Dave Mustaine handpicked the bands for GIGANTOUR, with a focus on musicianship.
“There are a few very successful tours out each summer and in
order to be significant, I knew the first GIGANTOUR had to make an impact
with top bands like Dream Theater, FEAR FACTORY, Dillinger Escape Plan
and Nevermore.” Mustaine wanted to “put together a festival
that consisted of positive bands that play heavy music in a high energyenvironment.”

- LIFE OF AGONY TO HEADLINE
GIGANTOUR'S SECOND STAGE
NEW ALBUM BROKEN VALLEY IN STORES JUNE 14
Epic recording artists LIFE OF AGONY will headline the second stage
of this
summer's Gigantour, a six-week festival featuring Megadeth, Dream Theater,
Dillinger Escape Plan and Fear Factory, among others. The speaker-shattering
tour begins July 21 at the Selland Arena in Fresno, CA.
The band, who recently wrapped dates with Mudvayne, will be touring
in support
of highly anticipated new album BROKEN VALLEY, their first new studio
album in
eight years. Produced by Greg Fidelman (Jet, Slipknot) and featuring
lead single
"Love To Let You Down," BROKEN VALLEY is a potent, poignant
and perfectly paced
rock album from a band whose creative spark is still smoldering.
Here's what the critics are saying:
Revolver
"...Broken Valley is a bruising, anthemic disc that sounds like
a punkier, bleaker Velvet Revolver."
Daily Variety
"'Love To Let You Down' is one of the catchiest singles to emerge
from the metal world in recent memory."
Alternative Press – 4 out of 5 stars
"…LOA are back…"
MTV News
"…Broken Valley is 10 tracks of the NYC thuddery LOA is known
for, but with something extra: a maturity born of nearly 20 years in
the game."
Guitar World
"…the riffs are sharper and the choruses stronger than anything
Life of Agony have recorded since their 1993 debut, River Runs Red."
CMJ New Music Monthly
"…more bloodthirsty than anything they've done previous."
Kerrang! – 4 star review
"…an utterly accomplished, passionate and powerful record
which should see its makers win over a whole new generation of devotees.
Today's young pretenders would do well to take note."
Stuff – 3 star review
"After a four-year hiatus, these Brooklyn headbangers have reunited,
crafting a catchy metal album…"
Outburn – 9 out of 10 stars
"…The classic Life of Agony lineup has returned with a brilliant
new record that should easily surpass the hopes and dreams of even the
most cynical fan. A second chance at musical redemption is at hand."
Metal Edge
"…brilliant…distressing…compelling…it all
comes together as a strangely beautiful album."
Decibel – 7 out of 10 stars
"…Broken Valley feels like a breakthrough...they deserve
all the success that's bound to follow."
Hit Parader
"…Life of Agony have returned to the metal scene with a new
album that finds them tougher, rougher and more charismatic than ever."
The Aquarian
"Broken Valley is not only a forward movement in the ongoing evolution
of the band, seemingly uninterrupted by their split and reformation,
but it encapsulates perfectly the band's complex personality and puts
on a threshold the intense emotional honesty of the music that has been
paramount on all of their releases. In short, it f*cking rocks."
BROKEN VALLEY arrived in the early '90s and quickly made their mark
with their now-classic debut, 1993's River Runs Red. Over the course
of the half-dozen years that followed, the band released two acclaimed
studio albums (1995's Ugly and 1997's Soul Searching Sun), toured with
the likes of Ozzy Osbourne, Korn, System Of A Down and Incubus, and
garnered a diehard international following. After lineup changes and
musical differences led to a split in 1999, the foursome re-grouped
for two shows at Irving Plaza in January of 2003. They sold out within
minutes.
Additional dates and writing sessions followed, and by the time LIFE
OF AGONY finished a European summer tour alongside the Red Hot Chili
Peppers, Metallica and David Bowie, a new four-song demo had made the
rounds and piqued label interest. They inked a deal with Epic shortly
afterward and quickly headed into the studio to build BROKEN VALLEY.
You can catch them tearing through VALLEY and playing other fan favorites

- TONY IOMMI, the legendary Black Sabbath guitarist, will release his
new album Fused on July 12, 2005, via Sanctuary Records. Joining Iommi
is former Deep Purple vocalist/bassist Glenn Hughes and former John
Mellencamp drummer Kenny Aronoff, who has also played sessions with
the likes of the Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Rod Stewart, Alice Cooper,
Bob Seger, Lynyrd Skynyrd and countless others. The trio will hit the
road to promote Fused later this year after Black Sabbath finishes headlining
the 10th anniversary Ozzfest tour.
Iommi's lethal guitar crunch leads the charge. Hughes truly pushes himself
to the edge and adjusts his voice to fit the overall direction of each
song while simultaneously propelling the rhythm with his pounding bass
guitar. The volcanic thunder Aronoff unleashes from his drums sounds
like nothing he has done before. Bob Marlette's sparkling, crisp production
results in a hard-hitting, modern, in-your-face sound.

based in Brandon, Fla., will be performing at The Masquerade (in the
Infinity Room), Ybor City, Fla, on Saturday, July 16, 2005. Appearing
on the bill with BLACK ZODIAC is the band "Must... Not... Kill...".

phone: (613) 247-3319. Doors open at 8:00 p.m.; ages eighteen and older.
Tickets are $6.00 in advance and may be purchased through The Masquerade's

The Masquerade is the perfect place to catch some of the hottest acts
from around the world, in the middle of one of the hottest entertainment
districts in the world!
BLACK ZODIAC was formed in 2002 by Cuban-born beauty, Mayelin. To Mayelin,
the name BLACK ZODIAC "represents all the different personalities
of the zodiac with the darkness behind them."
BLACK ZODIAC is comprised of Mayelin (vocals), Aaron Robinson (bass/guitar),
and Jay Browing (drums).
In May 2004, BLACK ZODIAC released the debut album, "Psychotic
Hatred," on Sonic Wave International Records. The eleven-track
album was produced by Juan "Punchy" Gonzalez (Morbid Angel’s
co-producer). "Psychotic Hatred" was serviced to radio stations
throughout the U.S., and it received airplay on more than 250 commercial
and non-commercial stations. Accompanying the release of the album was
a video for the tune, ‘Love in Darkness,’ which was solicited
to various video outlets throughout the country.
BLACK ZODIAC approaches their art differently than most of their contemporaries.
They focus on the "whole picture," taking into consideration
image, music, lyrical content, and performance, all arranged to fit
together in perfect harmony. They look to be above the standards in
metal today by keeping the lyrics clean and enlightening. They also
extract musical influences from outside of the metal genre while still
being true to the roots of the style. With Mayelin’s vocal power
in combination with their unrestricted musical vision, there will be
no end to BLACK ZODIAC.

- Lock up your daughters, Stockholm's BACKYARD BABIES are returning
to North America!!
After a successful tour opening up for punk legends, Social Distortion,
the Backyard Babies are returning to North America for a headlining
national summer tour with labelmates The Black Halos, kicking off at
the NXNE Conference in Toronto, June 9th at Funhaus.
The Babies will be supporting their newest release, Tinnitus on California
based Liquor and Poker Music. A compilation of four tracks from previously
unreleased albums, Tinnitus is an overdue introduction to one of rock
n' roll's unsung diamonds. It combines experiences of the Backyard Babies'
teenage years listening to The Clash, Kiss, Dead Boys, Motley Crue,
The Stooges, Hanoi Rocks and the Rolling Stones with the rock n' roll
circus experiences gained as a touring band. More importantly, the unrelenting
rock n' roll provides a glimpse into the past as well as the future
of over the top, trashy, punk rawk & roll.
Forerunners of the Swedish invasion that brought bands like The Hives,
Sahara Hotnights and The Hellacopters, which guitarist Dregen was a
founding member of, the BACKYARD BABIES have unleashed a mirror-shades-and-mascara
action-rock riot upon unsuspecting citizenry in every corner of the
globe.

- TWISTED SISTER TO RELEASE 'LIVE AT WACKEN THE REUNION' DVDPLUS
THROUGH EAGLE ROCK ENTERTAINMENT ON JUNE 28, 2005
FIRST-EVER WORLDWIDE RELEASE OF REVOLUTIONARY DVDPLUS DOUBLE-SIDED DISC
FEATURES BOTH FULL DVD VIDEO AND FULL CD AUDIO
WACKEN CONCERT, NEW INTERVIEWS, ARCHIVAL FOOTAGE AND PREVIOUSLY UNRELEASED
LIVE SONGS ARE INCLUDED
The legendary hard-rock band Twisted Sister will release Live at Wacken
The Reunion on DVDplus through Eagle Rock Entertainment on June 28,
2005.
DVDplus is the revolutionary new medium featuring both full-length DVD
video and CD audio on opposite sides of the same disc, unlike competing
formats which do not offer consumer-desired full-length DVD capability.
DVDplus discs are playable on existing DVD and CD equipment; no special
gear is required. Live at Wacken The Reunion is the first DVDplus title
to be released worldwide with label printing on both sides of the disc.
The invertible hybrid disc was first conceived by acclaimed record producer
and engineer Dieter Dierks, best known for his work with Twisted Sister
and Scorpions. Twisted Sister vocalist Dee Snider was an early proponent
of DVDplus and Phil Carson, Twisted Sister's manager and a legendary
music industry executive, trumpeted the technology to countless record
company heads and others. Eagle Rock Entertainment and Twisted Sister's
foresight regarding DVDplus' potential has paved the way for others
to follow in their footsteps.
"I first heard of DVDplus when Dieter Dierks, a German record producer
pal of mine, came to New York and showed me this astonishing technology,"
says Snider. "I saw a massive potential that is particularly important
to record companies. Here is a way for them to give the consumer a much
needed incentive to pay for a CD."
Snider then showed the disc to Carson. "This is exactly what the
industry needs," says Carson. "It gives the consumer extra
value and serves as a deterrent to downloading."
Twisted Sister leading the DVDplus charge with Live at Wacken The Reunion
is not the first time the band has been at the "cutting edge"
of the music business. Billboard Magazine once reported that the first
CD in the history of recorded music to become a cutout was Twisted Sister's
Dierks-produced 'Come Out and Play'!
The DVD side of Live at Wacken The Reunion – mastered in both
stereo and 5.1 surround sound audio -- features Snider, co-lead guitarist
Jay Jay French, co-lead guitarist Eddie "Fingers" Ojeda, bass
guitarist Mark "The Animal" Mendoza and drummer A.J. Pero
tearing through a blistering set at the world-renowned Wacken Open Air
festival in Germany on August 2, 2003.
The 14 complete live DVD songs are "What You Don't Know (Sure Can
Hurt You)," "The Kids Are Back," "Stay Hungry,"
"Destroyer," "Like a Knife in the Back," "Under
the Blade," "You Can't Stop Rock 'N' Roll," "The
Fire Still Burns," "Shoot 'Em Down," "We're Not
Gonna Take It," "The Price," "Burn in Hell,"
"I Wanna Rock" and "S.M.F."
New, shockingly candid interviews with all five band members trace the
steps from Twisted Sister's initial 1987 breakup through to the full
2003 reunion. These include everything from French and Snider's reconciliation,
a partial 1997 reunion at the Speaks club in Long Island, VH1's 2001
"Behind the Music" episode, a performance at the NY Steel
benefit show after September 11, the 2003 USO tour of American military
bases in South Korea and much more. Rare archival footage from several
of these events is featured. DVD bonuses are the story behind 'Still
Hungry' and the recording of "Mendoza's choir" of family and
friends providing background vocals for the album. Still Hungry, the
re-recording of the classic 1984 album Stay Hungry, was originally supposed
to serve as the CD portion of the DVDplus, but it was released on its
own late in 2004.
The CD side includes previously unreleased live versions of "Bad
Boys (of Rock 'N' Roll)," "Born to Be Wild," "I'll
Never Grow Up Now!" "You Know I Cry" and "You Can't
Stop Rock 'N' Roll" recorded between 1980 and 1982, and six songs
from the Wacken concert, including "What You Don't Know (Sure Can
Hurt You)," "The Kids Are Back," "Stay Hungry,"
"Like a Knife in the Back," "The Fire Still Burns"
and the CD-side-only "I Am (I'm Me)."
"Live at Wacken The Reunion is really the story of how a band breaks
up at the peak of its game and manages to come back bigger than ever,"
French says. "After we reunited in 2003, we headlined European
festivals that we used to be in the middle of the bill on during our
original run."
Technical obstacles delayed Live at Wacken The Reunion, which was originally
planned to contain just the Wacken concert and Still Hungry. The technical
issues were resolved and, during that time, the project grew and became
much more than what Twisted Sister had first conceived.
"We decided to make a documentary about the band's comeback. We
spent our own money to do this, including writing a script and creating
a timeline. This was an idea for a film -- a piece of art, something
more substantial than just a concert. I think it's fitting since I think
we're performance artists, not just a heavy metal band," French
says. "It shows how we grew on a personal level and realized how
special the band is and how we appreciate each other more now. Making
this DVDplus was a catharsis."
Nearly two years of work has paid off handsomely. Live at Wacken The
Reunion turned into a remarkable, fully realized examination of Twisted
Sister.
"It's not simply a concert film. There's a bigger story here. It's
the story of a band coming out of dormancy and an inside look at that
band going from zero to 60 in a few seconds. Why did this happen now?
A lot of bands that were popular in the '80s are revered even more these
days," French says. "That's the question we're asked over
and over again: Why would a band come back after 16 years? This DVDplus
shows how that evolution occurred. Forces larger than the band brought
us back together, and that can't be overstated."
The band has scheduled more performances for 2005 to promote Live at
Wacken The Reunion. For all the latest news and tour date information,
visit www.twistedsister.com.
The Philadelphia show on July 15 is a benefit concert for the band's

- STEVE ZETROSOUZA TO EMCEE THRASH AGAINST CANCER BENEFIT; DEATH ANGEL
GUITARIST TED AGUILAR'S SIDE PROJECT, MUDFACE, ADDED TO BILL
Steve "Zetro" Souza, ex-vocalist for Bay area thrash bands
Legacy and Exodus, will emcee the Thrash Against Cancer Benefit, on
Friday, July 9, at The Pound SF outdoor amphitheatre. Headliners Testament
will be joined by Hirax, Laaz Rockit and Vicious Rumors.
"It's great to help out these families because I have children
of my own and I would hate to see one of them lost to this dreadful
disease," said Souza. "I'm sure everybody at some time in
their lives has lost someone to cancer and they know how devastating
it is."
Souza had the privilege of singing for two of the most influential bands
in the Bay area. He originally sang for Legacy, later renamed Testament,
from 1983 to 1986. He left to join the now-legendary thrash band, Exodus,
for whom he sang with until 1992. Souza rejoined Exodus in 2003 and
the band recorded their first album in 11 years, the critically acclaimed
Temple Of The Damned, which was voted "Best Metal Album" last
year by the readers of Metal Maniacs.
"The Bay area metal scene is my home," said Souza. "It's
what made me what I am and who I am. Our scene is famous all over the
world for the thrash bands it has produced and I'm proud to be a part
of that history."
Mudface, formally SIFT, the side project featuring Death Angel guitarist
Ted Aguilar, has been added to the Thrash Against Cancer benefit. This
will be the band's first show for new members, guitarist Rich Pia and
bassist Nila, as well as their first performance under the name Mudface.
"It feels great to play on the same stage with bands that I grew
up listening to and still listen to now," said Aguilar. "I'm
excited and everyone involved is excited; not only to play music with
great friends, but to play music for a good cause."
Mudface's current lineup is: Chris Dinsmore (vocals), Ted Aguilar (guitar),
Rich Pia (guitar), Nila (bass) and Danny Stevenson (drums). The band
recently reformed from a two-year hiatus due to the members' duties
with their main bands.
"Mudface is basically a side project for all of us since we all
have our priority bands," said Aguilar. "We all share the
same thing. We love to play HEAVY music."
The proceeds from the Thrash Against Cancer benefit will aid in the
financial recovery for families dealing with life-altering medical diagnosis.
Among the families that will benefit from the concert are Keith and
Brandy Regan, whose son, Cole Regan, was born with cancer (leukemia
/ AML) and survived up until three months short of his second birthday
before passing away on July 28, 2004. The show will also help other
families who have who have children with pediatric cancer and are in

- THE OLD DEAD TREE COMPLETE NEW ALBUM
It has been two years since THE OLD DEAD TREE released their first full-length
album entitled The Nameless Disease. It's now time for their promising
follow upThe Perpetual Motion, recorded in Stage One Studio with well-respected
producer Andy Classen (www.stage-one-studio.de). We can already reveal
some of the titles; the thrilling opener "Out of Breath,"
the catchy track "1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8&" and the breathtaking
title "Everyday Life." Melodic singing alternated by vast
grunts as the debut album, but more varied and with new paths taken.
The album was recorded with the new lineup: Manuel Munoz - vocals &
guitars, Nicolas Chevrolier - guitars & backing vocals, Vincent
Danhier - bass and Foued Moukid - drums.
Season of Mist releases The Perpetual Motion on the 29th of August.
Before this date the band will already play some of the new tracks during
the Fury Fest in France (www.furyfest.com)
and the Summer Darkness (www.summerdarkness.nl)
and Baggerfest in The Netherlands. THE OLD DEAD TREE will tour Europe
during October and November 2005.
"It has been a great pleasure working with THE OLD DEAD TREE again!
I really think that this band is standing out in the current European
metal scene with their unique musical style. I am impressed, because
they easily combine Extreme metal, Dark rock and Pop music...
This time, the guys from THE OLD DEAD TREE did a real great job in their
preparation for the new album The Perpetual Motion. They did perfect
arrangements but still all the songs are very catchy. Manuel Munoz's
vocals are exceptional, sliding without any effort from one style to
another. The guitars parts are mixing aggressive riffs and beautiful
melodic parts, while the efficient combination of drums and bass is
putting efficient groove and rythms into the music!
The work-out was even much better this time - We did the whole recordings/mixing/mastering
process here at Stage-One-Studio which made the sound more compact and
also much heavier than on the previous album.
I really enjoyed working with them and I think they have a big future
as a band... In fact, let me say that they have reached perfection with
their new album The Perpetual Motion!" - Andy Classen - Producer

- ANTIMATTER's Planetary Confinement Set For July 26th Release Vie The
End Records
The saddest album of the year. Antimatter moves toward richer, more
organic textures with Planetary Confinement. Forsaking the electronic
elements found on Saviour and Lights Out, natural string, piano and
drum sounds form the foundation, with beautiful melancholy vocalizations
provided by male and female vocalists. Recorded in two sessions, one
in Ireland directed by Duncan Patterson (ex-Anathema), the other in
England by Mick Moss. Features a contemplative, morose and quite liberal
interpretation of Trouble's "Mr. White." For fans of Portishead,
Massive Attack, Pink Floyd and anyone that feels the weight on the world
on their shoulders. Metal

- ULVER's Blood Inside Set For July 12th Release Via The End Records
The strange, stray birds of the black metal branch fly off into another
metamorphosis. Blood Inside sees Ulver's evolution moving on a grand
scale. Gaining much experience throughout the five years between their
last proper studio album, PerditionCity, and this emergency-room excursion,
Blood Inside offers more vocals, more variety and infinite interpretations.
9 surgically precise shapeshifts, performed with a wide array of instruments
and unorthodox operational techniques. Black sheep? Never. Wolves prey
upon sheep. Written, performed and produced by Ulver, with a little
help from legendary producer/mixer/artist Ronan Chris Murphy (King Crimson's
preferred audio pilot). Includes a video clip. All hail the new pope!
If you're new, come see why this band has been nominated for a Grammy

- INTO ETERNITY, JAG PANZER Conquer Mexico
Having performed in over 20 countries across North America and Europe
supporting their album Buried In Oblivion, Canadian progressive death
metal band Into Eternity just added a new country to their resume, Mexico.
Guitarist/growler Tim Roth returned from the Monterrey Metal Fest last
week with the highest praise: “The festival was a complete success.
We went on at 1:35pm on Saturday to thousands of fans. The crowd seemed
hungry for metal. ‘Spiraling Into Depression’ went over
the best from our set and after the show we met a lot of fans and signed
everything that they had.”
Jag Panzer guitarist Mark Briody, whose band headlined the second stage
concurred: “I had high expectations for our first appearance in
Mexico. I expected a festival attended by hordes of crazed metal fans;
my expectations were exceeded, and then exceeded again and again.
“There were 2 stages and they were a good distance apart, and
to watch the whole crowd move from stage to stage was incredible. I
noticed something unusual from the stage during the first chorus of
the song: I’d see about one-fourth of the crowd singing along.
By the next chorus , about half the crowd was singing, and by the end
the whole crowd was singing. It was great to see people who were unfamiliar
with the song learn it on the spot and participate.
“Sign me up for any more shows in Mexico. Mexico RULES!”
Into Eternity began their North American tour yesterday with the first

IMPIETYs diabolical birth began in January 1990 with: Shyaithan (bass/vocals),
XXXul (guitars) and Iblyss (battery) under heavy influences early BATHORY,
SARCOFAGO, early POSSESSED, early MORBID ANGEL and BLASPHEMY.
In 2004 Shyaithan established an international line-up. Oscar Garcia
(drummer from HACAVITZ) and Antimo Buonanno (ex-DISGORGE, lead guitars
from HACAVITZ and BLOOD REAPING) and Eduardo Guevara from BLOOD REAPING
joined the Imperial War Command! IMPIETY signed with AGONIA RECORDS
for 3 full length releases and a mini album.
The band recorded their 4th full length album of 8 songs Paramount Evil
at Ambox Studios. Right after the recording the band performed a 9 date
Mexican Tour and 2 weeks long Asian tour that proved to be a success!
In October 2005 the bands will unleash their power and fury over Europe!!!
CENTINEX was formed around September 1990. With 7 full lenght albums
a few European tours, US tour and many festivals behind them in November
Centinex signed a new worldwide deal with Cold Records/Regain Records.
The band started to write material for "World Declension"

studios recording the album. The disc is expected to hit the shops in
Europe in late June followed by USA and Japan after the summer. Early
in the year the band did a few selected shows in Sweden and more dates
have been booked for the spring. This includes several one-off shows,
mini-tours and festivals in Sweden, England and Germany. The band hit
on a full scale european tour in the October 2005 together with IMPIETY.
- HIRAX AND LAAZ ROCKIT ADDED TO THRASH AGAINST CANCER SHOW
Los Angeles thrash metal veterans HIRAX and the recently reunited '80s
Bay Area thrashers Laaz Rockit have been added to the Thrash Against
Cancer benefit, which will be headlined by Testament, on July 9 at The
Pound SF outdoor amphitheatre. Vicious Rumors, announced last week,
will also take part in this historic gathering of Bay area musicians.
The proceeds from the show will aid in the financial recovery for families
dealing with life-altering medical diagnosis. Among the families that
will benefit from the concert are Keith and Brandy Regan, whose son,
Cole Regan, was born with cancer (leukemia/AML) and survived up until
three months short of his second birthday before passing away on July
28, 2004. The show will also help other families who have who have children
with pediatric cancer and are in severe need of help. These families
struggle on a daily basis to pay for medicine and co-pays, not to mention
household bills and other expenses, to keep their hopes and futures
at a functioning level while battling to keep their child alive.
Keith Regan is a long-time fan of thrash metal and approached Testament's
vocalist Chuck Billy about the possibility of the band playing a benefit
for his family and for other families who have children with pediatric
cancer. Billy brought the Regan's request to the attention of Walter
Morgan, one of the organizers of the Thrash Of The Titans show, and
the benefit began to take shape.
"I am so honored to have all these amazing bands from my past step
up and play this show to aid my family," said Keith Regan. "The
Bay Area has been my home all my life and to have this opportunity for
fans to see this show in our home town is awesome."
Although HIRAX is from Los Angeles, the band considers the Bay area
their second home.
HIRAX has played there many times since 1984, sharing the stage with
Slayer, Exodus, DRI, Dark Angel and Cryptic Slaughter just to mention
a few. These bands helped to create the thrash metal scene and were
instrumental in the genre's worldwide popularity.
"HIRAX is honored to be a part of this benefit," said vocalist
Katon W. De Pena. When we were asked to play this show, we did not hesitate
to join forces with our brothers and sisters from the Bay area. This
benefit will prove that the heavy metal community cares about the fans
more than anything."
HIRAX's 2004 recording, The New Age Of Terror, will be released in the
US this summer on Deep Six Records, and singer Katon W. De Pena's label,
Black Devil Records, will also release Not Dead Yet, a CD consisting
of the band's first two classic records Raging Violence and Hate, Fear
And Power.
Laaz Rocket, formed in 1982, were a mainstay in the Bay area thrash
scene for 9 years. Earlier this month, the original lineup reunited
for the first time since 1991 to play 2 shows with Testament, including
the prestigious Dynamo Festival in Holland. Their appearance at the
Thrash Against Cancer benefit will be their first US show in over 14
years.
"We're excited and honored to be a part of this show to help out
such a worthy cause," said guitarist Aaron Jellum. "It will
be interesting to see all the old friends and fans again from the Bay
area.
Tickets for the Thrash Against Cancer benefit will go on sale Wednesday,
June 1. The Pound amphitheater is located at 100 Cargo Way- Pier 96
(3rd St). This is an all ages event (21 years old w/ID to drink). Tickets
are $40.00 in advance and will be available at The Pound SF's box office
(415-826-5009).

- OPETH JOIN THE ROADRUNNER FAMILY
New York, NY - Roadrunner Records is proud to announce the signing of
Opeth. With a release planned for late summer 2005 -- following a spate
of international touring that includes the much-anticipated Sounds of
the Underground run in the US -- Opeth has never been busier - or more
excited about the prospect of things. "The combination of a strong
label and our best album so far is quite lethal!" states Opeth
singer and guitarist Mikael Akerfeldt
With a musical grasp that spans the baroque to the brutal, Opeth have
spent the past decade honing a sound quite unlike any band in existence;
1994's Orchid being the starting point in the evolution of a sound that
encompasses elements of metal, progressive rock, folk and classical
music. The name Opeth has become synonymous with a soaring, cathedral
of sound that has netted the band a legion of loyal fans and scored
them Grammy award kudos in their native Sweden for their album Deliverance
and were nominated for their other acclaimed opuses Damnation and Blackwater
Park. With the release of their last album, 2003's Damnation, the Swedish
band cemented their position not merely as standard-bearers in heavy
music, but one of the greatest bands of the present day.
Since the merger of Opeth's former label Music For Nations into BMG,
Opeth have been one of the most sought after unsigned bands in the world.
Opeth and its manager, Andy Farrow of The Northern Music Company finally
struck a deal with Roadrunner Records. "Opeth is the sort of band
that humbles you with every note," states Roadrunner A&R man
Mike Gitter who adds Opeth to a personal roster of artists which also
includes the Grammy-nominated Killswitch Engage. "We're excited
and proud to be working with them."
"I think all of us subconsciously had our minds set from the very
beginning about signing to Roadrunner," says Akerfeldt. "For
us it's probably our biggest career move since we started. Roadrunner
is/was the home of many of our favorite metal artists of all time."
He adds, "As I'm writing this I am in the studio and we're recording
the new album I know that this album is going to really KILL! It's sounding
incredible already, and we're nowhere near finished."
Look out for the as-yet-untitled album late-summer 2005.

- SMAXONE Sign To Scarlet
SmaXone debut albumRegression will be released through Scarlet in August
2005. This amazing band features Michael Bogballe (vox) and Brian Brylle
Rasmussen (drums) from MNEMIC and Casper Skafte (guits) and Claus Lillelund
(vox) from ELOPA. The basic idea of Smaxone is to keep the music as
personal and original as possible. The clean and unique voice of Claus
mixed with the screaming of Michael creates a varied and extremely interesting
sound: from hard grinding metalriffs to the more atmospheric rock-ballad
approach, with modern elements as electronic samples, breakbeats and
synthesizers. Let's say that Fear Factory, Devin Townsend and Faith
No More had a meeting in Denmark! The release date of Regression is
planned for the end of August 2005.
Casper comments: "Smaxone is very thrilled and proud to finally
reveal that we have found the perfect record label to release our debut
album Regression! We have known Scarlet Records for a long time since
fellow Danes Invocater and Hatesphere among others have released several
records through this dedicated hard 'n' heavy Italian label and we have

CD
AND LIMITED EDITION CD/DVD PACKAGES BY CAPITOL/EMI
In Stores: June 28, 2005
Megadeth and Dream Theater to Co-headline Dave Mustaine’s “GIGANTOUR;”
Other Mainstage Acts Include Fear Factory, Dillinger Escape Plan and
Nevermore
Hollywood, California – May 2, 2005 – As Megadeth frontman
and guitarist Dave Mustaine prepares to take his GIGANTOUR festival
line-up to major North American cities this summer, Capitol/EMI Music
Catalog Marketing is gearing up to unleash Megadeth’s Greatest
Hits: Back To the Start in two configurations. The 17-track CD and deluxe,
limited edition CD/DVD set will be released June 28, both including
a package essay written by the director of The Decline of Western Civilization
documentary series, Penelope Spheeris.
Megadeth Greatest Hits: Back To The Start follows Capitol/EMI’s
2004 extensive eight-album remastering campaign for the band’s
catalog and the release of the band’s tenth studio album, The
System Has Failed, which debuted at #18 upon its September 2004 release
(Sanctuary Records). The Greatest Hits tracklist, selected by fans in
a poll at the band’s official website, www.megadeth.com, packs
17 top hits and favorites on a 78-minute single disc, including “Peace
Sells,” “Symphony Of Destruction,” “In My Darkest
Hour,” “Holy Wars…The Punishment Due” and “Sweating
Bullets.”
The limited edition CD/DVD package is expanded to add approximately
40 minutes of video content, including a new Mega-Mix music video for
"Kill The King," edited from past music videos and behind
the scenes footage, seven previously unreleased live performance cuts
from the band's 1999 Risk tour, and a preview for the forthcoming 2-DVD
set, Arsenal Of Megadeth. To be released this fall, Arsenal Of Magadeth
is a new career anthology including videos, live performances, interviews
and Dave Mustaine's home movies of the band on the road. Pre-orders
for the two new Greatest Hits: Back To The Start packages will be taken
at the band’s official website: www.megadeth.com,
just as Megadeth’s remastered catalog titles were first offered
last year.
Co-headlined by Megadeth and Dream Theater, with other mainstage acts
Fear Factory, Dillinger Escape Plan and Nevermore, Dave Mustaine’s
six-week GIGANTOUR is set to launch in late July. GIGANTOUR will criss-cross
North America, with stops in amphitheatres and arenas in cities including
Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Detroit, Toronto, Montreal, Washington,
Philadelphia, Boston, Denver and Minneapolis, among others, implementing
a “fan friendly” ticket price of approximately $35. Mustaine
notes, “I think people may want an affordable alternative to the
choices out there, along the lines of a pure music festival, like ‘Monsters
of Rock’ or ‘Clash of the Titans’.”
GIGANTOUR, whose moniker was inspired by the classic 1960s cartoon “Gigantor,”
follows Megadeth’s sold-out 2004 “Blackmail The Universe”
tour in support of The System Has Failed and the band’s extensive
catalog reissue campaign. Bandmates Glen Drover (guitar), James MacDonough
(bass) and Shawn Drover (drums) will once again join Dave Mustaine on
the road.

- BENEATH THE MASSACRE - Evidence of Inequity
Make way for the new undisputed champions of Canadian death metal: Beneath
the Massacre. One listen is all it will take to convince you of the
veracity of such a bold statement. This band has it all, from insanely
fast gravity blasts to devastating breakdowns. Mixed by Yannick St-Amand
(Ion Dissonance, Despised Icon) and mastered by Alan Douches (Shadows
Fall, Unearth), Beneath the Massacre's "Evidence of Inequity"
is a skillful demonstration of astonishing technicality and relentless
brutality. Everyone, from Suffocation and Origin fans to even The Dillinger
Escape Plan enthusiasts will go crazy over this band.
