TRENTON , N.J. - Mortiis has been busy writing and recording new material for a new album, to be released 2007.

“The music so far is pretty varied,” said frontman and band namesake Mortiis. “There’s a bunch of really heavy stuff in there, probably the hardest stuff we’ve done so far, really guitar driven shit. Then there’s some really ambient sounding stuff, very drone-y and atmospheric, as well as some more electronic sounding songs too.”

Mortiis notes that the songs are still in various stages of completion, leaving them open to many shifts and changes before the follow-up to “The Grudge” is recorded.

“It sounds really interesting right now,” Mortiis said. “Some old vibes came back to us on some of the songs, some ‘Smell of Rain’ vibes and some ‘Grudge’ vibes and some new vibes. It’s all totally dysfunctional and fucked up in one way or another. Diseased or hurt minds never really heal up, I guess, and because of that, all in all it’s going to be a really hard, attacking kind of album with the moody stuff in between.”

Some of the working titles are: “Zeitgeist,” “Great Deceiver,” “The Ugly Truth,” “Looking Glass,” “Doppelganger,” “Sins of Mine,” “Scolding the Burnt,” “Live Forever,” and “Road to Ruin.”

Mortiis also recently completed remixes for Zombie Girl and Dope Stars’ upcoming releases.

  • THE HIDDEN HAND announce new album, drummer and upcoming tour
Southern Lord recording artists The Hidden Hand have put the finishing touches on their next epic masterpiece entitled "The Resurrection Of Whiskey Foote." “Resurrection”…is the 3rd Hidden Hand full-length (2nd from Southern Lord) and features the lineup that recorded the now sold out/out of print EP from last years: “Devoid Of Color” EP, comprised of Scott WINO Weinrich [Guitars, Vocals], Bruce Falkinburg [Bass] and Evan Tanner [Drums].
ROWF is not necessarily a concept album but it is heavily layered with historical story-based lyricism and themse. Musically there is a subtle southern or classic rock vibe (ala killer slide playing from Wino and even some Harp by Michael Anthony Miller) that creeps into the foundation of their brand of dark, heavy, progressive rock.
The album will be released on CD and LP worldwide in February 2007.
Shortly after the album was finished Evan Tanner left the band and was replaced by Matt Moulis (Medic, Bison). With this new lineup, the Hidden Hand will hit the road with Kylesa in the USA late Jan. thru Feb. A European tour is being planned for April.
  • EMPYRIUM - A Retrospective...

new release date: EMPYRIUM "A Retrospective..." to be released 08.12.2006

As the title suggests, "A Retrospective ..." is a look back on the work of Empyrium. Aside from re-mastered songs from all four studio albums, the CD contains two unreleased new tracks, "Der Weiher" and "Am Wolkenstieg", as well as a newly arranged and recorded version of "The Franconian Woods In Winter's Silence" (originally off "A Wintersunset...").

The CD will be released as a lavishly designed, gold-embossed Digibook. Many fans will be particularly interested in the in-depth band biography contained in the sixty-pages booklet of "A Retrospective ...". This text takes a closer look at the history of the band and all its influences music- and content-wise, and it will make transparent the whole artistic aspect of Empyrium and its changes in the course of years. Thus, it will contribute to a substantially deeper understanding of Empyrium.

In tandem with the regular release of "A Retrospective...", there will be a six-CD box encompassing the complete works of Empyrium, including the demo "...der wie ein Blitz vom Himmel fiel..." and "A Retrospective...", in an elegant and identical Digibook design. Strictly limited to 500 copies. In addition to this, there will be re-issues of all previous albums in Digibook form, also limited to 500 copies each.

  • SHADOW DEMON scorching souls with Grimoire of Ruin
The music of Shadow Demon combines a neck-wrenching rhythm assault with aggressive, melodic vocals resulting in an intense power thrash metal onslaught.

Shadow Demon formed in early 2002, bringing together guitarist Jeff Helm and vocalist Blaine Hammond. After working with other area musicians, bassist James Rinker was brought into the fold. The band released their debut three-song EP in December of 2003. The most recent additions to the band are drummer Jay Davidson (2005) and lead guitarist Ryan Gallagher (2006).

Most recently Shadow Demon released their first full-length album entitled 'Grimoire of Ruin' on their own label Darkhaven Records. With outstanding response from the underground metal community via their live shows opening for national acts like Kamelot and Epica, and with a whole local scene behind them full-tilt, the band have big plans for the future and are thirsty to get their metal out to the masses.
Check out the site links and if you're drawn in by the thrash riffage that assaults ya' ass.

"Hints of Savatage... Testament, and Iced Earth abound here, as the band combines powerful vocals, crushing guitar riffs, forceful rhythms, and a menacing yet melodic attitude." 3.5/5 - Sea of Tranquility
"These guys have effectively taken the groundwork laid down by bands of yore such as Hallows Eve, Omen, and Savage Grace, thrown in a heaping spoonful of early 90’s era Iced Earth, and finished things off with a fine glaze of Pharaoh, resulting in a band that creates a very high caliber of modern power/thrash metal." - MetalReview
"...not having any ‘wimpy’ songs on their first full length might gain them some of the more close mined fans of the metal community..." - Rock My Monkey
"Judged not as a 'local band’s album' but as a legitimate release, this stands up as one of the best albums released this year." - Doomsday Music
"I was expecting very little from this, and I’m fucking blown away. This is an album that is sure to put the band on the map." 5/5 - Unbound zine

  • FU MANCHU - titles new album “We Must Obey”!

Orange County fuzz-rock quartet FU MANCHU have set “We Must Obey” as the title of their 10th studio album, which will be released on February 19, 2007 via Century Media Records. The complete track listing is as follows:

    1. We Must Obey
    2. Knew It All Along
    3. Let Me Out
    4. Hung Out To Dry
    5. Shake It Loose
    6. Land Of Giants
    7. Between The Lines
    8. Lesson
    9. Moving In Stereo
    10. Didn't Really Try
    11. Sensei vs. Sensei

Co-produced by the band members themselves, “We Must Obey” was recorded at Hollywood’s Grandmaster Recorders (Tool, Nine Inch Nails, The Black Crowes), while finishing touches were added at Oasis Mastering by Gene Grimaldi (Velvet Revolver, Pennywise, Rev. Horton Heat).

“The title “We Must Obey” is a big ‘Fuck you’ to people who like to tell us what we can and can't do,” says founding guitarist/vocalist Scott Hill. “It's not specifically directed at any one person, just at the thought of someone thinking that they know what's best for you, more than you knowing what's best for you. That theme runs through the entire record.”

“It's a pissed-off sounding record,” Hill continues. “There are a few ‘quiet’ moments, but those are rare. I grew up on hardcore – punk rock bands from ‘80 to ‘85 – so I definitely think those influences are showing up a little more. There are some straightforward rock riffs on there as well. Overall, it's a very full, heavy and fuzzy-sounding record."

In the spirit of such classic FU covers as Blue Oyster Cult’s “Godzilla” and Devo’s “Freedom of Choice”, the album sees the band tackle The Cars’ “Moving In Stereo”, a well-known track from that group’s multi-platinum 1978 debut.

The new song “Hung Out To Dry” can currently be heard at the band’s MySpace page, so go to www.myspace.com/fumanchu to get yourself your daily dose of rock!

  • HIMSA Sign Worldwide Deal With Century Media Records!

Century Media is extremely proud to welcome HIMSA to its worldwide family. The Seattle-based metal quintet’s ferocious blend of melodic, unrelenting thrash speed mixed with old-school influences resulted in a savage, unique and uncompromising sound that was welcome, refreshing and undeniable. The group continued to carve out their own unique niche in the scene through relentless touring alongside a wide variety of artists from Danzig and Behemoth to As I Lay Dying and Shadows Fall, helping them win over legions of fans worldwide.

HIMSA further describe their feelings over the new partnership: “We are very excited, thrilled and honored to be asked to join the Century Media army. All of us are huge fans and supporters of the label and have always admired CM's continuous drive for releasing great and memorable albums throughout the years. The relationships that have grown and prospered between CM and other bands on their roster shows the honesty, loyalty and sincerity they have as a family. We feel it is the best move for us as individuals and as a band. With Sammi Curr (guitars) rejoining HIMSA and writing new material with Kirby Johnson (guitars), our integrity and passion are at an all-time high with this next step. As soon as the new album is recorded, we will be back on the road destroying your towns.”

HIMSA’s debut full-length, “Courting Tragedy and Disaster” (2003), was hailed by Revolver magazine as “a manic 11-song effort that's as speedy and raw as it is technical and melodic,” earning the band a highlight as one of 10 bands labeled as the “future of metal.” However, it was 2006’s “Hail Horror” that began to show what this band was truly capable of, as they let their brutal catchiness naturally coexist alongside musical complexity. The album, produced by the renowned Tue Maden (The Haunted, Mnemic), perfected the formula that has allowed the band to continue building their own niche in the current metal scene and gaining attention from MTV, FUSE, Revolver, Guitar World, Outburn, Kerrang!, Metal Hammer and countless other outlets.

In other news, HIMSA have been added to the Century Family’s Third Annual Christmas Balls show, which takes place Wednesday, Dec. 13th at The Key Club in Hollywood, CA (USA). The event will also feature the LA based quintet In This Moment and will be headlined by Sweden’s Dream Evil, who will be making their American debut and only U.S. appearance of 2006.

In 2007, HIMSA are destined to leave their definitive mark on the genre.

To all of those who don't yet know, Pierre has gone back to Montréal and is no longer playing with the band. He wants to pursue a more secure lifestyle and we all wish him the best of luck with it. Pierre is most definitely the finest drummer any of us has ever played with. In regards to leaving the band, Langlois had this to say...
"My trip with Black Dahlia Murder as come to an end. Thanks to everyone who supported me during the last year, I had the best time of my life! And thanks to the coolest dudes BRIAN, JOHN, BART, TREVOR, CHOWDAH and WOODY, I’ll miss you assholes!!!"
So here we are again on the hunt for a drummer… fun fun fun!!!  We need someone dedicated; who knows for sure that the touring life is for them, and we need them as soon as possible.  Relocation is a must, but not necessary immediately.  We have an album to finish writing and many tours to go on.  Fear not my children, the BDM will ride again.
Email us at [email protected] if you would like to audition.
  • IMPIOUS announces track listing and album art for new record!

Swedish Powerhouse Impious has finished recordings for their forthcoming new album “Holy Murder Masquerade”!
“The album was mainly recorded at my own ‘Studio Deadline’”, comments guitarist Valle Adzic. “Only drums were recorded at Studio Mega. Simply because when it was time for recording the drums, my studio wasn’t quite finished.”
The new album is different to its predecessor. “We had one goal: To make the songs more simple and memorable. We wanted more songs that people can easily sing along with on concerts. When we were done with the album, we realized we had a little bit more melodies than before, and the average tempo was a bit slower. But it still sounds like Impious… just a little bit more Impious than before.”
“Holy Murder Masquerade” is a concept album, a real bloody one indeed. “We hired this Italian guy Andrea Cavaletto who does horror comics for a living. The whole booklet is made like a comic book, with the lyrics inserted in those speech balloons just like in an ordinary comic book. We also hired professional voice actors to bring life to the characters. The story is about this guy, Trent, who is a true servant of God; at least according to his own sick mind. He’s soon to complete his work and the listener/reader gets to follow him as he arrives at his final destination. There are a lot of deaths, violence, blood, etc... It’s a brutal story indeed.”
“I actually came up with the comic idea after reading a review where it said the music was very good, but not original. That got me thinking… I didn’t want to change our music, so what was there more to change? Well, the lyrical part! And from that moment everything just came to me. Why not make a concept album where the listener can follow the whole story both sonically, lyrically and even visually?? So we did! It took us thousands and thousands hours of work, but we did it! This way you get a whole new experience, and you definitely miss out on very much if you just download the album on the internet.”
“When we recorded the title track “Holy Murder Masquerade” we felt that the song needed some screaming vocals. So we contacted long time friend Thomas Backelin from Lord Belial, and he was happy to do it.”
The cover was done by Justin Kamerer who has done work for bands like Slayer, Slipknot, Mudvayne, Black Sabbath, and more.
    Track listing:
    1. The Confession
    2. Bound To Bleed (For a Sacred Need)
    3. T.P.S.
    4. Bloodcraft
    5. Holy Murder Masquerade
    6. Death on Floor 44

-Heavy Metal consumers, musicians and businesses will gather again in Helsinki, Finland during 16.-17.2.2007
-Live-performances by Amon Amarth (SWE), Brother Firetribe, Moonsorrow, Suburban Tribe,
    Coldworker (SWE), Insomnium and more
-Finnish Metal Awards Gala on Friday the 16th of February
    Helsinki, Kaapelitehdas (Cable Factory), 16.-17.2.2007
A lot has happened since the first Finnish Metal Expo in January 2005. Finnish metal has really gone where no one ever thought it would go, both domestically and internationally. Top of the charts, gold records and headline tours. Hell, we even won the Eurovision Song Contest. Well, that’s almost metal.
The third annual Finnish Metal Expo once again offers insight to the current state of Finnish metal music. The two previous years have proved that there is great interest towards such an event. The location of Cable Factory has been filled to the rim with metal enthusiasts, with about 5000 visitors attending each year seeking out the latest in band, media, event and merchandise offerings.
The dates for the 2007 event are set to be February 16th and 17th. A new addition for this year’s event is a room reserved solely for the purpose of instrument clinics. The clinics frequented by the contemporary axemen and batterists have been hugely popular, therefore we have added a second clinic stage to meet the demand. Again, there are more than 50 exhibitors showcasing their latest and all exhibition stands have been reserved. List of exhibitors can be viewed at www.fme.fi.
A crucial part of the Finnish Metal Expo are of course the live shows, this time provided by the likes of Amon Amarth (SWE), Brother Firetribe, Suburban Tribe, Moonsorrow, Turmion Kätilöt, Insomnium, Misery Inc., Before The Dawn, Cyan Velvet Project, Tacere and April. There are several more artists to be added to the bill. A large number of musicians will also be showcasing their talent and equipment on the two clinic stages.
On Friday the 16th of February, the Finnish metal media will award their favorites as well as the crowd pleasers at the Finnish Metal Awards. A comprehensive jury consisting of the most relevant and influential metal medias in the country, has chosen nominees for six categories of which the fans will vote the winners.
Finnish Metal Expo is a consumer expo, which has been appropriately dubbed “the long-hair-disneyland”. At the same time, it gathers the metal industry people from Finland and abroad. International Metal Meeting, the professional meeting within the Finnish Metal Expo, has established itself as a major annual get-together for the metal music industry.
But besides and in addition to all this, Finnish Metal Expo is first and foremost a good party, a place to let your hair hang down.
Finnish Metal Expo will take a headstart on Thursday Feb 15 at Tavastia-Club when Tarot takes the stage. Marko Hietala & co. is supported by up-and-coming 80’s metallers, Leverage. Advance tickets at www.tiketti.fi, 12 euros each.
See the latest updates at www.fme.fi
Tickets for Finnish Metal Expo are now on sale through Tiketti (www.tiketti.fi) and Lippupalvelu (www.lippupalvelu.fi). We sell one day tickets only, 20 euros each for Friday and 22 euros each for Saturday. FME is an all-ages event with bars to those over 18 and feeling the urge for such services.

  • DIMMU BORGIR album title revealed!

Finally the long-awaited album title for the upcoming DIMMU BORGIR opus has been revealed by guitarist Silenoz: "After what we can call a pretty mellow and relaxed mixing session (at least from a dimmucratic point of view), 'In Sorte Diaboli' is now mixed and ready for mastering! Ooops…happened to mention the album title there. Anyways, mastering duties will be done pretty soon courtesy of Russ Russell at an undisclosed location in the U.K."

'In Sorte Diaboli' will be a concept album with a story located in Medieval Europe. "There's this dude that works as a priest's assistant, and after a while he just discovers that he has nothing to do with Christianity. He just sort of has this awakening and realizes that he has different abilities and different powers and is leaning more to the dark side," explains Silenoz the not exactly Christianity-friendly story concept.

  • Daymares sign with Selfmadegod Records!

Warsaw-based newborn hardcore / death'n'roll kingpins have entered into cooperation with Selfmadegod Records on the first days of September. As a result of the agreement, the newfangled four-piece will soon begin recording their debut full-length album for an early 2007 release. Followers of both hardcore / punk rock and death'n'roll of Entombed fame cannot afford to miss it.

"We are extremely happy with a possibility to release our debut album on Selfmadegod Records" comments the band. Karol (owner) seems to be really into what we are doing, and the label is definitely most thriving company and HC / punk distributor in the country, hence there was not a matter of debate to start the cooperation."

"We are very proud of the fact that such band as Daymares has found its place under protective wings of Selfmadegod Records. This is undoubtedly one of the most promising new groups on the hardcore / metal scene. We are eagerly looking forward to debut album, which will certainly appeal to many fans" predicts labels owner Karol Pienko.

Daymares has been around for not much more than 7 months. It started when Arek, Pat and Marcin started to jam together in late winter of 2006 to create the monster that they had thought about doing for a long time. The idea behind the band was to bridge heavy HC, death'n'roll and punk rock. The heaviness and brutality, the anger, the fury, the intensity, and the passion for underground ethics, combined with outspoken lyrical content.

Soon, they teamed up with Grzesiek who is, by the way, Marcin's twin brother. He dug the vibe of the band like nobody else and from then on things went really fast. Practicing like crazy all spring they managed to record "Darkness" for an Integrity tribute album on Escapist Artist, then soon after they entered the Serakos Studio to record a 5-track demo, as they did, the summer was upon them. The songs can be found at http://myspace.com/yourdaymares.

"We are currently in the midst of writing for what will become our debut album, most likely to complete it by the end of November in order to focus on details later on" specify the band. Daymares are busy writing more songs in order to start playing shows and record a full-length album soon. The as-yet-untitled record is scheduled to be out early 2007.

LISTENABLE RECORDS are proud to welcome Swiss noisemongers KRUGER.

Translation Loss Records is extremely overjoyed to announce the signing of our first overseas artist, Ireland's very own singer/songwriter, DECLAN DE BARRA. DECLAN, who has been working as an independent musician since the age of 18, has previously released records and toured the world with his former outfits "Non Intentional Lifeform" and "Clann Zu." His first band "NIL" was released through Roadrunner Records and "Clann Zu" had a number of successful releases released through the politically charged Canadian label G7 Welcoming Committee, home to writers Noam Chomsky and Howard Zinn as well as the highly praised "International Noise Consiracy."

Song of a Thousand Birds, his Translation Loss Records debut solo record, features some of the best in Irish contemporary musicians including 3 songs that feature contributions by his former Clann Zu band mates. DECLAN (vocals, electric & acoustic guitar & percussion) moves easily between delicate pop songs and grand orchestrated reflections, bringing to mind many of rock's late greats while maintaining his own fresh and original sound. Expect an early 2007 release.

You can hear select tracks from Declan de Barra's stunning debut "Song Of A Thousand Birds" here:

You can also catch a live performance of the song "Throw your arms around me" from "Song Of A Thousand Birds" here:

  • HELL WITHIN album details and new drummer

As previously reported HELL WITHIN just recently lost their long time drummer Brian "Bubba" Joyce and filled his position with former TRAUMA CONCEPT drummer Derek Jay. Now the band is back again to reveal some details about the follow up to the band's 2004 Lifeforce Records debut "Asylum Of The Human Predator."

The title of HELL WITHIN's second, scheduled for an early 2007 album will be "Shadows Of Vanity."

HELL WITHIN guitarist Tony Zimmermann checks in:

"For the past 7 months we've been busy writing and getting the new Hell Within album ready to record. Finally at the end of this month we will enter Prism Sound Studios in Acton, Ma to start tracking the album under the direction of John Ellis. This will take us about 3 weeks and then the masters are off to Audio Hammer Studios in Orlando FL for Jason Suecoff to mix the album. We're very excited about working with these engineers and can't wait to get started. I will tell you the material is sick. In most areas the riffs are so bone crushing that they will send you into a frenzy, but then the songs have their tasteful melodic elements that will bring you back to earth and leave you begging for more. The songs are rock'n in some areas and then face shredding in others. More or less it has the signature Hell Within sound but put 2 years of touring and 2 more years of experience under our belts and you will have the new Hell Within album entitled "Shadows Of Vanity."

Further information and updates you can find at:
  • FLESHGORE new track is on line!!!

“Tequila” fits excellently to Black Label Society, COC, Black Sabbath, 90’s Metallica and of course a beer case, or better five of them…

  • BYZANTINE To Hit The Studio; Take A Break To Tour With GOD FORBID

West Virginia's forward-thinking metal band BYZANTINE will tentatively enter the studio December 8 to record the follow-up to 2005's '...And They Shall Take Up Serpents' before taking a break from the recording process to support God Forbid for two weeks on a tour package also boasting Goatwhore, Mnemic and Arsis. Upon completion of the tour, BYZANTINE will return to the studio to finish recording. Production this time around will again be handled by Aaron Fisher and BYZANTINE for the yet-untitled full-length, due for a 2007 release through Prosthetic Records.
"We have so far 11 songs in the bag and most likely will have 15 penned by the time pre-production starts," vocalist/guitarist OJ Ojeda previously stated. "Normally we write 10 and use 10, but riffs are flowing like mad and all four of us are writing material this time, which has been very interesting. All I can say is if this album doesn't kick our first two albums' asses, something is wrong! Some songs are pure thrash, some songs are off time as hell and some songs are depressing and dark. This album WILL be our finest effort."
In other news, Byzantine will appear on the upcoming EyeHateGod tribute record, 'For The Sick: A Tribute to Eyehategod,' performing the track "Shoplift." The record is currently slated for a Feb. 20 release through Season Mist America.

  • ICED EARTH Returns With Alive In Athens DVD; New Trailer Online
ICED EARTH has returned with Alive In Athens - The DVD, which hit stores last week. Their first and only live album, Alive In Athens, was recorded at two sold-out shows on the nights of January 23rd and January 24th, 1999, at the Rodon Club in Athens, Greece. Originally released as a triple CD set in summer 1999, Alive In Athens entered the German charts on #55 and stayed two weeks at #1 in Greece, where it was quickly certified Gold, a feat previously thought unattainable. Click the link below to check out a trailer for this phenomenal DVD.

Seven years after the release of Alive In Athens, a discovery was made when raw footage of the live show itself was discovered in a discontinued archive, and out of curiosity alone the footage was immediately converted to a modern tape format and examined. Although only three cameras were present at the show, the energy and atmosphere of the material was overwhelming, and only three of the 31 live songs ("Slave to the Dark", "A Question of Heaven" and "Iced Earth") were absent or unusable due to videotape changes of the camera team. Not having known that camera footage existed from such a legendary concert, the decision was made to share the material with the world in the form of Alive In Athens - The DVD.
The audio files have been re-mastered for 5.1 DTS surround sound to offer the best quality live feeling. While not as slick as the modern 16-camera, quick-cut DVD releases found today, the fact that fans can now share the visual experience of being at the show is one that will surely be rejoiced. Some backstage footage and a Jon Schaffer interview with the German music channel VIVA TV were also unearthed and added as part of this historical performance, leaving it without the standard bells and whistles but nonetheless delivering more than 2 1/2 hours of the best metal ever recorded live.

  • QUIET RIOT To Release New Album On November 22nd!

Founded in 1975 by Randy Rhodes, Quiet Riot are recognised as contributing to the success of the 1980's Glam Metal scene.  Their album "Metal Health" was the first American heavy metal to reach number 1 on the Billboard charts in the USA.  Quiet Riot knocked The Police's "Synchronicity from the top spot and helped pave the way for more heavy metal albums to gain the commercial success they deserved.  At the same time, they had another first & the first time that a heavy metal band made the Top 5 in the US pop charts.  Their cover of Slades' "Cum On Feel The Noize spent 2 weeks at number 5.
The new album, "Rehab", was recorded by Kevin DuBrow (vocals), and Frankie Banali (drums), joined by Tony Franklin on Bass, and Neil Citron on the guitar.  They are also joined by the voice of rock, Glenn Hughes, who guests on the Spooky Tooth cover "Evil Woman (both as part of the vocal duet, and on bass).  Since the recording, both Alex Grossi (guitar) and Chuck Wright (bass) have rejoined the band, and this is the line up that is going to be touring worldwide in support of the album.

  • SLAYER Announces Winter 2007 Headline Tour; UNEARTH Special Guest On All Dates

Los Angeles, CA - SLAYER - Tom Araya/bass, vocals, Kerry King/guitars, Jeff Hanneman/guitars, and Dave Lombardo/drums - the pioneers and undisputed kings of extreme speed/thrash metal - will hit the road on January 24 for a four-week North American tour. The dates are in support of the band's latest album, "Christ Illusion" (August 8, American Recordings) the band's first new studio album since 1990's "Seasons In The Abyss," and its highest-charting album ever (#5 on Billboard's Top 200 Albums Chart). Unearth will open all shows.

"Over the past few months, we've had a great time headlining 'Unholy Alliance' in North America and Europe, bringing a killer five-act bill to the fans," said Slayer's King. "But we're looking forward to this next tour, where it's just Slayer and Unearth, playing venues where we can be right in the fans' faces."

These North American dates come on the heels of Slayer's uber-successful international tour which, between August and November, took the band to SRO shows in the UK, Brazil, Chile, Argentina, Colombia, Venezuela, Mexico, Singapore, Japan, Holland, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Belgium, Finland, Denmark and Sweden. While in Germany, the band paid a special visit to the U.S. Troops of the 52nd Services Squadron located on the Spangdahlem U.S. Air Force Base.

"Christ Illusion" is Slayer's first new studio album in five years, and the first recorded by the original line-up in more than 15 years. The album, which deals with the brutality of war and religious fanaticism and scrutinizes America's role in Iraq and Afghanistan, prompted one media outlet to hail it "...this year's most political album since Neil Young's 'Living with War.'" Overall, the album has received raves: Transworld's Surf called it "one of the band's finest albums to date, ranking right up there with 'Reign In Blood'...", The New York Times wrote that the CD is "the most concentrated, focused Slayer record in 20 years," and Penthouse said, "Slayer has created an album so fast, so loud, and so good that you might think you've sold your soul."

TRENTON, NJ- The ever-busy Danish guitarist Torben Enevoldsen has released a melodic hard rock album under the name Fatal Force, which is now available in the US on Locomotive Records, licensed through MTM Music.

After the completion of the second album by his vocal project, Section A, and his third instrumental album, “Flying Solo,” Enevoldsen began writing new material.

“My goal was to make a very melodic and straight-forward hard rock album,” said Enevoldsen. ‘I wanted to pay more attention to the melody, and basically get to the point of each song, rather than doing fancy and elaborate arrangements.”

Enevoldsen had Mats Levén (At Vance, Therion, Yngwie Malmsteen) in mind for the vocals on the album and Daniel Flores XsavioR and Mind’s Eye) for the drum position.

“I really love Mats’ voice,” said Enevoldsen. “He has such a natural rasp and there seems to be no limit to his vocal abilities. I had heard Daniel play on various projects and really liked his approach to drumming. He has got great swing and is able to keep rock hard timing.”

Enevoldsen started recording rough tracks in his Denmark home studio, The Lab, and then sent them to Mats and Daniel. They recorded their parts in Stockholm and returned the demos to Enevoldsen, who recorded all of the guitar, bass, and keyboard tracks at The Lab.

Tommy Hansen, who has worked with bands such as Helloween, TNT, and Pretty Maids, mixed and mastered the record at Jailhouse Studios.

“It was great working with an experienced guy like Tommy and I definitely picked up a few pointers a long the way,” Enevoldsen said

  • JAG PANZER Frontman Lays Down Vocals For BATTLE CRY EP

Colorado-based power metallers BATTLE CRY have finished recording a song called "The Battle Cry of Freedom" with a special guest appearance by JAG PANZER's Harry "The Tyrant" Conklin.

Commented the band: "We have finished 'The Battle Cry of Freedom', which is a very cool civil war song that we 'metalized' with Harry Conklin as guest vocalist.

"Working with Harry was an awesome experience, and we're very proud of the outcome. Harry has also agreed to do some Gregorian-style chants for our epic 'The Inquisition', which I am sure will also be remarkable.

"I know we said we were shooting for a Halloween time-frame for the [upcoming self-titled debut EP], but that obviously has slipped, so now we're looking at a Christmas/New Year's release. Also, we haven't been able to work out a schedule with Mike Pittman from DISTANT WARNING. Unfortunately, we have to move forward with getting this done, so Tristen Madrid will be the only drummer appearing on this project. We hope to work with Mike in the future."

Four of the original members of Internal Bleeding -- Frank Rini, Chris Pervelis, Brian Hobbie and Bill Tolley -- have gotten together to form a new, as of yet unamed project. This band will be available for limited weekend shows starting in early 2007, provided they have plenty of lead time due to the busy careers of each musician. The music will be in the classic Internal Bleeding vien--straight up, pure heaviness, slam and no-nonsense riffing. A release will be coming in the mid-summer of 2007.

  • Íon "Madre, Protégenos" out November 27 on Equilibrium Music

    for info/mp3: www.equilibriummusic.com

    [ EQM009 ]
    Íon (Ireland)
    "Madre, Protégenos"
    Digipak CD 2006, Equilibrium Music

Named after the Gaelic word for 'pure', Íon seems to illude strict categorization, and even the apparently all-encompassing definition of World Music falls short in defining the ethereal moods that "Madre, Protégenos" comes to reveal.

Duncan Patterson's career traces back to the early 90's, when he began his musical incursions as a member of Anathema, a group that would pioneer and remain as forerunners of the unique Doom Metal genre throughout that decade.

Patterson would later also become involved with Antimatter, a project which would find him developing his long-standing talent for emotional and atmospheric song-writing into new formats, and which he quit in late 2004 as the early sketches of what would later grow into Íon were drafted.

One can arguably class Íon as Patterson's most personal creation to date - a creation which he has fathered on his own, and one through which he taps deeper into his spiritual identity and heritage. This musical entity which Patterson has named after the Gaelic word for 'pure' - a word which accurately pins down the project's mindset - seems to elude strict categorization, and even the apparently all-encompassing definition of World Music falls short in defining the ethereal moods that "Madre, Protégenos", Íon's debut album, comes to reveal.

Though fairly minimalist in its overall approach, the album's true wealth stems from its various layered soundscapes and the introspective ambiance that they recreate. These provide the lighter toned and dreamier elements of the album with an ominous and melancholic shade - much like a sense of hopeful longing for piece of mind haunted by memories and nostalgia. Having Irish mysticism and an exotic Mediterranean backdrop as its essential cornerstones, the project has slowly evolved into an international venture, stretching over continents and oceans. "Madre, Protégenos" collects a rich array of influences that come to shape into a unique multi-textured body of work, based around smooth acoustic instrumentation (where acoustic guitar and various percussions take a leading role, alongside occasional harp, flute or viola arrangements), discreet keyboard elements, and remarkable voices.

The patterns that fuse into "Madre, Protégenos" come not only from the varied instrumentation that musicians from Greece, Ireland, Mexico or Australia have added to the recordings. The album's unique diversity is equally produced by several female singers from Italy, Greece and Mexico who contributed to the album. Their appearances come to add pieces of each of their country's colours and dialects to the blissful lead interpretation of Russian muse Emily Saaen, in an eclectic musical quest which feeds not only on each of its characters ethnic heritage, but especially on their own spiritual recollections and experiences.

    Official sites:

It's finally about time for an update about what is happening in the world of Malevolent Creation!!! The band has completed the writing and pre production demo's for 13 song's and will begin the recording of they're 10th full length album "DOOMSDAY X" in the coming weeks of November. We're very happy with the direction the music has taken for this new album with song writing credit's by each of the band members, and each song having it's own identity but retaining the classic Malevolent Creation sound. It is truly amazing to have everyone writing for this album and bring's a lot of new idea's to the song's.Fear not, each song is extremely brutal and covers a lot of territory as far as extreme metal is concerned. The album's recording and touring line up is:

    Jon Rubin - guitars
    Phil Fasciana - guitars
    Dave Culross - drums
    Jason Blachowicz - bass
    Brett Hoffmann - vocals
WE have definitely had some huge obstacles to overcome to get this album written, but we are finally satisfied with all the music and are anxious to start recording.
Touring starts in Europe with "The Domination Tour 2007"

U.S. Tour Dates Will Soon Follow !!!!!

In a ride that traveled throughout twelve states and saw speeds of up to 135 miles per hour, Queensryche singer Geoff Tate and guitarist Mike Stone rode over 2000 miles on their custom Buell Ulysses bikes for the VH1 Save The Music Foundation. The Rock and Ride Across America occurred at various locations during their current tour with thousands of fans joining Tate and Stone along the way. Those who donated to the cause got a chance to ride with the pack. After the performances in their hometown of Seattle, Queensryche auctioned off both custom Buell motorcycles to the highest bidders. Sure, they squashed a few bugs along the way but the donation was true "road kill" as the band and their fans raised over $80,000 for the Foundation. According to Geoff Tate, "Everyone in the band got their musical start from school music programs. If we hadn't had those opportunities, we wouldn't be where we are today. I felt really lucky to be involved in such a fun set of events for such a worthy cause." "We are so thankful to Queensryche for their support and generosity," said Paul Cothran, Executive Director, the VH1 Save The Music Foundation. "Their support will ensure that hundreds of public school students receive the benefits of music education."

Queensryche will be on the road -- in support of Operation: Mindcrime II on
Rhino Records -- until early December.

Since it was established in 1997, the VH1 Save The Music Foundation has donated $34 million worth of new musical instruments to 1,400 public schools in 80 cities, improving the lives of more than 800,000 children.
