Heavy metal icons Judas Priest will release the new live DVD 'Rising In the East' on November 15, 2005, via Rhino Home Video.

Vocalist Rob Halford, lead guitarists Glenn Tipton and K.K. Downing, bass guitarist Ian Hill and drummer Scott Travis filmed 'Rising In The East' in May 2005 at the legendary Budokan in Tokyo, Japan. The definitive Judas Priest lineup played two sold-out nights at the venue to promote the early-2005 release of the critically acclaimed studio album 'Angel Of Retribution,' their first new material in 15 years. 'Rising In The East' is Judas Priest's first straight-to-DVD release.

"We talked about doing a DVD on this tour and we decided to do it at the Budokan because it's a special venue. It's world-renowned. We thought it was an ideal choice," says Tipton. "We filmed both nights but we ended up using the second night only for this DVD. We wanted it to be as live and as real as possible, and when you start taking from different shows there isn't continuity. We wanted it to be one show and that's exactly what it is."

"I think what 'Rising In The East' displays to Priest fans is the first time seeing us reunited for a full-length show in the DVD format," Halford says. "I think the DVD compounds all the great things that Priest fans and metal fans all around the world love about the band. Priest is still a powerful, physical, full-on experience in the live domain. What this DVD is intended to do is give longtime Priest fans another great memory to add to their collection, and it's also an opportunity for new Priest fans to explore all the great things we're achieving three decades later."

'Rising In The East' is bursting with Judas Priest classics from albums such as 'Sad Wings Of Destiny,' 'Sin After Sin,' 'Stained Class,' 'Hell Bent For Leather,' 'British Steel,' 'Point Of Entry,' 'Screaming For Vengeance,' 'Turbo,' 'Ram It Down' and 'Painkiller' as well as 'Angel Of Retribution' standouts.

The track listing includes: "The Hellion/Electric Eye," "Metal Gods," "Riding On The Wind," "The Ripper," "A Touch Of Evil," "Judas Rising," "Revolution," "Hot Rockin'," "Breaking The Law," "I'm A Rocker," "Diamonds And Rust," "Worth Fighting For," "Deal With The Devil," "Beyond The Realms Of Death," "Turbo Lover," "Hellrider," "Victim Of Changes," "Exciter," "Painkiller," "Hell Bent For Leather," "Living After Midnight" and "You've Got Another Thing Comin'."

"This set list is a great cross-section of the Priest catalog. It runs the full spectrum of musical content," Tipton says. "We used to only play two or three songs from a new album on tour, but for 'Angel Of Retribution' we've played five or six songs from it during the time we've been out, which is a lot. That shows how good the album is and how well-received it has been. It's been very rewarding to see the positive reaction to the new material."

"The DVD is a full two-hour display of highlights from Priest's career over the last three decades," Halford says. "We take you on a metal journey from 'Sad Wings Of Destiny' right up to 'Angel Of Retribution.' Between those two points in time, 'Rising In The East' includes music that is significant to us and to our fans. In that respect, this DVD is quite unique."

The audio, which was mixed by longtime Judas Priest producer Tom Allom, is presented in 5.1 Surround Sound.

"Tom's never totally been away. We've always kept in touch with him. He's a good friend and we worked with him for many, many years," Tipton says. "On the live aspect, Tom is the ideal man. He knows the band inside out. He knows what we like, and he's got a great set of ears."

"He is a significant figure in the history of Judas Priest," Halford says. "He's made the same metal journey as we have. We were waiting for an opportunity to work together with him again. There's a built-in feeling of security because Tom knows us so well musically. We knew we could hand him a project like this and let him go at it with all the right attributes and complete something that's going to make us happy and make the fans happy."

Japan has been an incredibly important part of Judas Priest's career. The band's first-ever live album, 1979's 'Unleashed In The East (Live In Japan),' was recorded in the "Land of the Rising Sun," so it's only fitting that the eagerly awaited 'Rising In The East' DVD originate from there too.

"Judas Priest was one of the first bands to invade that country with metal," Halford says. "Even though we made the DVD in Japan, it really represents the relationship that Judas Priest has with fans around the world."

Remaining dates on the second North American leg of the 'Angel Of Retribution' tour include:

Friday, October 28th Kelseyville, CA Konocti Harbor Resort & Spa
Saturday, October 29th San Diego, CA San Diego Sports Arena
Sunday, October 30th Long Beach, CA Long Beach Arena

Following the North American trek, Judas Priest will tour Russia and The Baltics in November and December.

  • THE GATHERING - Mandylion Deluxe!

It was ten years ago when THE GATHERING recorded their break-through album "Mandylion" and the European metal scene has never been the same since. Produced by one of the top teams, Siggi Bemm (Woodhouse Studio) & Waldemar Sorychta, who already helped Tiamat, Moonspell and Sentenced to find their sound, "Mandylion" became a blueprint for female fronted gothic metal " but it was only the beginning of a long story. From their rough metal roots, to the atmospheric tunes "Mandylion" had to offer, to dreamy, profound songs on "Nighttime Birds" or "How To Measure A Planet?" to their latest adventures within the progressive/triprock field, the Dutch crew always remained true to themselves while building up a continuously increasing fan base. Time to celebrate the 10th anniversary of "Mandylion" with a special deluxe edition. The double CD set features new artwork, a 16-page booklet with song-by-song linernotes from the band and never seen before photos from the recording session. CD2 contains the first demo recordings THE GATHERING did with Anneke van Giersbergen in June 1994 and early 1995. "Solar Glider" is a complete unreleased instrumental while "Third Chance" appeared 2 years later in a different version on the "Nighttime Birds" album. "Working with THE GATHERING on this album is one of my most beautiful memories. To record with such an open-minded band like them... they'd need three sounds when other bands needed 100, and those three sounds were enough to create a gorgeous atmosphere" , states producer Siggi Bemm and it's this special atmosphere that still stands out 10 years later. The band--Lajon Witherspoon (vocals), John Connolly (guitar), Vince Hornsby (bass), Morgan Rose (drums), Sonny Mayo (guitar)--has been criss-crossing the U.S. for the past few weeks meeting with fans, appearing at listening parties at retail outlets, and participating in a variety of radio station-sponsored charity events. They've been playing poker, paintball and softball, bowling, and riding motorcycles, lending their support to various charities including the American Red Cross' Hurricane Katrina relief fund. To date they've helped raise over $10,000.

Monday, October 24 will be an extremely busy day for the band as they're set to make two national radio appearances. That morning they'll appear live on "The Mancow Show" from the program's Chicago studio starting at 9:00am CT. They'll be performing three songs from NEXT and answering questions from host Mancow. Confirmed stops include New York, Chicago, Miami, with more to be announced in the coming weeks. Before the tour commences, they'll perform on October 22 in Kansas City at the Kansas City International Speedway as part of Slipknot's current trek. They're also confirmed to headline the House of Blues in Orlando, FL on New Year's Eve.

For SEVENDUST, the upcoming tour dates can't come soon enough. "Our number one priority right now is to bring the most massive show possible that we can bring to the people who come to see us," declares guitarist John Connolly. "It's going to be brutal. There's not a moment's break. The live show will definitely be the most intense show we've have ever seen. So be ready. Be ready for sure."

As drummer Morgan Rose continues, "It's God awful to deal with as a band member. It's gut-wrenching. It's the heaviest set that I could ever imagine us doing." And singer Lajon Witherspoon concludes, "I think what we're doing on this next show is bringing it to a different level. Something we've never done before and I hope everyone likes it, but ultimately it's all about the music and that's what I'm really excited about."

For future updates on SEVENDUST's tour schedule and everything else happening in their world, fans could log onto the band's website.

ON DVD AND CD ON NOV 1, 2005

Eagle Rock Entertainment, the leading independent source for high quality music audio/visual programming, will release Testament: Live In London separately on DVD and CD on November 1. Recorded earlier this year on the band's 2005 Reunion Tour, Live in London immortalizes a vicious live performance from the originators of thrash metal whose career spans the past twenty years.

Live In London captures Testament's classic lineup for the first time since 1992: vocalist Chuck Billy, guitarists Alex Skolnick and Eric Peterson, bassist Greg Christian and drummer Louie Clemente pummel through a set of their classics, full of guttural growls, fleet-fingered solos, and double bass drum fusillades that culminate in the dynamic thrash metal epics that the band's diehard fans swear by. Additionally, John Tempesta, longtime drummer for Testament as well as for White Zombie, subs for the first half of the set for the long inactive Clemente.

Not only does Live in London contain an unabridged metal meltdown, it also includes special behind the scenes footage of the band members reflecting on the reunion and the various paths each member has recently pursued. The DVD was filmed by Eagle Eye Productions in high definition and recorded in stereo, 5.1 and digital DTS surround.

Sweden's IN FLAMES have inked a US record deal with Ferret Records. The band's already completed new album, Come Clarity, is scheduled for a February 7, 2006 North American release. The CD will be issued in Europe on February 6, 2006 via Nuclear Blast Records.

The follow-up to 2004's Soundtrack to Your Escape, Come Clarity was mixed at Tonteknik studio in Umea, Sweden and is "the best one we've ever done," according to IN FLAMES guitarist Jesper Stromblad. "It's kind of a mixture between the new stuff and the old stuff," Stromblad told Greece's Metal Temple webzine in a recent interview. "Like the previous two albums were a little bit experimental for us, we changed producers and we changed studios. So we took all the good stuff from the old stuff and the new and we did this album and it's brilliant. It's awesome. ...Musically it's more up tempo, more melodic to show that we have so much more to give and we're really hungry. The best album is yet to come."

    Come Clarity final track listing:

    Take This Life
    Reflect the Storm
    Dead End
    Come Clarity
    Pacing Death's Trail
    Crawl through Knives
    End of Things
    Our Infinite Struggle
    Vanishing Light
Your Bedtime Story Is Scaring Everyone

IN FLAMES recently completed a US tour as one of the main-stage acts at this year's Ozzfest. The band will tour the US for over half of 2006, starting with a headlining tour in January. A video for the album's opening track, Take This Life, is currently in the works. [Source: Blabbermouth.net]

Directed by Lex Hallaby (Mudvayne, Chimaira) the DVD captures the power and passion of Killswitch Engage as they drain every ounce of energy out of the 3000+ capacity crowd, leaving them all begging for more.

Since the release of their sophomore effort for Roadrunner Records The End Of Heartache, in May of 2004, Killswitch Engage has exploded into the mainstream - selling over 375,000 copies of that album, landing the lead single to the film Resident Evil: Apocalypse (which debuted at #1), headlining two highly successful US tours and co-headlining both the inaugural Taste of Chaos Tour and Ozzfest 2005. The album has been called "badass" by Spin Magazine, "stunning" by Rolling Stone and an "immaculate piece of work" by Kerrang! and become the standard - bearer in its genre. The New York Times, Stuff, Alternative Press, Blender all lauded the album, and magazines such as Revolver, Decibel, Metal Maniacs, Guitar One and Skinnie put the band on the cover. Additionally Killswitch Engage played The End of Heartache and Rose of Sharyn on Jimmy Kimmel Live and Last Call with Carson Daly, respectively. Metal Maniacs

  • CIRCLE OF DEAD CHILDREN UNDER FIRE IN KENTUCKY - Recently it came to our attention that there is an epidemic if you will in Kentucky involving one of our bands, CIRCLE OF DEAD CHILDREN. This email was sent to the parents of the community regarding this issue:

"The band Circle of Dead Children has been found on the hard drives of over 3/4 of the students at local private high school Sayre (Lexington, KY). All of the students at this school carry laptops because it is a requirement of the school and with over 1000 students, the amount of infected individuals is appalling. Two days ago, a student was found listening to the band while in math class. The teacher grabs the headphones and is shocked to hear what she hears. Deep, disturbing and crude 'music' that goes beyond any other devil music heard in the past. Obvious, blatant and blunt description of death and destruction of humanity. At the moment, Sayre school is under full investigation by both the PTA and local christian groups. The goal of the investigation is to find the root of this 'digital daemonic virus' called Circle of Dead Children." -School news email to parents Metal Maniacs

Yes, that's right-the Cleveland powerviolence legends are back!

Formed in the early 1990s, Apartment 213 was and is the complete opposite of what music in Cleveland sounded like, combining blast beats and metal riffs with slow, sludgy, down tuned rhythms and barked vocals. Lyrical content ranges from the inner thoughts of serial killers to their actual actions and the depravity of human nature. Apartment 213 took a hiatus in the late 90's and early 2000's but are back with a stripped down line up, but a more brutal attack.

Recording will be taking place in November/December 2005 with the release scheduled for early 2006.

See you there!”

  • The Century Family’s Second Annual Christmas BallS
    Hollywood’s Key Club Dec. 7
Nevermore, Behemoth, Watch Them Die, Manntis

Come one, come all to The Century Family’s Second Annual Christmas BallS! After the resounding success of last year’s jubilantly jam-packed inaugural event, The Century Family’s evil elves are once again preparing a magical metal night. Wednesday, December 7, four outstanding Century Family artists will come together to help us celebrate the end of another triumphant metal year. A massive undertaking, Santa has already selected presents for all tapping Seattle’s Nevermore to headline the celebration. Supporting the band will be Behemoth, Watch Them Die, and Manntis.

Nevermore, who spent the summer performing on the mainstage of Megadeth’s Gigantour, just finished headlining their first European tour supporting This Godless Endeavor. The band joined Opeth’s North American tour Oct. 26 in Chicago, and wrap up the tour in Ft. Lauderdale, FL November 11. The band will then continue performing headlining dates across the Midwest, complete dates can be found here.

Currently conquering North America on Danzig’s Blackest of the Black tour, Polish metal titans Behemoth are on their third North American tour supporting their critically-acclaimed album, Demigod. Heralded as "metal's best live band" by BW&BK, BEHEMOTH have toured with the likes of such heavyweights as King Didamond, Suffocation, Nile, Halford, Opeth, and Superjoint Ritual.

Oakland-based purveyors of violence WATCH THEM DIE are currently on a massive national U.S. tour alongside Exodus, 3 Inches of Blood and Crisis. The group recently unleashed their blistering sophomore offering, Bastard Son, which is a multi-layered exploration of anger, pain, loss and redemption.

The explosive Southern California quintet MANNTIS have an extremely busy fall schedule ahead of them after recently being added to the 10 Years of Brutality Tour alongside Hatebreed, Most Precious Blood, Full Blown Chaos, Gizmachi and If Hope Dies, kicking off on Nov. 1st and running through Nov. 23rd. The group’s highly acclaimed new album, Sleep In Your Grave, produced by Cameron Webb (Danzig, Motorhead, Social Distortion), is now available and goes straight for the jugular with its scorching guitar work and pummeling rhythmic assault.

Following last year’s successful event, the elves have put their heads together to come up with even more fantastically diabolic devilry. Already busy assembling stockings filled with heavy metal trimmings, they are scouring the workshop for musical goodies for all attendees. Santa’s selected outstanding surprises to raffle throughout the night, and one lucky winner will go home with a brand new Schecter guitar.

Tickets for the Christmas BallS are available at The Key Club box office, or at Ticketmaster. Twenty bucks gets you in to witness our rockin’ jingle bells, a price even a Scrooge could love.

The Century Family includes Century Media Records, Nuclear Blast America, and Liquor and Poker Music. "...Ion Dissonance have no choice but to be one of the kings of technical music today." - Exclaim!

"Ion Dissonance' second full length album just might be the most brutal and punishing album of the year." 92/10 - Stereokiller.com

Ion Dissonance' follow-up to their Breathing Is Irrelevant release that still remains one of the most destructive metalcore albums ever, Solace proves they're continually morphing their gut-wrenching tech-metal to higher levels of intensity.
