New Orleans, Louisiana's sons of Southern grindcore, SOILENT GREEN, are obviously making an impression over at Adult Swim. SOILENT GREEN has not only toured with the notorious masters of animated death metal, Dethklok, but have recently recorded the opening theme song to Squidbillies fourth season, which just kicked off on May 17th on Adult Swim.

Vocalist Ben Falgoust comments; “Squidbillies is the best cartoon…excuse me…show on TV/Internet/Cable around! I felt that way before we did the theme tracks and I feel even stronger about it since I've seen the new episodes, despite our involvement with the program, of course.

It was an awesome and strange experience to track these theme songs for the Squidbillies. It was pretty shocking when were contacted by them to be involved with this project. I give credit to the rest of the guys in the band for pulling it off from a strange but fun perspective in incorporating Soilent Green's style into the theme song for the show.”

New Episodes of Squidbillies Air Sunday nights at midnight (ET, PT), and don't forget to check out SOILENT GREEN's latest release Inevitable Collapse In The Presence Of Conviction available as CD, limited special edition vinyl, and digital download. In other news, SOILENT GREEN are confirmed to play on the Terrorizer stage at this year's Hellfest in France.

    About Squidbillies:
America's favorite family of rural cephalopods is back for another season of hoopin' and a hollerin' fun in new episodes of Squidbillies airing on Sundays at midnight (ET, PT). Thanks to years of refinement in the North Georgia Mountains, the squids of yesteryear have adapted into the polished gems known today as the Cuylers. Early and his youngin' Rusty, Granny and their fellow inbreds pack in even more drinking, fighting and gunplay.

Squidbillies premiered on Adult Swim in October 2006 and is from creators Dave Willis and Jim Fortier, both Georgia natives. Willis and Fortier worked as writers and producers on Space Ghost Coast to Coast. When Adult Swim launched in 2001, Jim Fortier wrote and produced for The Brak Show, and Dave Willis, co-created Aqua Teen Hunger Force.

Soilent Green is available to speak with interested media now. Persons interested in speaking to the band should contact Kelli Malella at Metal Blade Records via any of the means below. Updated news and tour information can be found at www.metalblade.com and www.myspace.com/metalbladerecords

  • MOONSPELL and SAMAEL Team Up for N. American Tour!

Portugal’s MOONSPELL and Switzerland’s SAMAEL will join forces this Fall for the “Night Eternal Above America” tour. Joining them will be Prosthetic Records recording artists BOOK OF BLACK EARTH and Germany’s SECRETS OF THE MOON.

    Fernando Ribeiro of MOONSPELL commented:

“Call me emotional, but as a southern dark fuck I have the gut feeling that this will be the best and most important tour we have ever done in America! First and foremost, the music from all the bands is great, lively and emotional and sharing the stage with SAMAEL again is an honor we highly regard. And no more 25 minutes sets!!! For sure, we'll party less than on the great ‘Blackest of the Black’ with DANZIG and DIMMU BORGIR, but we'll spend more time in the altar celebrating with you guys and that's what counts! Last, we fear not to be a headliner in a country where we know we are still giving baby steps, and we'll do our best, musically and visually to deliver upon you the ‘Night Eternal,’ the solar and the lunar, in our songs and bodies. Be there for the full moon madness!”

    Vorph of SAMAEL added:

“When we first released ‘Above’ we weren’t sure we would tour for that album, but we’re thrilled this is happening and we’re glad this time America will be the first. We already gave a taste of it in March when we toured with CARCASS but on this upcoming tour it will be the chance to experiment ‘Above’ on a larger scale and see how it meshed with the older material. The billing is totally to our liking and sharing the stage once again with MOONSPELL will be great fun for us and for the people attending those shows. See you back on the road.”

The run will be followed by another headlining tour this July with THE AUTUMN OFFERING, THE AGONIST and SYBREED. During this tour THREAT SIGNAL will be debuting material from their upcoming sophomore effort.

    Vocalist Jon Howard commented:

"This tour is really special to us because we will be debuting 5 songs from our new album within an hour long performance. I'm really excited to see how the fans react to the new material. Its a very solid tour package with THE AGONIST, FLATLINE, and THEY WILL BE DONE, so the show is strong from beginning to end. This will be a heavy, brutal tour with lots of drinks and good times! We'll have our camera rolling for a DVD so put on your metal face and come rock out."

In a recent interview with Spine Language blog, Jon Howard stated about THREAT SIGNAL's decision to play new, as-yet-unreleased material as part of the band's current live performance:

"We feel that we've been playing the same show for too long. We've been playing songs from Under Reprisal for almost five years! The reactions have been amazing so far. Sometimes it feels as if they know the songs already! So with that said we have totally broken the rule. We are playing five songs from the new album, Vigilance, and six from Under Reprisal. So you get a good blend of new and old. I think people are craving new shit, so even if they do stand and nod their head, I don't care, I know they are just taking it all in!!"

  • NILE - WORKING ON VERY SPECIAL, BRUTAL AND DYNAMIC NEW ALBUM

Guitarist/songwriter Karl Sanders gives us a glimpse into what NILE is doing to ensure upcoming recording sessions at Mana Studios in Florida with Erik Rutan and Neil Kernon are crisis-free:

"George [Kollias] is notorious for drumming himself into ill-health during pre-production. He maniacally, slavishly, works at his craft - Extreme Metal Drumming - like a fiend 8 or 10 hours every single day with no breaks for weeks, all the while attempting to subsist on a diet consisting solely of long periods of self-imposed starvation and only occasionally interrupted by coffee, doughnuts, chocolate bars and bargain drive-thru cheeseburgers.

So, inevitably (no surprise here), over the course of the pre-production rehearsals, he runs his health completely into the ground every time. Exhaustion, fatigue, and injuries seem to plague him on every album. So what Dallas and I always have to do is just refuse to allow George to rehearse anymore, force-rest him, and nearly tie him down in order to force feed him some steaks, veggies and potatoes. Sheesh. Drummers.

I suppose though, that I really appreciate a serious workaholic attitude like George displays - he gives 500% of himself to Metal. He's dedicated, ready, willing and able to work hard, sacrifice and do whatever it takes to play the demanding NILE material. I wouldn't trade him for anybody."

    Producer Neil Kernon adds:

"The more preparation you do prior to recording the better, so as soon as the recording starts, things go smoothly and keep on the schedule you've set. The more thoroughly everyone involved knows what they have to do, the less chance there is of the ball being dropped once we're under way.

NILE's work ethic is fantastic. They are one of the hardest working bands I know, and each member of the band is constantly pushing the others to excel in what they do, and to try new things. That attitude keeps everyone striving to do better each time around. This new stuff is absolutely the most intense and challenging material they have thrown at me yet, and I'm loving it!

Doing pre-production in the same room together really helps gel the project. We have discussions about drum heads, drum sticks, and guitar and bass strings - making sure we have plenty of all the right types etc. We also get the amps re-tubed if necessary, and the guitars go off to the shop to be cleaned up so that everything is in perfect running order so we hit the ground running.

Me learning the material is a very important issue. I like to be as prepared as I can possibly be. It gives everyone an opportunity to go over the material over and over again ‘off the clock’ to make any tweaks or adjustments before we get into the studio itself - that way there's no loss of momentum. Any changes made to the songs are worked in, absorbed and executed with confidence and without uncertainly. I like to feel the momentum pick up when rehearsals are wrapping up, the vans are loaded up, and we all head off on the road trip to the studio. It's like a battalion going off to war, and is a really exciting feeling."

From Mana Recording Studios, Erik Rutan checks in with an update on new equipment purchased specifically to record the new NILE album:

"An album is like a canvas, and you only have so much space to fit everything. By using various mic pres with different characteristics, you can create more space and have each individual instrument have more of its own vibe and distinct tone. After talking to George [Kollias] and Neil [Kernon] and finding out that George likes to have only acoustic toms rather than sampled toms, I decided to buy a Vintech 473 mic pre, which has 4 channels. This way I would be able to track all six of George's toms through all six of these incredible mic pres. I love the way they sound for toms and guitars. Very warm and rich. I also recently purchased a Great River MP2NV, which sounds amazing for ride and hats, or for overheads. Various mic pres have different colors - so to speak - so everything has its own organic sound and vibe.

We’ll be using my Amek Mozart console for the recording, but the biggest assets will be from Neil and myself. I have been playing death metal for 20 years and have been producing for 10 years. Neil has worked on over 500 records and has a great relationship with NILE. This massive amount of collective experience and understanding of the music will really help decipher what exactly Karl, Dallas, and George want out of this album. Their professionalism and talent is impeccable, so there will be a great chemistry in the studio for sure. It is our job to get the best performances out of them, to bring out their vision of what they perceive their album to be, to bring to light their dream of a massive and devastating album with all the nuances that they imagine, to capture the magic that they create. Music lasts for an eternity so it is our goal to make it stand up to the test of time. I feel that all together we are going to make an album that is something very special, brutal, and dynamic!"

  • ENSLAVED - NORWEGIAN EMBASSY STAFFERS ATTEND RECENT SHOW IN D.C.

Kiki Ryan and Jeff Dufour of WashingtonExaminer.com report: You can't say the Norwegian Embassy doesn't take seriously its commitment to supporting the country's art. Even when that art happens to be death metal.

On Wednesday night, the Norwegian progressive metal band ENSLAVED played the 9:30 Club, its first show in D.C. And, to the crowd's surprise and delight, there were a group of embassy staffers in the VIP section, getting a shout-out from front man Grutle Kjellson.

Anne Myklebust, a cultural adviser at the embassy, said she and four of her colleagues went to see the show. But that wasn't by any means the beginning of their support. She said the embassy helped the band out with funding for its U.S. tour. So "they asked if they could see the embassy," and Wednesday afternoon, the band met with Ambassador Wegger Strommen for an hour.

  • BELPHEGOR - NEW ALBUM TITLE ANNOUNCED

Austrian blackened death metal outfit BELPHEGOR have set, Walpurgis Rites - Hexenwahn, as the title of their eighth full-length studio album, due out later this year via Nuclear Blast Records.

The follow-up to 2008's Bondage Goat Zombie was recorded at Andy Classen's (LEGION OF THE DAMNED, DEW-SCENTED, KRISIUN, ASPHYX) Stage One Studios in Kassel, Germany.

Commented frontman Helmuth: "The title fits perfect to the whole concept, the lyrical themes. It's typical BELPHEGOR, involving symbology and double meanings. I have always been fascinated by the idea and atmosphere surrounding witches, their magic, the insane sabbath/ ceremonies — and all the obscurity that goes with it. With the nine sound collages, the verses, artwork we continue our descent into the depths of musical hell."

Check out photos from the recording sessions at this location.

Bondage Goat Zombie entered the Austrian album chart at position No. 42 upon its release in early 2008. The CD also landed on the German chart at No. 81.

  • UNSIGNED BANDS: BEWARE OF LABEL STAFF IMPOSTERS & IMPERSONATORS

You’re an unsigned band playing a local show and someone approaches you claiming to represent Nuclear Blast or Metal Blade Records. They say they want to sign you, book studio time for your band, buy you plane tickets, or even put you on Ozzfest, yet no contracts are ever involved. Sound too good to be true? That’s because it is.

There’s been a rash of imposters in several states claiming all of the above and more. Some try to extort money from bands by claiming they need it to place a deposit on whatever it is they’re promising. Others want free entry into a show, free CDs & band merchandise, or backstage access. Whatever the case, what’s clear is that these imposters have such low-self esteem that they’re willing to lie about who they are.

Bands, DO NOT LET YOUR HOPES OF GETTING SIGNED BLINDSIDE YOU. Staff members at Nuclear Blast and Metal Blade:

    · conduct official business via their official office e-mail & telephone number.
    · can produce a business card with the label’s logo, official office address, and official telephone number.
    · NEVER ask unsigned bands for “deposit” money.

Nuclear Blast and Metal Blade Records wish to keep their reputations among metal fans & metal musicians in good standing, as we understand how hard bands work to bring their music to the metal community. These imposters are mocking everything we stand for as independent metal labels, as musicians, and as fans.

If ANYONE approaches your band claiming to be from a label and asks for money, for free entry into a show, free CDs or merchandise, or backstage access, your FIRST response should be to be skeptical.

Call the label asking to verify staff names and positions. Or, take your photo with the imposter/impersonator and send it to the label’s general e-mail address to inform them of what they are promising.

Llexi Leon began making noise in London, England in 2005. His highly intricate guitar style exhibits the many influences corralled to create his intense sound - from classical, flamenco, electronica, and ambient genres to the more prominent genres of rock and metal. All of these genres infused to one, Leon has built a cinematic metal fantasia with his music which has branched out to a comic book series. His main aspirations are bringing stories to life through escapism. He utilizes everyday events and his vivid imagination to drive him to create more avenues for his multimedia enterprise. To prove its tangibility, Leon, who is responsible for the basic concept artwork, storyboards, and character design/creation, has assembled a team of artists including:

Jason Metcalf: Pencils + Inks on Eternal Descent comics and Phantom single artwork. Talented and versatile artist has worked on Image comics titles such as The Darkness and Magdelena

Javier Tartaglia: Eternal Descent colourist, has provided stunning colouring work for many top Marvel comics titles.

This fulfilled Leon's dream of having all Eternal Descent media developed with the utmost highest standards under one roof. Leon will soon begin recording his third CD release with producer Eddie Kramer (Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, KISS) at the helm.

Eternal Descent endorses ESP Guitars, Ovation Guitars, Kahler Tremelos, Ernie Ball Strings, and Coffin Case.

  • QUEENSRYCHE ROCKS THE TROOPS AT FORT BENNING

On Monday, May 18, Queensryche -- Geoff Tate, Michael Wilton, Scott Rockenfield, Eddie Jackson and Parker Lundgren -- rocked the troops at Fort Benning, Georgia in between tour dates in support of their new Rhino Records CD, American Soldier. The post welcomed Queensryche with "open arms" as they gave all band members and their crew an exhilarating ride in an M1A1 Abrams tank and an M2 Bradley tank. In addition to that experience, the band dined with the troops earlier in the day and gave a concert performance on Sledgehammer Field, Kelley Hill in the afternoon. To commemorate the day, the band was given a personalized sledgehammer by the 3HBCT / 3 ID Sledgehammer Brigade (3rd Brigade of the 3rd Infantry Division). Queensryche will continue to tour throughout the year in support of American Soldier and plan to visit and perform for more troops along the way. • TRAILER FOR MAYNARD JAMES KEENAN (TOOL, PUSCIFER, A PERFECT CIRCLE) WINE DOCUMENTARY, “BLOOD INTO WINE,” NOW AVAILABLE FOR STREAMING AND DOWNLOAD

Directors given unprecedented access into the life of notoriously private musician

LOS ANGELES, June 11 – A trailer for “Blood Into Wine,” the widely anticipated documentary that shares the story of Tool/Puscifer front man Maynard James Keenan and his vineyard partner Eric Glomski and their quest to bring the wine industry to Arizona’s Verde Valley is now available as a high resolution download at http://www.twinklecashcompany.com (the site also offers viewers a stream as well as a version for the iPhone).

Keenan’s various musical entities (Tool, Puscifer and A Perfect Circle) have sold over 10 million records in the US alone while the man himself has revealed little of his personal life. “Blood Into Wine” gives unprecedented insight into Keenan’s world and his motivations for taking on the arduous task of bringing winemaking to the region’s unforgiving landscape and how winemaking fits into Keenan’s creative trajectory.

The film is being co-directed by Ryan Page and Christopher Pomerenke (the filmmakers behind critically acclaimed documentaries Moog and The Heart Is A Drum Machine) and is set to wrap production in September with a limited theatrical release in February and March 2010. With the striking setting playing such an integral role in the shaping of this story, Page and Pomerenke elected to use a Red One camera (one of the highest quality digital cinema cameras available). The film is being shot by Cary Truelick, edited by Rob Beadle, and produced by Ryan Page, Christopher Pomerenke, Chris McDaniel, and Jason Stall.

What folks are saying about CITY OF SHIPS:

“Pounding bass lines and quirky rhythms and structures that almost have a math metal sort of vibe, but there's also a constant flow of all kinds of incredibly tactful 'post-' influences, from lush clean passages and swirling, spacey effects to noisier layers of intense guitar work. I'm really fuckin' impressed by this material. Excellent.” – Aversionline.com

“The group's frenetic energy and obvious emotional stake in the music which they play is simultaneously impressive and inspiring.” – Scenepointblank.com

“Amidst the ocean of droney post-rock, post-hardcore clones, there are only a couple bands that catch my attention. City of Ships had me hooked from beginning to end.” - Razorcake

“This takes me back to a time of discovering exciting new sounds in the underground scene that really blew minds, from Kerosene 454 to Ethel Meserve — bands unhindered by genre and expressing endless enthusiasm for just playing great music. City of Ships are hard to describe and easy to enjoy, both great things.” - Exclaim

  • GOD FORBID post “War Of Attrition” video online; touring Europe/UK in June/July 2009

GOD FORBID are proud to launch their much anticipated new video “War of Attrition”, which was shot by acclaimed director Ian McFarland (Sick of It All). This clip perfectly captures the band’s frenetic and unrelenting live performance presence and you can now check it out at the following link:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=41LfmT6bD9E

Doc Coyle (guitars, vocals) further comments:
“Shooting videos kinda sucks. Especially performance videos. You have to head bang for 10 hours in a row, fake play your songs, and you don't even know if all the work will pay off with an awesome video. With that said, this is by far the best performance video we've ever had and it really captures the intensity of the song. As you can see from the clip, we really put our trust in Ian who was incredible to work with. Ian and his crew were super professional. I can't wait for everyone to see the finished product. And like Dave Chappelle says, ‘Everything looks better in slow motion.’ See you all this summer.”

GOD FORBID recently completed a successful trek with Lamb of God, As I Lay Dying, Children of Bodom and Municipal Waste. The group are now preparing for a multi-festival European run as well as some off-date club shows with Anthrax and Devildriver in support of their highly acclaimed, new album “Earthsblood”, which scored the band their highest US chart debut yet coming in at #110 on the Billboard Top 200.

Fans throughout North America get to see the band all summer long on the massive Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival as part of the Jägermeister stage alongside All That Remains and Trivium. • HEAVEN SHALL BURN “Bildersturm – Iconoclast II (The Visual Resistance)” chart entries!

Century Media Records and HEAVEN SHALL BURN are glad to announce a double chart entry in Germany for the band’s first official DVD/live release “Bildersturm – Iconoclast II (The Visual Resistance)”! The release entered the German DVD charts at #3 (thus HSB only have been beaten by Iron Maiden and Eric Clapton) and the Austrian DVD charts at #9 as well as the official German album charts at #54, congratulations!

    The band comments:
“For us personally the chart success of a release is not that relevant. What is important to us is the reactions and feedback of our friends and fans. As these reactions are so overwhelmingly positive we are really, really happy at the moment that this release could meet your and our expectations. Of course, that does not mean we give a fuck about charting, not at all! We know it is something special to achieve a chart entry especially with a DVD but – and that’s something many bands tend to forget about – not we but you guys out there who bought this release made this possible. It is awesome that with your support we could give all these poser bands a swift kick in the ass!”

  • Century Media Records will release the new album "Years In The Darkness" in Europe!

Century Media Records proudly announce the European release of ARKAEA’s debut album “Years In The Darkness” in July 2009 under exclusive license from E1 Entertainment.

Featuring one of metal's hungriest young singers, Jon Howard from Threat Signal as well as gold-selling Fear Factory guitarist/bassist Christian Olde Wolbers and drummer Raymond Herrera plus Threat Signal bassist Pat Kavanagh ARKAEA are destined to unleash a whirlwind of modern metallic fury upon the masses!

“Years In The Darkness” was produced by Christian Olde Wolbers and ARKAEA, mixed by legendary producer Terry Date (Deftones, Slipknot, White Zombie, Soundgarden, Pantera) and mastered by Ted Jensen of Sterling Sound, who also mastered Fear Factory’ s gold album “Obsolete”.

On its new cooperation with Century Media Records, Raymond Herrera states:
“After being asked by so many European fans about the release of the ARKAEA record, it is a great pleasure to announce the allegiance between ARKAEA and Century Media for the European market. Century Media has a great roster and strong workforce and it is refreshing to see a record label as excited about our album as we are.”

In addition to that, vocalist Jon Howard already describes what you can expect of “Years In The Darkness”:
“Chris and Ray have been writing together for many years, so the music does have a lot of Fear Factory elements. However, we’ve been open to trying different things. It basically fuses what I have been doing vocally in Threat Signal with driving Fear Factory rhythms, along with some of our own experimentation. The idea behind the project is to be heavy, but maintain melody at the same time. We have crazy riffs, but some grooving choruses as well. It’s a great mix.”

The track-listing for “Years In The Darkness” reads as follows:

    1. Locust (4:26)
    2. Beneath The Shades Of Grey (5:05)
    3. Years In The Darkness (4:15)
    4. Gone Tomorrow (4:09)
    5. Awakening (3:45)
    6. Black Ocean (4:11)
    7. Break The Silence (5:08)
    8. Lucid Dreams (3:44)
    9. My Redemption (4:14)
    10. War Within (4:16)
    11. The World As One (4:16)
    12. Rise Today (4:37)
    13. Away From The Sun (5:42)
    14. Blackened Sky (European bonus track) (4:24)
    Total running time: 62:12 min

The devastating track “Locust” and the album’s cover artwork by Gustavo Sazes (God Forbid, Krisiun, Old Man’s Child) can already be checked out at http://www.myspace.com/arkaeamusic, so head over there now!

  • ORPHANED LAND post studio update!

Israel’s ORPHANED LAND have posted an update regarding the band’s progress on their highly anticipated new album “ORwarriOR”, vocalist Kobi Farhi states:

“Hello to all the orphans, warriors of light out there!

We are still in the studio, working hard to give birth to our new album and the warrior of light – “ORwarriOR”. Drums, percussions, bass, all kinds of guitars, violins, piano and oriental instruments (Buzouki, Saz, Cumbus and more) have already been recorded and right now I am recording my vocals which include narrations, clean singing, Arabic chants and growls. Female vocals are being recorded in the coming days, too. Since I sing in so many different ways, this experience is very tough for me and I have to deal with many kinds of atmospheres, styles and languages (including English, Hebrew and Arabic).

Last week we took a break from the recordings while Steven Wilson (Porcupine Tree, Opeth) came to visit us in Israel and had a first session with us in the studio. Steve listened with us to the whole album and mentioned that this is easily our best work so far!

Steve will do the keyboards and mixing once we have finished recording vocals, which is supposed to happen within the next 2-3 weeks. We are excited to hear the results that will come from Steven's studio and we are sure that together we will be able to deliver a fantastic album for the middle eastern metal scene and one of the most interesting and original albums the worldwide metal scene has ever known!

We are looking forward to sharing this album with you and can't wait to hit the road again to play live for you! We send you our greetings from the studio!

Forever orphaned - Let there be light. / Kobi Farhi”

So, stay tuned to http://www.myspace.com/orphanedmyspace and ultimatemetal.com! for more news from the studio!

  • DAATH announce new worldwide touring plans; post new video teaser online!

With its new album “The Concealers” Atlanta based quintet DAATH recently unleashed a straight shot of heavy as f**k extreme metal upon the masses. While receiving massive media acclaim, the band now announces new worldwide touring plans that should please their American and European fans to equal terms!

After their US tour with Dragonforce, DAATH will first hit American stages from June to August with Goatwhore, Abigail Williams, SWWAATS and Abysmal Dawn. In September/October 2009 European fans are going to taste the band’s unbridled sonic fury as DAATH will be touring with the mighty Chimaira, Unearth and Throwdown - a great opportunity to present the stunning new album “The Concealers” live! Unfortunately, due to these new touring plans the band has to cancel its European festival appearances, guitarist Eyal Levi comments:

“Some unfortunate news in the DAATH camp is that we’ve had to cancel our European Summer Festival appearances. These fests were booked so far apart with no gigs in between that there was no way we could financially afford to stay in Europe all that time without resorting to either begging for change or selling our bodies in the red light districts. While we’d love to take part in the latter none of us are attractive enough to compete with the working girls and therefore we apologize to all the festival organizers, booking agents, and most importantly fans for this. Cancelling is something we hate to do. However much this sucks, a much more realistic European venture has come our way in the form of the Chimaira / Unearth / Throwdown tour which will hit almost all of Europe in September and October! We’re looking forward to touring with some of the best bands metal has to offer as well as sharing the road with our brothers in Unearth yet again! See you guys there!“

Furthermore, DAATH recently shot a video for the song “Day Of Endless Light” with director Robin Fuller (Ghost of a Thousand, Shaped By Fate), a sneak peak into the madness that awaits is now available at the band’s MySpace page as well as their complete touring itinerary, so head over to http://www.myspace.com/daath!

In the new songs influences and cross references can be made with names like Faith no More, Psychotic Waltz, Nevermore, Dream Theater or even Iron Maiden and Thin Lizzy. Raw melancholic metal riffs, groovy drums and dark grunts will be enlightened with the powerful clean sometimes almost poppy and soulful, lead vocals of Legrand.

‘Dreamon’ and ‘Framed, two songs of the new album can already be heard on www.cirrhaniva.nl.

The album is recorded & produced by producers Jochem Jacobs and Bouke Visser at Split Second Sound Studio (Textures, Autumn, Stream of Passion) & Excess Recording Studio (Ayreon, After Forever, Gorefest). "For Moments Never Done" carries 7 songs with a total playing time of approx 47 minutes. The songs in running order are: ‘The Fooling’, ‘Dreamon’, ‘Framed’, ‘Running From The Source’, ‘Golan Heights’, ‘Spring Before Winter’ and ‘Self Chosen’.

On the album Cirrha Niva is supported by the following guest musicians; Manda Ophuis (Nemesea), Joost van den Broek (After Forever), Yuval Kramer (Amaseffer), Robin de Groot (Chiraw) and Bouke Visser.

"Sunn’s music has shown an astonishing capacity for expansion and transformation." - Signal To Noise

"...inverts all expectations; negative space infuses their pulverizing tendencies, revealing that light is the new heavy." - Spin Magazine

"Needless to say, this is not your dad’s heavy metal.... John Cage–inspired sonic experimentation, elements of modern classical music, folk, post-rock, and free jazz are embedded under the crush of ambient feedback. Ozzy it’s not." - New York Magazine

"Per Sunn O)))'s long-standing dogma, "Maximum volume [still] yields maximum results." But this time, there's enough musical range and temperance to usher even the most resolute naysayer into this intricate wonderland." - Pitchfork.com

"This is an album for people who love their music, not something that can be dropped into a playlist for easier digestion. Monoliths & Dimensions is tremendous in every way." - Brainwashed.com

  • FIREHOUSE GUITARIST BILL LEVERTY GETS BLUESY AND FUNKY ON 'DEEP SOUTH' AVAILABLE NOW FROM AMAZON AND ITUNES

With his guitar work as a member of FireHouse, Bill Leverty set the rock world ablaze with his fiery riffs and solos. But Leverty is no one-trick pony, as evidenced by his new solo release, 'Deep South.' Instead of focusing on the arena-ready rockers that his full-time band specializes in, 'Deep South' is steeped in tough blues and southern rock sounds – bringing to mind such legendary names as ZZ Top, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and the Allman Brothers. "When you hear the songs in context, you'll hear that this is not a typical hard rock/heavy metal album," explains Leverty. "On this one, I tried to let the music tell ME how to sound, not the other way around. There are so many different instruments on this album that I have never recorded before. This album is a chance for me to stretch out as a musician, singer, producer and engineer."

In addition to supplying guitar, Leverty also handles lead vocal duties, as well as incorporating such uncommon instruments as a guitarelele and dobro into the mix. Instead of whipping up a batch of tunes that replicate the sounds of the south, Leverty opted to go right to the source. "Most of these songs have been around for about 100 years," says Leverty. "I have a great new appreciation for the American music of the late 1800's and early 1900's, and I wanted to put my twist on it." Featured is the album-opening "Trouble So Hard" (of which was made popular by Moby, who sampled some of the original in his hit single, "Natural Blues"), as well as the album's first video, "Boll Weevil," the sweet acoustic strum of "Walk Beside Me," the muscular blues rock of "Samson and Delilah," and a finger-snappin' jazzy reading of the Ray Charles classic, "Hit the Road Jack" (which includes some impressive piano playing from Leverty, as well as vocals from his wife, Kris). Additionally, Leverty's grandfather's artwork adjourns the album's front cover.

You will find yourself playing this album over and over again. It is destined to become a classic, possibly creating a new musical swath, and the CD belongs in the collection of every person who loves music, especially guitar. The album is very deep, and it seems Leverty has aptly entitled it, 'Deep South.'

    Confirmed Tracklisting for 'Deep South'
    Trouble So Hard
    Run On
    Boll Weevil
    Nine Hundred Miles
    Samson And Delilah

  • IMPIETY End All Life With Latest Album

Singapore's almighty maelstrom returns, possibly with their most furious release to date. IMPIETY are one of the world's most notoriously destructive bands, gaining that reputation over the course of their near 20-year existence. The band's incalculably destructive nature amalgamates insanely high-speed blasting, brutally-fast riff structures and relentless guttural torment, resulting in some of the most destructive blackened death metal on the planet.

IMPIETY's 6th studio album - appropriately entitled Terroreign: Apocalyptic Armageddon Command - is arguably the band's most hellish bloodstorm of relentless rage to date. Dedicated to and based upon the pitiful scum that humans are, the album presents a grim look at man's final days on Earth. The album presents ten tracks in total, including an Intro and Outro exclusively provided by Holocausto Vengeance of Beherit!

While the UK's finest progressive death purveyors Akercocke return after topping the same stage in Manchester in 2006.

Festival director Gavin McInally said: "It's always a coup to land great bands but when they are the bands the fans have requested time and time again and even voted for, it's all the more satisfying to have them back.

"Entombed were phenomenal in our first year and for many Akercocke were the band of the day in 2006 so there's no doubt they'll be sterling additions to the fifth Damnation Festival."
