“Error In Evolution” is the second
studio album for the Swedish metallers One
Man Army And The Undead Quartet. Yes, that’s quite a name for
quite a band. After their 2006 debut album “21st Century Machine”
they had grabbed my attention and I was wondering what the future was going
to bring. Well, it brought forth their disc “Error In Evolution.”
It’s mostly up-tempo and aggressive with some variation. It can also
be mid-paced or more groove-driven and pummeling. A couple slowed down elements
too. However the Swedish death and thrash riffs are like the decorating
of a blood-splattered wall…they are all over the place! The choppy
riffs are good too. OMA&TUQ solos have lots of passion and are one of
the hooks of the album. Another is the band’s prominent vocalist Johan
Lindstrand (The Crown). He still belches forth his vomitus rage on the mic.
Sounds like he’s slitting his throat while he does his vocal fry.
Sick ass vocal! That’s for sure! There are some straightforward yelling
vocals too. My favorite track overall is “Knights In Satan’s
Service,” the chorus is awesome! Catchy as hell is burning. OMA&TUQ
also cover Alice Cooper’s song from Friday the 13th Part VI soundtrack
“He’s Back (The Man Behind the Mask).” I enjoyed it quite
a bit. All was recorded at Deadline Studios with Impious guitarist/engineer,
and former OMA&TUQ bassist Valle Adzic; and mixed at Bohus Sound Studios
in Gothenburg, Sweden in 24 hours to boot. Now that’s someone who
know what they are doing. Not much else to say except they have two full-lengths
now, and two quality discs too.
