The album begins with a Manowar-esque instrumental track reminiscent of the beginning to "1992's "Triumph of Steel." Many parallels to classic Manowar can be found throughout the album, but you will notice that each song is different from the last without straying too far from the modern metal sound. The album would not be complete without battle hymns like "Blood of knives," which serves as a call to arms for the new metal leaders, "I got the right," a song about the power and glory of metal, and my personal favorite "Matador" which as you might guess is a song about the struggle of a bullfighter. The song "May the gods be with you" is a fan appreciation song reflecting on the glory days of metal. The vocals on this album were done really well and may have been done by a few different singers or one singer with a very capable voice. The vocal style is similar but different from that of Manowar. In other words, the singing style is very melodic and ranges from smooth to rough textures flawlessly, which is even more remarkable if the album features multiple voices. "New Metal Leaders" chronicle's Ross The Boss's place in hard rock and metal's past, present, and future. Forging from the very flame of metal a brand new branch in the ever-expanding tree of metal. Wonderful album, musicianship and lyrical content are technically brilliant and somewhat diverse leaving little to be desired. Rating: 85 Reviewed By: Brian Grefrath |
