Are you looking for a nonstop, epic adventure?
Well Slumber’s
“Fallout” is exactly that, from the first note to the
last beat. They formed in 2001, but work as if they have been together
for many years. I haven’t been so impressed with a debut since
Opeth’s “Orchid.” This CD will get you in a metal
trance like state in which you awe at the quality of the composition.
The music is written well and uses a mix of doom and melodic death.
You can hear elements of many bands while you listen to the beautiful
musicscapes. Parts are similar to Katatonia, Amorphis, Opeth, My Dying
Bride, Tiamat, and Novembers Doom, and will be very enticing for fans
of doom, death and dark metal. It’s like they know exactly what
doom and death fans want to hear. Some song structures are very reminiscent
of Opeth and Katatonia. The keys are majestic and set a nice ambiance
almost to the level of Tiamat’s “Wildhoney.” This
is a definite album of the year candidate for me. You couldn’t
really ask for anything more. Outstanding production…nothing
overshadows the rest of the instruments. I highly recommend this 7-track
and 38 minute adventure of the senses. “Fallout” was a
pleasure to listen to and review!!
