- METALLICA Announces Dates In Norway, Sweden, Finland, Russia
METALLICA has posted the following message on its official web site:
"Enough already with this announcing one show at atime B.S. ...we've
got four more to tell you about!
"First up, is Oslo, Norway on July 10th. Last time we were there
is it was winter (Dec. '03)... We're psyched to be playing outside in
the summer, actually our first outside gig ever in Norway.
"We haven't been to Stockholm, Sweden in way tooooooo long ...
so it's very cool that we'll be back on July 12th to play at Stockholm
Stadion for the second time. See how these things work ... 'cause the
next show is in ... Helsinki, Finland, July 15th, our eighth visit to
Helsinki and again our second time at the Olympic Stadium. Yeah, there
are a couple of days off in there . . . what to do, what to do?
"Last tidbit from tonight's update ... a city we have only played
once before, and site of one of the best and most intense shows in 'TALLICA
history ... Moscow on July 18th, this time at the Lushniki Stadium.
"They're all METALLICA shows, with of course a few cool opening
bands that we'll let you in on as soon as all the details are sorted.
"We have a few more shows in the works, so we'll get back to you
soon as they're confirmed ... keep watching here."
METALLICA "Sick of the Studio '07 Tour" dates so far:
Jul. 01 - Werchter, BEL @ Rock Werchter Festival
Jul. 03 - Athens, GRE @ Rockwave Festival
Jul. 05 - Vienna, AUT @ Rotundenplatz
Jul. 10 - Oslo, NOR @ Valle Hovin Stadion
Jul. 12 - Stockholm, SWE @ Stadion
Jul. 15 - Helsinki, FIN @ Olympic Stadium
Jul. 18 - Moscow, RUS @ Lushniki Stadium
METALLICA producer Rick Rubin told MTV.com last week that he wants the
band to make a "defining" album when they enter the studio
next month. Rubin admitted he was "really nervous" about working
with the group after seeing the candid 2005 documentary about their
near-breakup, "Metallica: Some Kind of Monster", but said
that the band is now the opposite of how they appeared in the film.
Rubin said, "They're really productive, really communicative —
it seems like they really like being in the room together. It's a great
process. They say they're more excited than they have been in a long
time about making music...I asked them not to reinvent themselves so
much as to make a defining album, like the purest of what METALLICA
is."
Drummer Lars Ulrich told Rolling Stone magazine that Rubin wants to
make the band sound like "the METALLICA that made them METALLICA
without going backward."
METALLICA hopes to release its ninth studio effort by the end of the
year.

- HALFORD DIGITAL ENTERTAINMENT!
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Halford
Digital Entertainment Packages (DEPs)
Metal God Entertainment LLC / RHML
www.HalfordMusic.com
For more than a decade value-added CD and DVD packaging have spurred
sales and achieved very impressive appearances and functions. Finally,
the brethren to physical packaging in the digital arena has arrived,
and it too offers distributors unlimited premium services for their
targeted consumers.
As the game, music, film and television industries adjust their business
models from a physical to a digitally-managed and digitally-distributed
environment; visionaries have curiously asked 'what does digital packaging
consist of?' Is it possible to provide exclusive packaging to the consumer
and control its digital proliferation?
Heavy Metal musician Rob Halford(Halford / Judas Priest vocalist) launched
his new label Metal God Entertainment late-November 2006; utilizing
digital distribution as his exclusive means to distribute current and
future music and film product www.HalfordMusic.com.
That is right, no traditional brick-and-mortar music store housing The
Metal God's works - at least not yet. Metal God Entertainment also operates
a global iTunes label featuring Rob Halford's music and short-film releases
for the world's iTunes and iPod communities.
Consumers purchasing from www.HalfordMusic.com
will find each of Rob Halford's six (6) music releases accompanied with
a premium digital package housing music and film for PC purchasers.
Mac users receive the premium digital packaging and 192k MP3 files.
Due to Apple's iTunes Digital Rights Management restrictions; Mac users
must purchase Halford's videos direct from Apple's iTunes Store.
Halford's Digital Entertainment Packages (DEP) have been soundly developed
for Apple's Mac OS X systems as well as Microsoft's PC Windows environment.
Each Halford premium digital package offers a custom interface which
guides users through their new music, videos, wallpaper, lyrics, expanded
liner notes and promotional photographs.
Click on Rob Halford discography within the digital package, and a music
player appears with 30 second audio clips of Rob Halford's entire solo
catalog; as well as, links to purchase or gift a song, release or entire
catalog.
Halford's DEPs also include Halford updates via a web link to www.RobHalford.com.
Rob's official site hosts millions of visitors annually.
Halford debuted his first premium digital packaging in 2004 - featuring
a rare 'live' performance of his band at Anaheim, California's House
of Blues, and a retro-styled video game which ignited his web boards
for an entire year as his audience strived for highest score.
Every organization faces new marketing challenges as the industry embraces
digital distribution. HalfordMusic.com and iTunes deliver quality music
and film product over the Internet to the consumer.
However, many consumer's dread looking at just a web page and order
form. They want to be enveloped and allowed to see how a production
was created, and they want to be entertained during the process. Someone
in my audience is discovering our DEPs everyday; and their reactions
are off-the-charts.

- VÁN Records attacks... The Ruins of Beverast, Nagelfar
THE RUINS OF BEVERAST
--Rain Upon The Impure--
"Goddamn, this is some of the fiercest stuff I've heard, ever.
Unlock the Shrine was something else,
but Rain Upon the Impure takes things miles and miles further."
- Vampire Magazine
"...the kind of album while listening to it someone has to ask
himself why there hasn't
existed something similar before." - Metal Archives
The second full-length-output of German Ruins Of Beverast moves another
step further into the mental abyss of loathsomeness, disgust and unease.
Rain Upon The Impure features a sonic collapse of all earthly organisms,
a celebration of negativism, composed of insurmountable and ceaseless
works creating soundscapes of furious wrath, blissful insanity and slowest
torment. This album is a sound-wise and compositional denial of all
that is Black Metal Standard.
NAGELFAR
--Virus West reissue--
This is the re-release of the last album that was produced by this disbanded
German Black Metal formation. “Virus West” is by far the
most aggressive and powerful piece of music ever released by the band,
leaving the shores of melancholy and reverie behind and setting sails
for harsh and wrathful fields of either fast or energetic midtempo tunes.
The production of the album was once again taken over by Andy Classen
within the walls of the famous Stage One studio, which means that the
sound of the compositions will rearrange your entire anatomy.

- MONARCH! "Dead Men Tell No Tales" 2xCD coming soon
Crucial Blast will be releasing the North American version of the upcoming
MONARCH! double CD set, Dead Men Tell No Tales, a colossal collection
of not one, but two full length albums previously released on vinyl
only by the French glacial sludge/feedback/lava rock behemoth known
as MONARCH!.
MONARCH! unleash a slow motion avalanche of impossibly glacial, blackened
sludge and hypnotic feedback, each song a series of epic tarpit riffage
stretched out eternally over lumbering drums and the cavernous rumble
of speaker cabinets. Over these yawning expanses of black void appears
the demonic, throat-shredding shrieks and ghostly singing of Emilie,
whose petite appearance belies one of the harshest throats in the underground
Doom spectrum. Beyond heavy. MONARCH!'s mega-crawling ambient doom/drone/sludge
follows in the grand tradition of fellow tarpit adventurers Melvins,
Corrupted, Noothgrush, and Black Sabbath, and accompany their music
with an iconoclastic design style that decorates their material with
deceptively cute imagery drawing from the collective influence of Sanrio,
Japanese animation, European graffiti, weirdo hardcore, and skateboard
culture.
This double CD set will contain both MONARCH!'s newest album Die Tonight,
and the now out-of-print Speak Of The Sea LP, both released in limited
vinyl editions as European imports, with additional unreleased songs
exclusive to this release. The North Amercian version of Dead Men Tell
No Tales will be presented in an offset-printed, 4-panel case printed
by Stumptown Printers, with all new original artwork in the band's unique
design style. The North American release will be available in North
America on March 13th 2007.

- North American release of Year Of No Light's 'Nord'
As part of our current plundering of the French art-metal underground,
Crucial Blast will be releasing a domestic version of 'Nord', the colossal
debut from French ensemble Year Of No Light that was originally released
via the French label Radar Swarm earlier in 2006.
Year Of No Light bring an amazing set of songwriting chops to the 10
songs that make up 'Nord', a heavy, chugging metallic monster that channels
both gloomy atmospherics reminiscent of The Cure, and crushing Neurosis-inspired
dirgecore, heavy and raw but at times extremely beautiful. To us, YEAR
OF NO LIGHT's Nord seems to orbit the guitar-heavy early 90's alt rock
of bands like Swervedriver and Dinosaur Jr., The Cure and My Bloody
Valentine, just as much as it draws from the dirgey, metallic, crushing
post-hardcore of Isis and Neurosis. Sure, there are a ton of bands out
there that touch upon similar influences, but we can't think of anyone
recently that has delivered an album in this style that is quite this
catchy and well-written. Nord flows seamlessly between passages of ultra
melodic post-rock and frenzied bursts of dissonant, crushing hardcore,
to austere radiant guitar figures and gorgeous Troum-esque ambient drones,
to massive doomy dirge metal, utterly gorgeous Loveless-esque melodic
bliss, and some almost folksy, but unbelievably EPIC riffs, with powerful,
strained vocals fighting through their wall of sound.
Crucial Blast's release of 'Nord' for North America is planned for May
2007.
"This is a debut of incredible maturity, and one of the most moving
albums of this year." - Stylus
"On 'Par Économie Pendant...'they are as air-punchingly
triumphant as Envy, while doom-laden closer 'La Bouche De Vitus Bering'
is bleaker than an eternal nuclear winter. Intoxicating stuff."

- ACE FREHLEY: 'Rumors Of My Demise Have Been Greatly Exaggerated'
Contrary to published reports, former KISS guitarist Ace Frehley is
alive and well and working on his highly anticipated solo album.
It has been erroneously reported on various web sites and wire services
that the legendary guitarist had committed suicide.
Not so!
"I don't know how this ridiculous rumor got started," smiles
Ace, as he eats his daily allotment of wheat germ, preparing to jump
back on his treadmill.
In a January 2006 interview with Guitar World magazine, Frehley had
the following to say regarding his current projects: "I've been
working on a solo album and a few film projects. I'd love to do an instructional
video, but I want it to be comedic. [Laughs] I don't want it to be just
another boring how-to-play video. I may not be the world's greatest
guitarist, but at least I'm never boring."
- DOWNLORD RELEASE VIDEO FOR WAKE UP & SMELL THE SPECIES
DOWNLORD, the Danish death metal band featuring ex-BOLT THROWER/BENEDICTION

the Species” off of their debut album, “Random Dictionary
of the Damned,” which was released world-wide by Open Grave Records
in late January.
The song, “Wake Up & Smell the Species” uses lyrical
excerpts from "Hymn of the Satanic Empire", and was written
by Anton Lavey in 1988 and was included on the "Satanic Mass"
album.
The video can be viewed at the Open Grave Records website (http://www.opengraverecords.com).

- MORTIIS TO RELEASE REMIX ALBUM 'SOME KIND OF HEROIN'
Industrial Goth enigma Mortiis is set to release a remix album titled
'Some Kind of Heroin', reworking material from 'The Grudge', on April
17 in Europe, via Earache Records.
For much of Mortiis' career, the striking visual aspect combined with
his rapid musical evolution has become a subject of much urban legend
over the years. And yet over a series of progressively more ambitious
albums, Mortiis has morphed into a band unit that has become known for
aggressive live shows and ambitious records, and has spawned two Top
50 UK singles.
In keeping with the rapidly developing nature of the music and the direction
of the band, 'Some Kind of Heroin' offers diverse remix material including
interpretations by a wide range of contemporaries, such as Zombie Girl,
Gothminister, Implant, XP8, Mental Siege, PIG, The Kovenant, Velvet
Acid Christ, Girls Under Glass, David Wallace, Kubrick, Funker Vogt,
Flesh Field, Dope Stars and In the Nursery.
Mortiis states: "I´m really stoked we finally got to do a
remix album and since it's been in process for quite some time now I'm
happy to be able to finally release it. I've always been fascinated
with taking songs and twisting them into something different, the ability
to grab the elements you like and put them into a totally different
environment. The flexibility of that really appeals to me.
I think the mixes all those guys did came out really cool, many of them
vastly different from what would have come out of the studio if I had
done them. It's cool to see what happens when you let other people inside
your head, so to speak. I think the variety of mixers and sonic realms
created here will appeal to a large variety of people."
Track listing for 'Some Kind of Heroin' is as follows:
01. Underdog (Zombie Girl Remix)
02. The Grudge (Gothminister mix)
03. Twist The Knife (The Gibbering mix by Implant)
04. Broken Skin feat. Stephan Groth (Septic Wound mix by XP8)
05. The Grudge (Mental Siege Mix)
06. Gibber (PIG Remix)
07. Way too Wicked (Rape, Dope and the American Way mix by The Kovenant)
08. Gibber (Lysergic Club Mix by Velvet Acid Christ)
09. The Worst in Me (Girls Under Glass Mix)
10. The Grudge (David Wallace Remix)
11. Broken Skin feat. Stephan Groth (Funker Vogt Remix)
12. The Grudge (Emotional Heresy by Kubrick)
13. Decadent & Desperate (Therafuck remix by Dope Stars)
14. Gibber (Gibbering Idiot)
15. Way too Wicked (Absinthium mix)

- NORTT - Ligfærd CD - out now!
Throughout its duration, Ligfaerd relentlessly smothers the listener
in more layers of ghostly atmosphere than its predecessor, but the decidedly
doom-oriented black metal component is definitely still present. Nortt's
basic sound is still made up of morose background synths and piano,
barely human snarls, ponderous drumming, despondent fuzzed-out guitars
and other string laments -- all tied in chains almost too heavy to bear.
This time however, these elements find themselves trapped in a more
spacious environment, a cold void where each strumming of a chord comes
back off the walls to haunt the listener. This sparse approach trades
impact for atmosphere; at times it seems to increase the significance
of each note, but it can also place more strain on the album's ability
to keep the listener's attention. It all sounds like some barren ghost
town somewhere between this world and another; the last funeral before
your own has just taken place, and half-imagined church bells echo in
your mind as a reminder that your miserable journey is coming to an
end.

- New album THE INNER SANCTUM out on March 5th
Single 'If I Was You' (single mix) available for download now
Major European tour to start end of February
The rolling thunder can be heard from afar: British metal legends, Saxon,
are scheduled to release their latest album, The Inner Sanctum, on March
5, 2007 , proving that they have succeeded yet again in keeping that
special place between traditional and contemporary music. “The
Inner Sanctum is a typical Saxon recording that kicks off with gargatum
heavy metal tracks, followed by classic rock’n’roll numbers,
returning to Metal towards at the end,” vocalist Biff Byford describes
his group’s new offering, which features two near 10 Minutes songs,
rating the release in Saxon’s history as follows: “I’d
say the album is in the style of Lionheart and Metalhead, a number of
tracks have a Solid Ball Of Rocktouch, but at the same time the production
is very modern.” The Inner Sanctum will be available in a digipak
with Bonus DVD or in a jewel case, including bonus track.
Charlie Bauerfeind was in charge of the driving sound, keeping the typical
Saxon elements of each song to incorporate them in a contemporary production.
All those who have known Saxon since the Eighties and followed their
amazing development will love The Inner Sanctum. The first single lifted
from the album will be ‘If I Was You’, available for download
: a driving metal track that fits in seamlessly among the long list
of Saxon classics, increasing still the anticipation of the album.
Five days before the album arrives at the stores, Saxon will embark
on their extensive European tour, scheduled to last until mid-May, which
will take Biff Byford, Paul Quinn (guitar), Doug Scarratt (guitar),
Nibbs Carter (bass) and Nigel Glockler (drums) through England, Ireland,
Germany, Spain, France, Portugal, Belgium, the Netherlands, Italy, Greece,
Croatia, Poland, Russia, Austria, Sweden and Finland, among others.
Byford has already hinted at his band’s live show, which has been
updated as usual: “All those who know us are aware that we always
include six to seven new numbers in our track listing when we have a
new album to promote.” So all Saxon fans had better mark in their
calendars the show nearest them!
