  • The Black Dahlia Murder release first single, reveal album title and track listing for new album

The Black Dahlia Murder has announced Deflorate as the title of their new album, which is scheduled for a September 15th release. A Selection Unnatural, the first single, will begin streaming exclusively on RevolverMag.com on Tuesday, July 7th.

Vocalist Trevor Strnad comments: “Hear Ye thrashing metal maniacs! We have returned with our most relentless album yet…sure to penetrate and ravage your virgin ears, "Deflorate!" I feel confident that we have outdone what we achieved with our last album... words cannot express the excitement we all feel about the new material. Now this is fucking Death Metal! The boys at Audiohammer Jason Suecof and Mark Lewis have done it again…the result is one beastly sounding album. Last but certainly not least, prepare yourselves to behold the hair raising shred of Georgia's own Ryan Durell Knight! Special thanks to Tony Koehl for the kickass job on the cover art…feast your eyes and ears on this most unholy of spectacles! The time of Defloration is upon us!

As foretold at the end of our "Majesty" DVD, the new album will come packaged with an exclusive DVD featurette, lovingly titled "Going Places". Ride along with your favorite jerks on Knight's first tour with the band, a drunken romp through our first ever shows in Sweden, Norway and Russia. Sickness!”

Metal heads will be witnessing firsthand The Black Dahlia Murder's energetic live show all summer on the Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival alongside label mates Cannibal Corpse, Job For A Cowboy, Behemoth and Whitechapel. The tour kicks off on July 10th in Sacramento, CA. The Black Dahlia Murder will also be doing two meet and greets at Hard Rock Café locations during the festival. Hailing from Blekinge, Sweden on the frozen coasts of the Baltic Sea, are the three warlords that form Istapp. Mordechai von Renvaktar, C. The band comments: "We are proud to announce that we have conquered Metal Blade Records. The war against the sun will now proceed with an even stronger force. Our upcoming album "Blekinge" will hit the earth hard. Prepare yourself for the final avalanche!" Istapp

“We wholeheartedly and ecstatically welcome Istapp to the Metal Blade family and could not be more anxious to unleash their Metal Blade debut album to the masses. • LP Version of WOE’s “A Spell for the Death of Man” Available Now!

Philadelphia-based black metal band WOE has announced the official release of the long-awaited LP edition of their debut full-length, A Spell for the Death of Man. A mid-July release is planned as a collaborative effort between Creeping Vine Productions and Woe frontman Chris Grigg's own label, Subvert All Media.

Originally released on CD by American label Stronghold Records in 2008, A Spell for the Death of Man received universally positive reviews, and was hailed as one of the “most important black metal releases in years” by a number of publications.

Written and recorded as a solo project, WOE has since expanded into a full band (featuring members of Woods of Ypres, Rumpelstiltskin Grinder, XXX Maniak, The Green Evening Requiem, and Infernal Stronghold), one whose intense live performances have wowed audiences up and down the East Coast and gained legions of new fans with each performance.

With an initial pressing of 500 copies on red wax, the album features entirely new cover art courtesy of artist Justin Miller, whose artwork for the CD version has been described as "the final song" by Grigg, as well as a printed inner sleeve. The music comes straight off of a brand-new master taken from the original HD recording. Commented Grigg, "This is the album I recorded, the album I wanted to hear. This is Woe as it was intended."

WOE's A Spell for the Death of Man LP can be pre-ordered directly from www.woeunholy.com and www.creepingvine.org now. Additionally, a pay-what-you-want, DRM-free, high-res digital version of the CD master (with artwork) is available through www.woeunholy.com. A full stream of the album, live dates, pictures, and live videos can be found at www.myspace.com/woeunholy.

*East Coast fans, mark your calendars - WOE will be playing several Philadelphia shows next month, tearing it up onstage with Bloody Panda, Ludicra, Hammers of Misfortune, Locrian, and T.O.M.B. Check their Myspace for details!
  • DAMNATION FESTIVAL - Final bands announced for Rock Sound stage!

DAMNATION FESTIVAL is proud to announce experimental metallers JESU as the headliner of the devastatingly eclectic Rock Sound Stage.

And the diverse bill will be round off by rising Belfast post-rock outfit AND SO I WATCH YOU FROM AFAR and England's brightest post-metal hope, RINOA.

Jesu will top the bill which already includes This Will Destroy You, A Storm of Light, Minsk, Manatees and Stand-Up Guy.

Rock Sound editor Darren Taylor said: “We’re psyched about this year’s line-up on the Rock Sound stage – Damnation and Rock Sound have brought together some of the most innovative and exciting bands you’ll see playing on the same stage.

"We’ve been long-term fans of Jesu, so it’s an honour to have them headline our stage this year.”

Festival Director Gavin McInally added: "It's no secret we've wanted Jesu at Damnation for years so it's fitting that they are finally available to headline our strongest yet Rock Sound stage which is crammed with experimental rock and metal talent.

"Some fans don't believe post-rock has a place at a metal event but the hundreds of ticket buyers who packed in to watch the likes of *Shels, Latitudes and Moutains Becames Machines last year felt otherwise so we're delighted to be able to push the envelope further this year.

"With this year's solid line-up the Rock Sound Stage is an event in its own right and we're sure that for many fans it will be the place to be all day."

Damnation Festival will take place at Leeds University Union, on Saturday, October 24, 2009.

The line-up so far is: Therapy?, Destruction, Jesu, Rotting Christ, This Will Destroy You, Akercocke, A Storm of Light, Mistress, Negura Bunget, Minsk, Extreme Noise Terror, Manatees, And So I Watch You From Afar, Charger, Stand-Up Guy and Rinoa with more bands to be announced.

Tickets are on sale now priced at £29.50 from http://www.leedstickets.com/ , http://www.ticketline.co.uk/ and http://www.seetickets.co.uk/
Tickets are also on sale in Leeds at stores including Crash and Jumbo.

  • GORGOROTH Complete New Record

Quantos Possunt ad Satanitatem Trahunt, the ninth full-length from black metal troupe GORGOROTH, is now complete! The album was recorded in Tomas Asklund's Monolith Studio and features Infernus on guitars, Frank Watkins on bass, Pest on vocals and Tomas Asklund on drums. Since Infernus wrote all the music and because of all the rehearsals and pre-recording prior to the return of second guitarist Tormentor last year, it was decided that it would be more convenient for Infernus to record all guitars on the album. Quantos Possunt ad Satanitatem Trahunt was produced by Infernus and co-produced/engineered by Tomas Asklund. It will be mastered at Cutting Room Studios in Stockholm this month and released via Regain Records on October 21st in Europe and November 11th in the US.

  • Light This City, "The Hero Cycle" Reissue Delayed

The reissue of Light This City's debut album, "The Hero Cycle," originally slated for August 18, has been pushed back to early 2010.
  • Artwork and track listing for RAVAGE's Metal Blade debut ‘The End of Tomorrow'

Los Angeles, CA – Boston Massachusetts metalers RAVAGE are ready to unleash their Metal Blade Records debut, The End of Tomorrow on August 18th 2009. Artwork was handled by the famed artist Ed Repka who is known best for his Megadeth covers as well as cover art for Death, Municipal Waste, Toxic Holocaust, and Austrian Death Machine. The End of Tomorrow seamlessly intertwines the sounds of New Wave of British Heavy Metal, late 80's American Thrash Metal and late 90's European power metal to showcase the band's signature style. The album is sure to be enjoyed by metal maniacs young and old as it blends the soaring vocal and guitar melodies of Iron Maiden and Helloween with the raw power of thrashers like Testament and Kreator, presented in a crisply modern production-style courtesy of producer Peter Rutcho.

Here's what vocalist Al Ravage has to say; “This album has been a very, very long time in the making and we'd like to thank Metal Blade for giving traditional, no-bullshit, American heavy metal a chance again. Also thanks to Peter Rutcho for his great production work on the album (giving new life and freshness to a classic sound), and Ed Repka (for inviting you all to share a glimpse into Ravage's corner of the singularly demented alternate reality he has created with mere brush strokes). 'The End' is finally near! Get ready to Ravage and we'll see you on tour this fall.”

The End of Tomorrow track listing:
    1. The Halls of Madness
    2. Reign Fall
    3. Freedom Fighter
    4. Damn Nation
    5. The Shredder

    9. Nightcrawler
    10. The Nightmare's Hold: Part 2

  • Slaughtering the Masses tour

On the eve of the “SLAUGHTERING THE MASSES” tour two of California’s most promising young metal acts, thrashers RATTLEHEAD (from LA) and DEVASTATOR (from Sacramento), will be teaming up to tour the country this summer bringing their own brand of metallic mayhem to over 40 cities.

Rattlehead’s frontman/guitarist Nik Baranov, who also booked the dates, had this to say, "We are all totally excited to get out there on the road again and meet our awesome thrash fans all over the country! We've been aching to play some of these cities, and now it’s finally become a reality."

While Devastator drummer Derek Bean adds, "Better bring the neck braces and painkillers America! This being our first outing around the US, we can't wait to get out there and cause hurtful headbanging and massive mayhemic moshing to all those who dare to witness the "slaughter". Hope to see all the metal freaks and psychotic slam-dancers down front!"

  • BELPHEGOR COMPLETES WORK ON NEW ALBUM

Austrian blackened death metal outfit BELPHEGOR have completed their work on the eighth full-length studio album, Walpurgis Rites - Hexenwahn, due later this year via Nuclear Blast Records.

Walpurgis Rites - Hexenwahn was recorded at Andy Classen's (LEGION OF THE DAMNED, DEW-SCENTED, NEAERA, ASPHYX) Stage One Studios in Kassel, Germany.

    Commented frontman Helmuth:
"With these nine compositions/arrangements, we continue to piss on the damn mainstream. It's BELPHEGOR to the highest; the hymns are extremely varied, more intense and epic than ever, [and] there are new elements and structures added. Also, we used some haunting samples here and there, to give the album a cold and ritualistic feel."

    He continued...
"On Walpurgis Rites - Hexenwahn, you will hear my most fucked up vocals to date; also the lyrical content is offensive and insane. The witch/devil concept is amazing to work with and we used alot of original chants/ incantations from archaic scripts."

BELPHEGOR has tapped Brazilian artist Marcelo Hvc to handle the graphics for the new album. Marcelo has already begun working on the cover art and "some magickal images," according to a press reelase.

    Added Serpenth:
"The idea is to capture the okkultic orgiastic processions from the Broken Mountain, the Walpurgis night in the images."

  • EXODUS - GUITARIST GARY HOLT "NEXT ALBUM WILL BLOW PEOPLE'S MINDS"

The German edition of Metal Hammer magazine conducted an interview with guitarist Gary Holt of San Francisco Bay Area thrashers EXODUS at this year's installment of the Graspop Metal Meeting, which was held on June 26-28, 2009 on the festival grounds of the Boeretang in Dessel, Belgium.

When asked about EXODUS' plans for a new studio album, Holt said, "Hopefully we're hitting the studio around November 1 with Mr. Sneap [British producer Andy Sneap; MEGADETH, NEVERMORE, ARCH ENEMY]. It's gonna be sick. We have four [songs] recorded [and left over] from the last session [for 2007's 'The Atrocity Exhibition... Exhibit A'], and I've got, like, nine [other tracks] I'm working on, and Lee [Altus, guitar] has a bunch of stuff. But this next album is gonna blow people's minds."

Regarding the upcoming CD's musical direction, Holt said, "There's a couple of twists on this. I try not to repeat every album. I mean, we did 'Tempo Of The Damned' [2004], [which was] a little more old-school, and we did 'Shovel Headed Kill Machine' [2005], which was really brutal and fast, and then 'The Atrocity Exhibition... Exhibit A' [2007], [which] was, like, longer and more epic songs. So this album's gonna have some different stuff to it. Maybe a little more dual-guitar stuff, 'cause I've been playing with Lee for quite awhile now — a little more dual-guitar harmony shred stuff."

    AUGURY states:
"We are proud to announce our official album release party for Fragmentary Evidence on August 15th 2009 at Montreal's Club Soda. All metalheads are welcome to this long awaited event.

To give you another taste of our new album, we have added another song on our MySpace Page. A rediscovery for some, we opted for the track "Faith Puppeteers," a longtime mainstay in our live performances, featuring vocals from Youri Raymond (Unhuman, Cryptopsy). For the happy people in Montreal, there will be a listening party at Cafe Chaos on July 16th!

Also, due to the amount of questions and requests, AUGURY members will make themselves available for musical clinics and private lessons during the upcoming tours. Suffice to reserve your spot by e-mail (info@augurymetal.com) in advance and a schedule will be established to accomodate anyone willing to learn a few of our secrets...we'll keep you posted!!!"

The band will launch their maiden tour of the U.S. in support of God Dethroned on September 30th and will return to the States again with label mates VADER in November’s "Decibel Presents: Monsters Of Death Tour."

Dominic Forest, AUGURY bassist, checks in from Montreal and shares the following about the upcoming VADER trek:
"We are really proud and thrilled to tour with a cult band such as VADER and are really eager to join our friends Decrepit Birth on the road. We will do video blogs while touring, so keep in touch with us on our MySpace page!!!”

Fragmentary Evidence was produced by Hugues Deslauriers (Clearwater Deathblow), Yannick St-Amand (Despised Icon), and AUGURY. • SUBHUMANS Back-Catalog Reissued

SUBHUMANS were at the forefront of the UK anarcho-punk scene in the early 80s, alongside such bands as Crass, Flux of Pink Indians, Rudimentary Peni and Conflict. From the start SUBHUMANS were praised for their ability to stretch the boundaries of punk rock with their unique blend of structured dynamic tunes and incisive sociopolitical lyrics.

SUBHUMANS were, between 1980-85, one of the most prolific and original bands of the evolving UK punk scene; they were based in Warminster, Wiltshire, SW England, and the lineup was Dick on vocals, Bruce played guitar, Phil on bass, and Trotsky on the drums. Dick had previously sung for The Mental, who released one EP and embodied the "can't-play-will-play" early punk "anyone-can-do-it" attitude. Bruce had been in The Stupid Humans, also based in Warminster; these two met at an Angelic Upstarts gig in 1980, and when their bands split they got together to form SUBHUMANS.

Musical influences were a mix of Sex Pistols, The Damned and similar punk originators, and pre-punk bands like King Crimson and Frank Zappa, which led to a style of punk more intricate in its structure than their contemporaries, without losing the base energy and dynamics of punk. Dick’s lyrics, at once socially aware and heavily critical of social norms, placed them in the anarcho-punk area of the ever-expanding UK punk scene of the early 80s, alongside Crass, Antisect, Conflict and Flux Of Pink Indians, who released the band’s first 3 EPs (Demolition War, Reason For Existence, and Religious Wars) and their first LP The Day The Country Died, which became an instant classic that went on to sell 100,000 copies (largely at the cover price of ‘pay no more than £3.25’, which was as cheap as possible in order to make the music more accessible).

In ‘83 they formed their own label, Bluurg Records, and over the next two years released the From The Cradle To The Grave LP (which included a 16 minute track of the same name that had the music press calling for a redefinition of ‘punk’!) Evolution EP, Time Flies 12" EP, Rats EP, Worlds Apart LP, and 29:29 Split Vision LP, which was released after splitting up in ‘85. By then the band had played 262 gigs including several European tours and two in the USA, (which was in the 80’s a rare achievement for a non-commercially minded band).

Bluurg records are proud to announce the forthcoming reissues of the SUBHUMANS back-catalog. Remastered and presented in deluxe digipacks with all original artwork, these re-releases give you another chance to hear one of the original UK punk bands at their very best.

  • ABSU’s Proscriptor Discusses The North American “CIII” Tour + Upcoming Festival Dates

Candlelight Records has just completed its third label packaged tour for North America, which featured Philadelphia thrashers RUMPELSTILTSKIN GRINDER and support from Los Angeles-based SOTHIS. The tour visited 21 cities throughout the US and Canada, which began in San Marcos, California and unexpectedly ended in Ft. Lauderdale, FL on June 27. ABSU's scheduled Ft. Worth, TX performance on Monday, June 29 was canceled due to the band's tour bus breaking down outside of Baton Rouge, LA. The concert will be rescheduled for later this summer and all tickets for the canceled show will be honored for the new date or refunded at the point of purchase.

Proscriptor comments on the tour: “For not touring in 12 years, I must admit I was extremely pleased with not only the tour, but overall turnout for all the performances. However, I am still a bit disappointed the original bands that were initially included on the tour (DESTROYER 666, AVERSE SEFIRA and GLORIOR BELLI) dropped off, which would have made the tour stronger, but still pleased. At least we successfully conveyed our message of mythological occult metal across the North American terrain – mission accomplished.”

ABSU will perform at the following festivals this summer:
7/17/2009 Hell’s Pleasure Metal Festival - Pößneck, Germany
7/18/2009 Kaltenbach Open Air - Spital am Semmering, Austria
7/25/2009 Stonehenge Festival - Steenwijk, Netherlands

  • Neuraxis parts ways with drummer and bassist, seeks replacements.

Montreal's Neuraxis have announced they are parting ways with drummer Tommy Mckinnon and bassist Yan Thiel.

Guitarist Rob Milley comments: "The time has come again for us to refresh the Neuraxis family as we are now seeking a new drummer and bassist. Nothing really juicy to tell. For Tommy, his priorities began to differ from ours while on the road until it became clear to us that he was no longer enjoying the touring lifestyle. He wishes to go back to school to complete his education. As for Yan its just been a case of him deciding to further his working career and he can no longer dedicate himself to the band. This has been going on for many years now and its time for us to have a full-time bassist on board. Both of them will continue playing in other musical projects. We thank our metal brothers for all the good times we had together and wish them the best for the future. Tommy and Yan will be fulfilling all our summer shows already booked ending with a fitting show in Montreal at the Club Soda on Sept 11th 2009.

With that being said, we are excited to get some new blood in the band. For those interested in auditioning for the drummer and bassist positions , visit our myspace page, www.myspace.com/neuraxis to learn the following 3 songs: 'Dreaming the End,' 'Darkness Prevails' and 'Clarity' and make sure to read all the requirements before getting in touch with us. We ask you to video tape yourself playing these songs, add it to your Youtube page and send us the link by Myspace. Include 'Drummer' or 'Bassist' audition in the subject."

  • SUICIDE SILENCE Debut At #32 On The Billboard Top 200 Chart; Frontman Featured On The Cover of Revolver

Today marks a monumental moment in extreme metal history as SUICIDE SILENCE become one of the most extreme bands to ever debut in the US Billboard Top 200 charts at such a high number entering at #32 with over 14,000 units sold. This great success comes on the heels of the band’s frontman landing the cover of the North American Revolver Magazine’s September issue, which hits newsstands everywhere on July 21st. There will be two different versions available, so head over to http://www.revolvermag.com/node/3367 now to check them out along with an exclusive webisode documenting the band’s recent Tattoo Magazine photo shoot.
This also marks Century Media’s second highest Billboard debut entries of 2009.

There is little doubt in anyone’s minds that SUICIDE SILENCE are the frontrunners of the scene and Mitch Lucker (vocals) further comments: “Well, to wake up this morning and get the news of us debuting at #32 on the Billboard Top 200 charts is mind blowing. We are so proud of No Time To Bleed and feel that we made a definite statement with this effort. This is the culmination of years of relentless touring and hard work. We most of all want to thank you, the fans, for helping us achieve this amazing benchmark and we wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for all of you supporting us.”

On the cover of Revolver: “It’s such an honor to be featured on the cover of Revolver Magazine and I am very humbled by this. Revolver has always embraced us and had our backs. Giving us a chance to perform at the inaugural Golden Gods Awards meant the world to us and it was a huge opportunity to perform in front of a crowd that previously might not have been exposed to us. That night proved to be a stepping stone to many big things as we followed that up with the massive ‘Music As A Weapon’ Fest headlining the second stage and we just wrapped up a very successful Canadian arena tour with Slayer, Megadeth and Machine Head. Revolver Magazine rules and we can’t possibly thank them enough for their overall support of extreme metal giving us this huge exposure to the masses. This is also the perfect way to hype our upcoming Mudvayne tour this summer, which will be the first American tour that we will be selling our new record. So come out and witness the new jams. We promise that it will be a night to remember.”

Revolver also states: “Since they dropped our jaws to the floor with their blistering live performance at last summer’s Mayhem Fest, we’ve been big fans of SUICIDE SILENCE. We were proud to give them the Golden God Award for Best New Talent this April, and now we’re even more proud to give them their first metal magazine cover. If you’re already one of their many fans, you know they deserve it - and if you’re one of the still unconverted, check them out. You won’t regret it.”

The wait is finally over, now let the bloodshedding commence as the leaders of the new wave of American metal, SUICIDE SILENCE, unleash their new unrelenting slab of sheer brutality, “No Time To Bleed”. This album is destined to redefine the genre with its uncompromising aggression and disregard for conventionality. The disc’s opening cut “Wake Up” says it all, so wake the fuck up and go buy this album and realize just exactly what all of the hype is about.

Right after performing alongside Mudvayne, Black Label Society, Static-X, Dope and Bury Your Dead on the massive “Pedal To The Metal” North American tour SUICIDE SILENCE will head back to Europe for two runs in a row:

  • Prosthetic Records Signs Holy Grail

Prosthetic Records has signed Los Angeles based Holy Grail. The band, formerly known as Sorcerer, features three former members of White Wizzard and takes their influence from such classic metal acts as Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Accept, and the Scorpions.

Vocalist James Paul Luna's Rob Halford meets Sebastian Bach voice belts out lyrics focusing on "Chicks, Vikings, Ex-Chicks, Being Tough, Macho/Machismo, FEMA, Fabio, Conan, Rad Dinosaurs, UFOs and Bilderberg Group," while guitarists James J LaRue and Eli Santana's dueling solos play out like a fencing match and bassist Blake Mount and drummer Tyler Meahl gallop like a pack of wild horses. After just a handful of shows, the band landed a 2 page feature in the LA Weekly, and has planted its boot, firmly on the throat of LA's metal scene.

Luna commented, "After months of losing our minds and shredding through many contracts and label offers, Prosthetic always stayed at the top of our list. They live and breathe the same LA Metal air we do, and know what it takes to develop a band from ground zero. Business aside, we are beyond stoked to work with guys that have the same eccentric and twisted views on music, life, art and shred. Things can only get wilder from here!"

The band will play their first show, post signing, at the infamous Whisky on the Sunset Strip on July 30th , with an out of town show at the Jumping Turtle in San Marcos and a show supporting Children of Bodom on October 11 at the Glass House in Pomona. Expect to experience a blistering stage show and to hear songs off of their debut EP, "Improper Burial," due out this fall (which will feature 2 originals and 2 covers). The band will journey out on a west coast tour in conjunction with the release, and before they enter the studio to start their full length.

Check out Holy Grail at myspace.com/holygrailofficial

Founded in 1998, the Los Angeles-based independent label Prosthetic Records has released nearly 100 albums during its first decade that cover practically every subgenre of metal. Highlights of the label's catalog include Lamb of God's seminal debut New American Gospel and their landmark follow-up As The Palaces Burn, several re-issues by thrash icons Testament and the entire discography of All That Remains. • BLACK COBRA Complete Album; New Track Posted

BLACK COBRA, the heaviest two-piece band in the universe, have completed their upcoming Southern Lord Recordings debut album, Chronomega. With a tentative worldwide release date set for September 29, 2009 the album's nine tracks rage with BLACK COBRA's patented megacrushing, groove-heavy style of fuzztone doom-metal angst. With the grandmaster of sludge Billy Anderson manning the soundboard for this mammoth recording, Chronomega promises to be one of the most tonally destructive and overall damaging releases of the year.

Check out the Black Cobra and Earsplit MySpace pages to hear the new track "Negative Reversal" from the upcoming album now!

    Chronomega track listing:

    1. Negative Reversal
    2. Machine
    3. Catalyst
    4. Chronosphere
    5. Zero Point Field
    6. Lightning In His Hand
    7. Storm Shadow
    8. Glacies En Spiritu
    9. Nefarian Triangle
*10. Behaved (Buzzov*en cover - bonus track for Japanese CD and vinyl release)

Rafa Martinez and Jason Landrian have been coalescing Black Cobra's sonic brew for nearly seven years now, yet neither were strangers to heaving heavy riffage prior; Rafa did time with Acid King and -16-, Jason with Cavity. The pair unleash a tone heavier than a trio of both guitar and drums. Their impenetrable hardcore doom chemistry evokes an intensity that sets them apart from the others, both live and recorded. The band have toured seemingly endlessly on both US and foreign soil since their 2002 inception, sharing the stage with The Sword, Weedeater, High On Fire, Torche and countless other bands in the upper ranks of metal and doom, many times blowing the competition away.

  • 3 INCHES OF BLOOD announce “Here Waits Thy Doom” official track listing; comment on cover track selections!

The world is eagerly awaiting the triumphant return of one of the biggest defenders of traditional heavy metal, 3 INCHES OF BLOOD! The stunning new album, “Here Waits Thy Doom”, was tracked in Seattle’s Sound House Recordings with renowned producer Jack Endino (Soundgarden, High on Fire, Zeke) and is soon to be hailed as the gospel of all things heavy. The album’s official track listing is below along with some very interesting covers that span the hard rock spectrum and will be appearing as b-sides and/or bonus tracks for the upcoming release.

“Here Waits Thy Doom” will be released in Europe on August 31, 2009 and September 8th, 2009 in the US.

    “Here Waits Thy Doom”
    Battles and Brotherhood
    Rock In Hell
    Silent Killer
    Fierce Defender
    Preachers Daughter
    Call of the Hammer
    Snake Fighter
At the Foot of the Great Glacier
    All of them Witches
    12:34
    Execution Tank

    Covers:
    Not Fragile (Bachman-Turner Overdrive)
Cities on Flame (Blue Oyster Cult)
    Daytona (Zeke)

Cam Pipes (vocals) further explains the band’s decision process when picking out what songs to pay homage to: “We decided to cover ‘Not Fragile’ by Bachman-Turner Overdrive because they're a Canadian band and we wanted to represent our Canadian musical roots. BTO had many hits, but we wanted to do a deeper cut from their catalog plus ‘Not Fragile’ has a heavy driving riff at the core of the song which we felt translated well with our style.

“Blue Oyster Cult's ‘Cities on Flame with Rock and Roll’ is a song that our guitarist Justin had played the main riff to at soundcheck for a few years now and I guess it just got stuck in our heads, so we decided to learn it and record it. We've also been friends with Zeke for many years and ‘Daytona’ has always been a favorite Zeke song of ours. It's another one we've loosely jammed out in the rehearsal space and soundchecks before. It's a rare, slow Zeke song, which is good because we'd probably butcher one of their fast songs.”

3 INCHES OF BLOOD represent everything that heavy metal was, is and will be about! “Here Waits Thy Doom” demonstrates that the best way to stay ahead of the heavy metal curve is to write music that comes from the heart and sounds nothing like the horde of bands tapping into the latest trends. To that end, they draw fuel from their favorite artists, including Judas Priest, Mercyful Fate, UFO, and Rainbow and compile it all into their own lethal potion.

In 2009, 3 INCHES OF BLOOD raises the chalice another notch leaving their definitive mark on the metal genre.

  • WINDS OF PLAGUE post new track & album teaser online; comment on concept of “The Great Stone War”!

WINDS OF PLAGUE will release their new full-length release, “The Great Stone War”, on August 11th, 2009 in the US and August 24th, 2009 in Europe. A concept record and their most epic and unrelenting offering to date, this album is going to quickly propel the band to the forefront of the worldwide extreme metal scene.

The brand-new track “Soldiers Of Doomsday” has now been officially premiered at the band’s MySpace page, so head over immediately to http://www.myspace.com/windsofplague and catch a glimpse at the carnage that awaits!

A video teaser giving you an impression of the album’s stunning artwork by Par Olofsson (The Faceless, Exodus, Psycroptic) can be viewed here:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GseeUmBUTnc

Johnny Plague (vocals) further comments on the album’s concept:
“I decided as a challenge to myself to write this new album as a story. I have always been a fan of concept albums as I feel it adds an overall depth to an album. Bands like Blind Guardian and Dimmu Borgir have been huge influences on me. Their albums always seem to have this narrative based feel to them. With this idea and I hope to achieve the same affect on others as their albums had on me. The idea of “The Great Stone War” is that civilization as a whole will digress and in time inevitably end with one final battle. This battle will not be fought with technology but with stone. Over the course of eleven tracks the listener hears about a journey foreseen through the eyes of a heathen in a religious world apocalypse. Even in the world’s darkest times you always have to take a step back and see life for what it is and not lose sight of what is most important.”

The Southern California based sextet kick off their massive worldwide touring campaign for “The Great Stone War” taking part in the star-studded Summer Slaughter touring package featuring Suffocation, Necrophagist and Dying Fetus, among a slew of others. They will follow this up with a lengthy North American run with Hatebreed and Chimaira. European touring activities will be announced soon.

  • SKYFIRE Digital-Only EP Now Available for Download

The 4 song digital-only EP ‘Fractal’ from Swedish progressive death metallers SKYFIRE is now available for legal download at http://cdbaby.com/cd/skyfire. It is currently being processed by iTunes, Napster and many other mp3 stores for sale via their respective stores in the coming weeks.

The band spent over 5 years writing new materials since its last release. Unleashed a few months before the band’s full length magnum opus titled ‘Esoteric,’ the digital-only ‘Fractal’ release represents the band’s best material written between 2004 and 2009. ‘Fractal’ serves to thank long time fans who have patiently waited for new material with songs that would have otherwise never seen the light of day. Among its four songs is also a preview track from ‘Esoteric’ aptly titled “Esoteric” as a taste of the full length onslaught to follow suit and is also available for listening on the band’s Myspace page. The songs on ‘Fractal’ utilize the same epic bombast as ‘Esoteric’ while simultaneously maintaining the melancholic attitude heard on 2004’s ‘Spectral.’

The tracks were recorded, mixed and mastered at the band's Powernest Studios with new members Joakim Karlsson (vocals; MARK:BLACK) and Johan Reinholdz (guitars; ANDROMEDA, NONEXIST) with the exception of “Esoteric” which was mixed and mastered by Jonas Kjellgren (SCAR SYMMETRY, SONIC SYNDICATE, ZONARIA, THE ABSENCE). ‘Fractal’ not only provides diehard fans with some exceptional songs that would have otherwise never been released, it is also the first taste of new SKYFIRE material which will be continued on the band’s Esoteric full length out on September 8th in North America, 14th in the UK and 18th in Europe via Pivotal Rockordings.

  • SKYFIRE 'Esoteric' Release Dates Announced and Band Comments on the Album

After 5 years of computer failure, illness, lineup-changes and countless other obstacles, Swedish progressive death metallers SKYFIRE will triumphantly return to unleash their long awaited 4th album "Esoteric" this September 8th in North America, 14th in the UK and 18th in Europe via Pivotal Rockordings. Bassist Martin Hanner comments on the band's new album which features 10 epic new songs, some of which utilizing up to 70 individual tracks each:

"For this album, we were heavily inspired by bands like SYMPHONY X and BAL-SAGOTH; bands that write epic and catchy songs at the same time. We really thought long and hard about how we can make this new record as epic as possible without it coming off as cheesy and we then carefully began writing the subtle choir and orchestra parts to accompany the already bombastic music. This took quite some time, but we are pleased with the final result. The writing and overall planning for this CD took years and we literally weren't finished writing until right after all the recording was done.

When the album was finished, we had a long discussion with our label regarding what to do about bonus tracks. Both parties agreed that the songs we wrote for this album are too special to be broken up for different territories. So instead we decided to include the old 'Within Reach' demos as bonus tracks. These are literally the first legitimate SKYFIRE recordings ever, and as you'll soon see, the first and only time you'll hear SKYFIRE with a clean singer. Even though the songwriting and especially the lyrics are immature, we think these songs will be cool for a lot of fans who might have wondered what we sounded like all those years ago. These tracks were NEVER made available to the public until now."

Hanner also reveals the concept behind the stunning artwork for “Esoteric,” which was designed by by Pär Olofsson (THE FACELESS, PSYCROPTIC, SPAWN OF POSSESSION) with layout handled by CULT OF LUNA’s Erik Olofsson:

"The cover is basically a guy who is being initiated by a cult. You can choose to interpret the guy in pain as he is being burned alive by the cultists just so he can join, or you can interpret the guy as having achieved the power he sought, and he is screaming out of bliss and not pain. It relates to the title because a lot of us would think that what he is doing is kind of ridiculous- why would anyone want to join a cult? But people do strange things and they have their own subjective, esoteric sense of understanding that to the rest of us, is strange or crazy. I think we ALL in some shape or form have esoteric practices that a lot of other people don't 'get,' whether it's believing in something or even listening to metal music."

  • ENSIFERUM: Album Title + Track Listing Revealed

Finnish folk metallers ENSIFERUM have set From Afar as the title of their fourth album, slated for a US release on September 8, 2009 (September 9th for the rest of the world) via Spinefarm Records. The CD was produced by Tero Kinnunen (Nightwish, Amorphis) and Janne Joutsenniemi, who produced the band's previous offering, Victory Songs and mixed by Hiili Hiilesmaa (HIM, Sentenced, Amorphis). The band will embark on a European headlining tour in support of From Afar in October with a return to the states to follow shortly thereafter.

    From Afar Track Listing:
    01. "By The Dividing Stream"
    02. "From Afar"
    03. “Twilight Tavern"
    04. "Heathen Throne"
    05. "Elusive Reaches"
    06. "Stone Cold Metal"
    07. "Smoking Ruins"
    08. "Tumman Virran Taa"
    09. "The Longest Journey (Heathen Throne Part II)"
    10. "Vandraren" *(limited-edition bonus track; Nordman cover)

After entering the studio for the first time in the latter part of the '90s, ENSIFERUM — Latin for "Sword Bearer" — has consistently sharpened its sound, dispensing epic music heavy in both atmosphere and attack. With their most recent opus Victory Songs, which will be reissued by Spinefarm Records with US exclusive bonus material on October 13, 2009, ENSIFERUM took "Folk/Viking melodic metal" to a new level of grandeur. Metal Maniacs called Victory Songs, "the kind of metal for which the beer Steiner was invented. Catchy in spite of its heaviness, it's yet another quality offering in a genre that everyone would love if only they'd embrace the Pagan within." Earning a 4/5 rating, About.com called the record “a distinctive and very appealing sound,” with Decibel adding "... it's pretty amazing to hear a twee little jig of an intro segue into a blast beat." ENSIFERUM had its first two albums — 2001’s Ensiferum and 2004’s Iron — officially released for the very first time in the US last spring via Spinefarm Records. Both albums contain exclusive bonus material.

  • CANNIBAL CORPSE: Evisceration Plague graphic novel available exclusively through Hot Topic on this summer's Rockstar Mayhem Festival

Los Angeles, CA – Death-metal icons CANNIBAL CORPSE are issuing a limited-edition 96 page comic book exclusively at the Hot Topic booth on this summer's Rockstar Mayhem Festival tour. Drawn entirely by Vince Locke, who illustrated the acclaimed graphic novel ‘A History of Violence' and each of the band's album covers, the Evisceration Plague comic graphically depicts a story for every song on the band's album of the same name—arranged in order, no less. As an added bonus, each copy comes with a copy of the album.

“Vince Locke has done an incredible job turning our lyrics into blood-soaked and vicious illustrations for the Evisceration Plague comic book. He really has captured visually what we were trying convey lyrically. His artwork has brought our macabre songs to life in truly explicit fashion...fans of graphic horror will not be disappointed,” comments bassist and founding member Alex Webster.

  • THE POODLES – signs European deal with BLISTERING RECORDS

Blistering Records is proud to announce the signing of Swedish hard rockers THE POODLES for the European territory.

Founded in late 2005 things moved rapidly for The Poodles with the band entering the Swedish leg of the Eurovision Song Contest which led to the big breakthrough in their native country.

The debut album “Metal Will Stand Tall”, climbed to the top of the Swedish charts. The first single “Night of Passion”, went gold after only three weeks and platinum not long after. The band played over 100 shows in Sweden before heading out on a European tour with HAMMERFALL and KROKUS that took them through 31 dates and 18 countries.

The sophomore album “Sweet Trade” was released in late 2007 with the second single “Streets of Fire” becoming the band’s biggest seller to date by going double platinum.

Shortly after The Poodles headed out on yet another tour around Europe, this time with Swiss hard rockers GOTTHARD. This was followed by their own headline tour in the spring of 2008 with 17 sold-out shows throughout Europe. 2008 also saw The Poodles participate a second time in the Swedish Eurovision Song Contest plus getting the honor of performing the official Swedish theme song for the Olympic Games in Beijing, China.

On “Clash of the Elements” the band has worked with some of the giants in the music industry - including legendary producer/engineer Mike Fraser (Aerosmith, AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, Whitesnake). The band is currently on a tour that will take them all over Sweden until the end of August with a full-scale European tour to follow later in the year. The album will be released in Europe on August 28th by BLISTERING RECORDS with promotional preparations already in full spin.

Make no mistake! The Poodles are shooting for the stars with this one!

The Japanese quartet GRIEF OF WAR -- whose frenetic "samurai crunch" brand of thrash has been hailed by Decibel as "a total adrenaline rush" -- is now streaming their new album "Worship," which arrives in stores throughout North America today, exclusively on their MySpace page, www.myspace.com/griefofwar.

The album's track listing is as follows:

    1. Crack Of Doom
    2. Disorder
    3. Captured Soul Eternity
    4. New Kind Of Wicked
    5. Revolt
    6. Built My Brain
    7. Worship
    8. Into The Void (feat. Shane Gibson of Korn)
    9. Midnight Sun
    10. Lost

MetalSucks recently premiered the music video for the album's title track, which can be viewed at the following link:

GRIEF OF WAR, who will play a CD release show in their hometown of Tokyo on July 20, first made an international splash with their 2005 debut "A Mounting Crisis...As Their Fury Got Released," which was reissued worldwide by Prosthetic in early 2008. "Worship" should garner the group even more acclaim, thanks in part to a sharp production that was mastered by Ted Jensen of New York's legendary Sterling Sound, who has previously put the final touches on works by acts ranging from Kiss to Kreator.
  • DUSTED ANGEL's End-Time Doom Rock Unleashed

Santa Cruz, California has given birth to an ungodly musical beast known as DUSTED ANGEL. Formed in 2008, the band features Clifford Dinsmore on vocals, Bill Torgerson on drums, Eric Feiber and Scott Stevens manning the guitars and Eliot Young on bass, DUSTED ANGEL'S members are longtime friends from the days when several of the members rolled together in hardcore henchmen BL'AST. Following that band, Clifford was a member of avant-prog-doomsters SPACEBOY, and also helped form the cerebrally crushing outfit GARGANTULA.

Over the past half year since their inception, DUSTED ANGEL has transformed from somewhat of a side-project into a full-on act for the members. After playing out quite a bit locally and generating a massive response in the region in recent months, the band have also recently put a few tracks onto wax. DUSTED ANGEL's upcoming self-titled debut 7" will be released on LA-based indie label Corruption Recordings this September. Featuring three sludged-out sledgehammer tracks mixed by Billy Anderson (Neurosis, High on Fire, etc.), this is just the beginning. A full-length record is being planned now and is to be recorded soon for a yet-to-be decided label.

Stay tuned for more end-time updates on this juggernaut.
