While the band finished the music for the new CD and turned the recording over to new singer Dan Kaisk to lay down the vocals for what will be BY FAR the best Axemaster ever, there has been some news............. The band's release "5 Demons (Imperative is their Demise)" from 1991 has been added to Smog Veil Records' I-Tunes roster for downloading (joining "Blessing in the Skies"). "5 Demons" was the last release the band did while still active and the last time they released all new music. It's quite possibly the best of their old material. Sol Music Management (http://www.solmusicmanagement.com/) hooked the band up with the Independent Artist Company and KAIC to create a page which includes two of the band's most popular old songs to specifically be downloaded by radio stations for airplay. Also on the tour will be Lair of The Minotaur and KYLESA’s Prosthetic Records labelmates WITHERED. KYLESA continues to support 2006’s ‘Time Will Fuse Its Worth,’ which recently sent the band to Europe alongside fellow Georgians Baroness. WITHERED, meanwhile, will be supporting the band’s forthcoming release, ‘Folie Circulaire,’ which is currently slated for release in June. The effort is currently being recorded by Phillip Cope (Baroness, Kylesa, Black Tusk). “Everything is going very well,” WITHERED guitarist Mike Thompson previously said from the studio. “Phillip has a great ear and a great vision for this album. I think it will likely exceed our expectations. Phillip has really gotten a grasp of how we want the record to sound and done a great job of getting in our heads. We were able to transform The Jam Room into our own little world. We’ve been sleeping on the floor and have completely lost track of time. There are no windows or clocks. The focus has been incredible.” “We chose to work with Phillip because we’ve known him for a long time and his crusty background with Damad and Kylesa is something we really wanted to incorporate into the record,” Thompson elaborates. “A full tilt death or black metal production would have been the wrong direction. Theatres des Vampires IHSAHN's angL set for release Candlelight Records today confirms May 27 as the American release date for angL, the second solo album from former Emperor vocalist/guitarist Ihsahn. The album features nine new songs all written and performed by the highly respected musician. The album features guest performances by drummer Asgeir Mickelson, bassist Lars Koppang Norberg (both of the band Spiral Architect) and Mikael Akerfeldt (Opeth). Recorded and mixed by Ihsahn at Symphonique Studios in Notodden, Norway (the studio owned by Ihsahn and partner Heidi Tveitan), additional work was completed by Jens Bogren (Opeth, Katatonia, Amon Amarth) at Fascination Street Studios and Borge Finnstad (Mayhem, Borknagar) at Toproom Studios. Commenting about the record’s musical collaborations, “Asgeir (Mickelson) did such a great job on my last album (The Adversary, Candlelight 2006), that while in preproduction for angL I programmed a much more generic drum track to leave more creative license for him. It was on Asgeir’s recommendation that Lars (Koppang Norberg) contribute to the album. They both recorded at Asgeir’s studio (Multimono Studios) and it came together nicely.” Working with Mikael (Akerfeldt), “Mikael and I go back as friends since the early nineties. We met up when Emperor headlined Wacken in 2006 and had a great time watching bands together. We talked then about doing something together at some point and in spite of busy schedules on both sides this luckily came to happen. Rough mixes of “Unhealer” with lyrics were sent to Mikael with the idea for both clean and growl vocals. He worked on it during his off-time recording the new Opeth album. I could not be any happier with the results.” Writing for angL began early in 2007 and picked up momentum after the Emperor US performances early last summer. “I knew to a greater extent where I wanted to go with this album, though I feel all albums are a kind of struggle to overcome. Regardless of how many you make, it never gets any easier.” An aggressive schedule to complete the album, in addition to recording projects for Hardingrock (in which Ihsahn also contributes) and Starofash (released February 26), Ihsahn completed album tracking in early December. With mixing and mastering completed early this year, the musician is already starting promotion with for the album; efforts that will take up much of his time over the coming months leading up to album release. We collaborated on almost everything and I wrote all the lyrics and melodies. Canadian masters of brutality CRYPTOPSY are currently putting the finishing touches on their sixth full-length studio album, “The Unspoken King”. The group recently announced the addition of new frontman Matt McGachy (3 Mile Scream) and keyboards/samplist Maggie Durand to their line-up. Vocalist Matt comments the work on the new album as follows: “The studio process has been very fulfilling. We have just recently finished all of the vocal tracks and the samples are in the process of being completed. The songs are just as brutal as on the previous albums while being far more concise. We have even brought in ex-Ion Dissonance vocalist Gabriel McCaughry to add some vocals to a track called “Anoint the Dead”. Some of the other tracks on the album are called “Worship Your Demons”, “The Headsmen” and “Bemoan the Martyr”.” Regretfully, CRYPTOPSY have been forced to cancel their recently announced tour of South America in March, after drummer Flo Mounier broke his knee cap. Mounier had completed the drum tracking process for the group’s new album prior to the incident, so it did not affect the recording. We decided to announce this as there has been some speculation around the matter. This isn't a dramatic change in the band at all but rather awaited decision. His contribution has decreased along the years and his personal interests lie elsewhere, while for us the band has become even more crucial part of our lives. We’re waiting to get it towed, since it’s unusable. It’s lodged in ice and we can’t get to our gear, but we’re sure it’s all smashed. We need to assess the situation and see how much of our gear still works before we can say anything about finishing out the rest of the tour. We can’t afford to buy a new trailer at this point. "Prophecy Productions/Auerbach is a rarity. A label that has, and deserves, its good reputation. I am very happy that Sol Invictus have found a home here," Wakeford explains his decision to go with the German label, adding, "Now can I have my cat returned to me as promised." Fans will be familiar with the trademark black humour of the man who after a wild life - as a member of the cult Punk band Crisis and one of the founders of the ever mysterious Death In June, among other things - founded his own project SOL INVICTUS back in 1987. Under the banner of this ancient Roman solar deity, the last 20 years have seen more than a dozen albums charting a musical progression from raw, post-punk Dark Folk to ever more refined arrangements with influences from Early Music, Classical, Ambient, and Jazz. Grind Minded announce new bass player Dutch old school death/grind band Grindminded is pleased to announce the addition of bassist Gea Mulder to their lineup. Gea has been in bands such as Mirdyn and Pharmacore. "We are excited to have Gea as part of the Grindminded family." said guitarist Jerry Duinkerken. "She's turning out to be an awesome bass player, she's learned much of our material already, and she will only make the band stronger," Duinkerken said. The change came in response to news that former bassist Jasper Bolderjik was leaving the band earlier this year.
