and how long have you been together? Derek Sherinian: Platypus was formed by john myung. the band has been together about a year. 2. What are your biggest influences? Idols? And how does it pertain to who you influence? Derek Sherinian: Van halen circa 1978-84. They had the perfect combination of virtuosity, and showmanship 3. Are any band members in side projects? If so what are they, and explain a little about them. Derek Sherinian: I have a solo album titled planet x on magna carta records that will be released worldwide july 13. 4.
