The Sin Committee - Confess (Independent) - Back
The Sin Committee commenced during the summer of 2006 in the Netherlands. Since then they have released two recordings, the demo “Wormwood” in 2007 and now a new 5-song EP entitled “Confess” in 2009.

Hard rock and progressive metal influence the band. They are partially influenced by The End, Tool and Mastodon. I definitely hear the Tool influence. Some parts remind me of Opeth, though that may not be intentional.

Overall they seem to be a tight band. The Sin Committee vary their play from the melodic to the heavy, which shows some of their dynamics. They also use progressive experimenting in their composition.

Serveral Tool like riffs can be heard in their music. The Sin Committee does their own variation well anyhow.

Vocally there are a few variations in type. It’s mainly, singing vocals with screaming and death vox. I’m not crazy about all the vocals, but for the most part it works well.

There is a strong chorus in track 3, “Straw Men,” all around for the band. This is also my favorite track and I think has some radio potential. Other tracks have some potential too.

Besides a couple lackluster riffs selections, these guys sound promising. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a record label grab these guys for their roster.
