- FRETERNIA is just working in the songwriting of their third album,
first with the new guitarist Niclas Karlsson (ex-Zonata).
- A message from MINDTWIST:
"This past Thursday, Rob decided to leave Mindtwist. Kevin
informed us that at that decision, that he would also not continue.
With only two members remaining, it would be impossible to continue
in the same mindset and spirit. Any questions you have regarding
their reasons please take it up with them. It was their decision and
their reasons, and both I nor Fabian would be able to adequately
portray their feelings, nor care to. Please watch for new projects
in the future, and I truly thank you all again, for your undying
support."
-allison
" I would thank everyone who helped us out during all these years
and
I apologize to those who believed in us and we have let down for a
few nonsense reasons."

- NEVERMORE "Enemies Of Reality" released July 28th, 2003
+ hear the new songs for the 1st time: live on Rock Hard Festival!
Only a year prior to the band's ten-year anniversary, the US-Metal kings
release their fifth album, Enemies Of Reality, on July 28th, 2003. Joining
a variety of musical sub-genres that were never meant to be mutually
exclusive, the band successfully emblazoned themselves with a grey enigmatic
aura that has become their legacy. Once again, it is astonishing how
unbelievably intense music can be.
For two years, NEVERMORE's superbly crafted and complicated versatility
has been brooding. Thanks to the assistance of Queensrÿche/Dokken
producer Kelly Gray, we are once again invited into the band's dark
subconscious with 2003's Enemies Of Reality. It is intelligent, emotionally
complex and technically unbeatable. Their positions in the German Media
Control Charts at 80 and 57 (respectively) with the band's last two
albums pays witness to the fact that NEVERMORE never had any problems
writing high-class albums. Still, with Enemies Of Reality they have
managed to explore the extremes and be even more varied. As with its
predecessors, an outstanding design from cutting-edge artist Travis
Smith was used for Enemies Of Reality.
Another perfect execution forged in the innovative heart of their own
dismal abyss, Enemies Of Reality is NEVERMORE as they should be: dark,
aggressive, and endlessly innovative.
Warrel Dane comments the new record as follows: "being hit over
the head with a wet sock of raw sausage" ... No more words necessary.
Everyone attending the Rock Hard Festival can already look forward to
the European premier of a number of songs from Enemies Of Reality, when
the band is hitting the stage at 17:50 - 18:50 CET Saturday, June 7th.
At 20:30 CET the band is looking forward to meeting you crazy metal-heads
at the Rock Hard booth for a signing-session. Additionally, an exclusive
NEVERMORE T-Shirt is planned for this event.
Don't miss it: NEVERMORE at Rock Hard Festival 07. June 3rd, Gelsenkirchen,
Amphitheater:
Stage time: 17:50 CET - 18:50 CET
Signing-session Rock Hard booth: 20:30 CET

- SKID ROW Releases Long-Awaited Studio CD 'THICKSKIN'
And Documentary DVD in Summer 2003
Extensive Summer Tour with Poison & Vince Neil Planned,
Alongside Select Headlining Performances
Multimillion-selling hard rock band Skid Row is set to explode in 2003
with an impressive string of projects including the upcoming release
of the long-awaited studio album 'Thickskin', a documentary DVD about
the making of the album and a fully packed summer tour schedule with
Poison and Vince Neil and headlining shows. Vocalist Johnny Solinger,
guitarist Snake Sabo, guitarist Scotti Hill, bass guitarist Rachel Bolan
and drummer Phil Varone are thrilled with 'Thickskin'. It will be released
independently in the United States on Skid Row Records this summer on
July 22nd.
" 'Thickskin' has been two years in the making. We're very excited
about this, especially since it's the first Skid Row record for Johnny
and Phil," says Bolan. "It took a long time to record due
to the fact that we had to do it in short bursts because we were touring
a lot the past several years. We were on the road with Kiss and then
we did the Rock Never Stops tour last summer.
"We were writing while we were on the road, and then when there
was a tour break we'd write some more and then record. It required a
lot of hard work. It was kind of like learning to drive in the middle
of a demolition derby!"
Skid Row kept working on the new songs that the songwriting core of
Bolan and Sabo composed, and even debuted some of them live.
The 12 songs on 'Thickskin' include: "New Generation," "Ghost,"
"Swallow Me (The Real You)," "Born a Beggar," "Thick
is the Skin," "See You Around," "Mouth of Voodoo,"
"One Light," "I Remember You Two," "Lamb,"
"Down from Underground" and "Hittin' a Wall."
'Thickskin' is a vicious, aggressive album with a contemporary vibe,
yet it maintains the killer melodic hooks that made earlier albums like
'Skid Row' and 'Slave to the Grind' and their songs "Youth Gone
Wild," "I Remember You," "18 and Life" and
"Monkey Business" all monster hits.
"We didn't consciously strive for a modern sound, nor did we intentionally
try to copy what we've done in the past. 'Thickskin' turned out naturally.
We still listen to everything just like we always have -- whatever's
new out there and the old albums by our favorite bands that influenced
us in the first place," Bolan explains.
Two years in the life of Skid Row are chronicled in the DVD 'Under the
Skin - The Making of Thickskin.' It's scheduled for release in May and
it will give fans a tantalizing taste of 'Thickskin.'
"A friend of ours named Fabio Jafet worked for CBS News and won
a lot of Emmys and he had the idea about making a documentary. He covered
everything from when Johnny joined the band, to the Kiss tour, to the
making of 'Thickskin.' He shot 40 hours of tape over two years and condensed
it for a one-hour DVD," says Bolan. "He was around quite a
bit, but after awhile you forgot he was there.
"On this DVD you get interviews and some previews of the 'Thickskin'
CD as well as footage of us in the studio. In a way, it ends up kind
of like a music video. There is a lot of great bonus footage too. It
shows us out of our musical environment."

- VYNDYKATOR- The Power quintet have begun the writing stages for their
next album "The Chromium Underground". Three songs have thus
far been written and they are "I Am Sinn", "Saturnalia
Rising" and "Penetration Overdose". Unless a deal struck
with a bigger label, "The Chromium Underground" will expectedly
be released through Greece's UNISOUND RECORDS and NY based OUTLAW RECORDINGS
on Vinyl.
The Classic Vinyl version of "Heaven Sent From Hell" will
be released, tentatively, by the end of August through OUTLAW RECORDINGS.
- ALCHEMY X- The upcoming Alchemy X shows will be recorded for a live
EP. The EP will include a remake of the Beatles "He Said, She Said"
and other surprises. The remake, is said to be a cross between Prog
Rock and Stoner Metal (hmmmm quite a
combination). The EP will, quite possibly, be released on Vinyl and
CD through OUTLAW RECORDINGS. More Details forthcoming....
The live A-X shows will feature material from both "A Delicate
Balance" and "11:59:59" These shows will be the first
set of performances to be fronted by Bob Mitchell. Mitchell joined the
band in late 2001. Throughout 2002, Ol' Yeller co-wrote and recorded
the "59" album. Now the prog rockers are ready to put it all
on the line in their live performances. Something to really look foward
to I must say. Stay Tuned.....
- DECEMBER: DOUBLE ESP ENDORSEMENT
DECEMBER axeman Julian Peach scored himself a full endorsement deal
with ESP Guitars, making him the second ESP endorser in the band (after
singer/guitarist Mark Moots!) Congratulations to Julian!
- MORBID ANGEL IMMORTALIZED IN HEAVY METAL BIBLE
According to author Ian Christe, his brand new heavy metal tome, "Sound
Of The Beast: The Complete Headbanging History of Heavy Metal",
is "loaded with Morbid Angel info, amazing quotes from Trey, and
photo evidence from the mid-1990s." Furthermore, the book contains
a list of the 25 Best Metal Albums Of All Time which includes none other
than Morbid Angel's "Formulas Fatal to the Flesh" amongst
its exalted titles. Guitar World Magazine has hailed "Sound Of
The Beast" as "a rousing three-dimensional account of metal
and the people who made it legend".

- Menacing Shock Rockers CRADLE OF FILTH Confirm Headline Dates Alongside
OzzFest
Chilling New Video for "Mannequin" To Be Directed By Thomas
Mignone
Shock Rock is being brought to a new extreme, as British sonic revolutionaries
CRADLE OF FILTH prepare to headline Ozzfest's second stage this year,
thus igniting North America with their singular brand of dramatic intense
heavy music. In addition to Ozzfest, the band has booked a headlining
tour (sponsored by Guitar World Magazine), which will run alongside
the roaming festival and infect the rest of the continent like a rampaging
epidemic. Having achieved much critical acclaim for the recent release
of the Red Ink/Epic debut Damnation and a Day, the band obtained the
notoriety for being the first 'black metal' band to debut in the Billboard
Top 200 charts, and the album has remained in the Top 20 of Metal Radio
charts for 10 weeks running (most band's bow out in 6!).
Musically, the band destroys boundaries and smashes the mold of what
defines extreme. CRADLE OF FILTH is indeed a unique entity, implementing
the edgiest musicianship and blackened elegance possible, while intertwining
a flowing score-like backdrop by employing a 40-piece orchestra &
32-piece choir found in Budapest, Hungary. Entertainment Weekly said
of the album, "It's over-the-top and surprisingly catchy; these
guys could be the talk of this year's Ozzfest."
However, the band's morbid visions & musical apocalyptic revelations
is only part of the band's notorious visage, as CRADLE OF FILTH's name
slithered to infamous proportions over the years due to their impious
eccentricities.
The band has a veritable rap-sheet of indiscrepancies that grows as
they progress.
*They were arrested and held at gunpoint at the Vatican for impersonating
a priest and wearing an 'I Love Satan' t-shirt.
*They nearly caused the cancellation of the Milwaukee Metalfest, because
the governor of Wisconsin tried to ban them from "bringing the
Devil's music to the state".
*They have been banned by numerous US radio stations for their 'obscene
lyrical content'.
*New Jersey was actually concerned about bringing Ozzfest to the state
based on CRADLE OF FILTH's 'suitability issues' alone!
*Their video for "Babalon AD (So Glad For The Madness)" from
Damnation and a Day was quickly banned by MTV for its 'suggestive themes'.
The video can be sampled here: http://www.cradleoffilth.com/video.php
*The band is most infamous for their 'unique' & 'colorful' t-shirt
slogans, like "Dead Girls Don't Say No", "Desire Me Like
Satan", and the most outlandish of them all, "Jesus Is A C***".
It was this last shirt that caused the arrest of 3 people (including
the band's own drummer), the Provost of Glasgow instigated a police
raid to have the shirts removed from Tower Records stores, and the Catholic
League of America has even contacted the band's management demanding
the shirts be taken out of production. Needless to say, the band will
be bringing the shirts on the road with them, as well as a couple new
designs.
On the flipside of controversy, the band has reaped remarkable success,
as they were the first 'black metal' band to sign with a major label
(Sony Music worldwide), and they were the first 'black metal' band to
have a full-length video land in the Billboard video charts (debuting
at #12, and remaining for 7 weeks). CRADLE OF FILTH's well-versed and
highly articulated lyrics were featured in the London Dome as part of
a British language special, the band had a BBC Television program made
about them, and they have sold over a million albums worldwide.
Red Ink/Epic, realizing the band's shocking visual potential (FILTH's
unique stage show frequently includes stilt-walkers & fire-breathers),
commissioned a new conceptual video for Damnation and a Day, this time
for the sinister, romantic track "Mannequin", which will be
helmed by celebrated video director Thomas Mignone (Mudvayne, Slipknot,
Type O Negative, Sepultura, Kittie, etc.) begins shooting on June 11th.
Combining 'live' performance footage with macabre Tim Burton-esque,
stop-motion puppeteer work courtesy of George Higham (www.poepuppet.com),
"Mannequin" will display the grandiose imagery singular to
CRADLE OF FILTH's style.
In a world where corporate pressures have caused the taming of onetime
controversial madmen like Ozzy Osbourne and Marilyn Manson, CRADLE OF
FILTH exists to ensure that humanity does not remain protected in music
entertainment complacency.

- KITTIE TO LEND SUPPORT TO FELLOW LONDON MUSICIAN’S FAMILY
AT FIRST HOMETOWN GIG IN THREE YEARS
LONDON, Ontario – Kittie will make their first hometown appearance
in three years at a June 20 show planned to lend support to the family
of Neil Wolfe, father of local musician Justin Wolfe of the band Acacia
and Gregg Wolfe of the band Dam 13, who has been struggling with cancer
for several years.
“Over the years of playing in Acacia, we have met a lot of friends
and caring people who want to help out as much as they can with my situation,”
said Justin Wolfe. “So it was only fitting to put on this show.
It was more or less meant to be a gift, from Kittie and all the bands
that we have played with and friends, to the family.”
As long-time friends of Acacia, Kittie felt compelled to take part in
the show. "We feel that it is our place to at least try and reach
out to help those who are near and dear to us,” said Kittie guitarist/vocalist
Morgan Lander. “Compassion is the one of the greatest feelings
anyone can have, and if this contribution helps the Wolfe family in
any way, it will make all of us feel like we accomplished something.”
Acacia and Dam 13, which features brother Gregg, will also play. The
all-ages show will be held at Call The Office in downtown London. Doors
are at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $10, with all proceeds benefiting the Wolfe
family’s medical bills.
Kittie will head to Mexico for the first time in late June and will
also play a handful of dates on the East Coast, including Hellfest,
a three-day metal and hardcore extravaganza in Syracuse, N.Y., featuring
99 bands.
Kittie tour dates:
06/20/03 Fri. Call The Office, London Ontario, Canada (Benefit)

- California Groove Rock Icons FU MANCHU Release Go For It…Live!
Double-Live Album On July 22nd Through SPV
Southern California's FU MANCHU has made massive waves for over ten
years, blending fluid grooves with a leaden crunch, sending shockwaves
rumbling across the entire hard rock community. On July 22nd, SPV commemorates
the band's innovative talents with a 2-CD live release, entitled Go
For It…Live!, which was recorded during the band's 2002 California
Crossing world tour.
Originating as a band wanting to inject a charge of SoCal mirth into
the rhythmic grooves their influences, like Black Sabbath & Kyuss,
FU MANCHU quickly evolved, carving a niche of their own with excellent
showmanship backed by infectious songwriting & thunderous sonic
power. The band eventually landed tours with the likes of Motörhead,
P.O.D., and Sevendust, assimilating fans along the way. In 2001, the
band's sponsor, Vans Shoes, asked FU MANCHU to perform a party at the
Sundance Film Festival to commemorate the Dogtown & Z Boys documentary
(which was about the pioneering 1970s Zephyr skateboarding team). During
this span, the band released 7 studio albums and toured virtually everywhere,
including New Zealand & Japan!
Go For It…Live! represents the cumulative effort of the band's
experiences and evolution as a resonating dynamo. Recorded in Stockholm,
Sweden and the band's home turf Los Angeles, CA, the album includes
a bevy of FU MANCHU favorites, from "Ojo Rojo" to the now-famous
cover version of Blue Öyster Cult's "Godzilla". Vocalist
Scott Hill comments on the release, "We had a bunch of shows recorded
to try to pick out the best ones, but we came out with so many songs,
we felt it HAD to be 2 discs. It's probably the most accurate collection
of our best work from our first album to the most recent. We also felt
we've never really captured our true sound in the studio; we're very
full, heavy sounding live. We've come close a few times, as far as rawness,
but the live album represents how we really sound as a band."
Along with vocalist/guitarist Hill, FU MANCHU also consists of lead
guitarist Bob Balch, bassist Brad Davis, and drummer Scott Reeder (who
replaced previous drummer Brant Bjork on the California Crossing tour).
Go For It…Live! is the band's first recorded work with Reeder.
The tracklisting includes:
Disc 1
Hell On Wheels
Laserblast!

- Reunited Metal Titans NUCLEAR ASSAULT Tours To Support Screaming Ferret
Wreckords / SPV Live Album 'Alive Again'
Album in stores July 1st!
Thrash Metal Masters Writing New Material!
The heralded and heavily anticipated return of the most gifted thrash
metal giants thrusts into high gear, when the original lineup of New
York's NUCLEAR ASSAULT initiates a world tour throughout the year to
support the upcoming 'Alive Again' live album for Screaming Ferret Wreckords/SPV
(release date is July 1st).
The band's lineup, consisting of vocalist/guitarist John Connelly, bassist
Danny Lilker, guitarist Anthony Bramante, and drummer Glenn Evans made
their presence known throughout 2002 on select performances & festival
dates around the world in an effort to 'test the waters' - if the world
was ready for their unique, dexterous yet uncompromising metal. The
result set the wheels in motion for the upcoming all-out assault! In
August, Bramante bowed out due to the commitments of his job and was
replaced by the more than capable Erik Burke. Lilker comments on the
upcoming tour: "It's gonna be great to finally tour again! People
seem totally psyched that they will get to see us in the flesh again.
We hope to see all diehard metalheads banging and moshing in the front..."
Formed in 1984 by Danny Lilker (who has also been a founding member
of Anthrax, S.O.D., Brutal Truth, among others), NUCLEAR ASSAULT enjoyed
a ten-year career that spawned 6 studio albums & EPs and a host
of world tours. While emitting a dark sense of humor, the band's catalogue
acknowledged the gamut of social concerns, from political tyranny and
environmental devastation to capitalistic excess and basic human apathy.
Their 1989 opus 'Handle With Care' garnered much critical-acclaim, while
its singles "Critical Mass" and "Trail Of Tears"
received generous MTV airplay.
The forthcoming 'Alive Again' live album represents NUCLEAR ASSAULT's
first release in over 9 years. Lilker explains: "We will soon be
releasing our new live album, so people can see for themselves that
we still have it! I know a lot of thrash bands seem to be reuniting
and some people are wondering 'Can these guys in their late 30's still
hack it?' The answer is undoubtedly yes!"
The disc contains the following tracks:
Rise From The Ashes
Brainwashed
F#
New Song
Critical Mass
Sin
Betrayal
Radiation Sickness
Game Over
Butt F**k
Trail Of Tears
Hang The Pope
'Alive Again' is rounded out with enhanced live video performances as
well as interview segments.
Not content to keep the reunion to a mere commemorative or nostalgic
event, NUCLEAR ASSAULT is also planning a new studio record for the
near future! Danny Lilker offers a sneak preview of what can be expected:
"We are in the process of writing new material, and I can tell
you that it's definitely in the style of the old stuff. Once again speaking
for myself, I think the metal scene NEEDS an injection of classic thrash
metal 'cos I've had enough of people thinking Linkin Park is metal.
We'll have to show these youngsters how metal is really played!"
Tour dates include:

Saturday, July 12 Clifton, NJ Connections

- PAI (Ingenious Audiovisual Productions) is a new Galician record company
directed by the ex-bass player of the band Siniestro Total, Segundo
Grandío. With this new adventure what we are trying to do is
take one step further in the chain which forms the world of music, our
aims are to cover artists and new musical styles that are not recognized
by other channels, reach via the industries of music self-knowledge,
investigate new possibilities and anresourcesd in concrete carry on
working on what we like the most: music.
Due to the amount and variation of musical taste of those who handle
this company, PAI is going to have various subdivisions in order to
canalize the different styles, and since what interests us the most
right now is that you out there know about our first launch, let this
sample be worth the inauguration of PAI ROCK&POP.ARTISTS:
APHONNIC (www.aphonnic.com)
NAME OF THE ALBUM: “SILENNCE”
PRODUCED BY SEGUNDO GRANDIO&APHONNIC
COMPANY: PAI ROCK&POP
STYLE: NU METAL
DISTRIBUTOR DISCMEDI
SILENNCE is out on sale the 9th of June
Aphonnic is a band from Vigo in Galicia, Spain, and is composed of the
following people:
Alex – Drums
Chechu – Vocals
Felipe – Keyboard
Iván – Guitar
Richar – Base
The album SILENNCE has nine songs and has counted on further bycollaborations
Vicente (singer of the band Kannon) and Dj de Laese (scratcher who works
with a group called The Dismal).
The nine themes of the album are varied, apt for all types of public
from the most aggressive like “tango” or “make me
toy” to the most fun (“here aphonnic”) even the “hip-hop”
like “emigrantes si...pero nunca en mi barrio.” Their words
speak of a trouble free life with nothing holding you down, peace and
a world free of war and badness: Child pornography (“waltz of
pleasure”), women abuse (“little girl”), racism (“klan
ku klux,” “emigrantes si..pero nunca en mi barrio”),
violence (“make me toy”), war (“tango”), abandonment
of animals (“never play”) etc.... It also contains the “Here
aphonnic” version which is a perfect adaptation of the song by
Brian Mary & Freddy Mercury (“we will rock you”).
The album counts on a interactive sight where we will be able to see
the video clip of the song “Little girl,” directed by Jorge
Coira (famous for the television series called “TERRA DE MIRANDA”
or the short film called “ENTRE BATEAS”). We also count
on the equipment of MOVI CB, photos of the group live, a making of and
the words of their songs.
A complete album which will not go unseen by the music critics of the
world.

- New ARCH ENEMY Album - "Anthems Of Rebellion" out August
25th 2003!
Last Minute News: ARCH ENEMY confirmed for Rock Hard Festival!
Do you remember what Heavy Metal was meant to be about when you were
young? Yeah, REBELLION!!! And here we go.
Michael Amott: "The title of the new Arch Enemy opus is "Anthems
Of Rebellion". There is a thread of ANTI-establishment and REBELLION
that goes through all the songs lyrics and also the artwork, but I wouldn't
go as far as calling it a full-blown concept, that kind of stuff usually
tends to get in the way of the music. [...] There's an absolute abundance
of HEAVY riffs, THICK harmonies, RIPPING solos, FRANTIC drumming and
SICK screaming - ALL OVER THIS ALBUM! The performances from the individual
members are awesome! We are all so proud of each other!"
The European release date of "Anthems Of Rebellion" will be
the 25th of August 2003. The album was produced, engineered, mixed and
mastered at Backstage Studios in Derbyshire, UK by Andy Sneap (Machine
Head, Testament, Kreator, Nevermore etc.) who already worked on mixing
the band's previous album "Wages Of Sin".
We had a listening session at the 9th of May in the Century Media Germany
hometown Dortmund with Angela Gossow, Michael Amott and media people.
Everybody was blown away by the intense power of the music and the even
more extreme vocals of Angela Gossow. Here is a list of working titles
in no particular running order:
"Rebel" (Intro)
"Silent Wars"
"We Will Rise"
"Dead Eyes See No Future"
"Instinct"
"Leader Of The Rats (Anonymous Animosity)"
"Exist To Exit"
"Acoustic Instrumental"
"Despicable Heroes"
"End Of The Line"
"Dehumanization"
"Anthem (Instrumental)"
"Saints And Sinners"
Stay tuned for more information about the final track list, live activities
and more.
Like mentioned in the headline, the band will play at the Rock Hard
Festival June 8th. For the complete billing feel free to check www.rockhard.de

- Sweden's EVERGREY Performs Cleveland & Atlanta Festivals
To Promote Vibrant 'Recreation Day'!!
Having made a lasting impact with critics and fans alike with their
last release 'In Search Of Truth', Sweden's EVERGREY has unveiled its
latest masterwork upon the world with the elegant 'Recreation Day' for
InsideOut Music America.
Displaying marked growth with each release, EVERGREY has concocted a
musically colorful, yet lyrically bleak, reflection of the world with
'Recreation Day'. Part fantasy & part honest emotion, the album
(once again produced by King Diamond guitarist Andy LaRocque and mixed
by Fredrik Nordström) redefines Swedish Metal with a progressive
flair beyond even Meshuggah's capabilities. Thought provoking and sonically
uncompromising, 'Recreation Day' is yet another exceptional release
for EVERGREY, a band whose multi-textured style incorporates Northern
moroseness, dextrous progressive musicianship, and soulful, heartfelt
balladry. Vocalist/guitarist Tom S. Englund describes the bold content
contained within 'Recreation Day', "The music is representative
of what EVERGREY is about, the diversity we have in most of our songs.
My idea was to make it really beautiful and hard-hitting."
True words indeed, as the power harnessed on the album has compelled
the band to film videos for the sobering "I'm Sorry" and the
vigorous "Blinded" to promote the release.
EVERGREY is also planning to promote the album in America with a number
of live appearances, including the BWBK 6-Pack Weekend Festival at The
Odeon in Cleveland on June 13 & 14 (alongside such legendary acts
as Candlemass, Trouble, and Nevermore), as well as a return to the increasingly
acclaimed Prog Power Festival at Earthlink Live in Atlanta on September
5 & 6 (with Nightwish, Rage, Symphony X, and others). Plans are
also in the works for an extensive fall tour, the band's first-ever
for North America.
Although the content of EVERGREY's albums can be described as melancholic,
their work ethic is anything but, and we will be seeing a lot more of
the band as the year progresses.

- MORBID ANGEL: COMMENCE RECORDING OF NEW ALBUM, DUBBED "H2K3"
MORBID ANGEL have entered D.O.W. (Diet Of Worms) Studios in Seffner,
Florida, to record their next album. In the studio are guitarist Trey
Azagthoth, drummer Pete Sandoval, and bassist/vocalist Steve Tucker,
along with co-producer Juan "Punchy" Gonzalez who has worked
as Morbid Angel's live front-of-house sound engineer for the past eight
years. Tentatively dubbed "H2K3", Morbid Angel's next album
is as-yet-untitled but is rumored to begin with the letter, "H",
in keeping with the alphabetical order of all the band's preceding albums
-- beginning with their 1989 Earache debut, "Altars Of Madness",
and continuing through their last release, 2000's "Gateways To
Annihilation". "H2K3" is slated for a September 2003
worldwide release on Earache Records. One of the earliest American bands
to sign to Earache, Morbid Angel are one of the most influential metal
bands of all time. Since their inception, Morbid Angel have consistently
pushed the boundaries of metal, defining and redefining the genre of
Death Metal. Equally revered for the technicality of their music, the
brutality of their sound, and the creativity of their lyrics, Morbid
Angel are true pioneers whose ever-evolving visions continue to guide
them into new, untouched musical territories. We wait with baited breath
for "H2K3", another landmark album in the making. Earache

- SLAVES ON DOPE Releases Emotionally-Charged Metafour On June 10th
Through Bieler Bros. Records
Montreal's SLAVES ON DOPE… Few names in rock music conjure up
so many images and emotions. What does it mean? What is the message?
The message is the music… and music is something to behold. The
new record is dark and powerful but at the same time it soars, it lifts,
it promises a glimpse of the future while staying firmly rooted in rocks
rich history! On June 10th, SLAVES ON DOPE releases their sophomore
effort; an emotionally supercharged disc entitled Metafour on Bieler
Bros. Records/MCA (distributed by Universal).
Self-described as 'pure rock', the four members that comprise SLAVES
ON DOPE (Kevin, Rob, Frank & Jason) have channeled their surging
rage into this new outing with a laser sharp focus. Bassist Frank Salvaggio
describes the band's evolution as "a non-diluted, emotional form
of heavy rock. Our influences forever have been AC/DC, Led Zeppelin,
Metallica & Stone Temple Pilots, and they are all part of our equation
and what we've become. Metafour is a purging, or a cleansing of demons,
for us. We not only open up a little more on this album, but we see
things a little more clearly. It's a definite maturing."
The highly anticipated follow-up to their debut Inches from the Mainline
was recorded at Bieler Bros. Studios in Boca Raton, FL and produced
by the band and co-produced by Jason Slater (Snake River Conspiracy,
Good Charlotte, Earshot) and Troy Van Leeuwan (Queens Of The Stone Age
and A Perfect Circle). Bieler Bros. is planning an onslaught of promotional
activity building towards the June 10th release date. Having already
toured much of the US with Nonpoint & labelmates Skindred, SLAVES
ON DOPE is planning a Midwestern romp with Ra! The current itinerary
includes:

Metafour's first single, "Go", is already receiving huge support
from many stations, including WJBX (Ft. Myers, FL), WRIF (Detroit, MI),
WCCC (Hartford, CT), WJJO (Madison, WI), KUPD (Phoenix, AZ), WQLZ (Springfield,
IL), WHMH (St. Cloud, MN), KHRO (El Paso, TX), and WCLG (Morganton ,

potency to preserve the loyalty of their core fan base.

- AXIS OF ADVANCE: The front lines are a blackened, smoldering bloody
wreck. However, discipline and order are holding and the command remains
functional. We are aggressively pursuing leads and focusing on touring
in the old world and our homeland. When the details are settled and
the go-ahead is given - we'll be gone. Until then, other matters are
pressing. New material is starting to flow like the "Styx of Hades.
" Its filthy black tar smoulders; polluting all it encounters by
a fume poisoned with the black fires of abhorrence. Choke on it soon!
- ZYKLON will play a special one-off show at London’s Camden Underworld

second album, Aeon (CDL27), will be released in the US on September
9. Track listing includes: Psyklon Aeon, Core Solution, Two Thousand

Candlelight in late 2002 after receiving interest from several other
labels. Album track listing includes: Primal Aggression, Outlined In

on its initial 2001 European release. This will be the band’s
first album with proper US distribution. Formed in 1994, WITHERING SURFACE
recorded their debut, Scarlet Silhouettes in 1996. The album featured
a guest appearance from In Flames guitarist Jesper Stromblad. The band
entered Studio Fredman in 1998 for their second album, The Nude Ballet
with the production help of Fredrik Nordstrom and In Flames vocalist
Anders Friden. The album was nominated in 1999 for a Dutch Grammy. The
year’s additional highlight included a performance at the renowned
Roskilde Festival. The band signed with England’s Copro Records
in 2001 and recorded Walking on Phantom Ice. Following its release,
the band toured Denmark with Iniquity and in 2002 would tour England
in support of Opeth and Arch Enemy. The year’s highly included
a performance at Germany’s Wacken Open Air Festival (www.witheringsurface.dk).
- Former EUROPE drummer Ian Haugland has teamed up with several of his
DJ colleagues at Sweden's biggest classic rock station "106.7 Rockklassiker"
to release the single "Rock 'n' Roll Allright" under the band
name TEN 67. The track, which features Haugland on lead vocals for the
first time ever, marks the first project for new label and studio Canvas,
formed by former KISS Army Sweden president Johan Kihlberg and LION'S
SHARE guitarist Lars Chriss, who also produced and mixed the song. "Rock
'n' Roll Allright" is already on the A-rotation list on 106.7 Rockklassiker
and the band will soon do some live shows to promote it. Look for TEN
67 to appear at this year's Sweden Rock Festival alongside such acts

- German Thrash Metal Pioneers KREATOR Release First-Ever Live Album
& DVD
'Live Kreation' & 'Live Kreation - Revisioned Glory' Due on July
22nd Through SPV
After nearly 20 years and over 1000 concert performances, German thrash
metal pioneers KREATOR are prepared to unleash their first ever live
album and accompanying DVD to the masses via SPV Records on July 22nd!
The band experienced a vast resurgence in North American interest last
year on their highly successful 'Violent Revolution' tour, and these
upcoming collections are the band's way of giving something back to
the fans for their diehard commitment to the Teutonic Thrash legacy.
The CD, 'Live Kreation', collects 24 tracks of KREATOR's inimitable,
blue-collared 'extreme aggression', recorded around the world and produced
by renowned knob-smith Andy Sneap (Machine Head, Arch Enemy, Fozzy,
Skinlab, etc.). Says KREATOR founder, vocalist/guitarist Mille Petrozza
on the milestone, "Over the years, a lot of our fans kept asking
us for a live record. We loved the idea and started working on it in
the beginning of our 'World Revolution' tour. Modern technology allowed
us to record 22 shows in total, so at the end of the day, we had tons
of stuff to choose from. Capturing good performances from shows in Brazil,
Korea, France, Germany and Greece, we've spent a long time picking the
right atmosphere of each individual track, kept them all raw and direct,
to make this first live album in the history of Kreator a special experience
for us and our fans. Andy Sneap did a killer job mixing this 24-track
monster, including songs from every album we've recorded."
The historic 2-CD, 100+ minute full-contact extravaganza includes the
following tracks:
Disc 1
The Patriarch
Violent Revolution
Reconquering The Throne
Extreme Aggression
People Of The Lie
All Of The Same Blood
Phobia
Pleasure To Kill
Renewal
Servant In Heaven - King In Hell
Black Sunrise
Terrible Certainty
Riot Of Violence
Disc 2
Lost
Coma Of Souls
Second Awakening
Terrorzone
Betrayer
Leave This World Behind
Under The Guillotine
Awakening The Gods
Golden Age
Flag Of Hate
Tormentor
The DVD companion, 'Live Kreation - Revisioned Glory', not only includes
17 of the aforementioned 24 tracks mixed in 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround
Sound, but also contains a complete 55-minute year-by-year video history
of Kreator, including all of the band's video clips & new documentary-style
interviews with Mille, additional live footage, behind-the-scenes footage
and many other bonus features. Mille comments on this colossal endeavor,
"Putting together the material for the DVD was hard work, a little
tricky, but in the end a lot of fun! One thing was clear to me from
the beginning: no compromise on ANYTHING to make this output the ultimate
in quality!! I did not know many music DVDs before I started working
on ours, so I checked other bands' releases. I was very disappointed
by the fact that some artists just put out shitty hand-camera footage
and sell it to their audiences as live videos. Luckily, our record company
was aware of that problem, and so we hired two professional camera teams
to film our shows in Korea and Brazil. Other than that, I personally
started shooting all kinds of behind-the-scenes material on tour. To
make it all complete, we put together a history documentary, going way
back in time, including all official Kreator video clips shot so far,
plus previously unreleased interview footage, TV appearances and other
rare stuff. So now, after almost half a year in several cutting rooms,
mixing studios, in my living room looking through old video tapes, I
can promise you, you will definitely enjoy this f**ker!"
The massive DVD tracklisting includes:

- PROGPOWER USA IV OFFICIALLY SOLD OUT
ATLANTA – ProgPower USA IV, North America’s premiere festival
for progressive and power metal music, has officially sold out more
than three months in advance.
The festival will return to Atlanta’s Earthlink Live, the venue
that housed last fall’s sold-out event, on Friday, September 5
and Saturday, September 6.
"I don't think anyone can doubt that ProgPower USA has taken the
step to the next level with another sell-out this year,“ said
promoter Glenn Harveston. “The fans have shown what kind of product
they want, and I'm more than willing to deliver it to them each and
every year."
Finland’s Nightwish and Germany’s Rage will headline ProgPower
IV with exclusive appearances. The festival will feature several first-time
appearances from overseas artists such as Germany’s Vanden Plas,
Italy’s Secret Sphere, Denmark’s Mercenary, and Norway’s
Pagan’s Mind, as well as hosting a return appearance by Sweden’s
Evergrey and American acts Symphony X, Circle II Circle, and Redemption.
Fates Warning and Engine vocalist Ray Alder will make a special guest
appearance, performing with Redemption.
ProgPower USA is sponsored by Pacific Drums, Sabian Cymbals, Evans Drumheads,
Shure Microphones, Ultimate Support Systems, Sensory Records, and Metal
Ages Media.
ProgPower USA, an international affiliate of the Netherlands’
ProgPower Europe, was created to attract the top names in both the progressive
and power metal genres. The first event was held at a small bar in Lansing,
Ill., in February 2001 and featured the first U.S. appearance of Pain
of Salvation. The 350-capacity show sold out three months in advance.
Due to popular demand, a second event was held in November 2001 and
featured the most unique progressive and power metal roster in the States
to date (Symphony X, Kamelot, ARK, Evergrey, Angel Dust, Spiral Architect,
plus others). The attendance increased in size to 750 with a crowd coming
from 38 states and 15 countries. Last year’s ProgPower III featured
the first American performances by Blind Guardian, Gamma Ray, Angra,
Threshold, as well as Edguy, Pain of Salvation, Devin Townsend, Silent
Force, Zero Hour, and Reading Zero. Tickets were sold to 1,300 fans
worldwide.

- SPOCK'S BEARD Releases New Studio Album
'FEEL EUPHORIA' On July 8, 2003 Through INSIDEOUT MUSIC AMERICA
First Album To Feature Drummer NICK D'VIRGILIO As Lead VocalistChange
can be a good thing, and it is for the highly regarded rock band Spock's
Beard. The new studio album 'Feel Euphoria,' scheduled for release on
InsideOut Music America on July 8, 2003, is the first to feature drummer
Nick D'Virgilio as lead vocalist.
D'Virgilio, guitarist/cellist Alan Morse, keyboardist Ryo Okumoto and
bass guitarist Dave Meros decided to soldier on after the departure
of vocalist/keyboardist/guitarist Neal Morse in 2002.
"I think people will be pleasantly surprised by this album,"
says D'Virgilio.
Pressure combined with the excitement of the unknown weighed on Spock's
Beard, but once work began on 'Feel Euphoria' the band members felt
more and more at ease and their confidence swelled when they realized
they had written and recorded a strong album.
"After the initial shock of Neal leaving, I got over being mad
rather quickly and we looked at it as an opportunity. We're used to
making records, but this one definitely had a different vibe. We all
brought in demos and then worked on this music together," D'Virgilio
says. "I wanted to make sure we sounded cohesive because Neal had
a certain style to his songwriting."
The diversity of 'Feel Euphoria' is demonstrated with heavy rock, shimmering
melodic pop and experimental, progressive-oriented elements. The songs
include: "Onomatopoeia," "The Bottom Line," "Feel
Euphoria," "Shining Star," "East of Eden, West of
Memphis," "Ghosts of Autumn," "A Guy Named Sid:
Part 1 - Intro, Part II - Same Old Story, Part III - You Don't Know,
Part IV - Judge, Part V - Sid's Boys Choir, Part VI - Change" and
"Carry On."
"My demos were pretty elaborate. I wanted to make sure the guys
could see I could do this and step us a songwriter and lead singer.
The first demo I did was 'A Guy Named Sid,' just to see if I could do
something that challenging. Neal was really good at that kind of songwriting,"
says D'Virgilio. "Everybody did great songwriting and playing on
this album. Alan's stuff is amazing, Ryo brought in the fantastic title
tune and Dave's work is excellent."
Spock's Beard collectively produced 'Feel Euphoria,' whereas Neal Morse
produced previous albums. This was just another obstacle the band conquered.
D'Virgilio praised engineer/mixer Richard Mouser, who essentially functioned
as a co-producer as well.
As Spock's Beard's new frontman, D'Virgilio realized the importance
of his lead vocals.
"As far as singing, I knew I wanted to be a real rock singer with
a strong, commanding voice. I didn't want to sing lead with a high-sounding
voice, which is what you often do for harmony vocals," he explains.
When Spock's Beard tours to promote 'Feel Euphoria' D'Virgilio will
literally be out front as a lead vocalist, rhythm guitarist and acoustic
guitarist, but he will also play drums live on many songs, especially
instrumentals. A touring drummer will be utilized as well.

- ASTERIUS CONFIRMS ALEX KRULL (ATROCITY) FOR MASTERING
German brightest Star ASTERIUS has confirmed Alex Krull, lead singer
of the mighty Atrocity, has the Hand that will make the sound of “A
Moment of Singularity” shine. Shortly the band will finish the
recordings at Subzero Studio (check their website which will be refreshed
very soon, www.subzero-rec.de ), we heard some advance of the recordings
and Studio Master Ecki is really doing an excellent job, giving to ASTERIUS
the more appropriate tools to express their creativity.
The band will also soon take part of a photo session under the guidance
of Jens Howorka, author of some beautiful Orkus’ covers (HIM,
LONDON AFTER MINDINGHT, IN STRICT CONFIDENCE etc.).
Please note that the band has registered the domain www.asterius.net
which will soon be their new official, redesigned home page.
- Argentinean Power Metallers JEZABEL have almost finished the recordings
of their album entitled “Legiones Del Sur”. There is the
need of a couple of days more for the mixing and then the Master will
be sent to New Sin Studio for its mastering. We strongly hope to respect
release-date (end of July) understanding that we have in our hands one
of the most promising bands of the Southern American continent. Wishing
the best luck to the band for their show supporting HAMMERFALL, we’d
like also to confirm that the JEZABEL cd will be released in a special
local edition for Argentina and South America. The band took also part
to the shooting of a video-clip (the song chosen was “Un paso
más) which we have not yet decided if it would be a special gift
for South American fans only, or if it will be included also in our
“world” edition.
- EPHEL DUATH released "The Painter's Palette" last Monday
the 19th May (it's out on the 17th June in North America) and so far
the response has been amazing! So far we have 9/10 in Grind Zone, 95/100
on www.hmportal.it
, KKKKK in Kerrang (two page feature on the band coming soon) and many
more. I don't want to jinx it, but we haven't seen a negative comment
about this album so far. And rightly so...
A video clip of the song "The Passage" can be downloaded in
Real Video format from our friends at www.ultimatemetal.com.
Visit the site and follow the link on the front page. An MP3 of the
track is available at the Elitist website.
The band have also just re-opened their website, with a stunning piece
of design work from Peppe at Temn0.un.Art. Visit it at www.ephelduath.net
and be sure to sign the guest book.
- WOLVERINE have run into a few problems with the re-mixing of their
debut album for Elitist, "Cold Light Of Monday". The band
took the master tapes to the renowned Space Lab studios in Germany only
to find that the original recordings were too badly engineered to be
able to fix in a way the band would like.
The band have taken the decision to re-record everything besides the
drums and keyboards back at Space Lab in July, meaning we will have
to push the expected release date for this album to later in 2003. Judging
from the quality of the actual songs we have heard so far, this will
be well worth the wait!
- Juliette (female vocals) and Roomy (guitar) have parted company with
WITHOUT FACE and have returned to their native Hungary. The band is
keen to continue and is looking for suitable replacements.
The band are based in Nottingham, England, and are looking for a skilled,
experienced guitarist and a quality female vocalist who would be able
to withstand recording and touring commitments.

- Statement from NOTHINGFACE frontman Matt Holt regarding the cancelled
tour dates...
To all our fans,
Unfortunately we have been forced to cancel the last eight dates of
our tour. I apologize to the people that will not be able to see us
perform and ask for your forgiveness. With the exception of the first
three shows, my throat has been fucked up the entire tour. I played
as long as I could, and tried not to cancel shows. Most of the fans
that came saw a very sick singer. I couldn't even scream and you were
all very patient and kind. My opinion of people in general has always
been pretty low, but you guys have proved that there are a still lot
of great people left in this shit stain called America. I love performing
more than anything in the world and when I can't do my job it just rips
my heart out. All I want to do is get out on stage and fucking throw
down. I feel a strong responsibility to our fans and disappointing you
fucking sucks. Without you we have no reason to play. You have been
with us for eight years and four records, and we couldn't have made
it past the first without your support. I never would have cancelled
a single show, unless it was a must. I am consulting my doctor and will
fix my throat problems. Fact is I damaged my voice because I pushed
myself too hard. I kept singing through the pain and now I am paying
the price. I didn't want to let the band or our fans down. We are not
canceling our dates in Europe or Ozzfest, and will see you there. Thank
you for your patience and please come to our next show.
I love you all,
Matt Holt
- MULLETS ROCK! To Feature 35 Hair-Raising, Hell-Raising Tracks On Two
CDs!!!
EPIC/LEGACY Releases Classics-Loaded Set With Songs From Heavy Hitters,
Such As LYNYRD SKYNYRD, BOSTON, DEEP PURPLE, JUDAS PRIEST, MOLLY HATCHET
& ALICE COOPER
Mullets are the new targets of hairstyle critics, replacing the much
loathed moussed bouffants of "hair metal" bands. Mullets --
short in front and long in the back -- are favored among hard-rocking,
hard-working, hard-partying blue collar American males, and the two-CD
set Mullets Rock! is the music of their lives. And if you mock their
lifestyle and their tunes, well, you're in for an ass-kicking!
Mullets Rock! is jam-packed with classic rock favorites from the 1970s
and 1980s, and it's arguably the best damn collection to listen to while
driving ever released! Roll down the windows of your pickup truck, crank
up the jams and shout along to these hits while the wind whips your
mullet! It also makes a killer soundtrack to one hell of a tailgate
party or barbecue. Mullets Rock! ain't music for wimps.
The track listing for Mullets Rock! reads like a dream playlist from
a divinely inspired classic rock radio station (without all the annoying
commercials):

'Visions Of The Beast' is every metal fan's dream, and serves as a timely
reminder of just how important Iron Maiden are in the history of rock
music. It is also the most concise and entertaining collection of their
defining moments ever released - and a damn fine way to get psyched
for their incredible new album, due in the Fall.
The DVD is being released in conjunction with their upcoming globe-trotting
marathon - the 'Give Me 'Ed... Til I'm Dead' World Tour. Of the trek,
lead singer Bruce Dickinson states, "This tour is all about having
fun as the name suggests. We love summer and we love playing big shows.
We are going to be playing a lot of our favorite Maiden songs and many
people know we've got a new album in the pipeline for later this year
so perhaps we'll be playing a new song or two, but basically it will
be full on Maiden! The band is firing on all cylinders and the show
will be as spectacular as always."

- JAMES MURPHY: Health News, Disincarnate, Death Tribute, Napalm Death,
Immortal, Kiss, Angra
From James Murphy: "I just want to let everyone know that I received
some really great news last week from my Ophthalmologist. Since my surgery
my vision has been steadily improving and late last week my doctor officially
pronounced my vision as "legal to drive" again. This is a
very big announcement because when I first saw this same eye doctor
over a year ago he told me that I would not see much improvement in
my vision, and would never be able to drive again.
Needless to say we are all very happy, including my doctor who couldn't
wipe the smile off of his face.... apparently it is very rare for the
optic nerve to recover so well from serious damage of the type which
mine was believed to have sustained from the tumor's pressure. I no
longer have 20/20 vision.... but there has been a big improvement!
Anyway, I won't be running the roads anytime soon since I will now have
to take care of old citations; $1100 worth from when I was driving with
the effects of the tumor in full swing while still living in Oakland,
CA back in 1999 and 2000. Yes, I could barely see, and my memory was
not working very well, but I was driving around endangering myself and
others thanks to the tumor. Needless to say OPD and SFPD didn't take
kindly to my erratic swerving around the Bay Area roads and highways.
I don't remember much about all of it, but the citations are on the
records, and must be dealt with before I will be able to secure a Florida
Driver's License.
After I find some way to handle those fines I will then be faced with
figuring out how to save for a car, but those issues aside, I am very
happy and excited to know that I will be able to drive again!
Musically speaking, I am in the process of a collaboration with Deron
Miller of CKY, Brett Hoffman (ex-Malevolent Creation), and Dave Culross
(ex- Malevolent Creation, Suffocation) which will take the form of a
Death tribute album. This project was Deron's idea that he came up with
as a way to help me with my medical expenses. The Schuldiner family
has kindly given their blessings to this project and for that i am eternally
grateful.
We plan to have quite a few other preeminent guests from bands you may
well know and love (not telling yet...). We have chosen the core band
for the tribute and selected the tracks (so please don't bomb me with
lists of requests! LOL!!) and now we are seeking a label. Anyone living
in the S.F. Bay Area should be sure to check out Deron's band CKY as
they open the show for Metallica on May 18th at the Fillmore auditorium!!
I want to touch on the subject of Disincarnate briefly. I am still writing
material, though at a slow-ish pace. I have had so many other things
going on that I don't want to force the writing during whatever free
time I could squeeze together and end up robbing myself, Nuclear Blast,
and all of you who have been so patiently waiting, of the quality we
are all expecting from a new Disincarnate album. So, I am focusing on
the Death Tribute to guarantee that it will be great, and a few small
production jobs which I must do to pull my weight in helping make ends
meet and keep me in the producing game. This way I will have the time
to focus fully on the new Disincarnate CD with few distractions. I want
to make sure that it has the best chance possible to come out with the
brutal, crushing songs and sound that I am envisioning for it.
I am writing new Disincarnate riffs nearly every time I pick up my guitar,
so as soon as I complete this other work I will have a big head start.
Just to tie over those of you who are anxiously awaiting the new Disincarnate
CD, and who have been searching long and hard for copies of the first
album, RoadRunner Records Japan has recently re-released Dreams Of The
Carrion Kind, and it has been re-mastered!! The new mastering gives
the disc a great deal more power and clarity than the original release
had. And, coming up, RoadRunner U.S. will also re-release Dreams...
with the new mastering and extra liner notes.... and, if possible, the
original demo tracks that got us signed to the label back in 1992!!
Finally, please check out the auction links below. There are once again
some cool items up for grabs from my good friend Doug Harper, who holds
these auctions to help me with my bills and expenses. This time the
list includes one of those cool Japanese Dreams of the Carrion Kind
re-issues I mentioned earlier.
Thanks for your time, and if you can squeeze an extra minute, revisit
my website and check out the new graphic design that is in progress
(thanks to my hardworking webmaster, Ms. Anthrope), and sign the guest
book, or participate in a thread on my Official Forum courtesy of Ultimate
Metal."

- CATTLE DECAPITATION parts ways with drummer
“CATTLE DECAPITATION have parted ways"with drummer David
Astor due to inability to live up to the obligations of touring and
regular necessities of the band... so we ate him. He has been replaced

IS CRUCIFIXION. The band is currently writing vigorously and rehearsing
the old songs as well as new ones for the upcoming onslaught of tours
that are already in the works. Expect to see us VERY SOON.”
Cattle Decapitation will be entering the studio near the end of the

- BEHEMOTH, the Polish metal titans recently took part in The Metal
Gods and Blackest of the Black, two of the biggest metal festival tours
of the year. Their new album Zos Kia Cultus (Here and Beyond) continues
to receive rave reviews and we hope to bring this killing machine back
to the U.S. very soon. Nergal (vocalist/guitarist) recently checked
in with the following report. "We're back. Again...it was rush
! We've never had such intense touring at any point of our career. It
seems that our American agent (cheerz Tomas) and Century Media did their
best to put us on these prestigious shows that would give the us the
most exposure. Blackest of the Black was a great experience and we will
never forget it. Playing the biggest venues in U.S., with some of the
BEST bands ever was totally awesome...! There is no secret that DANZIG
and NILE are two of my favorite bands, so all I have to say, is I'm
happy. We've struggled for years to play shows like that...and we gave
our fuckin best to show everyone BEHEMOTH's true potential. Needless
to say, the idea behind Blackest of the Black was simply ingenious.
Gratitude should be sent to Mr. Glenn Danzig and his manager for putting
up together such a splendid bill ! Hopefully we will be back soon...maybe
this fall. There are still lots of places we have to go and hearts to
be conquered. I'd like to thank to all the people involved in these
shows in anyway, and especially fans who came down to the shows early
enough to see us and support the band." YOU ARE THE ONES !!!

- After the gradual decline of the once prolific Florida death metal
scene, a few local bands remained standing keeping the underground alive.
DIVINE EMPIRE are one of those groups that has been around that scene
for years and have never strayed away from their patent death metal
assault. Featuring members of the legendary Malevolent Creation the
group's third release, Nostradamus, takes the intensity level up a notch.
Blending a barrage of pulverizing blasts and double bass insanity with
fast grinding guitars, it will leave you foaming at the mouth with excitement.
This is the release that extreme metal fans have been waiting for since
the demise of Obituary years ago. On June 3rd the Empire strikes back
with a record that will have their peers cowering in fear. You do not
want to miss out on this one.
- The response to the new VITAL REMAINS album, Dechristianize, has been
nothing short of phenomenal. This is the most unrelenting extreme metal
release of the year and it is the overwhelming guitar melodies that
take this album to the next level, in addition the vocal assault delivered
by Glen Benton (Deicide). The group are currently in negotiations for
a full scale U.S. tour and soon no one shall be safe from their unholy
wrath. The press raves continue to pour in and you do not want to miss
out on the release that is already on most people's 2003 top ten lists.
- For many years New York has produced some of metal's most genre-defining
bands and it is showing no signs of slowing down. There is a new force
emerging out of Rochester, New York that abides by no rules and have
developed into a brand of intensity that will leave anyone in awe. This
force is known as WITHERED EARTH, and their sonic assault will have
you paralyzed in fear. This is how extreme music should be defined:
original, aggressive and with utter disregard for conventionality. Take
all preconceived notions regarding American death metal and throw them
out the window.
They just completed the writing process for Of Which They Bleed, their
third full-length release, in late 2002. The record was produced by
Bill Korecky (Mushroomhead, Incantation) at Mars Studio and also features
cover art from Derek Hess (Converge, Unearth, Agoraphobic Nosebleed).
This 12-track burst of aggression is a drastic musical progression that
will surely get this band mentioned along with death metal's elite.
Possessing lyrics that deal with the true horror of real life, Withered
Earth strive to create music that is unique and thought-provoking while
incorporating a myriad of influences ranging from Morbid Angel and Venom
to Dillinger Escape Plan and Meshuggah. Punishing blast beats, which
at times are more common to grind or hardcore, combine with dark and
heavy guitar riffs to evolve into an atmospheric assault that keeps
the listener always guessing what exactly will hit them next. The bleeding
will begin on July 15th so be prepared.
- The new ACHERON album "REBIRTH: Metamorphosing into Godhood"
has begun. The drum tracks have been completed and the rest of the album
will be recorded on June 6th, 2003. The band has decided to get rid
of all keyboards on the new album. Crowley states "We are going
to evolve, while staying true to our roots. We have always had problems
dealing with keyboardists in the past , so we said "Fuck it"
and took them out of the mix. We are now a three piece unit. This album
will be very guitar driven." The band will be releasing this album
in europe on BLACK LOTUS RECORDS. The band will soon be looking for
labels in the USA, South America and other countries for possible releases.
- Although the original lineup of QUEENSRYCHE is working together to
create the next studio release, guitarist Chris DeGarmo has bowed out
of both the European and US tours.

- CENTURY MEDIA RECORDS SIGN LABYRINTH TO WORLDWIDE DEAL
Italy's melodic metal powerhouse LABYRINTH has signed a worldwide multi-album
deal with Century Media Records and will release their fourth full length
simply titled, Labyrinth.
The band stormed onto the international metal scene in 1994 with the
release of the Piece Of Time EP followed by their full-length debut
No Limits, on Italy’s Underground Symphony label. Both of which
featured future Rhapsody vocalist Fabio Lione, a.k.a. Joe Terry. After
a short-lived relationship with Lione, the band enlisted the vocal talents
of Roberto Tiranti a.k.a. Rob Tyrant, who added a new dimension to their
sound.
With the line-up solidified, LABYRINTH soon gained international recognition
after landing a worldwide deal with Metal Blade Records. The release
of the landmark Return To Heaven Denied garnered rousing critical acclaim
on virtually every continent. The follow-up Timeless Crime EP and their
latest album Sons Of Thunder, continued to build a solid foundation.
Appearances on tours with such highly regarded acts as Hammerfall, Primal
Fear, Helloween, Iron Savior, Nocturnal Rites and major metal festivals
like Gods Of Metal, Dynamo, Wacken, Bang Your Head have made the legend
LABYRINTH ripple through the metal kingdom.
After signing with Century Media Records in early 2003, a new path is
once again being forged for LABYRINTH’s glorious return. Their
phenomenal new album features artwork from the renowned Travis Smith
(Nevermore, Opeth, Jag Panzer, etc.) and was recorded at Noise Factory
Studio in Milano, Italy. Labyrinth offers 10 flawlessly executed tracks
of aggressively melodic metal in its purest form. www.labyrinthmusic.it
- ORIGINAL MEMBERS OF ELECTRIC WIZARD LEAVE TO FORM NEW BAND
DORSET, ENGLAND, UK - After 10 years under the curse of the Wizard,
original band members Mark Greening (drums & piano) and Tim Bagshaw
(bass) quit the Crown Jewel of British Doom - Electric Wizard to concentrate
on their new project, which they have baptised Ramesses. Exhausted,
the duo laid down primitive recordings of low frequency riffs and visionary
ideas. The big change now is that Tim is assuming command of a few more
strings, seven in fact, playing lead guitar.
All they needed now was a bass and vokills. Although both Mark and Tim
tried a few chosen ones', they unearthed Adam Richardson Å] another
local
doom-meister who was hitting 4 strings for another local band called
Spirmyard.
RAMESSES, with the line-up completed, have been rehearsing and some
10 songs
are being forged as you read this. A demo recording is scheduled this
summer and they plan to shop their material in due course. Be warned:
RAMESSES will deliver some really psychedelic space blues doom sounds
with massive volume, in its own heavy way. Mark adds: "We want
to put out the tracks we are working on really soon Å] we are
open to offers! A few 7 inches would be cool. Eventually we would like
to deal with a label that will enable us to get our cold evil doom/black/death
punishing sounds over to as many of you as possible. It's great to have
the freedom to sound like Queens of the Stone Age or Sleep one minute
and Burning Witch the next. But with our track record youcan expect
some fucked up organic thick atmospheric heavy futuristic drone sounds."

their forthcoming, as-yet-untitled Earache debut. According to Deicide
drummer Steve Asheim, the new material will be "the heaviest, fastest
shit Deicide has ever released. Fans should have a box of Depends ready
'cause they'll all be shitting all over themselves when they hear it."
Deicide plans to hit the studio mid-summer.
- EPHEL DUATH'S "THE PAINTER'S PALETTE" TAKES METAL INTO THE
NEXT STRATOSPHERE
Italian virtuosos Ephel Duath have completed the recording of their
new album, "The Painter's Palette". In a cynical age where
musical stagnation is king, with the bland leading the bland, a band
like Ephel Duath shines like a beacon from the mire. Mainman Davide
Tiso has assembled an astonishingly diverse set of musicians in order
to add flesh to the bones of his vision. Taking a giant stride away
from the band's black metal influences of old, Ephel Duath are now charting
unexplored territories within the metal genre. A heady mix of jazz fusion,
hardcore and progressive metal, The Painter's Palette delves into the
jazz-terrorism of John Zorn, the technical outburts of Dillinger Escape
Plan, the earnest hardcore wailing of Refused, and the rock mysticism
of Tool, combining these influences into a radically new sonic vision.
"The Painter's Palette" is set for release in June.

Disc Two features a massive collection of bonus tracks, demos, live
recordings, and other rare and unreleased material from throughout the
band's career. Highlights include a live cover of Godflesh's "Avalanche
Master Song"; two unreleased mixes of tracks from "Fear, Emptiness...Despair";
rare tracks from the "Pathological" and "North Atlantic
Noise Attack" comps; and three live tracks dating back to the mid-80's,
handpicked by Napalm Death bassist Shane Embury from his own personal
collection -- one having been recorded on a hand-held recorder by Embury
himself in '86 before he was in the band!
Each disc clocks in at over 75 minutes of music. Also look for exclusive
interviews from both Embury and Napalm Death vocal assassin Mark "Barney"
Greenaway in the liner notes. Fully endorsed by the band, "Noise
For Music's Sake" will stand as the definitive Napalm Death bible
for years to come.

but we thought it better to concentrate on their home country these
months where the band probably will do a short tour this summer. Than

Substitude", sheduled to be released October 2003.

Walker will helm for the album, Sevendust has twenty demos prepared
thus far.
Walker, who fronted the band Marvelous 3 and released his solo debut

THE HEAVIEST SHOW EVER!
SAINT VITUS REUNION SHOW
The Chicago Music Factory is proud to announce a music event that is
not to be missed. On Tuesday, July 1st the Double Door in Chicago will

Dave Chandler had this to say about the reason behind the reunion and
why Chicago as the location? “After we (Debris Inc.) performed
'Born Too Late' at Wacken Open Air in Germany last summer I saw that
people still care about my music, I wanted my old band mates to see
the reaction of people today to our music. We are going to play the
With Full Force Festival in Germany and thought we should do a club
show to warm up. We picked Chicago because it has always been one of
the best cities we ever played in.”
This does no mark a fulltime reunion of Saint Vitus as Chandler wants
to concentrate on his new band Debris Inc. with also features Ron Holzner
of Trouble fame and a host of other well known names as special guests.
Their happydrunkenstonerdoompunk sound will also grace the stage on
July 1st where you can expect a very unique set with some very special
guests sitting in on their set to jam.
Direct support to Saint Vitus will be Chicago’s very own Macabre
who have recently finished up the recording of their forthcoming Murder
Metal release scheduled for release September 23rd worldwide. Macabre
are also planning to perform a special set for this special occasion.
If that wasn’t enough heavy music in one night, opening the show
will be Eyehategod direct from New Orleans, LA .Eyehategod features
Jimmy Bower from Down and Superjoint Ritual and the ultimate band to
kick off the festivities.
Eyehategod haven't played out live in a long time, but being that they
are huge Vitus fans they wanted to be a part of this special event and
so did the Chicago Music Factory.
The Chicago Music Factory is the new merchandising and promotions company
of Rodney Pawlak (Mind Melt Media) and Kevin Sharp (Brutal Truth) and
this show will kick off what will be a series of special events in the

- A message from Disillusion:
Hello everyone,
After quite some time there finally news to be spread about Disillusion:
we have signed to Metal Blade Records! Already our first full-length
album will be released worldwide through Metal Blade under license from
Voice Of Life Records - all following cds then via Metal Blade!
Metal Blade and we have been in contact for some time, making sure everything
was set to go the right way from the start. By now we are very sure
about having made the right decision, although neither of us in the
band seems to be able to grasp the incredible speed by which things
change and the band grows. We need not say that we feel very glad about
signing to Metal Blade and we all wish for a prosperous time together.
We also want to thank Frank at Voice Of Life at this point for great
work he did for us!
Second news: Disillusion t-shirts in the design of our Three Neuron
Kings cd are now available at our website www.disillusion.de
or at www.voiceoflife.de.
Be sure to order your piece!
Ok, that’s it for this time,
We will be back in a couple of weeks with news around the upcoming album
…
Disillusion.
- DEFECATION - The legendary extreme metal act founded by Napalm Death/ex-Righteous
Pigs guitarist Mitch Harris and his brother, ex-Napalm Death/Scorn drummer
Mick Harris (who is no longer in the band), have released the comeback
effort Intention Surpassed. This time around Mitch handles all the work,
but what it lacks in members it’s makes up for in shear force
and brutality.
- DESTRUCTION - Veteran German thrashers Destruction have set the tentative
track listing for their new album, Metal Discharge, due out in late
2003. New drummer Marc Reign, who replaced the departed Sven Vormann
joined longstanding members Mike and Schmier in Little Creek Studio
in Switzerland earlier this month to do final production on the new
album.
www.destruction.de
- DIMMU BORGIR - Have spent the past few weeks at Studio Fredman in
Gothenburg, Sweden recording their forthcoming CD, due later in the
year. www.dimmu-borgir.com
- GRAVEWORM - Italian black metalers Graveworm gear up for the release
of their fourth disc, Engraved In Black. This will be their first release
for Nuclear Blast and their first domestic release for North America.
Engraved In Black was produced and mixed earlier this year at Stage
One Studios with Andy Classen (Krisiun, Rotting Christ, Asphyx). Expect
a unique mixture of old Satyricon, Dimmu Borgir and Cradle Of Filth.
An album somewhere between black, death and gothic metal, the band describes
as simply “dark metal.” Coming this summer. www.graveworm.de
- HELLOWEEN - “The rabbit don’t come easy” but the
music sure did! Helloween bring back what we loved about them all those
years ago. Although the band have many new members you wouldn’t
know it by listening to the disc. Rabbit Don’t Come Easy was produced
by Charlie Bauerfeind (Blind Guardian, Angra) and recorded at the Mi
Sueno Studios (HammerFall, Blind Guardian), the studio owned by vocalist
Andi Deris in Tenerife, Spain. Helloween have always been one step ahead
by being extremely versatile in their songwriting and with Charlie’s
energy and experience guiding them along, Helloween have created a landmark
disc. Rabbit Don’t Come Easy hits shelves on May 20th. www.helloween.org
- IN FLAMES - Sweden’s favorite sons offer up a new release for
their fans. On June 17th Nuclear Blast will release the Trigger EP.
This special release will contain one new track entitled “Watch
Them Feed,” a cover version of the Genesis song “Land of
Confusion,” as well as remixes of existing songs. The disc also
includes the “Cloud Connected” video and the just finished
video for “Trigger.” In other news, they’re already
coming back! In Flames are set to return this summer to headline a tour
across North America. This outing will see support by Nuclear Blast’s
own Soilwork, Roadrunner’s Chimaira and Death By Stereo on Epitaph.
The tour launches on June 27th in Montreal, Canada. www.inflames.com
- KATAKLYSM - Kataklysm would also like to thank J-F Richard (Ion Dissonance)
for doing a great job on the band’s North American tour with Hate
Eternal and Dying Fetus this spring filling in for the departed Max
Duhamel. The band have now found a permanent drummer in Martin Maurais
and the band promises he will not disappoint. ::According to Maurizio
Iacono, “We just finished jamming with Martin and all we can say
is “::Holy shit... human machine??... Fuck yeah!” Martin
will be introducing his own version of the Northern Hyperblast to the
masses on the next album. “Fans of Nick Miller (Temple of Knowledge)
and Max Duhamel - watch out!” comments Maurizio. Kataklysm continues
to write their next album Serenity in Fire due out in early 2004. In
other news, Kataklysm will support The Haunted (Earache) and Shai Hulud
(Revelation) on a full North American tour in May and June. Victory’s
Darkest Hour and Trustkill’s Bleeding Through will divide the
opening slot for what will easily be the most brutal tour this year.
The tour sets out on May 11th in Detroit, Michigan.
www.kataklysm.net
- MESHUGGAH - The band returned to the states on Friday to launch their
full US tour with Strapping Young Lad. No strangers to this side of
the ocean after highly successful tours with Slayer and Tool, as well
as the months spent tearing up the second stage at 2002’s Ozzfest,
(including off dates with System of a Down and Mushroomhead) the crusade
continues with Meshuggah now in the leading slot. ::The amazing and
insane Devin Townsend and his Strapping Young Lads do the opening duties
on what might be the tour of the year.
www.meshuggah.net
- M.O.D. - The Rebel You Love to Hate, the name says it all, and the
new work from Billy Milano’::s M.O.D. (Method Of Destruction)
is not for the weak. The disc, recorded at Big Blue Meanie (Mighty Mighty
Bosstones, Thursday) and Wayne Manor, was mixed by Billy Milano (Agnostic
Front, Scar Culture, Merauder) and Dan Korneff (Ill Niño). “For
me it’s a whole new ball game, new members, new music and the
beginning of a new era,” states Milano. He continues, “It's
about putting the fun back into the music scene and making kick-ass
records that rock.” With songs like “Wigga,” which
makes light of the white suburban Urban wannabe Gangsta,’ to “Rage
Against The Mac Machine,” a song that questions not only the integrity
of the band (Rage Against the Machine) but also shoots down the credibility
of the group’s efforts by exposing the double standard that so
many musicians take but rarely understand. This record offers fun for
the whole family and is the feel good album of the year. Pick up a copy
of The Rebel You Love to Hate on May 20th or you’re gonna get
the Milano Mosh! www.billymilano.com
- NARNIA - Another chapter is written and The Great Fall has come to
fruition. Vocalist Christian Rivel’s (previously Christian Liljegren,
but took the last name of his wife) clear voice continues to take listeners
to new levels, and the addition of new bassist Andreas Olsson (Wisdom
Call) makes this a superb follow-up to 2001’s Desert Land. The
Great Fall also features guest performance by HammerFall drummer Anders
Johnasson on “Judgment Day” and Saviour Machine vocalist
Eric Clayton on “The Great Fall of Man.” Tracks like “
Back from Hell,” the catchy “The Countdown Has Begun”
and particularly the monumental “The Great Fall of Man”
(recorded with a large choir from Stockholm, Sweden) prove that Narnia
are on the top of their genre. :: Check out The Great Fall available
in stores now.
www.narniaworld.com
- PRIMAL FEAR - The band are happy to be in North America as part of
the 2003 Metal Gods tour. The tour which includes Rob Halford, Testament,
Immortal, Amon Amarth, Carnal Forge and Painmuseum made headway this
past Friday at Chicago’s House of Blues. Primal Fear will play
in the fourth position and will “show metal fans how power metal
made in Germany sounds” according to bassist Mat Sinner. This
will be the band’s first ever North American tour after playing
2002’s New Jersey Metalfest, as well as the 2002 Milwaukee Metalfest.
Unfortunately, Primal Fear drummer Klaus Sperrling can't be part of
the touring lineup but Annihilator drummer Randy Black takes care to
completely destroy the drums on this tour. For a complete tour diary
check the band's website at www.metalcommando.co.uk/feardiary.swf
www.primalfear.de
- SOILWORK - The band are currently making tracks across Europe wowing
audiences with Children of Bodom and Shadows Fall in support of their
soon to be released, Figure Number Five. The band plans to hit North
America this summer with In Flames in what will be only their second
visit to this side of the ocean. The band are very excited to come back
and show everyone what they are all about. Keep an eye out for the new
video from Figure Number Five, the first track off the disc, “Rejection
Role,” which should start airing on MTV2 and Much Music in the
coming weeks. Figure Number Five comes out on Tuesday. Be sure to grab
a copy quickly as the first pressing contains a free bonus disc with
early demos from the band. Please note that the band’s URL is
no longer soilwork.com. It has officially changed to www.soilwork.org
