Tuska Festival in Helsinki, Finland on June 27.-29. has announced more artists for the 2008 line-up. Swedish heavy metal-act Dream Evil, Indonesian grinders Noxa and Finnish groups Discard and Ghost Brigade have been added to the bill. Also, American death metallers Job For A Cowboy take part in this year’s fest just like the Tuska-web site has informed for a few weeks now. A total of 32 bands on three stages will perform at Kaisaniemi, Helsinki over the course of three days. In addition to this, a couple of dozen bands will be appearing at the infamous evening clubs. The nine-song album will soon be available from www.moshpit-tragedy.com complete with a print-ready sleeve for as much or as little as each visitor chooses and will even being offered for free to those without a paypal account. Rob "The Baron" Milller (AMEBIX vocalist/bassist) writes on his myspace page: "Just a note to let people know that Monolith will be available as a sliding scale download very soon through Moshpit Tragedy. This seems like a good way to re-release material, giving the user the choice of what or how much they want to pay, so kind of a trust thing really, lets see how that goes." Nevertheless we are thrilled to be able to help preserve their legacy." AMEBIX was formed in England during 1978 and are a band that many consider to have started the sub genre crust punk. The band first appeared on the first Crass Records 'Bullshit Detector' compilation LP followed by the release of several now highly-regarded releases. Their music was heavily influenced by Motörhead, Black Sabbath, Venom, and early Killing Joke and combined with an ethos and worldview akin to Crass, represented their non-traditional lifestyles. In 1985 the band met Jello Biafra of Dead Kennedys and become the first UK signing to his label, Alternative Tentacles with the release of their 'Arise' LP. In 1987 the band signed to Heavy Metal Records for the album 'Monolith' though difficulties from the release led to the band eventually splitting. First, the new Worldfall MCD will be released as a precursor to their upcoming full-length, and will only be available direct from Century Media as well as iTunes. Then in June falls the release of the massively anticipated new full-length entitled Assassins: Black Meddle Part I. The album will be released on on Century Media Records in North America and Candlelight Records in Europe (who will also reissue the band's back-catalog for Europe). The Worldfall tracks were originally intended for a split with Leviathan that has now been delayed due to legal issues with Leviathan's record label. The cross-country tour wraps up two weeks prior to the anticipated June 24 album release date. In the final mixing process at Fascination Street Studios/Sweden by Jens Bogren (Opeth, Amon Amarth, Katatonia), Lost to the Living features nine new songs from the cherished doom metal band. Working with Travis Smith (Opeth, Soilwork, Katatonia) for the album’s packaging, it promises to be another fan and critic favorite. Track listing as of press time (not confirmed running order) is Cathedral, Descending, A Subtle Violence, And a Slow Surrender, Last Alone, Woke Up Lost, The Morning Light, At a Loss, A Portrait in White. Formed in 1996, Daylight Dies drummer Jesse Haff and guitarist Barre Gambling slowly crafted songs that would make their appearance on the band’s 2002 debut No Reply (Relapse). Terrorizer Magazine called the album "memorable and engaging." Outburn Magazine proclaimed it "pristine doom metal," while Digital Metal found it to be "a combination of dark melody and deathly aggression." The quintet would tour Europe with Katatonia and perform with Lacuna Coil throughout the US and Canada before writing processes would begin on new material. Their second album, the impressive Dismantling Devotion, was released March 2006 via Candlelight Records. Revolver Magazine called it “an epic slab of gloom metal that's equal parts apocalyptic rage and suicidal sorrow.” Terrorizer Magazine again applauded the band noting the album as “an epic journey as thoughtful and compellingly musical as it is bleak and vengeful... essential.” Another US tour, this time with Moonspell and friends Katatonia, the band including vocalist Nathan Ellis, bassist Egan O’Rourke, guitarist Charley Shackelford, together with Gambling and Haff completed 2006 on an all-time high. Outside of a few local performances the five-piece spent much of 2007 crafting the material that finds itself on Lost for the Living. "Everyone is taking a little time to catch their breath after working hard on bringing Lost to the Living to life,” says Haff. “We've continued to refine the music up until the last minute it was recorded and we all feel confident this is the strongest album we've made. As stated previously, the material is a mix of beautiful melancholic leads and harsh dissonant rhythms; despair driven hooks and the overall dark atmosphere you've come to expect from us. After an exhausting recording process, the one thing on all of our minds is the upcoming tour. We can't wait." He found a perfect foil in longtime friend and bassist Alex Conley, who had spent six years as guitarist and composer in bizzaro hardcore band Three Studies For A Crucifixion. This combination of ideas make up the unique sound of DEADSEA: metal mutation, passion is law, and the rest of the rules are thrown on the fire. In February 2006, a new and vicious addition, drummer Jeremy Spears, was brought into the mix. Spears brings the technical discipline DEADSEA's music requires along with an enthusiasm for testing new boundaries that improvisation allows. In May 2005, Desiderata was released on indie label Chrome Leaf Records (Melt Banana, Portal, Dead Child), receiving universal acclaim in the local press despite lengthy songs such as the 22 minute opus "Salem." By this time the DEADSEA live experience had become legendary in the area. Their epic versatility led audiences through extended noise freak-outs, all synthesizer sets and unrelenting doom punishment. People were leaving shows with mouths agape and national acts were scared of their powers. Now available is the band's latest venture; the self-titled release on Chrome Leaf Records. The recording process will be done in late March and is scheduled to be mastered by Alan Douches (Mastodon, Converge, Shadows Fall), and will feature artwork from Dennis Sibeijn of Damnengine Art (Job For A Cowboy, Chimaira). The yet-untitled effort should see a July release through Prosthetic Records. "We feel this album will be something monumental for NEURAXIS,” says guitarist Rob Milley. “With the new line-up and the energy we have created in the writing sessions, it’s something that is new and refreshing, yet still retains a lot of the essence of what NEURAXIS has built since day one." The new album will be the first studio album featuring new vocalist Alex Leblanc and guitarist William Seghers, both having appeared on the recently released Live Progression, via Galy Records. Accompanying DeServio in Cycle Of Pain is vocalist/rhythm guitarist Gregg Locascio, lead guitarist Joe Taylor (who plays with Doro Pesch) and drummer Rich Monica. In fact, DeServio, Locascio and Taylor were in a band together when they were only 15 years old. "We grew up together," says DeServio. "It's family, just like BLS." The reason behind Cycle OF Pain is simple, "The tunes were written to create some awesome music,” explains DeServio. “This record is very diverse.
