Unearth - The March (Metal Blade Records) - Back
Unearth hail from Winthrop, Massachusetts and formed back in 1998. Accomplishing more on their own than most bands can do with full support of a label and press, Unearth are back with yet again another fantastic album! Constant tours all over the globe have earned them respect and recognition from their peers and helped cultivate one of the strongest fan bases around. Their debut album, ‘The Stings of Conscience’, was a popular offering in the then-underground metal-core scene. Their music is a mixture of modern metal, hardcore, and thrash-metal. They are also well known for playing seven-stringed guitars; while the bass player plays a five-stringed bass. Unearth has embarked on a sold-out tour with Terror, Black Dahlia Murder and Remembering Never in tow, a sold-out run alongside Atreyu, and high profile treks with Slipknot, Killswitch Engage, and ‘Sounds of the Underground 2005’, The Headbangers Ball Tour and Ozzfest 2004. In 2006 the band had the privilege to record the album ‘III: In the Eyes of Fire’ with well-known heavy metal producer Terry Date at Seattle. This latest coup was yet another landmark in their blossoming career, a fact the band were quick to acknowledge: "Working with Terry Date is another amazing feat for us on a growing list of accomplishments.” ‘The March’ is metal-core band Unearth's fourth studio album and second full-length release with Metal Blade Records. The album has a theme of "[symbolizing] both the evil and hopeful sides of humanity." The album was produced by Adam Dutkiewicz, the guitarist and backing vocalist for metal-core band Killswitch Engage, and was mixed mastered by Andy Sneap who has worked with many of metals finest. ‘The March’ is very much like their album ‘The Oncoming Storm’, total brutality in its delivery, but with the catchiness of ‘In the Eyes of Fire’. Listen to the tracks 'Crow Killer' and 'We are not Anonymous' for examples of that. There is so many great songs on this album it’s hard to find a fault. Unearth are improving their sound with every album, and there is no doubt that Unearth have found their place on top of the Metal-core ladder! For me… this band is turning more into a strait out first class fucking HEAVY thrash metal band.
