  • Czech Grinders DUOBETIC HOMUNKULUS Make Debut EP Available To Download For Free

DUOBETIC HOMUNKULUS have made their debut release "C╝ásti a Mechanismy StrojuŠ" (in English, "Work Parts and Mechanisms") available to download. Born from the ashes of Earache/Elitist artist !T.O.O.H.! (The Obliteration Of Humanity), DUOBETIC HOMUNKULUS rise from the darkest corners of the Central European industrial wasteland in the form of two blue collar workers to uncover the crazy secrets from their cold realm of steel bearings, vaseline and the comical stories of their credulous ant-farm co-workers.

Eschewing the conventional three-chord approach to composition, the dynamic duo craft a novel musical approach of twisted melodies, staccato riffage, eclectic basslines, discordant piano runs and broken rhythms all nicely topped with snarly vocals in the ever accessible Czech language.

Released in 2006, the track listing for "C╝ásti a Mechanismy StrojuŠ" is as follows (English title translations are included in brackets):

    1. Kolostrojní Úleva (Steel Orgasm)
    2. Sve╝rná Spojení (Clamp Joints)
    3. Ny´tování (Hand Riveting)
    4. Machine in Human Flesh
    5. Dr. Norden
    6. Jarmilky Horizontálního Obráz╝ec╝e Bédi [bonus track] (Old Bumpers of Horizontal Shaping Machine- worker Bedy)

The entire EP including a new bonus track has been made available to download for free at the following locations (choose your pathway):

"There’s a huge place in my heart for some southern rock, especially when you throw a SUPER heavy twist on it. If their riffs get any bigger, I won’t be able to control my bowel movements. • KATAKLYSM Frontman Checks In From Europe!

Vocalist Maurizio Iacono of the Canadian death metallers KATAKLYSM has issued the following update:

"One week into this tour of European markets we haven’t hit for the last album and it seems like they've been waiting for us forever — phenomenal crowds, packed every night and having a packed house singing along… or screaming 'In Shadows and Dust' together sure makes it feel gigantic.

"We can't wait to hit Scandinavia soon and the UK as well as the other countries that are waiting for us.

"ABORTED are a powerhouse the band fucking rips live and BEHEMOTH are a fucking war machine. What a great package and great time. Everyone is having fun and getting along. Life is good — let's keep it up!"

KATAKLYSM will hit the road in North America in November/December as direct support to CHIMAIRA. Some headlining dates during the "off" days will also be announced.

Unfortunately, bassist Stephane Barbe will not be able to make the trek on the CHIMAIRA tour due to an important family obligation (Stephane and his girlfriend are expecting their first child). He will rejoin the band on the three last dates of the tour for the Montreal, Toronto and Millvale shows. KATAKLYSM will be utilizing the services of Francois Mongrain, bass player of tech death metallers MARTYR, for the tour until Stephane can rejoin the group.

KATAKLYSM has recruited producer Jason Suecof (CHIMAIRA, TRIVIUM, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER) to mix the album in early January. Entitled "Prevail", the CD will feature several guest appearances to be announced at a later date.

The album is scheduled for May 23, 2008 release via Nuclear Blast Records.

KATAKLYSM recently decided to "immortalize" the character that was featured on the cover of their most recent album, "In the Arms of Devastation", and have him re-appear as the main character — dubbed "The Heartbeast" — on their next offering, "Prevail".

Commented vocalist Maurizio Iacono: "We had so [much] killer feedback on the artwork but especially on the character that we decided to keep him as the band's fifth band member... kinda like IRON MAIDEN did with 'Eddie.' We have the perfect concept for the next album art... it will be bad-ass!"

  • Metal Blade Records announces the signing of Soilent Green!!!

We are very pleased to announce that Metal Blade Records has just added the infamous Southern sludge grind-metallers Soilent Green to its roster. Touted as “one of the ten most important hard and heavy bands" by Rolling Stone Magazine, Soilent Green has been releasing consistently brutal and groove-laden albums since their first full length Pussysoul in 1994. Soilent Green are true road warriors and have played a countless number of shows and toured with bands like Pantera, Clutch, Morbid Angel, Eyehategod, Brutal Truth, Anal Cunt, Napalm Death, The Black Dahlia Murder, GWAR, and Isis just to name a few. The band will begin recording their 5th full length album, and Metal Blade debut, on October 15th at Mana Studios in Tampa Florida with Producer/Engineer Erik Rutan (Cannibal Corpse, Hate Eternal, Goatwhore, Vital Remains). Expect the new album to be out in 2008 with heavy touring to follow.

"It is very exciting to have a band of Soilent Green's caliber signed to Metal Blade Records. We look forward to working closely with the band to enhance their trademark sound while forging a new chapter in the bands career." Mike Faley, President of Metal Blade Records.

“To put it bluntly, I am proud and excited about our new relationship with Metal Blade. We are for sure a band that has had our ups and downs and are looking forward to a new chapter with this release. We have put a lot of work into the new material and hope that you will enjoy.” Brian Patton (Guitars)

“Check it out! It's very exciting to get the chance to join the ranks of many artists I've admired for so long. I also greatly admire Soilent Green's persistence and determination on bringing the world more sick and interesting sounds, but most of all I personally feel at home by playing my part to make it happen.” Scott Crochet (Bass)

“I grew up listening to many of the bands that made their start with Metal Blade Records. I am honored to be on such a legendary label and with the combined efforts of Soilent Green and Metal Blade Records the possibilities of this next Soilent Green release are endless.” Tommy Buckley (Drums)

Oakland CA’s extreme metal masters, ALL SHALL PERISH, will be embarking on a headlining US tour alongside FROM A SECOND STORY WINDOW, EMMURE and NODES OF RANVIER this fall. This traveling freak show of brutality has been dubbed the KILLING SPREE 2007 tour and is coming to a town near you soon! An enthusiastic guitarist by the name of Ben Orum was more than happy to offer a few words on the bands next step towards world domination: "We couldn't be more excited to hit all of our favorite US cities one last time before we get back into the studio to finish writing our next record. All the bands on this bill are heavy as fuck and write great music, so we are very eager to get out there and destroy these clubs. We have become good friends with our boys in FROM A SECOND STORY WINDOW while being out on the road with them in Europe this past month. It will be good to spend another 30 days of little-to-no showering with them!"

SOILWORK is happy to announce their part in the KILLSWITCH ENGAGE and LAMB OF GOD co-headlining tour with support from DEVILDRIVER. This will be the band’s first US tour in support of their new album "Sworn to a Great Divide. "When asked about being apart of such a huge US arena tour for the first time singer Björn Strid had this to say: "We are thrilled to be on this tour which we think is the best tour package to hit the states for a very long time. We've toured with the boys in KILLSWITCH ENGAGE a couple of times before and we both sure do know how to share a bottle(s) of Jack. We always had a blast! We haven't toured with LAMB OF GOD or DEVILDRIVER before but we've occasionally run into each other and all we can say is that we definitely dig their music and are really looking forward to get to know those guys better. Prepare to soil your pants people!" The band’s latest video for the track "Exile" can be viewed at this location.

  • THE ACACIA STRAIN announces headlining tour

Western Massachusetts purveyors of all things heavy, THE ACACIA STRAIN, have confirmed most dates for an upcoming fall headlining tour dubbed Crashing Through the Holidays to continue supporting the band's latest release, 'The Dead Walk.' Joining the band on the road will be Despised Icon, Full Blown Chaos and the Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza, with additional support from Recon, Implosive Disgorgance and Ligeia on select dates. Currently wrapping up dates alongside labelmates All That Remains as well as Protest The Hero and Too Pure To Die, THE ACACIA STRAIN will take a month off the road before heading back out in late November.

"We're wicked excited for this tour," frontman Vincent Bennet says. "I've wanted to tour with all of these bands forever, and we finally are. We are going to be playing some songs that we haven't played in forever or haven't been able to play due to the lack of a second guitar (hint) and will be showcasing a new song or two. Expect a ton of "thumbs up" and some serious hangouts. Save your pennies too, because we are going to have a bunch of one time only merch designs! I can think of no better way to ring in the holiday season than with all the bands on this tour. Sorry to our friends in the Great White North though, we are seriously trying to stay away from those dangerous snow-covered roadways. I promise we will make it up to you when the warmer weather hits. See everyone in November and December!"

  • DEVIAN Second part of “album making of” video and new bass player!

The new Swedish metal threat DEVIAN, featuring former Marduk members Legion (vocals) and Emil Dragutinovic (drums), have made the second part of their studio “making-of” videos for “Ninewinged Serpent” available.

Vocalist Legion comments: "We are pleased to bring you the second part of the documentary from the “Ninewinged Serpent” recordings and how it proceeded into the slab of vicious metal that it did. Enjoy taking a look!”

See the video following this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fUmkdmRNSb4

Furthermore Roberth Karlsson (ex Edge Of Sanity, ex Pan.Thy.Monium, ex Darkified) has recently joined the band as the new bass player.

Legion further comments: "We are pleased to announce that in our ranks we now have one of my oldest brothers in arms, namely Roberth Karlsson (on bass) who some of you might recognize for his previous work in Edge of Sanity. I’m thrilled to work with Roberth again since it was with him I had my first Black Metal band, 16-17 years ago, and to now hook up again after all this time for new metal onslaughts in Devian feels fucking awesome. Our lead guitarist Markus has chosen to step off the ship due to personal reasons, the leadguitar duties are now handled by Tomas Nilsson who played bass on “Ninewinged Serpent”. We wish Markus the best of luck for the future, and welcome aboard Roberth!!!"

DEVIAN’s stunning debut album was recorded at Art Decay Studio with producer Rickard Kottelin (The Legion) and mixed by sound-wizard Fredrik Nordström / Studio Fredman (At The Gates, Arch Enemy, Dimmu Borgir, etc) while the mastering process was handled by Peter in De Betou / Tailor Maid. The artwork comes from Greek master of dark art Seth (Pardadise Lost, Soilwork, Old Man´s Child, etc). “Ninewinged Serpent” will be released in Europe October 22nd 2007.

  • SWORN ENEMY New album "Maniacal" out in November & massive tour update!

After having toured with such high-profile acts as Slipknot, Slayer, Hatebreed, Sepultura, Unearth, Arch Enemy, playing Ozzfest, and guest-hosting MTV's "Headbanger's Ball", SWORN ENEMY have become an established and adored band for their constant pushing of music past trends and into a whole new age of metal. Now, with an European tour with Agnostic Front & Evergreen Terrace in November 2007, followed by this year's edition of the Persistence Tour (feat. Hatebreed, Agnostic Front, Ignite & more), and a new full-length under their belt, the five New Yorkers are well-prepared to take another huge step forward in their career!

SWORN ENEMY's unabashed talent and heavy-hitting rhythms have caught the attention of both Tim Lambesis (As I Lay Dying) and Joey Z (Life Of Agony), who are co-producing the band's new album "Maniacal" (OUT in Europe: November 12th, 2007). Lambesis and Z are both taking a very hands-on approach to this album, producing what is sure to be SWORN ENEMY's finest work to date. "Maniacal" takes SWORN ENEMY's sound to new heights with a thrashier edge pummelling the listener with a furiously blasting impact and unrivalled heaviness that is reminiscent of thrash titans like Exodus, Testament as well as early Megadeth and Anthrax.

Frontman Sal LoCoco of SWORN ENEMY comments: "In my personal opinion the new material is some of the best shit we have done to date and it seems to keep getti`n better. It has more of an aggressive feel to it with lots of thrash thrown in there!"

Adding to the all-star cast in support of this fantastic release, Jordan Mancino of As I Lay Dying recorded all drum tracks for the album. As a fan and friend of the band, Jordan was excited to be a part of this project and did an amazing job laying down a brutal rhythmical fundament for "Maniacal". Drums were recorded at Big Fish Studios, all guitars were nailed down at Method Of Groove Studio, and vocals at Studio Lambesis, whereas mixing duties have been handled by the up-and-coming producer Daniel Castleman (Destroy The Runner, Winds Of Plague).

Here is the track-listing for "Maniacal":
    1. Ignorance
    2. Time To Rage
    3. A Place of Solace
    4. Weather The Storm
    5. Destroyer
    6. The American Way
    7. Fear For Failure
    8. No End To This Nightmare
    9. Talk Is Cheap
    10. Said And Done

So, get prepared for a crushing new album and catch the band live with Agnostic Front and on this year's issue of the Persistence Tour alongside Hatebreed, Ignite, and many others!

Veteran San Francisco Bay Area metallers TESTAMENT have recruited Paul Bostaph (SLAYER, EXODUS, FORBIDDEN, SYSTEMATIC) to play the drums on the band's forthcoming album, tentatively due next spring via Nuclear Blast Records. The group was previously rehearsing and writing new material with British drummer Nick Barker (CRADLE OF FILTH, DIMMU BORGIR), but Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and international work visa issues have prevented Barker from continuing to be involved in the project.

Bostaph, who was a member of TESTAMENT for a brief period starting around February 2004, had previously played several live dates with the group in 1992 and appeared on the band's 1993 live EP, "Return to the Apocalyptic City". He also toured with TESTAMENT in 2006.

TESTAMENT's current lineup is rounded out by Chuck Billy on vocals, Alex Skolnick on lead guitar, Eric Peterson on rhythm guitar and Greg Christian on bass.

The band performed a brand new track, titled "The Afterlife", at the Earthshaker Fest in Germany on July 20 (view video below). "That's probably one of the more melodic, commercial-sounding songs," Billy recently told Metal-Rules.com. "The other songs are a lot more heavy, a lot more intense. That was one that just fell into place really quick and we knew we wanted to play a new song for that show so we decided not to give them everything but to give them something in the vein of what we were playing. I think it's a catchy song, a melodic song. But I don't think it represents the whole record, no."

  • OZZY OSBOURNE To Headline Next Year's OZZFEST

Gary Graff of Billboard.com reports that Ozzy Osbourne told reporters during a teleconference today (Oct. 8) that he will headline next year's Ozzfest bill — "as far as I know."

Osbourne — who begins an arena tour with ROB ZOMBIE on Oct. 18 in Seattle — told Billboard.com that any BLACK SABBATH plans in 2008, for Ozzfest or separately, are up in the air. "I'm the last person to be told anything," he cracked, but Osbourne noted that he felt if SABBATH was to do anything it would have to be up to a certain standard.

"I'd love to do another BLACK SABBATH album," Osbourne said. "We did try and write together; there are a bunch of things written. But the problem I'm having is it's got to be at least on the same level as when we departed. If it's not, then what's the point in doing it. I'm definitely doing another album, whether with my own band or SABBATH. As long as I'm not doing bullsh*t..."

  • NIN & Label part ways

    Trent Reznor makes major announcement
    10/08/2007 11:00 PM, Yahoo! Music
    courtesy of NME.com

Trent Reznor posted an announcement on Nine Inch Nails's website today (October 8) under the heading "Big News."
Reznor revealed that the band have parted ways with their long-time record label, and are now "free agents."

He wrote: "I've waited a LONG time to be able to make the following announcement: as of right now Nine Inch Nails is a totally free agent, free of any recording contract with any label.

"I have been under recording contracts for 18 years and have watched the business radically mutate from one thing to something inherently very different and it gives me great pleasure to be able to finally have a direct relationship with the audience as I see fit and appropriate."

This could amount to a serious double-blow to the mainstream music industry, coming the heels of Radiohead's recent announcement that they are allowing listeners to decide how much to pay for their highly anticipated forthcoming album In Rainbows.

Reznor added that he will soon post further announcements about what's in store for Nine Inch Nails in 2008.

At last! The release date for the new Thirdmoon album is set! On 23rd November, "Dimorphic Cynosure" will see the light of day. This concept album will be available as a JewelCase with a running time of 62 minutes at the retail market, and there will also be a limited edition coming as a DigiPak. Beside an exclusive artwork, the DigiPak version will also have 4 bonus tracks. • Original MANOWAR Guitarist's ROSS THE BOSS BAND Hard At Work On Debut

Norton Records plans to release of a compilation of DICTATORS demos and unreleased tracks called "Every Day Is Saturday" in the next few weeks.

Meanwhile, former DICTATORS/MANOWAR guitarist Ross The Boss and the ROSS THE BOSS BAND are focusing solely on writing new music for their highly anticipated first album.

When asked why he's not giving away much info about the new stuff, Ross replied, "Just because a lion is still does not mean it is not ready to attack."

Ross The Boss recently inked a deal with Germany's AFM Records.

Ross founded MANOWAR along with Joey DeMaio in the early '80s and recorded such metal milestones as "Battle Hymns" (1982), "Into Glory Ride" (1983), "Hail to England" (1984), "Sign of the Hammer" (1984), "Fighting The World" (1987) and "Kings of Metal" (1988). He left the band after the recordings of "Kings of Metal" and made a brief appearance with them at the legendary Earthshaker Fest in 2005.

In 2006 Ross played along with the MANOWAR cover band MEN OF WAR, featuring members of the German metal act IVORY NIGHT, at the Keep It True festival, playing songs from the early MANOWAR albums. More shows followed and finally Ross decided to make a new record with the same musicians under the name ROSS THE BOSS.
