The program for Helsinki Metal Meeting clubs which are running along
with the main venue of Cable Factory has now been announced. Shows at
the legendary Tavastia club include TRACEDAWN, DEUTERONOMIUM, 45 DEGREE
WOMAN, DEATHSTARS, SONIC SYNDICATE, SABATON and AJATTARA.
The new venue of Dante’s Highlight features such bands as AMORAL,
OMNIUM GATHERUM, DISCARD, DARK FILTH FRATERNITY and DAUNTLESS. Check

The main event of the weekend, Finnish Metal Expo at the Cable Factory
on FEB 13.-14. has added two artists to complete the line up. Last addition
for Friday is the mystical CHAOSWEAVER. Saturday’s program is
completed by NORTHERN KINGS, the super group of Finnish metal, featuring
Tony Kakko, Marco Hietala, Jarkko Ahola and JP Leppäluoto. Also
appearing at the Finnish Metal Expo are BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, ENSIFERUM,
ANDRE MATOS and LEGION OF THE DAMNED, among others.

- Silentium - Amortean CD out at the end of January!
SILENTIUM, Masters of atmosphere are back with their fifth album "Amortean".
The release was produced by Kärtsy Hatakka of Waltari, the multitalented
world known musician also responsible for creating the soundtrack of
the highly successful video game Max Payne. "Amortean" is
symphonic, orchestral, epic and beautiful. A female choir also gives
a special vibe to the album.
Previous album "Seducia" introduced the new singer Riina Rinkinen
with her beautiful voice. Few steps backwards, a huge leap forward.
"Seducia" was fully written by keyboardist Sami Boman, on
"Amortean" most of the songs came through the hands of guitarist
Juha Lehtioksa, a few from Sami and one of the songs is written by the
singer Riina. All this leads to a bigger sound than before. The weeping
melodies are as essential in SILENTIUM's music as ever but possibly
even more beautiful.
On January SILENTIUM will team up with their country mates Swallow The
Sun to tour clubs in Finland. "Amortean" hits the stores at
the end of January through Dynamic Arts Records.

- Maegashira finish work on full-length debut; post new track
New Jersey doom 'n' roll bastards Maegashira have completed work on
their forthcoming full-length debut, The Stark Arctic. Comprised of
six songs, the hour-long album was recorded by Halfway To Gone vocalist/bassist
Lou Gorra at Redline Archiving in Little Silver, NJ, and will see distribution
through Connecticut's Spare Change Records (Negative Reaction, When
The Deadbolt Breaks, A Day Of Pigs). A January 20 release date has been
set for the album, now available for preorder.

- KYLESA complete new album, plot Japanese tour
The Savannah, Georgia-based KYLESA, who recently finished recording
their fourth studio album, will tour Japan for the first time early
next year. The seven-show trek will correspond with the official Japanese
release of the band's acclaimed 2006 album, "Time Will Fuse Its
Worth," on Red Cobalt Industries. Additional information about
the limited-edition release, which features new artwork and packaging,

WINTERS IN OSAKA have completed work on their next full-length. The
record, entitled Molded to Crawl, was recorded over a six-month span
– an absolute eternity for the insanely prolific trio, who also

BOYD) and record several other collaborative releases (including one

- INTO ETERNITY - premiere new video for “Time Immemorial”
& post Behind-The-Scenes footage online!
It has been an extremely productive and successful 2008 for Canadian
extreme progressive metal icons INTO ETERNITY, who wrapped up their
North American tour with Iced Earth a few weeks ago. This was preceded
by the band’s first Japanese tour supporting At The Gates and
Dillinger Escape Plan, their first full Canadian tour (Summer Slaughter
Canada) and a spring trek as direct support to progressive legends Symphony
X. The release of the band's first concept album, the critically acclaimed
“The Incurable Tragedy”, debuted at #17 on the US Billboard
Heatseekers chart, which also marked their highest first week sales.
Earlier this year, the band shot a video for the track “Time Immemorial.”

- Sepultura.... A-Lex is upon us
Sepultura from Brazil are a prime example of an intelligent thrash metal
act whose powerful compositions continue to tackle exciting and ingenious
subjects. 1996 saw the band devote their landmark release, Roots, to
the fate of the Xavante Indians on the border of Brazil and Bolivia;
in spring 2006 the musicians put to music an opus by the Italian poet
and philosopher, Dante Alighieri, on their album, Dante XXI. Now this
concept has reached a new climax: on their latest release, A-Lex, guitarist
Andreas Kisser and his three colleagues, Derrick Green (vocals), Paulo
Jr. (bass) and new addition Jean Dollabella (drums), have dedicated
themselves to Anthony Burgess's book A Clockwork Orange, creating an
awesome thrash metal opus around this timeless and exciting subject.
A-Lex will be available on Steamhammer/SPV January 27, 2009 and certainly
has what it takes to shake up the foundations of the metal scene: few
other albums from this genre sound as ambitious or impressive.
"A lot of people know Stanley Kubrick's film, A Clockwork Orange,
which is a movie classic, but few realize that the last chapter of the
book is missing from the film. And that’s what in my opinion is
extremely important for the message that Anthony Burgess wanted to convey:
it’s your own free will, your own free choice, in which environment
you choose to move," band mastermind Andreas Kisser explains his
interpretation of this historic publication. "Following his stay
in hospital, Alex, the book’s main character, returns to society,
meets old friends, finds a wife and starts a family. He makes this choice
of his own will, irrespective of what the government had in mind for
him", an interesting aspect which Sepultura underlines with their
typical hard-as-nails thrash metal compositions on A-Lex (an album title
with a double meaning: in Russian, "A-Lex" means something
like "lawless"). The recording is divided into four chapters,
the first three of which cover the familiar plot from the movie, while
chapter four reflects the final part of the story from the book. "Every
chapter, from 'Alex I' to 'Alex IV', starts with a brief introduction
which allows the listener to follow the story at all times," Kisser
explains.
Along with Sepultura’s familiar raw metal tunes, which are omnipresent
on the one-hour recording, they have authentically translated Alex’s
affinity with Ludwig van Beethoven: supported by classical symphonic
musicians from Sao Paulo, the track ‘Ludwig Van’ picks up
Beethoven’s 9th Symphony and transposes it into a heavy metal
context. This number is a definite must, and it would be impossible
to optimize this combination of classical music and savage thrash metal.
The material was produced by Sepultura and Stanley Soares at the Trama
Studios in Sao Paulo and mastered by George Marino at New York’s
Sterling Sound studios. A-Lex is the first Sepultura album to feature
new drummer Jean Dolabella, who joined the fold during the Dante XXI
tour. We've known Jean for more than three years; he’s from our
hometown of Belo Horizonte and joined us when Roy Mayorga left to team
up with Stone Sour," Kisser introduces his new drummer. "He’s
ten years younger than the other band members and has brought a new
approach into the band. Jean has an amazing amount of energy and motivation.
We're very happy to have him with us, and we're proud of the positive
impact he’s had on the material on A-Lex."
With Dolabella as Sepultura’s driving force and more outstanding
guitar work courtesy of Andreas Kisser, A-Lex proves to be a dynamic
and extremely haunting metal opus which was written in just three months
and created more or less on the basis of extended studio jams. The listener
feels this spontaneity and vibrancy in every single note. A-Lex will
be available in two versions: a regular jewel case and a vinyl gatefold
LP.

- LION'S SHARE – To Film “Judas Must Die” Video
Swedish melodic heavy metal masters LION'S SHARE will film a video for
the song "Judas Must Die" in Stockholm, Sweden with director
Josef Doukkali. LION'S SHARE previously worked with Doukkali on the
clip for the track "The Edge Of The Razor", from the "Emotional
Coma" album. The band's original decision to work with Doukkali
was based in part on the fact that his background was not in music video
but in narrative film projects, and that his more cinematic approach
would give the video a unique look and feel.
"Judas Must Die" comes off LION'S SHARE 's sixth album, "Dark
Hours", which is scheduled for release in March, 2009 via Blistering
Records. The CD was mixed and mastered at Fascination Street in Örebro,
Sweden by Jens Bogren, who has previously worked with OPETH, SYMPHONY
X, PARADISE LOST, AMON AMARTH etc. The new album features a guest appearance
by Michael Romeo of SYMPHONY X.
The band states, “The new songs are simply awesome and everybody
that have heard it, think it’s our best album to date. The red
thread lyric wise on this album is that all songs are about things that
happened in the late sixties; a decade known for many good things. However,
we're not describing the happy times of the 60's: We give you the Dark
Hours. Musically it’s more straight forward and faster than ever.
The songs are filled with energy and great hooks.”

- OLIGARQUIA: "Distilling Hatred" will be our most "old
school" album
- Brazilian death metal OLIGARQUIA is in studio recording its third
album, which will receive the name of "Distilling Hatred",
and according to the band members will be the their "most "old
school" album released so far". The recordings are taken place
in Top Noise Studio, with the production by the band and the sound engineers
Marcelo and Carlos A.
The upcoming release will present the band's new line-up, which brought
lots of positive changes to their work, musically and ideologically
speaking.Oligarquia is now a quintet formed by Max Hideo (vocals), Roque

- Pilgrimz sign with EMI Music Publishing and The Agency Group
The Danish metal act Pilgrimz, who recently released their debut album
“Boar Riders” through I Scream Records, have just signed
a publishing deal with EMI Music Publishing and a worldwide booking
deal with The Agency Group through Kalle Metz.
The deals with EMI Music Publishing and The Agency Group are just two
of the latest success stories coming from the Pilgrimz camp. Since Pilgrimz
signed a management agreement with Rune Walther (Dream Fire Agency)
in 2007 and later a booking deal with 3rd Tsunami Agency, the band has
released the critically acclaimed debut album “Boar Riders”,
performed at Roskilde Festival, SPOT Festival, Loud From The South and
MTV Headbangers Ball Tour. Most recently, the band won “Best video
of the year” at the Danish Metal Awards and the band was further
nominated in the two categories “Best debut album of the year”
and “Best live band of the year”. Furthermore, Pilgrimz
just been confirmed to perform at the expo-festival, by:Larm in Norway
