  • According to Cincinnati.com, former Morbid Angel/Hate Eternal bassist/vocalist Jared Anderson passed away on Saturday, October 14 at the age of 30. The cause of his death has not yet been released. Visitation will take place Thursday, October 19 at the E. C. Nurre Funeral Home, St. Rt. 125 Amelia, Ohio from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. followed by Funeral Services Thursday, 11 a.m. at the Funeral Home. Interment Pierce Township Cemetery.

Jared Anderson was most recently working on a project which was known by its alias AS ONE... Jared described the band's musical direction on his MySpace page as "a revision of my Internecine writings, or shall I say 'written in the vein of.' The Internecine record itself was all 'old' material from the early to mid-'90s that I was given the offer to record, so obviously I opted to do so. Highly technical, obscure death metal was purely the intent of Internecine. Although most of the material was written many years prior to recording it, there were a couple of songs that were more recent. The two songs were 'The Elder Gods' and 'The Calling Of The Hordes'. This is where AS ONE... comes in, kind of continuing where I left off so to speak, with a much more matured sound."

    R.I.P. Jared!

  • BURNING SKIES "Desolation..." album details

On OCTOBER 31st, 2006 Lifeforce Records America is going to release the brand new album "Desolation..." from Bristol, UK's heaviest entity BURNING SKIES. Time for us to reveal some details about this amazing piece of tough-grind-metal mastery!

    IN STORES - October 31st, 2006
    1. Intro
    2. RKD
    3. The Sweet Sound Of Violence
    4. Bauer Power
    5. Desolation... (For The Denial Of Ignorance)
    6. Damaged
    7. Fairytale Supremacy
    8. Caught In The Circle
    9. Lurid Demolation
    10. Could You Sink Any Lower?

Bristol, UK's heaviest entity, BURNING SKIES, return with their newest killer-assault "Desolation..." to mark as a follow-up to their critically acclaimed LIFEFORCE RECORDS debut "Murder By Means Of Existence" (2004). The quintet has constructed a highly dynamic brand of blast beat fusion with intricate and brutal guitar riffs running the full gamut of extreme metal, from black metal to melodic death to American death metal and even some hardcore. Don't be surprised to find lots of tremolo picking, gruff vocals, churning mid- paced mosh parts, hammer-on/ pull-off riffs and thrashy picking patterns as well as a bit of melody and dissonance. If you're into bands such as LAMB OF GOD, THE RED CHORD, SLAYER, MISERY INDEX, A LIFE ONCE LOST, etc. you'll definitely be into BURNING SKIES as well! "Desolation..." was recorded at Rape Of Harmonies (HEAVEN SHALL BURN, NARZISS) studios in Triptis, Germany with producers Patrick W. Engel and Alexander Dietz and contains 10 tracks of the purest tough-grinding-brutality!

BURNING SKIES started out in 2002 when Stu, Liam and Andie came together due to their previous bands splitting up. They practiced vigorously with the focus of incorporating their diverse musical tastes into one heavy yet accessible sound, that had a main focus on caustic, near-unstoppable slices of laborious brutality. It took until the end of 2002, before a fitting shouter completed the band's line-up, for BURNING SKIES to complete the vision they set out to create. Things came together quickly and the first demo "Premonition Of Things To Come" was recorded in January 2003. BURNING SKIES immediately became an underground secret, which caught the attention of LIFEFORCE RECORDS and ushered in the release of their full length debut "Murder By Means Of Existence" in February 2004. Set on world domination through their diverse and crippling metallic sound, England's BURNING SKIES have created one of the most stunning and cohesive works of brutality known to man!

  • GRAVE “Masters of Death” tour ahead und Live DVD in the works!

Right on time with the cold and frosty season a hardly to top death metal avalanche is ready to crush everyone of you: Swedish death metal pioneers GRAVE get on European tour with Stockholm’s death metal elite! Fittingly entitled “Masters of Death”, cult death metal hordes Dismember, Entombed, Unleashed and – of course – GRAVE will rip your local stages to shreds. In addition to that, GRAVE are set to soon deliver their first official live DVD release ever, offering a recent concert recording as well as rare live footage, video clips and more. Vocalist Ola comments:

“The "Enraptured" DVD recording in Warsaw, Poland went very well. Great production crew and organisation from Metal Mind. The crowd was totally into the show and it felt really good to have that kind of response on such an important gig. We shot 16 songs and I can't wait to get the preview version. We have also been digging deep in the Grave archives for bonus material and there is a lot to choose from, so we'll see what ends up in the final release...

The "Masters of Death" tour will kick off in about 2 months time and we are really looking forward to it. To share the stage with 3 of Sweden’s greatest death metal bands (Entombed, Unleashed, Dismember) of all times will be a great experience. Also, being on the road with a bunch of good old friends will surely make this tour very special, not to mention the killer shows we will have...
    Metalll/Ola & GRAVE“

Also, GRAVE will represent pure death metal mastery in North America with label mates Vital Remains as well as Dismember, Demiricious and Withered in October as well as in December with Dismember, Entombed and The Absence. So, don’t miss your chance to witness them on stage!

  • CELTIC FROST - Video for "A Dying God Coming into Human Flesh"!

Official press release from the band:

In anticipation of Celtic Frost's imminent 47-date concert tour in the United States and Canada, the band have completed work on a video clip for the song "A Dying God Coming into Human Flesh", one of the most acclaimed songs from the new "Monotheist" album. The clip was directed by Jessie Fischer (no relation to Celtic Frost's Tom Gabriel Fischer) and filmed in Zurich, Switzerland, in mid-August 2006.

The video clip is being made available to the media via Century Media, and it will also be available for download from the band's website, www.celticfrost.com.

    Celtic Frost Concert Footage

Celtic Frost's sold-out concert at the Mean Fiddler in London on August 19, 2006, was filmed for broadcast by Redemption TV (www.redemptiontv.com). This show marked Celtic Frost's return to England after 16 long years, and the audience had come to celebrate the occasion in uproarious style at the packed and blisteringly hot venue at the heart of London. The only source of mild discontent was the Mean Fiddler's strict early curfew, which forced Celtic Frost to play an abbreviated set.

Said Tom Gabriel Fischer: "We are going to make up for this when we return for the proper European tour in early 2007".

Also filmed was Celtic Frost's epic and universally acclaimed nightly headliner performance (Kerrang! magazine: "absolute, spellbinding metal perfection") at the giant Wacken Open Air festival in Germany on August 4, 2006. This footage is scheduled to be broadcast as part of the legendary Rockpalast series on German TV (www.rockpalast.de).

  • FEAR MY THOUGHTS check in from the studio!

German modern melodic death upstarts FEAR MY THOUGHTS check in with a report straight from Hansen Studios where they are busy recording their debut for Century Media Records, set for an early 2007 release.

At this link you can check out a cool video of FEAR MY THOUGHTS (done by “Me23”/ www.twenty-dirt.com) during their hard work for their upcoming album “Vulcanus”. Guitarist Patrick comments on the working process so far:

”Hey there, we're still in the Jacob Hansen Studios in Denmark, working on the final mix for our new album. If you're into blastbeats and Deep Purple Hammond organs, you'll probably like what we're doing! Expect some more melody and some more experiments, but also some old-school-thrash vibes...

Besides the work we're still fighting against an armada of flies which invaded Denmark this summer. Imagine to wake up 6 o'clock in the morning with flies in your mouth and nose, and you will get a picture of our daily struggle, ;-)

We're really looking forward to our European tour with Kataklysm, Neaera and Quo Vadis in January 2007, and can't wait to present you our new songs on stage!

Yours, Pat + FEAR MY THOUGHTS"

  • SHINING Front Man Kvarforth Ends His Life

There have been many rumours saying that our front-man, founder Kvarforth is dead, we wish these speculations to be put to an end by telling you what we know:

A couple of days ago, we received a letter from a person very close to Kvarforth telling us that Kvaforth had decided to leave this world behind and also introducing as a kind off last will, a new singer to replace him for future events of Shining.

All that we know for 200% is that Kvarforth has been missing for the past 4 weeks and have, as his friend indicates, chosen to end his own life and for us, the band, this come as no surprise as he have been suffering from extreme anxiety and depressions the past 6 months and some truly extreme things, considering his own personal life, occurred dramatically right before he disappeared. However, we wish to send our deepest regrets to our friend and sadistical leader Kvarforth wherever he might be!

Kvarforth did as mentioned, involve a new singer in the band without telling us before he left, his name is Ghoul and will be introduced on the release-show we are holding in December.

No one of us, the band members have meet him yet but a contact have been established via letter-exchange, and as this was Kvarforth's own will, we are now officially presenting our newest member, whoever this might be, Ghoul.

It shall also be said that both me and the guys in the band have heard Kvarforths wish that Shining should get a new singer if he died or disappeared but we never thought that it would come to this point!

  • CITIZEN Sign To Relapse Records

Relapse Records is proud to announce the signing of political grindcore guerrillas CITIZEN.

CITIZEN formed in 2004 when Matt Widener (CRETIN), Derrick Psaros, and Mike Mihalik decided to take political grindcore one step further. Widener explains: "Most political bands explore the problems of the world, the crumbling environment, despotic governments&that's step one for instituting change. But punk and metal rarely go beyond the shock phase. We wanted extreme music to reach the next step...that rally cry, where instead of hopelessness, people are reminded of their power to create change. Music that inspires, is stirring, proud, patriotic & that's the challenge for CITIZEN.

CITIZEN's driving d-beats and anthemic blasts will make their debut on Relapse in 2007 with their as-of-yet untitled official U.S. debut. This record will be a concept album allegorizing the fall of a nation, told in Homeric scope. "We're writing riffs like leitmotivs, Widener says, "to symbolize different concepts of freedom and revolution. It's more nuanced and less on-the-nose this time around. And the music is going even farther into unique CITIZEN territory-more parade marches, war cry-like blasts, the whole thing unabashedly propagandistic. I think we're stepping away from the bands before us and coming into our own.

In 2005 CITIZEN released Manifesto For The New Patriot on Code Breaker / Earache, a 15-song compact that married punk-weighted grindcore with revolutionary lyrics culled from guerrilla warfare manuals. Manifesto& mixed the influences of NAPALM DEATH, ASSUCK, DISCHARGE, BRUTAL TRUTH, and TERRORIZER, with fragments of world national anthems, war ballads, and military marches.

CITIZEN tracks can be heard via their official website: http://guerrillagrind.org/ and MySpace page: www.myspace.com/guerrillagrind.

  • I, a tribute to Quorthon

During last week's Hole In The Sky festival in Bergen, Norway, Abbath – frontman of I and IMMORTAL – stressed out that the song 'Far Beyond The Quiet' from the forthcoming I debut "Between Two Worlds" (in stores: November 3rd) was written in the honor of the deceased BATHORY mastermind Quorthon. Former IMMORTAL guitarist and lyricist Demonaz composed all the lyrics for "Between Two Worlds", claiming to have attempted to write in the Swede's style.

The enclosed picture shows the current I line up, including lyricist Demonaz, who doesn't appear live. Left to right is: Armagedda on drums, TC King on bass, Ice Dale on lead guitar, Demonaz and Abbath on vocals, guitar
  • CANDLEMASS about the upcoming album

CANDLEMASS mainman, songwriter and bassist Leif Edling has tuned in to enlighten fans of the living Swedish Doom legend a tiny bit regarding the whole Messiah issue: "It is hotter than hell right now (in sweden anyway) and most of you doomlovers are on vacation. So are we. And we do get worried questions though about what is going on in the band regarding Messiah and the new album.

I can’t really say if Messiah will sing on the upcoming album or not, but the last thing I heard was a little bit positive. Let us hope that it becomes 100% certain it will happen. It’s all between Messiah and the label now you see. It is summer holiday time don’t forget. I hope this issue can be solved soon as we need to carry on the work on the new album.

The past months hasn’t exactly been the best time for Candlemass. Myself, Lars, Mappe and Jan are pretty frustrated over the current singer situation, but we will solve it. Somehow.

We got a great C-mass album in the pipeline, we will not waste that! If Messiah sings or not is really up to the man himself now." Let`s all hope mighty Messiah will truly return!!! The release of the new and yet untitled CANDLEMASS album is tentatively schedule for release on February 2nd, 2007, on Nuclear Blast.

YES........this is the same Atrocity that started back in the heyday of the underground! Atrocity (not to be confused with the German band) was formed in early 1985 in Torrington, Connecticut by Rob Wedda (V), Rich Flint (B), Scott Reynolds (G) and Jeff White (D), is influenced by underground genres from thrash to hardcore and punk to death metal.

By 1989 the band had pushed out three demos (Toxic Death, Ravaged by Disease, Mangled) and a self-financed 7 EP entitled Hatred Birth. Atrocity soon caught the attention of U.K. based Metalcore Records, a subsidiary of Plastichead Distribution, to with they ultimately signed with.

Atrocitys first album, Infected (1990), is very raw and featured a very violent death metal/grind sound. Reviews of Infected landed Atrocity into the ranks of early Napalm Death and Repulsion. The second album, The Art of Death (1992), saw a line-up change when Scott left the band and was replaced by Jesse Piechowski on guitar. The Art of Death is also better produced, but the bands aggressive mix of death and grind were still prevalent.

Atrocity disbanded in 1993 but are back to writing new noise with the original line-up!

In the meantime Atrocity has teamed up with Open Grave Records to release an E.P. featuring alternate versions of previously released songs recorded during the Infected sessions in 1990. More information on this release will be made available soon.

To find our more information on Atrocity please visit Open Grave Records (http://www.opengraverecords.com) or Atrocity via their myspace page (http://www.myspace.com/atrocityus).

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 6, 2006 - Dream Theater's newly released DVD, SCORE: 20th ANNIVERSARY WORLD TOUR LIVE WITH THE OCTAVARIUM ORCHESTRA, has debuted at #1 on Billboard's Music DVD chart.

Dream Theater concluded its lengthy 20th Anniversary World Tour earlier this year with a triumphant sold-out concert at New York City's famed Radio City Music Hall. The emotional performance included songs representing two decades of music from the acclaimed progressive hard rock quintet and featured the band backed by a 30-piece orchestra during the show's second set. Rhino Records captures every note from that special evening with CD and DVD versions of SCORE: 20th ANNIVERSARY WORLD TOUR LIVE WITH THE OCTAVARIUM ORCHESTRA. Both became available from Rhino on Aug. 29 at all retail outlets and www.rhino.com for a suggested retail price of $24.98 for the three-CD collection and $24.99 for the double DVD. A digital version of the album is also available for download at all digital outlets.

The CD and DVD versions both feature the Apr. 1 concert in its entirety and contain nearly three hours of virtuoso metal from guitarist John Petrucci; drummer Mike Portnoy; vocalist James LaBrie; bassist John Myung and keyboardist Jordan Rudess. As the culmination of two decades spent mostly on the road, Portnoy says the Radio City Music Hall performance was a defining moment in the band's legendary 20-year run that captures the group at the pinnacle of its prowess. "Never before have I been moved onstage as much as I was that night," he recalls. "There were several points where I was literally brought to tears by the power and emotion in the air."

A treat for the legion of longtime Dream Theater fans devoted to the band's dynamic sound and marathon live shows, SCORE touches upon every era of the band's career. Ranging from "Another Won," the first song the band ever wrote when they formed in 1985 at the Berklee College Of Music in Boston, spanning all the way through the band's latest studio album, 2005's Octavarium.

The first disc includes "Afterlife" from Dream Theater's 1989 debut, When Dream And Day Unite, along with "Under A Glass Moon," from 1992's breakthrough album Images And Words, "Innocence Faded" from 1994's Awake, "The Spirit Carries On" from 1999's Scenes From A Memory, and the rare outtake "Raise The Knife," an 11-minute workout from 1997's Falling Into Infinity sessions.

The second and third discs of SCORE feature Dream Theater backed by a 30-piece orchestra. Led by conductor and arranger Jamshied Sharifi, the Octavarium Orchestra accompanied the band as they tackled one of DT's most complex pieces of music, the 40-minute epic "Six Degrees Of Inner Turbulence." The inimitable New York-based band ended its anniversary concert with an intense, 30-minute version of "Octavarium" before returning for an encore to thank their rabid supporters with a performance of the fan favorite "Metropolis."

Directed by Portnoy, the DVD version of SCORE is fueled by Dream Theater's inspired performance and highlights the concert's spectacular light show. The DVD also features video backdrops that projected sly references about the band's past throughout the evening. In addition to the complete concert, the DVD contains several extras, including the animated sequence played during the band's performance of "Octavarium," and a one-hour documentary - The Score So Far... - covering the band's career, unreleased footage, and interviews with current and previous band members. As another bonus, the DVD includes three live performances culled from Portnoy's archives: "Another Day," from a 1993 concert in Tokyo; a 2002 performance of "The Great Debate" in Bucharest; and a 2005 performance of "Honor Thy Father" in Chicago.

A grassroots phenomenon for 20 years, Dream Theater continues to record studio albums acclaimed for award-winning musicianship as well as artistic vision. To meet the demands of a demanding global fan base, the band also maintains an active touring schedule that regularly includes sold-out performances around the world. "The biggest reason we've been able to endure is our devoted fan base," says Portnoy. "Our fans are a big part of our story - just as big as the members and the music."

  • American Hardcore - Motion Picture Soundtrack Due 10/10 From Rhino

American Hardcore - The History Of American Punk Rock (1980-1986) -
Motion Picture Soundtrack Traces the Evolution of a Raging Subculture With
Music by Black Flag, Bad Brains, Minor Threat and More

Available September 26 as a Digital Download and In Stores October 10

LOS ANGELES - Emerging in the early 1980s, hardcore punk championed independent thought and a fuck-you attitude - all with a fierce "Do-It-Yourself" aesthetic. More than just loud, fast music driven by primal aggression, bands like Bad Brains and Black Flag helped launch an underground social movement that tapped into the disaffection of misfit kids who came of age in the Reagan era. Filmmaker Paul Rachman and writer Steven Blush capture the spirit of this subculture with their documentary, American Hardcore, and Rhino Records delivers the hard-hitting soundtrack. AMERICAN HARDCORE -THE HISTORY OF AMERICAN PUNK ROCK (1980-1986) - MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK will be available as a download at all digital retail outlets on September 26. The soundtrack will then be released at all physical retail outlets and at www.rhino.com on October 10 for a suggested retail price of $15.98.

Inspired by his book American Hardcore: A Tribal History, writer and producer Steven Blush teamed with director Paul Rachman for the documentary, American Hardcore: The History of American Punk Rock 1980-1986. The film is being distributed through Sony Pictures Classics and opens in New York on September 22, Los Angeles and Irvine on September 29, and nationwide on October 13. Combining interviews and performance footage, the film reinvents the explosive energy of the movement while simultaneously suggesting how the music can only be read against the restrictive, repressive social consciousness of American life during "the Reagan years" - a political climate eerily reminiscent of today's. For more information on the film visit www.americanhardcoremovie.com.

True to hardcore's lean form, the soundtrack features 26 tracks and clocks in at a dizzying 37 minutes. The album contains music featured in the film recorded by the subculture's pioneers from different scenes across the country. The Washington D.C. scene is represented with icons Bad Brains and Minor Threat; the Cro-Mags rep the New York scene; and the Boston scene is showcased with tracks from Jerry's Kids, Gang Green, and SS Decontrol. The West Coast scenes in Southern California (Black Flag, Circle Jerks, Adolescents), Northern California (DRI, Flipper) and the Pacific Northwest (D.O.A.) are all represented as well. AMERICAN HARDCORE also spotlights other influential songs and artists such as "I Remember" by MDC (aka Million Dead Cops), "Bad Attitude" by Articles Of Faith, "Think For Me" by Die Kreuzen, "My Minds Diseased" by Battalion Of Saints and "I Hate Sports" by 7 Seconds.

HOLLYWOOD – Shrapnel Records is proud to release “Loud And Dangerous”, L.A. Guns live album, to the world on September 12th, 2006. “Loud And Dangerous” is a reference to the band’s notoriously raucous live concert performances from which they gained a worldwide audience. This record contains not only some of the band’s biggest hits, but is also the first release of live versions of the band’s best newer material. As a bonus, the Cd includes exclusive live video performances of Hollywood’s Burning and It Don’t Mean Nothing.

L.A. Guns emerged on the scene as an L.A. super group in the late 80’s and struck gold with a series of albums that appealed to metal fans but were heavily steeped in the time honored tradition of hard rock and roll.

Vocalist Phil Lewis has long been one of rock’s greatest front-men, possessing a distinctive voice that at times reveals his British heritage. Having much more in common with groups such as the Stones, AC/DC, and the New York Dolls than most bands from the metal scene, L.A. Guns are one of the few bands from this era who have maintained both a healthy fan base and an active international touring schedule.

  • CANDIRIA drummer Kenneth Schalk has confirmed his departure from the group. A statement regarding his reasons for leaving can be found at this location.

As previously reported, two new CANDIRIA tracks — "Legion" and "Reflection Eleven" — have been posted online on the group's MySpace page. Both songs come off the group's upcoming album, "Kiss the Lie", tentatively due before the end of the year. The CD was produced by John LaMacchia and Carley Coma at Jupiter 4 and Purple Light studios and was mixed in Brooklyn with Michael Barile (E.TOWN CONCRETE).

Back in April 2005, CANDIRIA won a $29 million verdict for injuries they suffered when a truck hit their tour van.

The members of CANDIRIA were hurt as they traveled to a gig in Cleveland on Sept. 9, 2002, when a tractor trailer owned by Paige Transportation Inc. hit them near Buffalo.

The crash sent their van rolling over five to seven times, and all the members received injuries.

The aftermath of the crash is documented on the cover of the band's last album, "What Doesn't Kill You…", with photos of the band's demolished van.

"What Doesn't Kill You..." was released in July 2004 through Type A Records.

  • Lamb Of God's Sacrament Debuts at #8 On The Billboard Top 200

New York, NY- "The Future of American Metal" is here!  Lamb of God has exploded on to the Billboard Top 200 with their fourth studio release Sacrament.  Debuting at #8 with 63,000 in sales, "Lamb of God did everything a metal band is supposed to do on Sacrament." Billboard Magazine

Produced by Machine (Clutch, King Crimson, Pitchshifter, 18 Visions, Every Time I Die), Sacrament is a diverse, articulate and pummeling album that shows how far the band has come as musicians and lyricists.   In an era of stagnant, contrived metal, Sacrament is a sincere expression of the turmoil that has tumbled through the last few years of the band's existence. It is a harrowing rush of honesty, a declaration that no matter what anyone else is playing, Lamb of God will always follow their own hearts.

"...raw and passionate...a rich, diverse sounding record. Sacrament boasts an impressive degree of sonic clarity, and the band's playing is tight and dexterous." Revolver Magazine

"Kneel before this Sacrament and hear 21st-century metal in all its recombinant brutality-a little death, a little thrash, some Southern riffing up your ass. Singer Randy Blythe avoids Cookie Monster cliché while keeping his growl somewhere south of Hades. How they managed to turn dangerously geeky prog chops into the sound of Lucifer storming heaven, well, God only knows". Spin Magazine October 2006

Available to the media via Century Media, it will also be available for download Sept. 5th from the band's website, here, and at the Century Media website, here.

Celtic Frost's sold-out August 19 concert at London’s Mean Fiddler, can be viewed in its entirety here courtesy of Redemption TV. After a 16-year absence, the uproarious audience celebrated the band’s return at the packed and blisteringly hot venue. Performing an abbreviated set due to the Mean Fiddler's strict early curfew Tom Gabriel Fischer promised, "to make up for this (the short set) when we return for the proper European tour in early 2007." Also filmed was Celtic Frost's epic and universally acclaimed Wacken Open Air headlining performance (Kerrang! Magazine "absolute, spellbinding metal perfection") and is scheduled to be broadcast as part of German TV’s legendary Rockpalast series.

  • DAM enter the studio

London's DAM have entered the recording studio to work on their next, as-yet untitled, second album to be released by CANDLELIGHT RECORDS next year. Guitarist/Vocalist Nathan offers his thoughts:

"We laid down the drum tracks, bass tracks and some initial guitars last weekend at EASTCOTE STUDIOS, in LONDON. The studo is in the area where the Notting Hill carnival took place: it was total unadulterated madness. We were effectively under siege, and I think this contributed to the intensity of the session. We practically came to blows on more than one occasion, but everyone ended up venting their aggression and frustration in their performances.

    Drummer Gomez adds:

"The sound is already far cleaner and better defined than the last opus. I don't think we could have had a better drum sound if we'd gone to studio Fredman! The material itself is intense, catchy, technical when it needs to be and simple when the music calls for it. There's lots of Death, Morbid angel, Emperor, Suffocation in there and mostly a lot of Dam. I'm very proud of this: we're putting a lot of work and energy into it, and I'm confident it's going to be a very strong release.

Dam - twisted, ground-breaking extreme metal of the highest order.

  • Celtic Frost Webstore; Renewed H.R. Giger/Celtic Frost Collaboration
On the eve of their first North American tour in 17 years, Celtic Frost will be launching their official webstore the first week of September. Featuring a full range of merchandise the store will also offer times not available elsewhere. Keep checking the band’s website, www.celticfrost.com, for the webstore’s launch and additional Celtic Frost information.
To celebrate their legendary collaboration and enduring friendship, renown Swiss surrealist H.R. Giger and Celtic Frost proudly announce the exclusive introduction of a line of specially created To Mega Therion album merchandise featuring H.R. Giger's acclaimed "Satan I" painting.
In late 1983, H.R. Giger offered Hellhammer’s Tom Gabriel Fischer and Martin Eric Ain the free use of "Satan I" (along with the painting "Victory III") for an album cover. Honored the young Swiss band agreed to Giger’s condition that the band would refrain from making any other commercial use of the paintings, particularly for merchandising. Fischer and Ain later expanded upon the concept of Hellhammer to form Celtic Frost (1984) and the paintings were eventually used for the cover of Celtic Frost's legendary 1985 release To Mega Therion, never breaking the oath they made to H.R. Giger.
In 2006, H.R. Giger granted Celtic Frost the use of "Satan I" as an oversize backdrop for the band's larger shows. To commemorate their long-standing collaboration and the band's strict compliance with H.R. Giger's wishes, H.R. Giger and Celtic Frost have decided to release, for the first time ever, an official line of "Satan I"/To Mega Therion t-shirts, hoodies, and long sleeve t-shirts. This merchandise has been designed in accordance with H.R. Giger's comprehensive instructions and has been personally approved by the artist. This is the only official "Satan I"/To Mega Therion merchandise worldwide, and it is being manufactured to the highest possible standards. Any "Satan I"/To Mega Therion merchandise not purchased either through Celtic Frost's webstore or from the official merchandise booth at Celtic Frost's concerts is bootleg merchandise and neither legal nor licensed by H.R. Giger.
  • New EYES OF LIGEIA track posted

Paragon Recs have posted a track, "The Shadow Out of Time", from the upcoming, new Eyes of Ligeia album. Titled, A Fever Which Would Cling to Thee Forever. OUT SEPTEMBER 19th!!

The fourth full-length, A Fever Which Would Cling to Thee Forever, by "cult" Doom Metal act, Eyes of Ligeia, continues where their previous album "What the Moon Brings" left off. Continuing a transformation from a Death/Doom metal band, to an eerie Black Metal band with prominant Doom parts. A bit of a cross between Xasthur, Thergothon, Unholy, and early Ancient Wisdom, while giving a nod to the unique and memorable riffing of the first two Eyes of Ligeia albums. This is an album that promises to be one of the standouts of 2006.

As rumours have started to spread we feel obliged to confirm Jon Nödtveidt's death.

Jon Nödtveidt was a man who lived his life according to hisconvictions and True Will. A couple of days ago he chose to end his life by his own hands. As a true Satanist he led his life in the way he wanted and ended it when he felt that he had fulfilled his self-created destiny. Not everyone will have understanding or acceptance for his personal path in this life and beyond, but all must respect his choice.

Those of us who have met him in his last days can assure that he was more focussed, happier and stronger than ever. It is our full conviction that he left this world of lies with a scornful laughter, knowing that he had fulfilled everything that he had set up for himself to accomplish. The empty space that he leaves behind will be filled with the dark essence that he manifested through his life and black-magical work. His legacy and Luciferian Fire will live on through those few who truly knew him and appreciated his work for what it really was and still is. As our brother's goal in life and death never was to "Rest in Peace", we will instead wish him victories in all battles to come, until the Acosmic Destiny has been fulfilled.

For the glory of the Dark Gods and the Wrathful Chaos!
