HOLLYWOOD, CA – Pestilence returns after 15 years of deathlike silence to release the brand new studio album Resurrection Macabre. It’s a stunning musical statement that will bring the band back to the forefront of the international death metal community. The album is a display of the timeless power of brutal death metal with modern day technique and skill of experienced musicians. The brand new album was recorded in Denmark, with producer Jacob Hansen. The new incarnation of Pestilence consists of original band member Patrick Mameli, the American bass wizard Tony Choy (Atheist, Cynic, a.o.) and powerhouse drummer Peter Wildoer (Arch Enemy, Darkane, a.o.). Guitar player Patrick Uterwijk will join the band for the live shows. “When so many people asked to resurrect Pestilence it got me thinking’” explains Patrick Mameli. “For many years it was a closed chapter. I have always been very clear about that. The last couple of years I discovered, to my amazement, that the band had not been forgotten, but still meant a lot to many fans. So there were a few things that got the ball rolling. First of all the fans. I also noticed that old school death metal was making a come-back. It did wet my appetite. I discovered that I felt the urge to get involved again with the great musical tradition that is death metal. I wanted to leave my own mark again. Another important factor was that I knew that with Tony Choy and Peter Wildoer by my side I had found the right people to make this dream come true. These guys are both absolutely stunning musicians. Simply the best one could wish for. Their creative input on the album is invaluable.” The result of many months of hard work is aptly titled Resurrection Macabre. The new album has everything to offer that a fan of Pestilence – old and new – possibly could wish for. And more. It has the dark atmosphere, brutal vocals, sheer power and technical skills – always the trademarks of Pestilence. Patrick Mameli stresses that his band is not going to take the easy ride of nostalgia. ,,I don’t want to rely on successes of the past. This is not a reunion, but a second life for Pestilence. That’s why we wanted to mark our comeback with a new studio album. Stylistically it goes back to the days of Consuming Impulse and Testimony Of the Ancients, but it’s also apparent that time did not stand still. I am a better musician than a was back then. Compared to the old days the technical possibilities are limitless.” Another link to the glory days of the past are the three old Pestilence songs that get a new life on the new album: Chemo Therapy, Out Of the Body and Lost Souls, all coming from the first two Pestilence albums. ,,It seemed like a good idea to connect ourselves to our musical past. On February 16th, FILTER traveled to Iraq and Kuwait for the second time to perform for some of our bravest troops. Hitting Camp Balad & FOB Warrior (Kirkuk) in Iraq and Camp Buehring in Kuwait on their Stars for Stripes Tour. The group experienced the instability of the region, when they were only able to perform 3 of the 5 scheduled dates due to an unforeseen sandstorm. The band experienced some of the dangers of battle while at Camp Kirkuk when the base came under mortar attack. New Album American Soldier Available March 31 From Atco/Rhino; U.S. Tour To Begin April 16 In Seattle LOS ANGELES -- "If I Were King," the first single from Queensrÿche's highly anticipated new album AMERICAN SOLDIER, is now available for download from all digital retailers. "If I Were King" was written based on an interview lead singer Geoff Tate conducted with Sean Lenahan, a veteran of U.S. conflicts in Somalia and Kosovo. Some chilling sound bites from Tate's interview with Lenahan can be heard at various points in the song. The song is also streaming at myspace.com/queensryche. "This is a song about loss and healing," says Tate. "A soldier who lost his friend in a firefight and spent a lot of time afterwards struggling with his feelings, wishing he could have done more to save his friend. The song is saying if I were king, if I could do anything, I'd have you back in my life again, back by my side. I thought that was a very interesting and inspiring viewpoint." Queensrÿche has also set up the phone number (206) 260-1215 for fans to call and get updates on the new album and tour directly from Tate himself. The number also has an option where fans and soldiers can leave a message for the band. Iacono offered the following progress report on the recording process: "Well the sun is shinning today; I have completed the vocals for EX DEO's Debut album ‘Romulus’! I needed to capture the emotions of the songs that J-F Dagenais (KATAKLYSM) and company put together and I feel I succeeded. Jonathan Leduc from BLACKGUARD has done an incredible job on the symphony parts for this album! Songs like the ‘LEGIO XIII’ ( the 13th Legion) are so epic you feel you’re literally in Rome on the battlegrounds! Francois Mongrain from MARTYR is almost done tracking the bass lines. The Finnish metal band NORTHER has announced the departure of long-time singer/guitarist Petri Lindroos and published the following statement: “NORTHER was forced to let Petri go to be able to continue. Petri's full time engagement in Ensiferum increasingly prevented NORTHER from functioning as an active band. Petri wishes NORTHER all the best for the future. The current NORTHER crew, Kristian, Jukka, Tuomas and Heikki wants to thank Petri for all these great years together and wishes him the best of luck with Ensiferum.” NORTHER was founded in 2000 and has so far released five full length albums, 2 EPs, a DVD, four singles and a movie soundtrack for the Finnish film V2. The group – which is comprised of Rob Thorne (vocals, guitar), Bill Smith (Guitar), Scott Waite (Bass), and Kenny Evans (drums) – are preparing to release their latest offering, 'Sacred Oath.' Release dates for both the standard and deluxe version of the CD have been set for May 12th (US, Canada) . The official version contains 10 songs in a jewel case. Why two editions? "Pricing, really" says Rob Thorne. March 25th, 2009	KORPIKLAANI Singer Checks in From the Studio! KORPIKLAANI mainman Jonne Järvelä has issued the following statement regarding the band´s progress in the studio recording the follow up to 2008´s Korven Kuningas: “Currently we are busy recording the 13 songs for Karkelo (translates into pleasure, party), our upcoming album. In a relaxed atmosphere we have been working together to record the songs for the upcoming album Karkelo. The recordings started in a beautiful rural environment at the famous Petrax studio in Hollola. This studio is created in the buildings of a still working farm of the Rappula family; who are farming there since 1577. This studio is very well known, many worldwide famous bands record here. When we entered the place, the booze smell of CHILDREN OF BODOM, who just recorded their latest album here, hit our noses, we ourselves only added a little to that (laughs). During last year the homemade first versions of the songs were spread among the band. Then we all rehearsed the songs together. In this first week in the studio we played all songs again, and after listening to the recordings we worked them over to adjust and improve them. Of course we want Karkelo to be as good as it can be. Being in the Petrax studio really fitted to the album title, it was such a pleasure to be there that it was a party in itself. Not just the technical aspects were outstanding, but also the excellent catering by Tiina, and the housing were sheer pleasure. We always ended the recording days quite late, after which we sometimes went to the sauna, or just stayed at the fireplace in a room downstairs, where we ate and drank something and discussed the songs. We felt so good here, that Hittavainen even stayed one more day after we finished our stay there, he just was not able to say goodbye to the good life there. Since the Petrax studio is housed in a working farm, we were asked from time to time to lend a helping hand to the farm work, which was a welcome change during the recordings. In the recordings you can faintly hear the barking of the big farm dog Rolle, and ‘Landlord’ Petri Rappula driving on and off on his tractor, which added a little more bass to Matson’s drums! It all added to the homely feelings and the atmosphere of the songs. Not surprising that we are considering to go back to this studio for every album from now. I felt so well there, that he dreams of buying a piece from their forests to built a house on, if Karkelo sales will afford that! The recordings are supervised by Aksu Hanttu, who luckily is, besides a fine guy, very demanding, and he certainly contributed to the improvements of the songs. Aksu is the drummer of ENTWINE and since they have to play gigs, we have to interrupt the recordings every now and then. Therefore the recordings will take probably till the middle of March. Afterwards the mixing will start, which will take about a week. The drums are fully recorded already. This week Jonne started recording his guitar parts, followed by Cane and then comes Jarkko’s turn, and so on. The traditional instruments are recorded last, just before the vocals. We changed to the Grooveland studio in Lahti this week, because it is more convenient to go there during the short intervals between the ENTWINE gigs.
