- MTV2 KICKS OFF THE FIRST OFFICIAL HEADBANGERS'S BALL TOUR FEATURING
KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, LAMB OF GOD & SHADOWS FALL BEGINNING OCTOBER
28th IN MONTREAL, CANADA
New York, NY (September 23, 2003) “Set to take some of the most
earth shattering, deafening, and truly heavy metal music to the streets,
MTV2, the 24 hour music network, today announced the first-ever MTV2
Headbangers Ball Tour. Set to kick-off October 28th in Montreal, Canada,
the trek will feature live performances by heavy metal heavyweights
including Roadrunner Records Recording artist Killswitch Engage, Prosthetic
Records Recording artist who have just signed to Epic - Lamb Of God
and Century Media's very own Shadows Fall, who will all rotate and co-headline
this year's tour. Featured opening act for the first leg of the tour
will be Eulogy Recordings' Unearth and for the second leg of the tour,
Century Media's God Forbid.
All three headlining acts of the tour are also featured on the first-ever
MTV2 Headbangers Ball CD set for release October 7th. Announced earlier
this month by MTV2 and Roadrunner Records, the double-disc album will
include 40 tracks from the best of metal's established bands, and its
most powerful up-and-comers. Just some of the artists featured on the
album include Slayer, Hatebreed, Chimaira, Eighteen Visions and more.
The album and tour follow the on-air return of the Headbangers Ball
earlier this summer with its premiere on MTV2. Highlighting the best
classic and new metal videos, interviews with hard rock artists, and
showcasing a new breed of metal talent, the new Headbangers Ball series
is inspiring the next generation of headbanging fans. Hosted by Jamey
Jasta of Hatebreed, MTV's Headbanger's Ball can be seen every Saturday
night at 10 pm EST and 7 pm PCT.
With some of the most loyal and diehard followers in all of music, the
return of Headbangers Ball once again gives hard rock and metal fans
a place that is all their own, said Joe Armenia, VP of Music Marketing
and Promotions for MTV & MTV2. And with the show's new home on MTV2,
we wanted to take it one step further by bringing some of the best metal
bands seen on the show every week such as Killswitch Engage, Shadows
Fall and Lamb Of God straight to the fans for an unforgettable live
concert experience.
Bands and fans alike are crazed anxiously awaiting the launch of the
MTV2 Headbangers Ball Tour. "This tour will easily be one of the
best tours Killswitch has ever done. And having Headbangers Ball involved,
a show we all grew up watching is icing on the cake. I know us and Shadows
Fall are looking forward to playing a full set - not just 20 minutes
- for all the kids we saw at Ozzfest. And it's always fun to watch Lamb
of God play. So be prepared!!" -- Howard Jones, Killswitch Engage.
The real deal Lamb Of God drummer Chris Adler says: "We're very
excited about unleashing the monster that is Lamb of God onto the U.S.
and with the help of our friends in Shadows Fall, Killswitch Engage,
God Forbid and Unearth, this will prove to be the metal concert event
of the year. Headbangers Ball is finally back and with it comes the
first and only real metal tour of 2003. Take note, top to bottom, this
is how it's done."
"With music so extreme there is always an element of surprise and
risk. I am not sure if my liver or my neck muscles are prepared, but
I am definitely willing to risk serious physical damage and potential
rehab to be a part of this year's MTV2 Headbangers Ball Tour. We couldn't
be more excited about rejoining our great friends in Lamb Of God and
Killswitch Engage. And now, maybe Randy of Lamb Of God and I can finally
finish our drinking contest that began about three years ago. Be prepared,
there's a steamroller heading your way. -- Brian Fair, Shadows Fall.Dates

- W.A.S.P. Planning Major 2-Part Conceptual Album for 2004
Enigmatic rock act W.A.S.P. has resurfaced after a near-year of silence
to announce the first details of its highly-anticipated dual album releases,
slated for 2004 through Metal-Is/Sanctuary Records. Although early reports
suggested that the new albums were to be released this October, the
complexity of the as-yet-untitled project did not adhere to the original
plan.
Once again recorded at frontman/composer Blackie Lawless’s Fort
Apache Studios in Malibu, CA, and co-helmed by renowned producer Bill
Metoyer, the album will be released in two parts. The first is scheduled
for mid-February 2004, and the second, which continues the story of
the first, is anticipated for an early May release.
Although the concept of the story is extremely complex & detailed,
the poignant plotline expresses notions of lost innocence and the black
undercurrent of mass media. Blackie states that the title of this work
is not confirmed to be The Neon God, although the perplexing theme is
integral to the plot.
The band’s lineup for the new albums remains Blackie Lawless on
vocals & guitar, Frankie Banali on drums, Mike Duda on bass, and
Darrell Roberts on lead guitar. This outing will also feature major
orchestration as enhancement & depth to the subject matter.
In addition to a massive multi-legged world tour in the coming year,
W.A.S.P. is anticipating releasing an in-depth ‘making of’
DVD later in 2004. The upcoming new albums are also planned to have
massive multimedia tie-ins.

is going really well, I have regained much of the mobility in the arm

inside, but the grim outlook the doctor gave me last time seems to have
been a worst-case scenario, just like I hoped. The jury's still out
on the pain, though, as it still hurts a bit. I see the physiotherapist

- Drummer Randy Black (ANNIHILATOR, ex-REBELLION), who was recently
named PRIMAL FEAR's new skinsman following the departure of Klaus Sperling,
has issued the following statement to PRIMAL FEAR fans:
"First and foremost, I'd like to say I'm really looking forward
to playing, recording and touring with PRIMAL FEAR. As you all know,
I did the Metal Gods tour with them so I know that these guys are fun
to work with but it also gave me a chance to experience them when circumstances
were not favorable. I can only say that even in this very stressful
and frustrating situation, they were great, conducting themselves very
professionally and with integrity.
"I'd also like to make one thing clear: I had no intentions of
pushing Klaus out of the band when I filled in for him on the Metal
Gods tour. Klaus is a great guy and I'm sure with his talent will be
successful in his future endeavors.
"I look forward to the future with PRIMAL FEAR and to performing
and meeting the fans on tour. Thanks for the warm welcome I have already
received."

"Having worked together for almost ten years, we have now reached
a point where we find ourselves with differences of opinion that cannot
be bridged, and completely incompatible sets of ideas for the band's
further development," the group said in an official statement.
"The rest of the band will continue working with full force under
the name THEATRE OF TRAGEDY, and sees this as an opportunity for further
musical experimentation and evolution. This also involves finding a
new, permanent, female singer, although not necessarily a replacement
for Liv.
"Let it be said that there is no animosity from the band towards
Liv, and we wish her all the best with her work."

- FOR MY PAIN/ REFLEXION singer Juha Kylmänen will perform as a

month due to a "lack of motivation." The group have since

TO/DIE/FOR's most recent CD, Jaded, was released in March through Nuclear
Blast. The follow-up to 2001's Epilogue featured guest vocals by former
SINERGY and current NIGHTWISH bassist/vocalist Marco Hietala.

Sadisitic terror squad Deathwitch have puked up details of their forthcoming

a particularly feral brand of sonic barbarity. Deathwitch follow this
loose, slop n' roll approach but actually manage to deliver the riffs
on which all great Death Metal is based. If you like your DM with the
rotting stench of the grave as standard - step aboard. The full tracklisting

- Local rock band GATLIN finish new demo, get retired from National
radio and retain Serling, Rooks and Ferrara as Law Firm
New demo recorded with Producer and former Toadies guitarist Darrel
Herbert and retain Barry Jay Reiss from Serling, Rooks and Ferrara as
Attorney.
September 20, 2003
Cleveland, OH – Today, Hardcore Marketing, Inc. (www.hardcoremarketing.com)
announced the completion of Cleveland local rock act Gatlin’s
(www.gatlin316.net)
new 5-song demo and the hiring of Attorney Barry Jay Reiss of Counsel
at Serling, Rooks and Ferrara.
“We took our time with this demo.” stated Jon Drake, the
lead singer of Gatlin. “We showcased for several labels in New
York last year and most of them were impressed with our story in Cleveland
but wanted more ‘hit quality’ and radio friendly singles.
So we took our time, found a Producer that! knew exactly what we wanted
and wrote and wrote and wrote.” Patrick Ols, guitarist, said,
“Most of the labels that showed interest after the showcases liked
our song ‘Reflection’. That was cool to hear since that
is the type of song we tend to write these days and like to write. We
had a more metal and less commercial sound in years previous so this
solidified our thoughts in the direction we wanted to go and the direction
in which the labels wanted to see us go.”
The new 5-song demo includes the new songs “Going Under”,
“Disarray”, “Unreal” and the re-recorded songs
“Undivided” and “Reflection”.
“During this demo ‘Reflection’ was put on the Xtreme
Cage Match (92.3FM) and won all five nights which made us believe that
our writing style with ‘Reflection’ was dead-on.”
stated Don Debiase, guitarist. “When we heard that ‘Reflection’
was retired and we were the only local to be retired it just fueled
us even more. We were ecstatic and then found out they wanted to put
the song into rotation and they spiked it in charting in the Top Ten
out of the entire playlist. It was a great feeling to know what we had
written and what we were currently writing was beating 90% of National
bands. We knew we had the stuff and we couldn’t wait for those
labels that had shown interest before ! hear the new stuff. I think
we all believe this new demo is the deal maker.”
Gatlin (www.gatlin316.net)

- SIX FEET UNDER Announces The Unnatural Born Killers Tour 2003
with Openers Skinless, Behemoth, and The Black Dahlia Murder
Tour Sponsored By Brave Words & Bloody Knuckles Magazine
and XM Radio: Liquid Metal
Bringer Of Blood In Stores September 23rd!
September 23rd will see the release of Tampa-based SIX FEET UNDER’s
most ambitious release to date, the ferocious Bringer Of Blood (through
Metal Blade Records). The disc, rampant with an infectious blend of
jackhammer grooves and pure aggressive immensity, fuses the band’s
attraction to dark fantasy as well as significant social commentary.
SIX FEET UNDER is never more potent than in the live setting. Veteran
of the Warped Tour, and sharing the stage with everyone as diverse as
nearly every extreme metal band on the planet to Disturbed and Danzig,
the band is now is primed to bludgeon North America as headliner of
The Unnatural Born Killers Tour 2003, with menacing openers Skinless,
Behemoth, and The Black Dahlia Murder. The tour is being sponsored by
Brave Words & Bloody Knuckles Magazine and XM Satellite Radio's
Liquid Metal program (which is giving away two pairs of tickets for
each show).
Recorded at the renowned Morrisound Studios in Florida and produced
(as were all previous SIX FEET UNDER releases) by Chris Barnes himself,
Bringer Of Blood features a free DVD supplement containing interviews
with the band, a documentary about the band & the metal scene ("Six
Feet Underground" - which made its screening debut recently at
the Chicago Independent Film Festival) filmed by underground film maker
Deron Grams, and an extensive photo gallery.
The first video clip from Bringer of Blood, the social commentary-intense
“Amerika The Brutal” has debuted on MTV2’s Headbangers
Ball program, and radio support is quickly following. Vocalist Chris
Barnes acknowledges his excitement about the add, “I’m really
proud that MTV picked this one up; the video is an honest view about
the state of affairs in the world today. People are being ostracized
in this country for free thought, and putting Freedom Of Speech to the
test at a time when it needs to be; because there's something really
wrong is happening out there, and people need to be made aware of it

- SEVENDUST CONSTRUCTS VIDEO FOR NEW SINGLE, “ENEMY”
** Former X-Force Artist Configures Short Film Around Hit Rock Single
**
** Video Features Former WWE-Star Chyna **
New York, NY, September 18 – Hard rock giants Sevendust are taking
a new direction with the video for their latest hit “Enemy.”
Rather than go the performancebased route of their previous videos,
the band has enlisted director Adam Pollina – former comic artist
for the X-Men spin-off, X-Force -- to configure his underground short
film Romp around the song.
The film is about a young man born without arms, Romp (played by Elliot
Jones) who is trained by a flamboyant midget to fight a local bully
named Lulu (played by former WWE wrestling star Joanie “Chyna”
Laurer.) The film makes use of live action which in spots morphs into
still-animation to exemplify the comic book aspect of the story. Though
Sevendust does not physically appear in the video, they are represented
on posters lining the urban streets as Romp makes his way to the fight
with Lulu.
“It’s really about the first day a superhero decides to
become a superhero,” Pollina recently told Wizard Magazine. “It’s
about how nervous he is and what he goes through in his mind. Lulu is
a huge female bully but he decides to take her on, even if he has no
arms.”
Romp will soon be released in comic book form from Image Comics. A screenplay
is being developed for a feature version of the story.
“Enemy” is one of the hottest rock singles in the country
right now, having been the #1 Most Added track at Rock and Alternative
radio in its first week out. The video will be serviced to MTV, Fuse
and other video outlets in the coming weeks.
Sevendust are currently wrapping up a special acoustic tour, and will
be fully plugged-in for a national run with Staind, kicking off September
27 in Philadelphia.
The band’s fourth album Seasons, which follows their three previous
Gold-certified releases, drops on October 7.

- KMFDM Explodes with WWIII
Album Released September 23rd through Sanctuary Records
Band Launches North American Tour in October
KMFDM, the ardent guardians of the ‘Ultra Heavy Beat’, have
returned with a trend-killing, ravenous, all-out assault called WWIII.
Released on September 23rd via Sanctuary Records, the album opens a
new chapter in the ever-expansive world of KMFDM. On the surface, the
disc may be deemed politically-prophetic (following up 2001’s
Attak); however, KMFDM’s dynamic new vision is both uncompromisingly
disdainful and rapturously seductive.
Spawned in 1984, KMFDM rapidly evolved year-by-year through intense
experimentation and touring; redefining and upgrading themselves with
each progressing release. 2003 sees KMFDM aptly dubbed ‘rock with
a conscience’; a band that breathes as a cohesive unit, yet is
not limited in vision or experience. Fueled by everyday news & events,
the band is frequently known for its revolution-styled lyrics and thematically
extreme social commentary. Says vocalist/keyboardist/bassist/ringleader
Sascha “Kapt’n K” Konietzko explains the band’s
position, “The fears, the vulnerability and the McCarthyism that
slowly creep into the remote corners of one’s brain are all weapons
of mass distraction. This is serious and needs to be opposed and eventually
debunked. But I have to say that we have no interest in making only
intensely serious statements, either. We see art as art, and politics
for what it is. KMFDM's lyrics simply reflect the absurdities that we
all are bombarded with every day.”
Add these intense lyrics to KMFDM’s diverse style, and you get
a glimpse of the band’s true charm – music that is thought-provoking
as well as contusive to dancing…and even headbanging! Alongside
Konietzko are the bludgeoning multi-guitar crunch of Joolz Hodgson &
Steve White, the boisterous percussion work of Andy Selway, the dark,
debaucherous vocal emanations of Raymond “Pig” Watts and
spitfire hellcat vocals of Lucia Cifarelli, whose fervent vocal style
emerges as provocative, evocative, and oft times contemptuous. The tracklisting
for WWIII includes:
WWIII
Stars And Stripes
From Here On Out
Bullets, Bombs, Bigotry
Blackball
Moron
Jihad
Revenge
Last Things
Intro
Pitty
The Pious

- ZAKK WYLDE CO-WRITES WITH ROADRUNNER RECORDING ARTIST “THEORY
OF A DEADMAN”
Famed axe-man Zakk Wylde is set to join Roadrunner recording artist
“Theory of a Deadman”, in Los Angeles, California next week.
Zakk Wylde, famous for his hard-driving guitar playing for Ozzy Osbourne,
and his own band, Black Label Society, is currently charting with his
smash hit single "Stillborn." Zakk has co-written several
hits for Ozzy such as "No More Tears."
The collaboration should prove to be a successful marriage of two talent
styles. Although there is no confirmed release date, for this new material,
we should look forward to hearing a taste of their work late in the
year.
- I know you've been following the drama between Morgan Rose of SEVENDUST
and ex-COAL CHAMBER frontman Dez Fafara. In response to Fafara's just-posted
comments on Roadrunner's website, Morgan Rose has released the following
response:
"If Dez Fafara thinks my comments were out of line and childish,
its interesting that he's calling up my wife crying for forgiveness
while still talking shit on the internet. To set the record straight,
I never had a problem with Coal Chamber, it was always with Dez. No
one in the music industry should be surprised that someone finally stood
up against this guy, his behavior and the way he treats people. The
reason Coal Chamber isn't together anymore is because his band mates
hated him. And I think most people in my shoes would have taken harsher
actions if their wife was treated the way Dez treated Rayna. By the
way, who's writing Dez's press statements for him?"

- Brazilian Metal Stalwarts SEPULTURA Dominate TV & Radio with ROORBACK
Tour Anticipated in October
Cultivating years of experience and touring relentlessly, Brazilian
metal titans SEPULTURA is making monstrous waves with American media
in support of the band’s latest opus Roorback (released through
SPV Records). Combining their trademark tribal-metal stylings with modern
sensibilities, Roorback is an explosive breath of fresh air in the current
musical landscape.
The band’s first video single from the album, “Bullet the
Blue Sky” (a cover version of the classic U2 song), debuts this
weekend on MTV’s Headbangers Ball (Saturday, September 13th at
10pm Eastern) and is already in rotation on other video outlets. MTV
Latin America will debut it shortly. “Bullet the Blue Sky”
is currently streaming on the Internet here: http://www.spvusa.com/btbs.ram
Radio had a meltdown this week, as Roorback erupted on the charts, making
more massive jumps on the various panels than any other artist. The
album leapt from 16 to 7 with a bullet at FMQB (181 spins), 28 to 3
with a bullet on CMJ Loud Rock, 33 to 8 on CMJ Crucial Spins (181 Spins),
and is #6 on the R&R chart.
Press has been just as receptive towards the band & their revolutionary
new album:
“…the heaviest stuff they’ve done since Beneath The
Remains” ~ Edge Magazine (NC)
“…a new label, tighter sound and stronger band structure…”
~ Blistering Entertainment
“…the best band around at showcasing the type of intensely
diverse brutality which can make both venues shake as well as minds
think.” ~ KNAC
“...more profound, revolutionary, and prevalent than ever.”
~ SLUG Magazine
The proverbial sky is the limit for SEPULTURA in 2003, and the band
will not rest until all have witnessed the power and strength of the
band. Having just returned home from their first-ever South African
tour, a no-holds barred North American tour is in the planning stages
for October. Expect to be blown away.

- MORBID ANGEL PREPARE FOR THE BLACKEST OF THE BLACK TOUR
Morbid Angel has been added to The Blackest Of The Black Tour, with
Danzig, Superjoint Ritual, and more of the most important bands in heavy
music. Conceived by Danzig frontman Glenn Danzig, The Blackest Of The
Black Tour kicks off in Fall 2003 and promises to be the biggest, most
extreme metal tour of the year. Stay tuned for tourdates and more info.

extensive worldwide touring in support of their new album, "Heretic",

- AKERCOCKE PREPARE TO UNLEASH 'CHORONZON'
UK gentlemen Akercocke are preparing to release their debut Earache
opus 'Choronzon' on November 4 in the US.
The most theatrical, eccentric, and extreme UK metal band since Cradle
Of Filth, Akercocke are the dangerously clever leaders of the new school
of occult-inspired metal, carrying on a tradition started long ago by
Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath. Looking more like polished English gentry
than depraved English metalheads, Akercocke forego the usual denim and
leather, in favor of tweeds and neckties... but don't be deceived! Fans
of Bauhaus and Rush as well as Emperor and Suffocation, Akercocke fuse
black metal, death metal, gothic metal, and rock into throroughly Satanic,
thoroughly British hymns of desecration. With a crystalline production
job and cover art by revered UK rock photograper Fin Costello (Ozzy
Osbourne, Bauhaus, Aerosmith), Akercocke's Earache debut, 'Choronzon',
is the album that will put the UK back on the extreme metal map.
Tracklisting:
01) Praise the Name of Satan
02) Prince of the North
03) Leviathan
04) Enraptured by Evil
05) Choronzon
06) Valley of the Crucified

a mammoth September tour of their homeland as part of a double-header

with a thick guitar sound. Among the titles set for inclusion are 'The
Negation', 'Long Desired Dementia', 'Three-Dimensional Defect', 'The
Fury' and 'Sensual Sickness.'
A release is pencilled in for February 2004.
- Twisted Sister Vocalist Dee Snider Creates
VAN HELSING'S CURSE: A Soundtrack For Halloween
Musical Ghost Story Concept Album OCULUS INFERNUM
Set For October 7, 2003 Release on KOCH RECORDS
Future Plans Include Annual Live Performances
Halloween is one of the most widely celebrated holidays of the year.
In fact, Americans spent $6.9 billion on Halloween in 2002, making it
the country's second largest commercial holiday. While celebrated with
costume parties, trick-or-treating and horror movie marathons, the holiday
has never gotten its due in terms of popular music. Suffering the slings
and arrows of silly novelty singles and spooky sound effects albums,
Halloween has lacked any serious, thematic, mainstream musical work
of substance. Until now. Van Helsing's Curse presents Oculus Infernum,
a musical ghost story destined to be the soundtrack for Halloween.
Dee Snider, best known as the lead vocalist of the heavy metal band
Twisted Sister, is the creative force behind a new Halloween-themed
musical project called Van Helsing's Curse set to debut October 7, 2003
with the musical ghost story concept album Oculus Infernum on KOCH Records.
Snider, a lifelong fan of horror, first made a foray into the genre
with the successful cult film StrangeLand and its accompanying soundtrack,
which also marked the singer's first foray into Billboard's Soundtrack
chart.
"Van Helsing's Curse is not a band, it's a rock orchestra. It includes
a five-piece rock group, a six-piece string section and a six-piece
choir. The choir only sings chants in Latin. There are no lead vocals
on Oculus Infernum, just narration," Snider says.
The tracks on Oculus Infernum include "Patience," "Tubular
Hell," "All Fall Down," "Let Me Prey," "The
Child," "The Tortured Soul," "Revenge," "War,"
"Let the Pain Begin" and "The Curse."
Snider created the concept and storyline and provides the narration
for Oculus Infernum, which is Latin for "eye of hell." Oculus
Infernum tells a complete story about an evil entity that descends upon
a town and kills all the adults. A now-orphaned boy seeks retribution
and teams up with an old man who is the direct descendant of vampire
hunter Van Helsing (from Bram Stoker's original Dracula novel) in order
to fight the entity. Snider's vision ultimately provides a disturbing
look at the nature of evil, which is summed up in a soliloquy at the
finale of Oculus Infernum.
Musically speaking, Oculus Infernum is just as spine-chilling as the
story. Original compositions are woven among classical music pieces
and selected bits from familiar songs such as Mike Oldfield's haunting
"Tubular Bells" and Black Sabbath's shocking "Black Sabbath."
For example, the single "Tubular Hell" includes melodic bits
of "Tubular Bells," original sections, and themes from classics,
like "Hall of the Mountain King." The swirling blend of fierce
and creepy music, Latin chants and Snider's dramatic narration on Oculus
Infernum results in an overwhelming listening experience.
Snider has a list of goals for Van Helsing's Curse. He envisions people
making Van Helsing's Curse and 'Oculus Infernum' part of their Halloween
experience. Annual October tours by Van Helsing's Curse will encourage
audience participation such as dressing up in costume when attending
the concerts. "Ultimately, Van Helsing's Curse will be a full-scale
touring entity complete with spectacular special effects. It will be
the sound and vision of Halloween. A thrilling horror experience,"
says Snider. "The rock musicians will be dressed in a goth style
like Marilyn Manson-meets-Edward Scissorhands, the string section will
be dressed as (Interview With the Vampire author) Anne Rice-style goths
and the choir will be dressed in robes to look like Druids."
This just scratches the surface of Snider's overall vision for the future
of Van Helsing's Curse. Expect Van Helsing's Curse and Oculus Infernum
to become Halloween institutions.
Says Snider, "The idea is for Van Helsing's Curse to be the soundtrack
for Halloween."
