- TUSKA OPEN AIR METAL FESTIVAL PRESS RELEASE
- Mnemic and Paska complete the 2005 line-up
- Tuska Warm-up party on June 15th at Tavastia in Helsinki - exclusive
Amorphis-show
Tuska Open Air Metal Festival taking place in Kaisaniemi, Helsinki,
during 15.-17.7. has completed the 2005 line-up.
The sole vacant slot on Saturday has now been occupied by Danish future
metallers Mnemic. The Danes just recently played their first show in
Finland at the Finnish Metal Expo and will now return to perform to
larger crowds.
Not many people outside of Finland have heard about the performance
artist known as Paska. His eccentric and certainly very original performances
can be seen on all stages throughout the weekend. Be warned.
The only missing act at this stage is the winner of the band contest
at Rotonde-Festival at the end of May.
According to the tradition established in prior years, a Tuska warm-up
party will take place at the infamous Tavastia Club in Helsinki on Wednesday,
15th of June. The crowd will be treated with the only live-performance
of the summer by the legendary Amorphis. These true veterans of Finnish
metal will be warmed up by the groovy Rust and up and coming melodic
emocore act April. Amorphis have just recently returned from a successfull
North - American tour with their newly recruited singer Tomi Joutsen.
In other Amorphis-related news, the band signed a fresh recording contract
with German Nuclear Blast Records and will soon enter the studio to
record a follow up to their 2003 album Far From The Sun.
Tuska 2005 evening clubs offer more variety than ever in terms of venues
and acts. Tavastia and Manala will carry on from last year, and as for
new locations, Tuska will pay homage to its original festival site,
VR-Makasiinit by hosting evening clubs on Friday and Saturday. Gloria
will be the location of first ever all-ages -Tuska-clubs. Also a new
addition is the recently opened, widely popular NiteLife Rock, a.k.a.
Talevala. The programme for all Tuska 2005 evening clubs will be released
in May.
Tickets for Tuska 2005 are currently on sale. Three day ticket costs
67 euro and one day tickets 32 euro each. Tickets are available through
Lippupalvelu (www.lippupalvelu.fi)
and Tiketti (www.tiketti.fi).
Tickets for Tuska Warm-up are available only at www.tiketti.fi
for 10 euro. Tickets will go on sale on Tuesday April 26th.

- IOMMI, Featuring Legendary Heavy Metal Guitarist Tony Iommi, To Release
New Album,
Fused on July 12, 2005 on Sanctuary Records
Black Sabbath Axe-Slinger Joined By Vocalist/Bassist Glenn Hughes and
Drummer Kenny Aronoff
Tour Planned After This Summer’s OZZFEST
Tony Iommi, the legendary Black Sabbath guitarist, will release his
new album Fused on July 12, 2005, via Sanctuary Records. This will be
Iommi's third solo album.
Joining Iommi on Fused is former Deep Purple vocalist/bass guitarist
Glenn Hughes and former John Mellencamp drummer Kenny Aronoff, who has
also played sessions with the likes of the Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan,
Rod Stewart, Alice Cooper, Bob Seger, Lynyrd Skynyrd and countless others.
The trio will hit the road to promote Fused later this year after Black
Sabbath finishes headlining the 10th anniversary Ozzfest tour.
The 10 songs on Fused are: "Dopamine," “Wasted Again,”
“Saviour Of The Real,” “Resolution Song,” “Grace,”
“Deep Inside A Shell,” “What You’re Living For,”
“Face Your Fear,” “The Spell” and “I Go
Insane.”
Iommi has worked with both Hughes and Aronoff in the past. Hughes is
a longtime friend who sang on the 1986 Black Sabbath Featuring Tony
Iommi album Seventh Star. In 2004, previously unreleased songs they
had collaborated on eight years earlier were completed and released
by Sanctuary as The 1996 DEP Sessions. Aronoff played drums on the song
"Black Oblivion" on Iommi's self-titled 2000 solo album, which
was loaded with all-star guest appearances. Fused was produced by Bob
Marlette, who also manned the studio boards for Iommi.
"I put some ideas for four or five tracks down about three years
ago, but I hadn't written them specifically with Glenn in mind,"
Iommi says. "After The 1996 DEP Sessions was finished last year,
I said to my manager that I should try Glenn on my solo album. Glenn
came over to England and we did a trial run writing more material and
it was unbelievable. His enthusiasm is amazing. He is so full of energy
and great song ideas.”
"The ideal thing for me is to work with collaborators. I can come
in with riffs until the cows come home, and I do that all the time.
I like to do it that way and then build the song with somebody else."
Iommi and Hughes tend to write quickly when they settle in. Once the
basic song ideas were written for this new album, Hughes worked on overall
melodies and lyrics. The songs were in place, but a drummer was needed
to tie it all together. Iommi was eager to work with Aronoff again and
had him in mind from the beginning. The highly respected skins-basher
was thrilled about the invitation, especially when Iommi said he wanted
to tour to promote Fused.
"I definitely knew that for my next album I wasn't going to use
a lot special guests again. I wanted to use just one singer, and I also
wanted it to be more like a band this time. The idea was to go into
the studio with Glenn and Kenny play everything live. It was great.
I really enjoyed doing it that way," says Iommi. "That was
the original way you used to record, and that was the only way I knew
how to record for a long time. Only a few years ago did I start recording
the other way, by building up and layering tracks. By playing live in
the studio, you can hear exactly how the songs are going to sound and
whether they work."
These new songs most definitely work, and they rage with the same fire
and intensity that mark Iommi's best. There is nothing quite like the
sound of a power trio, because there can be no weak links -- each musician's
efforts stand out. There is no place to hide. Iommi, Hughes and Aronoff
feed off each other, whether it's the concise punch of "Dopamine"
and "What You're Living For" or the fluid twists and turns
in the nine-minute epic "I Go Insane."
Iommi's lethal guitar crunch leads the charge. Hughes truly pushes himself
to the edge and adjusts his voice to fit the overall direction of each
song while simultaneously propelling the rhythm with his pounding bass
guitar. The volcanic thunder Aronoff unleashes from his drums sounds
like nothing he has done before. Marlette's sparkling, crisp production
results in a hard-hitting, modern, in-your-face sound.
"Bob is a fantastic producer. He also played a few keyboard parts
on this album because he wanted to get his hands in there!" laughs
Iommi.
Marlette's major role as the producer was to provide that extra, objective
pair of ears and determine when a song was finished. He also judged
Iommi's solos and usually found what he looking for after four or five
takes. However, Iommi often wanted to lay down more solos with the purpose
of topping himself with each pass.
"I tend to keep trying solos until I get to where I say, 'Oh yeah,
I really like that one.' It's not often I say that, but you're always
trying to get that one you're happy with," he says. "Sometimes
it is difficult working with a producer when you have been a producer
yourself, but it's good to compare ideas. To get the best end result
you do whatever it takes."
Iommi's excitement about Fused is at a fever pitch and he cannot wait
to tour with Hughes and Aronoff.
"In addition to playing material from this album, we'll probably
do a couple of tracks from The 1996 DEP Sessions and a few Sabbath songs
too," he says.

- DEREK SHERINIAN Teams Up With ZAKK WYLDE
ZAKK WYLDE EXCLUSIVE SONG – THE RIVER SONG – ONLY ON
DEREK SHERINIANS NEW ALBUM “MYTHOLOGY” IN STORES NOW
YOU WON’T FIND THIS SONG ON ANY
BLACK LABEL SOCIETY ALBUM
BUY IT @ WWW.DEREKSHERINIAN.COM
Billy Idol’s famed keyboardist, Derek Sherinian, releases yet
another masterpiece on InsideOut Music. Mythology, Sherinian’s
fourth solo album is a true brilliant work of art. Playing with a cast
of virtuoso’s, Mythology is a combination of styles - rock, prog
and metal with splashes of jazz. As the composer, Sherinian left a lot
of room for the guest artists to feel natural in playing. So much so
that Zakk Wylde was inspired by the flow of the music that he wrote
lyrics for the track The River Song and also performed the vocals.
The cast o’ characters are comprised of Steve Stevens (Billy Idol),
Zakk Wylde (Black Label Society/Ozzy), Allan Holdsworth, Steve Lukather
(Toto), Simon Phillips (Toto), John Sykes (Thin Lizzy/Whitesnake, Blue
Murder), Tony Franklin (The Firm/Blue Murder), Marco Mendoza (Thin Lizzy/Blue
Murder/Whitesnake/Ted Nugent/Ozzy), Jerry Goodman (Mahavishnu Orchestra/Dixie
Dregs) and Brian Tichy (Billy Idol, Ozzy, Slashes Snakepit). With a
line-up like that you can only expect the best.
Much of the album was recorded at Sherinian’s own Beachwood Manor
Studios in Burbank, CA. Considering that he has released seven full-length
recordings in the last five years – four solo albums, and three
with Planet X, the studio is always busy. That’s just the way
Sherinian likes it. “All I’m trying to do is create music
that moves me first,” he says. “I hope other people dig
it too.”

- CROWBAR TO TOUR WITH CORROSION OF CONFORMITY
ALBUM BUZZ CONTINUES TO BUILD
Philadelphia: Crowbar have been confirmed as direct support on Corrosion
of Conformity's upcoming summer headline tour. Set to kick off June
2 at The Vogue in Indianapolis it is planned to run into early July.
The tour is Crowbar's second US run in support of their latest album,
Lifesblood for the Downtrodden.
"The granddaddy of New Orleans sludge has returned," stated
Metal Maniacs in a recent cover story. "It is truly the band's
best output," the magazine continues as it reported on-location
during the final days of mastering Lifesblood, released by Candlelight
USA on February 8 and Candlelight Records for the rest of the world
March 7. "The sound of Crowbar in 2005 is considerably more fascinating
than ever before," says Brave Words Bloody Knuckles while Revolver
adds, "Crowbar's new and eighth release makes the heavy even heavier."
Lifesblood for the Downtrodden is a sonic testimonial to the determination,
spirit and sheer creativity of a band very much at a continuing upswing
of musical output. Produced by Rex Brown (Pantera) and Warren Riker
(Corrosion of Conformity, Down), it finds guitarist/vocalist Kirk Windstein,
guitarist Steve Gibb, bassist Pat Bruders, and drummer Tommy Buckley
(with album performances from Rex Brown, Craig Nunenmacher, and Sid
Montz) in top form. It concludes a three-year silence for the long respected
band. Debuting in 1992 with the formidable Obedience Through Suffering,
Crowbar immediately found audience for their slow, bellowing sounds.
Originally noted as a cross-mix of Pantera and The Melvins, later dubbed
sludge metal/core, Crowbar would pioneer the sound with Time Heals Nothing
and Broken Glass. 1998’s Odd Fellows Rest saw the band’s
line up change with former Acid Bath/Goatwhore guitarist Sammy le Duet
and Eyehategod drummer Jimmy Bower stepping in (he also contributing
to Down with Windstein, Corrossion of Conformity’s Pepper Keenan
and Pantera’s Phillip Anselmo). The band signed to Candlelight
Records worldwide in 2004.
Confirmed dates as of press time include:
06/02 The Vogue, Indianapolis IN
06/03 Harpo's Concert Theatre, Detroit MI
06/04 Newport Music Hall, Columbus OH
06/05 Recher Theatre, Towson MD
06/06 Irving Plaza, New York NY
More dates to follow. Previously announced headline dates for Crowbar
will be rescheduled or reworked in conjunction with the Corrosion of
Conformity tour. Further details will follow.

- SWEDEN’S BLINDSIDE SIGNS WITH DRT
**New Album In-stores This Summer**
**Blindside and A Thought Crushed My Mind Re-issued With Bonus Tracks**
**Ten Years Running Blind DVD Also Planned**
New York, NY – DRT, in cooperation with Wasa Recordings, has signed
Sweden’s Blindside. The band is currently in the studio working
on their new album, as yet untitled, expected out this summer. Lasse
“Lars” Marten, who produced the band’s debut, is back
on board and working with the band at Decibel Studios in Stockholm.
Blindside’s first two albums, their self-titled debut and A Thought
Crushed My Mind , will be re-issued in late May, along with a new DVD,
Ten Years Running Blind. Both albums have been digitally remastered
and contain four additional bonus tracks. In addition, lead singer Christian
Lindskog has designed special new artwork for the packaging of both
the albums and the DVD.
Blindside (1997), will feature original demos of “Superman,”
“Liberty,” “Forgiven” and “Stolen,”
previously only available as a limited edition released only in Stockholm
in 1996. A Thought Crushed My Mind , originally released in 2000, will
include two songs only available on 7” vinyl, “Knocking
On Another Door,” and “All You Need Is,” as well as
the never before released tracks “Desert Flower” and “Sunrise.”
Ten Years Running Blind, the band’s premier DVD, is over 2 1⁄2
hours long and chronicles the band’s 10-year run. It features
a 40 minute documentary with exclusive band interviews, five live performance
videos, six music videos and extensive behind-the-scenes footage.
“We were supposed to go all the way with our own label and release
the new record ourselves when DRT showed up,” says Blindside’s
Tomas Naslund. “They were genuinely interested in the band and
had the knowledge that we did not. It seemed like the perfect match
and we are excited to work with them.” Adds Simon Grenehed, “(DRT
co-principal) Derek Shulman kept coming back to us, and even flew out
to Oklahoma to meet with our management. I had a chance to speak with
him over the phone and he wasn't the typical record executive that we
were tired of.”
“We are absolutely ecstatic to have a band of Blindside's caliber
on DRT,” commented DRT’s Milo Pacheco. “They are truly
one of the most inspiring rock bands working in music today, and we
are committed to expanding their base as they continue to make albums
that are both powerful and compelling.”
Blindside formed in Stockholm, Sweden in 1994 and have done extensive
headline tours of both Europe and the U.S. with such acts as Linkin
Park, Hoobastank and P.O.D. They have sold over 250,000 units in the
U.S., with their latest release, 2004’s About A Burning Fire,
debuted in the Top 40 on the Billboard Album Chart. The band will embark
on an extensive tour beginning in June 2005 and will be re-launching
their official website, www.blindsideonline.com,
soon.

- AMORPHIS Come Home!
Having worked with Nuclear Blast in the early- and mid-90s during the
release of classic albums such as The Karellian Isthumus, Tales From
The Thousand Lakes and Elegy, this is what guitar player Esa Holopainen
states about the band's homecoming to Nuclear Blast:
"Last year was quite difficult for AMORPHIS. We went through (another)
lineup change after we decided that it's better if Mr. Koskinen leaves
the band. Finding a new vocalist was tough. It was more difficult than
we actually would have imagined. We received about 150 demos from people
all around - some of them were really good, some not. At that time we
noticed that it's an impossible mission to find a singer whose sound
would match AMORPHIS and who would give 100% to the band. We actually
thought about doing an instrumental album when one of Mr. Koivusaari's
friends told us about their singer Tomi, who is really talented. We
listened to his demo and his sound was exactly what we were looking
for. Koivusaari called him up and he was really interested trying to
rehearse with AMORPHIS. The day he came over, we went through 'Against
Widows,' 'Alone' and few other songs including 'Sign From The North
Side,' which is from our debut album, and it was proven that Tomi Joutsen
is the next AMORPHIS singer.
Besides changing vocalists, we changed management and sat down think
about how to continue from here. We already composed songs for the forthcoming
album and started to work with vocals. We thought about different options
and all agreed that it's better if we stuck with basics and go back
to where we once started. We have been really good friends with Nuclear
Blast dudes for over ten years. I remember talking with Markus at the
Summer Breeze Festival over a year ago, and he told us we should come
back to Nuke Blast. During the past years, we have become really cynical
with labels because 95% of all talk is bullshit and they give you promises
that they can't keep. We knew that we could always call up the Nuke
guys with whatever matter and we knew how they work. This is the most
important thing - that these guys are true fans of the music they put
out. So, we are now officially signed back to Nuclear Blast and I have
to say that it feels really good."
For the people who wonder how AMORPHIS sounds today, it's EPIC, HEAVY
and MELODIC with a mixture of GROWLING VOCALS!!!
The latest release from AMORPHIS, Far From The Sun, was released on
Nuclear Blast on September 4th, 2004. Metal

Symphonies debut, The Last Moment, will be the summer of 2005.
Former Candlelight Records recording artist ELEGION transcend all existing
boundaries of aestheticism, capture the darkest of all emotions and
delve through the forgotten recesses of the mind. This music is for
those seeking to surpass the musical ambit and redefine its boundaries.
Although this quest may never be ultimately achieved, it will never
be abandoned. Hopefully, it can only inspire and temporarily satisfy
the ears of those searching for the ultimate emotive experience...but
until then, listen...
Their new release, The Last Moment, takes the listener deeper into the
bands unrelenting descent into the boundless pit of despair. And, although
like the Loch ness Monster, this band rarely raise their heads above
the black murky depths to bring an offering to the surface, you will
see that this new chapter in the Elegeion journey is well worth the
wait. It features supreme artwork by Travis Smith (Katatonia, Opeth),
Justin Hartwig from Chalice on lead guitar, members of the Adelaide
Symphony Orchestra, and the angelic voice of Dieudonnee.
Commenting on their signing to Dark Symphonies, ELEGEION's founder and
main composer Anthony Kawn shares, "I am extremely happy to be
releasing this album through Dark Symphonies. I look forward to getting
the band wider exposure both in America and the rest of the world, and
working with blokes who are passionate about music and committed to
promoting quality doom metal.
With The Last Moment, I hope to bring together all the best elements
of previous releases, with the addition of some new influences from
Dee and James, to create a true solid fusion of melancholic metal with
strings, piano and female vocals. We spent a lot of time writing, refining
and recording the songs and, by comparison, I feel this release is Elegeion's
best to date, and I really hope the fans will agree!"
Now here is the complete recording details and tracklisting for The

- IT DIES TODAY: VAN AND EQUIPMENT STOLEN ON THE ROAD!
Band Will Finish Out Tour With God Forbid no matter what!
Rising metalcore stars It Dies Today were robbed of their van and equipment
while on the road in California. The Buffalo natives were on the west
coast leg of their tour with God Forbid, Full Blown Chaos and Caliban
and were spending the night at the house of good friends Cold War when
their van -- loaded with their equipment and merchandise -- was stolen
in the middle of the night. The van was later recovered missing all
of its contents and with the fuel line cut. Consequently, the band has
had to cancel shows in San Francisco and Denver, but are determined
to finish the tour. As a testament to their personal and musical popularity,
an outpouring of support has come from fans and fellow bands alike.
Full Blown Chaos and Caliban have offered to let It Dies Today borrow
gear for the shows. Fans have donated to a PayPal account that the band
has set up which can be found at: xbleednomorex@yahoo.com.
And Cold War even turned an existing show in Pomona, CA into a benefit
show where It Dies Today played and all profits from that show went
towards helping the band recover from their loss. The band extends their
sincerest thanks to everyone involved in helping them get back on their
feet.
The band has been riding a wave of momentum that started with the release
of their full-length debut on Trustkill Records, The Caitiff Choir.
Following this current tour, the band will play a coveted slot on this
summer's Ozzfest tour alongside metal legends like Black Sabbath and
Iron Maiden. The band was also chosen by metal veterans Machine Head
to support them on a full US tour along with DevilDriver. It Dies Today's
brand of melodic metalcore doesn't just play well to metal audiences,
however. The band just finished up a full US tour supporting hardcore
heavyweights Throwdown. If all that wasn't enough, the band also headlined
two tours earlier this year with Twelve Tribes and Trivium playing support.
With this amount of touring under their belts, it is hard to believe
that quintet only just released their debut in fall 2004 with over 25,000
copies sold already. The quintet is not only young as a band; the average
age of the members is only about 21, making their accumulated accolades
all the more impressive.
Comprised of vocalist Nick Brooks, guitarists Mike Hatalak and Chris
Capelli, bassist Steve Lemke and drummer Nick Mirusso, It Dies Today
have been around for three years and have been building a name for themselves
out of the same upstate NY scene that is home to Every Time I Die and
Snapcase. Anyone with information regarding the van theft has been asked
to contact the band's manager Steve Koenig at scott@kingartistmanagement.com.

- DARK FUNERAL LIVE ALBUM FINDS
LONG-AWAITED RELEASE
Philadelphia: Candlelight USA with Regain Records confirms May 31 as
the stateside release of De Profundis Clamavi ad te Domine, the long-awaited
live album from Sweden's Dark Funeral.
Recorded during the band’s successful 2003 tour of South American
(including stops in Brazil, Chile and Colombia), De Profundis Clamavi
ad te Domine features a selection of material that spans the band’s
decade-long career. Raw, fierce, evil - it captures the dark essence
that is and always will be Dark Funeral. Released in Europe some time,
the delayed release is sure to please the band's extensive US fanbase.
"We are very excited to finally see the official release date of
De Profundis Clamavi Ad Te Domine in the US," says guitarist Lord
Ahriman. "Due to label problems it has been a long time since we've
been active for the US market, however things are finally changing for
the better. We want our fans to know that we are gearing up for a killer
year that will not only include this release but a new record, video,
dvd and worldwide touring."
Dark Funeral is a band in need of no formal introductions. Their albums,
tours, and personnae are without doubt one of the most notorious and
highly regarded of the genre; De Profundis Clamavi ad te Domine capturing
what fans have long held as one of the best live extreme metal bands
of recent history. Dating to 1993, Dark Funeral recorded their self-titled
Ep and quickly established themselves as a band to watch. Their full-length
debut, the impressive The Secrets of the Black Arts was an immediate
success and would see through the band’s first headlining European
tour. The band's commanding stage presence was witnessed by fans across
the continent; blood, corpse paint and ancient weaponry as a dominating
backdrop to the band’s fast and intricate music. From the get-go
their shows would become legend. Dark Funeral would visit the US for
the first time; a trip fans still recall vividly. Vobiscum Satanas,
In the Sign and the monumental Diabolis Interium would follow, further
expanding the band’s worldwide fanbase, securing them a top spot
on extreme metal’s worldwide hierarchy.
Currently working on material for their next opus, De Profundis Clamavi
ad te Domine is a rest stop on a recording legacy that continues to
impress. Dark Funeral currently features vocalist/bassist Emperor Magnus
Caligula, guitarist Lord Ahriman, guitarist Chaq Mol, and drummer Matte
Modin.Track listing for De Profundis Clamavi ad te Domine is confirmed
as: Intro, The Arrival of Satan’s Empire, An Apprentice of Satan,
The Dawn of No More Rises, Thy Legions Come, Hail Murder, Goddess of
Sodomy, The Secrets of the Black Arts, Vobiscum Satanas, Shadows Over
Transylvania, Open the Gates, Ineffable Kings of Darkness, Thus I have
Spoken, My Dark Desires, Armageddon Finally Comes.

- HATE ETERNAL COMPLETE "I, MONARCH"
Hate Eternal have completed the next benchmark in the history of extreme
music. With dizzying musicality and creativity, Hate Eternal's third
album, I, Monarch, propels metal into the next dimension.
The fearsomely talented and broad-minded musical trinity of guitarist/vocalist
Erik Rutan, drummer Derek Roddy, and bassist Randy Piro unites in new
and transcendent ways on I, Monarch. Torrential blastbeats (perhaps
truly the fastest yet recorded) meld with inhuman polyrhythms whilst
lyrical firestorms rain down with unmatched rage - yet the groove underlying
the chaos is of collosal proportions. Amidst shredding guitar leads
and warp-speed drums, strange and unexpected sounds lie lurking - Tibetan
drums, tabla, didjeridoo. With I, Monarch Hate Eternal have struck a
groundbreaking balance between groove and chaos, soul and precision,
focused aggression and open-minded musical vision.
I, Monarch was recorded and mixed by Hate Eternal frontman Erik Rutan
(Soilent Green, Into The Moat) at his own Mana Studios in Tampa, Florida.
Artist Paul Romano (Mastodon, Trivium) is handling the cover art. The
confirmed I, Monarch tracklisting is as follows:
(1) Two Demons
(2) Behold Judas
(3) The Victorious Reign
(4) To Know Our Enemies
(5) I, Monarch
(6) Path To The Eternal Gods
(7) The Plague Of Humanity
(8) It Is Our Will
(9) Sons Of Darkness
(10) Faceless One
I, Monarch will see a June 28 release in the US and June 27 in the UK
and Europe.

- MUDVAYNE DEBUTS ON BILLBOARD'S TOP 200 AT #2
WITH SALES OF 152,000 UNITS, NEW RELEASE LOST AND FOUND IS THE BAND'S
HIGHEST CHARTING ALBUM TO DATE
LEAD SINGLE "HAPPY?" HITS #1 AT ROCK RADIO
Talk about detonating on impact. LOST AND FOUND, the new album from
Epic recording artists MUDVAYNE, rocketed onto Billboard's Top 200 this
week at No. 2, making it both the highest debut and highest charting
album of the band's career. With sales of 152,000 units, the rock juggernaut
almost doubled the first-week numbers of its previous release, 2002's
The End of All Things To Come.
News of the album's explosive arrival follows a flurry of headline-making
moves for Mudvayne, who recently scored the much-coveted third slot
on the main stage of this summer's Ozzfest (going on just before headliners
Black Sabbath and Iron Maiden) and garnered their first-ever #1 hit
at rock radio with lead single "Happy?"
Mudvayne (lead singer Chad Gray, guitarist Greg Tribbett, bassist Ryan
Martinie and drummer Matt McDonough) are currently on a seven-week headlining
tour that began March 29th. They'll follow with a tour of Europe before
the launch of Ozzfest, which begins July 15th at the Tweeter Center
in Boston.
- HEADLINING ANOTHER VOICE TOUR
Presented by decibel magazine
"This is a record for all the fuck-ups, the disenchanted; this
is a hardcore pride record."
– Roger Miret of Agnostic Front
Since 1983, AGNOSTIC FRONT, one of the most venerable and notorious
outcasts of the hardcore movement, have helped get messages across to
the populace through their socially driven music. As one of the original
hardcore bands that lived and breathed the problems that controlled
their everyday New York City lifestyle, Another Voice, which hit streets
on January 25th, 2005, gave power and strength to these ignored voices.
Their most intense album yet, Another Voice, offers a violent attack
on today's civility, exposing some of society's worst problems with
a genuine street-bred angst and fire that only few bands possess.
Don't miss AGNOSTIC FRONT headlining the U.S. ANOTHER VOICE TOUR
with label-mates
ALL SHALL PERISH
"The blunt force and unrepentant banging and hugging of New York
hardcore."
– Stuff Magazine
"Does the world really need another Agnostic Front record?
Technically, fuck yes"
– decibel Magazine
"I'm in awe if the brutal reality of Agnostic Front – for
not only releasing an outstanding album like Another Voice in 2004,
but doing so on heavyweight Nuclear Blast."

- 'MANNTIS' SIGNS WITH THE CENTURY MEDIA FAMILY
CURRENTLY ON THE ‘BATTLE FOR OZZFEST’ TOUR
‘A DOZEN FURIES,’ ‘MANNTIS’ AND ‘CURSE
YOUR NAME’
HOLLYWOOD (April , 2005) – Southern California quintet MANNTIS
have officially signed a worldwide deal with Century Media Records.
The group’s debut album, Sleep In Your Grave, is set for a June
28th release. The disc was produced by Cameron Webb and features 11
blistering tracks of unrelenting metal intensity. The group have been
influenced by a diverse number of bands ranging from Meshuggah and Pantera
to Killswitch Engage and Zao, to name just a few, and their pummeling
sound reflects the combination of these influences.
Jake Sirokman (vocals) further conveys his excitement over the recent
signing: “We're extremely happy to be with Century Media Records.
We love the other bands on the roster and are proud to be alongside
them for years to come. One thing is for sure: some people may have
heard about us because of the 'Battle for Ozzfest' show, but we're a
dedicated band with over 5 years in the scene, not just some reality
show poseurs looking to extend our 15 minutes of fame. No doubt that
"Battle for Ozzfest' was a great opportunity, but we're grateful
that CM saw through smoke and mirrors of TV and saw us for the band
we are. Bottom line, we're here to bring the fucking metal. See ya on
the road."
You can see Manntis live on the Battle For Ozzfest tour. “Battle
For Ozzfest” aired on MTV from Oct. 25th – Jan. 10th on
Monday nights. At the open-call auditions held in Los Angeles and New
York City, Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne got a first-hand look at some of
the most talented bands from all over America. After many long weeks,
the battle had finally come to an end. And now we present you the Top-3
on tour - ‘A Dozen Furies,’ ‘Manntis.’ And ‘Curse
Your Name.’ These 3 bands beat out over 600 bands to compete on
MTV’s “Battle For Ozzfest.”
A Dozen Furies, the Dallas-based metal outfit has landed side-by-side
with some of metal’s most popular contemporary acts (including
Chimaira, Sworn Enemy, 18Visions, As I Lay Dying, and The Bled). The
future looks just as busy and productive for the band, as they plan
on writing and releasing their first full length record and touring
all summer long on Ozzfest 2005. www.adozenfuries.com
Manntis is a five piece band From the Riverside county area of Southern
California. Their sound of music cannot really be labeled into a certain
category of style due to the fact it reaches so many different types.
The best way you could describe would be Hardcore with a lot of metal
influences. Many bands have influenced the members through the years
including Deftones, Pantera, Killswitch Engage, Boy sets Fire, Zao,
Machine Head, Sepultura, Meshuggah, Hatebreed and Lamb of God. www.manntis.com
Curse Your Name, from bucolic North Carolina is a 6-piece unit that
knows no boundaries when it comes to climbing to the top. This is not
a band that relies solely on one type of sound; it’s all over
the radar, ranging from slow and psychotically peaceful melodies to
fast-paced and aggressive chaos. www.curseyourname.com

- NAGLFAR SET TO RELEASE PARIAH JULY 12
Swedish black metal titans NAGLFAR's new beast Pariah will be unleashed
in the US July 12th. Abysmally wicked Pariah is a flawless work of iniquitous
hell-spawned art filled with raging guitar riffs, bludgeoning drums,
demonic vocals, that combine with haunting melodies to capture hell's
eternal depravity. Battle axemen guitarists Andreas Nilsson and Marcus
Norman return with their triumphantly vicious six-stringed assault,
while drummer Mattias Grahn relentlessly drives the band's frenetic
attack. Assuming vocal duties is founding member and bassist Kristoffer
Olivius replacing Jens Ryden, who left for job-related reasons. Returning
to Ballerina Studios in hometown Umea, Sweden, where their two previous
releases, Sheol and Diabolical, were recorded, NAGLFAR have again imprisoned
a monstrous leviathan. Ralph Manfreda (Pungent Stench, Belphegor) provides
impious artwork that turns the aural assault into visual onslaught.
Currently touring Europe with Finntroll and Amoral NAGLFAR will also
be appearing this summer at Germany's eminent Wacken Open-Air and Finland's
Tuska Fest. Metal

- FORMER FEAR FACTORY MEMBERS ASKED TO REPLACE FORMER S.O.D. MEMBERS
[Source: Blabbermouth.net]
Former FEAR FACTORY guitarist Dino Cazares and drummer Raymond Herrera
have been contacted by S.O.D. frontman Billy Milano about the possibility
of replacing Scott Ian and Charlie Benante (both of ANTHRAX), respectively,
in the current S.O.D. line-up, Herrera has revealed to BLABBERMOUTH.NET.
Although initial discussions between Milano and the ex-FEAR FACTORY
pair had taken place, Billy's requirement that the duo commit to the
group on a full-time basis was met with resistance from Cazares and
Herrera, both of whom are in the process of launching new projects that
will take up the bulk of their time during the coming months.
Although there has been no official word from either side, it is believed
that Milano's efforts to replace Ian and Benante in S.O.D. stem from
the highly-publicized disagreements between the parties over Billy and
former ANTHRAX/current S.O.D. bassist Danny Lilker's exclusion from
the recently-aired VH1 Behind The Music special on ANTHRAX, which Ian
had publicly admitted minimized Lilker's contributions to the group.

- BLIND GUARDIAN sign with NUCLEAR BLAST
The worldwide staff of NUCLEAR BLAST is immensely proud to announce
the addition of a new member to the family - BLIND GUARDIAN. One of
the most significant and successful international power metal bands
who "reinvented classic metal for a younger audience" according
to Metal Edge, the trademarked BLIND GUARDIAN experience is described
as a "larger-than-life sound which incorporates the harmonies and
drama of Queen with an aggressive, modern sensibility" by Billboard
Magazine.
Regarding the long-term signing, BLIND GUARDIAN singer Hansi Kursch
happily shares, "Our long search for the perfect record company
has ended. We finally were lucky to find the ultimate home - NUCLEAR
BLAST! Some things you decide with your head, other things you deal
with on a gut level. The decision for NUCLEAR BLAST was both! We placed
great emphasis on finding a partner that knows the world of Heavy Metal
and does business in an unconventional manner, if necessary. NUCLEAR
BLAST can offer both of these key qualities, and proved so time and
time again in the past.
But this alone would not be enough, if the chemistry wasn't there, but
our first meetings could only be described as: 'We came, ate, and laughed&'
Our views on music in general and BLIND GUARDIAN in particular are almost
identical! The whole NUCLEAR BLAST team impressed us a lot with their
unity and the huge identification with their mission and the expansion
of the Metal world. Now we have the unique chance to follow our musical
vision in the perfect environment. We expect a lot, and so do NUCLEAR
BLAST. Let's roll! The Guardian comes home!"
NUCLEAR BLAST Label Manager and A&R Head Andy Siry is equally thrilled.
"We are all very happy about the amount of trust BLIND GUARDIAN
has put in us. The beginning of this cooperation will surely prove to
be very productive and fruitful. Our distribution partners and the whole
of NUCLEAR BLAST are ready to kick ass!" Metal

- NEVERMORE Complete Recording Process For This Godless Endeavor;
Remixed Enemies of Reality Now Available
The Seattle-based quintet NEVERMORE recently completed the recording
process for their highly anticipated new album, This Godless Endeavor,
at Backstage Studios in England with legendary producer Andy Sneap (Arch
Enemy, Killswitch Engage, Opeth). The highly anticipated new offering
is currently set for a summer release. This will mark the group's first
recording with guitarist Steve Smyth (ex-Testament).
NEVERMORE will embark on massive six-week summer festival tour, dubbed
the Gigantour, alongside Megadeth, Dream Theater, Fear Factory and The
Dillinger Escape Plan in late July. Warrel Dane (vocals) further describes
his thoughts on the new album and upcoming tour: "We have completed
the recording process for This Godless Endeavor and Andy Sneap will
finish mixing and mastering the record this week. It was a great experience
working with Sneap again and he has really outdone himself on this record.
We are also really psyched up for Gigantour. It's great to part of a
tour that is focused on musicianship instead of current trends. This
summer is going to be great."
In other news, the new version of the group's critically acclaimed 2003
album Enemies of Reality, remixed by Sneap, is now available. It was
repackaged with altered cover artwork, two promotional video clips (the
title track and "I, Voyager") and a live video of the title
track performed at Germany's Wacken Open Air festival this past summer.
The remixed Enemies of Reality will replace the existing version of
the album in stores. Fans who have already purchased the record and
want to hear the new edition can special order it from the CenturyMedia.com
web shop, where the CD itself will be sold individually (i.e., without
jewel case and artwork) for $5, including shipping. The disc will be
mailed in a CD sleeve; a link to a special website containing the downloadable
revised artwork will be included in order confirmation e-mails.

- CANDIRIA Awarded $29 Million For 2002 Van Crash
[Source: Blabbermouth.net]
The New York Post is reporting that the five members of the Brooklyn-based
CANDIRIA won a $29 million verdict Tuesday (April 12) for injuries they
suffered when a truck hit their tour van.
CANDIRIA were hurt as they traveled to a gig in Cleveland on Sept. 9,
2002, when a tractor trailer owned by Paige Transportation Inc. hit
them near Buffalo, said attorney Daniel O'Toole.
The crash sent their van rolling over five to seven times, and all the
members received injuries, attorneys for the band members said. The
band still performs, but two injured members left.
The aftermath of the crash is documented on the cover of the band's
latest album, What Doesn't Kill You.., with photos of the band's demolished
van.
What Doesn't Kill You... was released last July through Type A Records.

- Police Confirm DIMEBAG's Murderer Was Dragged Off DAMAGEPLAN Stage
In Cincinnati
[Source: Blabbermouth.net]
John Futty of The Columbus Dispatch has issued the following report:
Nathan Gale was dragged off the stage at a DAMAGEPLAN concert in Cincinnati
eight months before killing the band's lead guitarist and three others
at a concert in Columbus.
Yesterday (April 12), Columbus police confirmed that Gale caused a disturbance
on stage at Bogart's nightclub on April 5, 2004.
According to reports filed by Cincinnati police, Gale damaged lighting
equipment during a struggle with security while DAMAGEPLAN performed
about 12:30 a.m.
Officers who responded to a 911 call filed a report labeling the offense
as criminal damaging/endangering, but no charges were filed. The band
didn't seek charges, police said.
The incident seemed of little significance until Dec. 8, when Gale stormed
the stage at Alrosa Villa in Columbus and fatally shot DAMAGEPLAN guitarist
"Dimebag" Darrell Abbott before turning his 9 mm semiautomatic
handgun on those who tried to intervene. A fan, a club employee and
the band's security chief were killed and three others wounded before
a Columbus police officer ended the rampage by killing Gale with a shotgun
blast.
The manager of Alrosa Villa said yesterday that he is upset that no
one alerted him to the Cincinnati incident.
"It makes me furious that that happened in Cincinnati and continued
on at Alrosa," Rick Cautela said.
Sgt. Jeff Sacksteder, of the Columbus police homicide squad, said investigators
might never know whether the incident in Cincinnati was linked to the
shootings in Columbus.
"That's been theorized," he said. "There may have been
a bridge, but the other part of this is what (Gale) was going through
mentally."
Gale, a 25-year-old Marysville resident, told his mother and a former
employer that he was diagnosed as paranoid schizophrenic before being
discharged from the Marines in 2003.
Shortly after the shootings in Columbus, rumors began circulating among
fans and on heavy-metal-music Web sites about a man who had caused a
disturbance during DAMAGEPLAN's performance at Bogart's. Metal

- SCULPTURED is continuing to write music for their third as of yet
untitled full-length album. The new material is a large step ahead from
Apollo Ends and will continue to push the boundaries of Metal harmony.
The music is being written using four-tone matrix systems that provide
the foundational guitar riffs and harmonies. This is death metal for
brave new ears. Due to Anderson's continued work with Agalloch, there
is no estimation for when this album will be recorded or released. Metal

- Former BELIEVER drummer Joey Daub has launched his official web site
at JoeyDaub.com. Joey's
introductory message on the web site reads as follows:
"Currently, I am working on the new FOUNTAIN OF TEARS CD. I can't
wait to get it out and hear your feedback. I am very pleased with the
progress this band has made over the years and look forward to seeing
you out on the road.
"Also in the works is a side project I am doing with FOUNTAIN OF
TEARS keyboardist, Jeff King. The project is called YEAR OF PLENTY and
is along the lines of jazz/fusion/prog. We are having a fun time writing
the songs (when FOUNTAIN OF TEARS duties are light), and look forward
to start recording soon.
"Last of all, after 11 years, Kurt Bachman [ex-BELIEVER guitarist/vocalist]
and I have crossed paths again and have been getting together to jam
(again, when FOUNTAIN OF TEARS duties are light) and throw around some
musical ideas. Could this be the start of a long awaited BELIEVER album?
Keep posted for progress on that story. We will see what happens."
- KLIMT 1918 - Dopoguerra (out 25.04.2005)
free mp3 at http://promedia.semperatus.de/mp3/klimt1918_snow-of-85.mp3
Nine pieces of comforting, emotional music. Nine songs informed by the
intensity of laughter born of tears"
"Our model for 'Dopoguerra' are the poor people living in Italy
in 1945, having survived the war and now being confronted by the future,"
the band explains the album's concept.
"We were inspired by the poetry of neo-realistic cinema, directors
such as De Sica, Rossellini, Visconti. We translated all that into our
music to convey a feeling of ambiguity to the listeners: salvation and
despair at the same time." The musical influences combined by KLIMT
1918 are determined by the fact that they describe their artistic agenda
as something beyond mere pastiche of others' works. Their songs are
deeply ingrained with originality and boundless musicality even though
they might remind you of such diverse artists as the Beatles, Cure,
Interpol, Tears For Fears, U2, The Police, Katatonia, or Anathema.
"It is our aim," the band says, "to move the listeners
of our music." A simple agenda, one could argue. With KLIMT 1918,
however, it succeeded so brilliantly and charming as rarely is the case.
"Dopoguerra" will be released as normal jewel case edition
for a special price and as luxuary edition in digipak with bonus CD.
- Norway's GREEN CARNATION will be making their North American debut
as headliner at the Day Of The Equinox festival on Friday, October 14
at The Opera House in Toronto, Canada. Other groups expected to appear
at the festival incude Oregon's moody/atmospheric act AGALLOCH and Montreal's
ambitious UNEXPECT. A co-headliner and other special guests will be
announced in mid-May.
GREEN CARNATION's founder/guitarist Tchort commented: "GREEN CARNATION
is overwhelmingly excited about this inter-continental show in Toronto
and are preparing a unique live set for such a special occasion. We
think
it's fair to say that those who attend will see GREEN CARNATION give
its most progressive and atmospheric show EVER! Since it's our first
show over there, we
find it to be vital that we cover the material from all our three latest
albums. That means we have three hours of music to choose from. We don't
want to reveal
the whole live show, but we can tease you a bit and say that we decided
to do an extended live set to include a major part of 'Light of Day,
Day of Darkness', as well as material from 'Blessing in Disguise' and
'The Quiet Offspring'. This will be a
special event from us to you."
