There are 3 songs and 12 minutes on “The Price We Pay.” Sixonesix has a strong Swedish death feel to it, though some may say metalcore or deathcore. While the ‘core influences seem to be plentiful today I don’t believe that these guys have included a huge part in their music. The bands they seem mostly reminiscent of are the mighty Amon Amarth, In Flames, and At The Gates. The songs are made up of several catchy riffs that include the previously mentioned Swedish death style, and other melodic metal stylings. A selection of these melodic death riffs chug like a well in tune Harley motorcycle. Melodic, harmonic leads are also woven into their music well, with passionate solos in the mix too. At the helm are abrasive vocals with a few group sung vocals. “The Price We Pay” is far from being what many would call as groundbreaking, and some I’m sure would say that this is another band in a scene that has blurred or the last few years, but they do have their promising parts. Sounds pretty good to me, looking forward to more from this band. Rating: 81 Reviewed By: Jeffrey D. Adkins |
