  • Century Media announces worldwide partnership with Roadrunner Records to release new DAATH Album; new track online!

Century Media Records is proud to announce a worldwide partnership with Roadrunner Records to release DÅÅTH’s new opus, “The Concealers”, on April 20th (Europe) / April 21st (US), promising a straight shot of pure, unfiltered extreme metal at its very best!

The Atlanta based quintet certainly set out with a mission to truly separate themselves from the rest when recording their much anticipated new album. The dueling guitar virtuosity of Emil Werstler and Eyal Levi harkens many comparisons to Mustaine and Friedman, all the while the acclaimed Kevin Talley (ex-Chimaira, ex-Dying Fetus, ex Misery Index) pounds away with fury and precision and bassist Jeremy Creamer provides a powerful groove. The band’s current line-up is completed by new singer Sean Z who performs an extraordinary job on “The Concealers”.

The album was produced and mixed by Jason Suecof and Mark Lewis (Trivium, All That Remains, Devildriver) and to allow you a glimpse at DÅÅTH’s unparalleled musicianship and vicious impact the brand-new track “Sharpen the Blades” can now be heard at www.myspace.com/daath!

Werstler comments: “We mutually agreed that CM would be much more appropriate for the band at this stage, but that nobody felt like it was time to end the relationship with Roadrunner, so we worked out a deal where Roadrunner still makes our records, but CM works them.”

DÅÅTH shot to the forefront of the metal world with the 2007 release of “The Hinderers”. The band built a worldwide following by touring with the likes of Job For A Cowboy, Devildriver, Unearth, Despised Icon and others while also taking part in the 2007 edition of Ozzfest. After this wrapped and the band underwent some healthy lineup changes, DÅÅTH entered the studio more focused than ever before to begin work on their sophomore album.

DÅÅTH is the brain child of Levi and features amongst its ranks some of the best all around musicians in today’s heavy music scene. Werstler is one of the most heralded up-and-coming guitarists today, see him shred: www.youtube.com/watch?v=fXfO6Ob8Vv0. The band also enlisted the full-time duties of drummer Kevin Talley (ex- Chimaira, Dying Fetus, Misery Index,), who is renowned for his technical proficiency, speed and strong attack (www.youtube.com/watch?v=uIan2JgVrZg).

Talley comments: “It's amazing that Roadrunner and Century Media are collaborating for the release of our upcoming album because I have been friends with both labels for so many years. My experience with Century Media dates back to my DYING FETUS and MISERY INDEX days when I would stop by their office and raid the CD warehouse for killer music. I was even wearing a Century Media shirt during my SLAYER audition. Overall, I am stoked because these labels are not only my friends, but they are great labels and I am honored to have their names on the upcoming release.”

Levi further states: “I’m not going to waste your time or insult your intelligence with a plethora of metal words and brutal adjectives about our new album. I’ll just say this: In my opinion this is the first true DÅÅTH record. I think it’s amazing. Any preconceived notions you may have about our band will be destroyed. We came together on this like one five headed, pissed off beast that’s out for blood. Everyone’s strengths shine like never before. It’s the best I’ve ever written and played and it’s the best I’ve ever heard my band mates write and play. Call me cocky if you will, but check out the record and if you disagree feel free to write me on our MySpace and call me a prick. Otherwise I hope you enjoy the hell out of it and look forward to seeing you on the road!”

  • Repulsion: UK exclusive at Deathfest!

Grindcore pioneers REPULSION will mark their first ever UK show with an exclusive performance at DEATHFEST.

The American legends will end a 25-year wait when they touch down in Leeds for what is destined to be an historic show at Leeds University Union - taking the stage alongside the likes of Vader, Origin, Akercocke and Benediction at the country's finest new extreme metal event.

Rounding off the devastatingly versatile bill will be England's purveyors of doom LAZARUS BLACKSTAR and local grind noisemakers ESCLAVAGE.

One of the most innovative bands in grindcore, Repulsion wil treat UK fans at the Terrorizer-sponsored event - which is organsied by the team behind Damnation Festival - on Bank Holiday Sunday, May 3 at Leeds University Union.

Terrorizer's James Hoare said: "Set your iTunes to random and within at least three songs you'll hear a band that owe these gorelords a debt that can never be repaid; the atmospheric bass rumble, the evocative lyrics, the throaty croak and the powerful mystique.

"Repulsion are the source of so much of death metal and grindcore's horror that if you don't catch their UK debut at the inaugural Deathfest, we'll strip your membership to Club Metal."

Festival director Gavin McInally added: "We're proud to bring Repulsion to the UK for the first time and have them billed amongst some of the best extreme metal bands from across the globe including Vader, Leng Tch'e and Origin and the best of British in the shape of Akercocke, Benediction, Desecration, and The Rotted.

"Lazarus Blackstar and Esclavage are another two fine home-grown additions more than capable of keeping the first Deathfest interesting with their mix of doom and grind.

"Despite the strong, international line-up, we've stuck to our promise of making this event as cheap as possible with full price tickets still under £20 and hotel rooms for as little as a tenner for folk sharing.

We sincerely hope that fans will support this event and prove that a high-profile extreme metal showcase can be successful on our wee island.

"If that's the case, we'll better it next year!"

The full Deathfest lineup is: VADER, REPULSION, ORIGIN, AKERCOCKE, BENEDICTION, DESECRATION, LENG TCH'E, LAZARUS BLACKSTAR, THE ROTTED, DAM, BLACK SUN, RETH, INFECTED DISARRAY, INGESTED and ESCLAVAGE.

Tickets are only £19.50 and are available from http://www.leedstickets.com/ , http://www.ticketline.co.uk/ and http://www.seetickets.co.uk/

Also on sale in Leeds at stores including Crash and Jumbo.

  • ISIS’ WAVERING RADIANT TRACK LISTING & COVER ART UNVEILED

LOS ANGELES – ISIS, the Los Angeles by way of Boston quintet, will release their fifth full-length album, Wavering Radiant, on May 5 via Ipecac Recordings.

The album, recorded over the late Summer and Fall of 2008 in Los Angeles, was produced by Joe Barresi (Queens Of The Stone Age, Melvins) and will also see a vinyl release on Apr. 21.

Aaron Turner recently discussed the new album with Billboard, saying "This is a better sonic representation of what the band actually sounds like. In the past I think some of the recordings were a little too clean in their final form. There was something about the energy that seemed to be lacking. It seems to feel more like us than anything else has."

"I feel a sense of completion with this record that I've never felt before,” Aaron Harris adds. “We spent more time creating this record than we have with any other, and I feel in my heart that this record is in many ways our best."
Cover art was once again created by Turner.

The track listing for Wavering Radiant is:

    Hall Of The Dead
    Ghost Key
    Hand Of The Host
    Wavering Radiant
    Stone To Wake A Serpent
    20 Minutes / 40 Years
    Threshold of Transformation

ISIS is currently planning extensive worldwide touring behind Wavering Radiant with more details to be announced shortly.
  • FILTER TO APPEAR AS SPECIAL GUESTS ON PAPA ROACH EUROPEAN TOUR
2009 LEG KICKS OFF FOLLOWING RELEASE OF GREATEST HITS ALBUM

Multi platinum selling artists FILTER are to return to Europe in April 2009 as Special Guest on the upcoming PAPA ROACH tour. The tour will take the bands all over Europe’s mainland and through the UK. This marks a welcome return for FILTER who toured in the summer of ‘08, selling out shows in London and making triumphant appearances at Rock am Ring and Rock am Park in Germany. The group will also be celebrating the release of the greatest hits album, THE VERY BEST THINGS (1995-2008), due out on March 31st.

After a 5-year hiatus, FILTER returned to the music scene in mid-2008 with their brilliant new album - “Anthems For The Damned”. Founder and frontman, Richard Patrick called the album a ‘harsh indictment of civilization that doesn’t exclude himself from its vision of a world falling apart.’ The ‘Anthems record was then remixed with a digital-only release called “Remixes For The Damned” in late ’08.

FILTER achieved huge success in the late 90’s / 2000’s with their multi-platinum selling albums “Short Bus”, “Title of Record” and “The Amalgamut”. A compilation of some of FILTER’s greatest hits will be included on the release, including classics from the band’s popular albums like “Hey Man, Nice Shot,” “Take A Picture,” “(Can’t You) Trip Like I Do” (with The Crystal Method) and “Welcome To The Fold,” among others.

Filter toured extensively in the US for the best part of 2008, performing tracks from “Anthems For The Damned”, including the hit single “Soldiers Of Misfortune” alongside the afore-mentioned Filter classics. The Filter live experience is so powerful, especially for the band themselves. “We can’t wait to get out and play live in Europe again. It has been a long time since we've done a tour outside the States. Our fans throughout Europe are so passionate and amazing," Richard Patrick said. "Papa Roach is a great band and this show should really be something special."

  • AFTER FOREVER - CALLS IT QUITS

Dutch female-fronted symphonic metallers AFTER FOREVER have issued the following statement:

"After nearly 15 years and with heavy hearts, we have decided to call an end to a great and exciting time as AFTER FOREVER. We are extremely proud of what we have accomplished, and especially of the road we took to get here. AFTER FOREVER has never been a band that repeated itself; we always tried out new things, even though many of them were certainly done at a risk. We think that that has been one of the reasons we've always enjoyed enormous support from all our loyal fans.

"The break we took in 2008 made us appreciate all the more what we'd experienced. Now more than ever, we can look back on so many fantastic moments, something we never would have expected to be part of when we started the band all those years ago. However, that break also made us aware of the fact that we can only continue AFTER FOREVER with the energy, the full 110%, that we have always put into it and we've noticed lately that there is something missing. We have always been musicians who create music with lots of passion, and during the break we built up our own lives again and have been musically active and experimenting in several genres.

"Although AFTER FOREVER is very special to us, we feel that we have reached the point where we need to explore the world of music in each of our own different ways. Thus, we've decided to quit while we're ahead. We are sincerely proud of every CD; each album represents a unique period, and all comes together in our last album 'After Forever', which made all of our dreams possible. We hope AFTER FOREVER will continue to be a source of inspiration for new bands and musicians alike so that our music can live on.

"As band members, but also as friends, we've experienced so very much; highs and lows, good times and bad. We'll keep supporting each other in all of our various individual projects and continue inspiring one another in making music.

"Our MySpace page will be used for updates on all of these projects and, of course, AFTER FOREVER-related news, as well.

"You can be sure that this is not an easy decision for any of us. We'd like to thank all of our fans for their support, also during the break.

"We know that this will be a big disappointment to you, dear fans, and it makes it that much harder for us. You have always given us your all and it was our pledge, in turn, always to give at least as much back to you for as long as we exist. In this moment, that's unfortunately just not possible, so we'd rather leave you all the albums and gigs we achieved with maximum input. We'd also like to thank Nuclear Blast, TEG and MOJO for their patience and enthusiasm, the live crew, the fan club, the fan sites and everybody who's helped in every way possible.

    "We'll miss you all."

  • Candlelight announces CIII label tour 2009

Candlelight Records today announces its third label packaged tour for North America. Set to kick off on June 6, CIII will feature the talents of US black metal legends Absu, with support coming from France’s Glorior Belli, Austin-based Averse Sefira and Los Angeles-based Sothis. The tour will visit 22 cities throughout the US and Canada beginning in San Marcos, California and wrapping up in Dallas, Texas on June 29. Tickets for all shows go on sale exclusively at Enterthevault.com today. Tickets will go on sale through all local and online ticket agencies starting March 5.

Absu’s self-titled new album hits stores nationwide February 24. Currently featured on the cover of Metal Maniacs the album is the first to offer new material from the highly regarded metal band in nearly eight years. The Texas-based band, self-described as “mythological occult metal,” are a fan favorite the world over. Terrorizer Magazine calls the new album “a sound incarnate of a band making the underground amazing again… an undeniable masterpiece.” This will be the band’s first large-scale tour since their tour alongside Enslaved in 1997.

France’s Glorior Belli make their first trip to North America as they participate on CIII. Their sophomore record, Manifesting the Raging Beast, was released in 2007 via Southern Lord Records. The band now, signed to Candlelight, will begin recording of their label debut, titled Meet Us at the Southern Sign, this month with hopes to see it released during the tour. Popular site MetalKult said in review, “Manifesting is as darkly beautiful as it is gloom inducing."

Averse Sefira join CIII continuing to support their latest album, Advent Parallax. Time Out New York notes, “black-metal lifers Averse Sefira have become a road-hardened unit, and it shows in the blistering grooves of Advent Parallax. The fourth album of the band’s 12-year career has no gothic frills or weedy “kvlt” production, just eight battle-ready blasts jammed with parched-throat howls, scything guitar riffs, blistering drums and hooks that stick.” Their participation on the tour is their third national tour in two years having previously toured with labelmates 1349 in 2007 and with friends Immolation in early 2008.

Sothis released their debut, De Oppresso Liber, on September 2. Mixed by Andy LaRocque (King Diamond), the record has enjoyed growing and consistent sales since release. This will be the band’s first national tour. Canada’s popular Brave Words Bloody Knuckles magazine says, "behold the next big black metal band." The band is currently completing work on their first video from De Oppresso Liber for the album’s title track.

CIII follows the success of Candlelight’s previous label tours – the first in 2005 featuring Entombed, Crowbar, Pro-Pain & The Mighty Nimbus, and second in 2007 featuring Enslaved, Dark Funeral and then newcomers Abigail Williams. The label, maintaining offices in Philadelphia and London, continues to grow since launching American operations in 2001. Candlelight is distributed throughout the US exclusively via Caroline Distribution, EMI Music for Canada and Plastichead Music for the rest of the world.

  • RAM News Update, new album

Compared to 'Forced Entry' the 'Lightbringer' album is a step in many directions for us. Forced Entry was a very straight forward (in RAM terms) Heavy Metal album, Lightbringer is more concept orientated and it displays an array of different themes that are noticeable in song writing, lyrics and throughout the production.

Including a horror mantra that features Mexican poet Adelaida Caballero performing one of her profound, surrealistic and magick poems, this album offers hard and heavy but quite unorthodox Heavy Metal songs that features many twists and different parts, along with melancholic and very melodic pieces. E from the infamous Black Metal band Watain is featured on one track which is A Modern Heavy Black Metal track and he lays down some Sinister vocals indeed. Something as unusual as a metal horror opera,'The Elixir' features a macabre tale in vein of Edgar Allan Poes work. Our most epic track to date and also the longest RAM song ever recorded is a song about the Battle at Suomussalmi in 1939 during the Finnish winter war.

    Tracklisting:

    1. Crushing the dwarf of ignorance
    2. Lightbringer
    3. In Victory
    4. Awakening the Chimaera
    5. Ghost Pilot (MI II)
    6. Suomussalmi (the few of iron)
    7. Blood God
    8. Titan
    9. The Elixir
    10. Prelude to Death

  • Texas Rocker Tommy Bones Rattles Your Senses With New EP Release

Houston, Texas - The Texas metal music scene has never been the same since rocker Tommy Bones hit the streets with his agressive blend of heavy-hitting groove-metal. Now Tommy Bones has released a new self-titled five-track EP of biting in-your-face rock, which has been garnering praise from the music press worldwide. "Tommy Bones is a must see - Great metal band!" recently raved the Houston Press. Tommy Bones unique rhythm guitar style and vocals, along with his strong writing ability, has gotten him noticed in the underground scene nationally landing him in publications such as Revolver Magazine and other high profile online music sites.

A native of Iowa, Tommy Bones started in 2006 as a solo project. The guitarist/vocalist recorded a 10-song CD titled 'Scarred', which combined a mixture of Rock, Alternative and Blues. After the CD was released Tommy Bones began receiving substantial airplay around the world. Because 'Scarred', which is available today at iTunes, Best Buy, Amazon, Target, etc, began selling tremendously, Tommy relocated to Dallas, Texas to get a new band started. Consequently, Tommy’s song "Alone" is featured on 'Dallas Rockers For Life' album, which is awareness against drunk driving.

As of the summer of 2007 Tommy Bones, now in Houston, started writing songs for his newly released CD EP. Going back to his roots, Tommy has been writing heavy hitting, groove-metal songs that will grab anyone by the balls. "When I was growing up, I was a huge Sabbath and Ozzy fan," says Tommy. "My first song I learned to play was 'War Pigs'. There were so many bands that I thought were gods and I emulated the way they played. Metallica, Megadeth, Pantera, White Zombie and Anthrax were the bands I wanted to be just like. But as the years went by many other great bands came along that have inspired me as well, such as Slipknot, Lamb of God and many others."

Here's what the press are raving about Tommy Bones:

"Tommy Bones is one of the best original metal bands to come out of Texas since Pantera." Extreme Full Throttle Radio

"Great metal band with a groove... Tommy Bones is a success!" Waco Tribune

With songs off the new EP like "Fight", "Burn" and "Muderous Rage" , Tommy Bones has something to say to the world, "Short and sweet - 'Don't take crap from anyone', explains Tommy. "So many people never stand up for themselves, or for others. That even goes for our nation's way of life. We need to stand up to our own government and take back our nation. The people we have elected as public servants have let us down and disgraced out country. I feel the only way to secure our way of life is to join together as a nation and take back control of our country."

Now getting Clear Channel radio play as well as airplay from several online stations, Tommy Bones is becoming a force to be delt with in a very aggressive metal scene. With Tommy's EP selling at iTunes, AmazonMP3, eMusic, Napster, etc, it is clear that Tommy Bones will be around for many years to come!

  • Javelina reveals album details for upcoming record

Philadelphia's Javelina (pronounced "ha-va-'lE-na") are preparing their sophomore release for Translation Loss Records and will hit Chicago this March to spend a week with Sanford Parker at Volume Studios (Pelican, Rwake, Nachtmystium, Minsk) and will be mastered by Mick Mullin at Super 8 Studios (Intronaut, Mastodon, Fight Amp). The band will be recording nine original tunes for their Translation Loss follow up to 2008's self-titled release along with a Buzzv*en cover that will be featured on a upcoming tribute record. Some song titles include... "You're Going to Hate This", "Towers of Silence", "The Black Blizzard" and "Stepchild".

Expect a late summer - early fall release on both cd/vinyl formats and check in at www.myspace.com/javelinaphiladelphia for show/tour dates and music.

What folks have said about Javelina's self titled debut:

"Pick any song in here and prepare to get torn up and bloodied. Just like you were chewin' on cactus" 9 out of 10 - Decibel Magazine

"Bottom heavy, hands locked in the power chord position, drums being hit like they owe the mob money, all swamp-like and sculpted into calamitous anthems. Catchy, thrashy, old school songwriting smarts (think Kill 'Em All) and burly rock 'n' roll (think Tragedy or The Holy Mountain) to keep their meaty groove firmly ensconced in your memory banks" - Metal Maniacs

"It's almost as if Buzzov*en drowned in a vat of Jack Daniels, were resuscitated by Satan and went back to their instruments without a change of clothes. Wait, didn't they do that anyway? The ghosts of drug-addled Black Sabbath and Venom smile up from the deepest pit of Hell." - Exclaim Magazine

"Strong riffs, a dual vocal attack, a thick bass with plenty of huge chops, a generally mid-paced to up tempo structure with some great variation within songs, some sludge laden stoner navel contemplation, and even a few fleeting moments of melody are all present in spades on the debut. All of these disparate elements are seamlessly woven together to produce an excellent debut album that speaks volumes of the potential of Javelina. Highly recommended." - Live4Metal.com

  • FATTOOTH Self Titled Debut Album to Unleash In the US

Releases on Reversed Records on March 17th

HOLLYWOOD, CA – Make No Bones about it, Fattooth is Canada’s premiere Kick in the face Metal/Punk crossover act. Their self-titled debut US release will hit March 24th on Reversed Records.

With a killer stage show and biting sound, Fattooth has been tearing a new hole in the Canadian underground scene. Eons beyond all the tired Death metal and Grindcore acts boring the hell out of every one to the point of suicide;... With no patience for the depressed and prozakked,.... Fattooth brings on a mix of Punk, Cock Rock and Metal roots that make the sluts rip their shirts off and the dudes thrash their mullets.

You may be asking yourself how did this menacing quartet come to be? The better question is how are they allowed to corrupt the youth without consequence? We will save that for an upcoming seminar on obscenity and censorship. Originally, it was three guys solid (Mihran Boudakian, Hucifer and George Xipoleas), beating out sound and going deaf with a multitude of half ass drummers in Montreal, Canada. Their work was enough to get producer and Juno award winning engineer Rob Shallcross (Strapping Young Lad, Gwar, Man Made Mountains, Mr. Plow etc.) interested in the project, after having worked with the talents of Hucifer back in grungy old Winnipeg in the late 90‘s. The guys in Montreal sent Shallcross the material they had recorded and Hucifer started tracking the vocals in Vancouver, between planting Trees on the West Coast of Canada, Gene Hoglan (Death, Dethlok, Strapping Young Lad, Zimmer’s hole) flew in, pounded out the drum tracks and ate a bunch of Sushi. The remaining two flew in to complete the job that had been started in Magma Studios in January 08, hence the self titled debut album.

The three discovered a suitable replacement for Gene in Costa Dimitroulis and are currently banging out shows to sweaty, drunk, awestruck audiences. This album will be released in the U.S in conjunction with over 40 dates in 23 states.

    Vocals: Hucifer
    Guitar: George Xipoleas
    Bass: Mihran Boudakian
Drums: Gene Hoglan (on album) - Costa Dimitroulis

    TRACK LISTING:

    1- Big Daddy
    2- Rock around the world
3- High Time at low tide
    4- Bacteria
    5- Red neck metal head
    6- Gunned by noon
    7- Slave
    8- Shitzami
    9- The More machine

  • Prog-Metal Band JAW to Release in the U.S.A.

SWINGS HUMANS on Reversed Records - March 24th, 2009

"JAW has progressive elements similar to that of Tool, but enough thunderous metal action to make them all their own" - James Korba, Stylus Magazine.

"JAW mixes the experimentation of Tool with a bit of death metal and prog rock"
    - Mike Warkentin, Uptown Magazine.

Hollywood, CA – Canadian Prog-Metal band JAW is releasing their sophomore album SWINGS HUMANS on Reversed Records on March 24th, 2009. Their efforts to unify musical experimentation and a message of personal evolution, is clearly in evidence on an absolutely meticulously crafted eight-song affair.

JAW is power, an unrestrained force possessing an unorthodox songwriting style. Fearlessly they innovate as they push for change. JAW is an inherent talent, a creative David in world of conformist Goliaths.

JAW formed in 2001 when vocalist Emmanuel Olarewaju and guitarist Jason Dokken met through serendipity at a music store in their hometown of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. After months of searching for individuals who shared in their creative vision, Olarewaju and Dokken recruited bassist Pablo Riedel and drummer Kevin Kornelsen. On July 17th 2001, JAW began. Within a few months of forming, the quartet had written a solid set of songs. These songs only scratched the surface of JAW's potential.

JAW recorded their first EP in November 2002. With EP in hand JAW began tirelessly touring the frigid western Canadian plains through to the eastern coast, while periodically dipping into Minnesota and North Dakota. JAW's live performance impressed to such an extent that within a year the group had sold enough albums to garner a strong following nationwide.

JAW entered The Space Behind A Garage Studios in Winnipeg, Manitoba with producer/engineer Rob Shallcross (Strapping Young Lad, Gwar, Townsend Band, Darkest Hour, Threat Signal) to record SWINGS HUMANS'. The result of this collaboration is of brutality and peace conveyed through movements, from the grandeur of its mountain tops to the voids of its valleys. Soulful, poetic, graceful and mighty, JAW's SWINGS HUMANS reinvents what metal is and can be.

    JAW is:

    Emmanuel Olarewaju: Vocals
    Jason Dokken: Guitar
    Pablo Riedel: Bass
    Kevin Kornelsen: Drums

  • Candlelight signs Susperia

Candlelight today confirms the worldwide signing of Norway's Susperia. Currently finishing work on their fifth album, the band recently announced a string of early spring UK dates that will kick off what is expected to be a busy year for the popular Norwegian metal band. "Ten years and still the same five guys," exclaims vocalist Athera of the band's long commitment to their music. "We have worked nearly two years on this material, perfecting it for your pleasure and our devoted fans. It will take you back to the early days with melancholic riffing and dark emotional vocals. It's a perfect blend of everything Susperia has been and become."

"A blend of thrash metal drawing on influences that include Sepultura, Anthrax, and Testament," says Allmusic.com of Susperia's now highly regarded sound. The popular music portal continues its early 2005 review noting "their songs are melodic yet intense and forceful, and shredding guitars are the rule." Formed in 1998 by drummer Tjodalv (then of Dimmu Borgir) and guitarist Cyrus (then of Satyricon/Old Man’s Child), the band released their debut, Predominance, via Nuclear Blast in 2001. The band's much-acclaimed second album, Vindication, followed in 2003. Signing with Norwegian-based Tabu Records (with release in the US via Candlelight Records) in 2004, the band released their third album, Unlimited, later that year. Brave Words Bloody Knuckles called the album, "a scorcher from start to finish, on par with Testament classic The Gathering."

A powerful live act, the band has consistently remained focused to the live arena. With numerous high profile support, headline and festival appearances, one of the band's most cherished experiences thus far remains supporting the newly reformed Testament in late 2005. The dates would culminate in the release of the band's Norwegian charting mini-album Devil May Care. Work on their fourth album, Cut From Stone, would see out the end of the year. Unfortunately due to financial constraints two tries to visit the US to support the Daniel Bergstrand-produced album during 2007/08 would set back the album’s overall sales target but the band remained committed. Touring Europe, including numerous dates with W.A.S.P, the band's ambitions stayed and continue to remain in tact. "We now have the backing of one label worldwide and this is going to make life easier for us," says bassist Memnock. "We hope that finally we get to play to our American fans."

Susperia's still untitled label debut is expected for release early summer. Recorded in Norway it was mixed at Studio Fredman in Sweden. Susperia currently includes guitarists Cyrus and Elvorn, bassist Memnock, with drummer Tjodalv and vocalist Athera.

  • CORMORANT Announce Tracklisting for "METAZOA"

San Francisco, California-based progressive black metal act CORMORANT have just announced the track listing for their upcoming full-length album, Metazoa. The album was recorded and produced by Billy Anderson (NEUROSIS, MELVINS, SLEEP, PRIMORDIAL) at Sharkbite Studios and mixed by Justin Weis (HAMMERS OF MISFORTUNE, LUDICRA, SLOUGH FEG) at Traxworx Studios.

CORMORANT's sound is rooted in black/death metal and built upon forward-thinking, neoclassically-influenced arrangements. They combine the folk-tinged atmospheres of Agalloch with straight-up heavy metal thunder, the expansiveness of post-rock, and the progressive blackness of latter-day Enslaved. • EX DEO to film "Romulus" Video!

EX DEO, the band featuring KATAKLYSM frontman Maurizio Iacono, have recruited renowned director Stanimir "Staca" Lukic (MOONSPELL, KAMELOT, DEATHSTARS, TYPE O NEGATIVE) to film the music video for the title track of the debut album titled "Romulus". The clip will be filmed in early March in Belgrade, Serbia where the magic of Rome will be recreated.

Commented Maurizio Iacono: "I wanted the ideal person to bring this concept to life and we felt Staca's plan to do it was the right one. What better place to capture it then Europe itself?! Staca's work is nothing short of phenomenal and I can’t wait to unleash the past fury of Rome on the world!"

Maurizio and company are currently locked in the compounds of JFD Studio's in Canada with producer J-f Dagenais (KATAKLYSM, MISERY INDEX, DESPISED ICON, MALEVOLENT CREATION) working on their epic debut.

Nuclear Blast records has tentatively set a Summer release date for “Romulus”.
  • Lecherous Nocturne - new album out now; US tour approaches

Perseverance. Determination. Integrity - Three words that unmistakably describe South Carolina's Lecherous Nocturne. Formed by guitarists Kreishloff, Chris Lollis and vocalist Hohenstein, the group has ignored every musical trend that has sprung up around them for nearly a decade, all the while building on and refining their sound through two critically hailed releases - 2003's self-titled EP, 2006's debut full-length Adoration of the Blade (Deepsend Records) and their intense, relentless live shows.

Throughout their tenure, this extreme-metal entity has endured hardships that would cripple or even kill most bands. Numerous bass and drummer changes, label shifts, a 1500 mile relocation, and even having everything they owned on tour, including their touring vehicle, stolen from them in 2007. And still... they persevere.

In 2008, fueled by theft, and an overwhelming urge to break from obscurity, the band entered Soundlab Studio in Columbia, SC to record The Age of Miracles Has Passed, out now on Unique Leader Records. Absolutely the band's most defining record to date, TAOMHP is filled with the trademark Lecherous speed, intelligence, and technicality, while building upon the brutality with refined vocals and infectious hooks certain to appeal to longtime fans of LN, as well as a legion of new ones to come.

Lecherous Nocturne are preparing to assault the US on the upcoming Metal Maniacs sponsored Grind Your Mind 2009 tour beginning late February alongside Embryonic Devourment and Sol Asunder, with more live dates and tour action to be announced soon.

  • KYPCK photos & video footage from Moscow available!

Russia's Darkside e-zine has posted high-quality photos and video footage of Russian-singing Finnish doom act KYPCK's January 17, 2009 concert at club Tochka in Moscow www.darkside.ru/report/3671

More photos of the Moscow concert can be found at

http://musica.mustdie.ru/ru/galleries/1/286/ A live clip of KYPCK performing the song “Demon” can be watched here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=RC7Aydl_uqM

According to Sami Lopakka it was a truly fantastic experience: "It was overwhelming how warm their welcome was to our cold music. Kypck has found its home, and we are already looking forward to going back to Russia."

KYPCK ("Kursk" in the western alphabet) feature former Sentenced guitarist Sami Lopakka, former Sentenced bassist Sami Kukkohovi live on guitar, vocalist E. Seppänen, bassist J. T. Ylä-Rautio and renowned producer Hiili Hiilesmaa (HIM, Apocalyptica, Sentenced, etc.), who plays drums in the band under the name K. H. M. Hiilesmaa.

KYPCK's debut album, "Cherno", was originally released through the Finnish label UHO Production and despite the album's crushing, doomy nature and Russian lyrics went straight to No. 11 on the Finnish chart. Century Media Records released the album worldwide in summer 2008.

  • WOLF launch new video for "Voodoo" at MySpace!

Sweden’s masters of kick-ass heavy metal WOLF are about to return in full metallic glory with their brand-new album “Ravenous”. As the first promo clip for this stunning new effort WOLF now proudly present you their brand-new video for the song “Voodoo”, the band states:

“Both the song and the video has that dark imagery that WOLF fans know and love. Having these brilliant voodoo-kids in the video along with the spiders and other creatures of the night, we think we really hit the spot with this one. Working with Owe Lingwall again was also a delight. We really love how it turned out and we can't wait to bring this song to our live-set.”

Check it out NOW at www.myspace.com/wolfheavymetal

“Ravenous” also features guest appearances by Hank Shermann (Force of Evil, Mercyful Fate) and Marc Boals (ex-Malmsteen). The fierce and bloody artwork was once again created by long time cover artist Thomas Holm (Mercyful Fate).

Topped off by the phenomenal production by Roy Z (Bruce Dickinson, Judas Priest) “Ravenous” promises a heavy metal delicacy par excellence!
“Ravenous” will be released on February 23, 2009 (Europe) and March 24, 2009 (US) – rest assured, real metal is back with a vengeance!

  • THE AGONIST post two new songs at re-vamped Myspace site;

Canada’s most exciting female fronted export, THE AGONIST, strikes back with their second full length, “Lullabies For The Dormant Mind“, combining raw, driving shreds with pure technicality, topped off with sexy Alissa White-Gluz’s brutal growls as well as dramatically melodic clean vocals, taking THE AGONIST to a new level of musical grandeur. As a first impression of this magnificent effort, the two brand-new tracks “The Tempest (The Siren's Song; The Banshee's Cry)” and “Martyr Art” have just been posted at the band’s freshly pimped Myspace site, check them out at
    www.myspace.com/theagonist

The quintet, born in 2004, covers a wide range of styles from classical to black metal. Their debut album, “Once Only Imagined” (2007), caught the eyes and ears of many musicians and music fans alike, and their sophomore album, “Lullabies for the Dormant Mind”, set to be released on February 23, 2009 (Europe) and March 10, 2009 (USA), will once again prove the diverse talents of these young musicians. The a cappella version of Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake is only one example of the band’s musical abilities as it impressively exhibits Alissa’s mind blowingly wide range of vocal skills and professionalism as a singer.
Produced by Christian Donaldson (Cryptopsy, Mythosis), "Lullabies for the Dormant Mind" exposes new facets of the band and touches upon classical, jazz, opera, grindcore, thrash and black metal influences in a complete metal opus. Following a dark, twisted yet beautiful, surrealist visual concept from Natalie Shau once again, THE AGONIST have created an uncomfortable yet addictive setting for their metal. “Lullabies For The Dormant Mind” promises to turn heads with its daring mix of moods and styles – a challenging album well ahead of its time!

  • LOTHLÖRYEN announces "In the Name of Tolkien - Folk Metal Tour 2009"

    - The brazilian heavy/folk metal act LOTHLÖRYEN is preparing to hit the road with a tour to promote their new album, entitled "Some Ways Back No More", released in Brazil through Die Hard Records.

The tour, entitled "In The Name of Tolkien - Folk Metal Tour 2009", will begin in March and will be a true "bard's alliance" and will feature the support act SkaldicSoul, which will be promoting their album "Paths In The Highland", and also Blind Guardian Cover Union, a band formed by members of both bands with the vocalists Daniel Felipe and Rogério Malgor, who have a tone of voice similar to Hansi Kürsch.

About the tour, Leko Soares, Lothlöryen's guitarist, comments: "Everything began after our first show to promote "Some Ways..." last year, when we became friends of SkaldicSoul. The affinity of both bands and the love shared for Tolkien's works, folk metal, and Blind Guardian, made us to search the ways to make the project of a conceptual tour to work. We hope that the producers embrace the idea and help us to bring Tolkien and metal to many places as possible."

There are plans of including booths for RPG, mediaeval culture and local Tolkien communities on the shows. People who have interest to book dates should send an e-mail to bardsalliance@yahoo.com.br
