  • AXEMASTER happenings...........

While the band finished the music for the new CD and turned the recording over to new singer Dan Kaisk to lay down the vocals for what will be BY FAR the best Axemaster ever, there has been some news.............

The band's release "5 Demons (Imperative is their Demise)" from 1991 has been added to Smog Veil Records' I-Tunes roster for downloading (joining "Blessing in the Skies"). "5 Demons" was the last release the band did while still active and the last time they released all new music. It's quite possibly the best of their old material. Check it out at http://www.smogveil.com/ecom/.

Sol Music Management (http://www.solmusicmanagement.com/) hooked the band up with the Independent Artist Company and KAIC to create a page which includes two of the band's most popular old songs to specifically be downloaded by radio stations for airplay. The songs have gotten great response from several shows/stations. You can see the page at http://iacmusic.com/artist.aspx?id=93089.

  • KYLESA, WITHERED to embark on tour with The Ocean, Lair of The Minotaur

Savannah’s KYLESA will be embarking on a co-headlining tour in May with Germany’s The Ocean in May and early June. Also on the tour will be Lair of The Minotaur and KYLESA’s Prosthetic Records labelmates WITHERED. KYLESA continues to support 2006’s ‘Time Will Fuse Its Worth,’ which recently sent the band to Europe alongside fellow Georgians Baroness. WITHERED, meanwhile, will be supporting the band’s forthcoming release, ‘Folie Circulaire,’ which is currently slated for release in June. The effort is currently being recorded by Phillip Cope (Baroness, Kylesa, Black Tusk).

“Everything is going very well,” WITHERED guitarist Mike Thompson previously said from the studio. “Phillip has a great ear and a great vision for this album. I think it will likely exceed our expectations. Phillip has really gotten a grasp of how we want the record to sound and done a great job of getting in our heads. We were able to transform The Jam Room into our own little world. We’ve been sleeping on the floor and have completely lost track of time. There are no windows or clocks. The focus has been incredible.”

“We chose to work with Phillip because we’ve known him for a long time and his crusty background with Damad and Kylesa is something we really wanted to incorporate into the record,” Thompson elaborates. “A full tilt death or black metal production would have been the wrong direction. Phillip is also a big fan of black and death metal which gives him a unique perspective that we can trust.” An image of the band and Cope can be viewed here (http://prostheticrecords.com/withered_phillip.jpg).

‘Folie Circulaire’ is the follow-up to 2005’s critically-acclaimed ‘Memento Mori,’ and will be the band’s Prosthetic Records debut. An unnamed demo song from ‘Folie Circulaire,’ along with previous material, is available on WITHERED’s official MySpace page (http://www.myspace.com/withered).

His appearance is heralded by demons in the form of men blaring discordant trumpets and rattling cymbals. In order to receive Paimon's knowledge, a conjurer must first allow him to ask any question he wishes.

A., I. and D. are Castevet. Their debut seven-inch EP "Stones/Salts" reshapes the grim, dissonant riffing and anguished rasp of black metal into a new form that asks questions of the listener before revealing the secrets hidden within its epic structures. • IHSAHN's angL set for release

Candlelight Records today confirms May 27 as the American release date for angL, the second solo album from former Emperor vocalist/guitarist Ihsahn. The album features nine new songs all written and performed by the highly respected musician. The album features guest performances by drummer Asgeir Mickelson, bassist Lars Koppang Norberg (both of the band Spiral Architect) and Mikael Akerfeldt (Opeth).

Recorded and mixed by Ihsahn at Symphonique Studios in Notodden, Norway (the studio owned by Ihsahn and partner Heidi Tveitan), additional work was completed by Jens Bogren (Opeth, Katatonia, Amon Amarth) at Fascination Street Studios and Borge Finnstad (Mayhem, Borknagar) at Toproom Studios. Commenting about the record’s musical collaborations, “Asgeir (Mickelson) did such a great job on my last album (The Adversary, Candlelight 2006), that while in preproduction for angL I programmed a much more generic drum track to leave more creative license for him. It was on Asgeir’s recommendation that Lars (Koppang Norberg) contribute to the album. They both recorded at Asgeir’s studio (Multimono Studios) and it came together nicely.”

Working with Mikael (Akerfeldt), “Mikael and I go back as friends since the early nineties. We met up when Emperor headlined Wacken in 2006 and had a great time watching bands together. We talked then about doing something together at some point and in spite of busy schedules on both sides this luckily came to happen. Rough mixes of “Unhealer” with lyrics were sent to Mikael with the idea for both clean and growl vocals. He worked on it during his off-time recording the new Opeth album. I could not be any happier with the results.”

Writing for angL began early in 2007 and picked up momentum after the Emperor US performances early last summer. “I knew to a greater extent where I wanted to go with this album, though I feel all albums are a kind of struggle to overcome. Regardless of how many you make, it never gets any easier.” An aggressive schedule to complete the album, in addition to recording projects for Hardingrock (in which Ihsahn also contributes) and Starofash (released February 26), Ihsahn completed album tracking in early December. With mixing and mastering completed early this year, the musician is already starting promotion with for the album; efforts that will take up much of his time over the coming months leading up to album release.

Track listing for angL (not in running order) is: Alchemist, Elevator, Malediction, Misanthrope, Monolith, Morningstar, Scarab, Threnody and Unhealer.

Spellemann (Norwegian Grammy) Award Nominee Ihsahn (born Vegard Tveitan) began playing music at a very early age. As a teenager, his friendship with Tomas Haugen (a.k.a. Samoth) would trigger the start of his music career – one that to date includes over fifty individual recordings, five high-profile Emperor European tours (the band reaching US shores on only 3 occasions) and the respect of fans and peers worldwide.

  • ABSU parts ways with guitarist (again); replacement and new recording announced

Texas-based mythological occult metal outfit ABSU has announced the addition of guitarist/keyboardist Zawicizuz (ex-Rape, Pillage & Burn/Infernal Oak) to the group’s ranks. He replaces Vastator who recently quit the band due to musical and personal differences. Drummer/vocalist Proscriptor says of the replacement, "We are very proud to welcome Zawicizuz as the newest musician of ABSU! He is one of the best-kept secrets in the extreme Texas music environment and we are delighted to convey our next chapter of mythological occult metal with him."

ABSU will enter Nomad Recording Studio in April 2008 to begin recording the self-titled CD for a tentative autumn release on Candlelight Records. The album will be engineered/produced by none other than Sterling Winfield (King Diamond, Mercyful Fate, Solitude Aeternus, Usurper, Blood of the Sun, Etc.) and mastered by Proscriptor at his studio Tarot Productions.

"Absu" projected track listing: (in no particular order)

    03. Between the Absu of Eridu & Erech

    b.) Voor
    c.) Sceptre Command
d.) Twix Yesterday, the Day & the Morrow
    e.) Our Earth of Black

Proscriptor adds: "Lyrically, I am concentrating more on Sumerian-based occult themes of magick and mythology versus the Celtic aspect of my previous writings, which was heavily expressed on the last few ABSU studio albums. Musically speaking, the material will be quite similar to 'Tara', but with more of a '70s progressive/psychedelic texture within it. You will not be disappointed — trust me. I will be utilizing the first logo created by Equitant and Belgian artist Kris Verwimp will handle the cover illustration once again. In other news, I am also pleased to announce the following guest musicians that will appear on the album:

    Ashmedi (Melechesh)
    Jex Thoth (Jex Thoth/ex-Totem)

The cover artwork for "Prevail", at this location (http://www.kataklysmrocks.com/images/prevail.jpg). The band decided to "immortalize" the character that was featured on the cover of their last CD, "In the Arms of Devastation", and have him re-appear as the main character — dubbed "The Heartbeast" — on "Prevail".

"Prevail" was mixed at AudioHammer Studios in Orlando, Florida with producer Jason Suecof and is scheduled for release via Nuclear Blast Records on May 23 (Europe) and May 27 (North America). • FIREWIND - Details for “The Premonition” special edition with bonus DVD revealed; Gus G. @ Frankfurt music fair & North American tourdates…

As the European release date of Greek melodic metal act FIREWIND’s highly anticipated new effort “The Premonition” is drawing closer, the content of the limited edition has been revealed: The special version of the album comes with an O-Card packaging and a bonus DVD dubbed “Live Premonition” which includes four brand-new (!) songs from the album “The Premonition” recorded live in Thessaloniki, Greece, on January 12th, 2008 as well as interviews with all of the band members. Here is the exact tracklisting:

    Live Premonition bonus DVD:

    1. Into The Fire (6:34)
    2. Head Up High (3:43)
    3. Mercenary Man (3:56)
    4. My Loneliness (4:01)
+ Individual interviews with all members of FIREWIND

FIREWIND’s mastermind Gus G. comments on the bonus DVD as follows:

“We worked very hard to be able to present you this bonus DVD, as we really wanted to put together a very special package for our fans this time around. The whole idea started back in late 2007 when we decided to play a show in our hometown Thessaloniki and present the whole new album live - from start to finish before it was even released. Looking back now, I realize that this was a big project to accomplish.

But the night of January 12th made up for the whole work and stress. Over 1.200 crazy fans filled the Principal Theater and the vibe was just magical! We caught that on film and now we present you this bonus DVD with 4 songs from that show, fully edited and mixed PLUS in-depth interviews with each band member! Dig in and feel the burn of FIREWIND!”

In related news, Gus G. and FIREWIND drummer Mark Cross are confirmed to appear at the renowned music fair in Frankfurt (Germany) on March 14th – 15th, 2008 and will use this opportunity to do exclusive signing sessions as well. See below for a detailed schedule:

“I'm so happy that FIREWIND gets to return to North America as a part of this package! It’s very versatile, with really good bands on the bill. Personally speaking, I'm happy for the fact that I'll get to tour with Arch Enemy again. It was a blast playing with them in 2005 and Michael Amott and Co. are such great musicians and people. I have a lot of respect for them. We will give the fans a really intense setlist as we will present material from our new album, “The Premonition”, for the first time.”

  • FEAR MY THOUGHTS currently recording new album!

Right now, German modern metal outfit FEAR MY THOUGHTS is extremely busy finishing the recordings for their highly anticipated follow-up to last year’s much lauded “Vulcanus” album. Here’s the band’s latest update straight from the studio:

“We are currently working our asses off on the new record! Drums are being recorded with the help of Daniel Bergstrand (Meshuggah, In Flames, Behemoth, Soilwork) and the guys of Arsen-studios who supplied us with some high-end gear. At the moment, we’re about to finish the vocal recordings, and the result so far sounds simply amazing. Martin is doing a great job and his vocals come across more variable than ever before. While Martin is basically working on his own in Karlsruhe, the others were busy recording guitars and bass in Freiburg, Grenzach-Wyhlen and Weil am Rhein...actually we spent most time travelling from one city to the other...arghhhh! It is pretty hard to describe how the new songs sound. While listening to the rough mixes, I’m trying to find possible comparisons...sometimes it feels like Slayer, sometimes like Pink Floyd. You can definitely hear a strong Progressive Rock vibe in the vein of Porcupine Tree or Tool, on the other side it’s straight-forward Rock and Metal more than ever before! The new record is definitely shaping up well, but probably in a way you would not have expected!”

The new FEAR MY THOUGHTS album is expected to surface in July 2008 and the band is already confirmed to perform live at the renowned Metal Camp Festival in Tolmin (Slovenia) on July 6, 2008. Stay tuned for further updates on the recording process!

  • WARREL DANE announces solo album details; new song & cover artwork posted online!

After much anticipation, the stunning, inaugural solo effort, “Praises To The War Machine”, from Nevermore vocalist WARREL DANE will finally be released in Europe in April 2008. With this effort one of metal’s most defining and revolutionary vocalists further hones his craft to perfection.

Dane, who first shattered the boundaries of conventionality with the legendary Sanctuary and Nevermore, proves that he is one of metal’s most diverse frontmen with this solo effort as he unleashes a barrage of introspective and personal lyrics that are heartfelt and extremely powerful. All of this emotion backed with his soaring angelic and dynamic vocals provides all of the necessary elements for a savagely captivating, melodic assault that quickly hooks you in.

Before beginning this new venture Dane went out and surrounded himself with some of the best musicians that he could find. This search ultimately resulted in landing the renowned Peter Wichers (ex-Soilwork) on guitars and bass, Dirk Verbeuren (Soilwork) on drums and Matt Wicklund (ex-Himsa) on guitars. The effort was also recorded and mixed by Wichers (co-producer Soilwork). As guest musicians Jeff Loomis (Nevermore) and James Murphy (Obituary, Testament, etc.) are featured on the album.

You can now check out the album’s cover artwork by renowned artist Travis Smith (Death, Katatonia, Opeth) by clicking HERE!

The album’s tracklist reads as follows:
    1. When We Pray 3:38
    2. Messenger 3:59 (feat. Jeff Loomis)
    3. Obey 3:59
    4. Lucretia My Reflection 4:38 (The Sisters Of Mercy-Cover)
    5. Let You Down 3:54
    6. August 3:48
    7. Your Chosen Misery 4:10
    8. The Day The Rats Went To War 3:37 (feat. James Murphy)
    9. Brother 3:24
    10. Patterns 4:01 (Paul Simon-Cover)
    11. This Old Man 3:43
    12. Equilibrium 3:54
    Total running time: 45:53

As a first sonic appetizer, the song “Messenger” has just been posted at:

Dane further comments as to how this solo effort came about:

“Right around the time Nevermore was recording This Godless Endeavour I started talking to Peter Wichers about maybe doing something together. I think we both wanted to do something different and that’s ultimately what got the ball rolling. I had always wanted to work with a songwriter that had a more song based approach rather than focusing on technical skills and Peter was exactly that. We collaborated on almost everything and I wrote all the lyrics and melodies. Peter had great ideas at times for harmonies, that's what a good producer does, and I think he's really come into his own as a producer with this record.

The purpose of doing this project was to step out of the confines of Nevermore and focus on coming up with memorable songs instead of constructing songs that showcased everyone’s skills. The material is more straightforward than Nevermore, but I don't know what to call it. I think my influences have really played a part of the sound. I love old school goth and I love thrash metal, and every other kind of metal, there's a little bit of all of that in the record.”
“Praises To The War Machine” is an absolute must for all Nevermore fans and will soon be hailed as Dane’s most ambitious offering yet. Prepare yourself for the sheer beauty and elegance that awaits. The album will be available on the following release dates:

    SPAIN / PORTUGAL: April 29, 2008.
    SWEDEN / FINLAND / HUNGARY: April 30, 2008.
    USA/CANADA: May 13, 2008.

  • CRYPTOPSY Announces new album title; touring Europe with Unmerciful and Decrepit Birth in May / June!

Canadian masters of brutality CRYPTOPSY are currently putting the finishing touches on their sixth full-length studio album, “The Unspoken King”. The group recently announced the addition of new frontman Matt McGachy (3 Mile Scream) and keyboards/samplist Maggie Durand to their line-up. Vocalist Matt comments the work on the new album as follows:

“The studio process has been very fulfilling. We have just recently finished all of the vocal tracks and the samples are in the process of being completed. The songs are just as brutal as on the previous albums while being far more concise. We have even brought in ex-Ion Dissonance vocalist Gabriel McCaughry to add some vocals to a track called “Anoint the Dead”. Some of the other tracks on the album are called “Worship Your Demons”, “The Headsmen” and “Bemoan the Martyr”.”

Regretfully, CRYPTOPSY have been forced to cancel their recently announced tour of South America in March, after drummer Flo Mounier broke his knee cap. Mounier had completed the drum tracking process for the group’s new album prior to the incident, so it did not affect the recording. The tour of South America is expected to be re-scheduled later in 2008.

European CRYPTOPSY fans will be delighted to hear that the band will be touring Europe right on time of the release of their highly anticipated new effort in May-June 2008, supported by Decrepit Birth and Unmerciful. So, prepare to be crushed!

The songs are a mix of the thrashing aggression & mega-riffage of The Ultimate Destroyer and the unrelenting beatings & Sabbath chugs of Carnage, mixed with a new emotionless ferocity reserved for an executioner.

It’s been three years since their last tour and last album, but with their highly-anticipated new masterpiece, obZen, slated for release in the U.S. and Canada on March 11th, a new Swedish My Space pre-listening promotion record for a 1⁄4 of a million album streams, and Blender Magazine’s “Best Heavy Metal Drummer” & Guitar World’s #35 ranked “Greatest Metal Guitarists” in tow, Sweden’s MESHUGGAH are ready to bring their trademarked arrhythmia back to North America on Ministry’s “C-U-LaTour” Farewell Tour.

A truly lateral-thinking force genuinely dedicated to pushing the boundaries of extreme music, MESHUGGAH have spent the last twenty years developing and exploring their metric art. It’s never shocking to see some of the biggest names in metal standing in the wings at MESHUGGAH shows shaking their heads at the band’s (di)versions of standard 4/4 time. States Deftones guitarist Stephen Carpenter, “Through all these years, I’ve been waiting to hear someone that does something more pummeling, and it’s just not coming. Their stuff changed my life.” Not surprisingly, the band’s discography underwent scholarly analysis at the 34th Annual Meeting of The Music Theory Society of New York State in 2006, and the article, “Re-casting Metal: Rhythm & Meter in the Music of MESHUGGAH” was published in Music Theory Spectrum, the journal of The Society for Music Theory in the latter half of 2007.

With obZen primed to become another testament of MESHUGGAH’s importance to the fields of recording and performing arts, it’s safe to say that MESHUGGAH is to music what Sir Isaac Newton is to calculus.

Clear your schedule and come to one of the show dates below. An epiphany in music awaits you.

Music, album artwork, band logo, high resolution band photos, photo passes, guest list accommodations, and interviews are all available on request.

  • Dutch Metal Cult band MARTYR signs with Rusty Cage Records.

We are very pleased to announce the addition of this eighties cult band to our roster. After releasing the Dutch Metal Cult Series, containing re-issues of 5 rare albums, we received many requests about Martyr's first album 'For the universe'. We will release a special version of this classic metal album: the guys have written new songs and will be recording them very soon!

Expect this great album to be released with the new recorded songs this summer.

The Martyr section of the RCR site will be ready within a couple of weeks. Check out the official Martyr website in the meantime!
  • Dutch Progressive metallers FEED FORWARD signs with Rusty Cage Records.

For some time we were looking for a progressive metal band. Finally we found one with an added bonus: Female vocalist Biejanka! The band has been around for 5 years now, and found its own unique style.

Expect the release of their album "Barefoot and Naked" spring 2008. The Feed Forward section of the RCR site will be ready within a couple of weeks.

Check out the official Feed Forward website in the meantime!
  • Ilkka Salminen is no longer in TENHI

Ilkka Salminen has now officially left the band. We decided to announce this as there has been some speculation around the matter.
This isn't a dramatic change in the band at all but rather awaited decision. His contribution has decreased along the years and his personal interests lie elsewhere, while for us the band has become even more crucial part of our lives.
Despite this he will still be around as a friend for sure...
So thanks for the past years - rock on!

    Here by Ilkka's own words:

    Dear fans,
I have now officially left TENHI.

This is my own decision and I want you to know that it happens in the best spirit between all of us. It might not be a surprise for you, as my contribution in TENHI has decreased ever since we released Maaäet. For the time being I haven't got the possibility to devote myself to TENHI anymore with the same intensity as Tyko and Ilmari.

I'm extremely proud and happy for everything we achieved in TENHI and it all means an awful lot to me. I feel privileged that for the past decade I was given the possibility to create music with such talents as Tyko and Ilmari. I think TENHI is doing very well in their care, and I encourage them to carry on the TENHI saga for a long time.

On my behalf I'd like to thank all of you TENHI fans for the fantastic support you've given throughout the years. I wish you all the best, keep TENHI flame burning!

    Ilkka Salminen
  • Sammath demo track

Sammath demo track "Triumph in hatred" on the Sammath myspace site, track will play directly, turn up the volume to piss everyone off!

    From the upcoming CD "Blood".

To be released by Folter Records later this year. http://www.folter666.de

The search is over, and a new drummer has now joined the band. The level of competition and skills among the few drummers who remained at the top of the crop was extremely high, but this guy logically outplayed everyone in the end.

Indeed, we are very happy to announce that after having worked with us as a session musician for about six months now, Raphaël has decided to join THE OLD DEAD TREE as a full time member! For those who aren\'t familiar with him yet, Raphaël is the drummer of the french symphonic metal band PENUMBRA. As a professional musician, he is also involved in others projects and various music styles. If you want to find out more about Raphaël, you can check his myspace : www.myspace.com/raphaelantheaume.

To the drummers we met : Again, we want to thank you all for offering your services and wish you all the best for the future!
  • Joey Vera news

    Quick note:

I’ll be doing some local gigs with singer Brad Alden which also takes us to Tokyo, Japan for a gig on April 23rd. And for some Armored Saint news: Saint will be playing at this years Rocklahoma Festival in Pryor, Oklahoma which is just outside Tulsa.

Saint will be playing on Friday July 11, also on the bill is Kingdome Come, Extreme, Night Ranger and Triumph (all original members). Tickets are on sale now for this 4 day event. As of now, this is the only scheduled show for Saint for the rest of the year.

The Bass Invaders CD is out now. This is a project recorded by Marcus Grosskopf, bassist for Helloween. He made a record with Peavy (Rage) of songs played entirely without any guitars! The CD features bass solos from players such as Billy Sheehan, Rudy Sarzo and yours truly (that would be me) on track 8 “Far Too Late”. Check it out!

I want to also say Thanks! For the great response and emails I’m getting for my new solo CD A Chinese Firedrill. I really appreciate it and am glad you are all enjoying it. I hope to start writing some new material for a follow up very soon.

    Take Care,

Calling in from a frozen tundra somewhere in Iowa, ARSIS frontman/guitarist Jim Malone provides this update:

“Everyone’s fine. Hard to believe this happened during the day, but the road is solid ice. The trailer flipped, broke loose of the hitch, and is now stuck in a snow bank. Better the trailer and not us. We’re waiting to get it towed, since it’s unusable. It’s lodged in ice and we can’t get to our gear, but we’re sure it’s all smashed. We need to assess the situation and see how much of our gear still works before we can say anything about finishing out the rest of the tour. We can’t afford to buy a new trailer at this point. Again, we apologize to our fans. We’ll have an update soon.”

    Adds bassist Noah Martin:

“We’re going to try to find a room up the highway in the next small town. Hopefully we won’t have to fight off inbred zombie cannibals… like we need that right now. We are all suuuper pissed that this has happened just as we were getting back on this tour. This sucks a lot of dinosaur dick – and that’s a LOT of meat!”

Stream the title track off the new ARSIS album, We Are The Nightmare, at: www.myspace.com/ARSIS

We Are The Nightmare will be available in North America on April 15th, 2008.

HOLLYWOOD – After a decade, the much anticipated Steve Stevens solo release is invading the world - MEMORY CRASH releases March 4th, 2008 on Magna Carta Records.

Steven’s spent the last few years out on tour in support of Idols album “The Devils Playground.” Once off tour, Stevens spent time orchestrating his new album and signed to Magna Carta Records. He spent the last year meticulously laying down the tracks to his newest guitar masterpiece.

Choosing a very retro-contemporary style, Stevens decided he would make this a very real and well conceived album, something that has not been heard in years. Reasserting the quality that made him a star, Stevens just calls it good old-fashioned rock 'n' roll. It’s just Steve Stevens, his guitar, and his beloved effects – all the ingredients that make's this album a work of genius.

MEMORY CRASH boasts such tracks as “Water on Ares”, “Hellcats Take the Highway”, “Small Arms Fire”, an interpretation of Robin Trower’s’ “Day of the Eagle” (featuring Dug Pinnick of King’s X), and the rousing/psychedelic “Cherry Vanilla.” “I have a lot of weird little segues going on with this record,” Stevens explains. “I’ve always loved that about the prog records, like Dark Side of the Moon. You enter this little theater of the mind. It’s a true headphone experience.”

Guitar World magazine once said that Steve Stevens “orchestrates the growls and snarls that come of his guitar much the same way that Bernstein conducts the Philharmonic.” It’s this variety of aural characteristics that also explains Stevens’ musical career path. Not only is he the longtime musical partner and friend of British punk-rock icon, Billy Idol—together delivering the million-selling albums BILLY IDOL, REBEL YELL, WHIPLASH SMILE, VITAL IDOL, GREATEST HITS as well as a new CD, DEVIL’S PLAYGROUND—but he’s a Grammy Award winner (Best Rock Instrumental for his work on the TOP GUN Soundtrack), a sought-after songwriter (co-wrote “Bolero” for the ONCE UPON A TIME IN MEXICO Soundtrack), a noted session guitarist (Michael Jackson, the late Robert Palmer, The Cars Ric Ocasek and most recently, Pink), and a solo artist with two vastly divergent albums, rock ‘n rolling ATOMIC PLAYBOYS and the Latin-influenced FLAMENCO A GO GO. Not bad for a shy kid from the rough and tumble section of the Ramones’ Rockaway, Queens on the edge of New York City.

MEMORY CRASH was recorded and engineered by Steve Stevens and Beazle T. Monk at the Purple Room. Brian Tichy (Billy Idol/drummer) plays all percussion and drums, Stevens’ plays guitar and all other instruments.

  • SOL INVICTUS signs contract with Auerbach Tontraeger

The beginning of spring brings good news for all fans of classic Folk noir: Mastermind Tony Wakeford's legendary British band SOL INVICTUS have signed a contract with Auerbach on the group's back catalogue and future releases. "Prophecy Productions/Auerbach is a rarity. A label that has, and deserves, its good reputation. I am very happy that Sol Invictus have found a home here," Wakeford explains his decision to go with the German label, adding, "Now can I have my cat returned to me as promised."

Fans will be familiar with the trademark black humour of the man who after a wild life - as a member of the cult Punk band Crisis and one of the founders of the ever mysterious Death In June, among other things - founded his own project SOL INVICTUS back in 1987. Under the banner of this ancient Roman solar deity, the last 20 years have seen more than a dozen albums charting a musical progression from raw, post-punk Dark Folk to ever more refined arrangements with influences from Early Music, Classical, Ambient, and Jazz. With changing musical collaborators, Wakeford presents in his unmistakable voice pessimistic visions that are equally inspired by ancient myths, modern writers, and deeply personal reflections on (the sorrows of) love and the vanity of things.

Many SOL INVICTUS albums today stand as landmarks of their genre, Tony Wakeford is considered one of the founding fathers of Apocalyptic Folk alongside Douglas P. of Death In June and David Tibet of Current 93. After some of their records have been deleted for years, Auerbach are pleased to present all studio albums by SOL INVICTUS in beautifully done re-editions to fans old and new. His future works will also attest to the fact that Mr. Wakeford hasn't lost his punch and that the original is always better than any copy.
  • Grind Minded announce new bass player

Dutch old school death/grind band Grindminded is pleased to announce the addition of bassist Gea Mulder to their lineup. Gea has been in bands such as Mirdyn and Pharmacore. "We are excited to have Gea as part of the Grindminded family." said guitarist Jerry Duinkerken. "She's turning out to be an awesome bass player, she's learned much of our material already, and she will only make the band stronger," Duinkerken said. The change came in response to news that former bassist Jasper Bolderjik was leaving the band earlier this year. Grindminded will be beginning to play out live with Mulder later this month, in support of their brand new full length album entitled "Domestic Violence."
