CHTHONIC
Influenced by EMPEROR and early DIMMU BORGIR, CHTHONIC plays symphonic
metal arrangements embellished with baleful melodies on the erhu, a
two-string violin from the Far East. But while CHTHONIC are inspired
by Scandinavian bands, their music rails, not against Christianity,
but against the Han Chinese, who usurped ancient Taiwanese tradition
some 300 years ago. "When we play black metal, that's because we
are angry about some outside culture that invades our country,"
mainman Freddy previously said. "That's the same situation with
many bands in Scandinavia, so that's what we have in common with them."
CHTHONIC's first U.S. release, "Seediq Bale", came out October
3, 2006.

the United States since its June release, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

QUEENSRYCHE PERFORM MINDCRIME At THE MOORE
Double CD and Double DVD Featuring the
Full Theatrical Performance of Operation: mindcrime I and II
Are Both Available From Rhino June 26
LOS ANGELES -- Queensrÿche brought the group's acclaimed Operation:
mindcrime albums to the stage last year performing the original and
its 2006 sequel in their entirety during the group's successful North
American tour. The marathon shows included a full theatrical production
complete with surround sound, video imagery and actors portraying the
concept albums' characters onstage with the band. Rhino captures Queensrÿche's
epic performance in front of the quintet's hometown crowd at the Moore
Theater in Seattle with MINDCRIME AT THE MOORE. The double CD ($24.98)
and double DVD ($29.99) versions will both be available June 26 at all
physical retail outlets and www.rhino.com.
The album will also be available at all digital retail outlets for a
suggested retail price of $14.99. An iTunes exclusive version featuring
a video of "The Chase" with Ronnie James Dio will be available
for $15.99.
The CD includes singer and chief songwriter Geoff Tate along with guitarists
Michael Wilton and Mike Stone, bassist Eddie Jackson and drummer Scott
Rockenfield performing all 32 mindcrime tracks plus a two-song encore
featuring their signature hits -- "Jet City Woman" and "Walk
In The Shadows." The DVD features the same performance expanded
with bonus material including a tour documentary, a featurette on the
band's "Rock & Ride Across America" charity motorcycle
ride for the VH1 Save The Music Foundation, and a live performance of
"The Chase" from the Gibson Amphitheatre in Los Angeles, featuring
Ronnie James Dio's only public appearance as Dr. X.
"This concert is the realization of an idea that began nearly two
decades ago," says Tate. "The story and music of Operation:
mindcrime is very dear to the band. We are thrilled with this performance
and proud to share it with our audience."
Queensrÿche released Operation: mindcrime in 1988. Praised by critics
and certified platinum, the album was an acclaimed success remaining
on Billboard's Top 200 for more than a year. In 2006 the band released
a long-awaited sequel to their magnum opus to critical and commercial
success. The album debuted at #14 on the Top 200, their highest debut
in over a decade.
The concept albums follow an intriguing and complex plot that revolves
around Dr. X, a political puppet master who brainwashes Nikki -- the
story's main character -- to assassinate corrupt public figures. The
story also includes Nikki's lover, Sister Mary. A former teenage prostitute
who becomes a nun, Sister Mary is murdered mysteriously, leaving the
cliffhanger "Who Killed Sister Mary?" Set 20 years after the
original, Operation: mindcrime II explores Nikki's fate after being
released from prison and reveals the identity of Mary's killer. The
album centers on revenge and what it does to people, their emotions
and the choices they make.

PRONG's last CD, 2004's "Scorpio Rising", was released after
a long hiatus from the rock scene. "I had to do something, no matter
what it was," states the group's guitarist/vocalist Tommy Victor.
"Looking back, I don't feel like it was an appropriate release
under the PRONG moniker. I still feel like the best is yet to come."
MINISTRY's latest CD, "Rio Grande Blood", featured the reunion
of Victor with "Cleansing" and "Rude Awakening"
bassist Paul Raven (KILLING JOKE). This spawned discussion of a new
PRONG release involving these two rock veterans. "We are in the
process of signing a new record deal," Victor explains. "Raven
will be involved, at the very least, in collaborating for the material.
He's the best bassist in the biz so I think he can cover that as well!"
Victor adds, "I've been talking with some of the best drummers
in the world as well. People are going to have to keep checking in to
see the results of that!"
- DANZIG: 'Lost Tracks' Double-CD Collection Due In May
The long-awaited "Lost Tracks of Danzig" collection, a two-CD
set of previously unreleased DANZIG tracks spaning the band's entire
career — from the 1988 self-titled debut to the present —
will be released on May 29. It will be packaged in a book-like format
and will include a 12-page booklet of photos and a short anecdote about
each song as remembered by Glenn Danzig.
According to MTV.com, "Lost" collects a total of 26 tracks,
including a number of covers — everything from DAVID BOWIE's "Cat
People" to T. REX's "Buick MacKane" and THE GERMS' "Caught
in My Eye". All of the original songs were written — and
most recorded in bits and pieces — between 1988's "Danzig"
and 2004's "Circle of Snakes". Danzig did have to do some
additional work on the tracks to make them just right.
"A perfect example is 'Come to Silver' [from 1996's 'Blackacidevil'],
a song I wrote for Johnny Cash that I never gave to him," Danzig
told MTV.com. "I showed it to him but I never gave it to him because
I left [Cash's label, American Recordings]. But this one's an acoustic
version, and I recorded it a while ago. When we went back in to mix
it, the vocals had been wiped by the old engineer. I don't know what
the reasoning was, but he did. So I had to re-sing the whole song. It's
kind of a shock when you're all ready to mix and you ask, 'Where are
the vocals?' "
Of the other songs resurrected for the effort, Danzig prefers "Lady
Lucifera", "Warlock" and the bluesy leadoff single, "Crawl
Across Your Killing Floor". Danzig shot a black-and-white video
for that track in August 2006, and describes it as "a takeoff"
on the opening of 1966 spaghetti Western "Django".
"So I'm walking into town," he explained to MTV.com. "I
have the long leather Western coat, with the shoulder things. I'm dragging
this coffin behind me, and I open it up, and it's filled with all these
old photos and I just start burning them — pictures of Muddy Waters,
Johnny Cash, Sharon Tate, Charles Manson. I even burn a photo of Rick
[producer Rick Rubin]. I put it in an urn ... and it just goes on from
there."
In other news, Glenn Danzig and his former MISFITS bandmate Doyle Von
Frankenstein have been in the studio tracking instruments on Doyle's
first solo project since leaving the MISFITS, GORGEOUS FRANKENSTEIN.
Danzig is producing the effort, which is expected later in the year.
Also on the Danzig-related front, Glenn's "Black Aria II"
limited-edition vinyl and picture disc are being released shortly. The
limited-edition foldout cover CD release of the original "Black
Aria" is also coming back into press.
- DARK TRANQUILLITY New video clip online!
Swedish melodic death metal legend DARK TRANQUILLITY have posted their
new video clip for “Focus Shift”, a song taken from the
band’s forthcoming album “Fiction” (European street

DARK TRANQUILLITY’s Century Media Artist page
The new album “Fiction” was mixed by Tue Madsen (Himsa,
The Haunted) and encompasses all of the elements on which the band built
their career: thought-provoking lyrics, shredding guitar work, captivating
melodies and sheer brutality. This offering is perhaps best compared
to a modern-day version of the group’s revered classics “The
Gallery” and “The Mind’s I”, only with more
intensity behind it. The blueprint of melodic death metal is now at
your fingertips. German Rock Hard already hailed “Fiction”
as an album „containing all elements DARK TRANQUILLITY fans love.
With an unrivalled easiness great melodies are combined with the necessary
dose of aggression and result in atmospheric high-quality neckbreakers!!”

- SKITZO: THE SHOW MUST GO ON
Despite the hospitalization earlier this week of Skitzo vocalist Lance
Ozanix, Skitzo will perform as planned on Sunday night at Downtown Joes
Brewery in Napa, CA. Lance had the following to say in regards to the
performance, “ By contract I have to do it. The club promoted
it, and I will be playing against my doctor’s wishes. This could
be the last time. If I vomit, I could rupture my insides. But I will
do it”.
As previously announced, due to the vomiting virtuoso's recent malaise
and SKITZO needing to add a few finishing touches on the album, the
release date for "Five Point Containment" due out on Open
Grave Records will be pushed back from May 15 to June 26. The CD includes
special guest appearances by Jeff Becerra (POSSESSED), Phil Demmel (VIO-LENCE,
MACHINE HEAD), Sickie (THE MENTORS), and John Marshall (METAL CHURCH,
BLIND ILLUSION).

Swedish experimental extreme metallers MESHUGGAH have posted the following
message on their official web site:
"Yup, it's us again already!! (Oh, that soon!? - you think) We
know you guys think we update this site way too often and that our continous
'super-flux' of information is a bit too much for all y'all to handle!
Well, here's yet another little tidbit for your over-full mouths and
minds to nibble on:
As you've already read and/or heard from other places than the source
from where, in a perfect world, you should have heard it (i.e. this
site) that we're writing for coming album and we're just about to start
recording! This album will rock your flee-ridden socks off! (that is
- if you let it) We're aiming at a fall release, hopefully September!
Doing some Euro/Scandinavian festivals this summer, starting late June
through August, so check the tour schedule over the next few weeks as
dates will be posted there!

- ARCH ENEMY Frontwoman Coments On CHRISTOPHER AMOTT's Return To Band
ARCH ENEMY frontwoman Angela Gossow has commented on guitarist Christopher
Amott's decision to return to the band almost two years after he left
the group at the end of the "Doomsday Machine" recording sessions
in 2005.
"Yessssss, I can finally blurt it out: HE IS BACK!" she writes
on her MySpace page. "Our brother Chris has returned to his rightful
place, that is being a guitar hero in ARCH ENEMY! It was hard to sit
on the news for all these weeks. 'Cuz really all I wanted to do was
running up and down the streets and cry it out loud. It felt so wrong
without him, although Fredrik [Åkesson] is a wonderful guy and
a great talent. But Chris [Amott] and Michael started this band together
and they are ARCH ENEMY for me. Their signature guitar work is what
got me into this band in the first place. Plus, we missed Chris dearly
as a person, as a great friend. He is out of school and back into rock
'n' roll!"
ARCH ENEMY has spent the last weeks locked in intense rehearsals at
its homebase in Halmstad, Sweden, putting the final touches to the new
material and integrating Christopher on the new songs for the forthcoming
studio album. More news on this will follow in the next few days.
- VOIVOD To Enter Studio In The Fall
VOIVOD drummer Michel "Away" Langevin has confirmed that the
band will enter the studio this fall to begin recording the follow-up
to last year's "Katorz".
VOIVOD bassist Jason "Jasonic" Newsted was sidelined last
October by injuries to his left shoulder, right bicep and right rotator
cuff. The former METALLICA member, who was injured trying to catch a
90-pound piece of equipment that had fallen from atop of his amp, underwent
surgery and is said to be taking part in a rehab schedule that could
last up to nine months.
VOIVOD's video for the "Katorz" (2006) track "The Getaway"
has been posted online at YouTube.com. The clip was created by editing
together footage from the album's recording session and the band's 2003
U.S. tour. The group is also finalizing plans to re-release their early
back catalog on The End Records. Langevin said the band will start with
1986's "Rrröööaaarrr", the following year's
"Killing Technology" and '88's "Dimension Hatröss".
He said each LP will be remastered and upped with a bonus DVD.
VOIVOD released the critically-acclaimed "Katorz" last summer
on The End Records. The album was recently released as a limited-edition
vinyl pressing available exclusively through The End Records' mail-order.
The beautiful gatefold 180gm vinyl comes in color format and also includes
special artwork and packaging designed by Langevin. The album was done
with full cooperation from the band. The release is limited to 1,000
copies: 400 clear vinyl, 400 red vinyl and 200 black vinyl.

- CELTIC FROST: European Festival Appearances Announced
Seminal avant-garde metal pioneers CELTIC FROST have scheduled the following
European festival appearances:
June 05 - Katowice, Poland @ Mystic Festival
June 22 - Dessel, Belgium @ Graspop Festival
July 28 - Oulu, Finland @ Qstock Festival
CELTIC FROST recently announced the addition of a touring guitarist
V. Santura of the German black metal group DARK FORTRESS. The band also
revealed that they will play a "limited-duration special guest
set of 45 minutes" on their upcoming North American tour with TYPE
O NEGATIVE. "In spite of the limited playing time, the band believes
that this presents an important opportunity to play for the U.S. audiences
again and expand upon the foundation built in the course of last fall's
successful 46-date tour of North America," CELTIC FROST wrote in
a press release.
Due to the preceding co-headliner tour with KREATOR in Europe which
will conclude on April 5, 2007, in Hamburg, CELTIC FROST will not be
able to play all dates with TYPE O NEGATIVE. Immediately after the final
show of the European tour, however, the group will fly to the United
States to join TYPE O NEGATIVE for the first time on April 9, 2007,
in Chicago and remain with the tour until its conclusion on May 8, 2007,
in Baltimore, MD.
CELTIC FROST's video for "A Dying God Coming into Human Flesh",
a song taken from their first album in 13 years, "Monotheist",
can be viewed at this location. The fascinatingly gloomy clip was filmed
by up-and-coming Swiss director Jessie Fischer (no relation to singer/guitarist
Tom Gabriel Fischer) in Zürich, Switzerland, in mid-August 2006.
- MARILYN MANSON And SLAYER To Co-Headline North American Summer Tour
SLAYER and MARILYN MANSON have announced that they will co-headline
a North American major-market summer tour beginning on July 25 on the
East Coast. Plans are for the tour to play some twenty-five cities and
wrap up early September on the West Coast. A full, confirmed schedule
will be announced shortly. MANSON and SLAYER will each play full sets,
and two support bands, yet to be determined, will open all shows.
Just prior to the American trek, both MANSON and SLAYER will be on tour
throughout Europe, sharing the stage at three European festivals —
the U.K.'s Download Festival at Donington (June 9), Greenfield Festival
in Switzerland (June 15), and Sweden's Metaltown Festival (June 30).
MARILYN MANSON just wrapped up work on his upcoming June release to
be titled, "Eat Me, Drink Me", which Rolling Stone magazine
describes as "epic." Voted "Best Band in the World"
by Kerrang! magazine, the army of noise behind Manson's bitterness is
at once raw and massive when witnessing him live— "rousing
the crowd with focuses ardor," states the New York Times.
Celebrating their 26th year together, the always-uncompromising SLAYER
was just named "Best Live Band" in SPIN's 2006 Readers Poll,
and picked up their first Grammy Award last month for "Best Metal
Performance." Their latest album, "Christ Illusion" —
which debuted at #5 on Billboard's album chart — takes on the
U.S. government about the war in Iraq, prompting one newspaper to speculate,
"If Thomas Jefferson were alive today, he undoubtedly would be
listening to SLAYER."
- PRIMAL FEAR: Studio Update
German power metallers PRIMAL FEAR have posted the following message
on their official web site:
"We had a great vocal/guitar session over the weekend! Stefan [Leibing,
guitar] finished his guitar work for our new album at the U3 studio
with our good friend Achim Köhler engineering. Ralf [Scheepers]
recorded another vocal track. We're only a few steps away to finalize
the recordings and we're ready to mix the album. Swedish guitar hero
Magnus Karlsson (STARBREAKER, ALLEN/LANDE) played two fantastic [leads],
alternate guns with Stefan, and we're waiting for one spot by GAMMA
RAY's Kai Hansen and the comeback of doctor Henny Wolter! We will start
to mix the album on April 15th with Ronald Prent (RAMMSTEIN, MANOWAR,
IRON MAIDEN) at the Galaxy Studio in Belgium.
"First, we didn't want to play any festival shows during this summer,
because our new album release is scheduled for August 31st, 2007, but
after a nice discussion, we confirmed to play the Rock Am Haertsfeldsee
on June 30th — very close to our home, together with MOTÖRHEAD,
SAXON and more!"
Songtitles set to appear on the follow-up to 2005's "Seven Seals"
include "Save Me", "Fighting the Darkness", "Every
Time It Rains" (featuring a guest appearance by EPICA singer Simone
Simons) and "Torn". A summer release via Frontiers Records
is expected.
- LILLIAN AXE ROAR BACK ON METRO CITY RECORDS LABEL WITH A NEW ALBUM,
‘WATERS RISING,’ FOR JUNE 19TH, 2007
Opening for the likes of Ratt, Poison, Queensryche, Krokus, Stryper
and Lita Ford, working with some of rock’s most respected producers
and scoring several ‘Headbangers Ball’ approved video clips,
Lillian Axe certainly carved (or perhaps more appropriately, chopped)
a niche for themselves with metalheads worldwide during the ‘80s
and ‘90s. And now, after an extended hiatus, the group –
which is now comprised of Derrick LeFevre (lead vocals), Steve Blaze
(lead guitars/vocals), Sam Poitevent (guitars/vocals), Eric Morris (bass),
and Ken Koudelka (drums) – has unleashed their first new studio
album in nearly fifteen years (and first for the Metro City Records
label), titled ‘Waters Rising.’
"We have spent the last 3 years getting this record done, in 4
different locations, and we have gone through a complete metamorphosis
mentally and physically,” explains Blaze. “It's a different
environment in the music industry these days yet the spirit and soul
in creating music has stayed the same in the Lillian Axe camp. My engineer,
Rob Hovey, and I spent many hours experimenting with different approaches
to this record, but it always came back to the same formula: do what
we do, period."
Blaze also offered some insight regarding several favorite individual
tracks from ‘Waters Rising.’ “The song ’Quarantine’
deals with germaphobia - I suffer from this condition. I deal sometimes
with the ‘dirtiness’ of the world by living in a very clean,
pristine, and organized environment. ‘The 2nd of May’ speaks
of child disappearance and the theories behind the inability to find
so many missing people. ‘Field of Yesterday’ would be Lillian
Axe's ‘Stairway to Heaven’ or ‘Bohemian Rhapsody.’
The one song that encompasses the pieces sonically and emotionally that
are the quintessential elements of that group. It is about eight minutes
long and has a mid-section which capsulates the history of man's existence
in an ethereal interlude which soars and then slams back to reality.
‘5’ is an instrumental in which I used about 80 guitar tracks.
I attempted to touch on many different aspects of the instrument from
arpeggios to clean picking to orchestration to heavy blues riffs to
speed riffing to manipulation feedback. It took a while, as I wrote
it as we recorded it, but the fanatic end result was just what I intended."
Originally formed in 1983, the New Orleans-based group soon caught the
attention of Ratt manager Marshall Berle and MCA Records, leading to
the release of the group’s self-titled 1988 release (produced
by late Ratt guitarist Robbin Crosby), 1989’s ‘Love and
War’ (produced by Tony Platt, who previously worked with AC/DC),
1991’s ‘Out of the Darkness into the Light,,’ 1992’s
‘Poetic Justice,’ and 1993’s ‘Psycho-Schizophrenia’
(the last two of which were produced by Leif Mases, who previously worked
with Led Zeppelin). Additionally, such Lillian Axe tracks as “Dream
Of A Lifetime,” “Show A Little Love,” “True
Believer,” and a cover of Badfinger’s “No Matter What”
received attention from rock radio and MTV.
By the middle of the ‘90s, Lillian Axe opted to take a break,
although a collection of previously unreleased material was issued in
1999, ‘Fields of Yesterday.’ With metal once more ruling
the charts and the airwaves by the early 21st century, Lillian Axe was
back in business with live shows, resulting in the release of their
first-ever live album, ‘Live 2002,’ recorded in Houston,
Texas. Roadwork has continued for the band - including playing to 27,000
fans at Germany’s Bang Your Head Festival in 2004, as well as
an extensive European tour a year later. With new singer LeFevre recently
replacing longtime frontman Ron Taylor, ‘Waters Rising’
sees a whole new metallic chapter unfolding for Lillian Axe.
"This album has been conceptually in the works for years. ‘Waters
Rising’ represents the boiling point factor, that life seems to
be a tumultuous ride always on the brink of explosion. These recent
times on this planet seem to be proving this point. However, in each
individual is the point where you reconcile this within your spirit
and peace takes over allowing you to cope more effectively. The songs
on this record cover the different ways that we deal with this factor
and the fact that everyone is trying to make sense of it."
Tracklisting for ‘Waters Rising’:
1. Waters Rising
2. Antarctica
3. Become A Monster
4. Quarantine
5. I Have to Die, Goodbye
6. Fear of Time
7. Until the End of the World
8. Fields of Yesterday
9. Thirst
10. The 2nd of May
11. Deep in the Black

- GLENN HUGHES AND CHAD SMITH TO PERFORM TOGETHER AT L.A.’S WHISKY
A GO GO
TRENTON, N.J. - Glenn Hughes has been confirmed to play an exclusive
headline performance along with drummer Chad Smith at Los Angeles’
Whisky A Go Go on Saturday, June 2.
This will be Hughes’ first American performance since the release
of his debut Demolition Records album, “Music for the Divine,”
on which he worked closely with Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Smith.
The Whisky is the venue where Hughes and his former band Trapeze first
made a serious impact in the early ‘70s in America, so it is a
fitting venue for Hughes to perform new music from this phase of his
storied career.
“The Whisky was the club that was responsible for my breaking
the US market in the early ‘70s,” Hughes said. “I
played there a half a dozen times between ‘70 and ‘73. This
is the venue where members of Deep Purple would show up to check out
my band Trapeze. I have great memories of this legendary club. After
playing there I knew I would become a Los Angelean, and would never
live in England again. It feels like I’m comin’ home with
my wife, the amazing Chad Smith. It’s gonna be funky.”
Dubbed “the voice of rock” for his rich, soulful singing,
Hughes has explored many musical paths and worked with some of the greatest
musicians in the business. Smith, Hughes’ partner in crime in
recent years, acted as a sounding board for Hughes’ demos before
the musicians came together with longtime guitarist JJ Marsh to flesh
out the tracks for “Music for the Divine.” The trio, along
with help from Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante and Mark Kilian
on keys and string arrangements, recorded “Music for the Divine”
live at Smith’s Hollywood Hills home.
Doors open at 6:45 p.m. Tickets are now on sale via Ticketmaster outlets.
The Whisky A Go Go is located at 8901 Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood,
Calif.

the upcoming album "In Luft geritzt" ("Carved in air")
Eviga and Inve write:
"For 'In Luft geritzt' we will be recording eleven tracks: ten

as a bonus on the first edition. The writing process is nearly finished
by now, and we will try to feature additional new songs in the set-list

- KOCH SIGNS EXCLUSIVE DISTRIBUTION DEAL WITH REGAIN RECORDS, LEADING
METAL LABEL
KOCH Entertainment Distribution is pleased to announce that it has signed
an exclusive distribution deal with Regain Records and Entertainment,
LLC. Under this deal, KOCH will be the exclusive distributor for this
leading Metal label in North America.
Based in the Malmo, Sweden, Regain Records started in 1997 from the
ashes of former label Wrong Again Records (In Flames, Arch Enemy, Spiritual
Beggars and Naglfar). Regain Records was launched in 1997 with two releases,
Deranged “High on Blood” and Embraced “Amorous Anathema”.
The first two years were quite hard for the label, as it was lacking
proper distribution. Things started moving forward for the label with
the re-release of the first two In Flames albums "Lunar Strain"
and "Subterranean".
In the last couple of years Regain Records evolved to a very dynamic
label in Europe with names like Danzig, Samael, Marduk, Dark Funeral,
Behemoth, Overkill among others as well as a back catalog consisting
of strong names like In Flames and Arch Enemy. Regain Records goal is
to grow and establish its name more while always supporting the scene
and trying hard to release quality instead of quantity. Key current
artists include - Gorgoroth, Vader, Dark Funeral, Lord Belial, Behemoth,
Marduk, In Flames and Arch Enemy.
Forthcoming key releases via KOCH include Arch Enemy's debut release
"Black Earth", which has never before been officially released
in North America, Marduk "ROM 5:12", Gorgoroth "True
Norwegian Black Metal", Dark Funeral - new studio TBD, and Behemoth
- new studio and new double DVD TBD.
"For ten years Regain Records have been licensing our catalog rights
to various labels for the North American territory, so we are very happy
to finally have an office in the states and to be part of the KOCH roster
of labels. We feel that we have some of the premiere Metal acts of their
genre and look forward to marketing them under the Regain name,”
comments Dennis Clapp, Managing Director of Regain Records and Entertainment,
LLC.
Michael Rosenberg, President of KOCH Entertainment Distribution adds,
“We’re very pleased to welcome Regain Records to our family

- LACUNA COIL - Megadeth featuring vocals by Cristina Scabbia
LACUNA COIL’s Cristina Scabbia didn’t only do guest-vocals
for Megadeth’s "A Tout Le Monde" (which originally appeared
on the 1994 album "Youthanasia") now retitled "A Tout
Le Monde (Set Me Free)", but also participated in the video of
the song that was shot at a downtown Los Angeles studio on Thursday,
March 8. Check out pictures from the at LACUNA COIL’s Myspace
Blog
or watch a video clip with some behind the scenes footage @
MySpace!
“I just shot my parts for the new Megadeth video ‘A Tout
Le Monde’ in Los Angeles, and it was a blast! I met Dave Mustaine
the day before I shot my individual parts, and it’s always amazing
when you can talk with an artist who has been around in the music scene
for so long and is still down to earth. Dave was nothing but kind to
me.
It was such an honor to collaborate on the song, and then to be asked
to participate in the video shoot was simply unbelievable. I always
loved the original version of the song, but what a lot of people don’t
know is that this is an entirely new version. It’s more rockin’
and powerful. Now I totally understand why they decided to remake the
song, for even though the original was already amazing, this new version
brings more to the table.
I did my best to play up my ‘acting skills’ the best I could.
It was definitely funny to play the part. You’ll soon see what
I mean. It’s going to be great. I’m sure you’ll have
as much fun watching this video as I had playing my character when you’ll
see the final cut. And these are the last words I’ll ever speak,
and they’ll set me free. // Cristina Scabbia”
"A Tout Le Monde (Set Me Free)" will appear on Megadeth's
new album, "United Abominations".
After finalizing a video-clip for “Within Me” the band will
embark on the latest installment of the Jägermeister Music Tour
alongside Stone Sour and Shadows Fall. The trek, which kicks off on
March 23rd and runs through early May, is the group’s fourth U.S.
run in support of their “Karmacode” album. Before playing
a few selected festivals in Europe they will do their own US headlining
tour with the motto “The Hottest Women In Metal" together
with Within Temptation, In This Moment, The Gathering and/or Kylesa.

- FINNTROLL Post New Song Online; Set U.S. Release Date
After many nights of drunken debauchery at Sonic Pump studios, where
they certainly overstayed their welcome, FINNTROLL are proud to bring
North America another fine example of their trademark blackened pagan
folk metal on April 24. The Trolls from up North have posted "Korpens
Saga", a track taken from their forthcoming album Ur Jordens Djup
online. Check it out at MySpace.com/officialfinntroll
.
Under the guidance of producer extraordinaire Nino Laurenne, who has
similarly assisted goth legends Nightwish and Amorphis, FINNTROLL have
crafted their most consistent concoction of cavernous chaos yet, including
a 13-minute closer. The effort is drenched in atmosphere, guitarists
Skrymer and Routa creating a maelstrom of metal mayhem amidst the pull
and sway of pagan polka.
Ur Jordens Djup marks a unique chapter for the band with a new vocalist
who will be making his live North American debut in September on a full
U.S. tour (see below for dates). With former vocalist Wilska’s
departure in 2006, the remaining members scoured their native homeland
for a suitable replacement, only to stumble upon the like-minded and
equally inebriated Vreth. After a few pints, a number of wild practice
sessions, and a covert initiation rite, FINNTROLL welcomed Vreth with
open arms. You won't want to miss Vreth and the gang when they hit your
town.

- THE GATHERING Drummer Comments On Chilean DVD Shoot
Dutch rock band THE GATHERING has commented on its recently announced
one-off headlining show in New York City and its upcoming live CD and
DVD, "A Noise Severe".
Says drummer Hans Rutten, "We are going to do a one-off special
headlining show in New York City before we support our friends from
LACUNA COIL for a mere two weeks! We are looking forward to come to
the USA and Canada again. Hope to see you all somewhere!
"We just finished our tour in South America with the recordings
of our live DVD and CD, and they went very, very well. We recorded in
front of 4,000 totally crazy Chileans! It was one of the biggest highlights
of the band's career, and what makes it even more special is that we
were able to capture this vibe on DVD. It will be called 'A Noise Severe',
and a noise severe it was, with the audience alone hitting 104 db several
times without the band playing!"
"A Noise Severe" is the follow-up to the well-received 2005

- WES BORLAND RETURNS WITH BLACK LIGHT BURNS
Debut Album, Cruel Melody, Set For Release June 5 on I Am: Wolfpack
Fans of multi-platinum bands Limp Bizkit and Nine Inch Nails will soon
have something new to look forward to. Former lead guitarist for Limp
Bizkit, Wes Borland has now returned to front BLACK LIGHT BURNS with
Nine Inch Nails/A Perfect Circle drummer Josh Freese, Telefon Tel Aviv
sound designer Josh Eustis and Nine Inch Nails guitarist Danny Lohner.
Danny Lohner also produced the band’s debut album CRUEL MELODY
which will be in-stores on June 5, on famed record producer Ross Robinson’s
brand new upstart label I AM: WOLFPACK.
CRUEL MELODY was originally going to be an esoteric, dirge-heavy solo
project with a variety of singers, but as Borland started writing heavier
material, he finally decided to take the reins behind the mike.
From the post-Ramones surf rock freakout opener “Mesopotamia”
to slow building confessional “I Have A Need,” to “Lie”,
CRUEL MELODY is a 180 degree turn from Borland’s previous work.
BLACK LIGHT BURNS’ first single “Lie” was the #1 most
added single at active rock radio week ending 3/23/07 and looks ahead
to touring this summer with new onstage persona for their maiden voyage,
boasting a live band with guitarist Nick Annis (Seether), drummer Marshal
Kirpatric (Today Is the Day, the Esoteric) and, for now, a laptop to
wreak ambient havoc.
BLACK LIGHT BURNS will make their first live debut at the NARM convention
in Chicago on April 30th.

- News from Pure Steel Records
The traditionalists GORGONS EYES from Berlin, which caused a stir in
the underground with "The battle rages on", will release their
new album "Inglorious birth" through us. The album is actually
about to be mixed and will be released probably in september. Anyone
that not enjoyed the last Manowar Album's will surely strike gold here.
The next increase to Pure Steel Records are STEELRAISER from Italy.
You like Judas Priest and Accept? Then you can prelisten on www.myspace.com/steelraiser.
The releasedate for the complete album depends on the time that is needed
for doing the recordings, but it will be at the end of this year or
beginning of the next.
EMERALD from Switzerland did nearly finish the recordings for their
new album "Hymns to steel" closly to us in Aue/Saxony in february.
Unfortunatly Ivo(voc/gui) arrived here already ill, infected the half
of the Pure Steel Records crew also and was not able to record the vocals.
Now he recovered from the "Ivola-Virus" so that vocals can
be recorded in Switzerland within the next weeks. The releasedate will
be in september now.
TITAN STEELE are also about to record their "Debut"-album
"The Force". The recordings are almost fininshed now and again
the releasedate will be around september.

- BYZANTINE Offers In-Studio Update; Touring Plans
West Virginia's forward-thinking thrashers BYZANTINE are currently in
the studio finishing recording for the band's upcoming full-length,
"Oblivion Beckons." Mixing will take place at Highview Studios
by Drew Mazurek and the album will be mastered by Alan Douches at West
West Side Music and the album will see a late-summer release.
"The record is coming along really well, commented bassist Skip
Cromer. "The sound is really good, we tried some redneck experiments
to get some slamming tones and they ended up working. The majority of
the songs definitely fall into the trash vein of things.
BYZANTINE recently took a short break from recording with producer Charles
A. Fisher in Sissonville, WV to join up with God Forbid, Arsis, Goatwhore
and Mnemic for a brief trek throughout the eastern US. The band is currently
