- VOIVOD to make album 'Piggy would be proud of'
Voivod drummer Away has issued the following update to fans regarding
their upcoming album and other projects for 2006:
"Dear Voivodians,
We will do our best to make a great record that Piggy would be proud
of as we worked very hard for the past two years on the new songs. Jasonic
has already put down his bass tracks and Glen Robinson and I will edit
Piggy's guitar tracks in December. We will track my drum parts and Snake's
vocals in Montreal in January. Then we'll mix it, get it mastered and
released as soon as possible via The End records in USA, Nuclear Blast
in Europe and Hypnotic-Linus/Universal in Canada.
In other news, I am still working on my long overdue art book, coming
out on Troubleman Unlimited in 2006. Also coming out next year, DVOD-2,
our second DVD which will be covering the 90's line-up with Eric Forrest.
Thanks for your patience!
Away
P.S. If you get a chance to see the movie Metal: A Headbanger's History
it is great and has a short interview with Piggy in it. We saw the Montreal
premiere a few weeks ago at the invitation of Sam and Scott the filmmakers
and they introduced the movie by dedicating it to Piggy, which was very
cool of them."

- PITBULLS IN THE NURSERY SIGN TO BLACK LOTUS RECORDS
Pitbulls In The Nursery (PITN) hail from Rambouillet, near Paris and
are ready to take the scene by force! Their name translates to a vibrant
mix of thrusting metal, groovy sounds and musical mastery! The result
is just pure alchemy!
Formed around 2001, soon after they released their first 3-track demo
Impact. Impact was sold out immediately and gained the band the appropriate
attention of the press and the fans alike. On this demo, echoes of Dying
Fetus, Death, Atheist and Messhuggah all combine to forge a unique PITN
kaleidoscope of sounds.
PITN are very active on stage. They have shared the bill with bands
such as Aborted, Gojira, Gronibard, Kaizen, No Return and others and
played at prestigious venues like the LA LOCO in Paris and L'USINE in
Geneva. Their shows are full of energy& it is a band with this rare
magical touch that can turn the audiences on with ease. An unbelievable
raging machine spiting furious metal on all directions!
Their full-length debut album entitled Lunatic will introduce you to
the world of PITN. It was recorded at the Studio des Milans (Gojira,
Psykup, Trepalium) during a three-week period and was mastered by Jean
Pierre Bouquet (Loudblast, Watcha, Lofofora). Their record deal with
Black Lotus will definitely get them amongst the cream of extreme metal
acts!
Lunatic is set for release for February 2006. A US release is set for
April 2006.

- MELECHESH UPDATE
Proscriptor and Melechesh will not be working together on recording
the upcoming Melechesh album. This was a mutual decision that had to
be taken due to the geographic circumstances and overlapping time schedules.
Proscriptor has been a member of Melechesh since 1999 and has recorded
two albums with them: Djinn and Sphynx. Both the Melechesh members and
Proscriptor had to take this decision; however, this does not affect
their comradeship and possibilities for future cooperation.
"We have nothing but high regards for Proscriptor. He is one of
the very few true artists that I know of, a dear friend and we appreciate
his talent. But this cross Atlantic distance was becoming quite impractical
and limited the creative inputs of both of us. I feel confident that
we will cooperate musically again in one way or another, but it was
simply impossible to do so for the upcoming Melechesh album. Should
time permit though, Proscriptor may provide guest vocals on the upcoming
(4th) Melechesh album. One thing is for sure: he certainly deserves
the medal of honor" Quoted Melechesh founder Ashmedi
Osmose Productions/The End Records recently released a double digipack
Absu anthology compilation CD Mythological Occult Metal 1991-2001. News
on the upcoming Melechesh album will follow.

- TRAIL OF TEARS CANCEL MEXICAN TOUR
It is with a feeling of sadness and anger that we are writing these
words. Having worked for months we were thrilled to finally confirm
the Free Fall into Fear tour of Mexico due to take place in November
2005. As it turns out it is not possible to go through with the tour
due to severe neglect and lack of responsibility by the organisor.
First of all we would like to offer our sincere apologies to all the
Mexican fans, it is important for us that you know that this was our
number one priority for this year and something that we had all been
looking forward to with great excitement.
Then some words regarding the cancellation. The organisor of this tour,
HOD Productions/AlterEgo Entertainment with promoter Carlos Hernandez
is the sole reason why we find ourselves in this frustrating situation.
The organisor has failed to fulfill his responsibilities towards the
band in the utmost amateuristic way. We see it as our duty to warn everyone
in the scene against the organisor so that no-one has to experience
what we are now going through.
The worst thing is that we have not been given any time to look for
alternative solutions in order to substitute these shows, thus resulting
in severe financial loss for the band. Since we do not have time to
book alternative shows for this period it means that the band stands
completely without income for the entire period. We have also turned
down very attractive offers in Europe so that the Mexican tour would
become a reality.
Again we would like to apologize to all of you who had been looking
forward to the tour and we ask for your understanding in this difficult
case. We will not be broken by this however, and promise you all that
we will be back with a vengeance as soon as we have the chance!
Sincerely,
Ronny, Kjetil, Kjell, Runar, Terje and Jonathan.

- MASTODON to issue first official DVD release; collection of first
recordings
Atlanta hard rock giants MASTODON will issue their first official DVD
and a collection of their earliest recordings in February through Relapse
Records.
The DVD, entitled The Workhorse Chronicles, features over three hours
of exclusive MASTODON footage. The Workhorse Chronicles contains in-depth
interviews with each band member, candid behind-the-scenes shots from
the band's personal video archives and a career spanning range of live
performances - including rare footage of the band in their initial form
as a five piece through to sold-out clubs worldwide. Bassist Troy Sanders
comments, "We had been wanting to do a DVD for awhile, and figured
that with all that has happened now would be the right time to document
our early years. Consider it [the DVD] an invitation to walk the paths
we've traveled and see what lies ahead." The Workhorse Chronicles
is set for a February 21st release in North America (February 28th release
in Europe).
MASTODON will also issue Call of the Mastodon, a remixed and remastered
collection of their first-ever recording session, in February. Comprised
of the first nine tracks the young quartet had ever written, Call of
the Mastodon is an audio document of a then-new band finding its own
space. Sanders describes Call of the Mastodon as "the first real
monster we ever created. It's the original beast laid to tape complete
with the dirt and drive." The nine tracks (some of whose original
recordings comprised the Lifesblood mini-CD) were remixed and remastered
by original engineer Matt Washburn at Atlanta's Ledbelly Sound, and
will feature all new packaging courtesy of the band's longtime artist
Paul Romano. Call of the Mastodon is set for a February 7th release
in North America (January 30th release in Europe).

- ZYKLON BEGIN RECORDING OF THIRD ALBUM
Philadelphia: Zyklon have begun recording of their third album, tentatively
titled Disintegrate. The album is being recorded at Akkerhaugen Lydstudio
in Norway with time already set at Studio Fredman for the album's mix
in early February. The band have confirmed nine song titles for the
album, including "Wrenched," "Cold Grave," "Disintegrate,"
"In Hindsight," "Skinned and Endangered," "Vulture,"
"Subversive Faith," "Underdog," "Ways of the
World," and "Vile Ritual."
As recording starts the band are also hard at work with final edits
on their planned first dvd, titled Storm Detonation Live. Recorded at
Germany's 2004 Party San Festival, the dvd will contain the band's live
show plus exclusive on-the-road/backstage footage, an exclusive look
into reheasals for the band's new album and both "Psyklon Aeon"
and "Core Solution" videos.
Guitarist Samoth says, “we’ve just hit the studio this past
week and already on the second day of tracking Trym (drums) has nailed
down seven tracks. So we’re on the go! Some of the material is
really heavy while other tracks are blasting fast. We’re really
excited to finally be recording this album and are eager to start tracking
guitars soon. We’re very confident that it will be a solid follow-up
to Aeon."
Candlelight is planning a spring release for both Disintegrate and Storm
Denotation Live.
- Tobi, webmaster of the long-running German ICED EARTH fan site Iced
Realm, has decided to shut down the site for good, citing several reasons
for his decision, including "the general atmosphere" of the
site's discussion forum, money, and his less-than-favorable view of
the band's recent musical output. An excerpt from his letter announcing
his decision reads as follows:
"[ICED EARTH] aren't even close to being my favorite band anymore.
I still love the first three albums, obviously, and still like the three
albums that followed, but that's it. I don't remember the last time
I listened to an ICED EARTH album all the way through.
"The ICED EARTH I loved doesn't exist anymore. Without Matt's [Barlow,
ex-ICED EARTH singer] voice, they just aren't the same. I don't know
whether he would've been able to save 'The Glorious Burden' [the band's
latest studio album], but Tim [Owens, current ICED EARTH frontman] most
certainly couldn't. The new DEMONS & WIZARDS album [featuring ICED
EARTH mainman Jon Schaffer], on closer inspection, proved to be more
of the same as well. Nowadays there are about 2 1/2 songs on there I
can actually listen to all the way through. Schaffer, let's face it,
has lost it. I don't even wanna know how the [upcoming ICED EARTH] 'Something
Wicked' concept albums will sound.
"As I mentioned earlier, the boards were the only reason the site
still exists...so now the site and the boards will go together. It simply
doesn't make sense for me to continue running an ICED EARTH site when
all I can do upon reading a new interview with Jon is laugh at his endless
repetitions of how the next album will be the most killerest thing ever
and that he slept in abandoned houses when he was 16.
"The time has come for someone else to run an ICED EARTH fanpage,
someone who still is dedicated to the band the same way that I once
was."
- New LULLACRY / NOCTURNAL RITES Albums To Share Jan. 24, 2006 Release
Date
New albums from Finland’s LULLACRY and Sweden’s NOCTURNAL
RITES will see North American release on Jan. 24. Female fronted rock
band LULLACRY fire all 8-cylinders throughout Vol. 4’s 10-tracks.
A pedal pushing crimson joyride straight down a denim and leather studded
highway, Vol. 4’s supercharged rhythms take control while Tanja
Lainio’s enchanting vocals mesmerize. “Mixing modern, hard
edged rock with sweet pop vocals and rowdy 80’s abandon”
(Outburn), Crucify My Heart, LULLACRY’s 2003 release, “bridged
the gap between Pat Benatar and nü metal guitar power” (Lollipop).
Supporting Nightwish on their sold-out 2004 tour, North American audiences
were introduced to their mesmerizing live performance. “A natural
pop-diva” (Alternative Press) “whose voice will lure you
to her lair” (CMJ), Tanja’s crowd-pleasing stage presence
made minions of concertgoers. The New Year and the new album will see
Lullacry seduce their way into your heart.
Blending melodic metal and powerful hard rock with a deadly progressive
thread, Sweden’s NOCTURNAL RITES crown their 10 years together
with Grand Illusion. Driven by thundering double-bass drums, authoritative
vocal lines, along with gracefully fluid rhythm and solo duel guitar
work, the new album captivates as well as commands. Developing “a
harder and heavier sound” (Outburn), NOCTURNAL RITES “have
been evolving into one of power metal’s most heroic acts”
(Kerrang). Touring extensively across Europe and Japan with Nightwish,
Gamma Ray, Nevermore, Overkill, Hammerfall and more and performing at
every major European Metal festival (Dynamo, Wacken Open Air, Sweden
Rock, etc.), the band has converted legions of fans worldwide. New World
Messiah, their 2003 release, was praised as “fantastically brilliant
from start to end” (BW&BK). Grand Illusion, which features
guest performances from members of Hammerfall, Stratovarius, Evergrey
and Naglfar, along with cover art by Axel Hermann (Dream Evil, In Flames)
and a CD-ROM containing video extras, is sure to surpass fans’
every expectation.
- MORTIIS RETURNS TO NORWAY AFTER SUCCESSFUL
BLACKEST OF THE BLACK TOUR APPEARANCES
NEW YORK – Mortiis has returned home to Norway after a successful
U.S. run on the Blackest of the Black tour.
The industrial rock band was chosen to play alongside headliner Danzig
(joined by former Misfit Doyle), Chimaira, Behemoth, Himsa, and The
Agony Scene.
“It was great to finally be able to return to the U.S.,”
said Mortiis’ namesake and leader, who toured America in 1999
with goth legends Christian Death. “We’ve had a bunch of
offers to come over during the years but it always fell through for
various reasons, so that made it extra cool for us to finally get over
there and play our new stuff.”
Mortiis’ sound has evolved drastically since the 1999 tour, so
the band was especially excited to present its newer music to American
audiences. “It was important to us to show people how much we’ve
changed,” Mortiis said.
Mortiis began his journey down an ever-evolving path in the early ‘90s
as a singular mastermind who a decade later would be the namesake of
Mortiis’ full-band incarnation. Mortiis – the man and the
band - have traveled many musical paths over the course of their career,
with each release stepping further away from the last and expanding
into new territories. The Mortiis of today takes the darkness of the
earlier ambient creations and fuses it with deep-seated anger and aggression.
“The Grudge,” Mortiis’s latest release, is a twisted
mixture of electronics, fierce guitars, and hard-hitting drumming.
The shocking end to Mortiis’ set saw the frontman removing his
elfin pointy nose mask to reveal his human form. “We only tried
this once before at a show in Norway, and it was cool to see people’s
faces when the mask came off,” he said.Mortiis plans to return
to the U.S. in the near future for more touring.
“We’re all very excited about this idea and can't wait to
return, do longer sets and go to the places we missed this time,”
said Mortiis.
A day-by-day tour diary is available on Mortiis’ website.

- Teen Wearing SLIPKNOT Jumpsuit Causes Jail To Be Placed On Lockdown
Penne Usher of the Auburn Journal is reporting that a Californian teenager's
SLIPKNOT jumpsuit created quit a stir and prompted the Placer County
Jail to be placed on lockdown.
Dispatchers at the Placer County Sheriff's Department received a call
Sunday afternoon reporting a man wearing an orange inmate jumpsuit and
shackles getting into a car at the Taco Bell on Highway 49 and Luther
Road in Auburn, officials said.
To ensure one of Placer County's inmates hadn't decided to leave jail
early for a little trick or treating, officials slammed the doors shut.
"As a precaution they locked down the entire jail," said Lt.
George Malim, spokesman for the Placer County Sheriff's Department.
"When you hear something like that, you err on the side of caution."
Fear not, all the inmates were present and accounted for. Patrol officers
confirmed the man in the costume was not an escapee.
Eddie Hail, 17, of Auburn, had no idea Monday that his costume had caused
such a stir. When learning that the jail was placed on lockdown, Hail
replied, "Oops."
"They actually thought I was a convict?" Hail asked.
His girlfriend bought him the jumpsuit so he could dress up as a member
of the band SLIPKNOT. But, together they decided he looked better as
a convict.
"I just decided to walk around in the costume," Hail said.
"The police came out and asked if anyone saw a guy in an orange
jumpsuit."
Taco Bell employees explained to deputies that the inmate was really
the boyfriend of one of the employees.

- MOTORHEAD's LEMMY Tells Welsh Assembly: Legalize Heroin
Daniel Davies of icWales has issued the following report:
Heavy metal hellraiser Lemmy used a Tory Party platform to advocate
legalising heroin today.
The MOTORHEAD frontman was invited to the Welsh Assembly to give his
"message" on drugs by Tory AM William Graham.
Pin-striped Mr Graham, AM for South Wales East, said he had been moved
by Lemmy's account on a Channel 4 documentary of how heroin abuse wrecked
lives.
Lemmy, real name Ian Kilminster, said the only way to tackle "the
single most destructive drug in the world" was to legalise it.
"I have never had heroin but since I moved to London from north
Wales in '67 I have mixed with junkies on a casual and almost daily
basis," he said.
"I also lived with a young woman who tried heroin just to see what
it was like. It killed her three years later.
"I hate the idea even as I say it, but I do believe the only way
to treat heroin is to legalize it."
He said legalizing the drug would wipe out dealers and stop criminalizing
young people.
Its sale would generate tax revenue, "which I am sure would appeal
to you all," he told the crowd of politicians and their staff in
the Assembly's milling area.
Lemmy, who grew up on Anglesey, north Wales, said the problem of heroin
was a "contagion'" and "junkies who don't die become
Typhoid Marys spreading the infection."
"If it were legal and on a prescription, then at least two-thirds
of the dealers would disappear, you would have records of who was and
wasn't using it."
If you send a young heroin user to prison he will "certainly be
a criminal when he comes out."
"Probably, they will also be brutally sodomised by long-term prisoners
and polarised against society in general, and force of law in particular."
Reading from a pre-written speech, he went on: "You have tried
heavier and heavier policing - it hasn't worked has it?
"Know why? It's because you cannot keep people from doing what
makes them feel good.
"If a junkie has a regular supply of heroin, most are quite able
to do a job.
"They will never rehabilitate until somebody - you - gives them
a chance to."
However the singer refused to comment on other drugs. Despite boasting
in interviews of his tolerance for Jack Daniels, he would only answer
questions about heroin.
"Heroin is the only one I have seen anybody die of," he said
"You have tried everything else and it hasn't worked."
Asked if he agreed with the rocker, Mr Graham said: "Lemmy has
an alternative solution to the one presently being tried. The message
is against drugs."
Afterwards a Conservative spokesman stressed the party did not share
Lemmy's policy.
"It was Lemmy who made the comment," he said.

- The Ultimate VENOM Box Set, MMV
Available November 8th through Sanctuary Records
Many bands have seemingly made a deal with the devil to mark their place
in the annals of heavy metal history, but Venom was perhaps the first
to outwardly flaunt such a pact and easily among the most influential.
With their 1981 debut album “Welcome To Hell” and the ominous
chant of, “Evil…In league with Satan!,” Venom declared
war on the status quo, spit in the face of the very notion of common
decency, and set the pace for what was to come in the world of extreme
music. The British trio of alcohol-fueled, evil-minded wild men created
a legacy unlike any other, coining the phrase “black metal”
and influencing such juggernauts as Slayer and Metallica. Indeed, the
very image of Cronos, Mantas and Abaddon, as well as the pentagrams
and inverted crosses that adorned their album covers, helped bring an
image and an attitude to heavy metal that is still poignant to this
day. MMV is a long overdue, four disc testament to the legacy of Venom.
MMV is a trek into the past, featuring demos, outtakes, rarities, a
radio interview and alternative versions of songs. Such impactful Venom
classics as “Black Metal”, “In League With Satan”,
“Live Like An Angel (Die Like A Devil)”, “Welcome
To Hell”, “Bloodlust” and “Acid Queen”
are all represented in fully re-mastered form. Also included is a full
disc of material from the Assault album series. Re-mastered and assembled
by Cronos himself, the four disc collection comes packaged in a 6”x12”
box, emblazoned with Venom’s distinct logo and baphomet design.
The box set includes a 60 page booklet and collector’s poster.
MMV’s release comes at a very appropriate time: 2005 marks the
25th anniversary of Venom’s storied career. Any metal enthusiast
should make room in their collection for this audio-history of a band
that changed the face of metal forever.

- “Rainbow Six: Lockdown Soundtrack” to be Released November
15th Through Calvin Records
Produced By Fear Factory’s Raymond Herrera, CD to Feature Such
Heavy-Hitters as Soilwork, Chimaira Trivium, Strapping Young Lad and
More
What do you get when you mix Fear Factory, Trivium, Chimaira and Soilwork
with the likes of Killing Zone, Strapping Young Lad and Not Forgotten?
One bad-ass metal compilation that is sure to shake the music industry
to its core. Produced by Fear Factory drummer Raymond Herrera and partner
Laddie Ervin (3Volution Productions), these artists and more will be
featured on the new “Rainbow Six: Lockdown Soundtrack” which
hits stores November 15th courtesy of Calvin Records.
Rainbow Six is currently one of the top-selling video games for PSP,
X-Box, Game Cube and Playstation 2. Its accompanying soundtrack is just
one of few that has been released as a stand-alone compilation. However
Herrera, who founded 3Volution, a voice-over, music and sound effects
company for the video game industry, says that he sees the “Rainbow
Six: Lockdown Soundtrack” as just the beginning of a new trend
in entertainment.
“There’s a natural synergy between the gaming world and
the music business,” he says. “With all of the advances
in technology and the lines quickly being blurred, I believe that relationships
like this are going to become the norm and not the exception. I am just
excited to be on the ground floor of it all.”
The soundtrack includes some of the bands’ biggest hits like Soilwork’s
“Stabbing the Drama,” Chimaira’s “Eyes of a
Criminal” and Not Forgotten’s “Waiting.” Fear
Factory recorded the exclusive track “Lockdown” as well
as their version of the Rainbow Six theme just for the album.
Being distributed to all major chains, independents and big-box outlets,
the “Rainbow Six: Lockdown Soundtrack” will also include
a bonus DVD with four music videos, live interviews with Herrera, a
virtual comic, e-coupon and a game trailer as part of the label’s
value-added packaging plan.
“We wanted to give consumers something that was truly unique,”
said Mike Catain, president of Calvin Records. “I believe that
this is an important project for both the video game and music communities.”
While this release is Calvin Records’ first within the video game
industry, Catain says that it certainly isn’t its last. "This
release emphasizes Calvin's Video Game Soundtrack initiative. We are
actively pursuing companies and bands that can bring us into this world,”
he said.
The official tracklisting includes:
All My Life - Killing Zone
Lockdown - Fear Factory
Unstable - Kush
Never Forget - Not Forgotten
Game Over - Last Amanda
Waiting - Not Forgotten
Rainbow Six Lockdown Theme - Fear Factory
Stabbing the Drama - Soilwork

- Spitfire Records To Release SLAVE TO THE SYSTEM
In February 2006
Self-titled Debut Features Members of Brother Cane and Queensrÿche
"We wanted to make music without knowing what to expect and with
boundaries left open," says drummer Scott Rockenfield of Slave
To The System. Rockenfield, along with vocalist/guitarist Damon Johnson,
guitarist/vocalist Kelly Gray and bassist Roman Glick, set out to do
something they had never done before: they wanted to create music without
rules, without corporate influence, and without being part of "the
system".
"We weren’t thinking about demographics or sales," adds
Johnson. "Everybody just wanted to rock out and start something
new and unique and the result is a project that we’re very excited
about, like kids starting their first band. The spirit of fearlessness
is something we wanted to embody in our music "
Indeed, Slave To The System is something different. It seems impossible
that such a solid album was written and recorded in a mere three weeks.
The band members combine their various influences and approaches to
create something that will appeal to a broad spectrum of listeners.
By pooling their talents, the members of Slave To The System evoke music
that is both reminiscent of hard rock veterans like The Who, Led Zeppelin,
Deep Purple and Thin Lizzy, as well as a younger breed of music akin
to Audioslave and Velvet Revolver. "This band rocks a little harder,"
says Johnson. "We’ve made 30 or 40 records between the four
of us...For once, we didn’t feel the pressure to write on a deadline."
The title track is a lyrical mission statement for the band. "You
must believe in all you do / That better days are coming soon / So open
up your very soul / And lay it out, they will behold / And if you do,
you'll never be / A slave to the system." Other powerful songs
like “Stigmata”, “Cruz Out Of Control” and “Live
This Life” really hammer home the fact that this band is a force
to be reckoned with. Not bad for a group of guys just trying to have
some fun.
The musicianship and vocal delivery of Slave To The System rival any
Top 40 radio rock band. “The drums and the riff and the vocal
melody can all be the strength of a song,” explains Rockenfield.
“We find that strength and bring it to the forefront on each song.
When you have talented and experienced musicians working together, I
think it can be more difficult to write a good song than to overplay
and drown out the strengths. I think we succeeded in avoiding that potential
problem and the result is an album full of good, melodic rock songs.”
As for production, the band handled the responsibilities themselves.
“We all have studio experience, so we can avoid doing things the
‘normal’ way.”
A project started for the sake of self-satisfaction, Slave To The System
is an incredible testament to the creative power and musical talents
of four very impressive musicians.
A full track listing for Slave To The System comprises:
1. Stigmata
2. Ruby Wednesday
3. Slave To The System
4. Live This Life
5. Cruz Out Of Control
6. Abyss
7. Disinfected

9. Will You Be There

“Tales From The Strip” is a reference to the band’s

- Former CARCASS Frontman's Country/Blues Solo Album To Surface Early
Next Year - Nov. 9, 2005
Fractured Transmitter Records will be issuing former CARCASS bassist/vocalist
Jeff Walker's solo album consisting exclusively of country and blues
covers from artists including SKEETER DAVIS, HANK WILLIAMS, JOHNNY CASH,
CONNIE SMITH, and JOHN DENVER — albeit with a metallic spin. The
CD, entitled "Welcome to Carcass Cuntry", is tentatively scheduled
for release in February/March 2006.
"What I'm doing is kinda left of center to some extent," Walker
told Decibel magazine late last year. "It's really not that original
of an idea when you consider that [SOCIAL DISTORTION frontman] Mike
Ness has already done a country-hybrid album. But I don't think anyone
from a background like mine has done it, and done it with a bit of respect
— not turning it into a piss take."
"Welcome to Carcass Cuntry" will include contributions from
H.I.M. drummer Gas, H.I.M. frontman Ville Valo (bass/backing vocals),
former CARCASS guitarist/FIREBIRD frontman Bill Steer (lead guitar,
harmonica, slide guitar, vocals), AMORPHIS guitarists Esa Holopainen
and Tomi Koivusaari (guitars), keyboardist Santeri Kallio (keyboards)
and bassist Niclas Etelävuori (bass), ex-FAITH NO MORE bassist
Billy Gould, and former CARCASS drummer Ken Owen.
"I like the irony of me doing a solo album and being the most untalented
person on the album," Walker joked. "I could play the instruments
half-assed, but I think it's better to recognize your own failings and
get someone else in who could do it better."
- MOTORHEAD: 30th Anniversary Deluxe Expanded Editions
Available November 11th through Sanctuary Records
Classic Motörhead Albums Receive Special Treatment With Bonus Tracks,
Re-Mastering And Extensive Liner Notes
30 years ago, a man called “Lemmy” created something ugly,
loud and legendary. That something was Motörhead.
In celebration of three decades of one of the most underrated, influential,
and downright noisy bands to ever walk the face of the planet, Sanctuary
Records presents commemorative, 30th anniversary editions of some of
Motörhead’s most important and memorable albums, as well
as a collection of BBC archive recordings and vintage performances from
the 70s and 80s. Overkill, Bomber, Ace Of Spades, Iron Fist and No Remorse
have all been faithfully restored and enhanced for the momentous occasion.
Debuting in 1976 after Ian “Lemmy” Kilmister was unceremoniously
ejected from the space-rock band Hwawkwind, Motörhead was certainly
something “different”. “Different” in a good
way, of course. The band invented a musical genre known, appropriately
enough, as “speed metal”. Fast, crude, in-your-face and
abrasive as hell, there had never been anything else quite like Motörhead.
With the release of Overkill in 1979, Motörhead introduced the
lineup that would create some of the most important hard music albums
ever written: Lemmy on bass and grinding vocal duties, “Fast”
Eddie Clarke on guitar and “Philthy” Phil Taylor on drums.
It seems only fitting that the first album to feature this legendary
unit should receive the deluxe edition treatment. Such memorable tracks
as “Overkill”, “Stay Clean”, “Damage Case”
and “Tear Ya Down” are given a high-profile presentation,
while a second disc of bonus tracks, including b-sides and BBC radio
performances makes this release worth having.
Bomber, Motörhead’s second 1979 release and the album made
famous by the unique “bomber” shaped lighting rig that highlighted
the accompanying tour, features such awesome songs as “Bomber”
and “Stone Dead Forever”, as well as a bonus disc featuring
b-sides, alternate versions of album tracks, and the “Golden Years”
EP.
1980’s Ace Of Spades again features fully re-mastered takes of
the entire original album, including the seminal title track, perhaps
Motörhead’s most well-known anthem, as well as multiple alternate
versions of many of the album’s standout tracks and BBC radio
session outtakes.
Iron Fist, originally released in 1982, features a bonus disc with a
full live set performed in 1982 at Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto.
No Remorse, a “best-of” collection originally released in
1984, now features bonus tracks “Under The Knife”, “Masterplan”
and two tracks “No Class” and “Stand By Your Man”
with guest vocals by shock rock icon Wendy O’Williams.
Finally, the BBC Live & In-Session features 2 discs comprising 5
unique BBC recording sessions of Motörhead classics recorded between
1978 and 1986.
In 30 years, Motörhead has done as much as any ten lesser bands
and is still going strong. Such a unique legacy deserves recognition
and celebration, and the 30th Anniversary Deluxe Expanded Editions are
an appropriate tribute to such a storied career.

- JEFF WATERS READIES SCHIZO DELUXE, ANNIHILATOR'S 11TH STUDIO ALBUM
"This CD is dedicated to our fans and all metal fans," says
Jeff Waters of Canadian thrash-masters Annihilator. "This time
around I went right for the throat: 100% thrash metal with an attitude.
No Ballads. No Breaks in the Insanity. Schizo Deluxe is what a lot of
metal fans have been screaming at me to give them this time: Brutal
guitar riffs and solos, second-to-none musicianship, and back-to-the-roots
thrash/heavy metal songwriting."
To be released on Locomotive Records on November 8, Schizo Deluxe reaffirms
Waters' street cred and relevance to the metal scene in 2005. Since
its 1989 Alice In Hell debut, Annihilator has stayed true--with a few
creative alterations along the way, of course--to its singular mono-maniacal
devotion to that original spark that emanated out of San Francisco in
the mid-90s: THRASH.
Touring twice with Judas Priest; respected by metal guitarists worldwide;
selling over a million units overseas, Waters has carved out his own
chunk of metal history with Annihilator. While most '80s metal bands
didn't survive past the early '90s, Waters has persisted with his vision,
since 1984, of cutting the fat from the mix to only keep the choice
cuts. Schizo Deluxe has 10 such morsels: Maximum Satan, Drive, Warbird,
Plasma Zombies, Invite It, Like Father Like Gun, Pride, Too Far Gone,
Clare and Something Witchy.
Like the late Chuck Schuldiner, who spent his life defining and refining
his singular perspective into crystal-clear clarity, Waters has had
a similar career trajectory. As Schuldiner was to Death Metal, Waters
is to thrash. Thus, the release of Schizo Deluxe is cause for celebration
in the international metal community. Metal

- NEW POLICE REPORT REGARDING DIMEBAG'S DEATH
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- A new police report details a chaotic scene at
last December's Damageplan concert, with the tour manager getting wounded
as he tried to prevent a gunman from climbing on stage -- he then was
helped to the side where he watched former Pantera guitarist Dimebag
Darrell Abbott get shot in the head three times.
At the heavy metal concert, 25-year-old Nathan Gale killed four people,
including Abbott, before a Columbus policeman shot and killed Gale.
Nearly 300 witness interviews, released Thursday in a 627-page report,
showed people were confused about the sequence of the shootings at the
Alrosa Villa nightclub.
Witnesses said Gale sneaked into the concert before opening fire with
his 9mm handgun. Christopher Paluska, Damageplan's tour manager, said
he was shot first -- though it was previously believed Abbott was the
initial victim. Paluska was one of three people shot who survived. Another,
stage technician John Brooks, wrestled with Gale who pinned him as a
hostage as police moved toward the stage.
Officer James Niggemeyer then killed Gale with one shotgun blast while
he was holding Brooks hostage. Brooks told investigators although he
didn't hear Niggemeyer fire at Gale, he felt Gale's grip weaken and
hurried off the stage.
A grand jury cleared Niggemeyer, 31, of any wrongdoing in May. Gale
still had 35 bullets left when killed, investigators said. During the
melee, Damageplan drummer Vincent Abbott hid behind amplifiers and lead
singer Patrick Lachman jumped and screamed into the microphone for someone
to call the police.
Gale's mother has said her son was obsessed with Pantera -- who was
nominated for Grammys for best metal performance in 1995 for I'm Broken
and in 2001 for Revolution Is My Name -- and believed the band had stolen
song lyrics from him.
He previously told both his mother and a former employer that he was
diagnosed as a paranoid schizophrenic before he was discharged from
the Marines in October 2003, two years into a four-year stint. Military
records do not mention mental illness as the reason for the discharge.

Tampa-based death metal gurus CANNIBAL CORPSE have entered Mana Studios

to begin recording their 10th studio album. While speaking to BW&BK
about
his PATHS OF POSSESSION project (Promises In Blood - out now Metal Blade
Records), vocalist George Corpsegrinder Fisher provided the following
Cannibal Corpse update: "It's hard to imagine how we could get
much more brutal," he describes, "but if you love Cannibal
Corpse then you're gonna love this record. There are some songs that
are maybe not the fastest we've done, but they are definitely the heaviest.
I've been saying nut rumblers! We're working with Erik Rutan so we're
very confident that we'll get the production we want. When people hear
these songs they're gonna rumble your balls when you're sitting in a
chair. The fans are gonna love it. Why would I think anything else?
These guys write great fucking music and it's a pleasure to sing over
it. Even Rob (Barrett - guitar) wrote a song on this album. It's going

- VOMITORY announce the departure of long time guitarist Ulf Dalegren:
"We are very sorry to break the news that guitarist Ulf Dalegren
has decided to leave Vomitory after fifteen years in the band. Life
changes quite a lot during fifteen years and the priorities we need
to make change as well along with it. We hate to see Ulf go, but we
understand and respect his decision to 100%. We part our musical ways
as the best of friends and continue as drinking companions just as usual.
We wish him the best of luck with everything in the future! Uffe - we
salute you!" -Vomitory
In Ulf's own words: "It's with great sadness in my worm infested
death metal heart that I have to announce my departure from Vomitory.
I feel that there's no need for details. It's on a personal level, that's
it. All I can say is that there are no hard feelings between me and
the other guys. I wish them all the luck and hope that the band will
be out there spreading high quality death metal for many years to come.
I'll return, don't know where - don't know when. Death is meant to last
forever" -Ulf
Vomitory will be playing the scheduled shows in the UK, Ireland, The
Netherlands and Sweden in November just as planned. The bands good friend
Lord K Philipsson (The Project Hate/God Among Insects) will be helping
out on the November shows. Kudos to K! After the November shows Vomitory

- REMEMBERING NEVER - In The Studio: GOD SAVE US
New Full-length for Feb 06
(Ferret Records)
Remembering Never has just begun work on their next album to be titled
God Save us and will be released on Ferret Records in Feb 06. The Ft.
Lauderdale based band made up of Mean Pete (vocals), Grease (guitar),
Aldo (bass), Norm (guitar) and Danny (drums) are known for their sound
incorporating chaotic hardcore, shards of melody and strong political
and ethical lyrics. The band has sold over 35,000 copies of their previous
album Women & Children Die First, which they toured non-stop over
the last two years to support with such groups as Terror, The Acacia
Strain, Throwdown, Most Precious Blood, Eighteen Visions and many more.
The group are locked in the studio with famed producer Zeuss in his
Massachusetts based Planet Z studios for the next month. Known for his
ability to create some of the loudest and fullest albums including work
with Madball, Shadows Fall, Hatebreed and Throwdown it was actually
his work on Blood Has Been Shed's recent album that won over Remembering
Never to working with him. The vocalist of Blood Has Been Shed is Howard
Jones who also sings in a little band called Killswitch Engage and also
manages Remembering Never. When asked about the new album, Mean Pete
responded "Well everyone progresses, so there are definitely natural
changes in the music over time, but it's Remembering Never. In the lyric
department it's the most personal album I've ever written." That
means furious things are in store as Remembering Never is at the fore
of bringing the message back into hardcore. The album booklet for Women
And Children Die First ends with the statement from Mean Pete: "Being
in a hardcore band, it is my privilege and my responsibility to share
ideas." From vegetarianism to environmentalism to the war, Remembering
Never ambitiously tackles socio-political issues of all realms. Metal

- SUSPERIA HIT TOP 20
Melodic metallers SUSPERIA, have taken their heavy sounds to the masses
in their native Norway with the release of their new EP Devil May Care.
The band entered the singles charts for the first time in their career
last week when the EP made it's debut at Number 21 on Norway's Official
Hit List. The EP has climbed a further two places to Number 19 in the
past seven days. As a result, the band have created history by becoming
the first home grown act in the metal genre to achieve a Top 20 hit
in the country. In the process they have caused a stir among the pop
orientated releases that usually dominates the Norwegian charts. The
band currently lie between Mariah Carey and Kelly Clarkson in a chart
that also contains Depeche Mode and Robbie Williams.
Bass guitarist Memnock commented with a wry grin that, "It's nice
to be the thorn between two roses. On a serious note though, this is
a great achievement for Susperia and it's good to see that Norwegian
metal acts are being recognised by a wider audience. It's nice to make
the popstars feel a little uncomfortable once in a while"
Devil May Care was released in Europe through TABU Recordings as a special
edition CD. The EP features a combination of original and cover songs
that have been drawn from various recording sessions.Tracks appearing
on the release are the Unlimited album track Devil May Care, new song
Venting The Anger and three covers, Lack Of Comprehension originally
recorded by Death, Wild Child originally recorded by WASP and a version
of The Sun Always Shines On TV - a worldwide hit for fellow Norwegians
A-Ha. As an added bonus the release contains the promo videos for Chemistry
and Devil May Care as well as screensavers, wallpapers and booklet picture
gallery. The EP was completed at StrandStudio in Oslo, Norway. Production
duties were handled by the band and engineered by Marius Strand
SUSPERIA have gone from strength to strength since the release 2004's
critically acclaimed album Unlimited, which was recognised with a nomination
in the Metal category of Norway's prestigious Alarm Awards. Sales of
the CD have gone on to exceed those of the bands' previous albums which
were released through the Nuclear Blast label. A tour with Bay area
thrash legends Testament on their Reunion tour earlier this year further
boosted the bands profile.
The band - Athera (vocals), Elvorn and Cyrus (guitars) Memnock (bass
guitar), Tjodalv (drums) - have a live show lined up at the John Dee,
Oslo Norway on Saturday 22nd October. Support comes from Mindgrinder.
A European tour is currently being lined up for December to promote

- NAPALM RECORDS SIGNS KAMPFAR
Napalm Records is extremely pleased to announce that KAMPFAR have joined
our roster of talented artists and are currently working on their debut

classics under their bulletbelts, 1997's Mellom Skogkledde Aaser and
1999's Fra Underverdenen, and their as-yet-untitled next masterpiece

No US release date is confirmed as of this writing, but expect the record
to drop later on in 2006. Spread the word, and prepare for reckoning.
- GIANT SQUID signs to THE END RECORDS
Giant Squid, a sonic colossus a prowl in the Northern California music
scene since 2002, builds an overwhelming wall of gorgeous melody that
is as likely to crumble into abyssal serenity, as it is to rupture forth
waves of down-tuned guitar doom. Expect epic fuzz tones, saturated in
analog synthesizer sounds, giving way to delicate breaks of clean tranquility.
Bizarre song titles referring to marine life and historical tragedies
are the norm as Giant Squid's cinematic soundscapes are soaked with
imagery of nautical desolation and mountainous solitude.
Three haunting voices swell from husband and wife guitar players, Aaron
and Aurielle Gregory, and the soulful, keyboard virtuoso, Andy Southard,
forming a combined vocal range that reaches down to the darkest depths
and up to the highest tides. This trio of drastically dynamic sirens
dart in and out from one another while telling melodious tales of lost
loved ones, unbeatable odds, cannibalistic friendships, and... sharks
(usually in a metaphorical sense). The unorthodox bass-guitar of Bryan
Beeson slithers through the nether regions of Giant Squid's music like
some unseen cephalopodic monster, always on top of the precise and perpetual
movement of Mike Conroy's drumming, as if the beats themselves were
its prey.
Giant Squid garnered the attention of eclectic indie-metal label The
End Records with its self-released first album, Metridium Field, engineered
by legendary veteran producer of heavy music, Billy Anderson (Neurosis,
Melvins, High On Fire, Mr. Bungle). The band signed a deal with The
End in 2005. This original release, featuring the concussion-inducing
beats of legendary Sacramento drummer Jason Divencenzo, (Red Tape--
Roadrunner Records) will be fully re-mixed with added vocals and instrumentation
by Billy Anderson, and then re-released in a beautiful new digipak highlighting
the original cover art of Aurielle Gregory.
Any fan of artistically intelligent and organically heavy indie-rock
music, in the vein of Isis, Sonic Youth, Pleasure Forever, Black Heart
Procession, Tarantula Hawk, My Bloody Valentine, Pelican, Mogwai, Ulver,
Neurosis, Tarental, High on Fire, or classic rock and punk like Black
Sabbath and the Subhumans, should appreciate the band's worship of guitar
overdrive, somber interludes, and tide-like build ups.
LineUp:
Andy Southard (keyboard, vocals, pants)
Mike Conroy (drums, theories)
Aurielle Gregory (guitar, vocals, wife)
Bryan Beeson (bass, final fantasy)
Aaron Gregory (guitar, vocals, husband)

- ORANGE SKY SET TO JOIN YNGWIE MALMSTEEN TOUR TO PROMOTE ITS
GRANITE RECORDS DEBUT CD 'UPSTAIRS' AND DVD 'LIVE IN TRINIDAD'
Trinidad-based rock band Orange Sky has just been named the opening
act for the upcoming fall 2005 U.S. tour by guitar wizard Yngwie Malmsteen.
Orange Sky will be promoting its Granite Records debut CD 'Upstairs'
and DVD 'Live In Trinidad' on the 17-date run of shows from October
31 to December 7.
Band members include lead vocalist/lead guitarist/songwriter Nigel Rojas,
bass guitarist/vocalist Nicholas Rojas, rhythm guitarist Adam Murray,
keyboardist/vocalist Richard Hall and drummer/vocalist Obasi Springer.
Nigel and Nicholas are brothers.
"We feel really honored to be touring with Yngwie Malmsteen,"
Nigel Rojas says. "When we were growing up, his posters were on
our walls. As young guitar players, Nicholas and I especially loved
him. He's a guitar god."
Deeply influenced by a broad range of genres including everything from
heavy metal and hard rock to pop to reggae, Orange Sky's music is excitingly
original and richly melodic. The exotic Caribbean textures that occur
naturally in the versatile band's songs guarantee listeners a sonic
experience like no other.
From a musical standpoint, Orange Sky makes a perfect touring partner
for an eclectic range of artists. In Trinidad, Orange Sky has opened
for the likes of Skid Row, Six Feet Under, Hatebreed and Ludacris.
"We toured the West Coast recently with Adema, and it was our first
time out of Trinidad doing any type of shows. We also opened for Buckcherry
in Los Angeles," Nigel says. "That was off the hook as well.
Los Angeles is a pretty historic place, rock 'n' roll wise. We got to
walk around the Sunset Strip and Hollywood Boulevard -- all the places
we grew up reading about. We love driving from city to city and seeing
America. It's a beautiful country. It's been amazing."
Orange Sky is hugely popular at home in Trinidad and Tobago and throughout
the Caribbean. In fact, Trinidad and Tobago's Ministry of Tourism has
officially named the band as International Ambassadors.
"The positive reaction from American fans so far has been overwhelming.
We don't sound like the average rock band. We have our metal moments,
and a lot of Caribbean elements. On tour, we can play a variety of things,"
says Nigel.
"We're so happy to be out on the road in America making new friends
and fans every night. We've got a lot of love in our hearts, and we're
giving it all that we've got."

- CANDLELIGHT TO RELEASE CANDLEMASS CATALOG
Philadelphia: Candlelight Records today confirms the US license for
six back catalog titles from Swedish doom legends Candlemass. Set for
release in February, the titles include four currently unavailable albums,
a live record and the band's cd/dvd collection.
Epicus Doomicus Metallicus stands as one of doom metal's true milestone
recordings. Originally released in 1986, the record has been completely
remastered and will include a live bonus disc circa 1988 clocking in
at over 51 minutes. In stores February 7, Stonerrock says "it defined
a genre and still remains a well-loved and esential metal album more
than sixteen frigging years after it came out."
Ancient Dreams, also remastered and featuring live bonus material, saw
original release in 1988 and was the second album to feature vocalist
Messiah Marcolin. Album opener "Mirror Mirror" with "Darkness
in Paradise" and "The Bells of Acheron," now all fan
favorites, further extended the band's genius epic signature. In stores
February 7, All Music Guide calls the album "compelling."
Doomed for Live features seventeen songs recorded during the band's
2001 reunion tour (that further led to their current reunion). The hugely
successful European run celebrated the band's legendary status. The
record also hits stores February 7.
Nightfall, the band's brilliant second album, introduced Marcolin to
the world and today continues to be one of the band's most popular records.
Originally released 1987, it has been remastered and features a bonus
disc including rare demo plus studio and additional live footage previously
unavailable. In stores February 21, an interview with the band as well
video for "Bewitched" has also been added.
The conceptual album Tales of Creation found original release in 1989.
Including "The Edge of Heaven" that Doom-metal.com calls "one
of Candlemass' best songs ever," the reissue features more rarere
demo material as well video for "Dark Reflections." Also in
stores February 21, the album with the cd/dvd Essential Doom (featuring
nearly 20 Candlemass classics!) nearly complete Candlemass' respected
and prolific recording career.
Formed in 1985, All Music Guide says, "Candlemass helped reintroduce
the lumbering power chords of Black Sabbath to an entire generation
of post-New Wave of British Heavy Metal and post-thrash metalheads,
almost single-handedly writing the handbook for the modern doom metal
movement in the process." The band's latest album, simply titled
Candlemass, was released earlier this year via Nuclear Blast.
- AGATHOCLES is currently in the studio recording their upcoming album
'Mincer'. Expect the release to hit the streets early 2006.
- ANAL VOMIT and FBP agreed on a limited picture disc version of the
excellent 'Demoniac flagellation' album! With altered layout this collectable
gem will be made available early next year in a limited 666 edition.
Shirts of the band should be made available around that time as well.
- GOAT SEMEN completed writing and rehearsing several new tracks for
the upcoming full length on FBP. Recording will take place early next
year. Expect nothing but total South American black death worship the
old school way!
- To suppress the rumours about INFINITED HATE, the band announced that
there has never been any idea to quit at all. The band found the rumours
ridiculous and do not understand where they were coming from. The band
is currently writing material for their third album. The drumming will
again be done by Dirk Verbeuren (SOILWORK, ABORTED).
- SURRENDER OF DIVINITY is currently in the studio in Bangkok recording
their anxiously awaited debut full length. Fans of IMPIETY, BLASPHEMY
and SARCÓFAGO need this!
- OLD MAN'S CHILD Garners Press Accolades
Norway’s Old Man’s Child’s new album Vermin has received
5/5 stars in the December issue of Revolver Magazine. Released on October
16, “the monster of a black-metal album… is packed with
majestic arrangements, gothic keyboard flourishes, and full-tilt blast
beats. Having a thrashier side as well, Vermin is packed with classic
head-nodding rhythms and melodic guitar interplay” (Revolver).
For fans of the man (Galder), his band (Old Man’s Child), or his
other band (Dimmu Borgir), the issue contains a two-page interview about
the release and his plans for OMC’s future.
- OZZY OSBOURNE GOES UNDER COVER TO PAY TRIBUTE TO THE SONGS HE COVETS
MOST ON A NEW DUALDISC RELEASED TODAY ON EPIC RECORDS.
Titled UNDER COVER, the audio side of this 13-track disc features newly
recorded versions of OZZY's personal favorites -- including "Woman"
(John Lennon), "Rocky Mountain Way" (Joe Walsh) and "Go
Now" (The Moody Blues) -- plus songs he recorded for 2005's gold-certified
box set Prince Of Darkness, such as "In My Life" (the Beatles),
"21st Century Schizoid Man" (King Crimson) and "For What
It's Worth" (Buffalo Springfield).
The DVD side of the UNDER COVER DualDisc contains the video for "In
My Life," a stirring collection of archival footage spanning OZZY's
career. Other highlights include the half-hour presentation "Dinner
With Ozzy and Friends" where OZZY, as only he can, tells some of
his favorite stories to guests who include son Jack Osbourne and Motorhead's
Lemmy Kilmister. In addition, there are classic moments showing OZZY's
repeated attempts to light Black Sabbath drummer Bill Ward's beard on
fire and his encounter with a group of nuns at an airport.
35 years into a massively successful music career -- with over 90 millions
albums sold -- OZZY told Revolver (3/05), "For many years now,
I've thought that it would be great to do some covers, old songs that
mean something to me... It's just me having a bit of fun with some songs
that are already proven." In his Esquire feature (1/05), OZZY clarified
the basics for interpreting other artist's songs, saying "If you're
going to do a cover of a song that has a great melody, don't change
the melody."
Rolling Stone's David Fricke reacted to the new cover songs that appeared
on OZZY's four-CD, 52-song Prince of Darkness box set by noting (3/24/05)
"...the greatest shock is the authentic force that Osbourne, who
was born into poverty and never finished school, brings to his whispered-goth
reading of John Lennon's "Working Class Hero.' "If you want
to be a hero,' Osbourne sings in a searing whine uncannily like Lennon's,
"well, just follow me." Revolver's J.D. Considine raved (5/05),
"...[covers of] King Crimson's "21st Century Schizoid Man,'
for instance, or Mountain's "Mississippi Queen' are pure genius."
OZZY recorded the new songs with producer Mark Hudson, a powerhouse
band -- Mike Bordin (drums), Jerry Cantrell (guitars) and Chris Wyse
(bass) -- and guest musicians that included Ian Hunter (vocals on "All
The Young Dudes"), Leslie West (guitar solo on "Mississippi
Queen") and Robert Randolph (pedal steel on "Symphony For
The Devil," guitar solo on "21st Century Schizoid Man").
UNDER COVER TRACKLISTING:
01. Rocky Mountain Way
02. In My Life
03. Mississippi Queen (voc up)
04. Go Now
05. Woman
06. 21st Century Schizoid Man

RITES and POWERWOLF. The details are as follows:
Jan. 14 - Stockholm, SWE @ Arenan
Jan. 16 - Helsinki, FIN @ Tavastia
Jan. 18 - Oslo, NOR @ Rockefeller
Jan. 19 - Göteborg, SWE @ Trädgarn

Jan. 28 - St. Petersburg, RUS @ Yubileiny (no NOCTURNAL RITES and POWERWOLF)
GAMMA RAY's latest album, "Majestic", was recorded and mixed
at Hansen Studios in Hamburg, Germany. Mastering duties were handled
at Finnvox Studios in Helsinki, Finland by Mikko Karmila and Kai Hansen.
The follow-up to 2001's "No World Order" includes 10 tracks
which represent "all of the characteristic strengths of the band's
musical career to date," the group write on their web site.
- Swedish metallers ENTOMBED have set "Serpent Saints" as
the title of their new album, due on June 6, 2006 via Threeman Recordings.
The upcoming CD will be the group's first without the contributions
of guitarist Uffe Cederlund, who left the band in September.
Speaking to Sweden's Close-Up magazine, ENTOMBED guitarist Alex Hellid
had the following to say about the upcoming album, "Over the years
we've built something, a name that is much bigger than its individual
parts. Living up to that name is something we take very seriously. Of
course, we feel an enormous pressure, albeit in a positive way, and
a great obligation to maintain [the name] as well as live up to our
own and other people's high expectations that come along with putting
an ENTOMBED logo on an album."
ENTOMBED have no plans on replacing Cederlund and will continue as a
four-piece, with Hellid as the sole guitarist. However, there is a possibility
that former ENTOMBED drummer and current THE HELLACOPTERS frontman Nicke
Andersson will contribute to the next album.
"I've just talked loosely with Alex and Peter [Stjärnwind,
drummer] about it," Andersson told Close-Up. "I haven't really
said anything, but they've basically asked me if I would consider being
involved in one way or the other. Whether or not that's because Uffe
has quit, I have no idea. . . .It's really down to having the time to
do it. There are another thousand ideas I want to see through. But if
it's possible, it would be a blast to do something [with ENTOMBED]."
- According to a posting on the Nuclear Blast web site, CATHEDRAL have
postponed their previously announced European tour until February. Support
on the trek will come from GRAND MAGUS and ELECTRIC WIZARD. CATHEDRAL's
schedule currently only contains the following U.K. dates with CRADLE
OF FILTH:
Dec. 01 – Southampton, UK - Guild Hall
Dec. 02 - Norwich, UK - UEA
Dec. 03 - London, UK - The Forum
Dec. 05 - Cardiff, UK - University
Dec. 06 - Birmingham, UK - Academy
Dec. 08 - Glasgow, UK - Academy
Dec. 09 - Newcastle, UK - Academy
Dec. 10 - Leeds, UK - Blank Canvas
Dec. 11 - Manchester, UK - Academy
Dec. 12 - Nottingham, UK - Rock City
CATHEDRAL's new album, "The Garden of Unearthly Delights",
was released in Europe on October 26. The CD will be issued in North
America in January.
Produced by Warren Ryker (DOWN, CROWBAR), "The Garden of Unearthly
Delights" is said to be the band's "most varied effort so
far." Using every stylistic device — from female vocals up
to violins — and embedding it all in that typical CATHEDRAL brand
of doom, "The Garden of Unearthly Delights" is a treat for
every fan of the band, old and new alike. The follow-up to 2002's "The
VIIth Coming", "The Garden of Unearthly Delights" will
once again feature the epic artwork of long-standing CATHEDRAL sleeve
artist Dave Patchett.

- Ron Marks Official Statement in regards to Celtic Frost reunion:
PRESS RELEASE
RON MARKS
Subsonic, Celtic Frost
In light of recent announcements regarding Celtic Frost's new release
and upcoming live performances, I've received many inquiries asking
why my name isn't on their roster. I've remained seemingly naive and
uninformed when asked about the reunion but nothing's further from the
truth. It's true that we'd met in N.Y.C. some years ago and discussed
getting back together. Tom Fischer and I were long passed any tensions
from before and we told one another so. Things were feeling pretty positive
and we shared some enthusiastic phone calls and emails for some months
afterward. I also received a congradulatory email from journalist Malcolm
Dome which stated that I would be part of the new "classic"
CF line-up. I phoned Tom to confirm this but was met with a chilly response.
He said that Malcolm had misquoted him and they (who's "they"?)
would have to see what they could offer me, etc. But this was a rather
obvious smokescreen. Tom knew that I'd practically swim to Switzerland
to be in CF again.
Suddenly, none of my emails or phone calls were being returned. Several
packages with handwritten letters and CDs of original material (we've
always exchanged music) were mailed to Tom's home over a period of about
a year or so. I told him I wanted to remain friends even if I wasn't
in the band. But none of this received any acknowledgement. This was
not only a professional exile but a personal one as well. Hey, if people
don't want to work together that's fine. But to pretend someone no longer
exists is cruel and humiliating from any angle. Finally, I was forced
to admit that I was making a damned fool of myself and stopped.
There's no question that Celtic Frost put Ron Marks on the rock-n-roll
map and the band owes me not a single thing. Quite the opposite, in
fact, and I would have been only too glad to commit my time and talents
once again. Hell man, I'd have been happy to have played on a new track
or two and maybe sit in on a few shows. It's not like I got out of music
to go and be normal. I'm more dedicated and deeply involved in my career
than ever. Anyway, the gig was never offered to me in any shape or form
and that's why I'm not playing with Celtic Frost. Good thing I founded
Subsonic rather than waiting for the phone to ring. I can't help but
think of how Reed St. Mark used to smile and say, "That's show-biz".
