“The Art Of Agony” is the 7th
release for New Jersey’s Vicious
Circle. It’s comprised of fast-paced death metal along with
thrash elements. Most prevalent are the technical, blazing fast paced
riffs alongside with brutal ones. You can say it’s reminiscent
to Death, Morbid Angel, Suffocation, Cannibal Corpse and a host of
other well known death bands…it depends on what track you are
listing to. Track 3, “Lord of Shit,” is a lot like Morbid
Angel; it has the same feel. Vocals are pretty intense and are done
in guttural death style. Vicious Circle give the impression of doing
a little more than your typical death band, they aren’t afraid
to change things up a little. They stay consistent and solid throughout
the disc. It may be that way because it was produced by Dan Korneff;
who has worked with bands like Candiria, Ill Nino, Lamb of God and
MOD. But when it comes down to it, this isn’t anything different
enough from other bands of the same genre to be considered unique.
Unless you’re a fan of death related music you may not appreciated
this as much as I did. Rating: 79 |
