April 26th, 2009	Regain Records signs NYHC veterans MERAUDER Regain Records is very proud to announce the signing of NYHC veterans MERAUDER! God Is I is set for release on Regain Records June 19th, 2009. http://www.myspace.com/merauder http://www.regainrecords.com http://www.myspace.com/regainrecords SUSPERIA: Singer's Operation A Success Despite Further Complications Oslo, Norway -- Despite further complications SUSPERIA singer Athera (Pal Mathiesen) successfully underwent open heart surgery on Monday March 16th 2009 at Rikshospitalet University Hospital, Oslo, Norway. Originally scheduled to have a triple bypass operation, surgeons discovered further problems which resulted in the vocalist also having a main artery - which previously ran to his lungs -connected directly to his heart. Athera will remain in hospital to recuperate and has been advised by doctors that full recovery will take between three and five months. Still in some agony from his ordeal and in reflective mood, Athera said: "Wow - Well what happened there?! It looks like this time my name wasn't on the guest list at the pearly gates or the other place down below. I got through the surgery and I'm now back in the regional hospital after five days at the specialist heart clinic. Here in my hospital bed I'm contemplating the enormity of what happened - the what ifs and the what might have been. I'm in agony but the strong medication helps. It was a heavy operation having my body parts re-arranged - If a musician ever needed a "TUNE UP," I hope this was it. There are some tough times ahead but I will get there in the end." Commenting further on the messages of support and with an eye on the future he added: "I'm truly amazed at people's humanity at times like this, with all the goodwill messages I've been getting from friends and strangers. Once again the metal community comes through with flying colors, putting their prejudices aside to come together as one. Respect to those who took the time to send messages of support. It's heart-warming to get messages from metalheads who don't have the time of day for my band yet still find the time to send a message.You all helped me get through this, and strengthened my metal heart! .I will be out of the game for a while till my chest bones completely heal and I can sing fully again. I wish my boys a good trip round the UK in May on the tour, and am confident they will bring along a singer that will make the show worth while for you. I wish I could be there, " As previously reported, SUSPERIA have confirmed the postponement of Norwegian dates, which were set for April 09. Their UK tour in May with Breed 77 will go ahead at the insistence of Athera himself, having urged the band not to let their UK fans down and to look at finding a replacement vocalist. The release of SUSPERIA's next studio album is set for early summer as planned, through Candlelight Records. "Omnos," the new video from Swiss folk metal pioneers ELUVEITIE, can now be viewed on MySpace and YouTube. The song comes off the band's upcoming acoustic/folk album, Evocation I: The Arcane Dominion, which is scheduled for release on April 11th (Europe) and May 19th (North America) via Nuclear Blast Records. The CD will contain 15 folk songs, most of them written in ancient gaulish language. April 15th, 2009	MNEMIC OFFER UPDATE; ANNOUNCE NEW ALBUM TITLE It’s about time we rise from the dormant and break the silence, to give you all an update from the Mnemic camp! Its been too damn long since the last update, which I must apologize for. First of all, a really late Happy New Year from the lads in Mnemic to all of you reading this. Since we took a break from touring in 2008, apart from playing a few shows with Metallica (Yes, I still mention this cause I’m damn proud of it!), things have been quite productive. We have definitely not been lazy, that’s for sure. As we did recharge our batteries, in this break, we also fell the hunger for creativity and started writing new material. Already by now I can confirm that we have 11 brand new songs written, and we are still a long way from finishing. The plan is of course to write as many songs as possible until we are 110% satisfied with all the material. For now the title of the album is set as: Sons of the System. Why is this taking so long you may ask? Because we want to be 100% satisfied with this release and not put out an album we just worked on two months in advance prior to the recordings. On the other hand, as the release date has not yet been set, I assure you, this will definitely not be a Chinese Democracy in the making. On a last note, we have quite a few surprises up our sleeve for this release….and as for touring, there will only be shows coinciding with the release of the new album, which means you’ll have to wait a bit if you want to see us live. I wrote Skin about the teenage phenomenon that is happening to one out of every two-hundred teenage (mostly girls), that phenomenon is called cutting. The video for Under Your Skin follows the lives of three very different girls, a rich girl neglected by her parents, a cheerleader with a “nothing's ever good enough” mother and a poor girl with an alcoholic father. "Presages... the new Khrophus' album is already being mixed. I'm involved with the band since the pre-production process. We did everything as it should be, being calm and with no hurry in studio. I personally made sure that every step of the songs' playing and recording were made the best as possible and I can tell that we are getting a killer result. The production will be amazing." April 14th, 2009	ARSIS GUITARIST EXPLAINS TOUR CANCELLATIONS ARSIS guitarist Jim Malone has sent in this update: "I owe more than a few people an apology at this time. Over the past few months ARSIS has had to drop off two tours and the fault lies on my shoulders. Those who know me know that moderation is a concept that I am not familiar with. Ever since my late teens, I have moved from one self-destructive behavior to another and it has finally taken its toll on my body and mind. I seem to take everything I do to an unhealthy extreme. This leads us to the reason for dropping off tours with both The Faceless and Carcass. Without going into too many details, let’s just say that there is no healthy way lose 100 pounds in 4 months, as I did late last year. To say that I have been dealing with some issues would be an understatement. These issues have not only affected the basic functions of my body, but also my mood and ability to make rational decisions. Fortunately, I have many supportive people in my life and I have been taking strides to get things back under control. I have been making my best effort as of late and I feel stronger everyday. I think I will come out this a wiser person and be able to run my life better than ever. Look for ARSIS to be back on the road soon with a possible headliner to make up for lost time. MESHUGGAH’S MÅRTEN HAGSTRÖM CORRECTS METAL SUCKS INTERVIEW MESHUGGAH guitarist Mårten Hagström has offered the following corrections to the interview conducted by MetalSucks.net in New York City on February 19th: “All right… I never thought I'd do this, but the way things have turned out, I really feel I have to correct some things in the Metal Sucks interview I gave a while ago. These things happen every now and then, but the effects of this makes it imperative for me to set the record straight. Some things in there are incorrect (for different reasons), and that in itself wouldn't be problem unless it didn't really mess things up for me and others, which it has. And even though I have no qualms speaking my mind, it should at least be correct. First and most importantly: The part where Markus Staiger and Nuclear Blast is mentioned is incorrect. I never said those things and as you can imagine, it feels really weird to stab your label and Markus in the back without even doing it, so to speak. Second: The whole "melodic-metal" discussion really took place, but the things I was hating on was Schlager-music (which was in there, but was spelled ‘Slaughter’ and the focus was turned to something entirely different) and talking about how that genre has seemingly crept over into some metal bands music in Europe (in my opinion) and that’s it. The whole thing came out real weird and definitely skewed. The subject I was aiming for was left out and was replaced by something else which is very unfortunate. And last, since I'm correcting errors, it says that I was praising a band called ‘Adagio.’ I don't know who they are. I was talking about the French band Gojira. That’s that. I've talked to Metal Sucks and they have been kind enough to correct these errors. The military community site, 10 million members strong, will also feature a podcast interview with lead singer Geoff Tate as well as an op-ed column that he wrote exclusively for the site. The video for "If I Were King" was directed by J. Andrew Colletti and Jonathan Williams and addresses the same themes of loss and healing that are the focus of the track. The song was written based on an interview Tate conducted with Sean Lenahan, a veteran of U.S. conflicts in Somalia and Kosovo. "Military.com is the perfect place to premiere the 'If I Were King' video and we are proud to be involved with the site," says Tate. "I hope their members can find a connection to the song and video.
