First Golden Age Between 1968 and 1991 Including Music From Iron Maiden, Deep Purple, Metallica, Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Iron Butterfly, Pantera, Alice Cooper, Venom, Testament, Motorhead, Slayer, Rush, Megadeth, Kiss and More

Four-Disc Boxed Set, Packaged to Resemble an Amplifier With an Authentic Marshall Knob, Will Be Available October 2 From Rhino

LOS ANGELES -- Heavy metal is not for the faint of heart. The songs don't want you to dance, shake, spin, or jump. They insist that you bang your head. Forget nuances or subtlety, heavy metal's main concern is kicking your ass. Rhino dives into the mosh pit with a four-disc collection of musical wickedness that packs more fire and brimstone than an Aleister Crowley barbeque. THE HEAVY METAL BOX will be available October 2 at all retail outlets and at www.rhino.com for a suggested price of $64.98. The set will be offered in limited edition packing that resembles an amplifier. In a nod to Spinal Tap -- whose song "Big Bottom" is included in the set -- the faux-amp box features an authentic, turn-able Marshall knob allowing you to literally turn it up to 11.

Arranged chronologically, the compilation gathers 70 choice selections from various record labels tracing the evolution of metal during its first golden age between 1968 and 1991. THE HEAVY METAL BOX presents more than five hours of blistering fury guaranteed to send devil horn salutes in the air.

The genre's progenitors get their due with the supreme heaviness of Iron Butterfly's "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" and the hoodlum metal mania of Blue Cheer's cover of "Summertime Blues." "From that point on," renowned metal journalist Mick Wall writes in the boxed set's meticulous liner notes, "the floodgates were thrown wide open as a whole slew of next-generation rock bands, disenchanted by the empty promises of the so-called love generation, arrived like drunken, rabble-rousing gate-crashers at the party, intent on ripping up the rulebook, throwing love out the window -- along with all the flowers -- and replacing them with a distinctly unsettling ambience all their own. From here on in, rock music would no longer be a dance. It would be an arena to do battle in."

Along with Wall's detailed history of metal, the boxed set's exhaustive liner notes also include rare photos, a track-by-track commentary, Ronnie James Dio discussing metal's infamous mano cornuta salute (aka "The Horns"), Lita Ford reflecting on her role as the "first lady of metal," multiple artist tributes, and more.

THE HEAVY METAL BOX invokes some of metal's biggest names with Alice Cooper's "Billion Dollar Babies"; Black Sabbath's "Neon Knights"; "Highway Star" by "the loudest group in the world," Deep Purple; Iron Maiden's "The Phantom Of The Opera" with singer Paul Di'Anno and "The Number Of The Beast" with singer Bruce Dickinson; Judas Priest's "The Ripper" and "You've Got Another Thing Comin'"; Metallica's "Whiplash" and uber-doom-ballad "One"; Megadeth's searing political statement "Peace Sells"; Slayer's soul crushing "South of Heaven"; and Pantera's marriage of metal and hardcore on "Cowboys From Hell." The boxed set also includes songs by Ted Nugent, Kiss, W.A.S.P., Diamond Head, Venom, Living Colour, and a pair of tracks featuring leather-lunged Lemmy Kilmister who appears on Hawkwind's "Lost Johnny" and Motorhead's "Ace of Spades."

Metal is an immense genre and this collection spotlights its many offshoots including progressive metal (Rush's "Working Man," Mercyful Fate's "Black Funeral," Queensryche's "Queen Of The Reich," and Prong's "Beg To Differ"); black metal (Angel Witch's "White Witch" and Venom's "Witching Hour"); thrash/speed metal (Testament's "Trial By Fire," Raven's "Star War," Overkill's "Wrecking Crew," and Anthrax's "Caught In A Mosh"); boogie metal (Rose Tattoo's "Nice Boys"); Christian metal (Stryper's "To Hell With The Devil"); party metal (Fastway's "Say What You Will" and Krokus' "Midnite Maniac"); and death metal (Sepultura's "Dead Embryonic Cells").

While America and Britain were metal's primary foundries, they were certainly not the only ones. Australia birthed the fast 'n' nasty Rose Tattoo while Germany proffered newly minted, power-first outfits like the Michael Schenker Group and Accept. From the deceptively sleepy Switzerland came the manic Krokus while Sweden yielded a genuine guitar god in the Ritchie Blackmore-obsessed Yngwie J. Malmsteen. Even Japan came up with their own version of the phenomenon in the aptly-named Loudness.

In the '80s, MTV helped bring the hair metal movement into homes across the nation making bands such as Dokken, Ratt, Hanoi Rocks, Skid Row, Whitesnake, Cinderella, Poison, Twisted Sister, and Quiet Riot famous hitmakers. "By the end of the '80s," Wall writes, "heavy metal had come full circle to the point where it was simultaneously riven by so many new categories and subgenres that you needed an encyclopedia to make sense of it all -- and yet it was more universally popular than ever before."

  • Details announced for THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER’s upcoming release NOCTURNAL

The often imitated yet never duplicated Detroit deathsters The Black Dahlia Murder have returned to the public eye to reclaim their rightful throne as leaders of all things extreme with their third blackened opus of thrashing melodic death metal, Nocturnal. "I don't think the pretenders will be able to match this one," proclaims vocalist Trevor Strnad of their scorching new offering, "It's fucking over the top. Brian (Eschbach; guitarist/songwriter) has really outdone himself this time. The kid eats lightning and shits chains."

Recorded at Trax East with Eric Rachel and mixed by Jason Seucof at Audiohammer, the band’s third full length Metal Blade release, Nocturnal, is chock full of flesh searing riffage, mind-bending guitar solos by fret-freak John Kempainen, and the disgustingly poetic gore soaked lyricism that legions of the band's manically adoring fans have been hungering for. “From the songs, to the artwork, to the sound quality itself, we could not be more pleased with the results” states vocalist Trevor Strnad. Be sure to catch the band live on the Metal Blade 25th Anniversary tour where they will be unleashing some new material off of Nocturnal.

  • HATE ETERNAL announces new drummer/in pre-production mode!

HATE ETERNAL is proud to announce their new permanent drummer JADE SIMONETTO to the band.
Erik Rutan comments "Jade and I have been working together for 6 months or so and his incredible skill and dedication to extreme drumming and groove has made him the perfect drummer for Hate Eternal. We gel on everything from all the old songs to the new and the creativity process has been amazing working with Jade on the new songs, so much diversity and signature drumming to the melodies and riffs.

We have been in the middle of pre-production right now for weeks and will be doing pre-production until the end of August and then start recording the drums tracks for our new album! I am super excited about the new material and Alex (Webster of Cannibal Corpse) is coming up with some incredible bass lines!!! This album is covering a lot more ground than previously and I am excited to be jamming with Jade and Alex and a surprise is in the works! A lot more groove and diversity in an extreme way. We will record and mix between now and October with an early 2008 release on Metal Blade Records. I will keep you all updated!!”

  • My Fate's "MMVI" coming soon!!!

Finnish metallers My Fate are about to put out their long-awaited EP called "MMVI". The band has been around for seven years and their earlier works include two EP's and two full-lenght albums of quality metal. Everything has always been done at the band's own expense on their own record label My Fate Music.

MMVI is a new beginning for the band. Vocalist Antti Ojanen resigned last year and Jukka Ruostila was recruited for the job. MMVI is My Fate's first record with the new voice. The songs on the EP were mostly written when Ojanen was still a member, but the lyrics and final arrangements have been done with Jukka. The result is a very interesting mix of old and new. It is a look back, but also a step ahead.

With this release My Fate not only wants to be heard everywhere, but for the first time has what it takes to be acknowledged and respected throughout the metal world. With the new line-up, there is a completely new energy and chemistry within the band.

MMVI will be released in October on My Fate's website, free for everyone to download. However, a small digipak cd edition is being done first, mostly for promotional purposes. A very limited number of the cd edition will be sold, hand numbered, autographed and with extra material. This future collectible can be ordered right now on the band's website, www.myfateband.net.

  • INCANTATION speak out about South American tour issues.

"Cathedral Rock Promotions does not care about the bands, fans or anything else except how much money he can scam from everyone.” - John McEntee

John McEntee releases a strong statement about Cathedral Rock Productions:

“There were many problems working with Cathedral Rock Productions. I would like to let everyone in the metal community know that he is a real con-artist and after talking to many bands and promoters that have worked with him we all agree the conclusion is he is a all around a rip-off that does not care about the bands, fans or anything else except how much money he can scam from everyone.”

John continues, “Even with the major problems and financial loss that Cathedral Rock Productions had plagued on us, we still made the best of the tour and have worked with many great people. We also want to thank all the Incantation supporters that have came out to the shows along with everyone that have helped us make the best of our problems with Cathedral Rock Productions."

  • EXODUS Almost finished recordings of new album!

EXODUS are about to finish recordings for their next album and have announced a title for it. According to Guitar player Gary Holt, the new album title will be "The Baddest Slab Of Metal Recorded In Years". Veteran San Francisco Bay Area metallers EXODUS entered Sharkbite Studios in Oakland, California on June 10 with producer Andy Sneap (MEGADETH, MACHINE HEAD, NEVEMORE, ARCH ENEMY) to begin recording their new album for a late 2007 release.

VOODOO GODS were founded under the name SHRUNKEN HEAD; in TAMPA , early 2001 by Alex von Poschinger, Tony Norman (ex Morbid Angel/Monstrosity/Terrorizer) and Seth Van De Loo (Severe Torture).

In early 2006 VOODOO GODS were joined by Hiro (who had played and still plays with such bands as: Dies Irae, Sceptic, Decapitated and Virgin Snatch) on guitars and Nergal (Behemoth) on vocals.

2007 the band was joined by bass guru Jean Baudin (who played with such bands as Nuclear Rabbits and Element of Surprise), Mike Browning (who played with the Morbid Angel, Nocturnus, Acheron) on additional vocals and guitar legend David Shankle (who was 7 years with Manowar and recorded the mighty Triumph of Steel album with them) on lead guitar. Actually there isn't a biography .

We are VOODOO GODS and we have been always there, waiting a long time to cast our voodoo-spell upon mankind. The very existence. Just there with one mission: To play METAL music. That's all what counts; so enjoy our art and music......!! VOODOO GODS play METAL; with influences from Death and Thrash Metal.

Most of the lyrics deal with voodooism and spirits of nature, as well as the affects done by Christianity and colonialism. VOODOO GODS are a band and not a side project...... VOODOO GODS are an ancestral musical system of worship and ritual practices, were gods are born and honoured along with the veneration of ancient and recent ancestors, who earlier ruled the same tutelary gods. This band shares metaphysical conceptions based on a dual cosmological machinery of art. You could describe VOODOO GODS as: "The serpent under whose auspices gather all who share the faith" and music is the vehicle for the expression of the serpent's power. Their music is an expression of spirituality, of connection with divinity and the spirit world!!!!

    Voodoo Gods are:

Their debut E.P. will feature special appearances......and will be released August 2007.

  • Desolate Ways is back with former members

    - The doom metal band DESOLATE WAYS had anoter line-up change. The drummer Ricardo Giordano left the band to dedicate his time to other musical projects. About theis change the guitarist Elizeu Hainzenreder says: "We are very satisfied with the return of Igo as Desolate Ways' drummer. We are a band which has the luck that all the members were are childhood friends, it makes us a real family. The concerts to promote Tearful will continue untill the end of the year, when we will concentrate on the new album."

  • Conquest of Steel Drummer breaks wrist.

Conquest of Steel’s drummer Chris ’The Destroyer’ Mills broke his wrist at the DOD Festival in Ireland.

After putting in yet another larger then life Heavy Metal performance at DOD, the band set about drinking as much of the local ale as they could get their hands on. Unfortunately a drunken wrestling competition led to The Destroyer falling and landing heavily on his wrist. A trip to the local A&E confirmed the bands worst fears – the wrist was broken and surgery would be needed to repair the damage.

We are however happy to report that following surgery The Destroyer is now on the mend and should be back in action later in the year.

In the mean time long time friend of the band John Savage will be stepping up to the drum stool and standing in for The Destroyer on all the upcoming gigs.

Conquest of Steel would like to thank all at DOD who dealt with this emergency in such a professional manner, and of course Mr Savage for his commitment to the Steel

This incident follows the breaking of Bassist Vic Victory’s collar bone in an unrelated event. Vic is now well on his way to recovery and despite missing a handful of gigs is now playing with the Steel again despite the distinct possibility of surgery being needed to repair the long term damage to his collar bone.

Hopefully this will be the end of injuries for Conquest of Steel this year. But let it be known that not even broken bones will stop a Heavy Metal band in full flight. Conquest of Steel will continue to battle onwards for Metal regardless of any setbacks.

DEVIAN was originally founded by former Marduk members Legion (Vocals) and Emil Dragutinovic (Drums) after their departure from the Black Metal commando in their strife to come up with a new breed of wretched Scandinavian Metal. Together with guitarists Joinus, Markus Lundberg (both members of Sargathanas Reign) and bassplayer Tomas Nilsson, DEVIAN form an unstoppable organic extreme Metal machine driven by a raving hunger and deadset determination

Bandleader Legion comments on the signing with CM as follows: “Speaking for the whole band, I want to say that we’re psyched, to say the least, about initiating the DEVIAN onslaught on such a killer label as Century Media. We are all fans of the label and the music they’ve put out during the years. Having worked with them for some releases during the Marduk years, I know they always did a job well done to a fault. We couldn’t have found ourselves a better label home.”

DEVIAN have finished tracking their upcoming debut album at Sweden’s Art Decay Studio, whereas mixing duties were handled by sound-wizard Fredrik Nordström at Studio Fredman (At The Gates, Arch Enemy, Dimmu Borgir, etc.). DEVIAN’s debut will be entitled “Ninewinged Serpent” and is tentatively set for release via Century Media Records by October 2007.

Legion adds the following about the album: “It’s a pummeling blackened death thrasher, where we really tried to challenge ourselves and bring fresh elements to the music compared to our efforts in previous projects, and I’d say we managed to achieve that. What at first looked to be mine and Emil’s continuation of “World Funeral” grew into a much more multifaceted sound and we loved taking it in that direction and really making it all it could be. It’s no-bullshit raving metal straight from the heart charged with uncontrollable anger, haunting melodies and bone crushing heaviness. It’s got a lot of power and soul and we are all extremely proud of what we’ve managed to achieve.”

  • NOCTURNAL RITES - hit Japanese charts & announce more shows!

Sweden’s most sinful metal outfit NOCTURNAL RITES have entered the Japanese album charts with their latest album “The 8th Sin”, bassist Nils Eriksson comments on this phenomenal success:

"Wow is simply all I can come up with at the moment - charting on position #68 domestically in Japan and #28 among international acts is simply mind-blowing! Now we really look forward even more to returning to Japan once again - this time to play the Loud Park Festival in October. We also can't wait to start our busy fall headlining schedule in Sweden and Europe. I am quite confident that 2007 and 2008 will mark the biggest years in the history of the band. "The 8th Sin" already out-sold "Grand Illusion"...and it hasn't even been out a month in some territories! See you on tour, friends - and thanks a bunch to everyone for picking up "The 8th Sin" - we will pay you back by playing even louder, harder and longer than ever before! Noc 'em All! // Nils"

  • EYES OF EDEN sign to Century Media & announce debut album; post new track @ MySpace!

Century Media Records is proud to announce signing Waldemar Sorychta’s new band EYES OF EDEN. Sorychta was the musical mastermind of the first Century Media Band Despair who released their first album “History Of Hate” in 1988 with company founder Robert Kampf on vocals. Furthermore, Sorychta also was the mastermind behind some of Century Media’s most successful European bands, producing classic albums by Tiamat (“Wildhoney”), Moonspell (“Irreligious”, “Sin/Pecado”), Sentenced (“Frozen”, “Down”), The Gathering (“Mandylion”) or the biggest CM act ever, Lacuna Coil (from first EP “Lacuna Coil” to the latest album “Karmacode”). Not to forget Grip Inc., his Thrash Metal band that once featured Dave Lombardo of Slayer fame.

Shortly before Century Media’s 20th Anniversary in 2008 it feels like a circle is getting closed by releasing his new band’s album “Faith” that presents an exciting orchestral masterpiece of gothic rock/metal. The band is not only profiting from Sorychta’s outstanding producer and songwriter skills, but also his gift to discover a young talent like Franziska Huth who’s ethereal vocals add even more “Faith”, that EYES OF EDEN will stand the test of time for another 20 years in Century Media history. The album also features Gas Lipstick of HIM on drums, but the band already found a new drummer for future touring activities.

    Line Up:
    Franziska Huth - Vocals
    Waldemar Sorychta - Guitar
    Alla Fedynitch - Bass
Tom Diener – Drums (new band-member)
Gas Lipstick – Drums (only on this album)

At the band’s official MySpace page you can already listen to three songs taken off the band’s debut full-length “Faith”, go to www.myspace.com/eyesofedenband for a refreshing gothic rock/metal injection!

  • HIMSA post new album cover art!

Like a voracious hellion, the mighty HIMSA have returned to annihilate the masses with their scathing new metal assault, “Summon In Thunder”, which is set for a Sept. 17th release. Steve Carter (who produced HIMSA's second album “Courting Tragedy and Disaster”) produced the music while Devin Townsend (Lamb of God, Darkest Hour) produced vocals and the renowned Tue Madsen (The Haunted) brought it all together, nailing the mixing and mastering duties.

The disc’s eye-popping cover art was handled by the renowned Paul Romano (Mastodon, Trivium, The Red Chord). Click
