  • Regain Records signs NYHC veterans MERAUDER

Regain Records is very proud to announce the signing of NYHC veterans MERAUDER! Jorge Rosado (vocals) has issued the following statement: "MERAUDER, the metalcore kings and creators, are teaming up with Regain Records to bring you the long awaited album titled God Is I. This is one of the most important and brutal records we've ever worked on and it's all worth it!!! Come out and support us on tour with THE HAUNTED.."

The most focused recording since the band's classic album Master Killer, God Is I finds MERAUDER in perfect shape. Melding the bands roots with modern bite, the intent becomes immediately clear within seconds of the albums sucker punch opening riff; “Until” hones in on its listener and the chase begins. Runaway freight train grooves, mid-pace stomps, seething gang vocals and death metal drenched riffs all find themselves vying for supremacy amidst their patented NYHC delivery.

God Is I is set for release on Regain Records June 19th, 2009.

  • SUSPERIA: Singer's Operation A Success Despite Further Complications

Oslo, Norway -- Despite further complications SUSPERIA singer Athera (Pal Mathiesen) successfully underwent open heart surgery on Monday March 16th 2009 at Rikshospitalet University Hospital, Oslo, Norway. Originally scheduled to have a triple bypass operation, surgeons discovered further problems which resulted in the vocalist also having a main artery - which previously ran to his lungs -connected directly to his heart. Athera will remain in hospital to recuperate and has been advised by doctors that full recovery will take between three and five months.

Still in some agony from his ordeal and in reflective mood, Athera said: "Wow - Well what happened there?! It looks like this time my name wasn't on the guest list at the pearly gates or the other place down below. I got through the surgery and I'm now back in the regional hospital after five days at the specialist heart clinic. Here in my hospital bed I'm contemplating the enormity of what happened - the what ifs and the what might have been. I'm in agony but the strong medication helps. It was a heavy operation having my body parts re-arranged - If a musician ever needed a "TUNE UP," I hope this was it. There are some tough times ahead but I will get there in the end."

Commenting further on the messages of support and with an eye on the future he added: "I'm truly amazed at people's humanity at times like this, with all the goodwill messages I've been getting from friends and strangers. Once again the metal community comes through with flying colors, putting their prejudices aside to come together as one. Respect to those who took the time to send messages of support. It's heart-warming to get messages from metalheads who don't have the time of day for my band yet still find the time to send a message. You all helped me get through this, and strengthened my metal heart! .I will be out of the game for a while till my chest bones completely heal and I can sing fully again. I wish my boys a good trip round the UK in May on the tour, and am confident they will bring along a singer that will make the show worth while for you. I wish I could be there, "

As previously reported, SUSPERIA have confirmed the postponement of Norwegian dates, which were set for April 09. Their UK tour in May with Breed 77 will go ahead at the insistence of Athera himself, having urged the band not to let their UK fans down and to look at finding a replacement vocalist.

The release of SUSPERIA's next studio album is set for early summer as planned, through Candlelight Records. Full details will be announced shortly.

  • WARBRINGER post new song!

Road dogs WARBRINGER are currently slaying audiences across America alongside Soilwork and Darkane. Before hitting the road, the band completed work on their sophomore album, titled “Waking Into Nightmares”, with producer Gary Holt (Exodus) and mixing duties being handled by Zack Ohren (Suffocation, All Shall Perish).

WARBRINGER is now excited to give fans a taste of the new record and have posted the brand-new song “Severed Reality” on their official MySpace. A video for the track was filmed by the extraordinary Dave Brodsky (Black Dahlia Murder, Suicide Silence) last month.

    WARBRINGER comments:

“’Severed Reality’ is one of the first songs we wrote for “Waking Into Nightmares”. Some of the riffs even date back to before we did the first record. When we started writing for the new album this was one of the first songs to come together and has been a favorite of ours since. We have been playing this song live since the Overkill tour last September-October, and it’s always gotten a great live reaction. It’s a really heavy, fast number with some of my favorite lyrics we have. You figure it out.”

“Waking Into Nightmares” will be released on May 19, 2009 (US) and May 25, 2009 (Europe) via Century Media Records. The time to thrash is now!

  • GREAT WHITE To Release New Album

“RISING” on Shrapnel Records April 21st

    TOUR DATES ANNOUNCED

HOLLYWOOD, CA – Multi-Platinum rock band Great White, celebrated the 25th anniversary of the band’s inception with the release of BACK TO THE RHYTHM in 2006. The band’s new record RISING is a no holds barred, all original LP that is among their strongest releases to date. The bands new CD is their second studio recording in 10 years and features 11 brilliant new compositions penned by the band.

An international phenomenon, Great White has been reported to have sold in excess of 10 million units internationally, including the double platinum “...Twice Shy,” which spawned the Grammy-nominated Ian Hunter cover of “Once Bitten, Twice Shy.” With other hits such as “Rock Me,” “Face The Day” and “Save Your Love” cranked up around the world, Great White established themselves to the masses as a classic rock band with memorable riffs, steeped in the hallowed tradition of blues and rock and roll.

Eschewing an 80’s production in favor of a retro/modern one, long-time band producer and keyboardist Michael Lardie captures the essence of Great White with a sound that has more in common with the Rolling Stones, Aerosmith and Led Zeppelin than that of their contemporaries. Unlike many bands of the era that are making new records, Great White consists of nearly all original members. The guitar and vocal team of Jack Russell and Mark Kendall are stronger than ever on this explosive new CD and have a unique synergy, not unlike Plant/Page, Tyler/Perry or Jagger/Richards.

  • PESTILENCE is BACK – PATRICK MAMELI OPEN FOR INTERVIEWS

RESURRECTION MACABRE to Release April 9th, 2009 On Mascot Records U.S.A.

HOLLYWOOD, CA – Pestilence returns after 15 years of deathlike silence to release the brand new studio album Resurrection Macabre. It’s a stunning musical statement that will bring the band back to the forefront of the international death metal community. The album is a display of the timeless power of brutal death metal with modern day technique and skill of experienced musicians.

The brand new album was recorded in Denmark, with producer Jacob Hansen. The new incarnation of Pestilence consists of original band member Patrick Mameli, the American bass wizard Tony Choy (Atheist, Cynic, a.o.) and powerhouse drummer Peter Wildoer (Arch Enemy, Darkane, a.o.). Guitar player Patrick Uterwijk will join the band for the live shows.

“When so many people asked to resurrect Pestilence it got me thinking’” explains Patrick Mameli. “For many years it was a closed chapter. I have always been very clear about that. The last couple of years I discovered, to my amazement, that the band had not been forgotten, but still meant a lot to many fans. So there were a few things that got the ball rolling. First of all the fans. I also noticed that old school death metal was making a come-back. It did wet my appetite. I discovered that I felt the urge to get involved again with the great musical tradition that is death metal. I wanted to leave my own mark again. Another important factor was that I knew that with Tony Choy and Peter Wildoer by my side I had found the right people to make this dream come true. These guys are both absolutely stunning musicians. Simply the best one could wish for. Their creative input on the album is invaluable.”

The result of many months of hard work is aptly titled Resurrection Macabre. The new album has everything to offer that a fan of Pestilence – old and new – possibly could wish for. And more. It has the dark atmosphere, brutal vocals, sheer power and technical skills – always the trademarks of Pestilence. Patrick Mameli stresses that his band is not going to take the easy ride of nostalgia. ,,I don’t want to rely on successes of the past. This is not a reunion, but a second life for Pestilence. That’s why we wanted to mark our comeback with a new studio album. Stylistically it goes back to the days of Consuming Impulse and Testimony Of the Ancients, but it’s also apparent that time did not stand still. I am a better musician than a was back then. Compared to the old days the technical possibilities are limitless.”

Another link to the glory days of the past are the three old Pestilence songs that get a new life on the new album: Chemo Therapy, Out Of the Body and Lost Souls, all coming from the first two Pestilence albums. ,,It seemed like a good idea to connect ourselves to our musical past. Apart from that I liked the idea of revisiting those old songs and to see what they would sound like when performed and recorded in this advanced day and age.”

Following the release of Resurrection Macabre Pestilence will support the album old heavy metal style: by hitting the road for a still growing number of gigs worldwide. The first responses of fans, promoters and media are overwhelming and unanimous: Pestilence are back!

For the past few years, Judas Priest has unquestionably ruled the U.S. summer concert scene, having been a part of both the top-grossing Ozzfest and Metal Masters tours. And this summer, Priest has done it again, by uniting with Whitesnake for a series of stateside shows. Priest will be celebrating the '30th Anniversary' of the classic album 'British Steel' (it was originally issued in April 1980), by performing the album in its entirety for the very first time ever live on stage!!! In addition they will be playing some old favorites.

Along with 1982's 'Screaming for Vengeance' and 1990's 'Painkiller,' 'British Steel' has long been considered one of metal's all-time classics. It was with this release that Priest truly broke through to the masses, with a pair of tracks that have become fixtures on rock radio - the enduring anthems "Breaking the Law" and "Living After Midnight." But like all classic albums, there is not a single weak track detected on 'British Steel,' as evidenced by such standouts as the perennial concert highlight, "Metal Gods," as well as "Rapid Fire," "Grinder," "United," and "The Rage," among others.

Produced by Tom Allom, 'British Steel' was recorded at the Tittenhurst Park in England - which is a mansion owned at the time by former Beatle Ringo Starr, and previously owned by John Lennon and Yoko Ono. In 2001, the album was remastered and reissued with extra bonus tracks, and also, was the subject of an in-depth study as part of the popular 'Classic Albums' DVD series.

Judas Priest - singer Rob Halford, guitarists Glenn Tipton and K.K. Downing, bassist Ian Hill, and drummer Scott Travis - remain as popular as ever to this day, confirmed once and for all upon the release of 2008's 'Nostradamus,' which became their highest-ever charting album in the U.S. Two years earlier, the group was the inaugural inductees into the 'VH1 Rock Honors.' The forthcoming summer dates with Whitesnake are surely not to be missed by metalheads from coast to coast, especially now that fans will be reintroduced up close and personal to the mighty 'British Steel.'

Along with Priest, Whitesnake is certainly one of the most instantly identifiable names in all of hard rock. Priest and Whitesnake toured together in 2005 (in Mexico and South America), resulting in such a well-received and great package that since then, both groups have been planning to work together again. This summer, U.S. fans will finally get their wish.

"The opportunity to perform live on stage in its entirety the whole of 'BRITISH STEEL' is a dream come true for all of us! We're really excited and looking forward to presenting the album live on stage - fans will be able to enjoy a taste of true heavy metal when it was in its early, raw state!" said the group in a statement. "Plus, we will of course be throwing in a few other Priest classics!"

  • THE SEVEN GATES PREVIEW TRACKS FROM UPCOMING ALBUM

French death metal masters THE SEVEN GATES will have their debut album Angel of Suffering unleashed on the masses in the United States on May 12th and in Europe on June 2nd 2009. As a primer, HEAVY ARTILLERY is offering a preview of the album’s title track “Angel of Suffering” as well as “The Serpent’s Wheel” on both the label and band’s myspace profiles.

Born from the ashes of revered French underground metal acts Daemonium, Akhenaton and late 80’s French death metal pioneers Mutilated, THE SEVEN GATES began their assault in 2006 with the release of their “All is In All” demo. In 2007 the band followed up with a self-released EP entitled Gehenna’s Sword, gaining THE SEVEN GATES praise from the European metal press and earning them a spot on several “Best of 2007” lists in many of the Europe’s leading metal publications. That same year, the bands’ first tour evoked frenzied interest from fans and further praise from the press, rousing the attention of New York’s HEAVY ARTILLERY RECORDS who quickly offered the band a place on their roster.

Mastered by renown French engineer Jean-Pierre Bouquet, Angel of Suffering delivers 10 tracks of old-school death metal with an endless supply of hooks, masterful musicianship and a sufficient dose of pure fucking evil, sure to please fans of early Deicide, Morbid Angel, Autopsy and early death metal in general.

  • ARSIS: ORIGINAL DRUMMER MIKE VANDYNE RETURNS TO LINE-UP

Original drummer and founding member of ARSIS Michael VanDyne - who played on the band’s 2004 highly praised debut album, A Celebration Of Guilt, 2005’s A Diamond For Disease EP, and 2006’s United In Regret - has officially returned to the band’s line-up.

VanDyne has this to say about his homecoming:

"I'm looking forward to working with my friend Jim again, as well as the great people at Nuclear Blast. Judging by the new material that [guitarist/singer] Jim [Malone] and [guitarist] Nick [Cordle] have been working on, I think we may be sitting on some of the most memorable and thrashy ARSIS material written to date. Due to obligations with my full-time career, session drummers will most likely be utilized for big tours that Jim wishes to do in the future... However, regional shows and occasional mini-tours or festival gigs either here in North America or overseas are a definite possibility (and something I'd be totally psyched to do) if our collective schedules allow it. Good times."

Jim Malone offers the following statement:

"I can't say how excited I am to be working Mike Van Dyne again; ARSIS would have never existed in the first place had it not been for him and his motivation. It's very hard to find people to work with that you can connect both as musicians and as friends. Mike has always been both of these. I can't wait to start demoing some new material with Mike and Nick. While [drummer] David Kinkade did a great job for ARSIS and he may still play live with us from time to time, I can't pass up the opportunity to work with Mike Van Dyne again. I have the a feeling the vibe will be amazing and feel confident that we’ll make ARSIS stronger and better than ever. We have the best fans in the world behind us and they deserve the best we have to offer!”

  • JACKSON® BLOODLINE TOUR BRINGS "METAL MASTER CLASSES"
TO JACKSON DEALERS THROUGHOUT THE UNITED STATES

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - Jackson is proud to announce the Jackson Bloodline Tour at local music stores throughout the United States featuring "Metal Master Classes" with Jackson's own Chris Cannella.

Cannella is not only Jackson's Product Manager and Artist Relations representative, but also a formidably-talented guitarist, songwriter and vocalist who wields his many Jackson guitar models in his North American metal band Autumn's End.

Despite his intense and intimidating appearance, Cannella is a soft-spoken walking encyclopedia of metal in general and Jackson in particular. Musicians and music fans are invited to join Chris as he demonstrates and explains his lightening-fast guitar techniques, not by using his own gear, but rather whatever's in the store at the time. Additionally, he'll provide tone tricks and overall guitar setup tips.

Cannella will also explain Jackson's dark yet colorful past; explain the brand's unique Bloodline and genre-defining, groundbreaking firsts-such as the advent of the original Rhoads guitar, insane custom paint jobs, and compound radius fingerboards. He'll show how Jackson can find a home in other musical genres, share a little music theory, and discuss soloing styles and speed. Through all of it, he'll open the floor to answer any questions you might have regarding all-things Jackson.

The Jackson Bloodline Tour dates take place at the following Jackson dealers:

  • ABSU MOMENTUM RUNNING HIGH
    TOUR KICKING OFF EARLY JUNE

ABSU performed their first live show in nearly eight years on Friday, March 20. The special appearance, part of the annual South-By-Southwest Music Festival, received glowing reviews from the Austin Chronicle: “ABSU left to a ringing chant of their name, thus making it clear that this 18-year pillar of metal still reigns supreme in the land of the dark.” The show featured selections from the band’s recently released, self-titled new album. In its first month, the record has sold out three pressings as fans have rushed to buy the album currently enjoying its third week at the number 2 position on the CMJ college/hard rock charts.

Drummer/vocalist Proscriptor says, “the feedback from our eponymous-titled album has been overwhelmingly positive and a reaction I was not expecting. This is just the beginning of our insidious magic(k) and mystery.” Recently featured as the cover story for Metal Maniacs, Absu is the first to offer new material since the trio’s critically acclaimed album Tara (2001, Osmose Productions). Terrorizer Magazine calls Absu, “a sound incarnate of a band making the underground amazing again… an undeniable masterpiece.” KNAC.com adds, “a captivating album that weaves together black metal, death metal, prog and Sumerian legend into one awe-inspiring package.” MetalSucks.net also notes, “the crux of Absu is a ridiculously tight band playing perhaps their best songs ever.”

ABSU announced their upcoming US tour prior to Christmas and are now preparing for the nationwide trek. The tour set to kick off June 6 in San Marcos, California and wrap up June 29 in the band’s hometown of Dallas, Texas originally noted to feature support from labelmates GLORIOR BELLI, AVERSE SEFIRA and SOTHIS. The lineup has had a recent change with Philadelphia-based RUMPELSTILTSKIN GRINDER replacing AVERSE SEFIRA. Guitarist Matt Moore comments, "RUMPELSTILTSKIN GRINDER is excited to steal all hope from the holy along with ABSU, GLORIOR BELLI and SOTHIS as part of the ultimate black-thrash campaign for North American annihilation."

France’s GLORIOR BELLI make their first trip to North America in support of ABSU. The band’s new album, Meet Us At The Southern Sign, will be released on June 6 and will be available for sale during the tour. Infestvvs says, “it is obviously a great honor for GLORIOR BELLI to be part of the tour and support the return of ABSU. One question however remains; will you rise and prove yourself strong enough to bear the forbidden flame with us or will you get burned by the fires of illumination?” Popular metal portal Metalkult.com today premieres the song “In Every Grief-Stricken Blues” from the new album. The band is now completing a special advance video that will premiere via their official MySpace page in the coming weeks.

SOTHIS released their debut, De Oppresso Liber, on September 2. Mixed by Andy LaRocque (King Diamond), the record has enjoyed growing and consistent sales since release. This will be the band’s first national tour. Band leader Dross says, “we are really looking forward to conquering stages on the upcoming tour and are proud to share a stage with such strong bands. As of this weekend, we have completed the video for the title track of our recently released CD, De Oppresso Liber, so you should be hearing news of where it will debut very soon.”

    - Tommy Lindal, ex-Theatre of Tragedy guitarist, who is living now in Brazil, recorded guitar parts for Ravenland's debut, entitled "...and A Crow Brings Me Back", being the second guest to be featured on the album, along with Ricardo Confessori (Angra, Shaman), who recorded the drums, besides of producing the album.

About the cooperation, Tommy Lindal comments: "I got the invitation from Dewindson to appear on their new upcomming "And a Crow Brings me Back" some time back, he also sent me some songs of the recording for me to choose for what to work on. I really liked the music they made, the sound was quite different and original from the sound I'm used to in Europe. I accepted and went to record in Natal, RN in December.

During the wait for Richardo [Confessori - Angra' and Shaman's drummer] recording, adding and deleting stuff to give me a final mix to relate with, especially on one song, where I play somekind of lead-melody, I was depending a lot on the background-music they already had made, so it was frustrating at times, but I resolved the issue buy recording a 2nd guitar, so it came out well. I had a very close contact with Dewindson and Camilla. They are both very comunicative people and soon we became very close friends. I had my own work aswell (forming my new band called ...in Deviltry, here in Brazil) but I still found space for my passion which is playing and composing.

We still have a great friendship, and now I am only waiting to listen the final result This cd is really worked through really carefully, nice producer, great mixer and with a great arrangement both musically and productively, so I am very excited about this!"

The band's debut will be released soon and will feature 14 new tracks and two multimedia videos. Samples of Ravenland's music are available at www.myspace.com/ravenland

  • NEW HEAVEN & HELL SINGLE BIBLE BLACK NOW AVAILABLE FOR DOWNLOAD

Exclusive 7" Vinyl Single Available For Record Store Day on April 18

New Album The Devil You Know Available April 28 From Rhino

LOS ANGELES -- "Bible Black," the first single from Heaven & Hell's highly anticipated new album THE DEVIL YOU KNOW, is now available for download from all digital retailers. The epic tale was one of the first songs written for the new album and finds the quartet of Ronnie James Dio, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Vinny Appice in top form. "When you start off with a blockbuster like that, it makes the rest of the album so much easier because it gives you a benchmark to measure the other songs against," says Dio. "Bible Black" begins with Iommi on acoustic guitar behind Dio's plaintive wail before the rhythm shifts to a menacing stomp for the rest of this dark tale about a book of sinister scriptures. The song is also streaming at myspace.com/heavenandhellmusic.

A limited edition 7" vinyl single of "Bible Black" will be available exclusively for this year's Record Store Day on April 18 for a suggested list price of $5.98. • BEHEMOTH TAPS COLIN RICHARDSON FOR NEW ALBUM MIX!

BEHEMOTH has tapped Colin Richardson (Machine Head, Slipknot, Napalm Death, Carcass) to mix their new, as of yet untitled album due out late summer 2009. The CD is now being recorded in Radio Gdansk in Poland with BEHEMOTH, Daniel Bergstrand and Woytek, and Slawek Wieslawscy as producers.

BEHEMOTH's main man Nergal said in the press release: “I'm beyond excited about this new album. It's not just the finest piece of music we've ever made, but it's also the most mature tunes we've created without compromising our sound. I'm stoked about Colin Richardson involvement in the mix of the record. We've tried to book him for our last album The Apostasy, but due to busy schedule he wasn't available then. He's name needs no introduction. I have absolutely no doubts that Colin will deliver and I'm expecting new album to have the sound that's bigger than life!”

Commented Colin: “Nergal has sent me three songs which are guitars/bass/drums live from the rehearsal room and the material sounds fantastic already. I am really looking forward to mixing this album. It's going to be great mixing an extreme heavy band again, especially as it's the mighty Behemoth.”

In other news, BEHEMOTH's Orion, Seth and Nergal will take part in a signing session at the ESP booth on April 4 at the Musikmesse Frankfurt 2009 fair in Frankfurt, Germany. Signing will take place at 3.15 pm. For more information go HERE.

  • ENSLAVED GUITARIST IVAR BJØRNSON FEATURED IN THE HEART IS A DRUM MACHINE DOCUMENTARY

The Heart Is A Drum Machine, the eagerly awaited documentary film that explores the complex and critical relationship between humanity and music, will premiere in Los Angeles on Saturday, April 25th at Nike’s Ricardo Montalbán Theater in the heart of Hollywood. Sponsored by L.A. Weekly and Nike, proceeds will benefit the Charles Mingus Youth Arts Center in Watts, a facility of the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs.

Directed by Christopher Pomerenke and produced by Ryan Page, Joe Mundo, and Hans Fjellestad, The Heart Is A Drum Machine explores music’s role in shaping human history, the profound connection people have had to music throughout human history, how it has shaped our experiences, and its involvement in our daily lives. Tackling the topic is a who’s who of musicians including George Clinton, Tool’s Maynard James Keenan, Red Hot Chili Peppers’ John Frusciante, and Jimmy Eat Worlds’s Jim Adkins. Music historians and writers such as MTV’s Kurt Loder and KCRW’s Nic Harcourt were also interviewed, in addition to Carl Sagan’s widow and collaborator Ann Druyan, who discusses the Voyager Golden Record. The Flaming Lips’ Steven Drozd created an original score for the film and covered Elton John’s “Rocket Man” with vocals by Maynard James Keenan.

ENSLAVED’s Ivar Bjørnson speaks about lucid dreams and music. He details how he became involved with the film here:

“ENSLAVED went over to do three shows during South by South West 2008, in Austin, Texas. On the press schedule was ‘My Heart is a Drum Machine,’ a constellation of words that caught my immediate interest. It turned out to be the shooting for a documentary on the complex relationship between music, humanity and psychology. I went to a villa outside Austin, sat down in a dark room, and started talking about these acutely huge issues: What is the essence of music? What does music mean to me? What can music do? It turned out to be an extraordinary session that seemed to be highly enjoyable for both me and the movie makers. Now, a year after, the movie has premiered in the United States, and hopefully it will make its way across the world. I haven’t seen the whole thing yet, but the theme and the makers’ approach to it is truly interesting. I remember being brought back to the hotel and they told me the next guy to do a shoot was Elijah Wood, and thinking I was in good company. When I saw the final list, including Tool’s Maynard James Keenan, George Clinton, Juliette Lewis and more, I realized the company was a lot more than merely ‘good’!”

Information about the screening day can be viewed here. Tickets are now on sale here. Parking information can be viewed here.

  • MNEMIC OFFER UPDATE; ANNOUNCE NEW ALBUM TITLE

It’s about time we rise from the dormant and break the silence, to give you all an update from the Mnemic camp!

Its been too damn long since the last update, which I must apologize for. First of all, a really late Happy New Year from the lads in Mnemic to all of you reading this. Since we took a break from touring in 2008, apart from playing a few shows with Metallica (Yes, I still mention this cause I’m damn proud of it!), things have been quite productive. We have definitely not been lazy, that’s for sure. As we did recharge our batteries, in this break, we also fell the hunger for creativity and started writing new material. Already by now I can confirm that we have 11 brand new songs written, and we are still a long way from finishing. The plan is of course to write as many songs as possible until we are 110% satisfied with all the material. For now the title of the album is set as: Sons of the System.

Why is this taking so long you may ask? Because we want to be 100% satisfied with this release and not put out an album we just worked on two months in advance prior to the recordings. On the other hand, as the release date has not yet been set, I assure you, this will definitely not be a Chinese Democracy in the making.

On a last note, we have quite a few surprises up our sleeve for this release….and as for touring, there will only be shows coinciding with the release of the new album, which means you’ll have to wait a bit if you want to see us live. It’s all part of a greater plan.

  • DEVILSTONE OPEN AIR, JULY 17-19TH, 2009 – ANYKSCIAI, LITHUANIA

DEVILSTONE OPEN AIR will be launched this summer

Devilish music on the bank of Sventoji [„holy“ in English] river: three days of metallic uproar and head banging feast together with the grand’s of metal scene, headlined by none others but SEPULTURA – that’s what expects the respectable audience on July 17-19th, 2009 in Lithuania.
    Already confirmed:

    SEPULTURA [Brazil, modern thrash metal]
    SINISTER [Netherlands, technical death metal]
    CODE [England/Norway, nostalgic black metal]
    TRAUMA [Poland, death metal]
    AZARATH [Poland, death metal]
    FRAILTY [Latvia, doom/death metal]
    OBTEST [Lithuania, pagan metal]
    NAHASH [Lithuania, occult black metal]
    LUCTUS [Lithuania, thrashing black metal]

More bands will be announced shortly.

The debuting edition of Devilstone Open Air festival will take place this summer in one of the most impressive corners of the Baltics – small but cute, cozy and historical Anyksciai town. Some may know the place as a hometown of Lithuanian blasphemers Dissimulation, but that’s just one of the coincidences, intentional or not. Small town has far richer cultural background with a string of essential Lithuanian writers and poets of the past, native residents of Anyksciai, as well as mythological and touristic places all around, one of which – forests’ surrounded Dainuva valley – will host the epicentre of the fest.

The Devil Stone name is taken from nowhere else but an ancient legend about the devil, who has been carrying the huge Puntukas stone in order to crush the local church, however at the break of dawn he has lost the heavy stone, and mission hasn’t been accomplished…

Festival mission is far more reaching: beside the core of it all – three big metal concerts, it will offer a rich cultural program as well for those striving to hide from the matrix & seeking for the alternative action. Night “Rockthèque”, coordinated by professional DJs will please people into the proto hard rock and metal classics, as well as those, who’d better stay awake all the night and day long!

Camping ground will be based right there behind the river. Swimming parties, football, fresh air – overall place is grateful for natural attractions.

But the main interest is of course the music. Festival will feature over twenty performers of various metal kinds from the entire world, occupying the stage for two night shows and one evening show.

Attention! There are still four vacant places left to fill in for the most perspective, talented bands, thus the organizers keep selecting from the applicants. For those interested to apply, please contact tadas@devilstone.net for further instructions. Usually a link to the band’s myspace page or a link to an mp3 track on the internet is enough.

Tickets to Devilstone Open Air are on sale already, by Tiketa ticket service.
The direct link is: Tiketa or CLICK HERE.

First limited tickets are priced at mere 90 LTL / 26 €!
    Further on tickets will cost 100 LTL/29 €, 120 LTL/35 €, 140 LTL/40 € and 150 LTL/43 €.

Festival organizers openly welcome to try and taste the Lithuanian hospitality, spiced with Devil’s frolic!

  • Lizzy Borden video for “Under Your Skin” to premiere on Headbanger's Ball!

Lizzy Borden's latest visual spectacle, the video for Under Your Skin, from the band's latest, Appointment With Death, will premiere on HeadbangersBlog.com on Thursday, March 26th. Its TV debut will occur on MTV 2's Headbangers Ball on Saturday, March 28th.

Vocalist/mastermind Lizzy Borden comments on the creative process behind the video:

“After our last video Tomorrow Never Comes was nominated for video of the year on MTV's Headbangers Ball we thought we had to step up the visuals big time on our next one.

For the Under Your Skin video we knew we wanted a storyline that mirrored the lyrics to the song. I wrote Skin about the teenage phenomenon that is happening to one out of every two-hundred teenage (mostly girls), that phenomenon is called cutting.

The video for Under Your Skin follows the lives of three very different girls, a rich girl neglected by her parents, a cheerleader with a “nothing's ever good enough” mother and a poor girl with an alcoholic father. The girls all have complete opposite backgrounds but share the same big secret, they all cut themselves. In the video, Death (played by me) stalks the girls just waiting for the one who, on this occasion, will cut a little too deep.

We recruited first time director Ann Potenza for the job; she understood this song completely and wrote a great treatment that we all loved right away. She then recruited director of photography Gigi Malavasi to complete the team. Joey Scott (Drummer of LB) and Ann scouted locations and hired our cast, (the rich girl in the video is my niece, Christina Farr).

We wanted something that would showcase the song and the band, but with this video we got a whole lot more. My goal has always been to entertain, but if we can bring awareness to something like this, all the better. I was at a party recently talking to some girl and telling her that our new video was about cutting, she showed me the scars on her arm, that's how common this is.

Hope you like the video and if you are or know someone that cuts themselves check out the PSA at the end of the video, there is information that may help.” Lizzy Borden

  • STORMENTAL's vocalist comments on production of KHROPHUS debut album

    - STORMENTAL's vocalist Alexei Leão is working as producer of "Presages...", new album of the brazilian veteran death metal trio KHROPHUS, and comments about the experience of working on the band's second album.

"Presages... the new Khrophus' album is already being mixed. I'm involved with the band since the pre-production process. We did everything as it should be, being calm and with no hurry in studio. I personally made sure that every step of the songs' playing and recording were made the best as possible and I can tell that we are getting a killer result. The production will be amazing."

Khrophus vocalist/bassist Alex Pazetto sounds confident and adds: "The whole production work was made by Alexei since the beginning, and even before recording "Presages...". Our intention was to make him comfortable to make an unique work, with Khrophus' identity. In the same way, Alexei made us comfortable in his studio, we worked calmly, following his instructions, so that the final result could be pleasant for both of us. It's being great to work with a producer like him. He understands Khrophus' music and we are sure that this album will be exactly how we want it."

  • ARSIS GUITARIST EXPLAINS TOUR CANCELLATIONS

ARSIS guitarist Jim Malone has sent in this update:

"I owe more than a few people an apology at this time.

Over the past few months ARSIS has had to drop off two tours and the fault lies on my shoulders. Those who know me know that moderation is a concept that I am not familiar with. Ever since my late teens, I have moved from one self-destructive behavior to another and it has finally taken its toll on my body and mind. I seem to take everything I do to an unhealthy extreme. This leads us to the reason for dropping off tours with both The Faceless and Carcass.

Without going into too many details, let’s just say that there is no healthy way lose 100 pounds in 4 months, as I did late last year. To say that I have been dealing with some issues would be an understatement. These issues have not only affected the basic functions of my body, but also my mood and ability to make rational decisions. Fortunately, I have many supportive people in my life and I have been taking strides to get things back under control. I have been making my best effort as of late and I feel stronger everyday. I think I will come out this a wiser person and be able to run my life better than ever.

Look for ARSIS to be back on the road soon with a possible headliner to make up for lost time. My apologies to our booking agent, our record label, our fans, and anyone who has been effected by my poor decisions."

Fans are encouraged to post messages of support at www.myspace.com/ARSIS.
  • MESHUGGAH’S MÅRTEN HAGSTRÖM CORRECTS METAL SUCKS INTERVIEW

MESHUGGAH guitarist Mårten Hagström has offered the following corrections to the interview conducted by MetalSucks.net in New York City on February 19th:

“All right… I never thought I'd do this, but the way things have turned out, I really feel I have to correct some things in the Metal Sucks interview I gave a while ago. These things happen every now and then, but the effects of this makes it imperative for me to set the record straight.

Some things in there are incorrect (for different reasons), and that in itself wouldn't be problem unless it didn't really mess things up for me and others, which it has. And even though I have no qualms speaking my mind, it should at least be correct.

First and most importantly: The part where Markus Staiger and Nuclear Blast is mentioned is incorrect. I never said those things and as you can imagine, it feels really weird to stab your label and Markus in the back without even doing it, so to speak.

Second: The whole "melodic-metal" discussion really took place, but the things I was hating on was Schlager-music (which was in there, but was spelled ‘Slaughter’ and the focus was turned to something entirely different) and talking about how that genre has seemingly crept over into some metal bands music in Europe (in my opinion) and that’s it.

The whole thing came out real weird and definitely skewed. The subject I was aiming for was left out and was replaced by something else which is very unfortunate.

And last, since I'm correcting errors, it says that I was praising a band called ‘Adagio.’ I don't know who they are. I was talking about the French band Gojira. That’s that.

I've talked to Metal Sucks and they have been kind enough to correct these errors. I hope this clears up any misunderstandings there might be.”

AMERICAN SOLDIER features a dozen songs inspired by numerous interviews with veterans conducted by Tate, who was intent on telling their story using their words. After speaking with soldiers who served in various conflicts - from World War II to Iraq - Tate turned their firsthand experiences from the frontlines into an unflinching musical examination of war from the soldier's perspective.
