1. How did the band get started? How did you meet
and how long have you been together? Matt Rogalski:
Well I started Burial. I had the name before I found the guys
in the band. Then I found Jamie and Jamie found Nick. We are the 3
original members in the band. 2. How would you describe
your music? Matt Rogalski: Describing our music
isn't to hard. But I don't like to label stuff. I guess its pretty
much brutal technical death metal. 3. What are your biggest
influences? Matt Rogalski: My influences range
from Hate Eternal, Suffocation, Deicide, Cradle of Filth, Morbid Angel,
and Dying Fetus. James Murphy really influences me also.
4. What influence do you think your bands has in music and metal
today? Matt Rogalski: I really don't know if our
music influences anybody. But if it does I hope it makes them want
to play some of the most brutal shit out there. 5. What
made you want to be in the band? And if you werent in the band
what would you be doing now? Matt Rogalski: Like
I said I started the band. I started it because I wanted to play a
very extreme kind of music. If I wasn't in this band I would be in
another band, cause that's all I want to do. 6.
Are any band members in side projects? If so what are they, and explain
a little about them. Matt Rogalski: Ok, me and
Jamie are in a side project with our singer in Burial's brother. The
name of the band is yet to be determined. But, it's very groove oriented
death metal. Very heavy. And I am also in another band with Jen from
Autumn Tears that is metal but a lot lighter. It's going to have keyboards
and male and female vocals. The name of that band is still in the
works also. 7. How would you feel if a band took their
sound from yours and became very well known? Matt
Rogalski: If a band sounded like us, but they didn't rip us off,
I guess that would be ok. But if the band ripped off our whole style
and are whole way of playing then there might be a problem.
8. What current bands do you like or respect? Matt
Rogalski: There are a lot of bands that we all like and or respect.
I think a little to many to name right here. 9. How many
demos/albums do you have? Tell me about them!! Matt
Rogalski: We have a first cd/demo that we put out ourselves which
is titled "Mourning the Millennium." That's death metal. And "Enlightened
with Pain" is out first full length cd. Which is out on Lost Disciple
Records. That is brutal death metal. A lot heavier than the first
cd. 10. What demo/album do you like the best?
Matt Rogalski: To many bands out there to really have
a favorite. As for demos, in this area there isn't to much good stuff
going around. There are a few good bands in the area, but most is
all hardcore, and I don't really like hardcore. 11. What
is the meaning behind the songs? Matt Rogalski: Every
song has a different meaning. We don't really try to stick to one
topic on an album. I mean look at "Skull-fucked" then look at "End
Times" off of our first disc. One is about fucking a chic in many
places alive or dead, and the other is about the end of the world.
I think we write about whatever we are thinking about at the time.
12. What are the bands favorite songs? Matt
Rogalski: We all have are favorites. But then they change. Some
people get sick of playing a certain song. Then they like it again,
or we write a new song then we all like that one. Then a week or a
month later they don't like the new one. 13. What does
the future hold for the band? Matt Rogalski: Well,
hopefully we will be doing some sort of a U.S. tour in the beginning
of the spring or summer. Then possibly a European tour in the late
summer. But things are still being worked out. 14. Who
writes the majority of the music? Matt Rogalski:
I wrote a good amount of the music on Enlightened. But the whole
band tries to contribute when they can. It is becoming more of a group
effort as time goes by. 15. Who has been the favorite
band youve played with and why? Matt Rogalski:
I personally don't have a favorite band that I have played with.
There has been a lot of awesome bands that we have played with and
I have liked them all. Playing out is the best. 16. Where
did you get the band name from? Matt Rogalski: I
had the band name a long time ago. Just kind of clicked in my head.
When we all got together we all agreed on it. Then we found out that
there was a band called Burial. So we changed it for a brief amount
of time. Then we decided to take it back, and its worked for us ever
since. 17. Describe what the band is like live?
Matt Rogalski: I don't know if I can describe us live.
All I can say is it is a trip and you and everyone out there should
go see us. Believe me you won't go home disappointed. 18.
Are there any touring plans made; if so tell me about them?
Matt Rogalski: See question number 13. 19.
Where do you think the band will be 20 years from now?
Matt Rogalski: Who knows where the band will be. Hopefully
still playing brutal shit. |
