  • New grenadier joins the ranks of Loits

Release of the new album brought along a switch of guitarists. Once again, Gates has left the band, this time for good. Thus Loits has had some pretty busy times; in addition to promotional work, all free mornings and nights have been spent in rehearsals. Our new comrade Lauri Kuriks hails from the drag-race-thrash-metal band Nitrous. Loits’s performance at Hard Rock Laager 2007, introducing the new guitarist, effectively proved that we are again ready for battle, possibly more powerful than ever. If in doubt, have a reassuring look-see here:

  • With the massive new full-length Serpent Saints about to erupt forth on July 31

The career accomplishments of three-time Swedish Grammy Award nominated Entombed are more than extensive. Pioneering the early European death metal sound, the band has consistently delivered recordings always one ahead of their peers. Now with Serpent Saints long time fans will find an invigorated and streamlined quartet ready to carve yet another notch in already impressive career.

Serpent Saints closes a now four year gap; the album following the 2004 special 2xCD reissue of the band’s highly regarded Inferno album (originally released by Koch then reissued by Candlelight in 2004). The album presents the band continuing to expand their signature sound as they embrace ten brand new songs. With European dates already booked the band look to return to the US for the first time since 2004 in late fall/early winter 2008. Even with the first glimpse via the widely-respected and now collected early Nihilist material (special demo album available now from Candlelight), listeners and now decade-long fans knew early on that Entombed was to go far. Since their formation, giving rise to the classic “Swedish death metal” sound, the recently inducted Decibel Magazine’s “Hall of Fame” band have consistently upped the ante on each and every album, often adding unexpected curves along the way.

Fans have come to respect the band’s experimentation and with the arrival of Serpent Saints fans will again find quality metal and unique presentations from a band that so many respect and so few can rival.

  • TEXTURES line-up change

TEXTURES have posted this news on their website about a developing line-up change,

"Due to personal reasons, our bass player Dennis has decided to leave the band and focus on his personal life for a while. We're surely going to miss him! We wish him tons of luck in all his future endeavors and thank him for all these years of fun, crazy heavy music and crushing the stage with us.

We're currently in the process of finding a new bass player; Michel 'MuD' Quak will temporarily replace Dennis during the upcoming Cynic show and UK Tour. We'll keep you posted."

They continue to update their fans with the upcoming album plans

"In September we will continue writing our new album, which we hope to start recording in November. We set our minds to a 2008 Spring release, of course followed by a big number of new shows to support the new material. We can't wait to crush you all with new songs!"

  • THE MINOR TIMES hits stores, streaming e-card available

Pennsylvania's hardcore stalwarts THE MINOR TIMES have uploaded an e-card for the band's brand new album, 'Summer of Wolves,' hit stores June 26 through Prosthetic Records. The e-card features the album in its entirety and showcases the record's artwork. Click here to check it out.

In other THE MINOR TIMES news: "Relapse records is going to be releasing a limited edition 7" with us and our friends Rosetta," the band says. "The record will feature two brand new tracks from us not available anywhere else. If you're not familiar with Rosetta, head over to their page, those guys are incredible. Needless to say, we're pretty floored to have a record coming out on Prosthetic and a 7" on Relapse with a great band."

In addition, THE MINOR TIMES recently parted ways with guitarist Lou Millinghausen on good terms. "Lou has been playing with us for some time now and was instrumental in the song writing process for 'Summer of Wolves," the band previously said. "We love the guy to death and will miss him a lot. Instead of searching for a replacement, we've simply decided that Tim will now handle all the guitar duties in the band. We have been practicing with this arrangement for over a month now and feel very comfortable with the idea of presenting it everywhere this entire summer. We've got a ton of shows coming up followed by four weeks of tour with our good friends Engineer."

The release of 'Summer of Wolves,' is the follow-up to 'Making Enemies,' which saw a 2004 release via Level Plane Records and was re-released in 2005 through Prosthetic Records. Producer Vince Ratti (Bury Your Dead, A Life Once Lost) returned again to record the record with the band to record the new record last winter and will be mastered by Alan Douches (Shadows Fall, Converge).

  • KING DIAMOND: European Tour Postponed

KING DIAMOND's management has issued the following statement:

"Most regretfully we have been forced to postpone the KING DIAMOND Europe tour, scheduled for the fall of '07. King has, over the past month and a half, been suffering from severe pain in his back, and following several visits to doctors, specialists and most recently an MRI scan; he has been diagnosed a herniated disc in the spine, and prescribed absolute rest for several months. Failure to follow the doctors orders will cause irreparable damage to his spine, and for obvious reasons, there is no way he can go on tour and perform, with all the travel and physical activities this would include. We expect King to recover fully after a prolonged period of rest, and we are determined to reschedule the tour dates, not cancel the tour. Further details of the re-schedule of the Europe tour will be given at www.covenworldwide.org as soon as possible. Since we will need some time to reschedule; tickets already purchased will be refunded the way this is usually done. The U.S. tour will not be affected by this. All should be well by early 2008."

  • LIGHT THIS CITY offers update from the road

Bay Area thrashers LIGHT THIS CITY are currently on the road, headlining the Thrash and Burn Tour, alongside labelmates THE FUNERAL PYRE. The bands has offered this update from the road: "The Thrash and Burn Tour 07 is going amazing! The first week was definitely awesome, and beyond our expectations. The first five shows were with Cerberus and Antagonist, who killed it each night. Highlights include Redwood City, Fresno, and The Chain Reaction! Thanks to everyone who have come out to the shows so far. Besides the horrible, horrible heat in the desert, we couldn't be having a better time. We are now with The Funeral Pyre and Antagonist for the rest of the tour. This tour has been so awesome because everyone on the tour are pretty much best friends. We have known these bands for a long time and toured with them before, so we are one big heavy metal family. We have three new awesome merch designs on this tour, so if you are planning on coming to any of the shows, prepare to see some awesome new shirts and hoodies. This is our first tour headlining, so we sincerely appreciate everyone who has come out to the shows thus far. See you on the rest of the dates!"

The band continues to support its latest effort, 'Facing The Thousand,' which saw a fall 2006 release through Prosthetic Records. The band recently shot a video for the track "The Unwelcome Savior" with director Soren (Unearth), which can be seen here: http://youtube.com/watch?v=1H4SVRApGhM.

But with ORPHANED LAND we offer you a decent replacement, those of you who remember their performance at ProgPower Europe 2005 must agree that we have made an excellent choice. Besides ProgPower Scandinavia, their return to ProgPower Europe will be the only gig the band will do in the North-Western part of Europe this autumn, so be sure not to miss the chance to see ORPHANED LAND as co-headliner for Alchemist with a show of 1 hrs and 20 minutes.

"Evil Ways" will be available for purchase starting July 31 and for fans will be the first and only advance listen of the album set to hit North American stores on August 28.

Tampa-based Obituary featuring vocalist John Tardy, guitarist Trevor Peres, bassist Frank Watkins, drummer Donald Tardy and new guitarist Ralph Santolla are one of the genre's most respected and successful bands. Formed in 1985, the quartet have released six critically-acclaimed albums that have to date sold nearly one million copies in the United States.

Regarding the band's new cooperation with Candlelight Records Frank Watkins says, "we are very excited to be part of Candlelight Records. This will mark a new chapter in death metal history." John Tardy says, ""we are really looking forward to having a record company that wants to work with us. We feel rejuvenated and this new album is gonna be sick!" Donald Tardy adds, ""we couldn't be more pumped about teaming up with Candlelight. It is an unbelievable feeling to know that a record company cares about our music as much as we do."

Album art for Xecutioner's Return was created by artist Andreas Marshall. Marshall has worked with the band for The End Complete and their most recent record Frozen in Time. The album was produced by the band with mastering completed at Morrisound Studios in Tampa on June 16.

  • FALL OF THE LEAFE - "Aerolithe" release date: August 20, 2007

Fall of the Leafe plays guitar driven, progressive atmospheric rock with a metallic edge. The band reserves the right to blend in any styles and influences without prior notice. Aerolithe is the 6th album from this well known Finnish band, who craft very personal, infectious harmonies in a very Scandinavian metal style. Vocalist Tuomas Tuominen has been voted as one of the top 3 metal vocalist in Finland, and Aerolithe shows the band taking a heavier and more straightforward approach than their previous albums. It was mastered by Svante Forsback at Charmakers, one of the top studios in Finland.

Guitarist & vocalist James Malone regretfully explains why ARSIS had to drop off the Revolver Magazine-sponsored Summer Slaughter Tour while supporting their latest release, United In Regret:

"Due to circumstances beyond our control, we've been forced to drop off the Summer Slaughter Tour. I do apologize to ALL the fans that missed seeing us. To make a long story short, everything was going great for us until we reached Sacramento, California. After that show, our van began to give us trouble - which surprised us since the van had just been in for repairs twice before the tour even started and we were sure the problem had been fixed. So we took the van in to the nearest dealership, were told the problem could be resolved in 3 days, and decided to wait in Sacramento until the van was fixed. It's now over 2 WEEKS LATER and the van STILL hasn't been repaired. Unfortunately, it's already too late for us to rent a vehicle. We've gone broke paying for hotels. Van rental fees + the cost of gas would have cost us a fortune to catch up to the tour. Please understand that we made the best decision we could with the information we were given. Unfortunately, it turns out we made the wrong decision."

Offers to assist with lodging, gas card gift donation pledges, and general well-wishes for the band can be left at: www.myspace.com/ARSIS
