  • LACUNA COIL Enter The Studio; Choose New Album Title

The Italian hard rock sensation, whose standout Active Rock singles for "Heaven's A Lie" and "Swamped," led Billboard to name them one of last year's biggest success stories - entered the studio on September 3rd to begin tracking Karmacode, the highly anticipated follow-up to their critically acclaimed commercial breakthrough album, Comalies. The new effort is currently being co-produced once again with Waldemar Sorychta and LACUNA COIL and will be mixed by the acclaimed Ronald Prent (Rammstein, H.I.M., Iron Maiden) and mastered by Darcy Proper (Steely Dan, Porcupine Tree, R.E.M.) at Galaxy Studios in Belgium. An early 2006 release is expected.

Andrea Ferro (vocals) describes the meaning behind the album's unique title: "When it came to coming up with an album title I wanted to combine one 'old' word that is spiritually connected with another that offers a link to our more 'modern' times. If there were an actual translation of Karmacode it would be something like 'spiritual DNA and the message behind it'. The title attempts to balance our modern, overwhelming, self-centered, fast-paced lifestyles and the desire we all have to live a more spiritual, more compassionate and more fulfilling life."

With three full-length albums and two EPs to their credit, LACUNA COIL has ensured that each offering further enunciates the subtle, solemn beauty the sextet creates. Comalies maturely exhibits the trademarked gothic overtones and poignant melancholy of their haunting musical landscape.

In early 2004, Lacuna Coil's successes were validated with an invitation to participate in that year's Ozzfest, supporting such metal stalwarts as Judas Priest, Slayer and Ozzy himself. Additional summer touring with P.O.D. and Ozzfest off-date performances with Superjoint Ritual and Devildriver gave the band its busiest season yet. Led by the undeniably captivating Cristina Scabbia (vocals), the group garnered mainstream acclaim from such publications as Entertainment Weekly, Rolling Stone and Stuff, among others.

The group spent this summer performing at some of Europe's premier festivals alongside such household names as Green Day, Incubus and System of A Down, while completing the songwriting process for the new album. Karmacode is shaping up to be the band's career defining release and it will force the entire hard rock world to take notice.

  • IMPALED Infect Unsuspecting Audiences: Corruption Absolute

Suffering under Oakland’s psychotic surgeons Impaled’s bile-encrusted fists, U.S. audiences have unwittingly been subjected to the band’s morbid surgical mayhem. Supporting their newest release, Death After Life, the unrelenting horde of medical deviants is currently racing across America’s heartland in their quest to ingrain their razor-sharpened guitar riffs and heart-stoppingly heavy rhythms into the hearts and minds of fans. Bassist/vocalist Ross Sewage checked in with this road report, “We’ve had a lot of fun, and the fans have seemed to enjoy it… that is until we scooped out their eyeballs with speculum at which point their screams of enjoyment were indistinguishable from their screams of terror. Disgorge and Blessing The Hogs don’t seem to mind the splattered remains, especially since we’ve all enjoyed feasting upon the remains of the dead together. And my Mom came to a show too; she thought it was brilliant and brought along the fava beans…”

Don’t miss the opportunity to catch Impaled on their remaining U.S. dates.

For Fans of Meshuggah, Cynic, Atheist, Martyr.

A mix of extreme metal and jazz fusion ! progressive tech thrash death metal.

"their flourishing jazz breaks make constant appearances. No band has been able to have such prominence in this kind of fusion since Cynic. Atheist were good, but Coprofago do it with so much ease that it's almost like jazz and metal drip from their amps. The ambience and atmosphere behind it is awe-inspiring and completely addictive. Pick this CD up at all costs." –Uranium Music

"Strong and heavy riffs in addition of really aggressive vocals, powerful drums with a lot of breaks, and above all technical solos with a lot of Jazz influences. That’s the recipe of Coprofago’s music and believe me it’s good. It’s original and fresh and this is one of the big surprises of the year." 8.5 –Metal Storm

"Unorthodox Creative Criteria, oozes with the unbelievable talent this Chilean quartet brings to the listener. "The Inborn Mechanics" demonstrates Coprofago's expertise at turning turbulent metal chaos into laid-back contemporary jazz. Coprofago can find themselves included on the very prestigious list of musical pioneers who created the absolutely flawless fusion of two different genres." –decoymusic.com

HOLLYWOOD (September 28, 2005) - Marc Rizzo is one of the new breed of young guitarists in contemporary bands and has built a substantial following through his years of touring and recording with IL Nino and Soulfly. Recently, Rizzo has stepped out with solo projects that reveal a phenomenal command of the guitar. “Colossal Myopia” unveils Rizzo to be a master musician with deep musical roots in metal, classical and flamenco guitar

“Colossal Myopia” is a mixture of all the music that Rizzo listens to. It’s a combination of Metal Nuevo Flamenco and Jazz. “I don’t really listen to one type of music and I think my record showcases that,” explains Rizzo. “It’s an all instrumental CD for music lovers that want to enjoy pure music without all the politics and negative lyrical content.”

Rizzo’s raw energy combined with the talent of a new-generation shred-master is a much needed breath of fresh air to the instrumental rock genre. Rizzo goes on to describe some of the music - “Colossal Myopia is a song that I wrote while trying to combine heavy riffing with flamenco buleria rhythms. Introspection Of An Introvert is pure shred metal, while the Piñata Hits Back is Nuevo flamenco guitar with salsa style percussion. This entire record is a total trip and I’m glad to finally have put a record out that combines all the music I love on one record. “Colossal Myopia” is really just a look into my CD collection, because I love listening to Paco de Lucia and then metal. These styles were meant to be together.”

  • Fire Destroys GRENOUER's Rehearsal Studio

On the 23rd September 2005, as a result of a fire at the Grenouer make shift rehearsal studio, the band lost all their instruments and equipment. As the band was simply subletting this space in the Vereteno factory in St. Petersburg they cannot expect any financial compensation from the factory owners, let alone an apology. The fire started as a consequence of an unqualified welder (twat!!!) who was carrying some work in the nearby area. At the moment the factory management is doing everything possible to cover these facts up and create a new version of events in order to avoid hefty penalties.

You can see all the pictures taken at the scene after the fire on the official Grenouer forum at:

All of the bands equipment either perished in the fire or became totally unusable due water damagefrom the firemen's attempts to put the fire out. This unfortunate event took place right at the peakof Grenouer's preparation for the recording of their fifth full length album when the dates for the recording sessions had already been booked at the ASTIA studio in Finland.

IND (Vocals): "This situation is quite dramatic because the fire has been a set back to many of our plans, however we're not going to give up! On the contrary, we must get through this and at the very least partially realise our plans. Of course we're gonna start by getting new instruments, amps and all other necessary devices and if someone feels like giving us a helping hand they can always get in touch with us by email, however, our enemies will now have reason to celebrate. As a result of this incident, I believe that the subject of fire and destruction will now find a place in our writing.

Anyway, it's too early to write Grenouer off yet!!!"

On September 18th As I Lay Dying Teamed Up With Director Lex Halaby (Killswitch Engage, Mudvayne) To Add "Through Struggle" To The AILD'S Video Arsenal.

Shot at the Morell Meats Lot, an abandoned meat locker near downtown Los Angeles, these eerie cement structures played as a backdrop to "Through Struggle" the emotionally charged second single off As I Lay Dying's record breaking album Shadows Are Security. The video and song are tightly connected; bringing life to a concept that captures the strength of an intense and powerful song.

Band members and Lex collaborated on the unique and vividly dark concept drawing inspiration from a very specific stanza in the lyrics:

Only through struggle have I found rest
With a piece of me taken away
    I begin to understand
Hollow out this machine like chest
With its gears that turn to make me feel
And assembled thoughts that fade away
Remove from me this deception that I called love

The strong imagery created during this shoot brings a new life to "Through Struggle." Tim Lambesis elaborates, "Spending a whole day in an old abandoned meat locker may not sound like a good time, but we really could not be happier with how well the video shoot went with Lex Halaby and his crew. The content came out way better than we could have expected, the imagery really captured the song, and we can't wait for you all to see it."

Watch Out for "Through Struggle" video programs across the air waves!! Metal Maniacs

  • DESPISED ICON Embark On Massive North American Tour With Suffocation and Cryptopsy; New Video Completed

The Montreal-based deathcore six-piece DESPISED ICON will embark on a massive North American tour this week alongside Suffocation, Cryptopsy and Aborted in support of The Healing Process, their highly-acclaimed new album. The group's explosive live performances on their first national US tour alongside Deicide, Immolation, Skinless and With Passion earlier this year caught the entire metal community's attention, and they look to further establish their position as one of the genre's most devastating new acts with this upcoming run. DESPISED ICON recently shot a video for the track "The Sunset Will Never Charm Us" with acclaimed director Jean - Philippe Bernier (A Perfect Murder). Look for it to make its network debut late next month.

Alex Erian (vocals) checks in with the following report: "Suffocation got most of us into death metal. I remember being so pissed off when I missed what was to be their 'last show' in Montreal a few years back because I was under-age. We are all honored and stoked as hell to be given the chance to tour North America with those dudes and the almighty Cryptopsy and Aborted. Decapitated and Cattle Decapitation are also joining the fun on a few select dates. Those are some of our favorite bands, and it doesn't get any better then this. We are excited to tour the US once again and look forward to seeing everyone we had the pleasure of meeting last time around. See you guys on the road."

DESPISED ICON's renowned sophomore release, The Healing Process, was produced by guitarist Yannick St-Amand (Ion Dissonance, Neuraxis), mixed by JF Dagenais (Misery Index, Kataklysm) and mastered by Alan Douches (Shadows Fall, Dillinger Escape Plan). This album is a relentless slab of sheer aggression matched with impeccable time changes that quickly raises the bar for their peers.

Classic Diamonds by German Metal Goddess Doro Pesch, the CD, features nine revamped Doro Classics. Newly recorded by Doro, The Metal Classic Night Orchestra, provides a sweeping symphonic dreamscape to such favorites as "I Rule The Ruins," "Metal Tango," "All We Are," "Fur Immer," "Burn It Up," "Tausend Mal Gelebt," "I'm In Love With You," "Undying" and "Love Me In Black."

Four new songs grace the groundbreaking collection: "Breaking The Law" (a cover of the Judas Priest standard done as a duet with Accept's Udo Dirkschneider), "Let Love Rain On Me" (a beautiful soulful ballad; also the lead song on a simultaneously-released seven-song EP), the instant-anthem "Always Live To Win" and "She's Like Thunder" (dedicated to Doro's best friend, undefeated female boxing champion Regina Halmich).

The DVD features a 43-minute eight song "Live in Wacken" concert spot from the prestigious Wacken Open Air 2004 Festival, wherein Doro performs with her band and with The Metal Classics Night Orchestra. Musical guests include Blaze Bayley and Chris Caffery Savatage/TSO). Following the concert is a 15-minute "Impressions Of The Tour;" an intimate backstage look, complete with interviews. "Live In Hamburg" follows with over an hour of concert footage. The DVD ends with an hour of "Extras" that include the "Let Love Rain On Me" video, a special "the making-of" about the video, as well as television appearances.

The release of the DVD and CD of Classic Diamonds, as well as the release of the Let Love Rain On Me EP - which features Doro singing in Spanish ("Llueva En Mi Tu Amor") and French ("Pluie D'Amour") - raises the level of Doro artistry to new heights. Metal Maniacs

  • PRIMORDIAL's first North American performance at HEATHEN CRUSADE METAL FEST

The wait is finally over!!! Ireland's very own Primordial is set to storm the US shores January 21st 2006 at the Heathen Crusade Metal Fest in Columbia Heights, MN. Primordial's latest opus The Gathering Wilderness was recorded in October 2004 with famed engineer Billy Anderson (Sleep, Neurosis, Melvins, Fantomas, Brutal Truth etc.). Still dark as ever, still unique as ever, still Irish as ever, the years havent dulled Primordial and this album merely spells out a new chapter in the bands history. Some bands play music for the sake of a "nice" tune, a "nice" melody or purely for the sake of playing. Some other bands play because it is in their blood, their culture, their history and folklore and life would not be the same without it... Primordial is one of these bands.

Featuring, in their FIRST North American performances:

    MOONSORROW from Finland
    PRIMORDIAL from Ireland
    THYRFING from Sweden

Plus: TODESBONDEN (featuring Laurie Ann Haus of Autumn Tears, Ephemeral Sun, Rain Fell Within, Garden of Shadows, Nest), THE CHASM, TYPHUS and more bands to be announced soon!

New York hardcore legends Most Precious Blood (MPB) have been named by Hatebreed as direct support on their 10th anniversary tour this fall. As MPB guitarist Justin Brannan relates "We got an e-mail while on tour from Jamey (Jasta) asking us to join them on tour. It's gonna be great as we've been great friends with those guys for years but never got a chance to tour together." It's a full circle as Hatebreed actually opened for Most Precious Blood in their early incarnation as Indecision many years ago. Most Precious Blood have had an interesting year to say the least. The band just returned from a two week tour of South Africa as the FIRST US hardcore band to tour the country. "I think the kids there were just as surprised to see us as we were surprised them," Brannan relates of the sold out shows through the tour. The band who pride themselves in their upbringing in gritty New York City were even taken aback by seeing how rugged the street life there is. "We were leaving a restauraunt and saw an armed robbery that ended in a shoot-out. It was insane! "

Most Precious Blood also just released their new full-length Merciless on Trustkill Records which upholds their potent mesh of hardcore, stinging metal riffs, and goth aesthetic in their sound. The band also keeps politics and outspokenness on the world alive in their lyrics and imagery. Merciless is the second album by the band to be banned because of its cover art, the booklet displaying a very life-like corpse who has rotting in his apartment. "It wasn't done for shock value, its portraying reality. It's a young guy who dies in his apartment and no one cares enough to find out why he isn't around anymore." Even more ironic is the band got more heat from this album cover than their last one Our Lady Of Annihilation which had an image of the Virgin Mary with dynamite strapped to her chest.

True to form, Merciless has lyrical ammo throughout and pulls no punches while talking about religion as fueling war, animal rights, veganism and commercialism's imposition on the punk scene.

"When we went to write this album, we had nothing prepared and I thought we would be stuck for material, but after a few weeks we were hard-pressed to make a decision on what to include in the album."

The band is made up of guitarists Justin Brannan and Rachel Rosen, bassist Matty Miller, vocalist Rob Fusco and drummer Colin (the twelfth in a rotating cast which still draws Spinal Tap comparisons) and formed in the summer of 2000 after the breakup of notable hardcore band Indecision, of which Rachel and Justin were members. The relentlessness of their guitars and the fury of their words have landed Most Precious Blood on MTV2's Headbanger's Ball as well as on the pages of Alternative Press and Revolver Magazine and have seen them tour with Bleeding Through, Rise Against, The Explosion and Remembering Never.

On 06/06/06 the band plans to release a follow up to 2004's Up In Them Guts, which was released on No Idea Records. The band still plans to continue their relationship with No Idea, as they are scheduled to release the vinyl version of the new record.

Planes Mistaken For Stars lead singer and guitarist Gared O'Donnell had this to say regarding the new signing:

    "Dear friends, naysayers and newcomers:

Our next record will come out 06/06/06 on Abacus Recordings, and No Idea will do the vinyl. Abacus are good eggs and if anyone has a problem with any of this start your own band or eat shit; either way try and have fun with it. Our future's so bright we gotta wear shades. See you in June."

Century Media Records have set November 15th as the release date for SHADOWS FALL's The Art of Touring DVD, their first ever DVD release. The Art of Touring features over two hours of on-the-road antics and live performances filmed from 2002 through 2004 on The Art of Balance album touring cycle while on the road in the US, Europe and Japan. Also featured here are all six of the band's promotional videos to date from "Thoughts Without Words" to "Idiot Box" to "Inspiration On Demand." Several guest appearances, rare cover songs and a special tribute to Darrell Dimebag Abbott (filmed during Shadows Fall's tour with Damageplan in the Fall of 2004) round out the DVD.

Brian Fair (vocals) will also be this week's Headbangers Ball special host on Saturday, Oct. 1st interviewing Underoath, so be sure to tune in to MTV2 at 10PM EST/7PM PST.

SHADOWS FALL annihilated thousands of people every night on the main stage at this year's Ozzfest with their highly energetic and captivating live performances. Their stunning blend of hard rock and thrash metal was welcomed by the masses with open arms. The group's latest album, The War Within, originally debuted at #20 on the Billboard Top 200 chart and it is quickly approaching 250,000 units scanned in just under a year's time led by the strength of the Active Rock hits "What Drives The Weak" and "Inspiration On Demand." The album garnered accolades in such mainstream publications as Billboard, Blender and Giant, among others while SHADOWS FALL were also hailed as a "Band To Watch In 2005" by Rolling Stone, Spin and Stuff magazine.

  • CAPRICORNS Full Length

Thee monolithic cavemen of instru-prog metal have completed work on their debut full-length album, ‘Ruder Forms Survive’. Recorded in a former GDR radio broadcast centre in Berlin, Ruder Forms Survive sees Capricorns up the sonic ante whilst still maintaining a deep love for the purity and tradition of The Riff.

It’s an unfathomable Armageddonesque combination of Amebix punk attitude crossed with a doomed out, Ummagumma era Pink Floyd, propelled by deepest swing this side of John Bonham. Trendy specky instro-nerds bail out of town – now!

  • SEPULTURA Reunion?

SOULFLY mainman Max Cavalera has told Scoop of the Columbus, Ohio radio station The Blitz WBZX 99.7 FM that he is open to the possibility of one day reuniting with his SEPULTURA bandmates. Cavalera left SEPULTURA in early 1997 following the other bandmembers' decision to fire the group's manager, Gloria Cavalera, who is married to Max and continues to represent him through her Oasis Management company. In an interview that will air Sunday night (October 2) at 11:00 p.m. during "The Really Loud Guitar Show" on The Blitz WBZX 99.7 FM, Max said, "[I'm] looking forward to one day actually, eventually touring together [with SEPULTURA], or just doing some shows together. I was on tour with [BLACK] SABBATH [a few] months ago in Europe. They hated each other at one point, and now they're playing together [again]. And that was, for me, very cool, very kind of like... Yeah, there is a chance here, it's not all over. So maybe it [the reunion] will happen. I don't know. I'm not thinking about that. I've got... SOULFLY's really in full motion right now with the new record and everything. But eventually if that happens, it will be cool for me, it will be cool for thousands of fans, so, you know, let's see what happens, you know what I'm saying?!"

  • SPITFIRE inks new deal with Goodfellow Records

Goodfellow Records is thrilled to announce the signing of Virginia metalcore quintet SPITFIRE to a new two album deal. The band, who recorded a CDEP for Goodfellow in 2001, is currently working on a new upcoming full-length album. It will be their first new release in four years.

"We couldn't be happier to have Spitfire as an addition to our lovely family of bands," says Goodfellow label owner Chris Logan. "2006 couldn't come soon enough, so the world can hear the new chapter in this bands career."

The band is spending the month of September recording at Red Planet studios in Virginia with producer Andreas Magnusson (Black Dahlia Murder, Scarlet). The album, tentatively entitled Self-Help, will be released in early 2006.

    The Slideshow Whiplash
    Goodfellow Records

One of the most intense, insane and bordering on out of control records to maybe ever be released. This defines genres and is leaps and bounds beyond bands like Converge and Dillinger Escape Plan.

    SPITFIRE to date:

Virginia's SPITFIRE issued several releases themselves and contributed to a number of compilation discs before jumping to Solid State Records (Underoath, Zao, Norma Jean), the aggressive music imprint label of Tooth and Nail Records (Further Seems Forever, MxPx). The band, then a trio, released The Dead Next Door, its only full-length for Solid State, in 1999. Following their stint on the label, Spitfire would regroup as a quartet, while issuing a CDEP on Goodfellow Records, The Sideshow Whiplash, in 2001. After months of rumors, the band broke up in late 2001, with several members moving on to other projects.

The band has recently reformed, adding guitarist Scottie Henry from the metal outfit Norma Jean and Dan Tulloh from the shock rocking Scarlet. Musically, SPITFIRE plays a hybrid of metal and hardcore that is comparable to bands such as Every Time I Die, The Melvins, and even Deadguy as well as the speedy punk rock of Hot Snakes. Fans of frantic, chaotic, technical metalcore should check out this underrated and under-appreciated band when their new album, currently entitled Self-Help, is released in early 2006.

Swedish Rock innovators OPETH have arrived on the world stage in a major way. Their new album, GHOST REVERIES, sold 15,000 copies in it's first week, tripling the band's best-ever first week sales to date, and placing the record at #1 on the Billboard Current Hard Music Chart, #8 on the Top Hard Music Chart and #64 on the Top 200 Albums Chart for the week. The video for the first single from the album, "The Grand Conjuration," can currently be seen on MTV2's Headbangers Ball and on Fuse.

An album that Kerrang calls "baffling, utterly hypnotic and quite, quite brilliant" GHOST REVERIES finds itself in strange company, sharing the chart with the likes of Lifehouse, The Eagles, and Guns N' Roses. But as the sales of bands like The Mars Volta, System Of A Down, and Queens Of The Stone Age can attest, the audience for groundbreaking, interesting music grows over time so Opeth's path is well laid out.

In support of the new album, the band is set to embark on the North American leg of the GHOST REVERIES World Tour. The outing begins on October 9th in Phoenix, Arizona and will run through North America through mid-November 2005. Supporting the band directly on this run will be Pelican (through Oct 22nd) then Nevermore (beginning the 24th). Openers Fireball Ministry (through Oct 30) then Into Eternity (beginning the 31st) have recently been added to the bill.

This week's International chart debuts for GHOST REVERIES were equally exciting...

Netherlands 'Scherpe Rand van Platenland' charts - #1
    Swedish charts - #4.
    Finnish charts - #11.
    Norwegian charts - #21
    Australian charts - #35
    Dutch charts - #38.
    German charts - #39.
    United Kingdom charts - #62.
    French charts - #72.
    Danish charts - #84.

With notoriously lengthy songs (many surpassing the 8-minute mark) the band are just hitting their stride after about 30 minutes playing music, about the length of their sets on the summer of 2005's SOUNDS OF THE UNDERGROUND tour. "After only being able to play 3 or 4 songs on SOUNDS OF THE UNDERGROUND, it will be great to have the freedom to do a 90-minute set encompassing our wide repertoire," says vocalist Mikael Akerfeldt of the band's extended stage time on this outing.

Kerrang! has praised GHOST REVERIES as "The best album that anyone will produce this year," and The Aquarian Weekly agrees saying it has "decimated any competition (for best metal release of the year)." Critics all over the world are celebrating OPETH's ability to weave an intricate sonic web unlike any on the rock scene today. Witness the 'conjuration' for yourself!

After conquering over 40 cities and towns in as many days, Thor The Mighty Rock Warrior was struck down by an unimaginably powerful bolt of lightning!

This unthinkable event took place in Portland where he was performing for dazzled audiences. As he placed the steel bar to his lips in order to bend it in half with his muscular arms lightning split the sky and struck him down. He managed to finish the show, but immediately afterwards was rushed into the care of Venus (nurse to the Gods). Due to these unforseen circumstances Thor was forced to cancel the remaining dates on the tour.

He is quite fully recovered now and plans to tour again this winter. Look for dates soon!

THOR was on the cover of the following publications which all ran features on the man, the myth - The Mighty Rock Warrior!

  • ARSIS complete work on their brand new MCD, A Diamond For Disease

Hot on the heels from their critically acclaimed debut, A Celebration of Guilt, the unstoppable ARSIS continue to fry minds and melt frets with their brand new 3-song EP, A Diamond for Disease. Featuring the 13-minute title track, originally composed as a score for NYC's Ballet Deviare, A Diamond for Disease is an ultimate magnum opus of epic melodic death metal that explores layer upon layer of romantic lead guitar, that effortlessly manages to swim and dart between spidery mazes of mutating rhythms that recall the very best of ...And Justice For All and Heartwork. This is by far the band's most advanced material to date, as it was written from a standpoint of orchestral-like complexity, and as such, embraces a painstaking degree of detail in both harmony arrangement and melodic counterpoint. Look no further&A Diamond for Disease is an absolute swirling vortex of symphonic riff-o-rama destined to be 2005's most powerful sonic orgasm. A Diamond For Disease was recorded with Eyal Levi (Misery Index) at Hairy Breakfast Productions and mastered by James Murphy (Death, Testament, Disincarnate). The artwork and layout was created by the talented Mark Riddick.

ARSIS will perform LIVE with Ballet Deviare January 6th - 8th at 59E59 THEATERS in New York City. Please see http://www.balletdeviare.org/ for more information about this special performance.

Didn't get enough of DEW-SCENTED on Issue VI's 45 minutes and 55 seconds? True, the prospect of this German band playing their pure-bred, aggressive, unpredicatably volatile, and pummelling thrash metal in a live setting is a fearsome one, but fears are meant to be conquered!

Among the most bludgeoning bands spawned from the interstitial areas where the genres of savage thrash and vile death metal meet, DEW-SCENTED are not simply a musical riot of broken bones. Capturing the frenzy of the music they were raised on, DEW-SCENTED play with enough genuine ferocity to engage even the shortest attention span - and induce instant adrenaline addiction.

States vocalist Leif Jensen: "DEW-SCENTED are like some kind of wild animal. On our recordings, we're caged; there's still aggresssion there, but it's contained, it's safe. What people really want to see is for that animal to be let loose. That's when DEW-SCENTED really come alive - when we play live."

Take a good look into the future of the New School of Thrash with DEW-SCENTED and deliver yourself into their hellfire.

Having just wrapped a successful five-week nationwide trek alongside CKY, the Los Angeles-based hard rock quartet FIREBALL MINISTRY are now set for a month-long tour with Opeth, Pelican and Nevermore beginning October 9 in Phoenix. In November, the band--whose new offering THEIR ROCK IS NOT OUR ROCK (Liquor and Poker Music) is due out October 18--will rejoin CKY for the second leg of the "Rock Adio" tour sponsored by Adio footwear. In addition, FIREBALL MINISTRY will open for the legendary Judas Priest on Friday, September 23 in Mount Pleasant, MI.

For THEIR ROCK IS NOT OUR ROCK -- the follow-up to FIREBALL MINISTRY's critically acclaimed The Second Great Awakening (2003)-- the band reteamed with producer Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, Velvet Revolver). Recorded at Dave Grohl's Studio 606 West and the late Elliott Smith's New Monkey Studios, THEIR ROCK IS NOT OUR ROCK showcases the definitive FIREBALL MINISTRY sound which LA Weekly described as "timeless hard rock excellence...magnificently heavy." Album highlights include the rhythmically menacing opener "It Flies Again," and other hypnotic tracks like "In The End" and "The Broken."

FIREBALL MINISTRY -- JAMES A. ROTA II (vocalist/guitarist), EMILY J. BURTON (guitarist), JOHN ORESHNICK (drums) and new bassist JOHNY CHOW (ex-Systematic) -- recently shot a video for their first single - Sundown, a thunderous rocker currently buzzing at radio. Directed by Brandon Trost (Josh Todd, Old 97's) and described by frontman ROTA as "being in the true vein of a classic rock video and not to be taken ironically," the video will premiere on both MTV2 and Fuse in October.

Now, back with a new sound and logo, Restless returns to its roots with the Maiden salute, as well as an upcoming reissue from California punk outfit 45 Grave. Metal Manics

Get ready for one of the most brutal tours of the fall! Orange County Haymakers, Throwdown will embark on a national tour with metal heroes Soulfly. This is a perfect match as Throwdown, who were proclaimed the "future of metal" by Revolver were inspired by Soulfly vocalist, Max Cavalera and his work with legendary metal group, Sepultura (Throwdown even covered Sepultura's "Roots Bloody Roots" in their live set). This tour is the latest in a long string of impressive road time put in by Throwdown, who spent the summer among the featured artists on The Sounds Of The Underground tour alongside Lamb Of God, Gwar and Every Time I Die. Tours preceding the summer saw the band as direct support for Lamb Of God in the US and Europe as well as on the road with Norma Jean and As I Lay Dying. Throwdown released their latest full-length, Vendetta in late June which has already scanned an impressive 30,000 + albums. The new album has been heralded by critics and fans alike for its wrecking ball sized pit anthems and hardcore hostility. Vocalist, Dave Peters commands with his monster truck sized timber and venomous verbals. Many have seen Throwdown arrive into heavy music as the natural link between metal like Pantera and hardcore such as Agnostic Front.

Unlike those previously mentioned bands, Throwdown are straight edge, which means that they abstain from drugs and alcohol. The band also makes time in their daily schedule for exercise, even bringing weights with them on tour. This healthy lifestyle helps Throwdown to dominate and destroy any time they take the stage, even during Ozzfest 04, where the band were required to play as early as 9:00am in 90 degree heat. The group, which includes Peters, Dom Macaluso (bass), Matt Mentley (guitar) and new drummer, Ben Dussault (who was the original vocalist for A Simple Plan) turn shows into a full contact event, replete with acrobatic spins and mid-air leaps.

Among those who are taking notice is MTV who will have the band as featured guests on Headbangers Ball for the second time as well as Fuse TV who will have the band on their Metal Asylum program (Throwdown have previously been featured on Fuse's, Uranium program) .

Nick Weitzel, a friend of the band, will be filling in on bass guitar for the Exodus tour. Crisis will hold auditions for a permanent bass player position starting in November.

We are looking for an aggressive player who can perform with a live intensity as well as be a creative force in our improvisational style of songwriting. We prefer a player that uses a pick unless you think you are the next Cliff Burton. SERIOUS CANDIDATES ONLY!

  • STAGGERWIGG’s debut album, “Before We Drown,” will be released in late October.

The lyrics, written by David Blanche, are an invitation into the mind of one who has experienced life to the fullest, sometimes too far for most peoples’ taste. He is not afraid to lay open his passions and beliefs, as well as his shortcomings, for all to hear.

“As time goes by, I realized what does it for me, why I’m pursuing this,” said Blanche. “What makes me spend so much time being isolated and away from my family? Writing just gets me there. While we were recording, there were some concerns with the lyrics to ‘Questionmark’ and me voicing my thoughts on organized religion and politics. No matter what I write, people are going to perceive my words the way they want to. It’s as if they put the words through a filter inside their head and it comes out adjusted for their own life and meaning. It’s only my opinion, and in the grand scheme of things, I’m just not that important.”

As of today, things have never been better. Staggerwigg is evolving together as a band, writing, and having a blast. They know the music and the "movement" will last eternal. This is not recycled punk rock; it is filled with attitude and passion. Sex and drugs and rock ‘n’ roll!
