Richard Corpse of Witchery - Back
1. How did the band get started? How did you meet and how long have you been together?

Richard Corpse: We took the name Witchery in 1997 after we got thrown out of Satanic Slaughter. We asked Sharlee to join us and he said yes. I got in to the picture in - 95 with Satanic and Seance to handle the bass. After the Satanic records Jensen moved to Gothenburg and I took his place as a guitar player in Seance. The rest of the guys have known each other from the time when they played with Total Death and Orchriste the bands that later became Seance. Its must be around 15 years now.

2. How would you describe your music?

Richard Corpse: Rotten pounding steal in your face with a hard E-arm.

3. What are your biggest influences?

Richard Corpse: We get influence from each other when we are making new songs. We are trying to make the songs we miss from the metal scene. Like every other band (I hope) we are playing songs that we want to hear. We are all metal heads and listen to a lot in the metal scene.

4. What influence do you think your bands has in music and metal today?

Richard Corpse: I really don't know. It's like every thing else, if you like it you are probably influenced by it.

5. What made you want to be in the band? And if you weren't in the band what would you be doing now?

Richard Corpse: Listening to bands like Merciful Fate, Annihilator in my teens. I would probably make furniture and props to metal bands like I do to Witchery now.

6. Are any band members in side projects? If so what are they, and explain a little about them.

Richard Corpse: Me and Toxin - Séance. Death metal with a new release in 2002.
Jensen - The Haunted. Thrash from the metal capital Gothenburg.
Sharlee Dángelo - Merciful fate, Arch Enemy You all know Merciful. Arch Enemy new record with a female singer is really good.
Martin Axe - NCO, Nifelheim

7. How would you feel if a band took their sound from yours and became very well known?

Richard Corpse: Go ahead it doesn't bother me. Every band has its own personal style and an own style playing their instruments.

8. What current bands do you like or respect?

Richard Corpse: The Crown, The Haunted, Opeth, Corporation 187, Morbid Angel, Samael, Cradle of Filth, Dimmu Borgir, Borknagar, Slayer, Captain Beyond, Defleshed.

10. What demo/album do you like the best?

Richard Corpse: "Symphony of the Devil."

11. What is the meaning behind the songs?

Richard Corpse: No meaning. Just metal.

12. What are the bands favorite songs?

Richard Corpse: It changes every day. Just now its "Shallow Grave" and "Bone Mill" Both from "Symphony for the Devil."

13. What does the future hold for the band?

Richard Corpse: Hopefully a lot of touring and party's with metal people all over the world.

14. If you could play with any band who would it be and why?

Richard Corpse: If I only could choose one record it would be Rust in Peace with Megadeth.

15. Who writes the majority of the music?

Richard Corpse: Jensen

16. Who has been the favorite band you've played with and why?

Richard Corpse: Witchery. Best musicians and best friends.

17. Where did you get the band name from?

Richard Corpse: It's an old name Jensen came up with as a suggestion to Seance.

18. Describe what the band is like live?

Richard Corpse: We make the band after us to work for their money. Seriously I don't know I have never seen us. The only one in the band that have seen us is Sharlee.

19. If you are gonna do any kind of video what would be in it?

Richard Corpse: I think Ben Wrangle and some W-girls will give the watcher what he can take.

20. Are there any touring plans made; if so tell me about them?

Richard Corpse: We are heading towards US with The Haunted in November. You can find the dates at witchery.org

21. Where do you think the band will be 20 years from now?

Richard Corpse: Twenty years it's a long time. I don't think Witchery will be around but we are all musicians and probably we have started new bands or at least something that involves music.
