August 27th, 2009	Metal Maniacs Mag returns September 2009!!! Presumed dead, METAL MANIACS MAGAZINE will be back in business in September 2009 though in new form as a monthly online web publication. Zenbu Media, owner of METAL MANIACS, closed the doors to the print operation of the magazine in February 2009. Realizing an opportunity to further strengthen the underground metal community online, Mike Riddick, owner of Metalhit.com, stepped in to take over the development and operation of the new format for METAL MANIACS online. The new METAL MANIACS will feature an Mp3 store with a catalog of more than 12,000 underground extreme metal songs from various bands and labels around the world; monthly band interviews and special interest features; a community forum; regular contests and select weekly and monthly song downloads from up and coming bands. METAL MANIACS will continue to serve as "The Voice of the Underground" to fans worldwide. Visitors can expect contributions from previous editorial staff members as well as a few new ones. Be sure to check out the new site in September 2009! www.metalmaniacs.com SUSPERIA Working On New Video Norwegian five-piece SUSPERIA are currently working on a new video for the song "Character Flaw" with up and coming director/producer Daniel William Bones. Filming took place in Oslo last month and the footage is now being edited. The performance video will continue the apocalyptic theme featured in the artwork of the band's latest album Attitude, which was released via Candlelight Records in May. SUSPERIA's fifth studio album, Attitude was recorded in Norway and mixed at Studio Fredman in Sweden. It features guest appearances by Chuck Billy (Testament) and Shagrath (Dimmu Borgir). Band vocalist Athera made his return to the live arena in June at the Steinkjer Festival in Norway. The singer, who earlier this year suffered a heart attack which resulted in major open heart surgery, has made a rapid recovery and doctors gave him the go-ahead to make his comeback. Regional newspaper Trønder-Avisa posted performance footage and an interview with Athera from the festival. This release will mark the return of founding member/drummer Michael Van Dyne, who states: "The new ARSIS record is coming along great - we have eleven new original songs nearly completed, as well as a cover song which will probably be used as a bonus track. Recording this album should be a blast, and the fact that we'll be working with one of the world's top metal producers will only make the experience that much cooler." New material will be recorded this fall with producer Zeuss (Municipal Waste, Agnostic Front, Hatebreed) at Planet Z Studios in Massachusetts. Artist Mark Riddick will provide his trademarked meticulous and grotesque artwork. Guitarist/singer Jim Malone shares the following: “For the past six months we have been writing songs for Starve For The Devil, and I must say that I am more than pleased with the way things are going. ENSIFERUM To Return To The US This Fall Fresh off a successful stint on this year's Summer Slaughter Tour, Finnish folk metallers ENSIFERUM will kick off a US headlining tour in support of their upcoming full-length From Afar on November 5th. Support will come from Nuclear Blast recording artists HYPOCRISY and EX DEO as well as Sumerian recording artists BLACKGUARD. Said ENSIFERUM guitarist Markus Toivonen of the upcoming dates: "We had a great time on this year's Summer Slaughter tour. Thanks to all the bands involved, and to all the fans that came to see us. We're very excited to come back to the USA in November to support our new album, From Afar. HYPOCRISY, EX DEO and BLACKGUARD are great bands. It should be great fun for everyone!" Swedish death metal legends HYPOCRISY are readying to release their highly anticipated new full-length, A Taste Of Extreme Divinity. The record will mark the band's their first full-length since 2005's Virus. Commented frontman Peter Tagtgren on the record: "We’re happy of the result so far; its got everything a HYPOCRISY album should have in our own point of view. We will release it October 23rd (Europe) and November 3rd (North America) and start touring in the USA, supporting ENSIFERUM!" Roman-themed death metal troop EX DEO, featuring members of Kataklysm and Blackguard, will be touring in support of their recently issued debut Romulus. REVCO ANNOUNCE TRACKLISTING FOR SEX-O MIXXX-O; ADD JIM ROSE TO LUBRICATOUR Remix album featuring mixes by Marilyn Manson, Skinny Puppy and Gravity Kills set for Sept. 29 release (El Paso, Texas) – RevCo (p/k/a Revolting Cocks), the long-running side project from Al Jourgensen and a slew of collaborators over the outfit’s twenty plus year history, will release a remix record titled Sex-O MiXXX-O on Sept. 29 via his own 13th Planet Records. SCAR SYMMETRY parted ways with singer Christian Alvestam last year due to "business and creative differences and lack of interpersonal chemistry." The band explained at the time, "We came to a point where the band's existence was in jeopardy because of these differences, and the only way for us to continue with an inspired state of mind was to go through with this change in the lineup." Christian has since been replaced by Roberth Karlsson (lead growl vocals and backing clean vocals) and Lars Palmqvist (lead clean vocals and backing growl vocals). Fomento signs a deal with Coroner Records Italian thrash/death metallers Fomento signed with Coroner Records for the release of their debut album entitled "Either Caesars Or Nothing". With the enormously popular horror movie series back, writer-producer-director Rob Zombie, once again puts his own twisted twist on the soundtrack. Halloween II – Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (Hip-O/UMe), released August 25, 2009, and co-produced by Zombie, manages to bring together dialogue from the film as well as music from Motorhead, The Moody Blues, Scream (sans future member Dave Grohl), Rod Stewart, the MC5 and Foghat, alongside new psychobilly band Captain Clegg and the Night Creatures. Frightmaster Zombie helmed 2007’s ninth installment in the HALLOWEEN franchise that began in 1978. HALLOWEEN II, which debuts August 28, picks up where HALLOWEEN left off, and focuses on the struggles of Laurie Strode (played by Scout Taylor-Compton) and killer Michael Myers (played by Tyler Mane). The new recordings on Halloween II – Original Motion Picture Soundtrack include “Transylvania Terror Train” and “Honky Tonk Halloween” from Captain Clegg and the Night Creatures, who appear in the film. The band’s leader, Jesse Dayton, an Austin, Texas-based singer-guitarist who has played with Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, and Willie Nelson, was part of the duo Banjo & Sullivan that performed in Zombie’s 2005 flick The Devil’s Rejects and simultaneously released an album. Similarly, Rob Zombie Presents Captain Clegg And The Night Creatures (Stag/Zombie A Go Go) will be issued August 28. Also new are “Laurie’s Theme” from John 5 produced by Bob Marlette, (Alice Cooper and Ozzy Osbourne); “Nurse Killa” from score composer Tyler Bates (Watchmen, 300, Halloween, The Devil’s Rejects); and a cover of Nazareth’s 1976 hit “Love Hurts” from singer Nan Vernon, who covered “(Don’t Fear) The Reaper” and “Mr. Sandman” for HALLOWEEN. The classic tracks range from The Moody Blues’ 1966 psychedelic gem “Nights In White Satin” and 10cc’s cheery 1977 hit “The Things We Do For Love” to Rod Stewart’s 1972 cover of The Temptations’ “(I Know) I’m Losing You,” Foghat’s 1972 take on Willie Dixon’s “I Just Want To Make Love To You” and the MC5 proto-punk masterpiece “Kick Out The Jams,” which was recorded live in Detroit on Devil’s Night/Halloween 1968. The lesser-known vintage tracks hail from the early ‘80s: “Amerarockers” by hardcore punkers Scream, “The Chase Is Better Than The Catch” by metal’s Motorhead and “Time To Die” by hardcore/metal band Void. Prior to entering the film world, hard rocker Zombie scored a series of multiplatinum albums--1992’s La Sexorcisto, 1995’s Astro-Creep: 2000, and 1998’s Hellbilly Deluxe --as well as platinum with 2001’s The Sinister Urge and 2003’s greatest hits collection Past, Present & Future. In addition to his recording career, Rob Zombie has written and directed several successful feature films including House of 1000 Corpses, the sequel, The Devil’s Rejects, and is the is the producer, writer and director of the forthcoming animated film The Haunted World of El Superbeasto, based on his comic book series, The Adventures of El Superbeasto.
