Here we have a fine young progressive rock
band out of Poland that call themselves Riverside.
“Out of Myself” is Riversides' debut album and after a
year or better, has just been released here in the states. This 4-piece
structure have taken on the post-modern sounds of rock reminiscent
of bands like Anathema, Porcupine Tree, and The Fire Theft (ex-Sunny
Day Real Estate). Tracks like "The Curtain Falls", "OK"
and "Loose Heart" have a very jazzy New Age form of song
writing, while maintaining a smooth pace without anything that would
lead you to flip through tracks. This is a very fresh sound from a
generally new band without much known history other than the fact
they know how to perform and do it with integrity. Basically, Riverside
seem to have pinpointed exactly what they wanted to. The production,
craftsmanship, song writing, and sound have all been formulated enough
to seep into the crevices of your mind to explore new dimensions of
music. Some surprises are actually quite blunt! For fans of Pink Floyd,
Anathema, Porcupine Tree, and even Opeth at times.
