- ASGUARD - DREAMSLAVE
The new album is out and the critics are speaking. So far, Dreamslave
is locking in 9 out of 10 or better from reviewers around the world.
Fusing black and death metal like no other, Asguard are taking the metal
world by storm. The band kicks off their Fall tour this October throughout
Eastern Europe and beyond. Be sure to check out Wikka and Black Fire
Land by Asguard while they last!
- SOURVEIN - EMERALD VULTURE
The final touches are being added to Sourvein' next release entitled
Emerald Vulture. The release was scheduled for September, but graphic
and video delays have pushed the release back a bit. On a positive note,
Troy of Sourvein promises a punishing new set of material that will
blow our minds! There are currently talks of Sourvein touring with Ramesses
in the UK at the start of the new year. We'll let you know.
- RECOURSE - WEAKENING THE STRUCTURE
The bands debut release is on the streets, critics are loving it and
the new video for Fallout is being considered by MTV. Now all the band
has to do is get back out on the road and that's exactly what they're
doing. A handful of shows are being negotiated with Skinless and then
it's off on a full US tour in October. The guys are looking for support
help, so any help would be appreciated. Contact Devil Doll directly.
- ULTRALORD - ACT I
Ultralord, which features members of Fistula, Rue and other seminal
sludge / doom acts from around the midwest have signed to This Dark
Reign and are currently recording with Vince Burke of Beaten Back To
Pure. Corey Fistula tells us that this is the most punishing material
he has recorded to date and can't wait to kick things off at this year's
Ultralord Fest (formerly known as Fistula Fest). The new album will
debut in early 2006.
- CHUCK NORRIS EXPERIMENT
The killer debut release from The C.N.E. will hit the streets later
this year. If you're a fan of the Hives, Hellacopters, Gluecifer and
Turbonegro, then strap on your denim and leather and get ready to get
yer asses kicked! On tour throughout summer and fall in Europe.
- TRIGGER - EIGHTEEN BULLETS
Trigger have just returned from a highly successful European tour that
took them through Germany, Norway, France, Belgium, and Sweden. Their
new album Eighteen Bullets is receiving high praise and getting tons
of airplay on the European radio channels. Plans for a USA tour in 2006
are under way.
- NEGATIVE REACTION - UNDER THE ANCIENT PENALTY
Long Island sludge legends Negative Reaction have signed with This Dark
Reign, promising a stellar new set of doom material for 2006. The new
album is entitled Under the Ancient Penalty and the band promises to
showcase some of their new material to their live audience at this years
Ultralord Fest and beyond.
- ARCH ENEMY – “Doomsday Machine” in stores NOW!
Finally the newest work of the masters of Swedish extreme metal has
hit the stores and waits to be bought by the lusting fans of the quartet
featuring guitar-monster Michael Amott and front-lady Angela Gossow.
“Doomsday Machine” will be available as a limited edition
on CD (at the price of a normal CD, of course) and for all vinyl-freaks
also on “black gold” with a great layout and even greater
music! Meanwhile the band gets featured on numerous magazine covers
of European media (see left hand) proving their good sense in honouring
excellent music. In German Rock Hard “Doomsday Machine”
was chosen album of the month in august! Here another bunch of quotes
from Germany’s Metal press:
“The guitars on “Doomsday Machine“ simply kill everything
and degrade both riff-wise and regarding the awesome leads almost the
entire Melodic-Death competitors to nothing but interchangeable cannon
fodder.“ Album of the month in Rock Hard (D)
“Kneel down! The Swedes with the girl from Cologne as diabolic
angel of damnation stylistically undertake one step back, two to the
side and a real big one forward: more atmospheric, at the same time
more melodic yet rhythmic this essential masterpiece crowns the Gossow-era.”
14 / 15 points, Soundcheck position 2 in Legacy (D)
“Arch Enemy are technically still in the premier league and have
taken a musically intimidating development making the-monster-called
“Doomsday Machine” one of this year’s highlights.”
6 / 7 points, Soundcheck position 3 in Metal Hammer (D)
“Buy it, be amazed and freak out!” Metal Age (D)

- OLD MAN'S CHILD - New album in October!
Friends of top-notch Black Metal listen up, a new bestial piece of dark
and violent music is about to hit your ears. With the release of its
(66)6th full-length album “Vermin” on October 17th, 2005
the 1993 founded band is more than ready to top the praise its predecessor
“In Defiance Of Existence” legitimately received.
OLD MAN´S CHILD returned to Studio Fredman in Gothenburg, Sweden
(recording home of In Flames, Arch Enemy and others), with Patrik J.
Sten and Fredrik Nordström helping to create a new monster of an
album. “Vermin” offers a massively sounding, grim trip into
the sinister visions of mastermind Galder. With Danish beat-machine
Reno H. Kiilerich, who was drafted by Dimmu Borgir as a live drummer
after stints with Panzerchrist, Vile and Exmortem (and who won a drum
contest displaying the fastest footwork after exceeding over 800 hits
on the double-bass pedals in one minute) and a guest appearance by Dragonlord/Testament
guitarist Eric Peterson band founder Galder is in more than just good
company and with artwork by Greek artist Set<'H>“Vermin”
is also visually a dark and morbid slab of melodic, bombastic yet hateful
Black Metal.
OLD MAN’S CHILD – “Vermin” CD/LP Tracklist:
1. Enslaved And Condemned (4:15)
2. The Plague Of Sorrow (4:09)
3. War Of Fidelity (4:19)
4. In Torment's Orbit (5:04)
5. Lord Of Command [Bringer Of Hate] (4:51)
6. The Flames Of Deceit (4:39)

- SENTENCED – The very last show!
The perishing Finnish masters of melancholic, suicidal rock - who brought
tears to the eyes of quite some of the truly dedicated fans at their
farewell-show at Wacken Open Air this year – are slowly reaching
the end of the road. Soon the band will rest in peace forever. One small
cure for the agonising wrench is the new video stream to “Ever-Frost”
of the band’s final release “The Funeral Album” (released
May 30th 2005 via Century Media Records), which was shot by Mika Ronkainen
for Klaffi Productions and should leave no fan of the band dissatisfied.
You find it on our "download" area.
“The Funeral Album” reached position 1 in the official charts
of their home country Finland, position 49 in the official German charts
and position 59 in the official Austrian charts.
SENTENCED’s irreversible ultimate number of shows will take place
in the band’s home country in September and October (see exact
dates below) and should be a damn good reason to book a flight to Finland
now, because this will be something totally unforgettable! So be there
with a bag full of handkerchiefs and celebrate the onstage swan song
of this unique act.
The Funeral Tour 2005:
Sep 15th Jyväskylä Lutakko
Sep 17th Tampere Pakkahuone
Sep 19th Helsinki Nosturi

Sep 21st Turku Klubi
Sep 22nd Vaasa HulluPullo
Sep 23rd Kuopio Työnkulma

Guitarist Sami Lopakka comments: “We decided to finish our career
with this album, and knew already in the writing-process that this one
would become our last. It is a farewell album and this is the funeral
tour.”
Oulu’s finale is absolutely the last show of the band. The funeral
is a long spectacle and will include surprises from during the years.

- LIVE IN TOKYO CAPTURES ELECTRIFYING PERFORMANCES FROM JOE SATRIANI,
STEVE VAI & JOHN PETRUCCI
DVD AND DOUBLE-DISC CD SET FEATURES MUSIC RECORDED DURING G3 JAPAN TOUR
Celebrated Tour Immortalized on October 25th Release
(Los Angeles, CA) - Epic Records has announced an October 25th release
date for Live in Tokyo, a DVD and double-disc CD featuring guitar legends
Joe Satriani, Steve Vai and Dream Theater's John Petrucci. These electrifying
live performances were recorded on May 8th at the Tokyo Forum, when
critically acclaimed guitarist Satriani brought his popular G3 tour
to Japan for a series of sold-out dates.
Fans attending the packed-house shows were treated to individual sets
by each six-stringer, followed by an evening-ending all-star jam session.
The G3 tour began back in 1996 with a lineup that featured Satriani,
Vai and Eric Johnson. An action-packed DVD with performance highlights
was released and has since been certified platinum. In 1997, Satriani
and Vai again reunited and added Kenny Wayne Shepherd and Robert Fripp
to the bill. In May 1998, the tour headed to Europe where Satriani was
joined by Uli Jon Roth and former Scorpions guitarist Michael Schenker.
The 2001 G3 tour featured the team of Satriani and Vai again, along
with Petrucci. In fall 2003 Satriani and Vai were joined by Swedish
player Yngwie Malmsteen for a successful 5-week run. A live CD, entitled
G3 Live: Rockin' in the Free World and a nearly platinum DVD entitled
G3 Live In Denver were released on February 24, 2004.

- IMPALED Prove There Is Death After Life
Oakland’s Impaled are preparing to defile the South Western U.S.!
Supporting their latest release, Death After Life, and performing with
Disgorge and Blessing The Hogs, the band will be surreptitiously cavorting
with local morticians and grave robbers beginning Sept. 23rd. Vocalist/guitarist
Sean McGrath said of the tour, “We’re super excited. No,
wait, that's how I feel about ordering pizza and watching Dawn of the
Dead. Of course we're all really itching to get out there and play with
Blessing The Hogs and Disgorge, the only bands kind enough to agree
to such a suicidal endeavor. As most people know, getting involved with
us is nearly almost always a disaster of immense proportions. The southwest
is one of the best areas of the country for metal and the fans are always
totally insane. As most people know, we love the fans.”

ATTACKER: Line-Up Revamped! "Battle" Live in the US! 2006
European Tour in the Works!
History has occured, once again, in the camp of the Lords Of Thunder!
In what has to be a strange, but inevitable, turn of events, Attacker's
original Bass player Lou Ciarlo has returned to the band as a full time
member! Lou will perform on the bands newest album "THE UNKNOWN".
Ciarlo, was the member responsible for penning the bands Power Metal
classic "THE SECOND COMING" as well as co-writing most of
the highly successful come-back "SOUL TAKER" album. Ciarlo
will (if he hasn't already as of this writing) enter the bands rehearsal
studio to begin refining, then adding, his musical character to the
upcoming album.
After the completion of the album, the band plans on a special performance
of the entire "BATTLE" album here in the US in celebration
of the returned Bassist later this year! Venue, date, time and special
guests will soon be announced! Much like their previous performance
in Hamburg Germany, they will perform the entire "BATTLE"
album as well as current favorites and other Attacker classics. This
should be a great event for fans of the band and of Heavy Metal in General!
While on the subject of live performances, the band are already in the
negotiating stages of planning their European tour for 2006. There will
also be more US dates for 2006 as well. Most of these dates will consist
of Festival appearances with some regional shows in between.
In summation, four of the original members of this great band are back
together and will be ready to conquer the stages once again in 2006!!
Welcome home Lou Ciarlo!!
In our next update, Lou Ciarlo comments on his return! Further developements
for the bands live shows, for later this year, of course, and for their
upcoming European trek in 2006. More details on the label in which the
new album will be released on and much, much more!!! As we said previously,
prepare to escape "THE UNKNOWN"!!
Stay Tuned........................

- STRAPPING YOUNG LAD Wrap Up Successful Run On The Sounds of The Underground
Tour; Fall US Tour In The Works
Canadian extremists STRAPPING YOUNG LAD recently completed a highly
successful run on the inaugural Sounds of The Underground tour in support
of their genre-defying breakthrough new album, Alien, which critics
are already hailing as their best offering yet. The group's overly intense
live performances captivated the uninitiated crowds who were immediately
drawn to the band's perfect blend of melodic industrial thrash insanity.
Expect a major US fall tour announcement to be made real soon.
Devin Townsend (vocals, guitars) checks in with the following report:
"So the Sounds of The Underground tour was great fun and a heck
of a way to spend the summer. Gene Hoglan (drums) filled in for Opeth
on the SOTU tour while Jon from Devildriver filled in for Byron Stroud,
who was out with Fear Factory...Polygamy! Good music, lots of friends
and some great crowds. Also, during the SOTU, Gwar and I had a real
meeting of the minds and decided to work together. I had a revelation
while watching them and hopefully it's going to be the best record ever
made, so watch out!"
"We are looking to do a US tour starting late October and then
head to Europe with Meshuggah. Japan and Australia will follow shortly
after, hopefully along with a new video for 'Zen.' I'm currently recording
the new Devin Townsend Band record, which is great and soothing. Strapping
thanks you for your patronage! Rock out with your clock out."

- SIX FEET UNDER check in from the road!
Hello from the road!! Just wanted to give all you Six Feet Under fans
an update...we're currently at the half way point on the Nothing Remains
tour opening up for Chimaira. Sitting here in Charleston, WV tonight...we
are having a fucking amazing tour. Simply amazing...so far, the crowds
have been insane on this. its awesome, I mean, this to me will be a
tour that I will remember for a long time, right up there with the Danzig
tour we did in 2000 and my second US tour in 1992 with Agnostic Front,
Obituary, and Malevolent Creation, when I was in Corpse. The other opening
bands on this one, All That Remains and 3 inches of blood are cool as
fuck too and are kicking major ass as well. There have been a few really
stand out shows, one of my favorites was in Bellefontaine, OH for Woodshock.
It was a really cool gathering and I want to put my special thanks out
to the promoter of the festival, Tim Buchenroth, you gave your blood
for that fest brother, our condolences to you and your family. Every
night has been a fucking brutal adventure shared with the company of
new found friends
Chimaira-you guys are the best, and I am proud as fuck to be out on
this motherfucker with you guys, you are true friends. This is the ultimate
tour. If you're missing these dates, you're missing metal history. Until

- SUSPERIA EP RELEASE DATE CONFIRMED
SUSPERIA, the extreme melodic metal band from Norway have announced
the official release date for their highly anticipated EP, Devil May
Care. The special edition CD will be released in Europe on 26th September
2005 through TABU Recordings.
The EP features a mix of original and cover songs that have been drawn
from various recording sessions. Tracks appearing on the release are
the Unlimited album track Devil May Care, new song Venting The Anger
and three covers, which the band has been performing occasionally at
live shows. Lack Of Comprehension originally recorded by Death, Wild
Child originally recorded by WASP and the much sought after version
of The Sun Always Shines On TV - a worldwide hit for fellow Norwegians
A-Ha. As an added bonus the release contains the promo videos for Chemistry
and Devil May Care as well as screensavers, wallpapers and booklet picture
gallery. The EP was completed at StrandStudio in Oslo, Norway. Production
duties were once again handled by the band and engineered by Marius
Strand
Highlights are the new song Venting The Anger which steamrollers it's
way into your conscience with its incessant guitars and chorus, and
the A-ha cover The Sun Always Shines On TV. The latter choice of song
will come as a surprise to many, but demonstrates the bands diverse
approach to music and their willingness to take on new challenges. The
promo video for Devil May Care which features highlights from SUSPERIA's
impressive performance at 2004's Inferno Festival, as well as footage
from recent tours was directed by Severin Eskeland, Athera and Tjodalv.
Work on the EP started in January, but was immediately beset by a series
of problems, resulting in various delays to its release. The first complication
came when vocalist Athera lost his voice during the recording. Further
setbacks followed including technical hitches and missing artwork, before
everything was finally complete and in the can.
Minor problems aside, 2005 has seen SUSPERIA continue to build on the
success of the acclaimed Unlimited album - regarded by many as one of
the best rock / metal releases of 2004. Their efforts were recognised
with a nomination in the Metal category at Norway's prestigious Alarm
awards. On the live front SUSPERIA were invited to be the main support
on the 2005 Reunion European Tour of bay area thrash legends Testament.
The time in between has been spent on writing new material for the next
album, which will be due in 2006.
SUSPERIA released their third full-length album, Unlimited last year.
It has continued to show growth and has gone on to exceed sales figures
of the bands' previous album Vindication, which was released by Nuclear
Blast. Unlimited charted at No.43 on Norway's Official Album Charts
and made an immediate impact in the US, becoming the third most added
album at influential CMJ Loud Rock Radio, while also making the number
three slot on the Crucial Spin charts. The bands' video for Chemistry
received regular airplay through such video outlets as MTV2's Headbanger's
Ball, Havoc TV, NRK and Scuzz.
SUSPERIA will wind up the year with a Norwegian and European tour that
is being lined up to promote the release of Devil May Care. Details
will be announced shortly. Metal

raw recording, attitude and thoughtful compositions differentiate them

- IRON MAIDEN manager: Ozzfest fans "vile"
Condemns group who threw lighters and eggs at band
NEW YORK (Billboard) -- Iron Maiden's manager has condemned Ozzfest
fans who pelted the band with debris during its performance at the hard
rock festival's weekend stop near Los Angeles. The British metal veterans
also endured periodic outages of the sound system, and Ozzfest organizer
Sharon Osbourne came on stage afterwards to call Maiden frontman Bruce
Dickinson a "prick" for allegedly berating her husband, Ozzy
Osbourne. Sunday's dramatic show in San Bernardino, California, was
Iron Maiden's last on the Ozzfest tour; Velvet Revolver has joined the
lineup in its place.
"In 30 years in this business and after hundreds of gigs I have
never seen anything anywhere near as disgusting and unprofessional as
what went on that night," Ron Smallwood said on Maiden's Web site
(www.ironmaiden.com).
"The scale, viciousness and concentration of the throwing made
it obvious that this was a premeditated and coordinated attack. Assaulting
musicians while performing by throwing bottle tops, lighters and eggs
at them from just a few yards away is vile, dangerous, criminal and
cowardly."
Without naming names, Smallwood says he knew who was responsible for
attempting to sabotage Iron Maiden's set, audio and video clips of which
have begun circulating online.
"Those who participated or stood idly by and watched as all this
went down should also be ashamed of themselves and I would certainly
hope they never come near a tour with which we are involved," Smallwood
added.
"If l had any sort of problem or misunderstanding with a band working
on a tour we were involved in I would go and talk to them or their manager
-- not wait until the end of a tour and assault and ambush them,"
he continued. Metal

The manager of a well-known heavy metal band (NOT IRON MAIDEN) who attended
this past weekend's Ozzfest show at the Hyundai Pavillion in Devore,
California has submitted the following first-hand account of the evening
that will surely go down as one of the most shameful moments in recent
rock history (NOTE: at his request, the author's identity is being protected
by BLABBERMOUTH.NET):
"Saturday night's Ozzfest at the Hyundai Pavillion near Los Angeles
was a debacle on so many levels, I am still in shock as I write this.
As a fan of many of the bands [Saturday] night, one can only hope this
was an isolated incident, but sadly, it most likely wasn't. As many
of you have heard already, co-headliners and metal legends IRON MAIDEN
were pelted with eggs, bottle caps, beer cups, spit on, had people from
the Ozzfest camp talking over the PA during their set, had 'Eddie' delayed
from his onstage entrance, had members of the [BLACK LABEL SOCIETY]
entourage rush the stage with American flags, and had the PA intentionally
turned off over 6 times, all by the OSBOURNE CAMP.
"While it's still unclear as to the exact reasons why the terrorizing
started (rumors abounded as to why, with everything from Bruce calling
out Ozzy in the UK rock magazine Kerrang! on the widely known fact that
Ozzy uses a teleprompter, to various vague references said on stage
about a 'reality show' at an Ozzfest stop in Detroit), one thing was
very clear: The whole thing stunk, and left me, and nearly all of the
40,000+ heavy metal fans in attendance angered and disappointed. Not
that behind the scenes bickering or magazine trash talking is anything
new to rock fans, but the shocking lack of professionalism at one of
the largest stops in North America in front of 40,000 + spectators,
at the hand of the Osbournes was nothing short of disgusting.
"It all began early in the afternoon, when many side stage bands
were openly approached in clear view of everyone backstage by Sharon
and Kelly Osbourne to 'join them in throwing eggs at IRON MAIDEN this
evening.' All the bands were encouraged to rally the other side stage
bands to do so. Members and/or friends of the hardcore band BURY YOUR
DEAD were seen actively trying to encourage other side stage bands to
'join in the fun.' Thankfully, many side stage bands angrily declined.
"Later that evening, as IRON MAIDEN came on stage, their intro
was interrupted by [BLACK LABEL SOCIETY] hanger-on and biker wannabe
Big Dave, who was at the soundboard loudly chanting 'Ozzy, Ozzy' over
the PA. MAIDEN opened their set and the entire band was pelted from
the front row with eggs, beer, beer cups, spit and various other objects
by an Ozzfest-credentialed, bandana-wearing, Osbourne entourage. IRON
MAIDEN, ever the professionals, continued through their set, and by
the time they launched into their second song, 'The Trooper,' Bruce
changed into a civil war-era, red coat and began waving a Union Jack
British flag. Then, someone in, or associated with, BLACK LABEL SOCIETY
tried to rush the stage waving and American Flag with the words 'Don't
fuck with Ozzy' scrawled across his bare chest. He was tackled and beaten
by MAIDEN crew and promptly thrown off stage.
"As 'The Trooper' ended, frontman Bruce Dickinson, with characteristic
spunk, launched into a scathing attack on the people terrorizing his
band, calling them 'a sorry excuse for an Ozzy Osbourne fan,' and wondering
aloud how, 'three dozen eggs could get snuck into the front row of Ozzfest
by people with Ozzfest laminates?' Though he never named names, all
in attendance could understand who he was referring to. Nicko McBrain
ran up to the front asking Bruce to hold on while he cleaned egg off
his drums. He then stated the the next song wouldn't be heard on 'Your
local cocksucking corporate radio station, wouldn't be seen on MTV anymore,
and sure as hell wouldn't be played on a fucking reality TV show,' met
by a huge roar from the crowd.
"During the song 'Hallowed Be Thy Name,' Bruce, after only the
first two lines, stopped singing and ran to the front row, firing back
at his terrorizers, saying 'That asswipe right there, with the curly
hair, the fucking glasses, and Ozzfest laminate throw his fucking ass
out of here right now. It's gonna take more than eggs to stop IRON MAIDEN,
and if it wasn't for a lawsuit, I'd rip your fucking head off right
now, you piece of shit!!!' He had the various attackers ejected and
continued with a blistering version of the song until right before the
big sing long at the end, the PA was INTENTIONALLY cut off. When it
came back, Bruce launched into another scathing attack saying that they
were supposed to play a shorter set than normal today, and only play
55 minutes, but IRON MAIDEN can't drive 55, or play 55, and were going
to play our whole fucking set tonight.
"The band endured six more 'PA cuts,' including having the power
to their amps turned off at one point. When the PA would come back on,
they would simply launch into the next IRON MAIDEN classic, never missing
a beat. Frankly, with every PA cut, the band just got meaner and meaner,
playing each new song with an anger and a fire that was at times, simply
astonishing to watch. Bruce began the introduction to IRON MAIDEN with
a speech about 'Your constitution has something about 'We The People.'
Well let me tell you, the only reason we are up here tolerating this
bullshit, is because of you people. You have been amazing Glen Helen,
and there are A LOT of IRON MAIDEN fans here tonight,' eliciting a huge
roar from the crowd. He continued, 'It's gonna take more than eggs to
stop IRON MAIDEN, NOTHING is going to come between us and our fans,
and it will be death before dishonor, this is 'Iron fucking Maiden','
which was greeted by a thunderous applause. During 'Iron Maiden,' longtime
MAIDEN mascot Eddie was purposely delayed from making his entrance,
making a brief appearance at the end, and one could only wonder as to
how. As the band closed there set with a furious version of 'Sanctuary,'
the PA was again cut only to have Big Dave repeatedly chant 'Ozzy' over
the PA, while the band tried to say goodbye to their fans. The now-furious
crowd angrily drowned him out with chants of 'MAIDEN, MAIDEN.'
"Then, not 10 seconds after MAIDEN left the stage, Sharon Osbourne
walked on stage and predictably, tried to give MAIDEN some fake, half-hearted
praise about how they'd like to 'thank IRON MAIDEN,' and what a wonderful
band IRON MAIDEN are, and how their crew were 'fantastic,' then sneering,
'But Bruce Dickinson is a prick.' The entire crowd, now fed up with
the entire affair, began loudly booing her, pelting her with beer cups,
and yelling 'bitch.' She tried to carry on, adding that 'Bruce had disrespected
Ozzfest,' only to be drowned out by an ocean of boos, and soaked with
beer. She slammed the microphone down and stormed off stage. Many in
the crowd, fed up with what they had just witnessed, especially considering
that many had come solely for MAIDEN, and paid upwards of $150 to do
so, left in droves. SABBATH played to maybe half the audience that was
there prior, and seemed stagnate compared to the band preceding them.
As a huge fan of SABBATH, I honestly couldn't stand to watch them.
"I've seen IRON MAIDEN probably 10 times in my life, and frankly
this was the very best IRON MAIDEN show I've had the pleasure of witnessing.
You DON'T want to fuck with IRON MAIDEN. The more the Osbournes tried
to fuck with them, the better they got! IRON MAIDEN was on fucking overdrive!
Considering the amount of terrorizing and intimidation that IRON MAIDEN
had to deal with at the hands of the Osbournes and the other side stage
and main stage bands participating, they were the consummate professionals.
They had the crowd in the palms of their hands, and IRON MAIDEN and
Bruce Dickinson proved beyond a shadow of a doubt why they are the greatest
metal band on earth right now, and quite possibly, the classiest, too.
"The Osbournes are drunk with power. Shame on them, and shame on
ANY of the bands that participated in the terrorizing and intimidation.
It was disgusting display, that NO BAND should have had to endure, but
especially a legend like IRON MAIDEN. That fact that it happened in
front of 40,000+ people, at a Clear Channel-sponsored event, while Hyundai
Pavilion Security turned a blind eye and let the Osbourne camp pelt
one of the main headlining bands with eggs, beer, and spit, was simply
inexcusable.
"I will proudly be attending next year's MAIDEN fest, and as much
as I hate to say it, I can't bring myself to spend another dime on the
Osbournes.
"Ozzfest, hang your head in shame." Metal

- Ex - Celtic Frost Guitarist Talks About Solo Project: SUBSONIC
"While there's nothing new under the sun, it's obvious that the
world is experiencing a highly evolutionary period. Tyrannies and shams
promoting parish-pump politics remind us that our most endangered species
remains those who think for themselves. Even though I'm intrigued by
many musical styles, it felt 'right' to record a rock release and I'm
very comfortable in that skin. No Such Soul celebrates an idealism that
continues to validate rock music's existence on this planet.
I wanted the material to reflect the positive side of being an individual.
Even if there's someone on TV telling you you're screwed, the computer-generated
fighter planes and pie graphs don't necessarily make it so. Life can
be tough and that's why having fun was invented. This music looks at
the darker side of society and reaffirms how liberating and essential
satire is as a way of finding your own light." - RM
Ron joined the Celtic Frost lineup after the release of Into the Pandemonium
and became CF's lead guitarist, thus fulfilling a long-planned goal
of the band (Having two guitar players in order to create a fuller sound
for live performances and future recordings.) Ron's presence within
the band was heavily overshadowed due to the hardships CF was facing
at that time. Although he was only in the band for some months, Ron's
contributions turned out to be quite immense. He was a key element which
influenced and helped change the band's sound. He later returned to
Celtic Frost unofficially to help compose and record Vanity/Nemesis
in Berlin. This proved to be highly charged setting for a band like
Frost. The Berlin Wall quite literally came down during these sessions
and the band witnessed this first hand. Ron's tenure with Celtic Frost
at that point would be only the recording of the Vanity/Nemesis album.
And it's documented in the book by CF founder Tom Gabriel Fischer within
the pages of the Frost biography Are you Morbid? "What really lifts
him (Ron Marks) above any other contender is his extraordinary guitar
playing, executed with the feel of someone who has a God-given talent
for the instrument...His musical horizons extend and eclipse Martins
and my own technical capabilities."

- VOIVOD guitarist Denis "Piggy" D'Amour passed away
Friday night (August 26) at approximately 11:45 p.m. due to complications
from advanced colon cancer — so advanced that the disease had
spread to his liver. D'Amour slipped into a coma Thursday night and
died less than 24 hours later in the palliative care unit of a Montreal
hospital, surrounded by family and friends. He was 45 years old.
Quebec City newspaper Le Soleil reported yesterday that D'Amour —
who was diagnosed with colon cancer earlier in the summer — first
entered the hospital for a routine operation, but several complications
led his doctors to suspect more problems. Then the grim verdict was
revealed: the cancer, already too advanced, was inoperable.
Only two months ago, D'Amour was in the studio working on the 14th album
from the Canadian thrash-metal pioneers VOIVOD. More than two dozen
tracks are believed to have been demoed for the CD, for which the group
recently inked a deal with The End Records. However, the band were forced
to put studio work on hold while bassist Jason Newsted (ex-METALLICA)
was treated for tendonitis.
In a recent interview with Billboard.com, Newsted spoke about the material
slated to appear on the group's next CD. "It's the most complete
demos I've ever been involved in," he said. "[VOIVOD singer]
Snake has already chosen his effects — exact timing of milliseconds
for delay. We've had a long time to develop the demos, so there's about
23 or 25 songs that are absolutely listenable right now."
Newsted was a huge fan of VOIVOD before he was invited to join and he
remains a great admirer to this day. "They created something a
long, long time ago that may have been emulated many, many times since
— but nobody can do it like the original," he offered.
Prior to his hospitalization, D'Amour laid down guitar tracks for a
reunion CD from the legendary AUT'CHOSE, a '70s band from Montreal.
That album is expected to surface next summer.
Former VOIVOD bassist Jean-Yves Theriault (a.k.a. Blacky) has issued
the following statement regarding the passing of VOIVOD guitarist Denis
"Piggy" D'Amour:
"Life does not always turn out the way you expect. Mine and the
lives of many of my friends from Jonquiere were certainly influenced
by one specific person, Denis D'Amour. He was a mentor and a hero for
many of us. He was my best friend.
"I have dreaded the arrival of this day for a while now. My old
bandmate is gone. He passed away last night at peace with himself and
without pain. Until the very end he was both a sweetheart and a real
rocker, without compromise.
"I am so grateful that I had the chance to let him know how much
he meant to me and how much I loved him. Denis did not live to see his
last artistic effort released but the rest of us will appreciate it
all the more.
"Long live Denis D'Amour. Long live Piggy."

FEATURING STEVE VAI & ALBERT LEE
HOLLYWOOD (August 29, 2005) – “Songs For Sanity” is
a follow up to last year’s critically acclaimed “Vertigo.”

CD, which features a guest guitar solo from two of legendary guitarists
- Steve Vai and Albert Lee. “With these two particular guitar
players, they were both, from the first time I heard them, was a life
changing experience for me. It is a true honor to have on them on record,
” explains John 5.
John 5 came to the Shrapnel label after creating a worldwide following
as a widely respected guitarist with such platinum artists as Marilyn
Manson, David Lee Roth, and Rob Halford. These prior gigs were before
taking his notoriety to the next level with the release of “Vertigo”,
an album that many guitar fans described as “the guitar album

for a truly unique guitar oriented record that once again sets new standards
in the genre. With guitar sales near an all time high and last year’s

- AT ALL COST - COMBAT RECORDS Press release.
COMBAT Records Announces the Release of "It's Time To Decide,"
the New Full-Length Album From At All Cost In-Stores September 20, 2005
COMBAT Records announces the release of the first full-length album
by At All Cost titled "It's Time To Decide," on September
20th. The recently resurrected COMBAT Records is a joint venture between
KOCH Records and Entertainment Services Unlimited.
Austin, TX-based At All Cost (Trey Ramirez, Andrew Collins, Grant Anderson,
Bobby Andrews and Michael Theobald) previously released an EP on Fiddler
Records. Alternative Press gave the EP 4 out of 5 stars, and noted,
"... it's the little things that set AAC apart."
The band recorded "It's Time To Decide" with Rory Phillips
(Recover, The Rise, The Hire), and the album fuses the intensity of
metal, the energy of rock and roll, the ideology of a progressive intellectual
movement and the spirit of experimentation, to push the boundaries of
the saturated metal/hardcore genre. The band brings dance moves back
to hardcore -- literally. While other bands are triggered by the blast
beats and breakdowns, At All Cost bring classical guitars, violins,
vocoder and synth effects to one of the most danceable records this
genre will encounter. With vocals that ad an entirely new layer to what
otherwise will be dubbed as a 'raging mix of metal, hardcore and rock,'
At All Cost is the missing link between the 'brutal' and the 'beautiful.'
The track listing is:
1. Death To Distraction
2. The Formula
3. Human Now
4. Polish The Nightmare
5. Right Now
6. Fabricated
7. Consider That
8. The Irony
9. This Pen
10. The Hook
11. It Burns Black
12. The Return
13. What Is Left To Inspire?
Stay tuned for At All Cost tour dates and for some additional COMBAT
announcements and news on future releases.

Twisted Sister came into the rock-n-roll world in 1987 as a New York

States as part of the “elite line” are design features that
all guitarists will love.”

custom painted by Steve Carr, Kiss’ original guitar designer,
and seen in all of the groundbreaking MTV Twisted Sister videos. The
original guitar can also be heard on all of Twisted Sisters’ albums

- TURBONEGRO Unleashes the Party Animals from Within; Announces Fall
Tour of the U.S. Coasts
OSLO, NORWAY - Scandinavia's answer to& ummm& no one (no band
comes close), TURBONEGRO are unleashing their newest hard rock opus,
the highly-anticipated Party Animals on Abacus Recordings on August
23, 2005. And what better way to prove their power than with a Fall
Tour supporting the album starting in Baltimore, MD on October 7th and
ending on October 21st in Seattle, WA (see below for tour dates). International
Noise Consipiracy and Early Man will support.
Having rocked the punk scene in Oslo since the late eighties, TURBONEGRO
has developed into one of the world's biggest underground rock bands.
Releasing seminal, classic albums such as Ass Cobra and Apocalypse Dudes,
TURBONEGRO's cult-like status was cemented when they released their
album Scandinavian Leather last year. "Most rock n' roll bands
start as a riot but end up as a parody. We started up as a parody but
ended up as a revolution," said bassist Happy-Tom.
With the razor-sharp searing "Death from Above" and pounding
apocalyptic "Final Warning" (featuring backing vocals by former
QOTSA's Nick Olivera), Party Animals continues in TURBONEGRO's savage
fashion, but turns up the amps to 13. The frenetic -Wasted Again features
Black Flag/Circle Jerks original vocalist Keith Morris whose mere presence
instantly adds to the cool quotient.
Licensed from Burning Heart Records, Abacus Recordings' US version of
Party Animals will include the hilarious "Workout" DVD. Clearly
an unstoppable punk-rock juggernaut, TURBONEGRO aims to hit the States
in October to prove that their album title is no fluke.

- SPV JOINS FORCES WORLDWIDE WITH TIM RIPPER OWENS AND BEYOND FEAR
SPV is proud to announce the signing of BEYOND FEAR, the brand new hard-hitting
metal outfit founded by current Iced Earth and former Judas Priest vocalist
Tim "Ripper" Owens. The band is preparing to enter the studio
to record their debut album for a 2006 release.
"It feels great to sign with SPV," Owens commented. "I
have been with them for quite some time now with Iced Earth, so I know
what they can do. It is always nice to have a label that makes you feel
like family, and that's what SPV does for you!"
The band is off to a fast start, having recently announced their participation
in a series of American dates with Savatage leader Jon Oliva (Jon Oliva's
Pain) and Savatage axeman Chris Caffery. The tour kicks off on September
9, 2005 in Cleveland OH, with remaining dates pending.
Never one to sit still for long, Owens began forming BEYOND FEAR last
year during breaks in the Iced Earth touring schedule. The band also
features John Comprix on lead and rhythm guitar, Dennis Hayes (ex-Winters
Bane) on bass, Dwane Bihary on rhythm guitar, and drummer Eric Elkins.
"This band means a lot to me and I'm having the time of my life
doing it," continued Owens. "It's fun when you finally get
to do what you want. That being said, let's get this machine called
BEYOND FEAR out there for the world to hear and see."
SPV Managing Director, Manfred Schuetz, explains, "Tim is one of
the 5 best singer's in metal. He will deliver an album that will convince
everyone. SPV is excited about the worldwide commitment."
Watch for album and touring updates on BEYOND FEAR coming soon! Metal

- Newsted talks to Billboard about new VOIVOD album on The End Records
In a recent interview with Billboard.com, Jason Newsted talked about
the upcoming Voivod records via The End Records:
"It's the most complete demos I've ever been involved in,"
he says. "[Voivod singer] Snake has already chosen his effects
-- exact timing of milliseconds for delay. We've had a long time to
develop the demos, so there's about 23 or 25 songs that are absolutely
listenable right now."
Like Metallica, Newsted was a huge fan of Voivod before he was invited
to join and he remains a great admirer to this day. "They created
something a long, long time ago that may have been emulated many, many
times since -- but nobody can do it like the original," he offers.

masterminds, RUMPELSTILTSKIN GRINDER. The band's Relapse Records debut,
Buried in the Front Yard, will see an October 11th release date.
The Philadelphia, PA quintet administers waves of relentless energy
on Buried in the Front Yard. Spinning speed metal into gold, RsG's Dissection
vs. Kreator-esque metal and extreme genre-bending thrash is sure to
ignite the moshing hordes of the underground into a sweating - yet bewildered
- frenzy!
RUMPELSTILTSKIN GRINDER frontman, Eli Shaika issued this warning upon
the band's signing to Relapse, "Hold onto your wallets...cause
we're not fuckin' around!"
Shaika and the rest of the "orange and black attack" (Matt

Country of the Lakes, when they go to Finland for the first time in
late November.
The dates are as follows: Friday November 25th, Turku, Saturday November
26th, Jyv?skyl?, and Sunday November 27th, Helsinki.
The Norwegians will join up with Finland's own hotshots Battlelore (www.battlelore.net)

act on all three concerts.
Says singer Kjetil Nordhus, "I think we will all be up for a blast.
We have noticed a big interest in the band from Finland and we have
been planning this for a while now. All the members are happy it's been
confirmed now, so we can start looking forward to this.""And
for me, it's going to be great to meet my friends in Battlelore again.
I've lived in the same bus as them for three weeks on a previous tour
with Trail of Tears, and we all got along extremely well. So that's
going to be a big bonus for me personally!""Green Carnation

- FURY OF THE FALL: MESHUGGAH, GOD FORBID, THE HAUNTED and MNEMIC Tour
The US Together This Fall
Meshuggah announces that it will return to the US alongside God Forbid,
The Haunted and Mnemic as part of the Fury of the Fall tour this October.
"We're finally coming back to tour the US! We think it's a great
package and since it's been two and a half years since we last toured
the US we're definitely looking forward to it! When we wrote Catch 33,
we never really intended to tour in support of it but now we're actually
playing 13 minutes from the album in our set! We've already started
writing for the next album and this tour will be kind of a breather
in the midst of the writing process. With that said, this will be the
only U.S. tour we'll do for the Catch 33 album! It's incredible that
we got this great bill to travel with us for the tour; The Haunted,
Mnemic and God Forbid! We think this bill will attract a good crowd
and with the diversity in styles there's bound to be something for most
every fan of extreme music," says Meshuggah.
God Forbid join the ranks of the tour just as their new album hits the
streets on September 20th. Lead guitarist, Doc Coyle comments on the
tour: "I have to say that we couldn't have picked a better tour
to kick off the IV: Constitution of Treason touring cycle. Meshuggah
and The Haunted are bands that have been huge inspirations to God Forbid
for years, and to share the same stage is beyond an honor. With the
addition of Mnemic will really make this tour something to remember.
As the sole American act on this bill, we will do our best to fly the
flag for American Heavy Metal! We can't wait to hit the road, have some
beers with all these amazing bands and play some intense shows for all
the fans while showcasing the new album. It's going to be a blast! See
everyone on the road. Peace."
The Haunted, the legendary Swedish outfit, will be coming off the biggest
US tour of their career after playing Ozzfest. Peter Dolving, vocalist
for The Haunted, adds: "We just got word that we'll be back in
the USA a few weeks after the Ozzfest together with our sick ugly friends
of Meshuggah and God Forbid. I think we'll make an honest attempt at
awakening Satan and utterly corrupting the innocent minds of the unexpecting
American youth. This is going to be sweet. So get ready to buy your
tickets, put on your dancing shoes and we'll see you at the disco kids!
Kill, kill, kill. All hail. Etc. Or something..."
Denmark's Mnemic will open up the evening's festivities. "Mnemic
is beyond honored to be touring the US with Meshuggah, God Forbid and
The Haunted! These guys are true metal pioneers and we're psyched that
they've chosen us to hit to the road with them. Get ready for pure audio
injection from this heavy package that's gonna tear a hole into the
US soil," says the band. Metal

- BRAND NEW SIN To Tour With Black Label Society
First, they were black and blue. Now, they're back in Black. To cap
off a tremendous 2005 that has also seen the group tour alongside Motorhead,
Corrosion of Conformity, Zeke, Life of Agony and Scum of the Earth,
the Syracuse-based hard rock quintet BRAND NEW SIN have just secured
the direct support slot on the upcoming Black Label Society tour, which
kicks off in St. Petersburg, Fla. on Oct. 14. This five-week, major
market trek will coincide with the release of their new video for upcoming
single "Days Are Numbered," shot by acclaimed director Dale
Resteghini (Shadows Fall, Hatebreed).
BRAND NEW SIN - who recently headlined the Syracruise bike rally ("Central
New York's largest annual motorcycle event") in their hometown
- are no strangers to Black Label Society, who are currently playing
to thousands of fans each night on the main stage of Ozzfest. The group
played nine shows with Zakk Wylde's band of SDMF's three years ago in
support of their self-titled debut, including an infamous Detroit gig
at which Black Label Society filmed its first live DVD - a show at which
the crowd depleted the venue's entire beer supply.
"We're happy to be going back out with Black Label," says
BRAND NEW SIN front man Joe Altier. "The last time around, we were
out for only two weeks. Our bands fit perfectly together, and this is
a great chance for us to take it around the entire country."
BRAND NEW SIN is currently headlining the Revolver magazine-sponsored
Summer of Rock tour alongside Dog Faced Gods and Supagroup in support
of Recipe For Disaster, their critically acclaimed new album. The tour
will be followed by a short trek with Life of Agony, who are currently
headlining the Gigantour second stage. Meanwhile, their video for lead
Recipe single "Black And Blue," also shot by Resteghini, is
currently in heavy rotation on Metal Asylum and Headbangers Ball; it
has also been posted online at the location below.
Bludgeoning riffs and squealing leads are the stuff of which BRAND NEW
SIN is made.

- BURST COMPLETE WORK ON NEW ALBUM
Relapse Records recording artists BURST have completed work on their
forthcoming new album, entitled Origo.
The follow up to the band's celebrated 2003 release, Prey on Life, Origo
was recorded at Gothenburg's Music-a-matic studios with producer / engineer
Fredrik Reinedahl (BURST, IN FLAMES, CROWPATH) and Henrik Lipp (Kent,
Union Carbide Prod., Millencolin, DAD, etc). Origo sees Sweden's brightest
metal hopefuls plow headlong into their sophomore effort with flowing
grace and force of conviction. The album's lush layers of sound crush
and caress in equal measure as fragile, melodic vocals intertwine with
explosive screams, while waves of guitar weave complex, commanding music.
For fans of OPETH, MASTODON, ISIS, NEUROSIS, PELICAN and the like, BURST's
Origo is a must-hear. Origo will see release dates of October 17th in
the UK and October 24th in the rest of Europe. An early 2006 US release
date is expected.
Immediately following the album's release, the band will launch a UK
headlining tour that will kick off on October 24th in Manchester. The
band graduates to headlining status following successful UK support

- JOHN 5: NEW RELEASE
‘SONGS FOR SANITY’ ON SHRAPNEL RECORDS
FEATURING STEVE VAI & ALBERT LEE
HOLLYWOOD (August 21, 2005) – “Songs For Sanity” is
a follow up to last year’s critically acclaimed “Vertigo.”
On this phenomenal new record, 5 exhibits incredible diversity as a
writer and guitarist. The album also further showcases him to be one
of the most technically advanced guitarists in the business today. Fans
of driving rhythms and ear-catching, over the top, guitar work will
keep this in their CD player for months on end.
John 5 offers a fresh approach to guitar instrumental music on his new
CD, which features a guest guitar solo from two of legendary guitarists
- Steve Vai and Albert Lee. “With these two particular guitar
players, they were both, from the first time I heard them, was a life
changing experience for me. It is a true honor to have on them on record,
” explains John 5.
John 5 came to the Shrapnel label after creating a worldwide following
as a widely respected guitarist with such platinum artists as Marilyn
Manson, David Lee Roth, and Rob Halford. These prior gigs were before
taking his notoriety to the next level with the release of “Vertigo”,
an album that many guitar fans described as “the guitar album
of the new millennium”. John 5’s eclectic influences combine
for a truly unique guitar oriented record that once again sets new standards
in the genre. With guitar sales near an all time high and last year’s
“Vertigo” still among Shrapnel’s current best sellers.
‘Songs For Sanity’ is sure to be the next top seller~
- 1349 AMERICAN RELEASE DATE CONFIRMED
Philadelphia: Candlelight Records confirms October 4 as the American
release date for the new studio album from Norway's 1349. Titled Hellfire,
it is the third studio album from the rapidly growing black metal band.
Recorded at Studio Studio in Nyhagen, Norway, Hellfire is already expected
to be a highly regarded and fan sought recording early on in its initial
release. And with a European tour already booked with US labelmates
Gorgoroth (new album coming February 2006), could US fans finally witness
this rising, molten beast?
All Music Guide calls their music, “a nasty, harsh, brutally skullcrushing
blast of Scandinavian death metal/black metal.” Pit Magazine says,
“this is raw, hyper-blasting blasphemy with awesome riffs and

- GRIMFIST AMERICAN RELEASE DATE CONFIRMED
Philadelphia: Candlelight Records confirms October 4 as the American
release date for the new studio album from Norway's Grimfist. Titled
Ten Steps to Hell, it is the second studio album from the rapidly growing
extreme metal band.
Recorded at Subsonic Society Studios (Dismember, Susperia) and mixed
at Studio Fredman (In Flames, The Haunted), Ten Steps to Hell is riff
assault. Guitars and vocals both firmly presented in-your-face style
wrap around an intense rhythm that recalls what made the initial thrash
genre so energetic. And talk about drums! Let your ears bear witness
to the human machine (the album debutting new drummer Christian Svendsen).
Formed in 2001, Grimfist’s debut, Ghouls of Grandeur, was a death
metal bitch slap that instantly impressed metal legions around the world.
Digital Metal called the record “pure death metal fury,”
while Orlando Weekly says, “Grimfist ruthlessly pounds out a combination
of bloodcurdling death rage and rumblingly heavy thrash.” Featuring
guitarist Ole Walaunet, vocalist Frediablo and original drummer (ex-Immortal)
Horgh, the Peter Tagtgren-produced album remains one of Candlelight’s
best sounding recordsl. Returning with Ten Steps to Hell, this three-piece

metal to the bloody core.

- DARK FUNERAL AMERICAN RELEASE DATE CONFIRMED
Philadelphia: Candlelight Records confirms November 29 as the American
release date for the new studio album from Sweden's Dark Funeral. Titled
Attera Totus Sanctus, it is the fourth studio album from the widely
respected black metal band.
Recorded at Dug Out Studios and produced by the renowned Daniel Bergstrand,
Attera Totus Sanctus is surely Dark Funeral's most eagerly anticipated
recording in their now decade-long career. Raw, fierce, and evil it
will rightly reclaim the unholy band’s title at the top of black
metal’s premiere elite. Early reviews already have journalists
citing, “Dark Funeral give the word "uncompromise" a
whole new meaning.” The record explodes “with hate, anger,
apocalypse and speed.”
Sweden’s Dark Funeral are without doubt one of the most notorius
and highly regarded of the black metal genre. They epitomize the dark
essence that is and always will be at the true heart of the European
scene. Dating to 1993, the band quickly established themselves as a
band to watch. Their performances have become legend, witnessed by fans
around the globe. Blood, corpse paint and ancient weaponry as a dominating
backdrop to the band’s fast and intricate music, fans walk away
with a vivid spectacle that few of their peers can match.

666 Voices Inside, Attera Totus Sanctus, Atrum Regina, Godhate, Angel
Invasion (Destroyed, Erased), King Antichrist, Final Ritual

- KHOLD AMERICAN RELEASE DATE CONFIRMED
Philadelphia: Candlelight Records confirms October 18 as the American
release date for the new studio album from Norway's Khold. Titled Krek,
it is the fourth studio album from the widely respected black metal
band.
Sonicly robust, Krek surrounds the listener with its nocturnal sophistication
and sheer intensity. Deceivingly simplistic (a band characteristic),
each instrument is allowed to engulf one with every single note. Add
to the soundscape Gard’s (vocalist) commanding performance. Again
with lyrics (recorded as well) in Norwegian, the charm of the material
is surely their strongest material to date.
Formed in 2000, Khold is one of the most unique bands in the extreme
metal genre. Digital Metal notes, “a measured form of aggression;
a mid-paced mauling that hits slow, strikes fast, and leaves you bludgeoned.”
Aversionline adds, “this band has a more intriguing and effective
artistic vision... this embodies a true progression of black metal's
original essence.” Their 2004 release, Morke Graves Kammer, was
their first with proper US distribution. Well received with media accolades
from Metal Maniacs, Brave Words Bloody Knuckles, Unrestrained, Digital
Metal and more, it signalled a great start for this still cult but highly
regarded band.
Confirmed track listing for Krek is: Krek, Blod og Blek, Innestengt
I Eikekiste Oskorei, Byrde, Lysets Flukt, Grepet Om Kniven, Midvinterblot,
Varde, Silur Wie.

- The End Records, already known for its eclectic cutting-edge roster,
has signed the legendary VOIVOD for the USA. Hailed as one of the most
important groundbreakers in metal, Voivod's ever-evolving progressive
mindset is a perfect fit for The End.
The band will enter the studio in the fall of 2005. Release date for
the band's 11th studio album is not yet confirmed, but should appear
sometime in early 2006.
Drummer Michel Langevin (aka Away) confirms that the band has completed
the writing of the album, describing the material as "heavy"
and "experimental". Regarding the new partnership, Voivod
states: "We are very proud to join The End Records in their quest
to promote modern heavy music. A perfect home for a band like Voivod.”
Furthermore, In a recent interview with Billboard.com, Jason Newsted
talked about the upcoming Voivod records via The End Records:
"It's the most complete demos I've ever been involved in,"
he says. "[Voivod singer] Snake has already chosen his effects
-- exact timing of milliseconds for delay. We've had a long time to
develop the demos, so there's about 23 or 25 songs that arre absolutely
listenable right now."
Like Metallica, Newsted was a huge fan of Voivod before he was invited
to join and he remains a great admirer to this day. "They created
something a long, long time ago that may have been emulated many, many
times since -- but nobody can do it like the original," he offers.

- Update on DAN SWANO’s Second Sky project; Re-opens legendary
Unisound Studio
Multi-talented Swedish producer/musician Dan Swanö provides an
update on his upcoming Second Sky project (released via The End):
“The work on my most precious project Second Sky is coming along
just fine. The drums have been finished since quite some time, but I
decided to cut one track and add two new ones to the record to add a
bit more variety to the album, so Peter Damin had to step into the studio
one more time to nail these new songs, and as usual, he nailed the songs
in about 20 minutes each!”
“Most of the lyrics will have to be rewritten because of my divorce,
but life goes on and I have already finished some of the new lyrics.
The songs ready for the vocal work are “Hammer On My Heart,”
“Right The First Time,” “The Sacred Room,” “The
Way” and “Always Tomorrow.” All the rhythm guitars
that I should play have been recorded, the stuff left for session guys
is still to be nailed. I have also recorded all the grand piano and
keyboard stuff. The production of the album is top notch and I am very
proud of the basic sounds I have created this fa |
