In June of 2001 the band Sift
recorded their second self-titled EP. This four song, sixteen minute
EP has the sound of Tool and Alice and Chains, with maybe a little
touch of Neurosis. The music I like quite a bit. The band is tight
and the sound is heavy and catchy, but not overwhelming. Guitarist
Ted Aguilar recently performed with legendary thrash band Death Angel
at the Thrash of the Titans to benefit Chuck Billy of Testament due
to his illness. The vocals sometimes get a little annoying when the
singer tries to hold a note a little too long. Overall the disk is
decent, all songs have pretty good song structure and are musically
pleasing. If the vocalist use his more extreme voice throughout a
whole song, it could improve the intensity and lessen annoyance of
drawn-out vocals.
