  • DARK FORTRESS - premiere new video clip @ YouTube! Album out now! On tour in March!

German black metal act DARK FORTRESS has just premiered its stunning new video clip for the song “Edge Of Night” taken from their new album “Eidolon” (OUT NOW!) on YouTube, watch it by clicking HERE.

Guitarist V. Santura comments on the new video as follows:

“It’s great to finally present our fans the first-ever DARK FORTRESS promo video, which should be an excellent & sophisticated alternative to all the lame clips with crappy sound that are uploaded to YouTube usually. The “Edge Of Night” clip was filmed at an abandoned church and should captivate anybody with its dark and morbid atmosphere!”

  • MERCENARY - post studio report part II, finish video shoot & more

Danish metal act MERCENARY has just posted the second part of its studio report for their highly anticipated new effort “Architect Of Lies” at YouTube, so click HERE to check out some further impressions from the album recordings with producer Jacob Hansen!

Furthermore, the band has posted the following update on its MySpace blog:
“As a teaser for our upcoming video for the track 'Isolation', we've posted a few pics from the shooting that took place the previous weekend @ www.myspace.com/mercenarydenmark. Everything went really smoothly, and director Morten Madsen (who also directed the video for “My World is Ending”) had some really great ideas, which involved, to name a few, a near naked girl on a bed, a near naked girl in a shower (all very tasteful and classy, mind you) and oh yeah, of course also something about some guys standing about in cool lights with instruments. Whatever that was all about. Anyway, the few raw shots we've seen so far already looked really bad ass. A big thank-u goes out to the fans who volunteered to act as extras in the video - you guys rocked!

Moreover we also just played some of our greatest shows ever supporting Megadeth in Denmark and Germany. It was a total blast watching them every night and a great honour being there at all. On top of that everybody in the crew and the band were very friendly and (of course) super pro's and we were treated extremely well. To state the obvious, we're of course looking very much forward to the last two shows we have with Megadeth in March - hope to catch lots of you guys out there!”
The band will be heading out as direct support for Bay Area legend Death Angel in April, see below for the exact dates!

  • ABORTED - New album contest! Deadline: This weeks Saturday!

Don´t miss this great opportunity and contribute your lyrics to the new ABORTED album. Mastermind Sven Dé Caluwe posted the following statement:

“As usual we always want to involve the fans as closely as we can, for "The Archaic Abattoir" we did the victim list & evidence bag, for "Slaughter & Apparatus" we invited fans to join us in our videoshoot for "The Chondrin Enigma". This album should be no different, ABORTED would be nothing without the help of the fans & that is the way it will always be. This time we thought of involving you all in the creation of the new album!

So we are launching a contest, songwriting has been entirely done for the album & artwork is near completion. However, we didn't finish one lyric/songtitle for one of the tracks on the new album & this was the perfect opportunity to involve all you guys/girls in offering us what you think could be a perfect songtitle/idea for this final track on the new album!

Send in your submissions to [email protected], songtitles should obviously fit ABORTED & the themes we handle or something that can relate to it. If you have a clear idea, documentation is always welcome. Also include your full name in the email and adress.

The winner will be announced upon finishing the recordings & will be credited in the booklet/myspace and receive a free copy of the new record.

Deadline for this is this weeks Saturday at noon (!!!), so move fast if you want to be part of the record!
    Cheers, Sven/Aborted“

  • HELLHAMMER - “Demon Entrails” out now! Special website launched, order it now!

With the release of “Demon Entrails” the days of numerous sub-standard bootlegs of the classic HELLHAMMER demos “Death Fiend”, “Triumph of Death” and “Satanic Rites” are finally over! “Demon Entrails” has been released as an opulent oversized double CD media-book as well as a gatefold triple vinyl album. Both versions feature a lavish booklet and a poster. A bare-bones lower-price CD version is also available.

To celebrate this pinnacle release a new website (www.demonentrails.com) has been created where fans can order all three versions at a special price for a limited time only. The site also features album cover art and complete track listings. Furthermore, the songs “Messiah” & “Blood Insanity” have been posted at the official HELLHAMMER MySpace site, so head over to:

“Demon Entrails” has been specially re-mastered from copies of the original master tapes under the supervision of Tom Gabriel Fischer, and the demos now represent HELLHAMMER exactly as the band sounded when recording these songs in June and December of 1983. Drawing from a wealth of previously unknown historical liner-notes material and artwork as well as plenty of unreleased HELLHAMMER photos from 1982 to 1984, “Demon Entrails” features all lyrics and essays detailing the individual demo recording sessions.

“Demon Entrails” is an essential piece of black metal history!

N.Y. Prog-Metal Pioneers Will Go on Road with Opeth, Between the Buried and Me and 3 for 21-date North American Tour to Promote GREATEST HIT Album

LOS ANGELES -- N.Y. progressive metal pioneers Dream Theater will embark on its 21-date North American "Progressive Nation" tour starting May 2 at Los Angeles' Gibson Amphitheatre and concluding June 1 in Tampa, FL, highlighted by two shows at New York's brand-new Terminal 5 (May 21-22), which sold out in just two days.

Opening acts Opeth, Between the Buried and Me and 3 were personally picked by Dream Theater drummer Mike Portnoy, who helped organize the tour: "I've wanted to do something that focuses on the more progressive, musician-oriented side of hard rock and metal for 10 years now," he says. "I decided it was time to stop talking the talk, lace up and finally walk the walk."

The tour will be preceded on April 1 by the release of Dream Theater's GREATEST HIT (...and 21 Other Pretty Cool Songs) on Rhino, the album's tongue-in-cheek title refers to "Pull Me Under," the first and only major radio hit for the quintet; this is the band's first-ever best-of compilation, spanning 14 years and 22 songs, featuring rare edits, B-sides and three new Kevin Shirley mixes. The two discs are divided into "The Dark Side" (the metallic) and "The Light Side" (the melodic), with songs ranging from their sophomore 1992 release, Images and Words, through 2005's Octavarium.

The band's 22-year career has seen them sell more than 8 million albums worldwide, with their last three DVDs each having gone platinum. The band has been on the road since June 2007, playing to growing crowds in Asia, Australia and South America, on the "Chaos in Motion" world tour in support of their most recent Roadrunner Records studio album, Systematic Chaos, one of the most successful of their career. "Forsaken," the second video from the disc, shot in Japanese anime, recently debuted on MTV 2's Headbangers Ball after "Constant Motion" was voted #2 Video of the Year by viewers of the show last year. They were featured as Artist of the Month on Microsoft Xbox Live in December 2007

The group continues to grow its fan base all over the world, including Central and South America, Europe, Asia and Australia. Dream Theater topped the bill for the 2005 Gigantour alongside Megadeth, and has also co-headlined with both Queensryche and Joe Satriani. On April 1, 2006, the band played New York's Radio City Music Hall, a show which sold out in just three days.

Battle Kommand Records is proud to announce our next CD release, the debut album from Canada's GLORIA DIABOLI, entitled Gate To Sheol.

This band is the North American answer to true Satanic black metal acts such as Watain, Ofermod, Funeral Mist, etc. The band performs a martial, orthodox form of black metal, fueled by ferocity and hellfire. Aggressive, ugly and well-recorded, this attack will yet again prove that Canada's ever-extreme Vancouver, BC-area black metal scene has spawned some of the ugliest metal of our time, and alongside countrymen BLASPHEMY, AXIS OF ADVANCE, WITCHES HAMMER, ALLFATHER, CONQUEROR and REVENGE, Gloria Diaboli are now leaving their mark on this important regions history of violent and chaotic metal.

Gate To Sheol was mastered @ Necromorbus Studio in Sweden (Watain, Malign, Averse Sefira, Ofermod, etc).
Gate To Sheol features 7 tracks.
    1. The Kingdom of Filth And Decay
    2. Above As It Is Below
    3. Gloria Diaboli
    4. Gate To Sheol
    5. Libation Unto He who Dwelleth in the Depths
    6. Omega Throne
    7. Oh, Great Deceiver

Released on CD / digitally in North America on Battle Kommand Records.
Released on CD in Europe by Total Holocaust Records, Sweden.

  • AMEBIX To Reissue Classic Thrash Album as Sliding Scale Download

Crust/thrash legends AMEBIX have announced they will reissue their classic 1987 album 'Monolith' through Moshpit Tragedy Records as part of the label's sliding scale download series. The nine-song album will soon be available from www.moshpit-tragedy.com complete with a print-ready sleeve for as much or as little as each visitor chooses and will even being offered for free to those without a paypal account.

Rob "The Baron" Milller (AMEBIX vocalist/bassist) writes on his myspace page: "Just a note to let people know that Monolith will be available as a sliding scale download very soon through Moshpit Tragedy. This seems like a good way to re-release material, giving the user the choice of what or how much they want to pay, so kind of a trust thing really, lets see how that goes."

Comments label founder Rayny Forster: "Anyone who knows AMEBIX will tell you how massive their influence has been on thrash and crust punk, so for us to be able to reissue an album from the band that pioneered the genres of music that we are releasing today is really fucking cool. The fact that the band would authorize a sliding-scale download release from a DIY label such as ourselves shows what ethic and sincerity has always been behind the band and their lifestyle. I hope people will pay what they can for this as AMEBIX never received any payment for this album since it was released 20 years ago. Nevertheless we are thrilled to be able to help preserve their legacy."

AMEBIX was formed in England during 1978 and are a band that many consider to have started the sub genre crust punk. The band first appeared on the first Crass Records 'Bullshit Detector' compilation LP followed by the release of several now highly-regarded releases. Their music was heavily influenced by Motörhead, Black Sabbath, Venom, and early Killing Joke and combined with an ethos and worldview akin to Crass, represented their non-traditional lifestyles. In 1985 the band met Jello Biafra of Dead Kennedys and become the first UK signing to his label, Alternative Tentacles with the release of their 'Arise' LP. In 1987 the band signed to Heavy Metal Records for the album 'Monolith' though difficulties from the release led to the band eventually splitting. Such notable bands as Sepultura, Neurosis, Napalm Death, and Deviated Instinct have since paid homage to the band.

An audio sample of the song 'Time Bomb' is available at www.myspace.com/mptrecords.

  • DAYLIGHT DIES gear up for tour and album release

North Carolina-based Daylight Dies are readying themselves for a busy spring with their upcoming tour alongside Candlemass and release of their third album, Lost to the Living. The tour, set to kick off May 19, finds the band in direct support to the Swedish metal legends and represents their second national tour since signing with Candlelight Records in late 2005. The cross-country tour wraps up two weeks prior to the anticipated June 24 album release date.

In the final mixing process at Fascination Street Studios/Sweden by Jens Bogren (Opeth, Amon Amarth, Katatonia), Lost to the Living features nine new songs from the cherished doom metal band. Working with Travis Smith (Opeth, Soilwork, Katatonia) for the album’s packaging, it promises to be another fan and critic favorite. Track listing as of press time (not confirmed running order) is Cathedral, Descending, A Subtle Violence, And a Slow Surrender, Last Alone, Woke Up Lost, The Morning Light, At a Loss, A Portrait in White. Video footage from the album’s recording process is exclusively available at the band’s official website (www.daylightdies.com).

Formed in 1996, Daylight Dies drummer Jesse Haff and guitarist Barre Gambling slowly crafted songs that would make their appearance on the band’s 2002 debut No Reply (Relapse). Terrorizer Magazine called the album "memorable and engaging." Outburn Magazine proclaimed it "pristine doom metal," while Digital Metal found it to be "a combination of dark melody and deathly aggression." The quintet would tour Europe with Katatonia and perform with Lacuna Coil throughout the US and Canada before writing processes would begin on new material. Their second album, the impressive Dismantling Devotion, was released March 2006 via Candlelight Records. Revolver Magazine called it “an epic slab of gloom metal that's equal parts apocalyptic rage and suicidal sorrow.” Terrorizer Magazine again applauded the band noting the album as “an epic journey as thoughtful and compellingly musical as it is bleak and vengeful... essential.” Another US tour, this time with Moonspell and friends Katatonia, the band including vocalist Nathan Ellis, bassist Egan O’Rourke, guitarist Charley Shackelford, together with Gambling and Haff completed 2006 on an all-time high. Outside of a few local performances the five-piece spent much of 2007 crafting the material that finds itself on Lost for the Living.

"Everyone is taking a little time to catch their breath after working hard on bringing Lost to the Living to life,” says Haff. “We've continued to refine the music up until the last minute it was recorded and we all feel confident this is the strongest album we've made. As stated previously, the material is a mix of beautiful melancholic leads and harsh dissonant rhythms; despair driven hooks and the overall dark atmosphere you've come to expect from us. After an exhausting recording process, the one thing on all of our minds is the upcoming tour. We can't wait."

    Hi folks,

Here are the latest news from us.

As somebody already read on our homepage or in different forums, we signed a cooperation deal with the italian label Cruz del Sur. As first works of this cooperation we will release CRESCENT SHIELD "The last of my kind" and PHARAOH "The longest Night" on vinyl. We are putting all resources on it to be ready at the KIT X, on which both bands will play. To guarantee the best possible sound quality both records will be released as double vinyl in gatefold cover due to their length.

Additionally we got the rights to release all 4 albums of the US-Metalheads SEASONS OF THE WOLF on vinyl. However until the release of these some time will pass.

For 2 of the upcoming CD-Releases a releasedate is stated now. IVORY TOWER "Subjective Enemy" and AGAMENDON "Nuclear Rodeo" will be availbale in stores on 9th may 2008. Additionally the releaseparty of AGAMENDON will be on 19th april in the Matrix, Bochum.

  • DEADSEA... stoner prog thrash on the attack

DEADSEA formed in 2003 when veteran composer-guitarist-vocalist Adam Smith decided to fuse his love of metal, doom and free music to create a trio that would provide "apocalyptic visions for positive ascendance". He found a perfect foil in longtime friend and bassist Alex Conley, who had spent six years as guitarist and composer in bizzaro hardcore band Three Studies For A Crucifixion. This combination of ideas make up the unique sound of DEADSEA: metal mutation, passion is law, and the rest of the rules are thrown on the fire. In February 2006, a new and vicious addition, drummer Jeremy Spears, was brought into the mix. Spears brings the technical discipline DEADSEA's music requires along with an enthusiasm for testing new boundaries that improvisation allows.

In May 2005, Desiderata was released on indie label Chrome Leaf Records (Melt Banana, Portal, Dead Child), receiving universal acclaim in the local press despite lengthy songs such as the 22 minute opus "Salem." By this time the DEADSEA live experience had become legendary in the area. Their epic versatility led audiences through extended noise freak-outs, all synthesizer sets and unrelenting doom punishment. People were leaving shows with mouths agape and national acts were scared of their powers.

Now available is the band's latest venture; the self-titled release on Chrome Leaf Records. Extensive touring in 2008 is already being mapped out with Earsplit PR running the publicity machine. DEADSEA are label shopping their newest opus in hopes of garnering interest to a larger audience.

“After five years of not playing any live shows, RYKER’S will return this year for various festivals and club shows to simply kick some ass again… The reason for that is easy to explain: We all feel the desire to rock again and we seriously missed the stage, the crowd, the chaos…"

  • NEURAXIS enters the studio to record new record, offers first web episode

Canadian tech-thrashers NEURAXIS will enter the studio February 19 with producer Jef Fortin (of fellow Canadians Anonymous) to record the band’s fifth studio album. The recording process will be done in late March and is scheduled to be mastered by Alan Douches (Mastodon, Converge, Shadows Fall), and will feature artwork from Dennis Sibeijn of Damnengine Art (Job For A Cowboy, Chimaira). The yet-untitled effort should see a July release through Prosthetic Records.

"We feel this album will be something monumental for NEURAXIS,” says guitarist Rob Milley. “With the new line-up and the energy we have created in the writing sessions, it’s something that is new and refreshing, yet still retains a lot of the essence of what NEURAXIS has built since day one."

The new album will be the first studio album featuring new vocalist Alex Leblanc and guitarist William Seghers, both having appeared on the recently released Live Progression, via Galy Records. Live Progression is the live follow-up to NEURAXIS’ last studio album, 2005's Trilateral Progression. More details, tour dates, and regular in-studio footage updates will be available shortly. The first web episode is online now here: http://www.youtube.com/neuraxismetal and features sneak previews of new songs, as well as commentary in both English and French Canadian on the new material.

The “SOMEWHERE BACK IN TIME – WORLD TOUR 08” was inspired by Maiden’s recently released DVD, LIVE AFTER DEATH (New Door Records/Ume). Filmed and recorded over four spectacular nights at Long Beach Arena on the “Powerslave Tour” in 1985, this has long been a benchmark for rock concert videos and live albums, and the CD remains one of the biggest-selling live albums ever with sales in excess of six million worldwide. With the video having been largely unavailable for many years, the fan’s massive interest in this legendary concert continues to this day with the DVD debuting at No. 1 on charts around the world (including The UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Australia, New Zealand, Denmark and Finland), as well as No 2 on the Billboard USA Chart and in Canada.

This tour revisits the band’s history by focusing almost entirely on their classic 80’s period in both choice of songs played and the stage set, which is based around the legendary Egyptian Production of that ‘Powerslave Tour’ as portrayed on the Live After Death DVD. This will arguably be the most elaborate and spectacular show the band have ever presented. Furthermore the band intends to bring along for this summer leg of the tour the colossal mummy of Eddie, as featured on the Live After Death DVD, along with various other elements of the show that would not fit on their 757 on the first leg of this tour, which included the shows at the Forum and Izod Centre. Sadly no jumbo has a door big enough to fit in such a massive and imposing monster!!!

Says vocalist Bruce Dickinson ; “We are all greatly looking forward to getting back to see our fans in places like Texas, the South West and Seattle where we haven’t played for quite some time. And for this leg we will be able to bring along all Eddie’s toys which we couldn’t get on our plane during the first leg. We are all having a great time on this tour and really can’t believe the excitement it is creating round the world and the huge numbers of people who are turning out to see us. It makes for a really very exciting time for all of us, fans and band alike”

Maiden kicked off their record-breaking SOMEWHERE BACK IN TIME WORLD TOUR 08 in Mumbai, India on Feb 1st, before it rolled into Australia and Japan earlier this month - their first visit to the country in 15 years. Sky News joined the band from departure in the UK through the Indian leg to document Maiden’s enormous international profile They received an unprecedented amount of coverage which rolled across the network for two whole days. View the links below to experience the Maiden Boeing 757, the fan hysteria and exclusive footage of the first night of the tour in Mumbai. Channel 9 News in Australia also caught up with the band landing in Sydney and cameras around the world are expected to follow the band throughout this tour.

This tour, during which Maiden is expected to play to more than 1.5 million fans in the next six months, sees Iron Maiden consolidate their reputation as one of the greatest live acts on the planet and also one of the biggest ticket-selling bands ever.

‘Maiden Mania’ is currently gripping countries around the world as tickets for the 2008 World Tour flew out of box offices everywhere when they went on sale last year. On the first leg in Feb/Mar alone, tickets in San Paolo, Brazil, at the 42,000 capacity Palmeiras Stadium sold out in just a week ; Mexico City’s 22,000 capacity Sports Arena sold out in a record-breaking four days leading to the show being moved to the 51,000 Foro Sol Stadium, which is already sold out too; a first ever visit to Colombia, where first day ticket sales were the biggest for any music event there ever, saw the Simon Bolivar Stadium in Bogota sell out the 30,000 original capacity in 10 days and this has now been extended to 50,000; 14,000 capacity arenas in Sydney and Melbourne, Australia, sold out in less than half an hour with second shows being added in both cities and the band playing to 70,000 fans there; 25,000 fans in each of Argentina, Chile and Costa Rica have already snapped up all available tickets with the promoter asking the venues if he can get more fans in to see the show.

The story continues in North America where shows in major arenas in LA, New York, Toronto sold out weeks in advance; and in the summer, when Maiden take the show around the stadiums of Europe, 125,000 tickets were sold in just over 2 hours last November for three stadium shows in Sweden and Finland!

Being able to tour the Southern Hemisphere in such a concentrated way is all due to the band taking their own plane – along with their entire 50-man crew, 12 tons of equipment and stage set – around the world with Astraeus Airline Captain Bruce Dickinson at the helm.

HOLLYWOOD - Black Label Society’s bass-monster, John "JD" DeServio has signed with newly found label Reform Records for his project Cycle Of Pain.

Accompanying DeServio in Cycle Of Pain is vocalist/rhythm guitarist Gregg Locascio, lead guitarist Joe Taylor (who plays with Doro Pesch) and drummer Rich Monica. In fact, DeServio, Locascio and Taylor were in a band together when they were only 15 years old. "We grew up together," says DeServio. "It's family, just like BLS."

The reason behind Cycle OF Pain is simple, "The tunes were written to create some awesome music,” explains DeServio. “This record is very diverse. Our influences range from Black Sabbath to John Coltrane, there's even a piano ballad with string arrangements on here. Zakk Wylde is going to do a guitar solo or two and Brian Tichy will be on a few songs as well. Cypress Hill is also doing a track with us."

Endorsed by Schecter guitars and an alumni of the prestigious Berklee College of Music, DeServio’s rock 'n' roll resume includes playing bass for Lita Ford when she opened for Motley Crue on the Dr. Feelgood tour. DeServio then joined UFO guitarist Vinnie Moore's band for their opening stint in front of Rush on the Roll the Bones tour. Aligning himself with Zakk Wylde, in Pride & Glory, DeServio got to open for Aerosmith. In addition to working with Richie Kotzen and Derek Sherinian amongst others, DeServio often holds bass clinics and teaches.

About Reform Records: the truth of their vision lives in their name. Based in New Jersey, Reform believes in and understands that artist development is an endless and subjective process. Fully embracing change and accepting the current revolution the music industry is undergoing, Reform aims to work with business minded artists who are committed to success.

Reform's roster includes former label executives from Interscope, A&M and Elektra Records as well as Sirius Satellite Radio. While the label may be new, those running it come armed with a wealth of experience. This is a record company that avoids overblown budgets and unfair agreements, instead focusing on hard work and appropriate partnerships.

Cycle Of Pain will release late spring 2008. For more information click to www.myspace.com/johnjddeservio or www.myspace.com/cycleofpain
