  • DIECAST RELEASE DATE ANNOUNCED

The Boston-based metalcore quintet DIECAST have set an October 19th release date for their highly anticipated new album, Tearing Down Your Blue Skies. This is the group's first effort since their highly acclaimed debut full-length, Day of Reckoning, released over three years ago. This new offering shows the group's progression as musicians and songwriters, while the addition of new vocalist Paul Stoddard adds a whole new feel to the band's dynamic sound. DIECAST have broken the mold once again creating an album that will set the mark for all other bands in the genre to try and surpass.

Jeremy Wooden (bass) further describes the band's excitement, "First of all, I'd like to apologize to all the fans for the delayed album release. When Day of Reckoning was released in 2001 our response at college radio was overwhelming, as the album held the #1 spot on the CMJ Loud Rock charts for four weeks. With this in mind we did not want to release Tearing Down Your Blue Skies in the summer and miss out on capitalizing on that great opportunity once again. We have already had 30,000 downloads of the new sampler from our site and that's just a small sample of what's to come. We have been anxiously waiting to hit the road again and it looks like this time it will be worldwide, rather than just national. The plans are to film a video for the first single off the album shortly and look for us on the road in the coming months. We are ready to destroy."

  • KATAKLYSM DISPUTE

Kataklysm is in dispute at the moment with ex-Hypnotic honcho Tom Treumuth and LINUS ENT./WARNER MUSIC CANADA regarding the re-release of the 1998 album VICTIMS OF THIS FALLEN WORLD, previously released on Canada's Hypnotic label.

The problem is that the album was out of print because of the defunct Hypnotic label and Kataklysm has fullfilled its contractual commitment. As a result, Kataklysm have been working the past month at completely re-recording Victims of this Fallen World and have made a new agreement with long time friend of the band Stephan Mellul and Skyscraper Music/Fusion 3 for a Canadian re-release and through Crash music for the United States.

To everyone's surprise, we have been notified that former Hypnotic owner Tom Treumuth has licensed both the Victims of this Fallen World and Northern Hyperblast Live albums to Linus Entertainment/Warner Music Canada for a September release, without rights nor the band's consent!! This is a total rip off situation and we cannot believe WARNER MUSIC is letting this happen without even LINUS ENT. having documentation allowing them to release these albums. DO NOT BUY these albums, they do not have our permission and they are stealing your money and ours!!

Comments Maurizio on the Victims... re-release:

"J-F has been working for the last 3 weeks with Stephane and former drummer Max Duhamel on the re-recording of Victims of this Fallen World. The album has been completely revamped from A to Z , basically given a facelift with new guitar and bass sounds, and drums completely re-recorded by original drummer Max Duhamel... Only things left are vocals, scheduled for next week, new mix/mastering and new artwork will be finalised as well... We decided to do this because we feel that this album was a turning point for Kataklysm and the band has evolved so much since. We tought it would be fun to see how it would turn out by re-recording it with today's vision as musicians and with J-F's top notch producing skills behind it - and maybe give it some justice for what it was... And let me tell you that the results are astonishing! You'll be surprised how big it sounds already and I can't wait to lay some sick vocals on it next week. So please BOYCOTT that LINUS ENTERTAINMENT and WARNER MUSIC re-release, this is just about someone desperately trying to make a few extra bucks at our expense. Distro and labels - do not order it, just wait for October for this new edition re-release. It will be worth it and I'm glad I listened to J-F about doing this."- Maurizio

  • "THEE MALDOROR KOLLECTIVE" NEW ALBUM READY TO BE RELEASED

Italian ritualists THEE MALDOROR KOLLECTIVE are back with a new album titled "A Clockwork Highway", scheduled to be released in October 2004 on code666.

After the groundbreaking "New Era Viral Order" in 2001, they changed again to create another musical jewel, a dangerous noise soundtrack filled with scaring visions of future, unspeakable questions and disturbing grooves, featuring the collaboration with industrial-music guru BAD SECTOR.

Do not expect a "New Era Viral Order part 2.", as usual The Kollective morphed in a new Entity with a new line-up and a new music style, this time more close to the Apocalyptic post-core scene (Isis, Neurosis) the new songs are a slow, hypnotic, tribal trip in a noise soundtrack, like William Gibson in Mescal Overdose.

  • "THE SOUNDBYTE" OUT SOON ON AMARANTH RECORDINGS

The first release of the aural music imprints Amaranth Recordings (ruled by Ephel Duath's Davide Tiso) is "Rivers of Broken Glass" the title portrays what this album sounds like: massive, cold and penetrating; cutting shards of resigned angst with twinges of hope that feels like morphine, and continuously shimmering with fragments of sheer beauty. Always experimenting with different concrete sounds and introducing sheer, almost transparent vocals upon far murkier, monotone foundations, The Soundbyte has developed it's own voice. The result is an exciting and dark voyage through soundscapes consisting of drums, bass, innovative guitars, male and female vocals, mellow strings, brass, keyboards and programming.

The Soundbyte is a solo project of Trond Engum evolved through several years of composing and playing as a part of the cult band The 3rd and The Mortal.

  • TWISTED SISTER TO RELEASE 'STILL HUNGRY' CD -- A RERECORDED AND EXPANDED VERSION OF THE CLASSIC 'STAY HUNGRY' ALBUM -- ON OCTOBER 5, 2004, ON EAGLE ROCK ENTERTAINMENT

2004 is shaping up as one of the most exciting years ever for the hard rock band Twisted Sister. Eagle Rock Entertainment will release the 'Still Hungry' CD -- a rerecorded and expanded version of the classic 1984 album 'Stay Hungry' -- on October 5, 2004. 'Still Hungry' adds seven new tracks to the original 'Stay Hungry.'

The rerecorded 'Stay Hungry' tracks are "Stay Hungry," "We're Not Gonna Take It," "Burn in Hell," "Horror-Teria: A) Captain Howdy B) Street Justice," "I Wanna Rock," "The Price," "Don't Let Me Down," "The Beast" and "S.M.F." The biggest singles of Twisted Sister's career, "We're Not Gonna Take It" and "I Wanna Rock," were fist-pumping smashes and important, ground-breaking music videos in the early days of MTV.

The seven bonus tracks are "Never Say Never," "Blastin' Fast & Loud," "Come Back," "Plastic Money," "You Know I Cry," "Rock N Roll Saviors" and "Heroes Are Hard to Find." These songs appear at the end of 'Still Hungry.' Four of them -- "Come Back," "Plastic Money," "You Know I Cry" and "Rock N Roll Saviors" -- were newly recorded in 2004. The recording of "Never Say Never" and "Blastin' Fast & Loud" was completed in 2001 using the original drum tracks Pero laid down in 1984. "Heroes Are Hard to Find" was recorded in 1998.

With 'Still Hungry,' vocalist Dee Snider, lead guitarist Jay Jay French, lead guitarist Eddie Ojeda, bass guitarist Mark "The Animal" Mendoza and drummer A.J. Pero are adding an important new chapter to the Twisted Sister history book. The quintet's relentlessly rocking anthems and legendary live performances are essential components of hard rock's legacy.

'Still Hungry' -- which was produced by Mendoza, a longtime producer/engineer in addition to his bass guitar duties with Twisted Sister -- finally gives the New York-based band a chance to make 'Stay Hungry' the way it was first envisioned. 'Stay Hungry' has sold more than 6 million copies worldwide, but it doesn't sound the way Twisted Sister wanted it to sound.

" 'Still Hungry' is 'Stay Hungry - The Way It Ought to Be.' It has an ultra-heavy sound, which is the way we wanted 'Stay Hungry' in the first place. But at that time rock records had a thin, very midrange kind of sound and so 'Stay Hungry' was recorded very lightly. We battled Atlantic Records and producer Tom Werman about it, but we lost," French says.

"These rerecordings are faithful to the original arrangements but they sound much heavier. There are an additional seven tracks included -- obscure songs from our club days but never officially recorded then. On two of these songs, 'Never Say Never' and 'Blastin' Fast & Loud,' we used the original drum tracks that A.J. recorded. These songs were meant to be included on 'Stay Hungry' but were never finished. 'Heroes Are Hard to Find' was on the soundtrack of Dee's movie 'Strangeland.' "

Six of the seven bonus tracks previously appeared, mostly in raw form, on archival Twisted Sister albums. Demos of "Come Back" and "Rock N Roll Saviors" were included on the 1999 Spitfire Records collection 'Club Daze Volume I: The Studio Sessions.' The completed 2001 studio recordings of "Never Say Never" and "Blastin' Fast & Loud" (with Pero's original 1984 drum tracks) kick off 2001's Spitfire release 'Club Daze Volume II: Live in the Bars' which also features vintage live versions of "You Know I Cry," "Plastic Money" and "Come Back" (one of just a few songs to appear on both 'Club Daze' volumes).

"Even the cover art is now the way we wanted it. It shows us as five starving musicians in street clothes in a tenement sitting at a table to represent where we came from, and the ghostly looking image of us in our stage clothes behind that shot represents what we imagined we could achieve," says French.

'Still Hungry' finally gives Twisted Sister and its legions of fans worldwide the chance to experience uncompromised versions of these important songs. 'Still Hungry' makes a great thing even better.

  • CANDLELIGHT UNVEILS FALL RELEASE SCHEDULE
GOD AMONG INSECTS, RED HARVEST, KEY REISSUES

Philadelphia: Candlelight Records announces its fall release schedule, with noteable new albums from rising new acts plus continued work as part of the label's year-long reissue series. Amongst the planned titles, Candlelight will issue the new album from Norway's Red Harvest, the debut from Sweden's God Among Insects, plus reissues from Voivod, and Severe Torture, among others.

The anticipated debut from Sweden's God Among Insects is set for September 21 release and follows already much acclaim and controversy as part of its European album release. World Wide Death found initial objection from distributors and retailers in Germany who found the album's artwork too graphic. Comprised of Dark Funeral’s Emperor Magnus Caligula (vocals), The Project Hate’s Lord K Philipson (guitar), Vomitory’s Tobben Gustafsson (drummer), and newcomer Tomas Elofsson (guitar), the album was recorded at Abyss Studios with Tommy Tagtgren. Sweden’s Close-Up Magazine has already called the band “one of five of the most interesting bands.” Add early coverage via Metal Maniacs, Blabbermouth and Brave Words and the high curiosity surrounding the band and album release make it an album to mark and watch.

October 5 will see the release of Internal Punishment Programs, the sixth album from Norwegian Grammy and Alarm Award nominated Red Harvest. Recorded at Subsonic Society Studios in Oslo and mixed by Fredrik Nordstrom, it is expected to be a growing and action-intensive year for this talented and highly revered band. A video for album track “Anatomy of the Unknown” has already been filmed and is expected to hit national and regional outlets in mid-October. Digital Metal says, “when it's all said and done it's the sheer vitality and inventiveness Red Harvest exhibit that deserves more than a celebratory gesture. In fact, Red Harvest have no equal.” Also scheduled for release October 5 is the new album from England's Hecate Enthroned (Redimus) and the debut from Sweden's Damnation (Destructo Evangelia; featuring members of Entombed and Merciless).

The second album from Wynjara is set for release October 19. Featuring former members of Malevolent Creation, Monstrosity, Divine Empire and PainGod, Human Plague silences a 4-year hiatus for the band. Under license from Nocturnal Art Productions, the record showcases the band’s extreme style yet one that is flourished with highly technical abilities. Fans of Nile take notice. In early 2005, Candlelight will make available for the first time in the US the band's self titled debut.

Candlelight's reissue series continues with Sweden’s Liers in Wait. Set for October 5, the band boasts a who’s who of members in wake of their long and trialled history. Formed in 1990 after the demise of Grotesque, guitarist Kristian Wahlin (The Great Deceiver, Diabolique) and drummer Hans Nilsson (Dimension Zero, The Great Deceiver) united with friends to form the early band incarnation. The band released only this single recording, Spiritually Uncontrolled Art, before officially disbanding. The record features Christofer Johnsson (Therion) on vocals and has been remastered for the reissue series.

There is absolutely no denying the impressive impact Canada’s Voivod have had on the face of aggressive and extreme music. Their legacy finds a creativity unlike any other of their peers and followers, culminating near 20 years of sheer inventiveness and recording genius. Kronik, Negatron and Phobos represent the middle recording years of the band. Each have been unavailable in the US some time. Candlelight Records reintroduces them to US fans on November 2, prior to the band's expected 2005 new album.

Holland's Severe Torture have amassed a sizeable worldwide following since their formation in 1997. On November 16, Candlelight will conclude the label's 2004 release schedule with the reissue of the band's two album's, complete with updated and bonus material. Feasting on Blood and Misanthropic Carnage find US re-release as the band continues work on their third full-length album.

Additional titles in Candlelight's fall reissue series includes Soulreaper/Lifegrazer, Primordial/Dark Romanticism, Kataklysm/Victims ofthe Fallen World-Northern Hyperblast Live and all four of Emperor's initial recordings complete with digital/cd-rom enhancements. Watch for the label's early 2005 release schedule, to be announced shortly.

  • JOE SATRIANI SETS INTIMATE "EVENING WITH" FALL TOUR

(Venice, CA) - Touring in support of his latest Epic Records release, Is There Love In Space? guitar legend, JOE SATRIANI will begin a headlining tour on October 6th in Atlanta, GA and continue through January 1st in Anaheim, CA. The 'Evening With' format will showcase SATRIANI's music in an intimate 2-1⁄2 hour set featuring song selections spanning his entire recording career.

Satriani's 11th solo album, Is There Love In Space, was released on April 13, 2004 and features the performer's core trio of Matt Bissonette on bass and Jeff Campitelli behind the drums. The 11 diverse cuts on the album range from the pulsating, brash opener "GNAAHH," to the drop-tuned menace of "Hands in the Air" to the poignant ballad "Just Look Up." Yet all of the tracks are unified by Satriani's love of old-school hard rock.

Receiving rave reviews from the press for this new album, Satriani was also the subject of an in-depth look at his long career by his hometown paper, The San Francisco Chronicle.

"...Is There Love In Space?, catches Satriani in rip-snorting improvisational rides, laying searing, stinging leads over thick, grinding rhythm parts."
--Joel Selvin, SF Chronicle, April 13, 2004

"You'll be singing along to Satch's old-school hard rock even when there are no words."
--Josh Bell, Las Vegas Weekly, April 8, 2004

With a staggering 13 Grammy nominations, 11 solo albums to his credit and over 10 million copies of his albums sold worldwide, Joe Satriani has achieved huge success in his nearly 20 year career. In addition, this past year has seen a number of releases from the always-prolific guitarist. Is There Love In Space? debuted at #80 on the Billboard Top 200 chart with over 12,000 in sales the first week. The live album and DVD from last years successful G3 TOUR was released on February 24th with the DVD hitting #5 on the Billboard sales chart and has since been certified Gold. • UK ROCK LEGENDS MARILLION
RELEASE NEW CD, TOUR THE US

New York City: Twenty-one years after the release of their first album Script For A Jester’s Tear, MARILLION prepare release of their thirteenth studio album, Marbles. Set for US release on October 5, 2004, Marbles is packed full of atmospheric and stirring songs. Intense, deep-seated and musically rewarding, the CD had a pan-European release May 3 via their own label Intact Records, with international distribution and licensing handled by Absolute worldwide.

The album's single, ‘You’re Gone,’ charted at position #7 in the UK (the week’s second highest entry) and at position #8 in Holland, earning the band a slot on Top Of The Pops. The airplay on the single ‘You’re Gone’ has been phenomenal from all areas of the press throughout Europe.

MARILLION have a unique relationship with their fans. In 1997 the fans learnt via an email newsletter that, due to lack of record company support, the band could not afford to fund a US tour. One of the fans instigated a whip-round and raised $60,000 enabling the tour to take place. The release of the album Marillion.com in 1999 flagged their newly launched web-site (and record label) and this online source of information became an open conduit between band and fans.

At that point the band decided to adopt a completely new approach to the way their albums were funded and their twelfth album Anoraknophobia hit the headlines in 2001 when more than 12,000 fans pre-ordered and paid for, the record twelve months before it was released. A similar campaign has been launched to fund Marbles with 13,000 fans ordering the record in advance, but this time all the money raised is going into a campaign fund to promote the album.

MARILLION have sold more than fourteen million records worldwide. Their thirteen studio albums (four with Fish as lead singer '82-88; 9 with Steve Hogarth) have hit worldwide charts continuously: eight UK Top 10 albums, nineteen UK Top 40 singles. They have performed over 1100 shows to well over 2 million people and are currently working on a 43-date worldwide tour that commenced May 2004 and will find the band playing to audiences in England, Ireland, Germany, France, Holland, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Spain, Italy, Poland, Switzerland, Mexico, and ending with dates in the US and Canada.

Marbles will be released via Dead Ringer Records. Distribution throughout the United States is handled exclusively by Caroline Distribution; PHD Canada for the northern territories and various distributors throughout Mexico

  • DRY KILL LOGIC RETURNS WITH A VENGEANCE
    NEW ALBUM DUE OCTOBER 5

BAND TAKES EXPLOSIVE SHOW ON THE ROAD
    w/Nonpoint & Skindred

August 12, 2004 • New York City - Three years after the release of their punishing disc "The Darker Side of Nonsense," Dry Kill Logic (formerly known as Hinge) are back with a new album and a new approach. "The Dead and Dreaming," the band’s most cohesive and dynamic offering to date, is set to be unleashed October 5 on Psychodrama Records through Repossession. A follow-up to the highly acclaimed "Darker Side," which topped 100,000 in sales and which Amazon called “genuinely unhinged,” “wild-eyed” and “bolt-tight,” the new album combines the ferocity of thrash and death metal with the lyrical relevance of punk and smatterings of melodic classic rock. The band continues to feature incendiary frontman Cliff Rigano and drummer Phil Arcuri plus new guitarist Jason Bozzi (ex-Gargantua Soul) and bassist Danny Horboychuk (ex-Down for Low). Arcuri and Bozzi penned most of the visceral music for "The Dead and Dreaming" while Rigano wrote the poignant lyrics.

Dry Kill Logic play with the intensity of a salvo of cluster bombs in the studio, and they’re equally explosive onstage, as they’ve proven on stints with Fear Factory, Kittie and others. On September 22, they will return to the road with Nonpoint and Skindred to support the new album.

Among the album's new tracks, “Lost” is a whirlwind of pummeling rhythms and squalling guitar riffs while the first single “Paper Tiger” is an evocative number that contrasts verses of bruising metal with choruses awash in textural guitars and soaring vocals. An equally evocative video for this track, directed by Dale Restighini (Shadows Fall, Fear Factory) was just completed. “We really wanted to write an album that had songs people could connect with, and not stuff that sounds like everything else,” Rigano says. “The music that makes the most impact on people is what they can hear the sincerity and the heart in.” Dry Kill Logic started writing "The Dead and Dreaming" while on tour in 2002, and finished the writing process at their home studio. They entered Millbrook Sound to record with producers Eddie Wohl and Rob Caggiano, and finished the CD at the Scrap 60 Studios in New York City.

Dry Kill Logic also takes a new approach with this release, one which melds their previous label experience with the DIY ethos they have always embraced. On the heels of two self-released albums -- 1998’s Cause Moshing is Good Fun! and 1999’s Elemental Evil -- on their own label Psychodrama, and "The Darker Side of Nonsense," released on Roadrunner in 2001, the band has chosen to return to their own label, enabling it to once again call its own shots and do it their way. They entered into a unique partnership with Repossession Records, the new enterprise founded by former MCA label executive Gary Ashley, who is responsible for the success of acts such as Garbage & Blink 182 as well as the highly acclaimed merger of punk label, Drive-Thru Records with MCA. In conjunction with DKL's label Psychodrama, Repossession will release the disc and allow the band greater control over the business, financial and creative aspects of their career. Benefits so far include the ability to get their music in video games, TV and soundtracks without getting caught up in traditional red tape - Dry Kill Logic's riffs have been heard in games by Eidos, Midway and Activision, as well as in the 'Viva La Bam' and releases from Frontier Films, Fleshwound Films, H-Bomb Films and many others.

"It’s important to just take control of your life and not allow anyone to force you into compromising your integrity," Rigano concludes. "For me, this record is really about overcoming adversity and taking back control. I can’t say the last two-and-a-half years in this band have been easy. But we’ve learned a lot from what we’ve been through, and we’re still around and I think there’s a great story in that.”

  • DIO Releases Majestic Epic Master Of The Moon
Through Sanctuary Records on August 31

DIO. The name is legend; the voice an archetype in the annals of hard rock; the music unmistakably enchanting and riveting. Lauded by both Jack Black’s Tenacious D outfit and pro wrestler Chris Jericho of the WWE (via Fozzy, his musical alter ego), Ronnie James Dio is more than a memorable entertainer; he is a force of nature. Continuing his grand tradition of composing imaginative and thought-provoking rock music, DIO is proud to release its latest opus, Master Of The Moon through Sanctuary Records on August 31st.

Beyond the trademark lyrical content (consisting of imagery depicting dark fantasy fused with psychological anxiety), DIO’s music is as potent as ever, each track crafted with the precision and force of a fervent shark attack. Master Of The Moon is a rapturous one-two punch of volatile rock music, with each composition destined to become classic, alongside such DIO notables as “Holy Diver”, “The Last In Line”, “Rock ‘N’ Roll Children”, “Sunset Superman”, and “Rainbow In The Dark”. Assisting Ronnie on this journey of passion and tragedy are guitarist Craig Goldy, drummer Simon Wright, keyboardist Scott Warren, and bassist Rudy Sarzo (a legend in his own right, having previously worked with the likes of Ozzy Osbourne, Whitesnake, and Quiet Riot). Sarzo replaces Jeff Pilson, who departed the band following the recording of Master Of The Moon.

Historically, Ronnie James Dio’s voice is unparalleled, having honed his craft on brilliant tenures creating classics (like “Mob Rules”, “Heaven And Hell”, and “Man On The Silver Mountain”) with Black Sabbath and Ritchie Blackmore’s outfit Rainbow. DIO’s legendary status was recently confirmed by VH-1 Television, securing the #1 Most Metal Moment for originating the now infamous “devil horns” hand gesture.

Master Of The Moon, with a ten-song tracklisting consisting of “One More For The Road”, “Master Of The Moon”, “End of the World”, “Shivers”, “The Man Who Would Be King”, “The Eyes”, “Living The Life”, “I Am”, “Death By Love”, and “In Dreams” transcends DIO’s previous efforts, adding a more contemporary and, at times, brutal edge to the classic DIO mythos.

As with each manifestation of DIO, rock music fans can expect a captivating world tour to commence this autumn, complete with DIO’s incomparable showmanship.

A new night falls upon the music scene with the emergence of the Master Of The Moon.

Meshuggah are back like you've never heard them before. The band's new CD, I, is composed of a single 21 minute song that will take you on a journey through both the familiar and the enthrallingly foreign. The song, which tells the story of one man's struggle to determine whether he's the bringer of the apocalypse or a raving lunatic, is filled with stellar riffing, mindblowing rhythm changes and heart-stopping vocals. The disc is being released by Fractured Transmitter records, the new label founded by Mushroomhead frontman J. Mann (Popson), and will be in chains September 14.

The Swedes will be making themselves available to talk about the most extreme and ambitious project of their career. Metal Maniacs

  • Moonfog update!

A twelve-camera production crew filmed SATYRICON’s performance at last weekend’s Wacken Open Air festival for an upcoming music video for the track "Repined Bastard Nation."

The Norwegian black metallers co-headlined the festival with Nocturno Culto, guitarist and vocalist from influential black metal band, DARKTHRONE who joined Satyricon on stage to perform some of DARKTHRONE’s most celebrated classics. Nocturno Culto also played guitar on final track, "Mother North," from SATYRICON’s highly acclaimed album Nemesis Divina where he features under the name of Kveldulv. The joint legendary performance, held in front of over 40,000 people, broke ‘a new crowd record’ and was the last of its kind according to both camps. The event was later described as a historical moment and a turning point for black metal by insiders.

"Repined Bastard Nation" originates from SATYRICON's latest album, Volcano, released in Europe through Capitol Records in September 2002 and most recently in the U.S. through the Sony Music imprint EatUrMusic, the label run by SYSTEM OF A DOWN guitarist, Daron Malakian.

DARKTHRONE’s latest opus, Sardonic Wrath is available through Moonfog from 6th September.

  • WAR & PEACE HIT THE ROAD IN SUPPORT OF LATEST RELEASE “THE WALLS HAVE EYES”

HOLLYWOOD (August 15, 2004) – Jeff Pilson's WAR & PEACE will hit the road to support their latest release "The Walls Have Eyes” on Z Records in Europe

Pilson has performed as a session bassist and singer on many records over the last decade, and is now focusing on his production work of his longtime project, WAR & PEACE with new CD, "The Walls Have Eyes." With this release, Pilson continues the tradition of heavy melodic rock ala Dokken and Lynch/Pilson, but in this he plays all the instruments and does all the songwriting himself with the exception of the song, "Desperate Hearts", co-written with fellow Rock Star alumni, Jason Bonham. Also featured is a brilliant guitar solo by Italian virtuoso Alex Masi on "Stranger In My Own Land", a track that was also featured on a 2002 charity record for the victims of the September 11, 2001 tragedy.

The following dates have been fully confirmed with hopefully more to follow:

August 27 Paladino's Tarzana, CA USA
August 28 Brick By Brick San Diego, CA USA
September 9 Concord, CA (Venue TBA)
September 10 The Pound SF San Francisco, CA

  • Boston’s MELIAH RAGE Reunites and Releases First Studio Album in Over
10 Years on August 24th through Screaming Ferret / Escapi Music

Initial Pressing of Barely Human to Include Bonus Disc Unfinished Business
    Featuring Godsmack’s Sully Erna

Boston’s reformed metal heroes MELIAH RAGE are primed to make 2004 truly a landmark year for the band. Recently having their music featured on an episode of FOX TV’s hit series The Shield, MELIAH RAGE is following the success with a brand new studio album, their first in over a decade. The nine-track sledgehammer of sonic vengeance Barely Human is slated for release on Screaming Ferret Wreckords in coordination with Escapi Music and Navarre Distribution on August 24th. A major North American tour will soon follow.

Guitarist Anthony Nichols, guitarist Jim Koury and bass guitarist Jesse Johnson, all original members, are joined by new vocalist Paul Souza and drummer Barry Spillberg (formerly of Wargasm) on Barely Human. Original vocalist Mike Munro decided not to take part in the Meliah Rage reunion in order to focus on family. The tracklisting for this monumental release includes:

    Hate Machine
    Rigid
    Invincible
    Bloodbath
    Barely Human
    Hell Song
    Ungodly
    Motor Psycho
    Wrong Place, Right Time

Barely Human was produced by Joe Moody and Nichols. Moody also recorded and mixed the album at Danger Multitrack in Providence, RI. All songs were written by Nichols and Souza except "The Wrong Place" which was written by Nichols, Souza and Clark Lush and "Ungodly" which was written by Nichols, Souza and Spillberg. Nichols completed all musical arrangements and Souza wrote all lyrics for the album. Bob Mayo, formerly of Wargasm and a one-time Meliah Rage member, contributes special bass tracks on "Invincible."

As an added bonus, the initial pressing of Barely Human will include a bonus disc, the previously unreleased album Unfinished Business, which features performances by Godsmack's Sully Erna on drums. Originally recorded in 1992, the tracks on Unfinished Business were intended as demos in order to secure a new record deal, upon the band’s departure from Epic Records.

Formed by Nichols formed in Boston in 1985, Meliah Rage was named for the Meliah Indians' practice of taking opium to prepare for battle. The original lineup included Nichols, Koury, Munro, Johnson and drummer Stu Dowie. They stood out as the only metal band around, since Boston is renowned as a college town which supported big alternative and hardcore music scenes. Nichols played briefly with the hardcore icons Gang Green and that connection led to management and label interest for Meliah Rage. The band signed with Epic in 1988 and released the debut Kill to Survive. Intense touring followed and a live EP, Live Kill, was issued in 1989. The second studio album, Solitary Solitude, was released on Epic in 1990. The changing musical tide in the early 1990s resulted in Meliah Rage leaving Epic in 1992. The band soldiered on with a new rhythm section consisting of Sully Erna and bassist Keith Vogele. Erna stayed with the band for 18 months. Several side projects were pursued but didn't produce, so Meliah Rage reunited in 1995 with Nichols, Koury and Munro along with Mayo and drummer Dave Barcos. The album Death Valley Dream appeared in 1996.

Now, Meliah Rage is back again! Despite weathering personnel changes and changes in the musical tide, the band has endured. Meliah Rage is here to stay.

Meliah Rage joins a proud group of classic metal bands, like Anvil, Candlemass, Dismember, and Trouble, who have experienced rejuvenation and renewed interest through the work and partnership with Screaming Ferret Wreckords, LLC, & Escapi Music, organizations designed to further expose new talent and to introduce groundbreaking classics to a new audience.

Upcoming releases from the united labels include Canadian Metal legends Anvil’s latest slamfest Back To Basics, Texas-based Tearabyte’s new doomfest Gloom Factory, a reissue of Nuclear Assault drummer Glenn Evans’ rare CIA release Attitude, Swedish death metal pioneers Dismember’s debut live DVD Live Blasphemies, doom-rock legends Trouble’s new DVD Live In Stockholm, and many, many more.

  • Screaming Ferret Wreckords In Conjunction with Escapi Music Unveil New ANVIL Studio Effort August 24th

Legendary Hard Rock act to have Ten Vintage Classics reissued This Fall

Over the past few years, Screaming Ferret Wreckords, LLC has aligned itself with budding new artists, as well as a selection of traditional metal bands in an effort to reintroduce lost classics to the audience of the New Millennium. Having recently joined forces with upstart Swedish entertainment organization Escapi Music and Navarre Distribution, the label is now proud to present a campaign to introduce Toronto, Ontario legends ANVIL to the new generation of metal fans. The campaign includes the domestic reissue of several catalogue titles (some of which are either out of print or never before available in the US), as well as the brand new studio album Back To Basics.

For over 2 decades, ANVIL has been a band that firmly understood that Metal should not be taken completely seriously. The band’s brand of anthemic metal fuses intense, piercing metal with witty social sarcasm to create a unique brand of music rarely seen and never equaled. Back To Basics, released on August 24th, and produced by renowned Canadian metal mastermind Pierre Rémillard (who had produced 2 previous Anvil albums, as well as 4 from Cryptopsy, and titles from Gorguts, Quo Vadis, and Kataklysm) is described by frontman/guitarist Steven “Lips” Kudlow as “a great pounding feel, like Accept meets Ozzy's Bark At the Moon.”

    The tracklisting includes:

    Fuel For the Fire
Can't Catch Me (When My Pants Are Down)
    Keep It Up
    Go Away
    Song of Pain
    Bottom Feeder
You Get What You Pay For
    Cruel World
    The Chainsaw
    Fast Driver

The initial run of Back To Basics will also feature a bonus live DVD Live At Wacken 1998, featuring such frenzied standards as “Five Knuckle Shuffle”, “Smoking Green”, “Old School”, “Winged Assassins”, “Forged In Fire”, “March of the Crabs”, “Metal On Metal”, “666”, and “Mothra”.

Screaming Ferret & Escapi will soon be releasing a number of classic ANVIL albums; discs that defined and secured the band’s status in the true heavy metal elite. Titles include three currently out-of-print releases: 1987’s Strength Of Steel (which featured such classics as “Concrete Jungle”, “Straight Between The Eyes”, and “Mad Dog”, the song that yielded a quite humorous video that received recurrent airplay on MTV’s original Headbangers Ball program), 1988’s Pound For Pound (featuring “Blood On The Ice” and “Toe Jam”), 1989’s Past & Present Live (a brilliant live set capturing such seminal ANVIL anthems as “Forged In Fire”, “Metal on Metal”, “March of the Crabs”, and “Mothra”). SFW is also releasing a number of titles that never received a proper United States release, including 1991’s Worth The Weight, 1996’s Plugged In Permanent, 1997’s Absolutely No Alternative, 1998’s Speed Of Sound, 2001’s Plenty Of Power, 2002’s Still Going Strong, and the special 1999 Anthology of Anvil, the perfect introductory piece to the manic, semi-insane world of ANVIL. All titles will be re-mastered and will contain bonus tracks.

Lips is shocked and thrilled with this development in the band’s career:

“I can't believe after a quarter of a century we will finally be released to the unsuspecting American audience. I've never understood after all these years why Anvil has done so little in the United States in the way of getting our recordings released, as well as touring. It is a true tragedy if not a crime! For those people who have never heard of us, it might be a surprise to find out we've been recording music before the existence of what was once called Heavy Metal, and to be more exact NWOBHM (New Wave of British Heavy Metal). Our first album came out in 81, however all the tracks on it were written over a long period of time, some dating back as far as 73 or 74! This new opportunity to release new and back catalog would not have come true if it weren't for the bravery and dedication to true metal by Screaming Ferret and Escapi Music. We have been pleasing European audiences for years and hope with all our might that we can do the same in America.”

Anvil joins a proud group of classic metal bands, like Meliah Rage, Candlemass, Dismember, and Trouble, who have experienced rejuvenation and renewed interest through the work and partnership with Screaming Ferret Wreckords, LLC, & Escapi Music, organizations designed to further expose new talent and to introduce groundbreaking classics to a new audience.

Upcoming releases from the united labels include Meliah Rage’s first studio album in over a decade (Barely Human – which includes a special bonus disc featuring Godsmack’s Sully Erna), Texas-based Tearabyte’s new doomfest Gloom Factory, a reissue of Nuclear Assault drummer Glenn Evans’ rare CIA release Attitude, Swedish death metal pioneers Dismember’s debut live DVD Live Blasphemies, doom-rock legends Trouble’s new DVD Live In Stockholm, and many, many more.

  • ...LIFE AFTER ROB ZOMBIE...
    AS SCUM OF THE EARTH
GUITARIST, RIGGS TO RELEASE NEW ALBUM OCTOBER 26
FEATURES MIKE & JOHN TEMPESTA (Powerman5000 & Zombie) AMONG OTHERS
    CD FEATURES U-MIX IT TECHNOLOGY
    ALLOWS INTERACTIVE SONG REMIX

August 18, 2004 • New York City - While playing guitar with Rob Zombie for six years, notorious rocker Riggs made a name for himself that he is now claiming as his own. As Scum of the Earth, featuring Riggs and friends, including Powerman 5000 guitarist Mike Tempesta, Mike's brother and Zombie drummer John Tempesta, SOAD drummer John Dolmayan, and old friends, bassist Clay Campbell and drummer Seven, they will release "Blah… Blah… Blah…Love Songs for the New Millennium," October 26 on Eclipse Records. The album was written by Riggs with collaborative help from his friends and recorded at Belt of Orion Studios in Los Angeles. Riggs produced the record, which was mixed by Frank Gryner (Rob Zombie, A Perfect Circle) & Brandon Belski (Velvet Revolver, Staind, Static-X).

The sounds of Scum are immediately familiar, yet not derivative. Riggs, the architect of Zombie’s high-tech guitar grind has reformatted his signature tone for a new era, and achieved a vibrant vibe that is simultaneously angry, sleazy and blunt as a battering ram smashing through a trailer park home. His scathing vocal technique is as spine chilling as it is powerful. “I didn’t really have a band or anything in the beginning,” Riggs says. “I just had all these songs, and I picked the best ones and then asked some people to help me out. It’s amazing how well everything came together. Mike Tempesta even ended up contributing 2 tracks of his own.”

“Get Your Dead On” and “Altargirl 13” the two songs written by Tempesta with Riggs, offer a turbo blast of writhing wah-wah guitars, and skittering beats compliments of his brother and Rob Zombie drummer John Tempesta. This is the first time the two have performed on a record together.

"Get Your Dead On," the first single, will also feature UmixIt™ interactive technology, which will allow the listener to isolate, violate and remix on their computer, up to 16 audio tracks of the song by emphasizing, cutting back or removing any instrument or vocal. "Blah…" is the first disc ever to be released featuring this new technology. "We are always looking for ways to offer music lovers something that lets them be engaged interactively with their music," says Eclipse label President Chris Poland. "We believe that empowering the consumer and inviting interaction is the way of the future for record labels." UmixIt™, based in New York and formed in 2003, is a joint venture between Enterprise Golden Hawk and Webster Hall Records.

Of course, not all of Blah… Blah… Blah… is raw, fist-in-your-face metal. “Little Spider” is an ominous acoustic-based song with orchestral percussion by SOAD drummer John Dolmayan. “Pornstar Champion,” a track originally recorded as a musical score for the "Any Given Sunday” soundtrack, is a groove-heavy mix of rhythms, hard rock riffs and samples from Queen’s “We Will Rock You.” Written by Riggs and producer Michael Beinhorn (Korn, Chili Peppers), it was produced by Beinhorn & Irv Gotti.

Scum of the Earth have crafted a rhythmic engine that’s immediate and propulsive. The moniker? Riggs always thought it was a cool name. He used it to name his publishing company years ago. He tattooed it across his stomach. They used it to name a Rob Zombie song. He likes Scum. "Its really cool when you have the opportunity to see things come full circle," concludes the infamous guitarist.
