- DORO TO PLAY NYC IN JUNE N OTHER DORO NEWS
German metal queen DORO has scheduled a headlining concert at B.B. King
Blues Club & Grill in New York City on June 11, 2007. Support at
the show will come from ARCTIC FLAME and OPERATIKA. More U.S. dates
are expected to be announced soon.
In other news, Doro will be a guest on the German sports TV show "Das
aktuelle Sportstudio" (broadcast on the ZDF network) tonight (January
6) at 11:00 p.m. She and her friend, WIBF flyweight female boxing world
champion Regina Halmich, will discuss Halmich's next match, which is
scheduled to take place on January 13 at the Brandberge Arena in Halle/Saale,
Germany. Halmich will be defending her title against Hungarian Reka
Kempf.
Doro originally wrote and recorded "She's like Thunder" as
a theme song for Halmich's fights. A new version of the song, re-titled
"We're like Thunder", featuring Halmich, was released in September
2005 via AFM Records.
In other news, Doro has been selected to serve as a jury member for
the 16th annual Echo 2007 awards, Germany's version of the Grammy Awards.
The awards show will take place on March 25 in Berlin and will be broadcast
on German TV via RTL.
- SOILWORK To Enter Studio In March
Sweden's SOILWORK has posted the following message on its official web
site:
"First of all, we wanna say thanks for a great 2006. We had a great
year and a lot of great tours. It was fun to see you all out there.
"Since the release of 'Stabbing the Drama' in 2005, we made about
250 shows for that album. Now it's time to take a rest, but also to
get focused on the upcoming album.
"Right now we're working on the new songs. We have about seven
songs ready and so far it sounds great. It will be a killer album. We
will enter the studio at the beginning of March and, hopefully, the
album will be out at late summer. We will keep you updated of the recording
progress.
"And... regarding the guitarist situation; Soon it will be decided
who's gonna replace Peter [Wichers].
"So, once again... thanks for the great support and... see ya in
2007."
SOILWORK's latest CD, "Stabbing the Drama", is available now
on Nuclear Blast Records. The follow-up to 2003's "Figure Number
Five" was recorded at Fascination Street studios in Örebro
and Dug-Out Productions in Uppsala, Sweden with producer Daniel Bergstrand
(MESHUGGAH, IN FLAMES, STUCK MOJO).
Peter Wichers left SOILWORK in December 2005 to pursue a career in producing.

- SEVENDUST Keeping It Heavy On The Road
SEVENDUST guitarist John Connolly recently told HeraldTribune.com
that he and his bandmates will be rocking harder than ever on their
upcoming U.S. tour in support of their sixth studio album, "Alpha"
(due March 6). "We're not going to have too many broken-down moments,"
explained the axeman. "We've been actually running a heavier set
ever since [new guitarist] Sonny [Mayo] got in the band. The fans really
seem to be reacting well to it."
Mayo joined SEVENDUST in early 2005 as the replacement for Clint Lowery,
who joined his brother, bassist Corey Lowery (ex-STUCK MOJO), in a new
band, DARK NEW DAY.
Lowery quit in December 2004 with a half-dozen shows remaining on a
year-ending tour, leaving the group in the lurch.
"That's the only thing I think any of us were really that bitter
about, because Clint going to play with his brother wasn't a surprise
or anything at all," Connolly said. "I mean, I called it four
years before it happened. But just the way that he did it, I could never
leave the guys like that."
SEVENDUST's 57-date North American tour is scheduled to begin on February
8 in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Support on the trek will come from DIECAST
and LEGION.
SEVENDUST will release "Alpha" through its own label, 7 Bros.
Records, which recently entered into a partnership with Asylum/Warner
Music Group. The CD's first single, "Deathstar", is now streaming
at the band's official web site, Sevendust.info.
Produced by Joe Miller, John Connolly, Morgan Rose and Shawn Grove,
"Alpha" will be the group's first effort since 2005's "Next".
"Alpha" track listing:
01. Deathstar
02. Clueless
03. Driven

- IRON MAIDEN’S ‘DEATH ON THE ROAD’ DVD TO RECEIVE
U.S. RELEASE ON JANUARY 30TH!
Released nearly a year ago in their native England, Iron Maiden’s
latest live DVD, ‘Death on the Road,’ will finally be receiving
a much-deserved U.S. release on January 30th. Filmed at the Westenfalenhalle
Arena in Dortmund, Germany, the performance was personally edited by
founding member/bassist Steve Harris, to fully capture the magnificent
stage production and to cut right to the heart and the electricity of
the band’s performance.
'We realize that the fans have been made to wait a little longer than
planned for the DVD to come out,” admits Harris. “We won't
settle for anything but the best and the extra time and effort spent
in the final production of this DVD should be apparent. I can safely
say that when people see songs like 'Paschendale' and 'Dance Of Death'
their jaws will hit the floor as mine did when I saw the final product
on my TV at home. With visuals like this and the show played in 5.1
on a decent system it's just like being in the front rows of the show.”
To ensure top quality and to avoid any compromise in reproducing the
very best possible sound and picture quality, the band have taken the
unprecedented step of making the full concert available on two separate
discs – one with full traditional stereo soundtrack and the other
with specially mixed 5.1 sound by Kevin 'Caveman' Shirley – which
along with the special features disc makes three discs in all. As with
all officially-release Maiden DVD’s issued thus far, ‘Death
on the Road’ contains oodles of bonus material (this time, three
hours worth), including an exclusive documentary directed by Matthew
Amos - who also directed the band’s award winning ‘Early
Days’ documentary. It's an insight into the production of the
‘Dance of Death’ album from its writing and recording through
to the detail in what it takes to get a massive show like Maiden on
the road. Also included are all of the promo videos from the album,
background interviews with members of the production crew and fans during
the tour, artwork, design sketches, and photo galleries.
Since the taping of ‘Death on the Road,’ Iron Maiden has
issued the critically heralded ‘A Matter of Life and Death,’
which went on to become the group’s highest charting U.S. album
ever – peaking at #9 on the Billboard charts. Up next for the
group is a headlining spot at the Dubai Desert Rock Festival on March
9th, which will see Iron Maiden joined by the likes of the Prodigy,
Stone Sour, In Flames, Mastodon, Children of Bodom, Lauren Harris, and
Junkyard Groove.
The full set list from the show is:

CAN I PLAY WITH MADNESS

- BLAZE Mainman Parts Ways With Touring Lineup
Former IRON MAIDEN/WOLFSBANE singer Blaze Bayley has parted ways with
the members of his most recent BLAZE touring lineup. The departing members
— Oliver Palotai (guitar), Luca Princiotta (guitar), Christian
Ammann (bass), and Daniel Schild (drums) — have issued the following
statement regarding the matter:
"We are in the sad situation to give out the news that the complete
current lineup of BLAZE, therefore the authors of this letter, will
leave the band.
"In the past years BLAZE was in a difficult situation, regarding
finances, management and organization. Finally, during summer 2006,
things started to clear up a bit, after working together on all those
aspects.
"Most of the songs for the next album have been already written
together. Still — in a tough music business today — we were
prepared it would be not easy to launch the new era of BLAZE. But we
always had the feeling we had a great band, further being really good
friends, and being capable of handling that.
"But about four months ago Blaze Bayley got in contact with a new
management. The ideas and working style of this management quickly showed
to be very different what we, the musicians, considered to be right
for this band.
"Blaze Bayley himself decided to stay with the management. Thus
a common basis for making music together is not longer existing.
"We thank you for all your support during the past years. Have
a happy and successful year 2007.
BLAZE's most recent release, "Blood & Belief", was issued
in Europe in April 2004. The follow-up to 2002's "Tenth Dimension"
was recorded at Backstage Studios in Derbyshire, England with producer
Andy Sneap (NEVERMORE, EXODUS, ARCH ENEMY).

- JOB FOR A COWBOY announces newest addition, drummer Jon Rice!
Job For A Cowboy is proud to announce the latest addition to the line-up,
Jon "The Charn" Rice! Jon has been playing drums for about
7 years. After completing a year at Capital's Conservatory of Music,
majoring in Music Business with a focus on Percussion, Jon left to pursue
a career in music.
JFAC guitarist, Ravi Bhadriraju had this to say about his new band mate:
"Jon's Badass. His demo was awesome and we felt that after meeting
and talking to other drummers that his personality fit best with ours.
In addition to an awesome drummer, we needed someone who wants what
we want and that is to tour as much as possible and he is down with
that. We have no plans to stop and I'm glad we get to do that with the
comfort of knowing we brought the right dude with us and that he feels
the same."
New drummer, Jon agrees:
"For me it's a dream come true. It's one of those things where
you take a chance and send a demo over and then your life is changed.
I'm really looking forward to living on the road. I've lived in Pittsburgh
forever and starting in a few weeks I will be living the dream and seeing
the world."
Job For A Cowboy just recently completed work on their Metal Blade Records
debut which will be out in the Spring/Summer of 2007.
- BRAZIL’S NERVOCHAOS SIGNS WITH IBEX MOON RECORDS
TRENTON, N.J. - Brazilian death-thrashers NervoChaos are preparing their
third full-length, “Quarrel in Hell,” to be releases this
spring via Ibex Moon Records.
The furious Brazilian metallers combine the best elements of all extreme
music, mixing sheer brutality, amazing technical skills, and speed with
thrashing vibes. With “Quarrel in Hell,” NervoChaos manages
to deliver the most brutal and yet sophisticated output of their career.
“Quarrel in Hell” features special guest appearances by
Alex Camargo (Krisiun), John McEntee (Incantation), Emperor Magnus Caligula
(Dark Funeral), Sanguine & Wrath (Averse Sefira), and Mark “Barney”
Greenway (Napalm Death).
“I have known Eduardo, the drummer, for a long time,” said
Ibex Moon owner and Incantation frontman John McEntee. “When Incantation
was on tour in Brazil in 2004, he asked me if I would do some vocals
on a track from their upcoming album. Being good friends with him, I
gave it a shot. The music was kick ass and it was my first time officially
recording my vocals, so it was cool to hear how they sounded on the
recording. The finished CD kicks ass. They have their own sound and
I think the death metal masses will like it.”
The São Paolo-based group was formed in the spring of 1996, with
the intention of creating an aggressive and chaotic band to shred the
barriers of death metal and hardcore.
In the decade since, NervoChaos has gained cult status in the extreme
music scene thanks to their hard work and their demo tapes have become
collector’s items in the underground scene.
The has shared the stage with a long list of international bands from
all sub-genres of extreme music, including Cannibal Corpse, Krisiun,
Napalm Death, Kreator, Biohazard, Dismember, Agnostic Front, Disgorge,
D.R.I., Monstrosity, Volcano, Deeds of Flesh, Pandemia, Total Fucking
Destruction, Belphegor, and Iconoclasm.

- AFTER FOREVER new album title revealed!
After four full length albums and one mini album, AFTER FOREVER decided
to make their upcoming album a self-titled album. Sander Gommans: "This
album does not only show new elements of AFTER FOREVER, but it's also
a reflection of the past. We wrote this album, while negotiating with
new labels, and felt a lot of energy.
The previous albums all had their own style and identity. This time
we carried these different elements to the extremes. AFTER FOREVER is

- ATROCITY MAKES SAMPLES OF "CONTAMINATED" AVAILABLE ONLINE
Reunited Torrington, Connecticut-based thrash/hardcore act ATROCITY
(not to be confused with the German band) have posted 30 second samples
of every track off of the upcoming “Contaminated” CD which
features alternative recordings from the original “Infected”
sessions. These sample are currently being streamed at http://www.opengraverecords.com.
Formed in early 1985 by Rob Wedda (vocals), Rich Flint (bass), Scott
Reynolds (guitar) and Jeff White (drums), ATROCITY had pushed out three
demos ("Toxic Death", "Ravaged by Disease", "Mangled")
and a self-financed seven-inch EP, entitled "Hatred Birth",
by 1989. They soon caught the attention of U.K.-based Metalcore Records,
a subsidiary of Plastichead Distribution, whom they ultimately signed
with.
ATROCITY's first album, "Infected" (1990), is very raw and
featured a very violent death metal/grind sound. The second album, "The
Art of Death" (1992), saw a lineup change when Scott left the band
and was replaced by Jesse Piechowski on guitar.
January 30 will see the release of "Contaminated", which is
currently available for preorder via the Open Grave Records webstore.
- U.D.O. To Headline Holland's BORSTROCK 2007 Festival
U.D.O., the band led by former ACCEPT frontman Udo Dirkschneider, has
been confirmed as the headliner of Borstrock 2007, a two-day festival
set to take place May 18-19 in Nieuw-Vossemeer, in the south of the
Netherlands. Also scheduled to appear are VENGEANCE, SOMEWHERE ON STAGE
(IRON MAIDEN tribute) and SCRUM. More acts will be announced soon.
As previously reported, U.D.O. has set a May 4, 2007 release date for
its new album. No further details are currently available. U.D.O.'s
official web site has also been updated with a photo from the Sweden
Rock Festival kick-off party, which was held on December 2, 2006 at
Nalen in Stockholm. The event featured a performance by a one-off all-star
band featuring the following musicians (from left to right in photo):
* Mia Coldheart (CRUCIFIED BARBARA)
* Nalle "Grizzly" Påhlsson (TREAT, ZAN CLAN)
* Janne Stark (OVERDRIVE, LOCOMOTIVE BREATH, MOUNTAIN OF POWER)
* Ian Haugland (EUROPE)
* Ryan Roxie (ROXIE 77, ALICE COOPER, SLASH'S SNAKEPIT, ELECTRIC ANGELS)
* Udo Dirkschneider (U.D.O., ACCEPT)
* Oscar Dronjak (HAMMERFALL)
The group's setlist was as follows:
01. Metal Gods (JUDAS PRIEST)
02. School's Out (ALICE COOPER)
03. Independence Day (U.D.O.)
04. Son Of A Bitch (ACCEPT)
05. Balls To The Wall (ACCEPT)
U.D.O. supported LORDI on September 28 at the Live Music Hall in Cologne.
Dirkschneider makes an appearance on the song "They Only Come Out
At Night" on LORDI's latest album, "The Arockalypse".
U.D.O.'s last album, "Mission No. X", was issued in September
2005 via AFM Records. The follow-up to 2004's "Thunderball"
marked the recording debut with the group of new drummer Francesco Jovino.
Jovino joined the band last year as the permanent replacement for Lorenzo
Milani, who left the group for "personal reasons."

- Biomechanical News
Exodus Tour Report
It's hard to put together everything that happened over 42 days in just
a few paragraphs. All we can say is that we had an awesome time, travelled
through shit loads of countries in just a few weeks , witnessed a man
turn black (and I mean totally black, face, teeth, the lot!) with the
help of black markers and various band members (for Christ's Sake, if
on tour never pass out!! Guaranteed you will wake up full of graffiti)
and met some amazing people along the way. Did hang out with the guys
from Lamb of God, In Flames, Kerry King members of Dimmu Borgir and
the legendary Venom!! But most off all we were glad to get off this
tour knowing that we have made friends with the legends that are Exodus!!
Those guys not only tear the shit out of every stage night after night
but they also shared all their stuff with us. Their dressing room was
our dressing room. Hell, Paul Bostaph even let Matt C use one of his
kicks when his kick drum called it a day. Total respect to the guys
, they are absolute fucking Thrash legends!!
Unfortunately bad luck was all around us but we managed to escape it
somehow! Jamie and Chris did escape a car crash in Bradford but the
shit didn't really hit the fan until in Sweden when customs officers
ripped the fucking handle off our bus !! With all our equipment and
our shit locked in. It was a crucial moment 'cause we had no idea if
we were going to make it for the rest of the tour. The officers fucked
off and left us staring at a broken handle!! Then we nearly lost the
ferry and one of our members had a severe asthma attack. All in 45 minutes.!!
Never before a situation from pretty good has gone to pretty fucked
up in such a short space of time! When it all seem lost a dude stopped
next to us and he had 60 kilos of (we know what you think but no, it
wasn't) Turkish sweet pie type of thing!! WTF?? It must have been a
good sign 'cause the guy offered us shitloads of that thing and then
our Tour Manager made a couple of phone calls and it was all sorted.
Just like that! We managed to strike a deal with the bus owner so that
we could fix the bus in Finland , got on the ferry and carried on with
the tour!! The shit didn't stop there though, a broken cab, fucked up
head, cracked kick drum skin, broken camera and other little bits and
pieces kept happening after that moment. But we did carry on in to the
rest of the tour with the necessary help of Jager and beer!! Thanks
to Exodus for the tons (and we mean TONS) of beer and to Jagermeister
for providing us with the much necessary liquids!!
So what kept us alive was: ham & chee(se), Jager, Beer, Vodka, Petrol,
Bo-Selecta, the A-Team, Family Guy, Aliens, Jurassic Park, Revenge of
the Sith (John K only), Star Wars Trilogy (Original & Unaltered),
Anchorman, Nutella, Cocopops , bus under floor heating, Craig (the man
is a legend, drove 18 hours from Germany to Serbia), and the crazy fuckers
who made it all worth while.
Thanks to all who supported us from the UK all the way to Finland and
Spain!! Metal hails and thanks to our brothers Garry, Lee, Rob, Jack
and Paul and thanks and metal hails to Thilo (thanks for the awesome
sound in Naples), Pete (Chill down dude ;-) and Ross. Our respect goes
to Nick Barker and Craig (without you this just would not happen dude)
and Sharon our agent for working her ass off keeping this shit together
while we were travelling through Europe. It was the first Biomechanical
full European tour and a massive thanks goes to our fans for making
this an experience we won't forget!
Biomechanical will be supporting 3 Inches of Blood on their UK Tour
in March 2007!

Great Metal Hammer Review for the Re-issue of The Empires of the Worlds!!
Cool Terrorizer review for the Damnation Festival
LONDON'S BIOMECANICAL are perhaps one of the brightest hope in the UK
metal scene at present, mixing soaring falsetto vocal melodies with
dino cazares-influenced industrial riffs. It's easy to see why their
sound appeals to such an extreme and broad spectrum. Diving from extreme
thrash to classic "NWOBHM", the Damnation crowd are somewhat
oblivius to the sometimes sketchy sound but vocalist John K keeps them
hypnotised with his phenomenal vocals , which translate exceptionally
well to a live setting..

sold 150,000 copies in the United States since its Sept. 5 release,

- CORROSION OF CONFORMITY: 'Doing Some Writing And Jamming The Tunes
A Little'
CORROSION OF CONFORMITY's official web site has just been updated with
the following message from guitarist Woody Weatherman, dated November
14, 2006:
"Mike Dean [bass], Jason Paterson [drums] and myself have been
back at it just a bit. After a hiatus during the last half of summer,
we have been holed up out at my place doing some writing and jamming
the tunes a little. Pepper [Keenan; guitar/vocals] is in New Orleans
working on some DOWN material, as most of you all know. So it may still
be a spell before we'll have any new C.O.C. see the light of day. In
the meantime we'll keep at it when we feel it, and maybe get something
out there on the sly before the next century rolls around. Mike has
been doing some vocalizing lately, so we may have some good stuff to
report, and if anything real interesting happens soon we'll keep you
informed of it."
CORROSION OF CONFORMITY completed a U.K. headlining tour in January
2006 in support of its latest album, "In the Arms of God",
available now on Sanctuary Records. The group's first collection of
new material since 2000's "America's Volume Dealer" was produced
by C.O.C.'s longtime collaborator John Custer. Besides working on four
of the band's previous albums, Custer also produced C.O.C. bassist Mike
Dean's track on Dave Grohl's PROBOT project and C.O.C.'s contribution
to "Nativity In Black", the BLACK SABBATH tribute compilation.
Playing drums was New Orleans' Stanton Moore, skinsman for the renowned
jazz-funk combo GALACTIC.

- LILLIAN AXE RETURNS, SIGNS WITH METRO CITY RECORDS
After an extended hiatus that left many fans wondering if they’d
ever see the group up and running again, melodic metallists Lillian
Axe has risen from the ashes and are preparing their first all-new studio
album since 1993’s highly regarded Psychoschizophrenia.’
Led by founding guitarist Steve Blaze, Lillian Axe earned the respect
of ‘Headbanger’s Ball’ viewers coast to coast with
such releases as 1988’s self-titled debut and 1992’s ‘Poetic
Justice’ –the latter of which saw the band turn a blind
eye to the then-burgeoning grunge sound and stick to their stylistic
guns. Now signed to Metro City Records - a division of Screaming Ferret
Wreckords http://www.screamingferret.com/
and distributed by Fontana/Universal –Lillian Axe plans to issue
the as-yet-untitled new platter in 2007. “After having been signed
to four different labels in our history, we learned a lot about what
a label should provide and what to look for in a relationship with one,”
explains Blaze. “What we wanted now was hard work and a label
that understands what Lillian Axe was about and what we were trying
to accomplish. We are a different breed of animal and not always easy
to put in a nice little package with a bow on top. I met Tim Koukos
through my longtime friend and associate Chip Ruggieri whose opinions
I greatly value. He said he had found the perfect home for Lillian.
Tim immediately was straightforward and told me of his label and plans
for the future.”
Screaming Ferret head Koukos shares Blaze’s enthusiasm for the
newly aligned union between label and band. “The more I talked
to Steve the more I could see were this image of the band that I have
in my mind comes from. I don’t think I’ve met a more modest
man in this industry yet. Besides being a sophisticated and complex
songwriter he has his hand in movies and acting. A true artistic vision
with realistic and down to earth morals and values that’s reflected
in the music. I swear, every time I hang up the phone with him I say
to myself, “What a cool dude…”
LILLIAN AXE is:
Derrick LeFevre - Lead Vocals
Steve Blaze - Lead Guitars/Vocals
Sam Poitevent - Guitars/Vocals
Eric Morris - Bass
Ken Koudelka - Drums

- Hexerei inks deal with Screaming Ferret Wreckords!
Hexerei, the New Hampshire based metal outfit has signed a two album
deal with Screaming Ferret Wreckords, the indie label based out of Southern
New Hampshire best known for acts like Nuclear Assault and Meliah Rage,
with full US distribution thru its label partners Fontana/Universal.
Hexerei gained notoriety in the New England area by performing in support
of their debut album "27" which was recorded at the legendary
New Alliance Studio in Boston, Massachusetts. New Alliance Studio studio
continues to be hallowed ground for hard and heavy music for 15 years
and has spawned benchmark records from Converge, Tree, Scissorfight
and Godsmack.
Since the albums release, the band has performed with Saliva, Alice
in Chains Shinedown, Drowning Pool, Lacuna Coil, Sevendust and was hand
picked by WAAF FM 107.3, the influential commercial rock station in
Boston, to open this past year's Family Values Tour with Korn, The Deftones,
Stone Sour, and Flyleaf.
Along with their nonstop shows around the New England area, the band
gained a national fanbase in the summer of 2006 when Hexerei toured
with Suicide City, the band featuring Billy Graziadei of Biohazard and
Jennifer Arroyo of Kittie.
Hexerei new studio album titled "Pay Your Dues" is tentatively
scheduled for full US release in April 2007, which will be followed
by a year of touring in support of the album.
Travis Pfenning, lead vocalist, states, "we are very excited about
this new album, and what the next year has in store for us. The band
continues to work very hard to put all the pieces of the puzzle in place
and now, that we have our management team solidified and a label that
is going to support us properly, the sky is the limit."

- NEW TESTAMENT COLLECTION, ‘THE SPITFIRE COLLECTION,’ RELEASED
FEBRUARY 13th!
Testament’s classic late ‘80s/early ‘90s period has
been well documented over the years by several compilations. However,
the group’s latter era has thus far slipped through the cracks
as far as compilations go. In February, this will change, as ‘The
Spitfire Collection’ will be issued.
Consisting of tracks from such Spitfire/Testament titles as ‘The
Gathering,’ ‘Demonic,’ ‘Live at the Fillmore,’
‘First Strike Still Deadly,’ and ‘Live in London,’
the fourteen track set chronicles an era that ultimately saw the original
Testament reunite for a successful 2005 tour. As a result, ‘The
Spitfire Collection’ features both live versions of such Testament
classics as “Practice What You Preach,” “Over the
Wall,” and “Souls of Black,” as well as such oft-overlooked
studio tracks as “Careful What You Wish For” and “The
Burning Times.” With such bands as Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer,
and Anthrax introducing the world to thrash metal during the 1980’s,
Testament was one of the few second wave thrash bands to make a strong
impression on the charts – resulting in such renowned releases
as 1988’s ‘New Order,’ 1989’s ‘Practice
What You Preach,’ 1990’s ‘Souls of Black,’ and
1992’s ‘The Ritual.’
TRACKS LISTING FOR ‘THE SPITFIRE COLLECTION’:
The New Order
Souls of Black
Practice What You Preach
Hatreds Rise
The Burning Times
John Doe
Careful What You Wish For
Down for Life
Riding the Snake
Over the Wall
The Preacher
Into the Pit
Trial by Fire

- MEDIA ALERT *THE CURSED*
The Cursed featuring vocalist Bobby "Blitz" Ellsworth (Overkill)
and former Hades guitarist Dan Lorenzo, have recently finished the recording
of their Screaming Ferret Wreckords debut tentatively titled "Room
Full of Sinners".
MP3s for two songs "Leven Als God in Frankrijk" (Living like
a God in France) and the single, "Evil, In The Bag" will be
added to The Cursed website http://www.the-cursed.net
as well as the recently launched The Cursed MySpace page, http://www.myspace.com/thecurseddotnet,
January 1st.
The band, who also feature bassist Job The Raver (Murder 1) and drummer
Mike Cristi (Non-Fiction) have placed their first official group photos
to both sites as well.
The Cursed recorded and mixed their debut CD for Screaming Ferret Wreckords
at Crystal Studios in New Jersey, before and after Overkill's successful
stint on the Gigantour which also featured Megadeth and Lamb of God.
Mike Koenig from Crystal Studios engineered.
"I can't wait for people to hear this CD" quotes Lorenzo.
"People have never heard Blitz sing like this, he has some Bon
Scott and Steven Tyler in him." Lorenzo continues, "our upcoming
single "Evil, In The Bag" is real catchy and there are some
really heavy songs on this CD, but there are a couple songs that will
surprise people, the entire disc is solid."
- METAL VETERANS LAUNCH 3 LEGGED DOGG, ISSUE DEBUT ALBUM, ‘FROZEN
SUMMER,’ VIA PERRIS RECORDS
Judging by the band members’ resumes, it’s understandable
to assume that 3 Legged Dogg would reflect old school ‘80s metal.
After all, its members are veterans of such world renowned metallic
institutions as Rainbow, Black Sabbath, Dio, Quiet Riot, David Lee Roth,
and Bonham. But upon hearing the quintet’s debut full length for
Perris Records, ‘Frozen Summer,’ the famous saying ‘You
should never judge a book by its cover’ comes into play, as tracks
such as “Frozen Summer” and “Give and Take Away”
have a decidedly modern hard rock edge.
Formed out of a California collective known as the Hollywood Allstarz,
Appice and West are 3 Legged Dogg’s founding members, while Bain,
Cavazo, and Young signed on soon after. And according to Appice, the
group’s chemistry was instant. “It works great. Carlos has
a lot of ideas, a lot of riffs and different things we tried. Jimmy
comes up with - out of nowhere - different changes and certain riffs
that he wrote himself. We just basically try them and if we like them,
we keep working on them. Chas hears a vocal line, then we'll keep working
on it and develop it into a song. And then Brian Young is more of a
bluesy/rock player - he's got a lot of different riffs.” The group
plans to hopefully play their first-ever live gigs sometime in 2007
– which may prove tricky, since Appice has been enlisted by Heaven
and Hell (which includes Ronnie James Dio, Tony Iommi, and Geezer Butler)
to tour for much of the year. “We were planning to go out and
do a tour in 2007, but now, the Black Sabbath thing is going to take
a lot of my time up, so everything is put on hold. We intend to do a
video in February, so we can have that at least on the internet. I think
we'll probably end up doing some shows, because Black Sabbath won't
go all the way for eight or nine months - there will be breaks here
and there.”
Despite the tricky scheduling, Appice is confident that 3 Legged Dogg
will continue on, and begin work on their sophomore effort soon. “We're
all talking about that. We got a good response on the first one. I think
what we'll do is start getting together and write some stuff for the
next CD.”
3 LEGGED DOGG:
Chas West (Bonham) - vocals
Carlos Cavazo (Quiet Riot) - guitar
Brian Young (David Lee Roth) -guitar
Jimmy Bain (Rainbow, Dio) - bass
Vinny Appice (Black Sabbath, Dio, Heaven and Hell) - drums
Track Listing for ‘Frozen Summer’:
1. Frozen Summer
2. Give And Take Away
3. Rain On My Parade
4. One Good Reason
5. Wasted Life
6. Long Way Back From Hell
7. Left For Dead
8. Bring The Hammer Down.

(instrumental) and "Respect the Wilderness" — entered

- MESHUGGAH new-old sound
According to an article in REVOLVER
Magazine the new MESHUGGAH album will sound a bit different to their
2005 47-minute opus "Catch Thirtythree": "We've got some
fast, intense songs and hectic, heavy stuff that draws from all the
things we've done in the past," says drummer Tomas Haake. "It's
so great to actually be playing drums again." Recording is planned
to be done until March – release in early may 2007.
- RAGE to introduce new drummer
German metal institution RAGE found a replacement for ex-drummer Mike
Terrana quite quickly. "We proudly present our new man on the drums,
André Hilgers. While working on the Nuclear Blast Anniversary
album we were very surprised how perfectly André`s style matched
our new song "Terrified". So it was obvious that we jammed
through the RAGE classics, and the sparks were flying immediately. Andre
had a lot of new ideas that fit our style perfectly and he brings a
lot of fresh blood and power to the band. We have loads of fun again
playing our music", Peavy and Victor had to say. The new drummer
is equally thrilled: "Of course I was very happy regarding the
request of the guys, and it’s a great honor belonging to RAGE
now after drummers like Jörg Michael, Efti or Mike Terrana, lambasting
the kettles. Meanwhile, we’ve started rehearsing and we will present
you a great show in Illingen, with some real highlights of the RAGE
history. I would like to wish Mike good luck with Masterplan and his
next projects. As for me, he’s still a great drummer who was always
raising the stakes for me", André Hilgers commented.
- Seduced by Suicide recording single
Almost one year after the release of Gothic Dream, first cd of Seduced
by Suicide, the gothic rock project formed by Earth (Blood Tears, Nitro
Sound Solutions) is already beginning the recordings of a new single,
"My Best Just For You", which will be released in a few months.
For this new work, Earth invited Aita, drummer of Burning in Hell, as
guest musician. They already worked together in several other projects,
including Burning in Hell, since Earth recorded vocals and was one of
the producers of their first cd.
Meanwhile Seduced by Suicide still have samples of Gothic Dream in the

- SCORPIONS In Talks To Play Next Year's OZZFEST?
Pat Martin of Sacramento's 98 Rock KRXQ reported on his radio show on
Tuesday (Dec. 12) that veteran German hard rockers SCORPIONS are in
talks to play next year's Ozzfest. "My source was a friend in the
recording studio with the band, who gave him the news," Pat explained
to a SCORPIONS fan who contacted him to find out more details. "Is
it official? Far from it, but a really good rumor at this point."
SCORPIONS arrived in Los Angeles in October to begin recording their
new album with songwriter/producer Desmond Child. Child, who has worked
with such high-profile pop/rock artists as AEROSMITH, BON JOVI, ALICE
COOPER, KISS, RICKY MARTIN, CHER, MICHAEL BOLTON and BONNIE TYLER, recently
worked with Michael Beinhorn, Meat Loaf and Jim Steinman as co-producer
on MEAT LOAF's "Bat Out Of Hell 3: The Monster Is Loose" CD,
and has also been mentioned as MÖTLEY CRÜE singer Vince Neil's
likely collaborator on Neil's upcoming solo album.
SCORPIONS' latest album, "Unbreakable", was released in the
U.S. in June 2004 through Sanctuary Records. The CD was recorded at
Peppermint Park Studio in Hannover, Germany and was mixed at Wisseloord
studios in Hilversum, Holland.

- IRON MAIDEN To Play U.K.'s Donington Park In June?
According to Last.fm, IRON MAIDEN has booked the U.K.'s Donington Park
for June 6, 2007 — two days before the Download festival kicks
off. This would, of course, fit with the rumors lately about MAIDEN
going on a festival tour next summer, and the fact that MAIDEN frontman
Bruce Dickinson has been announcing from the stage at recent European
gigs that the band will embark on a 2007 summer tour.
Donington Park has a great pedigree of holding rock concerts and festivals,
having played host to the Monsters of Rock concerts from the early '80s
to mid-'90s, when groups such as AC/DC, METALLICA and IRON MAIDEN —
who have each headlined three times — performed there. More recently,
it has played host to STEREOPHONICS' A Day At The Races event in 2001,
Ozzfest in 2002 and Download festival in 2003, headlined by IRON MAIDEN
and AUDIOSLAVE, who were late replacements for LIMP BIZKIT, who pulled
out of the festival. Download was held again in 2004, when METALLICA
returned to Donington, accompanied by a star-studded lineup including
SLIPKNOT, KORN, LINKIN PARK, SLAYER and a number of other high-profile
rock bands.
The 2005 Download festival was held in June, featuring BLACK SABBATH
as well as SYSTEM OF A DOWN, FEEDER and VELVET REVOLVER. In 2006, TOOL,
METALLICA and GUNS N' ROSES headlined the event.
For more information on Donington Park, visit www.donington-park.co.uk.
- KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, DRAGONFORCE, CHIMAIRA Tour To Kick Off Late
House of Blues, a Live Nation brand, has partnered with clothing and
lifestyle company No Fear in presenting Grammy-nominated Roadrunner
Records recording artists KILLSWITCH ENGAGE. Also featured on the bill
will be Roadrunner labelmates DRAGONFORCE, as well as CHIMAIRA, and
HE IS LEGEND. The 35-city trek commences February 21, 2007 at the House
of Blues in Atlantic City, NJ and concludes April 8 at the House of
Blues in Chicago, IL. Tickets go on sale January 12 and can be purchased
at www.hob.com and
www.LiveNation.com.
Check both web sites for information about more shows being added soon.
"Live Nation and House of Blues are ecstatic," says Kevin
Morrow, Senior Vice President of Entertainment at House of Blues, "to
partner with legendary clothing and lifestyle company No Fear in presenting
the North American tour for one of today's premier hard rock bands,
KILLSWITCH ENGAGE."
"Since the company's inception in 1990, No Fear has been heavily
involved in motocross, surfing, skating and wake," says Britt Galland,
No Fear Vice President of Marketing. "Through our presence in these
cultures, we've come to believe that music actually transcends all of
them. In 2006, we created Nofearbands.com and it quickly became our
fastest growing segment. To further establish our commitment to music,
we are proud to announce the No Fear Music Tour as well as our relationships
with House of Blues and the phenomenal band, KILLSWITCH ENGAGE. We want
to roll up our sleeves and put our fingerprints all over this thing.
It's not our style to just hang a shingle on a house and take off. We
want to reach out to our friends and customers, engage them, and make
this the best music tour of the year."
- METALLICA Drummer Performs With GUNS N' ROSES In Oakland
METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich joined GUNS N' ROSES on stage Friday,
December 15 during Axl Rose and company's headlining appearance at the
Oracle Arena (formerly Oakland Arena) in Oakland, California for a rendition
of the GN'R classic "Out Ta Get Me".
Launch Radio Networks reported last week that METALLICA has written
about 25 songs for its ninth studio effort and is now concentrating
on trimming that list to one album's worth of material, which it will
begin recording in January. Ulrich told Launch on December 5 that the
band's summer European tour, on which METALLICA played its classic 1986
album "Master of Puppets" in its entirety, paved the way for
the sound of the new album. "What I hear sounds very lively, very
spunky, got a lot of energy," he said. "I think that the shows
we played over the summer, we were definitely leaner and kind of in
better shape than we've been in a long time. I mean, having to deliver
'Master of Puppets' for three months this summer definitely revitalized
some of that stuff in us, and it's been kind of fun having that in the
back of our mind as we've been going through this process. I don't know
what else to say. It's a little early to put it into a one-sentence
soundbite on Blabbermouth, if you know what I mean."
Referring to the controversial, low-fi production on 2003's "St.
Anger", Ulrich said that he's "taken the drums out of the
cardboard boxes" this time, and that lead guitarist Kirk Hammett
will lay down guitar solos on this record.
The new disc will be produced by Rick Rubin and is expected out by late
2007.

I were close friends for more than 20 years. We have shared many, wonderful
Metal moments together . He was a true brother and will always be family
to me. I certainly do miss him as if he were one my own. I can almost
see his fist raised up from heaven, looking down here and feeling our
love. I hope that all of you will come out to remember this great man

credit to the Metal world".

legend. March 24th will be a night to remember and it's all for a great

- RAGE tons of work for smolski!
RAGE-guitarist Victor Smolski is currently working on a compilation
CD for the 20th anniversary of Nuclear Blast. Though having a lot of
work, he found some time to post news from the studio:
"Hi friends, Victor here! It's a great honor for me, working at
the compilation CD for the 20th anniversary of Nuclear Blast. It will
be an album containing ten songs of various Metal bands out of the Nuclear
Blast history, including a new RAGE song for which I composed, produced
and recorded all guitars, keyboards and bass. I ´ve received support
by Andre Hilgers (drums) and Peavy Wagner (lyrics). Exceptfor some vocal
parts, all songs were recorded at VPS studio in Hamm, where Charly Czajkovski
again did a great job.
During composing, I tried to make all songs in typical style and concerning
the pitch of the voice, much comfortable for the singer. I didn't expect
that, besides hearing out the different styles of the bands, the composing
and arranging, I would have so much stress with "office work such
as mailing and phoning. Thanks a lot to all singers for the good cooperation.
Special thanks to Andy Siry, Jaap Wagemaker and Achim Köhler, as
well, for their support!”
Here ´s some song examples for you:
“Bloodsucker” sung by Schmier, DESTRUCTION:Really thrashy
number with 200 double bass. The song deals with the current crisis
in Irac war and their causes (failed US politics)
“A Perfect Day” sung by Andi Deris, HELLOWEEN:Straight Helloween-style
Metal song with a catchy chorus. The song deals with the incalculability
of life and the associated fact that our end can overtake us any time.
“Ruling The World” sung by Tony Kakko, SONATA ARCTICA: Straight
Metal-tune with several voices and keyboard arrangements. The song is
about the arrogant power politics of the western Great Powers.

- ARCH ENEMY To Enter Studio In March
ARCH ENEMY guitarist Michael Amott has issued the following update:
"Looking back on 2006, we did a lot of cool stuff with ARCH ENEMY
— it was a year of 'Doomsday' touring and getting out there…
We had a great time — most of the time!
"The release of the 'Live Apocalypse' DVD and the awesome feedback
from the fans was also a highlight. "We will be continuing to rehearse
through the next few weeks, working on the new songs. We have already
written some 7-8 life-changing and ridiculously huge metal hymns; this
is all in my own (not so) humble opinion of course! You'll see... :-)
This stuff is SADISTIC!
"Totally looking forward to 2007 and all that it will bring, some
things are planned like the South American tour (which is going to be
so much fun I'm sure!) and the studio time we have booked for March/April.
I'm aching to get in the studio and lay these tunes down..."
- TRIVIUM Frontman Battles Urine-Filled Balloons At London Gig
A BLABBERMOUTH.NET
visitor by the name of George Byron-Roberts has submitted the following
report:
"TRIVIUM frontman Matt Heafy interrupted the band's set [as the
support act for IRON MAIDEN] at Earl's Court, London [Friday, Dec. 22]
to chide members of the audience after being subjected to a barrage
of urine-filled balloons and bottles. Heafy and bassist Paolo Gregoletto
were showered with urine during their performance of 'Like Light to
the Flies'. Heafy angrily declared that the act was 'really wrong' and
that if he saw anyone throwing things at the band he would see that
they were 'thrown the fuck out" and 'beaten the fuck up.'
"The left hand side of the stage had been rowdy with fervent disapproval
for TRIVIUM and their frontman from the beginning of their set, the
band being lambasted with cries of 'death to false metal' between each
of their songs; and throughout the set there was a constant exchange
of rude gestures between Heafy and the antagonists. An attempt to block
the missiles with a U.S. flag was shouted down by British fans, who
angrily turned on the American fans, a group of young men and women
who had travelled all the way from the USA to see TRIVIUM perform.
"Heafy's polemic (after battling through the rest of the song)
lasted almost five minutes. However IRON MAIDEN frontman Bruce Dickinson
was unusually quiet about the event, preferring to focus his rant on

was like being hit over the head with a concrete block.

how well she coped.
Ozzy told Hello! magazine: "If I were her I would have been screaming

"When I found out it was like someone had got a slab of concrete
and hit me with a big dose of reality. I thought cancer plus patient
equals death. The thought of losing her was more than I could bear."
The star of "The Osbournes" is delighted Sharon has such a
successful TV career with the U.K. talent show "X Factor"
but couldn't wait for the series to end so they can spend more time
together.

that she enjoys. I like watching it, but I've been a very lonely guy
