SWEET CYANIDE has a knack for blending the energy of more abrasive bands with great pop hooks, spiked with hair-raising guitar solos. The first single aptly titled Crash Theory will hit airwaves late August in time for the band to announce tour dates. “Crash Theory was written about a person who purposely destroys the relationships around themselves just to thrive on the feeling of loneliness and the high of putting it back together,” explains singer Sal Scoca. SWEET CYANIDE is comprised of four individualistic, yet united stimulation junkies. “All four of us are literally insane—but each in a totally different way,” laughs Angelo Fariello. The bassist grew up idolizing Nikki Sixx, Paul McCartney and Gene Simmons, and loves that SC’s live show is “like a punch in the face.” He terms lead singer, Sal Scoca, an evil genius, getting inside your head and making you believe you’re orange. SWEET CYANIDE is the collective endeavor of members from two NYC based bands that are well recognized on the regional scene, Crashbox and Moment Theory. Sal Scoca (Vocals/ Guitar) and Angelo Fariello (Bass), both from Crashbox developed a solid bond with Mike Bambace (Drums) and Joe Salvatore (Guitar) from Moment Theory. Sweet Cyanide carries a light sexual theme on the record dealing with the typical rock concept of sex, drugs, and rock n' roll but with the bands own little twist. The band will start their summer headlining music festivals across Europe before bringing their macabre stage show of metal classics to North America starting on August 7 in Vancouver. Tickets for most shows go on sale the weekend of May 8. There will also be a presale for all shows, except Baltimore, beginning May 6 at 10AM local time. Coheed And Cambria will provide support on all shows except the Seattle date on August 8, which will feature Neurosis in the supporting slot. On April 28, Heaven & Hell released their first album in 17 years THE DEVIL YOU KNOW and the highly anticipated set did not disappoint. Revolver Magazine declared it "an album of ageless metal anthems" and The Associated Press praised its "bone-crunching riffs and power chords that can loosen the phlegm in your chest." The band plans to mix in several tracks from THE DEVIL YOU KNOW into their set of Dio-era Black Sabbath classics. Heaven & Hell began writing for THE DEVIL YOU KNOW last year, first in England at Iommi's home studio and later in Los Angeles at Dio's studio. "The band had gotten too good to just walk away," Dio says. "We wanted to show people that we were still capable of giving them new music that measured up to what we'd done in the past." With that goal in mind, the band hit the Rockfield Studios in Wales last winter and the result is the 10-song epic THE DEVIL YOU KNOW. Coheed And Cambria bring their unique blend of prog and metal as the supporting act on the tour. The band just released their Neverender box set. The 4-CD/5-DVD collection chronicles a series of 2008 shows where the band performed all four of their albums in the same city on consecutive nights.
