Pink Lizard - Rock 'N Roll Injection (Independent) - Back
“Rock ‘N Roll Injection” was released in May of 2005 and is the follow-up to 2003’s demo simply titled “Pink Lizard.” The original demo was praised by established Italian metal magazines such as “Metal Hammer,” “Rock Hard,” and “Flash.”

For the last few years, Pink Lizard has established themselves in the Italian pub scene and has played numerous metal festivals alongside big-ticked metal acts. Their sound consists of hard rock and metal elements from the 80’s and 90’s which creates an intricate but light-hearted pop sound. You will notice the 80’s hair metal influences right off the bat in both the musical and lyrical construction. The songs are centered on a simple verse/chorus/verse style, however, intricate guitar and bass leads provide interesting segues between the verse and chorus motifs. In other words, the leads add a little unpredictability to the band’s familiar sound.

Since Pink Lizard’s sound is closely related to the 80’s hair metal scene, they appear to offer nothing new to the genre at first glance. I had first thought that you’d really need to have a taste for hair metal to appreciate these guys; however, I find that I notice something new each time I listen to this album. I cannot say that there is one track I recommend over the others. At first I was only really drawn to the song “Dress Yourself,” but after listening intently to the entire album, I can’t say that I have any one favorite.

“Rock ‘N Roll Injection” was actually mastered by King’s X guitarist Ty Tabor. You will notice right away the amount of care that went into the writing, recording, and mastering processes, setting this mini CD/EP apart from most others. It is especially good for a band that has yet to establish itself in the worldwide metal scene.
