Metal Maniacs RWAKE SIGN TO RELAPSE RECORDS Relapse Records is proud to announce the signing of Arkansas sludge kingpins RWAKE. RWAKE (Gravy - guitar, Jeff - drums, C.T. - vocals, Reid - Bass, B. - moog / samples / vocals, Kiffin - guitar) are currently in the midst of writing for what will become their third album and Relapse debut. Vocalist C.T. comments on the process, "The writing is going really well. I can tell just from how things are coming to together so far that this is going to be our best record yet. Speaking as someone on the inside looking out, I can see where we have matured with the songwriting and lyrics. It's going to be heavy man." Metal Maniacs Band manager to admit club fire deaths Plea deal includes 10-year sentence The former manager of the heavy metal rock group Great White has agreed to plead guilty to 100 counts of involuntary manslaughter stemming from a deadly 2003 nightclub fire, a judge said Tuesday. Daniel Biechele will enter the plea next week and serve no more than 10 years in prison under the deal with prosecutors, Superior Court Judge Francis Darigan said. Biechele was charged with 200 counts of involuntary manslaughter for starting the blaze when he ignited pyrotechnics during a Great White performance at The Station nightclub in West Warwick. He had pleaded innocent. Sparks from the pyrotechnics ignited highly flammable foam lining the club's walls and ceiling, creating a fast-moving blaze that also injured more than 200 people in the fourth-deadliest nightclub fire in the country's history. Brothers Jeffrey and Michael Derderian, who owned the club, also were charged with 200 counts each of involuntary manslaughter. They are accused of installing the flammable soundproofing foam in violation of the state fire code. They have pleaded not guilty. Biechele has said through his lawyer that he had permission to light the pyrotechnics during the February 20, 2003, concert, but the Derderians have disputed that claim. The three defendants were charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter for each of the 100 people killed. One count per death alleged criminal negligence, the other accused the defendants of committing underlying offenses that led to the deaths. In a recent interview with MTV News, SEPULTURA guitarist Andreas Kisser said he's heard all the rumors about SEPULTURA reuniting with founding member and current SOULFLY frontman Max Cavalera for a spot on this summer's Ozzfest. He's even heard the one that involves the band's "plans" to perform three different sets from the main stage - one featuring SOULFLY material, a second of just "Roots" and "Chaos A.D." tracks, and the last consisting of songs off the band's upcoming CD, "Dante XXI". But at this point he said they're nothing more than rumors, period. "Nothing is really set," he told MTV News. "We need to go on tour with this new album, but nothing's set. There's a lot of talking going on, but nothing's being done as far as I know. A lot of people are working for these things to happen, but so far nothing's going on. People are excited to hear that there's a possibility for us to get back [together], and it would be cool to play with Max again, to jam together. It would be great and it's cool to see that everyone thinks it's a good idea. The way I see it is, if you do this shit, we're only going to do stuff that we recorded up to 'Roots' and hopefully maximize - do a DVD or something. I haven't talked to Max [about a reunion]. So far it's just really rumors - which is a start." With regards to his upcoming solo album, Kisser said, "I've been working on it for the past three years," he said. "It will be a double album - the first [disc] will be related to the electric guitar, with different musicians, and the second will be acoustic. I'm taking my time with it, and it should be out by the end of this year, [although] nothing's set. It won't be a masturbation guitar album; it will explore different tones, different guitars and different instrumentation." [Source: Blabbermouth.net] Metal Maniacs FINNTROLL SPLIT WITH FRONTMAN Finland's FINNTROLL have issued a statement regarding their recent split with frontman Tapio Wilska (SETHIAN, ex-WIZZARD, former session vocalist for NIGHTWISH). The statement reads as follows: "We have reached a situation in which we find it impossible to continue FINNTROLL with our singer Wilska. This decision was very hard to make, but after long talks and deep conversations we finally came to the conclusion that if we were to continue FINNTROLL, we had to let Wilska go. "We thank Wilska for the past three years. "FINNTROLL is now actively searching for a new singer, and will continue working on a new album which should come out by the end of 2006. Although FINNTROLL does not have a permanent singer in its ranks at the moment, we will not let this affect our already scheduled performances." FINNTROLL recently completed a short North American tour with German thrashers SODOM. The band are scheduled to take part in the No Mercy Festivals 2006 European tour beginning in early April (along with CANNIBAL CORPSE, KATAKLYSM and LEGION OF THE DAMNED). We will have more info as it presents itself and corresponding dates in Europe surrounding Waken as well-stay tuned!!! www.sfu420.com Metal Maniacs THE GATHERING, THEATRE OF TRAGEDY, LIV KRISTINE and GOD'S ARMY (featuring members of FIREWIND and AT VANCE) are among the artists confirmed for this year's German gothic music festival Wave Gotik Treffen, set to take place June 2-5 in Leipzig. More than 55 acts have been confirmed so far, with more yet to be announced. As previously reported, TOOL's brand-new album was mastered on Tuesday, January 31 at Gateway Mastering Studios in Portland, Maine by Bob Ludwig. The members of the band were present during the mastering, according to a posting on Toolband.com. TOOL's first CD since 2001's "Lateralus" is tentatively scheduled for release in late April or early May. A video directed by guitarist Adam Jones is also said to be in the works, with members of the band preparing to embark on an an international press tour for the new effort. Photos taken during the recording of the LP, which were posted on Jones' online blog, showed that QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE's Josh Homme, MELVINS guitarist King Buzzo and ISIS frontman Aaron Turner had stopped into the studio during the sessions. It's not yet known whether the guests will appear on the album. British "folk metal" act SKYCLAD have inked a deal with Greece's Black Lotus Records. The band are currently working on a special EP that will be released in time for the band's tour dates in April. The CD will feature a brand new recording of the instrumental track "Jig-a-Jig", along with the songs "The Roman Wall Blues", "They Think It's All Over - Well Is It Now?" and "Mr Malaprope" from the "A Semblance Of Normality" sessions. This EP will not be available in any record stores — it will only be available from the band's webshop and on tour. Meanwhile, SKYCLAD are also working on a new album which is to be recorded over the summer and released before the end of the year. On February 23rd THANATOS will enter the Excess Studios in Rotterdam once again to record their fifth full length album. Tentatively entitled 'Justified Genocide' the album will feature 9 or 10 songs including ,,They Feed On Fear", "The Devil's Triangle", "March Of The Infidels", "Upwards Spritual Evolution" and "The Netherworld". The album will probably be released at the end of the Summer/early Fall 2006 on Black Lotus Records. The artwork will be handled by German artist Timo Wuerz. The release of a Thanatos 7 inch vinyl EP has been delayed. We also worked with Massacre for the release of our Live-DVD in 2004 and we are very excited about stepping into the future together with them. The new album "Enter The Gate" has been mixed by Anders "Theo" Theander at the Roastinghouse studio in Malmö, Sweden. Theo has also worked with bands like Lande/Allen project, Pain of Salvation, Last Tribe etc etc. The result so far is the most well-sounding and well-performed Narnia album to date. The album contains the most melodic and catchy songs since "Long Live the King" from the late 90's but in a brand new sound and approach. The lyrics are also the most uplifting we have ever done, which we think is necessary in a dark time. THE HELLACOPTERS TO LAND IN AMERICA ON MARCH 6 Three-week U.S. tour with Nebula is Swedish rock quintet’s first in four years International rock superstars The Hellacopters – whose acclaimed new album, Rock & Roll Is Dead, is now available – will soon return to America for their first U.S. tour in four years. The three-week jaunt, which features Liquor and Poker Music labelmates Nebula on all dates and New Zealand’s The Datsuns on a select few, kicks off in Chicago on March 6. It also includes a performance alongside fellow Scandinavian rockers Turbonegro at South By Southwest, an annual music industry event held each spring in Austin, Texas. The Hellacopters – who will find out next week if they’ve earned another Swedish Grammy Award, this time in the category “Best Rock Group Of The Year” – have toured their home continent with the likes of Kiss, The Rolling Stones and The Foo Fighters, and upon the European release of Rock & Roll Is Dead last summer, they immediately embarked on six months’ worth of overseas touring. Released Jan. 24, the American version of the album features two bonus tracks not found on any other version, as well as bonus music video clips for international hit singles “I’m In The Band” and “Everything’s On T.V.” Nebula, meanwhile, will embark on the first tour in support of new album Apollo (street date: Feb. 21), the L.A. power trio’s fourth full-length. (www.hardcoremarketing.com) announced news for their Management client 7th Plague (www.seventhplague.com): 7th Plague (www.seventhplague.com), have accepted an offer from Metal Blade Records (www.metalbladerecords.com) for a four (4) album recording contract. The band will be signing the record deal on Wednesday February 8th. The band is extending an invitation to all interested press to come to the signing. 7th Plague came into full form in July of 2004. All of the members are currently 17 years old, still in high school and have made huge advances with their music and talents in less than two years. In a short amount of time the band has performed with bands such as Chimaira, Machine Head, DevilDriver, The Haunted, Byzantine, All That Remains, The Agony Scene, 3 Inches of Blood, Children Of Tragedy, Still Remains, and others. Recently, the band completed a demo with Hardcore Marketing in house-producer Don Debiase (Gatlin, APG). The band then had their Manager Neil Sheehan from HM, Inc. shop the demo to several record labels. In October of 2005 the band learned through Sheehan that Metal Blade was putting an offer in on the band. In January 2006 the band received initial copies of their negotiated contracts and accepted the mutually agreed upon terms. The band will sign the official agreement on Wednesday February 8th during a dinner at Westlake, Ohio’s Dave and Busters. On January 24th, 2006, One Dead Three Wounded will re-release their full-length debut album Paint The Town on New Jersey-based 1x1 Music. MANOWAR Guitarist Injured In Motorcycle Accident Karl Logan, lead guitarist of heavy metal powerhouse MANOWAR, was injured on Tuesday, January 24, 2006 in a motorcycle accident. Logan sustained severe injuries to his left arm, which will prevent him from performing for an as-yet-unknown period of time. "MANOWAR will have to reconsider all of our plans, but the good news is that Karl is OK and he'll be back stronger than ever," says MANOWAR bassist Joey DeMaio. Logan was preparing to record his lead guitar parts for the upcoming, as-yet-untitled MANOWAR album, the release of which will now be delayed. Touring plans are also expected to change as a result of this unfortunate turn of events. However, MANOWAR will soldier on. "We don't have any more information at this time," says DeMaio. "But nothing ever has, or ever will, stop MANOWAR." More information will be released as it becomes available. MANOWAR were previously scheduled to release a brand new single, "The Sons of Odin", on February 27. MANOWAR have sold over eight million records worldwide. Yeung, who is currently putting together a new extreme metal project with former Fear Factory/Brujeria guitarist Dino Cazares, placed first in the NAMM international Fasted Drummer contest in the "Fastest Feet Category" of the contest. Tim officially came in at 872 beats within one minute. An outstanding 'feet', bad pun intended. Nuclear Blast Records has announced the signing of the legendary metal band VOIVOD for the European territory. The Canadian experimental metallers are currently putting the finishing touches on their much-anticipated new album with producer Glen Robinson (VOIVOD's "Nothingface", TEA PARTY, GWAR) at Multisons studio in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. A late spring release is expected. The follow-up to 2003's "Voivod" is the first album in the band's 20-plus-year career that will not feature founding guitarist Denis "Piggy" D'Amour working alongside his bandmembers in the studio. D'Amour died August 26, 2005 in a Montreal hospital from complications of advanced colon cancer. In order to record the album, singer Denis "Snake" Belanger, drummer Michael "Away" Langevin and bassist Jason "Jasonic" Newsted are utilizing all of the guitar parts that Piggy had recorded for the record on his laptop with ProTools before his death.
