- CANNIBAL CORPSE guitarist update from the band! - Guitarist Jeremy
Turner (ex-Origin) will be replacing Jack Owen (who quit earlier this
month) on our upcoming tours. It is too early to say if he will wind
up being the permanent replacement, but so far he is doing very well
learning the songs. Jeremy is a dedicated guitarist and a dedicated
death metaller, as fans of his previous work already know. Learning
18 songs in less than 3 weeks is a tough job, and we want to thank Jeremy
for working hard to get the job done. www.cannibalcorpse.net

- UNEARTH Update from Trevor - "The Headbanger's Ball tour got
us so much attention from press and otherwise. We aren't really used
to it, so it was pretty cool. We are getting ready for our short Canadian

Murder. We also have a show I London coming up. I heard that it was
almost sold out, which is amazing. We haven't been in Europe since Spring
2002 so we are excited to go back, we only wish we could do more than
one show."

- THE RED CHORD Update from Guy - "We are continuing to rehearse,
write and put stuff together for the new record. We'd much rather continue
to tour for Fused Together In Revolving Doors, but we need to write
a new record. We'll be going into the studio late summer, but we haven't
lined up a producer or a studio yet. We're really planning on just taking
the advance and recording it ourselves on a 4-track."

- CATTLE DECAPITATION banned in Germany! - On July 13th, the new CATTLE
DECAPITATION album Humanure will see the light of day! Be prepared for
another nine songs (+ intro and outro) of brutal Death Metal with Grindcore
influences. The biggest improvement is the addition of some eerie and
epic melodies that will haunt you to the death! Beautiful!
The new album Humanure starts off where their debut album on Metal Blade
To Serve Man left off, dealing with the rape of the earth, it's natural
resources, and the unjust treatment of animals.
Recorded with producer Bill Metoyer (Slayer, WASP, Six Feet Under) Humanure
will feature the latest addition to the band, drummer Michael Laughlin.
The band parted ways with drummer David Astor in May of 2003 due to
his inability to live up to the obligations of touring and regular necessities
of the band.
Once again, the cover artwork is causing some trouble. Our German distributor
SPV refuses to put this album into the stores, therefore in Germany
Humanure will be available via mail order only!
Track listing Humanure:
1. Scatology Domine (intro)
2. Humanure
3. Reduced To Paste
4. Bukkake Tsunami
5. Cloacula: The Anthropophagic Copromantik
6. Chummified
7. Applied Human Defragmentation
8. The Earthling
9. Polyps

- DECEMBER: New Vocalist Revealed
December have officially chosen Eric Dellon as their new vocalist. A
native of New York and Connecticut, Dellon has sung and played guitar
and drums in such bands as Shallow Water Grave and Zombie Apocalypse
(with members of Shai Hulud). December have been auditioning vocalists
since founding member Mark Moots stepped down as frontman earlier this
year.
Guitarist Julian Peach made this statement:
"Although we will all miss Mark I think Eric will have no troubles
finding his own path with the band. I know that Eric is going to help
us breathe new life into the machine."
Dellon had this to say:
"I look forward to bringing a new sound and shape to December and
giving nothing but my best to the band and all their fans."
Dellon, Peach, drummer Jason Thomas, and bassist Asa Dakin, are currently
in Reno, Nevada, writing and rehearsing material for their next Earache

- AL RAVAGE TO RECORD SIDE PROJECT and BAND FINISHING UP RAVAGE ALBUM
TRACKING
Greetings all,
It's been a hellish couple of months, but we are nearing the end of
the recording road. There is finally light at the end of the tunnel.
We have survived a studio flood, computer crashes, and other various
hells and the tracking for the first Ravage album should be completed
soon and mixing will be done early next month.
In other news, in the down time between recording sessions for the main
band, I've begun recording my first solo album. I don't know what the
album will be called yet, but the band will be called Al Ravage and
the music style will be totally different from the main Ravage band,
so there will be no mistaking them. In fact, a lot of the original songs
will be ancient Ravage songs that were never properly recorded and don't
fit the style of Ravage these days. I would classify the sound I'm going
for as a brand of cyber punk metal... raw recordings....losts of first
takes...but with a clean digital sound and lots of effects... kind of
like if Alice Cooper were singing for the Misfits in the year 2050.
You'll see what I mean... should be interesting. I'm trying to get lots
of cameos from former Ravage members, and people from the local metal
scene. I plan on getting serious about recording in early-mid June when
the Ravage album is being finished up and Nick will be away in Virginia,
but so far I've already recorded basic tracks for the songs
1. Termination
2. No More
3. Dead Star
4. Father Of The Atom
5. Know It All
6. Speed Demons
There may also be a number of crazy non-metal covers, and a few more
originals. I may also be doing a version of "Breakin' The Law"
with Disengaged at some point and a Disengaged cover, though there's
been no word on that as of yet.
I don't know if the project will be a full CD or EP, or if it will be
released by a label or by me, or if it will come out this year, but
it won't be out until after the Ravage album has been out for a while
because I don't want to cause any confusion. So maybe at the end of
the year I will shop it to labels etc.
Hopefully by the next update I will have sound clips from the Ravage
album, the completed cover art, and maybe even a label announcement
if we are that far along.
Till then,
RAVAGE IN PEACE!!!
- CONGRESS is considering two bills that would hold bands, DJs, bartenders,
promoters, venue owners, radio stations and others liable if a patron
uses drugs at a nightclub or concert http://www.musicdish.com/mag/?id=9494
In response to both bills, the Drug Policy Alliance declared April 24th
a "Day and Night of Outrage" over the legislation and launched
a website, www.protectlivemusic.org
to coordinate the work of thousands of concerns music fans and business
owners. Voters in dozens of cities, from Billings, Montana to New York
City are expected to take action on April 24th, including circulating
petitions to Congress, passing out flyers, protesting, and holding fundraisers
to raise money for the campaign. The day and night of action kicks off
a four-month national campaign to stop the legislation, that will culminate
in a concert on the lawn of Congress in August. For a full list of tomorrow's

Representative Tim Ryan
222 Cannon House Office Building
Washington, DC 20515
Dear Representative Ryan,
I'm writing to urge you to oppose the CLEAN-UP Act (H.R. 834) in its
current form. Please do not sponsor this legislation. If you are currently
a co-sponsor, please carefully review and consider removing Section
305. While most of the CLEAN-UP Act is unobjectionable (mainly providing
new money and training for the safe clean up of illegal methamphetamine
laboratories), Section 305 ought to be removed. If enacted, Section
305 would make it a federal crime - punishable by up to nine years in
prison - to promote "any rave, dance, music, or other entertainment
event, that takes place under circumstances where the promoter knows
or reasonably ought to know that a controlled substance will be used
or distributed." Since it is reasonable to assume that music concerts
- whether rock, country, or rap -attract some people who want to use
or sell drugs, this provision makes criminals out of every concert promoter,
nightclub owner, and stadium or arena owner.
The CLEAN-UP Act is too broad. It permits the federal government to
punish people for the crimes of others and stifles free speech and musical
expression. Moreover, it gives too much power and discretion to prosecutors,
who may use it to target events they personally don't like - such as
Hip Hop concerts and gay and lesbian fundraisers. There are no provisions
that offer protections for free speech and innocent business owners.
CLEAN-UP, if passed, will not be enforced equally. Given the continued
and growing threat of terrorism and increasing local, state and federal
budget deficits, Congress simply can't afford to enact misguided legislation
that will not solve problems associated with drug use at concerts, nightclubs
or other public events. I strongly urge you to oppose this legislation
in its current form.

- DOWNSET JOINS PROJEKT REVOLUTION TOUR
downset. has just been confirmed to join Linkin Park on the second stage
of Projekt Revolution, featuring Korn, Snoop Dogg, The Used, and Less
Than Jake on this summer's tour.
downset. will unleash songs from their long awaited 4th album, "Universal",
on the tour. "Universal" is slated to release June 1st, on
Seattle-based Hawino Records. The band just completed 11 blistering
new songs, and has been performing sporadically as they return to the
top of the amalgamated world they created over a decade ago.
Founded in Los Angeles in the late 80's as part of the thriving hardcore
scene, downset. has evolved into an icon of sorts. As the original blenders
of rap, funk, hardcore, punk, metal, and socially aware lyrics, they
drew influences from Black Flag to Black Sabbath, Public Enemy to Bob
Marley.
Their reemergence marks the strength and integrity that has been held
high in the eyes and ears of fans and believers. And while their previous
efforts have sold close to 300,000 copies worldwide, "Universal"
is set to follow suit. Tracks like "Forever", "All Crews",
"Black Glock", and "Jumpin' Off", showcase the uncompromising
anger and gritty reality downset. fans have learned to expect.
Projekt Revolution kicks off July 23rd and will be hitting 32 different
cities through the US. Tickets for every stop are on sale now. Head
over to ProjektRevolution.com
for buy links and all other additional information or go to www.downset.net.
- "LIZZY BORDEN" GUITAR PLAYER IN FATAL AUTO ACCIDENT MAY
17TH
HOLLYWOOD (May 18, 2004) – It saddens me to convey that Alex Nelson,
guitarist for metal band Lizzy Borden, perished in a head-on collision
the afternoon of May 17th, 2004.
Alex Nelson joined Lizzy Borden, after replacing Tony Matuzak, on guitar
before the recording of The Murderess Metal Roadshow. Alex maintained
his place in the band and went on to tour with Lizzy all over the world.
He loved the music and loved the band, but most of all he loved life.
Alex will be truly missed by all that had the gift of his friendship.
We shall miss him dearly, as he was just starting his new life with
his wife Angel Nelson. Recently moving to Palm Springs , the couple
had purchased their new home and starting a rental business for the
condo they had also purchased. They were living their dream life together
only to end in a heartbreaking tragedy.
This Sunday the band Starwood (all Lizzy Borden members, including Lizzy)
will be performing at the House of Blues on Sunset Strip. They will
be performing a few Lizzy Borden songs in tribute to their lost brother.

- After the success of MUTILATED's debut album 'Deviriginated Genital
Pulp' one of my top priorities was to re-sign these guys and the deal
is done. We have just agreed to a one album deal.
Of course there aren't too many details at this point but Mutilated
is hard at work on writing new material which will give Mutilated more
of their own identity. Comparisons to Cannibal Corpse and Suffocation
is great but they wanted to find their own sound and the new stuff I
have heard so far is going to impress their current fans and surely
land them new fans.
A studio hasn't been chosen yet but will be shortly. The plan is to
record sometime in December and have the CD ready for an early 2005
release.
Other Mutilated news... if all goes well sometime in September there
will be a short tour of the east coast and midwest. The tour is in the
planning stages right now. Ideally an established headliner will be
chosen and one other band from Forever Underground besides Mutilated
will be on the tour as well. More info on that soon.

- Wondering What's Next With CHEVELLE?
CHEVELLE RETURNS WITH A ROAD HARDENED SOUND
PETE, JOE AND SAM LOEFFLER WILL CO-PRODUCE NEXT ALBUM WITH CHEVELLE'S
WONDER WHAT'S NEXT ENGINEER ELVIS BASKETTE
New York, NY - Chevelle is currently in a Los Angeles studio working
on the follow-up to the trio's 2002 Epic Records platinum debut Wonder
What's Next. Chevelle will co-produce the as-yet-untitled album with
Michael "Elvis" Baskette, who engineered Wonder What's Next.
The Loeffler brothers - Pete (guitar and vocals), Joe (bass) and Sam
(drums) - spent 18 months on the road supporting Wonder What's Next
with headlining tours of the United States, Canada and Europe, stints
opening for Stone Sour, Audioslave, Disturbed, Foo Fighters and played
the main stage at Ozzfest 2003 and second stage at Ozzfest 2002. Chevelle
also dominated the radio waves with their debut single "The Red"
which continued play for 18 months, "Send the Pain Below"
was a number one single for two months, and "Closure" broke
into a top five single.
Chevelle documented its live show with a pair of releases in 2003. Live
From the Road, a 10-song bootleg that features performances of "The
Red," "Mia," and more. Live From the Norva, a live-DVD
featuring 14 songs recorded at The Norva in Norfolk, VA. Directed by
Sam Erickson (Good Charlotte, John Mayer) the concert includes performances
mixed with behind the scenes footage.
"Chevelle's extensive touring hardened the band's sound,"
says Pete, who promises the new songs will sharpen the band's harder
edge. "I want to avoid being one of those bands that follows-up
a successful album by watering down what they did before," he says.
"I asked Sam to break out the double-kick bass-drum pedal because
I want to make an album that's more aggressive than anything we've done
before but doesn't sacrifice melody or dynamics."
One of the songs expected to appear on Chevelle's new album is "Still
Running," which is currently featured on The Punisher movie soundtrack.
"We're pretty sure that song will make the new album," explains
Sam, "but it probably won't be the same version."
Chevelle expects their second album for Epic Records to be out in the
fall of 2004 with an extensive tour to follow.

- MUDVAYNE TAPS PRODUCER DAVE FORTMAN FOR NEW ALBUM
Mudvayne Predicts Brutality and Beauty for Third Studio Release Following
RIAA Gold Certified Albums The End of All Things to Come and Debut L.D.
50
New York, NY - Mudvayne will begin pre-production for the quartet's
third, as-yet-untitled, Epic Records release with producer Dave Fortman
(Superjoint Ritual, Evanescence). Singer, Chad Gray; guitarist, Greg
Tribbett; bassist, Ryan Martinie and drummer Matt McDonough chose Fortman
because they felt Dave could combine the band's extreme elements.
We've been extremely fortunate to work with some amazing producers,
says Gray. Garth Richardson captured the band's raw energy on the first
record and David Bottrill gave our music a three-dimensional quality
on the second record. For this record, we asked Dave Fortman to produce
because we wanted someone who can bring both of those elements together
into a sound that's brutal and beautiful. Scheduled for release this
fall, the upcoming album follows the success of L.D. 50 and The End
of All Things to Come – both of which were certified gold.
Before heading to The Plant in Sausalito, Fortman plans to spend time
with Mudvayne in pre-production. I've found that those first few days
are the most important when it comes to setting the album's tone and
challenging the band about their goals and fine-tuning the arrangements
for maximum emotional impact. Look for Mudvayne's new album to hit stores
this fall.

- Screaming Ferret Wreckords Unveils Plans to Release New ANVIL Studio
Effort and Several Key Catalogue Titles This Summer
Over the past few years, Screaming Ferret Wreckords, LLC has aligned
itself with budding new artists, as well as a selection of traditional
metal bands in an effort to reintroduce lost classics to the audience
of the New Millennium. The label is now proud to present a campaign
to introduce Toronto, Ontario legends ANVIL to the new generation of
metal fans. The campaign includes the domestic reissue of several catalogue
titles (some of which are either out of print or never before available
in the US), as well as the brand new studio album Back To Basics.
For over 2 decades, ANVIL has been a band that firmly understood that
Metal should not be taken completely seriously. The band’s brand
of anthemic metal fuses intense, piercing metal with witty social sarcasm
to create a unique brand of music rarely seen and never equaled. Back
To Basics, produced by renowned Canadian metal mastermind Pierre Rémillard
(who had produced 2 previous Anvil albums, as well as 4 from Cryptopsy,
and titles from Gorguts, Quo Vadis, and Kataklysm) is described by frontman/guitarist
Steven “Lips” Kudlow as “a great pounding feel, like
Accept meets Ozzy's Bark At the Moon.”
The tracklisting includes:
Fuel For the Fire Can't Catch Me (When My Pants Are Down)
Keep It Up Go Away
Song of Pain Bottom Feeder
You Get What You Pay For Cruel World
The Chainsaw Fast Driver
The Back To Basics cover art available for viewing here:
http://www.geocities.com/tgalloca/basics_big.htm
Screaming Ferret Wreckords will soon be releasing seven classic ANVIL
albums; discs that defined and secured the band’s status in the
true heavy metal elite. Titles include three currently out-of-print
releases: 1987’s Strength Of Steel (which featured such classics
as “Concrete Jungle”, “Straight Between The Eyes”,
and “Mad Dog”, the song that yielded a quite humorous video
that received recurrent airplay on MTV’s original Headbangers
Ball program), 1988’s Pound For Pound (featuring “Blood
On The Ice” and “Toe Jam”), 1989’s Past &
Present Live (a brilliant live set capturing such seminal ANVIL anthems
as “Forged In Fire”, “Metal on Metal”, “March
of the Crabs”, and “Mothra”). SFW is also releasing
a number of titles that never received a proper United States release,
including 1991’s Worth The Weight, 2001’s Plenty Of Power,
2002’s Still Going Strong, and the special 1999 Anthology of Anvil,
the perfect introductory piece to the manic, semi-insane world of ANVIL.
Lips is shocked and thrilled with this development in the band’s
career:
“I can't believe after a quarter of a century we will finally
be released to the unsuspecting American audience. I've never understood
after all these years why Anvil has done so little in the United States
in the way of getting our recordings released, as well as touring. It
is a true tragedy if not a crime! For those people who have never heard
of us, it might be a surprise to find out we've been recording music
before the existence of what was once called Heavy Metal, and to be
more exact NWBHM (New Wave of British Heavy Metal). Our first album
came out in 81, however all the tracks on it were written over a long
period of time, some dating back as far as 73 or 74! This new opportunity
to release new and back catalog would not have come true if it weren't
for the bravery and dedication to true metal by Screaming Ferret Wreckords.
We have been pleasing European audiences for years and hope with all
our might that we can do the same in America.”
Anvil is soon embarking on a two-month European tour and plan to perform
North American shows over the summer. The first date booked is the Gates
of Hell 2004 Festival on July 24th at the FunHaus in Toronto, Ontario
alongside such Canadian metal legends as Razor and Exciter.
Anvil joins a proud group of classic metal bands, like Nuclear Assault
and Meliah Rage, who have experienced rejuvenation and renewed interest
through the work and partnership with Screaming Ferret Wreckords, LLC,
an organization designed to further expose new talent and to introduce
groundbreaking classics to a new audience.

- Multi-Cultural Power Metal Heroes DRAGONFORCE
Release Potent Sophomore Effort Sonic Firestorm May 11th
On European Tour with W.A.S.P.
Hailing from the United Kingdom, DRAGONFORCE is quickly becoming a force
with which to be reckoned. The band releases their rampaging sophomore
effort Sonic Firestorm through Sanctuary/Noise Records on May 11th.
Not only is the band a unique entity in that they perform a brand of
music that is nowadays nearly non-existent in their British home, but
the band is comprised of such multi-cultural members, such a union would
seem impossible. Composed of Herman Li (lead guitar – born in
Hong Kong), ZP Theart (vocals – born in South Africa), Vadim Pruzhanov
(keyboards – born in the Ukraine), Sam Totman (guitar –
born in England), Adrian Lambert (bass – born in England), and
David Mackintosh (drums – born in England), the band has evolved
very quickly over the course of two albums.
Having released their debut Valley of the Damned in 2003 to much critical
acclaim, the release granted them amazing touring opportunities with
heroes & legends like Halford, Stratovarius, Virgin Steele, and
Helloween, as well as prestigious spots on such festivals as Sweden
Rock, Torres Rock (Spain), Young Metal Gods (Germany), and Bloodstock
(UK).
Early DRAGONFORCE can best be described as a mix of modern melodic power
metal with the fury of speed metal. Since then, the band’s style
has evolved into an even more distinctive sound. By combining their
favorite aspects of different rock and metal styles – ranging
from classic/power/thrash/speed/death/progressive/hard rock –
played with high-octane energy, DRAGONFORCE’s sound may now best
be described as Extreme Power Metal. The supremely potent and instantly
memorable melodies that stand shoulder-to-shoulder with outrageous speed,
power, complex twin-guitar wizardry and extreme metal drumming are just
some of the qualities that separate this band from the masses. Truly
a Sonic Firestorm!
DRAGONFORCE is currently touring Europe with shock-rock stalwarts W.A.S.P.

- SUSPERIA US RELEASE DATE CONFIRMED
Philadelphia: Candlelight Records confirms June 29 as the US release
date for the new album from Norway's Susperia. Titled Unlimited, it
is the third full-length album from the growing melodic metal band.
With Unlimited, Susperia's musical charm is fully realized with a sonic
epic that is sure to be one of the year's most talked about albums.
Recorded at Subsonic Society Studios in Oslo and Studio Fredman (At
The Gates, Soilwork) in Gothenburg, Sweden, Unlimited has already gathered
substantial critical acclaim throughout Europe. And with a video recently
filmed for album track "Chemistry," Susperia's time to fully
conquer US audiences is now. Vocalist Althera says, "we know there's
been problems in the past getting hold of our albums in the US, but
that's all history now. It's time to look forward and we're real happy
that fans in the states are gonna get the chance to hear and buy our
new album. We're pleased with the result and Europe seems to agree with
us - so satisfy your curiosity."
Formed in 1999 by exiting Dimmu Borgir Drummer Tjodalv, Susperia found
themselves part of a massive 10-label bidding war. The initial victor
being Nuclear Blast. Their first album, Predominance, reportedly sold
over 10,000 units it is first three months of worldwide release. Tours
in support of In Flames, Nevermore, Lacuna Coil and Dimmu Borgir would
place the band in front of excited audiences throughout Europe, with
their single US performance coming via the annual Milwaukee Metal Fest.
The band's second album, Vindication, would follow and equally impressed
fans and critics. But a change was in the air. Signing with Tabu Records
(recently confirming US license with Candlelight for the Americas) in
late 2003, Susperia, completed by bass guitarist Memnock, guitarists
Elvorn and Cyrus and vocalist Athera, have rearmed and are set to expand
their grasp on the music that has impressed so many in relatively short
time.
With feature stories already confirmed for Metal Maniacs and Brave Words
Bloody Knuckles, Unlimited is already setting up for a solid run for
its US release. The band are looking to tour the US for first time in
late 2004/early 2005. Watch for details.
Track listing for Unlimited: Chemistry, The Coming Past, Situational
Awareness, Devil May Care, Off the Grid, Years of Infinity, Home Sweet

position as one of the leaders in European symphonic ripping black metal.
- Denata is no more...
April 25 the day we never thought would comež but it did. The lack of
inspiration has been overwhelmed the last months and our motto has always
been to do what we do because it's fun. It hasn't been fun the latest
months and because of that we have decided to move on and do something
totally different to get the inspiration back. You will probably see
us in different bands in the future but right now we just need to settle
down and do nothing for a while. Metal is our life and I'm pretty sure
we'll meet again, somehow, somewhere...
We wish to thank all our fans, radiostations, magazines and all other
that have supported Denata during these six years of moshing, without
you we would never have made it this far. Also we wish to raise our
axes for Scott Heckner and Phil Fasciana at Arctic Music Group for all
the great years working together.
No more interviews will be answered.
Now the corpses are waiting so we need to move on...
Total fucking thrash attack!!!!
