THRESHOLD will headline the event on Sunday 5 October with a full 2 hour show.

Other bands that are confirmed so far are PAGAN’S MIND, DIVISION BY ZERO, SUSPYRE and GHOST BRIGADE, the next couple of weeks we will confirm more bands.

We have started already advance sales of weekend tickets and package deals right now, check out the website for all the details, http://www.progpower.eu/. We hope to see you all in October as we celebrate our 10th anniversary.

  • DARK SUNS new album "Grave Human Genuine" out in February

Following two highly successful tours with established Progressive metalists Pain Of Salvation and two years of exacting work, DARK SUNS have finished their third album "Grave Human Genuine".

"Grave Human Genuine" - this unconventional title was chosen with care and purpose, as it represents the three characteristic elements of this work: 'Grave' signifies darkness, the sinister force, and the inevitable fate. 'Human' is synonymous with the music's inherent soul-depth, while 'Genuine' means 'real' or 'authentic' and hence refers to DARK SUNS' uncompromising approach to music.

But what about the music? DARK SUNS don't merely pick up where the successful predecessor "Existence" (2005) left off, they present themselves as many-facetted as never before. A clear nod to Doom, complex polyrhythms, unusual and diverse instruments and, last but not least, drummer Niko Knappe's characteristic yearning vocals comprise the album's cornerstones. The variety of sounds stretches from angular Metal riff attacks via atmospheric ambient soundscapes and Techno reminiscences to Avant-garde influences - despite this complexity, an accomplished musical mosaic of enormous expressiveness.

Exciting nuances are created by the incomparable bass of Pain Of Salvation's long-time member Kristoffer Gildenlöw, a friendly turn that resulted from the tours mentioned above, and Disillusion's Schmidt's guest vocals in "Flies In Amber".
With "Grave Human Genuine" DARK SUNS have created a haunting album full of autonomy and instrumental class, self-consciously charting new musical territory. In this, the band from Leipzig embodies the essence of every true progressive band: compositional genius coupled with advancement. The dark suns radiate: gloomy, human and egregiously genuine.

The album will be released as limited edition Digipak CD with bonustrack and normal Jewelcase edition on 25.02.2008.

  • ALL THAT REMAINS frontman offers year-end update

Phil Labonte, frontman for Massachusetts' ALL THAT REMAINS, has issued a year-end update focusing on upcoming headlining tour plans as well as the writing and recording process for the forthcoming follow up to ‘The Fall of Ideals,’ tentatively scheduled for a mid-2008 release.

“I'm writing stuff again,” Labonte says. ”It's awesome. I love playing guitar. I love Mesa Boogie cabs and Peavey 5150 heads. I love Mike's blonde Washburn, it sounds so fucking awesome. There's just one problem: When you got a sweet sounding guitar and amp even dumb shitty riffs sound heavy. Ha ha, I've written a couple of stinkers with an amp then play them in my room without an amp. I'm like, ‘am I fucking stupid? I liked that?’ But I digress. ATR started because I missed playing guitar (for those that don't know). I love when I get the chance to sit down and play. I kinda suck still, cause until the last week or two I hadn't played since we finished [The Fall of Ideals], but I don't care ‘cause the guitar sounds so good!

“I've been writing lyrics too...Lots of pretty positive stuff. I'm a pretty positive dude anyway. But things have been really pretty good lately and it's really coming through in the new stuff. I believe that with conviction and honesty with yourself you can achieve pretty much anything you're willing to work for. So don't get a job. Start something. Be something. It's not gonna be easy but it's gonna be way better than busting your ass to make someone else money. Work for yourself. But again I'm off the subject. Lyrics to the new record are gonna give you something to feel good about. ‘Cause there's always plenty of stuff you make ya feel shitty.

“Headline tour in February!! We are gonna be pulling out all the stops for this one. We're gonna have a far bigger production than we have ever had. I won't make any promises and we're probably not gonna play anything off of ‘Behind Silence.’ No time to teach old songs. We have a record to write as well as get ready for a tour. And it's gonna be a SWEET TOUR! Tickets are SELLING now. Five Finger Death Punch is blowing up. I see them EVERYWHERE; TV, all over MySpace, the interwebz, radio, everywhere. Chimaira, we've done a bunch of touring with this band and they are AWESOME live. Such a great show these guys put on. Basically ATR have to play our best every night or we're gonna look dumb. Ha ha ha. So yeah, get your tickets if ya plan on making the show.

    Oh yeah, Happy New Year!”

Tickets for ALL THAT REMAINS’ headlining tour are available online here. The band continues to support its latest effort, ‘The Fall of Ideals,’ which saw a July 2006 release through Prosthetic Records. Also recently released this past fall were a reissue of the band’s since out of print debut ‘Behind Silence and Solitude’ as well as the band’s first-ever DVD, ‘All That Remains Live,’ which features all the band’s music videos, footage from two live shows, behind the scenes footage, interviews with the fans and the band, and more.

  • LIGHT THIS CITY offers year-end update

Bay Area thrashers LIGHT THIS CITY have issued a year-end update on the band's MySpace page:

"Holy Shit! 2007 Was a fucking beast! Thanks to everyone who came out to our shows, let us crash at their houses, and raised their horns high. Let's do a little recap, eh?

"The year started off with a short tour with our buddies in All That Remains, which was absolutely incredible. We couldn't be more stoked to be going out with those dudes again in February. After that was the video shoot for 'The Unwelcome Savior' with Darren Doane which ended up on regular rotation on MTV2's Headbangers Ball and on Comcast on Demand. That was one of our dreams come true, and we can't thank Darren enough for being so rad and the awesome job done on the video!

"Next was our Southwest 'California Love' tour with The Faceless and Antagonist, which was needless to say, tons of fun. Check out both bands if you haven't already, because they are awesome dudes who shred…hard. In April, we embarked on the 'Radicalysm' tour with Horse the Band, The Number 12 Looks Like You, and So Many Dynamos. All great great bands. So Many Dynamo's new record is going to be huge, so get into them early before they blow up!! That was one of the most interesting and hilariously awesome tours we have ever been a part of. All amazing dudes, we thank Horse the Band for taking us out and being such sweet guys.

"After another run of shows with All That Remains in May, we embarked on our first ever headlining tour, the 'Thrash and Burn' Tour alongside Cerberus, The Funeral Pyre, and Antagonist. That was extremely successful, and we were so pleased with all you metalheads that came and showed your love! Make sure to check out the above mentioned bands, because they are some of the only genuine 'real' metal bands around right now, and they deserve your attention!

"What came next blew our minds completely. The 'Rocket Ride' Tour with Edguy, Into Eternity and Echoes of Eternity. This was our first ever 'really really heavy metal' tour, and it was fucking incredible. The crowds every night were insane, and the bands were so good. Edguy is probably the best band ever, ever.

"Almost lastly was the 'Death by Decibels' tour alongside Vader, Malevolent Creation, Cattle Decapitation, Abigail Williams and Veil of Maya, which most definitely kicked ass. Amazing bands, brutal music, brutal shows. So good. Lastly was this little 5 day run with good friends in Suicide Silence, The Faceless and Oblige entitled the 'Santa Slays Tour.' All these shows were amazing and absolutely packed. The perfect way to end the year. Thanks to all our California friends for showin' up and hangin' out! Definitely made us feel awesome, and ended the year in the best way possible. Raising the horns high in anticipation of 2008!

"What's next for LTC you ask? We are home for January writing our new record which should be out in September 08'. Then we leave for a US tour with All That Remains and Chimaira. We are fucking excited. Plenty more news coming soon. Stay tuned!"

Continuing to support Facing The Thousand, the band's latest release, LIGHT THIS CITY is now hard at work continuing to write material for the band's follow-up, tentatively due out fall 2008 through Prosthetic Records. The video for "The Unwelcome Savior" can be viewed online here.

  • MARAZENE Issue Studio Update, Declare 2008: 'The Year of the MARAZENE Machine'

Chicago based MARAZENE have issued a studio update via their Myspace blog and (in a tradition established in 2006) have declared 2008, 'The Year of The MARAZENE Machine'.

An excerpt of the update issued by multi-instrumentalist and co-founder DieTrich Thrall follows:

"It's time for NEW MUSIC and I am excited to be able to report that [multi-instrumentalist and co-founder] Nikk and myself are knuckle-deep in writing album two!

We have a couple dozen really strong song ideas and we're writing more every day.

There's plenty of new material in all different stages of development and we're constantly bouncing riffs off of one another on whatever instrument the part calls for.

There is a running theme to the material that's coming about quite naturally and being a part of the refinement process of this collaboration is the fucking coolest thing since we were at this stage for album one. It's always a little strange to talk about the process involved in creating and things that are still in the idea stage (especially as you're doing it) but I am feeling pretty fucking good about everyones reaction to where we're headed.

We're aiming for a Spring '08 Sneak Peek at live shows and other audio outlets and of course we'll keep everyone up to speed once we have things a bit more ironed out so sit tight."

Read the entire blog posting HERE:

As previously reported this past June, MARAZENE became the first nationally touring
band from the metal genre that exists in the real-world to make the jump from reality
performance into virtual performance in SECOND LIFE, a Matrix-style social interactive virtual world.

Marazene self released their debut album, 'MachiNation', on 06.06.06 and completed
three National tours with such National acts as MUSHROOMHEAD, PSYCLON NINE, DEADSTAR ASSEMBLY, and THE HUMAN ABSTRACT as well as dozens of Midwestern regional tour dates in support, all under the banner '100% DIY'.

It’s uncommon that an all-instrumental rock band can keep the attention span of
non-musicians. But due to their penchant for crafting memorable non-vocal
melodies along with their impressive, expert chops, Bushwhack is one such band
that manages to successfully walk that fine line – as evidenced by their
recently issued self-titled debut (available online and through iTunes).

Comprised of guitarist Jamie Van Dyck, bassist Brandon Green, keyboardist/samplist Frank Sacramone, and drummer Ben Shanbrom, the New Haven, CT-based quartet has created an undeniable buzz on the strength of their debut, which features design by renowned artist Ioannis, as well as photographs by another renowned name in the rock world – Mark Weiss.

Upon inspection of Bushwhack’s thirteen track debut – produced by Jeff Cannata – it quickly becomes apparent that the band posses a sound that brings to mind such acts (and chief Bushwhack influences) as Dream Theater and Porcupine Tree. However, like all rock bands that manage to stand out from the pack, Bushwhack transcend their influences, creating their own unique sound/style in the process – something that is becoming increasingly uncommon in rock’s current climate.

But according to Sacramone, their non-vocal approach isn’t something they deliberately set out to do. But rather, it happened naturally, and at this point, is a crucial ingredient to the Bushwhack sound. “We haven’t really found a singer that has meshed with the band yet. Our band is comprised of four very close friends, and we need someone with a voice that would actually improve the melodic and tonal quality of the music.” Van Dyck adds, “The idea of a vocalist, we figured would fall into our laps. Now, here we are three years later. We are kind of reaching a fork in the road – we can continue as an instrumental unit, or we add a vocalist. Until we find the right vocalist, we’re probably not going to go down the vocalist path.”

Which is just as well – judging from the strength of such tracks as “The Greatest Wall,” “Sea of Tranquility,” and “Introspection,” the compositions easily stand on their own. “The album has a collection of songs from about a span of two/two and a half years,” explains Sacramone. “It’s pretty diverse. Our consistency and our ability to write throughout those two years – we have been able to pursue the sound we wanted and not change due to trends or anyone’s wishing – accept our own.“

And when it comes to the Bushwhack live experience, the band holds their own – even with the absence of a bonafide frontman, points out Sacramone. “Don’t take us for not being able to put on a live show. A big part of our success is our live performance. You will never expect an instrumental band to act like a hardcore metal band jumping around the stage, with such sophisticated music. But that’s exactly what we do. Ben destroys the drum set, I have a Keytar and run around – I even jump into the crowd, do 360’s off stage! It’s got a balance of fun and intensity at the same time.”

Another factor has recently come into play for the band, as well. “We have to face the fact that we’re college students,” adds Van Dyck. “We have the decision to make – do we finish college, or is something big enough going to happen in the coming months that is going to cause us to take a year off – or even drop out?” Judging from the promise and strength of ‘Bushwhack,’ the prog metal world will benefit greatly if the members choose the latter…For more information, go to:

The album, expected for release late Spring 2008, is the band's second album with Candlelight Records. Drummer Jesse Haff reports, "drums, acoustic guitars and a solid chunk of the rhythm guitars are now completed. We feel the album is not only our most refined material to date, but also displays our most varied assortment of dark, desperate and melancholic music."

Noted for their electric and acoustic guitar work that further includes dual-vocals all witthin a passionate and heavy sonic atmosphere, the band have developed their growing fanbase via high-profile stateside tours with Lacuna Coil, Katatonia, and Moonspell. • DARK FORTRESS New album “Eidolon” out February 08; Cover artwork revealed!

German black metal outfit DARK FORTRESS strikes back with its fifth full-length album “Eidolon” (please check the exact release dates below), which marks the band’s second effort on Century Media Records. Formed in 1994, DARK FORTRESS could establish themselves in the top ranks of the genre with intense live shows and fascinating, pitch black full-length masterpieces that meet the standard created mostly in northern Europe’s prolific scenes with ease. After the release of the Century Media debut “Séance” in 2006 the band played festivals such as With Full Force, shows with Satyricon and the first shows with Celtic Frost after their many years of hibernation. V. Santura and the legendary Celtic Frost got along so well that he joined them as a live guitarist later for their extensive touring.

“Eidolon” is the band’s first effort with new vocalist Morean who is also responsible for the intricate lyrical concept. In its nine chapters the album describes the initiation, dehumanization and unearthly rebirth of a transcending soul by mirror magic and astral projection. An “Eidolon” is a Greek concept of an astral double of a living being or a “mirror”. The concept describes a magic mirror ritual as while a person is in a trance, the surface of the mirror is used as a gate to enter a new dimension. Three songs each form the album’s three chapters:

    DARK FORTRESS “Eidolon” track-listing (50:17):

The first three songs describe the calling of beings from the other dimension, seen from three different angles:

    1. The Silver Gate (6:50)
    2. Cohorror (5:37)
    3. Baphomet (6:24)

The second part is the initiation, when the astral soul is dehumanized and torn away from his earthly ties.

    4. The Unflesh (5:08)
    5. Analepsy (6:01)
    6. Edge of Night (3:57)

The third part is the rebirth „on the other side of the mirror“.

    7. No Longer Human (5:36)
    8. Catacrusis (4:34)
    9. Antiversum (7:22)

    Release Dates:

    GERMANY / AUSTRIA / SWITZERLAND / BENELUX / ITALY: Friday, February 22, 2008.
    UK / FRANCE / GREECE / DENMARK / NORWAY / REST OF EUROPE: Monday, February 25, 2008.
    SPAIN / PORTUGAL: Tuesday, February 26, 2008.
    FINLAND / SWEDEN / HUNGARY: Wednesday, February 29, 2008.

With guest vocals by Tom Gabriel Fischer from Celtic Frost on the track “Baphomet”, an excellent production providing rawness and transparency to equal parts, and a European tour with Helheim and Vulture Industries in 2008, DARK FORTRESS are well prepared to plant their black seeds in support of their stunning new album “Eidolon”.

  • MERCENARY Finish recordings of new album; band comments & announce new shows!

Danish masters of melodic & progressive metal, MERCENARY, have wrapped up the recordings for their highly anticipated successor to 2006’s “The Hours That Remain” (which was subsequently awarded the Danish Metal award in the category “Album Of The Year”). Guitarist Jakob Molberg states:

"So, the new MERCENARY album has finally been completed, mixed and mastered! It was a really laborious birth after several intense months of constant writing and rehearsing while playing sweaty gigs nearly every weekend in between (Note to self: Let's never do that again.). As we went straight into the studio with our masterly producer Jacob Hansen right after the last gig, we couldn't help but to bring along a lot of the immediacy and groove that we love when playing live. The result is in many ways our most spontaneous album ever, but I also believe it's our strongest yet - it's very melodic, catchy, dark and complex (just like any decent metalhead would - or should - want his metal to be.). With bassplayer / shouter Rene Pedersen recording his first album with us, this album marks the return of some really aggressive vocals - mixed of course with Mikkel's soaring clean singing. It's an album that's straight to the point I think, and I can't help but feel we're at the top of our game here. I never had a stronger belief in the potential of this band before.

The album title will be “Architect Of Lies” and it will be released in late March. Several killer tours and some great festivals are in the works. The year of 2008 will belong to Mercenary!

    // Jakob"

Furthermore, MERCENARY can also reveal the following new live dates

    Jan. 26, 2008 (D) Nordhausen - Bloody Sunset Festival

Feb. 07, 2008 (DK) Aalborg - Eskildsen musik
    Mar. 21, 2008 (DK) Aalborg - Studenterhuset
    Mar. 22, 2008 (DK) Århus - Voxhall
Mar. 23, 2008 (DK) Copenhagen - The Rock
July 3-9, 2008 (SLO) Metalcamp Festval

  • WARBRINGER Post New Track and Cover Art Online

Los Angeles thrashers WARBRINGER have just revamped their official MySpace page to support the release of their vicious debut offering, “War Without End”, which is set for a February 25th 2008 release through Century Media Records. Head over to www.myspace.com/warbringer now to stream the new track, “Dread Command,” and to view the album’s striking cover art by acclaimed artist Dez Ambrose Root.

“War Without End”, recorded by legendary thrash producer Bill Metoyer (Slayer, Dark Angel, D.R.I.), is shaping up to be one of the most talked about debuts to come along in years and is destined to add another glorious chapter to thrash metal’s illustrious history.

WARBRINGER also just completed their first promotional video for the track, “Combat Shock,” with renowned director Dan Dobi (Cannibal Corpse). The video is a brutally intense performance based clip that perfectly showcases the band’s unrelenting live energy. Look for it to make its debut online early next year.

While WARBRINGER has built a rabid local fan base playing with others in the LA thrash revival scene, they’re set to join Exodus, Goatwhore and Arsis on a tour through the USA in January. Never before has the evil, no-holds barred sound of Baloff-era Exodus, Slayer’s Hell Awaits, and Kreator’s Pleasure to Kill been revived and revitalized for the 21st century in such a strikingly inspired and pure fashion.

Regain has launched a special Dismember MySpace page featuring a streaming version of one track, "Europa Burns," from the Swedish death metal masters' upcoming self-titled eight album which will be released February 18, 2008. Get your first impression via: www.myspace.com/dismemberpromo. This page will feature a huge competition soon, so re-check it from time to time. As long as Dismember live, death metal will reign!

We are really proud to announce that Stockholm based Machinery has inked a deal with Regain. The new album entitled The Passing can be described as an intense journey in epic and diverse metal – and album with great songs and an unique style that converges on death, black, thrash and classic metal styles! A perfect blend of what should truly appeal to every metalhead! The album is going to be released via Regain Records in early 2008.
