Kenny Hallman and Steve Terror of Infernal Majesty - Back
1. How did the band get started? How did you meet and how long have you been together?

Kenny Hallman: Steve and I have been together since we were teenagers, and Infernal Majesty has been together since 1986. Steve seen an ad in the paper looking for 2 guitar players and replied, and soon after asked me if I wanted to join, which I did.

2. How would you describe your music?

Steve Terror: I would say we are a combination of Death Metal and Thrash. We try to be technical and heavy at the same time. On the next album we are going for a little more of an eerie sound.

3. What are your biggest influences?

Steve Terror: For me I would have to say Slayer. Aside from the last album I've liked everything they have done. Before that bands like Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Rush, Black Sabbath, stuff like that.

Kenny Hallman: Early influences for me were Mercyful Fate and Kiss, I always liked bands that added a bit of a show to their music.

4. What influence do you think your bands has in music and metal today?

Kenny Hallman: We hear from a lot people who say we have influenced them in some way and we are glad that they appreciate what we have done.

5. What made you want to be in the band? And if you weren’t in the band what would you be doing now?

Kenny Hallman: When I was a kid and seen Kiss I knew then and there that's what I wanted to do and I bugged my parents to buy me a guitar, which they did. If I wasn't playing in a band then I would probably be working in some dead end job.

6. Are any band members in side projects? If so what are they, and explain a little about them.

Steve Terror: No, this band takes up so much of our time we just can't think about side projects.

7. How would you feel if a band took their sound from yours and became very well known?

Kenny Hallman: I'd sue them for everything they got..only kidding, It wouldn't bother me at all.

8. What current bands do you like or respect?

Kenny Hallman: I've listened to a lot of new stuff out there, some good and some bad. I really like Defleshed at the moment and the new Cannibal Corpse is great.

9. How many demos/albums do you have? Tell me about them!!

Kenny Hallman: Let's see. Our first Demo was back in 1986 with Night of the Living Dead, Overlord, SOS and Skeleton's in the Closet which we sent out to everyone who would listen and that's when we got our contract from Roadrunner which released our first Album "None Shall Defy". Next, we did another demo called "Nigressent Dissolution" which were tracks for our next album and were released on the CD version of "None Shall Defy" since we never did a second album for Roadrunner. Next came "Creation of Chaos" with a new singer, as Chris Bailey left the band for a while due to personal problems. When Chris came back we worked on the new CD "Unholier Than Thou" which we released with our new Record company "Hypnotic" and have just released "Chaos in Copenhagen" our live CD which was recorded on our European tour with Cannibal Corpse and Dark Funeral. Right now we are working on our newest CD "The History of Hell" which will be recorded this summer.

10. What demo/album do you like the best?

Kenny Hallman: None Shall Defy - It just had all the right ingredients.

11. What is the meaning behind the songs?

Steve Terror: There are all different. On the Unholier album a lot of the songs were about history. The first one was horror movie stuff and the new one will be about hell and Satan stuff like that.

12. What are the bands favorite songs?

Kenny Hallman: We like them all, but my fav is None Shall Defy and Night of the Living Dead.

13. What does the future hold for the band?

Steve Terror: Right now we are working on a new album, entitled "The History of Hell". It will sound a lot more like "None Shall Defy". We are going to remix the last album "Unholier Than Thou" and probably add a bonus track or two. We are going to release it on our own label, which we have started, called "Anthology of Death Records". In the past record companies have screwed us and we have finally taken maters in our own hands. The label will start off slowly and eventually build up to a small label with a around 5 good metal bands signed to it.

14. If you could play with any band who would it be and why?

Kenny Hallman: Slayer, It would be great to get to know these guys since they have been one of our favorite bands of all time.

15. Who writes the majority of the music?

Steve Terror: The music is split between Kenny and myself. As far as the lyrics go, I 've done most of the lyrics in the past but Chris is starting to do a lot more as time goes on.

16. Who has been the favorite band you’ve played with and why?

Steve Terror: That's a tough one. I don't really have a favorite. We've really enjoyed playing with Cannibal Corpse, Dark Funeral, Malevolent Creation, Vital Remains, Vader etc. Most of the bands out there are cool which is what's great about this style of music.

17. Where did you get the band name from?

Kenny Hallman: When we first started we had the name "Overlord" but we later found it was taken. So we were thinking of a new name and I hit upon Infernal Majesty, which everyone liked right away.

18. Describe what the band is like live?

Kenny Hallman: Well we wear all the leather and studs and we have a pretty energetic show, nothing too flashy just pounding thrash.

19. If you are gonna do any kind of video what would be in it?

Steve Terror: It would be a live video. The artsy videos are alright for the pop bands but as far as metal goes I like the live videos.

20. Are there any touring plans made; if so tell me about them?

Kenny Hallman: yeah US tour this year for sure, we were suppose to be on the Incantation/Vital Remains tour but the promoter could not get us work Visa's in time so he's working on another tour for us.

21. Where do you think the band will be 20 years from now?

Kenny Hallman: Dead
