The band are producing the album themselves, and hope to have the album finished by the end of May and in stores by mid-August. The band has yet to select which songs will appear on the album, but here are a few of the tracks they've recorded so far: 'Everything Dies', 'Everyone I Love Is Dead', 'Summer Snow', 'Get Out Of My Dreams', 'Green Light', 'World Coming Down', 'Don't Be Afraid' and 'Isn't He Strange?' • DAN SWANÖ have started to think about the follow up to "Moontower". This will be a "Crimson" alike thing...one giant track, but this time I promise to index the thing for your ease!! Keyboardsound wise I will look back at the eighties rather than the 70's. If nothing goes wrong I'll keep the guitar and the drumssound similar to the new Nightingale album. A lot of of clean vocals and of course some nasty growls to spice it up...you'll like it!!!! It looks like I will wait a bit with this one. The reformation of UNICORN is top priority in my musical-life. you'll see why!

  • This was taken from Swano's site...
I will start working on the ten year anniversary EDGE OF SANITY CD this autumn. It will contain tons of unreleased material. It is a musical diary of the evolution (devolution??) of the band from November 1989 to as late as possible 1999 (Shit..time flies!!!) You will find everything from remixed demoversions to brand new stuff, maybe one track will feature a duet with me and the new vocalist Robert.

  • I just got done talking to Eric Peterson of TESTAMENT.  He told me that the band is bacially going to hang out for a while then go to europe for promotions. After they come back, they are gonna go on tour in August.  As soon as their dates are set, they will be put up on their site www.testamentlegions.com, they will also be posted on my page as well.

  • This is from the OPETH Mailing list...news about the new album:

This is Mikael here just dropping you guys a line from Fredman studios. The recordings are going great! We are putting down the vocals as you read. So, since you´re all important to us, I thought that you´d be the first to know some more abouth the 4th album.

It will be 7 tracks in total all of which are long, as usual. I reckon the total running time will be just above 60 minutes. Don´t worry, the growls are still there and in full force, but there are also more clean singing than before, and much more advanced and with far more feeling than before. 2 tracks will be in a calmer mood, while the remaining 5 will be the typical hard hitting stuff, with the acoustic interludes.

I must say that this album will probably be our most complete work in terms of arrangements. I know a lot of you guys loved "Morningrise", so do I, as much as I love the other albums. This one will be a cross between all of them but also with some new surprises. And maybe, we have done(in my opinion) our best tracks ever, "Face of Melinda". It´s a jazzy piece with loads of vocals harmonies, fretless bass, brushplayed drums, and more feeling than ever before. Me and Peter listened to it last night, and we couldn´t believe our ears. Fuck, we were totally fucking blown away. I guess this will also be our most perfect album in terms of performance...and the sound!!! Brilliant!!

OK, people, I just wanted to give you a few hints, and maybe spark your interests a bit. And the thing is, I never listen to our albums as the musician, only as the fan Mikael. And I tell you, it´s fucking great!!

    Take it easy
Mikael, and the rest of Opeth

  • Black metal's most prolific band, MARDUK, are set to release their sixth full-length effort (and 10th official release overall), 'Panzer Division Marduk,' in late May. The album is touted as being their fastest, most unrelenting album yet, and after listening to this molten piece of hell, we can tell you it's all true. MARDUK have topped themselves. Recorded in Peter Tagtgren's Abyss Studio, the album clocks in at a short but more-than-sufficient 30 minutes. The track listing is as follows: "Panzer Division Marduk"/"Baptism By Fire"/"Christraping Black Metal"/"Scorched Earth"/"Beast Of Prey"/"Blooddawn"/"502"/"Fistfucking God's Planet" -- MARDUK are preparing a full-scale world tour, which will mark their first US appearances, including the 13th Annual Milwaukee Metalfest in late July. • KATATONIA is now on Peaceville Records.  Certainly not the Welsh lot - this bunch of gothic doom merchants are the guys who brought you the classics "Discouraged Ones" and "Brave Murder Day". Hailing from Sweden, they have already recorded and mixed their fourth album "TONIGHTS DECISION" at Sunlight Studios in Stockholm. The release date is expected around the end of summer. The album features eleven huge tracks and also a guest appearance from Dan Swano on drums.

  • NEUROSIS is planning to announce big tour announcements soon. I will post whatever is up when I find out. They might be touring with Soulfly in July.

  • According to HELLOWEEN's official website, http://www.helloween.org:, the band's upcoming covers album will be called Dream Concert and will be out in September. The following tracks will appear: 'Lay Your Love On Me' (ABBA), 'Space Oddity' (David Bowie), 'Saturdaynight' (HERMAN BROOD), 'Locomotive Breath' (JETHRO TULL), 'Something' (THE BEATLES), 'All My Loving' (THE BEATLES), 'Hocus Pocus' (FOCUS), 'White Room' (CREAM), 'Faith Healer' (ALEX HARVEY), Rat Bat Blue (DEEP PURPLE) and 'Juggernaut' (FRANK MARINO). The idea for the artwork is to have a pumpkin putting a coin in a jukebox. The release date is slated to be early September and the album is being mixed and produced by the band. Hard Radio

  • SEVENDUST are getting a little help from their friend, Deftones' lead singer, Chino Moreno, on Home, the follow-up to their gold debut album. He is currently holed up with the guys at Longview Studios in Boston co-writing and recording a track tentatively titled 'Receptacle'. The band has been recording at Longview with producer Toby Wright (ALICE IN CHAINS/KORN) since the beginning of March. In addition to Chino, Home features a guest appearance by SKUNK ANANSIE frontwoman Skin on a track called 'Licking Cream'. Andy Wallace (NIRVANA/RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE/SLAYER), will mix the album in New York City at the end of May. In the meantime look for Sevendust in a headlining spot on this summer's Vans Warped tour. Home hits record stores on August 24th. Hard Radio

  • KATATONIA have finished recording their fourth full-length album, tentatively titled 'Tonight's Decision.' The album was recorded at Sweden's Sunlight Studios. The band say they're following the sound of 'Discouraged Ones,' but are focusing more on each aspect of the writing. They've revealed that the music will be heavy, dark and bitter with a few more leads and a lot more variation, and will say no more until the album's release later this year. A limited edition CD of Katatonia's unreleased/hard-to-find work will also be issued by Century Media Records later this year. Metal Maniacs

  • Since 1994, the U.K.'s MISANTHROPY RECORDS has brought the likes of Burzum, In The Woods..., Beyond Dawn, Mayhem, Solstice, Primordial, Ved Buens Ende, Monumentum, Arcturus, and many others to stereos worldwide. After months of rumors, the label has finally announced its closing in its ninth and final newsletter. The last three releases will be new albums by Burzum ('Hlidskjalf'), Ain Soph and Dream Into Dust. There's a possibility that the forthcoming Mayhem album, 'A Grand Declaration Of War,' may be released through Misanthropy later in the year. But for now and ever, the label's releases (as well as those on offshoot labels Elfenblut, ALC, and Heroine) will still be available through distributors, shops and mail orders, and "will not go out of print as long as there is a sufficient demand for them--the label however will cease to be productive and will not be working on any new projects." (Mail orders will be taken until July 15th, 1999.) Misanthropy founder and owner Tiziana Stupia says the reasons for the closing are personal: "...it is time to move on to other things," reads the newsletter, "she lost her enthusiasm for the business side of running a label a while ago, and believes she has done everything she wanted to do with the company. Hence she decided it is better to call it a day after five successful years, rather than doing the job half-heartedly. Misanthropy Records has always been about individuality and non-conformity, thus it seems appropriate to leave when the party is at its height! We sincerely thank everybody who has been with us in some way during the past five years, and hope that Misanthropy Records will live on through the legacy of its unique releases and bands."

  • STRATOVARIUS has signed to Nuclear Blast! The new deal is a worldwide excluding. In Japan the record company is JVC (same as the previous deal). The guys are very happy abouth the new deal. "Now we have a company behind us who really believes in us and wants to do everything for the band!". We believe that the fans will also be happy with this new arrangement. There will be new products available like digipacks and other special packages! Stratovarius are still in full control of the music and artwork. The new deal will not effect the music in anyway!

What else? We tried to cut down the summer festivals and other summer gigs this year. The reason is simple: We want to concentrate in the music and in the next album. That´s why we are only doing some gigs in June and one in August. The new album is planned to come out in March 2000. No name or any titles available yet! Stratovarius

  • TESTAMENT will start their tour on August 6th.  When I get more info I will post it right away!
