Many people say that when a band reaches their
third album, that album either makes them or breaks them. For Vile,
members of Cannibal Corpse have endorsed the band…so you can say this
would be to the positive side of that. I wonder if it’s because of
their name…”Vile” is a past Cannibal Corpse album title.
While that might be part of it, the majority of it is because they have
a pretty good album. “The New Age Of Chaos” is in the vein of
Cannibal Corpse but with different technicality. Maybe if you mix in a little
Morbid Angel and Behemoth you would get a little closer to their sound;
it should please most death metal fans. Vile’s “The New Age
Of Chaos” belongs in the same breath as those bands. They are just
as solid. Not to mention that they are crazy brutal and heavy as hell! Those
catchy death riffs are an assault on the brain and the senses! I think they
melted my brain from the inside out. While there really isn’t a bad
track on the disc, there are a few that stood out a little and they include
“Suicide Warfare,” “Sentenced To Live,” and “Ritual
Decapitation.” The nine songs and a half hour of brutal death all
ends with a short outro; an acoustic instrumental. It was nice of Vile to
end the CD with a couple minutes of quiet music to help let your ears adjust
back to normal. Looking forward to future releases from this Californian
death metal band!
