OK, I'm really not into this a whole lot.
I can go on and on for hours (even days) gloating over how immensely
superior Darkthrones' "Blaze in the Northern Sky" or Mayhems'
"De Mysteriis dom Sathanas" classic cult black metal albums
are in comparison to most of today's imitations. Such is the case
with Ravenous' "Blood Delirium". Obviously, this is just
my personal opinion on this band and many would disagree with me,
but the fact of the matter is, this sounds like a basement rehearsal
(similar to Beherits' "The Oath of Black Blood"). There
are alot of die-hard black metal fans who are absolutely intoxicated
with the whole under-produced thing, but I for one like to hear what's
going on or I won't buy it. I will go out on a limb and pronounce
that these guys could probably do a helluva lot better if they decided
to go out and get a producer like Fred Estby or Dan Swano for future
releases. Let's face it, I had to crank my stereo nearly 4 volumes
after previously listening to Ulvers' "Madrigals of Night".
I know these guys can do better, I hope they do.
Rating: 45 (that's gracious)
