- GENGHIS TRON SIGN TO RELAPSE RECORDS
Relapse Records is proud to announce the signing of avant-garde rock
extremists GENGHIS TRON.
Upon signing, GENGHIS TRON comment: "We're incredibly excited to
be joining the Relapse family. The three of us have been huge fans of
the label since the dawn of time and we can't wait to work with them
on our future releases."
The new Philadelphia transplants (Mookie Singerman, Michael Sochynsky,
and Hamilton Jordan, Jr.) have recently released the critically acclaimed
full-length Dead Mountain Mouth and are working on writing the follow-up
and Relapse debut. "We're currently building a bold, psychedelic
bridge to Godcity Studios where we'll be recording our next album in
August with Kurt Ballou." comments the band. "Thanks to some
serious unemployment we've been fully immersed in erecting said bridge--working
8 hours or more a day, seven days a week on new material. It's sounding
insane and awesome and entirely indescribable. We're stoked." Dead
Mountain Mouth garnered best of the year accolades in leading music-publications
such as Rock Sound, Decibel Magazine, Kerrang!, CMJ, Exclaim!, and more.
GENGHIS TRON's latest material can be heard via the band's MySpace:
www.MySpace.com/GENGHISTRON
and additional information on the band can be found via their website:

- NOCTURNAL are looking for a new vocalist !
After 6 years with NOCTURNAL we have parted ways with our singer Mayhem.
As some of you may know he is also the vocalist of WITCHBURNER. We don´t
want to get into details as they are only of our importance. But we
asked him to choose for one band, and he decided himself for WITCHBURNER.
So just to avoid rumours, he did not leave the band himself neither
we kicked him out. We parted ways in good terms and we think it´s
better for both bands this way. We wish him good luck for the future
with WITCHBURNER.
So we´re looking for a new vocalist rigth now since we want to
play the scheduled live gigs and record a new album in the middle of
this year !

- SIX FEET UNDER announces album details and free mp3!
A brand new SIX FEET UNDER track, entitled "Doomsday", is
available for download HERE.
The track appears on the group's new album, "Commandment",
due April 17th from Metal Blade Records.
Track listing for “Commandment”:
1. Doomsday
2. Thou Shall Kill
3. Zombie Executioner
4. The Edge of the Hatchet
5. Bled to Death
6. Resurrection of the Rotten
7. As the Blade Turns
8. The Evil Eye
9. In a Vacant Grave
10. Ghosts of the Undead
In a recent interview with Mark Carras of RockMyMonkey.com, SIX FEET
UNDER bassist Terry Butler stated about the upcoming CD, "I would
say, if I had to describe the new style, it would be 'Maximum Violence'
meets 'Haunted'. . . I'm really psyched about it. I really liked it.
We had a good writing experience. We wrote all the music in the studio
and it just flowed through. It's pretty upbeat the whole time, but there's
some really catchy, groovy riffs. I think SFU fans are going to like
it a lot, especially some of the older, the people who've been around
for a long time listening to us, it will satisfy them. The last couple
records we've kind of, I don't want to say gotten off our style, but
we've always tried to be a little bit different. We didn't want to always
just put ten records that sounded like 'Haunted'. So we just kind of,
I don't want to say experimented, but we just kind of messed around
a little bit, certain styles, but I think this is kind of back to what
our fans would expect."

I think we will end up having 11 songs.

Written in Blood, Nothing but Flesh Remains, A Spirit Dressed in Black.
More titles to come soon...
“We will start recording at the end of April at studio Toninfusion.de,
Ulm, Germany. The mix will take place in the beginning of June in Sweden

- MESHUGGAH Confirmed For Sweden's PEACE & LOVE Festival
Swedish experimental extreme metallers MESHUGGAH have been confirmed
for the Peace & Love festival, set to take place June 28-30 in the
center of Borlänge, Sweden. Also scheduled to appear are HAMMERFALL,
CRASHDIET, NEVERSTORE IGGY & THE STOOGES, BABYSHAMBLES, HANOI ROCKS,
SABATON, MORGANA LEFAY and DOZER, among others.
In 2006, the festival organizers began to invite more metal bands to
the event, which has previously featured performances by bands such
as DARK TRANQUILLITY, SOILWORK, THE HAUNTED, TOTALT JÄVLA MÖRKER,
ENGEL, KHOMA, BURST, ENTOMBED, HANOI ROCKS, DEATHSTARS and NEW YORK
DOLLS.
For more information, visit www.peaceandlove.nu.
Revolver magazine reported last month that MESHUGGAH is returning on
its next album to the pummeling double bass drums and angular riffage
that defined their early material to sculpt what they say will be their
most savage, eclectic offering yet. "We've got some fast, intense
songs and hectic, heavy stuff that draws from all the things we've done
in the past," said drummer Tomas Haake. "It's so great to
actually be playing drums again."
The band members started writing last August and are said to be working
on more than a dozen new tunes. The goal is to finish by March, in time
for a May release. To some extent, the tone of the music was motivated
by the four months MESHUGGAH spent last year rerecording guitars for
the Halloween re-release of their 2002 album, "Nothing". "It
was great to revisit that super-heavy stuff," Haake told Revolver.
"While we were doing it, we found new ways of playing guitar that
give the music a really scary tone. That's going to make this record
sound more brutal."

- SAXON's BIFF BYFORD To Publish Autobiography
"We knew we'd recorded a good album; we just didn't know it was
that good …" recalls SAXON frontman Biff Byford of 1980's
breakthrough album "Wheels Of Steel".
For over thirty years, SAXON has been led from the front by charismatic
and larger-than-life vocalist Biff Byford. In "Never Surrender",
he tells his story for the first time, from his working class childhood
as a terribly shy schoolboy in Yorkshire through the mega-days of the
early Eighties to the band's twenty-first century rise to fame once
more. Sometimes tragic, sometimes funny, but always brutally honest,
"Never Surrender" lifts the lid on the myths surrounding SAXON,
as well as revealing the hard work and heartaches it takes to make it
to the top and stay there.
Co-author John Tucker is a music writer and photographer with a keen
interest in — some would say obsession with — heavy metal.
His first book, "Suzie Smiled… The New Wave Of British Heavy
Metal", was published in 2006.
"Saxon - Never Surrender (Or Nearly Good Looking): An Autobiography
By Biff Byford And John Tucker", ISBN 978-3-931624-44-6, will be
published via I.P. Publishing in April 2007. Distribution in the U.K.
will be handled by Gazelle Book Services Limited.
"The MÖTLEY CRÜE tour was the highpoint of sexual adventures,
but just the whole American thing really was where most of the groupies
were. And like I said, I nearly died from too much sex and too many
shows … I remember us playing this gig and I looked up at the
side of the stage and Tommy Lee's there, having a blowjob while he's
watching us. Talk about off-putting!"

- ANTIMATTER: "Leaving Eden" recordings finished, release
in April
ANTIMATTER have just finished working on their fourth studio album "Leaving
Eden". After Duncan Patterson left the band in 2005, Mick Moss
gathered a number of guest musicians around him - among others Danny
Cavanagh (ANATHEMA) - to record the most depressive and heaviest album
of ANTIMATTER's discography. This is attested by the dynamics of "Leaving
Eden", the increased use of electric guitars and forceful drumming.
"Leaving Eden" will be released as a limited first edition
in a Digipak on April 16th, 2007.
Tracklist:
1. Redemption
2. Another Face In A Window
3. Ghosts
4. The Freak Show

8. The Immaculate Misconception

- ELEND: New release "A World In Their Screams" out in April
"A World In Their Screams" will be released on April 23th,
2007. This album is the third instalment in ELEND's "Winds"
cycle and "continues the long epic prose poem combining personal
themes with references to ancient Greek authors."
As for now, the band - still in the finishing stages of the recording
process - remains secretive and summarizes the new work as "the
most brutal and bizarre album in ELEND's history, something most listeners
will hardly recover from."
"A World In Their Screams" will be released in Europe by Prophecy
Productions, in France by Holy Records and in USA by Orphika - a division
of Noevdia, via Season of Mist America.
- TESTAMENT Confirmed For Norway's METAL HEART Festival
San Francisco Bay Area metal veterans TESTAMENT are the first confirmed
band for Metal Heart, a brand new two-day metal festival set to take
place August 17-18 at Tapperiet in Notodden, Norway. A total of 10-to-12
acts will perform at the event.
More information about bands and ticket availability will come soon.
TESTAMENT is currently working with new drummer Nick Barker (formerly
of DIMMU BORGIR and CRADLE OF FILTH) on material for its first studio
album since 1999's "The Gathering". Nick Barker told BLABBERMOUTH.NET
last week that "what we have so far is quite honestly mindblowing
stuff in the vein of 'The Legacy'-, 'New Order'-meets-'The Gathering',
only with yours truly behind the kit pounding like I've never pounded
before."
Spitfire will release a TESTAMENT compilation, "The Spitfire Collection",
on February 13. Consisting of tracks from such Spitfire/Testament titles
as "The Gathering", "Demonic", "Live at the
Fillmore", "First Strike Still Deadly" and "Live
in London", the 14-track set chronicles an era that ultimately
saw the original TESTAMENT reunite for a successful 2005 tour. As a
result, "The Spitfire Collection" features both live versions
of such TESTAMENT classics as "Practice What You Preach",
"Over the Wall", and "Souls of Black", as well as
such oft-overlooked studio tracks as "Careful What You Wish For"
and "The Burning Times".
- ROTTING CHRIST Mainman Feels 'Sorry' For MEGADETH's DAVE MUSTAINE
Decibel magazine reports that MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine forced
Greece's ROTTING CHRIST off a 2005 Athens gig, later saying he didn't
want to play with "full-on" Satanic band since being "saved"
in 2002. He further spouted off on MEGADETH's web site that "No
one knows for sure what [ROTTING CHRIST's] intent or content is, so
I am not going to say they are [Satanic]." Nevertheless, even though
MEGADETH had played with the group previously, he threatened to pass
Greece by if ROTTING CHRIST was the support band.
"The concerts that I headline or I put together is usually my choice
who I want to play with; festivals are different," he said at the
time. "If I don't feel it is right for me to do something, then
I [will] just respectfully decline. I would not ask that anyone be taken
off if they were already confirmed.
"I have to draw the line and stand for my beliefs or they aren't
beliefs at all, are they?" he added "I don't expect anyone
to fully understand this, but I know many of [the MEGADETH fans] do,
and I thank [them] for [their] support.
More than anything, this confounded ROTTING CHRIST leader Sakis Tolis.
"I didn't expect something like that from Dave Mustaine, because,
you know, he's supposed to be metal — you know, 'metal band,'
all metal," said Tolis. "I just feel sorry for him and for
every new Christian with new ideas, because we think Christianity is
the worst thing to happen in human history. This is a well-organized
trick in order to control society, so when I see someone that's very
much Christian, that's full of the system, I feel very sorry for him
because he's not free. And of course, if you are a Christian who believes
somewhere, I don't care. It's up to you to believe anywhere you want,
but if you want to push your opinion to the others, then I have to feel
sorry about you."

- HIGH IMPACT RECORDINGS/METAL BLADE RECORDS signs EVERGREEN TERRACE!
High Impact Recordings and Metal Blade Records are proud to announce
the signing of Jacksonville’s own, Evergreen Terrace.
Since 1999, Evergreen Terrace has created their own brand of fast, powerful,
heavy, and yet melodic hardcore. The band’s disregard for gimmicks
and trends has allowed them to make music with true energy and passion.
Evergreen Terrace’s diverse sound has allowed them to share the
stage with bands like Norma Jean, Unearth, Every Time I Die, Hatebreed,
Bane, and Gwar.
High Impact Recordings founder, Tim Lambesis comments, "Evergreen
Terrace is a band that will soon get the recognition they've deserved
for quite some time. They are a band that started before their genre
blew up, and all the while they've maintained a distinct identity by
combining the energy of punk and the syncopation of metal with a melody
that is their own. In a genre that sometime goes over the top trying
to be "heavy", Evergreen Terrace reminds us that energy and
good song-writing should still be the bottom line."
Evergreen Terrace enthusiastically replies, "Now we can be a real
band, thanks Metal Blade!!!"
"Metal Blade...Fuck Yeah." - Josh of Evergreen Terrace
"Very excited to work with such a hard working label that believes
in what we are trying to accomplish as a band. It feels amazing to be
a part of a roster with such a huge history in the underground and mainstream
metal and hardcore scene." - Kyle of Evergreen Terrace
Evergreen Terrace will begin recording the follow-up to 2005’s
Sincerity is an Easy Disguise in This Business, in February 2007 at
Vision Sound in Florida.
Evergreen Terrace is:
Andrew Carey - Vocals
Craig Chaney - Guitar/Vocals
Joshua James - Guitar
Jason Southwell - Bass
Kyle Mims - Drums

things from there." Producer Warren Riker (CROWBAR, SUBLIME) has
already signed on to helm the effort, for which the band has composed
18 tracks so far. The band plans to begin recording the album February

to track the remainder of "Down III", which the guitarist
told MTV.com could be out by summer's end.

- BLACK SABBATH, JUDAS PRIEST 'Snubbed' By U.K. Rock Locations
Birmingham reports that BLACK SABBATH, LED ZEPPELIN and JUDAS PRIEST
are among the rock heavyweights with links to the Midlands — but
a new rock locations map has failed to recognize their achievements
in the region.
Bev Bevan, former drummer with BLACK SABBATH, today claimed national
tourism agency Visit Britain had disregarded the importance of venues
like Mothers, in Erdington, and The Belfry, in Sutton Coldfield.
During the '60s and 7'0s these venues hosted some of the biggest names
in rock, including LED ZEPPELIN, PINK FLOYD, THE WHO and T.REX. John
Peel was resident DJ at Mothers during that time. Bevan described the
guide's "cursory mention" of BLACK SABBATH as an insult to
the band who "invented heavy metal".
"Mothers was one of the biggest clubs in the country so it's a
major omission," said Bevan, who also played with THE MOVE and
ELO.
"Tony Iommi and Ozzy invented heavy metal with BLACK SABBATH, so
to give them only a cursory mention, and to link it to their drinking
rather than the music, is something of an insult.
"The Cedar Club, off Constitution Hill, and The Belfry were also
big venues, but smaller venues like The Plaza, in Handsworth, Ritz,
in Kings Heath, or the Birmingham Odeon, on New Street, were just as
important.
"Alex's Pie Stand, now the Albany NCP car park behind the Alexandra
Theatre, is where many bands met up and formed in the 60s over a late-night
pie and chips."

- KRUGER releases two new song from "Redemption Through Looseness"
on MySpace!
After a rocking debut and aggro-belting album, “Built For Speed”,
the Swiss, whiskey-induced, metal hybrid KRUGER continued to make themselves
known in 2005 with a massive, heavy and promising second piece mixed
by Fredrik Nordstrom in a very Swedish (think “thick”) kind
of way. “Cattle Truck” has since been acclaimed by both
critics and fans throughout Europe, and allowed KRUGER to share the
stage with bands like The Dillinger Escape Plan, Isis, Cult of Luna,
Sleeppers, Gojira or Unsane, with whom they hold the comparison very
decently.
They even slaughtered the stage this year at the mythical Montreux Jazz
festival!
Now in 2007, KRUGER delivers an epic and intense follow-up, “Redemption
Through Looseness”.
Gloomy and dark, yet overwhelmingly powerful, this new 9-track album
drowns the band’s acknowledged influences (Breach, Entombed, Tool,
Neurosis) into an intense magma of shredding metallurgic charge, drilling
vocal turpitudes and desperate, naked heaviness.
Thematically stuck into out-of-subject considerations and cynical bottle
stories, KRUGER drive faster and louder, crashing the post-hardcore
clichés in their way.
Have a drink, relax, be loose: Redemption, the Kruger way.
Damn! This is heavy as fuck!
"KRUGER sounds a lot like a mix between Breach's industrial leanings
and Isis' heavy slow drone.
They pick things up a lot more than Isis, though, and these components
never detract from the originality and talent on the disk.
KRUGER really creates a unique sound."
