- NUCLEAR ASSAULT "Third World Genocide"
Nuclear Assault were among thrash metal's most socially aware groups,
making room for serious subject matter (and occasional goofs) in their
careening speed metal riffing. They also remained closer to the world
of hardcore than most of their peers, and at their late-'80s peak released
some of the most uncompromising thrash metal offerings of the time.
One of the Big Apple's few challengers (along with Anthrax and Overkill)
to the Bay Area dominance of all things thrash metal, Nuclear Assault
became immediate contenders due to the cumulative sum of its parts —
not to mention, their extreme nature and their ability to back it up
with solid musicianship. Produced by metal stalwart Alex Perialas, their
first album, 1986's Game Over, was regarded as a breath of fresh air
with its potent speed metal tinged with hardcore overtones. In the process,
fans and critics alike instantly accepted it and the band was quickly
off to the races.
In early 2002 the band was approached by a mutual friend to reform for
a couple of shows. Their first reunion show was a the Metal Meltdown
in April and there they found out that their was a demand for the band
to continue. They played the classic NYC venue CBGB in May along with
a show in Massachusetts that was recorded for a live album to be released
on SPV in early 2003.
Currently, Nuclear Assault has just finished a successful tour of South
America with the band Sodom and is preparing for a European tour to
support their first studio album in 10 years called “3rd World
Genocide”. The album features 13 tracks performed by core members
Lilker, Evans and Connelly along with Bramante and Burke. Supporting
videos are planned for the songs “Long Haired Asshole” and
“Price of Freedom”.

- sunnO)): "Black One is complete"
The crippling tonal invocations of sunnO))'s dismal trademark execution
takes a crushing next step in subharmonic expansion, as the monolithic
sound slab Black One is completed...
The cult and mainstream masses that their White One and White Two releases
gained the duo by storming countless national press outlets and publications
and bulldozing the band into the mainstream, have awaited this day.
Although hard to fathom, Black One pulls you much deeper into a quagmire
of sound with even more of a oppressive shroud of depressive grim tone,
this time exorcising the black metal demons that posses these more doom-related
icons. Conjuring dark forces to aid in their cause, sunnO))'s primary
players (Greg Anderson - Southern Lord Records, Goatsnake and Stephen
O))Malley - Khanate, Lotus Eaters) are joined by a pack of savages including
Wrest (Leviathan), Maelific (Xasthur), John Wiese (Bastard Noise, Sissy
Spacek) Mathias Schneeberger (producer of The Obsessed, Saint Vitus,
Goatsnake) and atmospheric soundscape artist Oren Ambarchi.
Needless to say, the final product is a bewildering avalanche of unparalleled
sonic doom. A Neanderthal release in its entirety, this will set a new
precedent for worshipers of the cavedrone….
Black One suffocates the planet October 18th, 2005.

- RELEASE DATES SET FOR FORTHCOMING ATHEIST REISSUES
Relapse Records has set release dates for the reissues of the three
full-length albums (1989's Piece of Time, 1992's Unquestionable Presence
and 1993's Elements) by seminal technical metal pioneers ATHEIST.
Elements and Unquestionable Presence will be released officially on
August 30 (North America) and September 5 (Europe). Piece of Time will
follow with a September 13 release (North America) and September 19
(Europe).
Guitarist/vocalist Kelly Shaefer comments on the impending CD reissues;
"We could not be more proud of the job done on these reissues by
the folks at Relapse. When this ATHEIST re-issue project started unfolding,
I wanted them to be treated with the same care as if they were new releases."
Shaefer continues, "Now that they are done I can say 110% that
this is the quintessential ATHEIST collection! It includes all the original
classics plus tons of bonus tracks, incredible liner notes, and photos
even the band has never seen until now. The art is expanded and more
vibrant than ever and the sound has been remastered to pristine metal
standards! The attention to detail in these reissues is outstanding
and even if you had owned the records in their original pressings, you
MUST have this in your collection as they are the definitive versions
of the ATHEIST records." Metal

- SIEBENBURGEN RELEASE DATE ANNOUNCED
Napalm Records America is proud to announce September 29th as the domestic
release date of the new SIEBENBURGEN album, Darker Designs & Images.
Dark sounds, a threatening distorted voice and gut-wrenching cries introduce
the latest work from SIEBENBURGEN, Darker Designs & Images. The
masters of vampiric metal deliver an obscure and raw release complemented
by beautiful melody lines and the charming voice of Erika Roos, whose
vocals counteract Marcus Ehlin's unmistakable growls. The Swedes remain
true to their Transylvanian tradition, creating a shadowy realm from
the beginning of the first track to the very final note of the last.
SIEBENBURGEN understands the art of songwriting and conveying the proper
atmosphere. Both double-bass parts as well as acoustic guitar transitions
find their niche in this perfect interaction -- one that allows the
imagination to run wild. The perfect soundtrack for Dracula! Metal

- CBGBs Update
As many of you may be aware, CBGB is currently in dispute with its landlord
over a new lease. The current lease ends at the end of August. To put
all rumors to rest, the lease dispute is not over violations or unpaid
rent. It is simple economics. The neighborhood is changing. Where there
once were abandoned lots and supply warehouses, there are now high price
condominiums and chic upscale boutiques. Neighborhoods in this city
change. We understand that. Whether you want to call it gentrification
or progress is a matter of opinion, and rather than turn this into a
political diatribe, allow me to simply explain how this effects CBGB
and we can save the political and class questions for another time.
Our landlord is the BRC (Bowery Resident's Committee) a not for profit
charity that assists the homeless. They run and maintain various shelters
and outreach programs. We support their cause and believe we can, not
only have a good relationship as landlord and tennant, but we can also
help each other.
Currently, our landlord wants us out. The reason is simple. The changes
in the neighborhood (present and planned) have made the property value
skyrocket. Whether they rent our space to a new tennant, use it for
themselves, or have different plans all together, they believe they
can make more money with us gone.
We are trying to negotiate a new lease with our landlord. Part of what
we are doing is holding a series of benefit shows through the month
of August. People have asked what the money is being used for. Let me
explain. The money raised will be used to help cover our enormous legal
expenses in our effort to obtain a new lease. If the lease dispute is
resolved, these benefit shows will be a celebration and the money raised
will be used to donate to the BRC to help them in their support of the
homeless.
Many of the bands playing on these benefits are waiting to confirm dates...
and some bands have asked not to be advertized yet.
These are the bands that have confirmed with dates confirmed as well.

this summer on the inaugural GIGANTOUR package tour with Dream Theater,

- "Question!" TO BE SYSTEM OF A DOWN'S NEXT SINGLE
"Question!" will be the second single from System of a Down's
already Platinum record, Mezmerize, which was released on May 17, and
debuted at Number One on the Billboard/SoundScan charts. "Question!"
will go to radio on July 19, and follows the Top 5 smash, "B.Y.O.B."
Lyrics and music for "Question!" were written by Serj Tankian
with additional music by Daron Malakian, and is a haunting song that
examines mortality. According to Tankian, "I wrote 'Question!'
last year and I think it's one of the better songs that I've written
for the band. The subject of death is universal - what is death? What
happens afterwards? To me, it's very mystical."
In addition to writing more than half of the lyrics for both Mezmerize
and its companion disc Hypnotize (out late this fall), Tankian played
acoustic guitars, piano, and synths on the discs. Utilizing his state-of-the-art
and well-appointed home studio, he also handled the string arrangements
for the six songs that required them on the new release. "I enjoyed
working out the patterns for violins, cellos, violas, and other instruments,"
Tankian says.
"We mocked up the arrangements using samples, then got a real string
section into the studio."
On "Question!" and Mezmerize/Hypnotize as a whole, the working
relationship between Tankian and Malakian involved a great deal of reciprocity.
According to Malakian, "I might have a great chorus but I don't
think the verse is that great, so I'll ask Serj to make the verse better.
He does the same thing with me on songs that he writes."
System of a Down shot the video for "Question!" earlier this
month in Los Angeles with System's bassist Shavo Odadjian and Howard
Greenhalgh (Sneaker Pimps, Muse, Sting) co-directing. The video was
written by and based on a dream that Odadjian had, and is a surreal,
high-concept fairytale.
System of a Down will kick off their North American tour on August 4

- SOLEFALD TO RELEASE NEW ALBUM
SOLEFALD have finished recording the first part of their new saga, which
is based on Viking mythology and history, entitled Red for Fire + Black
for Death.
Red for Fire: An Icelandic Odyssey part 1 will be released through Season
of Mist, worldwide, before the end of 2005 and will quickly be followed
by Black for Death: An Icelandic Odyssey part 2 in early Spring 2006.
Part 1 features guest appearances by electronica singer Aggie Frost
Peterson, on the songs "Sun I Call" and "White Frost
Queen," and from Jormundur Ingi, the ancient supreme Godi of Iceland
(an Asatru priest), who reads the poem "Lokasenna" (an argument
between gods) on the last track of the album. The previously announced
guest appearance by Garm of Ulver will be featured on "Black for
Death."
SOLEFALD's new effort, a true Viking metal album according to its authors,
is produced by Borge Finnstad (MAYHEM, ARCTURUS etc.).
As SOLEFALD previously stated, "we were experimental when everybody
was trying to be as basic as possible. Now that we feel we've said what
we had to say in this field, and now that everybody is experimenting
one way or another, this is our attempt at being true." But considering
the individuals involved, expect something very unique to say the least!
And from what we've heard so far during a listening session with a few
selected journalists, this album will be a milestone in Scandinavian
Metal history! Metal

- BEAUTIFUL CREATURES TO RELEASE 'DEUCE' ON AUGUST 23, 2005
THROUGH SPITFIRE RECORDS
NEW YORK, (date) -- Beautiful Creatures puts a fresh spin on hard rock
and heavy metal. This kind of honest rock 'n' roll never goes away and
never will, it just takes on new shapes and forms.
The universe loves pure rock 'n' roll bands and will open its arms to
welcome the long-awaited Beautiful Creatures album Deuce on August 23,
2005. This is the band's first release for Spitfire Records, an imprint
of Eagle Rock Entertainment.
Deuce is a full-blooded hard rock/heavy metal album full of in-your-face
attitude and punchy, blast-furnace songs. The first single from Deuce
will be "Anyone.” The album also includes "Thanks,"
"Freedom," "Unforgiven," "Save Me," "Empty,"
"Never," "Super Fly," "Straight To Hell,"
"The Unknown," "Ton Of Lead," "Brand New Day"
and "I Won't Be The One."
Deuce, which was produced and mixed by Focx , is Beautiful Creatures'
second album. It's been four years since its self-titled debut was released.
The record company shakeups and band member changes that happened shortly
after that would destroy lesser bands. Not Beautiful Creatures.
Beautiful Creatures’ vocalist Joe LeSte, rhythm guitarist Anthony
Focx, lead guitarist Mark Simpson, bass guitarist Kenny Kweens and drummer
Timmy Russell are excited about the return of the band.
”It took a long time to complete Deuce because we didn't want
to have any throwaway songs on it," LeSte says. "It's a very
well-rounded album and we're very happy with it. We’re all focused
and have a very positive attitude.
"We're all about perseverance,” he continues. “You
have to remember that when our first album came out, there was no Darkness
or Velvet Revolver, and we endured being a ‘rock band.’
Yet we played with Kiss, then we played on Ozzfest and got a great reception
and then toured for another year."
The rabid, overwhelmingly positive reaction Beautiful Creatures received
from its early fans even exceeded what the veteran members had experienced
in their previous bands. LeSte was the lead vocalist with Bang Tango
and Simpson (a new addition to the band along with Russell) was the

- KEITH ALEXANDER PASSES ON
Original CARNIVORE guitarist Keith Alexander (later of the short-lived
PRIMAL SCREAM project) was reportedly killed in a bike accident Monday
night (July 11). In addition to playing with CARNIVORE, Alexander spent
a three-year stint with Dee Snider of TWISTED SISTER, touring extensively
throughout North America and Scandinavia, with some audiences numbering
over 20,000.
A body piercer since 1991, Keith had performed well over 22,000 piercings
and over 150 cuttings and brandings. He also had extensive experience
with play piercings. Formerly a staff piercer for Gauntlet, Inc. in
New York City, Keith spent one year as a full-time apprentice to master
piercers Dan Kopka and Mark Seitchik. Gauntlet founder Jim Ward issued
Keith's certificate on August 2, 1994. [Source: Blabbermouth]

- Mike Hill Ends ANODYNE, Focuses on Black Box Recordings
Anodyne founder and frontman Mike Hill has announced that Anodyne has
officially broken up. "I think that we've gone as far creatively
that we can. I don't see any more good music coming out of the three
of us playing together. It's time to move on," stated Hill.
Founded by Mike Hill in 1997, Anodyne made a name for itself over the
years as one of the heaviest and most hardworking bands in the US hardcore
scene. Before arriving at the final lineup of Hill, bassist Josh Scott,
and drummer Joel Stallings, Anodyne counted numerous notable members
in its ranks, including Dave Witte (Burnt By The Sun, Discordance Axis,
Municipal Waste) and Ayal Naor (27). Between '97 and '05, Anodyne released
one album on Level-Plane Records (Hot Cross, The Minor Times), two albums
on Escape Artist Records (Isis, Time In Malta) and a handful of EPs,
splits and compilation tracks on various other labels; the band played
an estimated 400 shows in North America and completed a full European
tour.
Hill states that he will now be focusing the majority of his time and
energy on Black Box Recordings, the independent label he founded in
2004. Based out of Hill's home in Brooklyn, New York, Black Box Recordings
has four releases under its belt to date, including: The First Four
Years, an Anodyne discography; Closed Coffin, a Black Army Jacket discography;
an Engineer/McCarthy Blacklist split 7" and Parapraxes, the debut
release by The Heuristic.

- BLACK LOTUS SIGNS CRUACHAN
Cruachan: (Cruachu, Cruachain, Rath Cruachain) the ancient capital of
the kingdom of Connacht, and the seat of Ailill and Medb in the Ulster
Cycle of Irish mythology. Its site is now known as Rathcroghan, a low
mound surrounded by a complex of archeological sites near Tulsk in County
Roscommon. A standing stone there is said to mark the grave of Dathi,
one of the last pagan High Kings of Ireland.
Cruachan: the name of an Irish Celtic metal band founded in 1992 by
Keith Fay after the end of Minas Tirith which was established 1989.
Cruachan mixes Celtic folk music, history, and mythology with Rock and
Metal. The band's first release in 1995 (Tuatha na Gael) was influenced
heavily by Black Metal, but today they incorporate all types of underground
metal into their sound. Recent work has defined Cruachan's unique sound

- THRASH AGAINST CANCER A SUCCESS
Over 700 metal fans turned out for the Thrash Against Cancer benefit
on July 9 at the Pound amphitheatre in San Francisco. Keith Regan, whose
family is one of the recipients of the proceeds from the show, was extremely
pleased with how the event turned out. "The crew from TAC deserves
the utmost respect and praise from my family and everyone who decided
to attend the show," Regan said. "They were instrumental in
every aspect of the behind the scenes and made the day go as smooth
as it could be. The show it self was incredible! All the people that
approached us had nothing but high praise to say about every band!"
Regan is looking into organizing another Thrash Against Cancer show
next year, possibly involving different genres of music, in order to
raise money for families with children who have pediatric cancer.

- JOHN 5: NEW RELEASE
‘SONGS FOR SANITY’ ON SHRAPNEL RECORDS
FEATURING STEVE VAI & ALBERT LEE
HOLLYWOOD (July 15, 2005) – “Songs For Sanity” is
a follow up to last year’s critically acclaimed “Vertigo.”
On this phenomenal new record, 5 exhibits incredible diversity as a
writer and guitarist. The album also further showcases him to be one
of the most technically advanced guitarists in the business today. Fans
of driving rhythms and ear-catching, over the top, guitar work will
keep this in their CD player for months on end.
John 5 offers a fresh approach to guitar instrumental music on his new
CD, which features a guest guitar solo from two of legendary guitarists
- Steve Vai and Albert Lee. “With these two particular guitar
players, they were both, from the first time I heard them, was a life
changing experience for me. It is a true honor to have on them on record,
” explains John 5.
John 5 came to the Shrapnel label after creating a worldwide following
as a widely respected guitarist with such platinum artists as Marilyn
Manson, David Lee Roth, and Rob Halford. These prior gigs were before
taking his notoriety to the next level with the release of “Vertigo”,
an album that many guitar fans described as “the guitar album
of the new millennium”. John 5’s eclectic influences combine
for a truly unique guitar oriented record that once again sets new standards
in the genre. With guitar sales near an all time high and last year’s
“Vertigo” still among Shrapnel’s current best sellers.
‘Songs For Sanity’ is sure to be the next top seller.
- Don Anderson is hard at work writing the third full-length, as yet
untitled SCULPTURED album. So far he has about half the album written.
The new material is further developing the musical language initiated
with "Apollo Ends."
Anderson says regarding the new songs, "I am really forcing myself
to look at the guitar neck in a whole new manner. By using matrices
I have to write most of the music out first and then learn it. It has
been a real challenge because I can't rely on melodic patterns that
have been ingrained into my hand for years. I am exploring new patterns
and working with stacking chords together into 'blocks of sound.' I
am really pleased with the new material." So far titles include
"The Shape Of Rage" "Bodies Without Organs" "Becoming
Something Other Than Death" "Help, I've Swallowed My Teeth"
and an untitled song currently being composed. The themes of the third
full-length are inspired by filmmaker David Cronenberg's "body
horror" films and postmodern philosophy. This is music for BRAVE
NEW EARS. Thanks for everyone's patience and support!”

- YNGWIE MALMSTEEN’S RISING FORCE TO RELEASE UNLEASH THE FURY
IN NORTH AMERICA
ON JULY 26, 2005, THROUGH SPITFIRE RECORDS
The long wait is over for fans of neo-classical rock guitar genius Yngwie
Malmsteen. The new Yngwie Malmsteen’s Rising Force album Unleash
The Fury will be released in North America on July 26, 2005, through
Eagle Rock Entertainment's Spitfire Records.
Unleash The Fury has already received rave reviews since hitting the
streets overseas. Malmsteen played all guitar and bass guitar parts
on the album and “Cherokee Warrior” features his lead vocals
as well. His Rising Force band includes vocalist Doogie White, keyboardist
Joakim Svalberg and drummer Patrick Johansson.
The new album bursts with 18 songs, including four instrumentals: “Locked
And Loaded,” “Revolution,” “Crackin” “The
Whip,” “Winds Of War (Invasion),” “Crown Of
Thorns,” “BogeyMan,” “Beauty And A Beast,”
“Fuguetta (Instrumental),” “Cherokee Warrior,”
“Guardian Angel (Instrumental),” “Let The Good Times
Roll,” “Revelation (Drinking With The Devil),” “Magic
And Mayhem (Instrumental),” “Exile,” “The Hunt,”
“Russian Roulette,” “Unleash The Fury” and “Paraphrase
(Instrumental)”. Both “Fuguetta” and “Paraphrase”
are variations of themes composed by Johann Sebastian Bach, one of Malmsteen’s
favorite composers. Unleash The Fury also features CD-ROM bonus clips
of Malmsteen demonstrating his signature guitar technique.
With 24 albums to his credit, Malmsteen has been a highly respected
musical visionary around the world for more than two decades for his
groundbreaking neo-classical style. But the Stockholm, Sweden native
is proud of the early praise Unleash The Fury has earned. He realized
early on that he nailed it with this album.
“In the last several years I’ve done a lot of experimental
things in this vein or that vein. Some were very song-oriented or classically
oriented or focused on a dark production. They were done deliberately.
On the last album, Attack!!, I went with whatever came out. It was very
spontaneous,” Malmsteen says.
“With Unleash The Fury I was very, very meticulous and very, very
particular about what I wanted. I was really involved with everything,
including drums – even when to use crash or ride cymbals. It was
a bit like putting a jigsaw puzzle together. I knew exactly what I wanted
to do with this album.”
Malmsteen spends a great deal of time writing his songs, and that includes
everything: overall instrumental and vocal melodies, solos and lyrics.
He enjoys writing lyrics as much as writing guitar and bass guitar parts,
and works on them carefully.
“I express myself with my lyrics just as much as I do with my
guitar. To me, the whole thing is one expression. Lyrics are poetry
in time with a melody,” Malmsteen says. “When the music
comes, it’s easy. It’s all improvisation. If I’m not
inspired, I don’t bother. But writing lyrics is a difficult process;
when it’s done, I find it was an enjoyable experience.”
He is also incredibly prolific, and one of the rewarding challenges
he embraces is choosing material.
“I have two recording studios at home, and one of them is a live
setup. Me and the drummer, Patrick Johansson, recorded about 43 demos
for this album,” says Malmsteen.
Having his own recording studios allows Malmsteen the luxury of creative
freedom without any restraints. Unexpected benefits happen too. The
main reason he sings lead vocals on “Cherokee Warrior” is
that he and the engineer were simply doing a soundcheck with a new microphone
and it sounded so good they decided to keep it.
Malmsteen, White, Johansson, Svalberg and touring bass guitarist Mick
Cervino have already begun a world tour, which will arrive in North
America later this year.
Unleash The Fury is one of the finest albums of Malmsteen’s career,
and its creation is rooted in one simple, yet profound belief: “I
have a philosophy: More is more, less is less. The idea that less is
more is illogical.”
Malmsteen's Concerto DVD, featuring his performance with the New Japan
Philharmonic orchestra, is also due from Eagle Rock on September 20,
2005. For more information, including all the latest news and tour dates,

current level. This is why INOCCULTA urgently seeks a rhythmic/lead
guitarist and a singer who is able to combine clear and Black Metal
voice. The band is looking for people motivated, open-minded and having
a good technique. INOCCULTA is in constant evolution and its influences
lie mainly in bands like In The Woods, Opeth, Forbidden Site and Katatonia.
Don't hesitate to contact us if you are interested !!
Following the departure of Spoliatorion, INOCCULTA will unfortunately
not be able to take part in the concert which was envisaged on September
17, 2005 in homage to Nancy and the band is thus forced to cancel it
in the absence of a valid line-up.

- BRIDES OF DESTRUCTION
“RUNAWAY BRIDES” TO RELEASE SEPTEMBER 27TH
ON SHRAPNEL RECORDS
“Sex is good, caffeine is a drug, greed is an addiction, love
based religions have killed millions in the name of their god and Jesus
loved the white trash of his time”…London LeGrande
HOLLYWOOD (July 17, 2005) - After Nikki Sixx succumbed to the demands
to reform Motley Crue, the undaunted co-founder, Tracii Guns, lead vocalist
London LeGrande and drummer Scot Coogan recruited former Amen bassist
Scott Sorry. Armed with a batch of strong new songs and a unified band
spirit, this new incarnation has not lost its step. The group soon entered
into a new record deal with Shrapnel Records founder Mike Varney. Varney
signed Brides of Destruction to his label Shrapnel/Ryko at the end of
2004 and they soon found themselves in the studio with veteran producer
Andy Johns (Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, and Free). The result
of this incredible union “Runaway Brides” is a staggering
collection of street lethal rock and roll, imbued with both the classic
rock & roll spirit and the edge of modern youth.
In the tradition of Brides of Destruction, the music continues to be
stripped down and raw with dark, melodic lyrics. The music is utterly
electrifying in the realms of Black Sabbath, The Sex Pistols and early
KISS.
The first single "WHITE TRASH" is exactly what it sounds like.
“The pot calls the kettle black ..money can’t buy class
...but in LA it’s all for free all you need is a casting couch,
a bloody scalpel and a sugar daddy,” recites LeGrande. It pays
homage to all the trailer-park-style culture and the people that try
to leave them. From there the Brides discharges a slew of slamming songs
like “Criminal”, “Deadman’s Ruin” and
“Lords of the Mind.” “This is the record we always
wanted to make,” states Tracii Guns. “It has a great blend
of modern rock heaviness with retro sounds and styles. It is the perfect
‘Brides’ record of today. ”

- NIGHTWISH ENDS THEIR WORLD TOUR IN HELSINKI
TUSKA WINTER EVENT DEPARTMENT BACK IN ACTION - THE GRANDE FINALE OF
NIGHTWISH WORLD TOUR AT THE HARTWALL ARENA IN HELSINKI
The greatest and the most beautiful of all exports of the Finnish music
industry, Nightwish, will once again up the ante in terms of how far
a Finnish group can take their show. On the 21st of October, Nightwish
will bring their performance to the Hartwall Arena in Helsinki. This
is something a very few Finnish acts have accomplished and the magnitude
of the show is second to none.
Once Upon A Tour 2004-2005 has been selling out venues around the world
for nearly eighteen months and the group are now keen to end the tour
on their home turf. At more than 150 shows on all continents, more than
one million spectators have witnessed the Nightwish-Spectacle. The Hartwall
Arena -show will be their last before Nightwish take a lengthy time-out,
estimated to last for at least eighteen months, during which they will
compose and record the follow up to their highly successful Once-Album.
To add fuel to the fire, the Nightwish has decided to record the show
in order to release it on a later date as a full-length DVD. The director
will be Antti Jokinen who is known for directing the Nemo music video,
among many other major music videos. The show will be recorded with
twenty cameras, which is unheard of in Finland. But then again, not
many bands have sold 2,5 million records and are able to present a spectacle
featuring such an arsenal of sound, light, visuals and pyro effects.
Nightwish's last Finnish appearance before this summer's three festival
shows took place at the Helsinki Icehall on December 26th 2004. It didn't
take more than a few hours to sell out the 6500 capacity venue.
The night at the Hartwall Arena will be kicked off by Sonata Arctica.
The band will complement their on-going Finnish festival tour with 14-show
European tour, which will take them through eight countries. In addition
to this very special appearance, Sonata Arctica will only perform a
few selected Finnish dates this year. The band's latest album, Reckoning
Night, has also been one the greatest success stories in Finnish metal.
Tickets for this unique event will go on sale on 25.7. at 9:00 through
Lippupalvelu.
The concert is presented in cooperation with Radio City, whose metal
program Rautakanki will offer special features and contests regarding
this event, as well as SUE-Magazine, the biggest music magazine in Finland.

- YNGWIE MALMSTEEN’S RISING FORCE TO RELEASE UNLEASH THE FURY
IN NORTH AMERICA
ON JULY 26, 2005, THROUGH SPITFIRE RECORDS
The long wait is over for fans of neo-classical rock guitar genius Yngwie
Malmsteen. The new Yngwie Malmsteen’s Rising Force album Unleash
The Fury will be released in North America on July 26, 2005, through
Eagle Rock Entertainment's Spitfire Records.
Unleash The Fury has already received rave reviews since hitting the
streets overseas. Malmsteen played all guitar and bass guitar parts
on the album and “Cherokee Warrior” features his lead vocals
as well. His Rising Force band includes vocalist Doogie White, keyboardist
Joakim Svalberg and drummer Patrick Johansson.
The new album bursts with 18 songs, including four instrumentals: “Locked
And Loaded,” “Revolution,” “Crackin” “The
Whip,” “Winds Of War (Invasion),” “Crown Of
Thorns,” “BogeyMan,” “Beauty And A Beast,”
“Fuguetta (Instrumental),” “Cherokee Warrior,”
“Guardian Angel (Instrumental),” “Let The Good Times
Roll,” “Revelation (Drinking With The Devil),” “Magic
And Mayhem (Instrumental),” “Exile,” “The Hunt,”
“Russian Roulette,” “Unleash The Fury” and “Paraphrase
(Instrumental)”. Both “Fuguetta” and “Paraphrase”
are variations of themes composed by Johann Sebastian Bach, one of Malmsteen’s
favorite composers. Unleash The Fury also features CD-ROM bonus clips
of Malmsteen demonstrating his signature guitar technique.
With 24 albums to his credit, Malmsteen has been a highly respected
musical visionary around the world for more than two decades for his
groundbreaking neo-classical style. But the Stockholm, Sweden native
is proud of the early praise Unleash The Fury has earned. He realized
early on that he nailed it with this album.
“In the last several years I’ve done a lot of experimental
things in this vein or that vein. Some were very song-oriented or classically
oriented or focused on a dark production. They were done deliberately.
On the last album, Attack!!, I went with whatever came out. It was very
spontaneous,” Malmsteen says.
“With Unleash The Fury I was very, very meticulous and very, very
particular about what I wanted. I was really involved with everything,
including drums – even when to use crash or ride cymbals. It was
a bit like putting a jigsaw puzzle together. I knew exactly what I wanted
to do with this album.”
Malmsteen spends a great deal of time writing his songs, and that includes
everything: overall instrumental and vocal melodies, solos and lyrics.
He enjoys writing lyrics as much as writing guitar and bass guitar parts,
and works on them carefully.
“I express myself with my lyrics just as much as I do with my
guitar. To me, the whole thing is one expression. Lyrics are poetry
in time with a melody,” Malmsteen says. “When the music
comes, it’s easy. It’s all improvisation. If I’m not
inspired, I don’t bother. But writing lyrics is a difficult process;
when it’s done, I find it was an enjoyable experience.”

- CRYPTOPSY COMPLETE NEW ALBUM
Montreal’s “extreme metal champions” Cryptopsy, “the
most technically proficient and mind-jarring death metal band on the
planet” (BW&BK), have completed recordings for their yet-to-be
titled October release. Guitar player Alex Auburn checked in with the
following wrap up: “We have finished the fifth full-length Cryptopsy
album. We started recording the album on May 16th at Vortex Studio in
St-Constant, about 20 minutes south of Montreal. It was really fun and
quiet recording there, as not a lot goes on in a small city like that,
so we really focused on recording. Eleven tracks totaling about 50 minutes,
this is a concept album where every song has its own identity, and we
made sure to have a lot of flavors and different rhythms and tempos
throughout the whole process. The variations in the tracks may surprise
some of you. The goal this time around was to focus on writing excellent
songs, which we did. Producer Sebastien Marsan did a phenomenal job,
and we are glad he took the time to work with us. Finally, this album
will be out soon, and we can't wait to see you all when we hit the road
with this new material.”
Touring extensively across North America this fall with Suffocation
and Aborted, Cryptopsy are ready to bring the worms to your town, dates
follow. More information on the band can be found at their official
website, or at www.centurymedia.com.

- THE MASS "Perfect Picture Of Wisdom And Boldness" Album
Coming In September
Crucial Blast will release the 2nd full length album from Oakland, California's
THE MASS on September 13th, 2005, entitled "Perfect Picture Of
Wisdom And Boldness". Crucial Blast will release the album for
North America. The European version will be released through Monotreme
Records in the UK.
The 2nd album from Oakland California's THE MASS further refines the
band's unique brand of malevolent indie-thrash, oozing a crawling heaviness
not apparent on earlier releases. Crushing, epic, and melodic...moving
beyond the hyperkinetic seizures of the band's 2003 debut full length
"City Of Dis" (released in North America by Crucial Blast
in early 2005), here THE MASS whip out blazing, staccato riffs and multifaceted
vocal attacks that knife through complex structures and sludgy, epic
elegies, as wicked saxophone melodies interweave with angular crunch
and creepy nocturnal post-rock. Like a stuttering, bat-winged Bay Area
thrash metal outfit arming itself with Louisville/Chicago schooled math-thug
asymmetry, pounding dirges, and fierce, evocative mutant jazz flourishes
while lobbing some whopping bonged-out grooves. THE MASS continues to
evolve its cryptic heaviosity.
"We went for a heavier, more epic vibe this time..." commented
drummer Tyler Cox. "We came up with a dirgy record with more melody,
girth and headbanging appeal. I think we also found a greater songwriting
approach in that we spent more time thinking of the songs as stories
with beginnings, middles, and ends."
The Mass will tour the United States in September 2005 in support of
"Perfect Picture Of Wisdom And Boldness".

- TOTIMOSHI sophomore album Mysterioso to be re-issued in North America,
announce US tour.
Crucial Blast will re-issue the second full length album from Oakland,
California psych-fuzz sludge rockers Totimoshi on August 9th. Totimoshi
was formed by singer/songwriter/guitarist Tony Aguilar and bassist Meg
Castellanos in November 1997. The band has toured constantly throughout
the United States, and have built a strong, loyal following for their
innovative and heavy
underground rock assault.
Hailing from Oakland, California, Totimoshi has three releases under
their collective belt: 1999's self-titled, self-released debut CD, their
sophomore full length Mysterioso? (Crucial Blast, 2002), and Monoli'
(This Dark Reign, 2003). They have worked with acclaimed producers Billy
Anderson (Mr. Bungle, Fantomas, Sleep, Neurosis) and Alex Newport (At
the Drive In, Melvins), respectively. The past few years has found Totimoshi
and their releases on various year's best Top 10 lists, and in
May 2003 was chosen as "Best Rock Band" in California's East
Bay Express. Appearances at Emissions From The Monolith and Stoner Hands
of Doom Festivals have further solidified their place in the contemporary
heavy rock scene, which has culminated in supporting the likes of Helmet,
Melvins, and High On Fire on tour in 2004.
Crucial Blast will re-issue the band's 2002 full length, Mysterioso,
as a special enhanced CD on August 9th, 2005, and will include an exclusive
video for "Cellophane", directed by Lyn Gaza, a tour video
featuring new music from the band, and all-new artwork and package design.
"Mysterioso" intersects earthquake-heavy rock and wicked sludge
riffage with the wiry hooks and dynamics of 80's post-punk / new wave,
Spanish melodies, and an adventurous, occasionally improvisational fuzz
attack. It's like someone gave an old Beggars Banquet band a cocktail
of steroids, huge amps, and battered copies of Melvins' Stoner Witch
and Mainliner's Mellow Out. Heavy, crunchy, catchy, hypnotic - "Mysterioso"
winds, grinds, and explodes every step of the way.
Totimoshi will tour the United States in August-September 2005 in support
of Mysterioso, and will make their first-ever Canadian appearance in
Toronto, Ontario on August 28th.

- SEVENDUST SIGNS NEW RECORD DEAL
Readies to release new album, Next, October 11th
New York, NY (June 27, 2005) – Sevendust is teaming up with innovative
record label WineDark Records which is distributed in the U.S. by Fontana
Distribution, a division of Universal Music and Video Distribution (UMVD),
for the upcoming release of their latest record, Next. Sevendust is
the Atlanta, GA-based rock group who clawed their way through the late
1990s and early 2000s with a string of hit albums, forming the backbone
of a sound and attitude that defies genre classification. Beginning
with their 1997 self-titled debut and continuing through to their most
recent record, Seasons, Sevendust, despite a self described “roller
coaster ride,” has sold nearly four million units in the US alone
and is poised to expand it’s domain to the rest of the world.
Sevendust commented : “It was amazing to see the reaction to what
we had created from such a large percentage of the record industry.
After weighing many options we decided to sign with WineDark Records
who subsequently offered us our own record label imprint, 7Bros. Records.
The excitement that we feel from WineDark Records, is something we have
never felt before. The end result is truly gratifying”
WineDark Records, is the latest project from music industry executives
Michael Powlen, Gary Katz, Camille M. Barbone, and Larry Stessel. Katz,
Barbone and Stessel have previously spearheaded many artist projects
and have helped amass a combined sales tally of well over 100 million
records.
Powlen added : “Sevendust coming to WineDark Records is the birth
of a new and mutually beneficial relationship between a record company
and band in which both collaborate on every aspect of the recording,
marketing and dissemination of the music. These guys are successful
because their music is truly original. They connect with their fans
by communicating a mutual love and respect. Who they are on stage reflects
their off-stage energy, sincerity and integrity, and in the final analysis,
their music says it all.”
Sevendust’s fifth record, Next, will be available on October 11th,
2005.

The Structure is posted on the bands' site as well: http://www.recoursemetal.com/multi.html
The metal press world is taking to the young Deleware outfit rather
well, with response from regional, national and online outlets coughing
up excellnet reviews right next to the teeth this album had 'em spitting
like Chicklets.... check it out:
"Blending its influences (D.R.I., Dying Fetus, Hatebreed) seamlessly,
Recourse delivers a cohesive record with hardcore attitude and American
death metal execution. Swedish wizardry and obtuse math metal passages
are nowhere to be found, a welcome respite from recent metal's far too
common mélange." - Chord Magazine
"Weakening The Structure combines old school thrash, modern day
hardcore, and death metal style riffing to create an in your face audio
bludgeoning." - Valley Scene Magazine
"A goddamn excellent release with great packaging and cover art,
Recourse are one of the best deathcore bands I have ever heard. Highly
recommended." - Jackal Blaster Webzine
"The angry, bastard children of Pantera continue to multiply, and
Maryland’s Recourse are amongst the spawn. There’s a direct
line from the agro-hardcore metal thrashings on Weakening the Structure
to those laid out on Vulgar Display of Power... With the angry barking
and machine-like playing, it’s an open invitation to mosh and
elbow someone in the throat." - Stonerrock.com

- MASTERPLAN US RELEASE DATE CONFIRMED
Philadelphia: Candlelight Records with AFM Records confirm September
20 as the US release date for Aeronautics, the second album from German-based
metal/hard rock band Masteplan. It is the first record via the two label's
recently announced agreement for the North American territory.
Released to critical acclaim throughout Europe earlier this year, Aeronautics
is a true gem. A timeless record that will appeal to fans of traditional
heavy metal (Dio, Whitesnake), progressive rock/metal (Dream Theater,
Symphony X) as well the more adventurous fans of Opeth, Iced Earth and
others, it rocks with the best of them, mastering emotion with a keen
musicianship that is second to none. Germany's Metal Heart calls Aeronautics,
“a masterpiece of maximum perfection and harmony.” Rock
Hard says, "absolutely essential!“
